Chapter 8

..

..Tamer-verse's Digital World?

..

Down the almost magical seeming hole in the water, into Gennai's home, through the hall and into the office we spot Gennai scrolling a computer. "There's something here, it's gotta be near these, I think it's, maybe, is that... Yes! I found some recordings Ryo!" Gennai shouted to the teen who was walking around the other room looking at Gennai's odd trophies. He quickly returned.

Gennai was looking to Ryo as he walked in. "Wow, I found a bunch. Hopefully this jogs that memory, but if not at least maybe it will open a door to those memories and show you what you had here before." Gennai turned back to the screen, opening the file, it took a moment to load then took over the screen as the screen began to play, Gennai looked away.

Ryo watched, watched himself fighting, watched as he fought enemy after enemy, he freed Taichi. Then together defeated a horrible enemy, then again he came back he fought many more enemies, freeing those friends again. He saw them all happy to see him. Their faces seemed so familiar.

There was no audio. He stared watching the other him end up again in the digital world. Then he saw someone and his heart beat fluttered. 'What is this?' He thought to himself. 'Who is he?' His heart raced, as he watched, they spent time together. He watched as they bested enemy after enemy together. Then that same awful enemy again, once again defeated. But as the final blow was sent he saw something, 'wait, stop no! He saved me?! What was that?' He watched in horror wishing he could stop it as Ken jumped between Ryo and millenniumon taking the shot meant for Ryo. Recovering quickly, Ryo never even saw it happen.

"His name is Ken Ichijouji. You two were very close, until..." Gennai trailed off a moment sadly before continuing. "Ken was taken over by shot, it turned out to be a dark spore from that awful enemy, it grew inside him after you left and he eventually became a very scary person, until Daisuke rescued him from himself."

Ryo watched as the other boy grew sick. But Ryo's adventures had to continue apparently, he was called again. He watched as the boy helped him even when sick while he defeated enemies in the digital world. He realized the evil monster he kept fighting had poisoned his friend...his friend, friend felt wrong.

"What happened Gennai?" Ryo asked. Gennai stayed silent as the final battles took place, they both just watched. Ryo watched as the awful Digimon talked, his friend stuck at home getting sicker because of this monster's obsession with him.

Then the digimon evolved and threw him back in time and he spotted a familiar friend. "That can't be right... Monodramon?" He asked to no one really.

Ryo got quiet, processing everything. Watching as his Monodramon argued with the dark digimon. When suddenly after a long and torturous battle, Monodramon forced a DNA digivolution with the evil digimon, knowing the evil would always come back, Ryo was baffled. He watched in shock as his friend and the horrible digimon digivolved together and became a new digiegg.

"I can't- This can't be real..." he continued watching upset.

"It's unclear what happened afterwards, we have no audio. But you left, never to be seen again, all existence of you here disappeared, your family, your history, your memory in others, your legacy here mostly dissolved..." Gennai told him.

Ryo stared at the screen for minutes that seemed like hours. Memories began to trickle in, one by one. "I remember..." He said quietly. "I remember there was a voice that asked, 'where do you belong?' And I knew, that Ken was sick because of me, because of...because of Millenniumon's obsession. If he was a part of my partner how could Ken ever forgive me, how could we-" he stopped abruptly and reworded. "If I'd known he was affected by that spore like that, I didn't know he took it for me... I thought leaving was better. For both of us..."

"That's in the past now Ryo, the question now, I think, is why are you here and how did you get back? I think answering those questions will help lead us to what happened to your digital world and my real world. That's what's important right now" Gennai said.

"Maybe it was her?" Ryo finally looked away from the screen to the other man.

"Who is her?" Gennai questioned, looking at the screen to see how he missed a girl.

"The existence that spoke to me, gave me the option, here or there. She sent me there to begin with. She spoke only inside my head." He told Gennai pointing at his head. He then continued trying to remember as much as he could.

"I never saw anyone in the footage." Gennai said slightly dismissively.

"I never saw anyone either, she spoke to me but in my head, she never showed herself. She said she was from a different time or... No, wait, she said she was time. It was weird I didn't understand..." he told Gennai, "I still don't." He muttered to himself. "But at the time I was only worried about his feelings I guess, I let that motivate my choice. But if she could send me there she could bring me back, maybe it's her doing?" He questioned.

"I think all this is much more nefarious." Gennai told him, "but maybe we can find this existence and ask her for help." He thought.

"I...maybe..." Ryo shook his head, he felt weird. He leaned against the wall, his mind struggling to comprehend everything, it hurt, he felt memories continue to flood back in. They came one after the other, he couldn't stop it or control it, he couldn't keep track, they weren't his. His heart raced and skipped. They weren't his but he was in them. He felt sick suddenly, then the room darkened, he felt hot, it was too much he began waived where he stood, then his legs finally collapsed.

Gennai rushed over, calling his name, probably or something Ryo couldn't hear him, 'what is that throbbing?' He asked himself, his head hurt too much to answer, all he could think about was the pain in his head as he went black.

..

..Rose's Whoniverse

..

The digidestined stood around amongst themselves, Mimi, Palmon, Miyako, and Hawkmon talked together as Rose and her companion worked diligently on whatever he said.

"This is crazy, is it not, can we really trust them, he's kind of nuts." Miyako whispered.

"I mean they're trying to help us." Mimi said completely accepting.

"Not like that, he talks like a madman do you think we'll make it through the door at all? I'm worried-" Miyako's whispers were interrupted by Rose.

"Secrets don't make friends." She joked.

"They're worried I'm a madman. That I can't get us there." David grinned. Miyako turned red. "The acoustics in here are fantastic, don't feel bad." He joked.

Rose replied confidently, "if there's anyone in this universe who can get you there it's him. But he's most definitely a madman, used to sound a little better with his last Tardis, madman with a shoddy column isn't as good as madman with a box." She giggled.

"Oi. Watch it, this shoddy column will drop you off!" He told Rose.

"You couldn't get rid of me if you wanted. But you don't, do you?" She smiled.

He looked away ignoring her question, "Ken wasn't it?" David asked, Ken nodded, "let's see that laptop we talked about with the gate code." Rose rolled her eyes at his deflection.

"We should also probably have a plan of some sort." Taichi said.

"It really depends on where we end up I guess, we can't plan when we don't even know where we'll be, right?" Yamato questioned Taichi.

"I mean, no but you can still prepare yourself." Taichi grumbled.

"I'm usually a wing-it kind of guy. No harm in being prepared but things never go according to plan around me." David laughed looking over his shoulder as he stood with Ken waiting on the laptop to boot up.

"Taichi, we feel weird in here. We want to go back to the network. We can listen from there. We'll be in better shape." Agumon said, Hawkmon, Palmon and the others agreed.

"That's a good idea," Taichi said, then looked over to their uneasy new associate, "it's a private digital network space for our partners to rest in a digital world not networked to anything, if you wanted to rest-" he tried to offer but a female voice spoke up and stopped him finally.

"I'm fine." She said simply, never even looking over at him. She was dismissive and deep in thought, wondering if she made the right decision to go along with these humans.

Taichi, looked back to the others and then back to her, he didn't push. Miyako opened up a computer and they all entered except Renamon.

David and Ken worked on programming the gate code onto the Tardis computer.

"The only problem is we still don't know where we're going, we may can open the door but we can't control where that door leads." Ken was telling David.

"You stepped through the first time. What's left but to go forward, we've got to find this enemy and your friends... And her friend." David pointed back to Renamon.

"The old human is right. We can't sit here, not when there's a way forward." Renamon spoke on a rare moment that caught everyone slightly off guard.

"Let's go then." Taichi said behind the others.

"We've got this, our friends need us." Yamato said beside him, backing up his friend once again.

David nodded, "then let's give it a shot!" He moved the computer console around and initiated the gate program from Ken. "Fingers crossed." He joked, then looked to Renamon, "Or paws!"

"Why in the world would I cross my-" the Tardis engines roared interrupting her and the computer crackled with energy suddenly. David pointed the energy outwards, redirecting with another machine, "Rose, open the door!" She complied as he shot the energy out of the door it crackled past and outside with a blast it formed a mirror like door. Even as the blast shook the Tardis walls David pushed the engines forward, the Tardis touched the door way and light like a flash bang engulfed everything...

..

..??

..

"How long are we gonna-" Daisuke said again his hands on his head still.

"Silence!" One of the men surrounding them said in English. 'Great, they can't understand.' They stood there unwavering for minutes in silence. Ruki next to him,

Daisuke was relieved to see some of his friends but worried where they ended up using that door. He was just home... 'Koushiro...' He grimaced at the thought, pushing back tears over his friend. 'It will have to wait for now but I'll avenge you Senpai I'm sorry I wasn't there soon enough...'

His thoughts were interrupted as a women broke their line to walk up to them. She looked a little scary, blonde, wise, beautiful, very stern. She looked them all over.

"Who are you?" She said in English. Daisuke went to speak but Haru spoke over him in English.

"This is a very odd long story, in short, we are trying to save the world. Well all the worlds and get them home..." He lost some confidence hearing the words aloud.

She looked him over for a moment, "we're experts in odd. You'll have to explain in detail though, how you appeared in a secured facility behind coded, encrypted, and retinal scan secured doors without setting a single alarm before we can put the weapons down." She said, crossing her arms.

Haru gulped, and told them in Japanese, "she says we've got to explain how we got into a secure military facility before they'll put the guns down and talk."

"Tell them the truth, it's their world in jeopardy too. The door took us here. And if we don't find the endless mind every universe in the multiverse will be destroyed." Daisuke said.

She looked straight at Daisuke, "I suppose that answers some questions." She said in Japanese to everyone's surprise. "I take it that means you're not from this universe?" She asked.

"No ma'am, we're not from here, and they're apparently from different realities besides ours," Haru said in Japanese this time, pointing to Ruki, Daisuke, and the others.

"Who is the endless mind you spoke of?" She questioned.

"We don't know," Ruki started, "but this all knowing...thing knew the monster we fought, it said to save the multiverse and stop it we had to find the endless mind, it said time is his muse he can get us to the realities, even one's that were lost to time. We're still not sure what that meant." She said.

Hikari and Takeru looked to each other, "when we opened our first door, Hikari was taken over by a consciousness that called itself time everlasting, that told us about the endless mind we had to find too. But my brother and the others went through the door to find the endless mind." Takeru told them, then looked at the blond, "we were separated before this we met back with them," motioning his head to Daisuke and the others, "right before we ended up here."

The blond looked to the leader of the group pointing guns and said, "that sound like someone you know?" The leader let her weapon go to her side, as she smirked. The others all putting their weapons down too.

"Of course she's so popular she's known in other universes." The other women said in a British accent in Japanese smugly laughing.

"You can stand up." The blonde woman said "I think we might can help you find the endless mind, but he's a she now. And we're trying to contact her as well." She said.

The group stood up, Daisuke immediately checking on Ruki, then looking to the others, he wanted to hug Hikari, his other friends even, but the woman interrupted before he could say something to them.

"I'm Kate Stewart the CSO and Head of UNIT, an international task force appointed by the UN to handle all global threats. And that-"

The leader of the armed group took off her hat, as the blond pointed to her, "hello sweeties."

"Is the one and only River Song." Kate said as she led them out of the secured vault.

As they began down the hall Daisuke finally held back and hugged his friends, Hikari, Joe, even Takeru. He was surprised to see Meiko, Michael, and Catherine there. He greeted them as well.

"Did you see my brother or any of the others?" Hikari asked, upset she still hadn't seen him.

Daisuke shook his head, "you guys were the first familiar faces I've seen in awhile. Well..." he looked to Takuma and Haru's partners.

Picking up on this, Kate asked, "so, without sounding too insensitive, what are those?" She asked pointing to the partners Daisuke was looking at.

"We're Digimon." Vmon said proudly.

"They're our partners from the Digital World." Hikari said.

"There are good digimon and bad digimon just like humans, and we're fighting a digimon who can traverse realities. Who is trying to destroy all the realities." Haru told her as she pushed open a door leading them into a conference style computer room. Multiple monitors arranged inside a large table, a few people sitting at them. A large monitor on the wall.

"What's that?" Daisuke asked pointing to the video playing on the large screen. Kate looked over at the screen, "that's one of the disruptions we've been trying to contact The Doctor about, there are these strange holes almost like doorways opening all over the world, and if someone enters-" Kate was cut off by Miyuki.

"They don't come back..." she said. The others spotted it in the video now too. "Those are gates to entire other realms, they're doors to the multiverse. We've seen them before, but not like that." She told them watching in horror as the video showed a door opening on a train track, engulfing the entire train before dissipating into nothing.

"It's out of control." River said.

"We've been trying every method we could to get ahold of the Doctor. We even reached out to her wife..." Kate said, looking to River.

"I can't wait to meet her, she's new." She grinned. The digidestined were confused. River noticed. "The Doctor is an ageless, timeless mind, so old last time I met him, he was over 2000" River looked back at Kate as she spoke.

"She told one of her companions recently she was thousands of years old, and had lost track." Kate said.

"That's impossible, how?" Ruki questioned.

"He's an alien, a Time Lord, able to live for thousands of years and even on their deathbed are able to regenerate, retaining their memories but bearing them a new body with a new personality and perspectives." Kate told them.

The entire cast of destined tried to absorb how casually she told them this monumental information.

"So aliens are real?!?!" Daisuke locked onto that one part.

"I mean that explains a lot." Ruki said.

"So that definitely sounds like who we're looking for, how can we help?" Miyuki asked.

"We've sent out a message that I hope she'll respond to soon. The Tardis is being tracked but hasn't been spotted anywhere at all. Her last companion was being tracked down, we were just trying to check in with those agents when you showed up." Kate said.

"Ma'am." An agent sitting down at a computer said.

"Yes?" Kate answered.

"We've gotten a response, agent says; last known companion, Yasmin Khan, last made contact with target days ago. Stated high probability target..." the agent stopped.

"What is it?" Kate urged them to continue.

"High probability target is regenerating." He finished.

"This is bad." River said.

"I thought you said she keeps her memories? What's wrong?" Ruki asked curiously.

"Yes but during a regeneration they're vulnerable and weakened, sometimes having a hard time regaining the memories and when they do come back it's a flood that can overload even a time lord sometimes. That also means we have no idea what The Doctor looks like now, the Tardis will also change, as they're connected at their hearts, it rebuilds itself to match. This explains why we cannot find her. Or him. Damn." River explained, frustrated by the end.

"Then we will have to wait until-" Kate started until her agent intervened again.

"Ma'am! Reports coming in, there are monsters coming out of a door that just opened in the Tower Gardens!" He said shocked.

"That just outside." Her and River ran over to a window. Daisuke and Takeru looked at each other, then he looked at the others with their partners. They all knew what the monster was.

"Get us out there, we'll stop them." Daisuke told them, Kate looked back. Determination on all their faces. Not understanding the confidence she reluctantly agreed and took them to a private lift. "Hurry," she said as they walked up to the doors, "there's two, we won't all fit in one."

She pushed the button and the first one opened. Kate, River, Ruki, Daisuke and Vmon, Hikari and Tailmon, Takeru and Patamon, Haru and Gabumon, and Takuma and Agumon all got on the first one, barely squeezing in the doors closed and it dropped quickly as they pushed the button again and the second doors opened.

Making up the second group was Kaito and Dracmon, Miyuki and Renamon, Miu and Syakomon, Michael and Betamon, Joe and Gomamon, then Catherine and Saki stood together with their Floramon who were ecstatic to see each other even in the middle of all this. Lastly was Meiko, who shyly squeezed in. The doors finally closed and the elevator sped down.

Daisuke's elevator opened and they all barreled off the elevator towards the exit, they got to the door and saw a car go flying past. Daisuke and Takeru looked at each other, took a breath and burst out of the door in the direction the car came from. The others followed.

As the second elevator reached the bottom floor, Haru and Gabumon were making their way out of the building the last in the line. Everyone took off in pursuit.

Daisuke was first when he spotted it, "Vmon!" Even in the daylight the light emitted was blinding, XVmon bursting out of it, the others closely behind, Nefertimon, Pegasusmon, Garurumon, and Greymon close behind.

"X-Laser!" The blue digimon fired.

"It looks like Allomon!" Garurumon said, familiar with the type. "They're very hardheaded, be careful!"

"Mega Flame!" Greymon fired running up beside XVmon, the Allomon, ducking down, taking the hit on it head, unfazed, it continued careening towards them, barreling through both of them.

"Fox Fire!" Tried to slow him down, again not making a dent, but swiftly avoiding a hit.

Nefertimon and Pegasusmon attempted to close line the rampaging Digimon, "Golden Noose!" They both closed in, dropping in front at the perfect time slamming the Digimon back, landing on the ground. It immediately started to get back up, barely fazed by the hit, but once up his jaw was hanging off with that same purple ooze dripping out. It roared.

"That's made of the same thing Bugendaimon oozed!" Daisuke said, knowing they didn't have to hold back, he yelled, "V!" The light was blinding again.

"Flame Dragon!" Kyubimon fired a shot as a golden streak emerged from the light.

"End this, there's innocent people getting hurt!" Daisuke yelled.

"Plasma Shot!" The golden streak fired a shot as it barreled towards the Digimon. Then another and another, as he reached Allomon it staggered back after the 3 shots. He took the opening, jumped up and point blank, "Magna Blast." It lit up right inside the digimon's broken jaw, it fired and blasted the fake digimon, obliterating it into a ton of gooey pieces.

"Oh my god, ewwwwww, this is gross!" Miu and Saki squealed. Hikari and Takeru stifling their laughter in the air decided not to come down yet.

"What the hell? That was definitely not a real digimon, they don't ever leave goo or anything else behind, they're digital, this was like it was real." Ruki said, ignoring or oblivious to the chunk of gooey meat hanging in her hair.

"I have never ever seen that," Takuma said staring into space, obviously traumatized, "it exploded..." he trailed off.

Catherine felt sick seeing it, she couldn't look anymore and turned away.

"That's the first, but I don't imagine it will be the last, things are getting-" Kate stopped mid-sentence.

It was faint, she almost continued but she heard it again. She waited, holding her hand up, "I hear them too." River said. *Woosh, woosh, woosh* As the strange noise grew louder and louder an object began to materialize in the middle of the walkway, Takeru and Hikari were landing as Daisuke jumped back as the object seemingly landed with a thud he felt, while ever seeming to move. He was throughly confused.

"Oh, you're so late." River began to storm over as the door popped open, she stopped as a man walked out, "Kate, I got your mess-" he looked up, he face wrinkled curiously.

"River?" He asked, "how in the world are you here?"

"Wait I don't understand, that face..." She looked closer, "those eyes, those wrinkles... how old are you."

He looked at her quietly.

"But how is that possible, that face again?" She quizzed him, never actually speaking but answering each question.

"I...don't know yet..." He told her. "I just found out myself. And then I got a message from Kate."

The Doctor looked at the Digidestined and their Digimon, then back to everyone covered in goop.

"What in the world happened here?" He finally asked.

..

To be continued
