Though she was confused, Dawn went to Berserk with the set of attire she was told to. After a few minutes in the locker room, she joined Kanae in the back wearing her black-and-yellow lingerie.
"Really got a set color theme, don't you?" Kanae asked.
"I look great with it, I'll have you know." Queen Bee said. "So what's the third trial? Am I grappling in jello with Sakura or maybe having a pillow fight with Moe?"
"Actually, it's this!" Kanae said pointing at the center of the dark room. Queen Bee paused to examine the large, glass tank filled with water. She also noticed the steam that were being shot out of it. There was also a large pile of ice next to it.
"What's going on?" Queen Bee asked.
"This one's a bit different than the other training methods." Kanae said. "You don't necessarily have to grapple. This is purely a test of endurance."
"You mean I have to sit in a tank of water the whole time?" Queen Bee asked. "That's boring, but doable. What's the ice for?"
"Well, the water in the tank has been heated up to scalding." Kanae said. "The slip dip of your toe in the water could make you want to get out instantly. Consider this a test of your endurance."
"So that's what it means." Queen Bee said. "Wait, then why did I have to put on underwear?"
"There used to be a time when women had a limited amount of time to change, and if they failed to change their outfit in time, they'd be doused with hot water. We'll be going in our underwear from the very start based on that concept."
Queen Bee gave a distrustful glare. "Sometimes, I think you're doing this just to annoy me. Whatever. Who am I competing against? Misaki? Rio?"
"Actually, it's me."
Queen Bee widened her eyes already knowing who it was before she turned. It was one of the women who inspired her to be a wrestler: Jackal Tojo. She appeared in a skimpy, yellow bikini.
"Jackal Tojo!" Queen Bee gasped starstruck. "You're doing this with me?"
"Why not?" Jackal asked. "I am quite interested in Kanae's student. I'll go in first."
Jackal went to one end of the tank and climbed up on it. She set foot into the bath and casually eased herself until most of her body was covered in it. Queen Bee's mouth was gaping at the sight of it.
"Well, what are you waiting for?" Jackal asked twirling her finger in a "come here" gesture.
"How did she do that?" Queen Bee asked. "Kanae, I thought you said the water was boiling hot. Scalding was your word."
Kanae shrugged. "Who can say?"
Queen Bee then widened her eyes and chuckled. "I see. This is a scare tactic. You really had me going there, Fujishita."
"This isn't a scare tactic." Jackal said. "This water is hotter than a jacuzzi."
"Please." Queen Bee scoffed as she climbed the ladder on the other end of the tank. "There's no way any human being could handle water that hot without even flinching. I bet this…" She stopped when she placed her foot in. She immediately pulled it out screaming. "AAAAHHH! WHAT THE HELL…"
"I tried to warn you." Kanae said.
"Just get in, and try to ease up." Jackal said. "The smallest splashes could sting badly."
Queen Bee gulped before doing as the world champion said. She slowly dipped herself into the water. Every inch felt like an ironing tool touching her skin. After a minute, she was up to her neck in hot water. She did her best to power through the burn seeing her body in the water darken to a shade of red.
"You doing okay?" Jackal asked.
"I feel like a piece of celery in a vegetable steamer." Queen Bee answered.
"It's not so bad once you get used to it." Jackal said. "I once spent three hours in hot water."
"You did?" Queen Bee asked in a surprised tone while trying to endure the pain.
"Yeah. Me and my old rival, Sayuri Rogue, once had a contest to see who would last longer in hot water." Jackal said.
"So who won?" Queen Bee asked.
"No one. After three hours, me and Sayuri got bored and called it a tie."
"You know, I only know of you and Sayuri Rogue through your matches." Queen Bee said nearly ignoring the boiling water around her body. "What was it like training with her?"
Jackal chuckled. "At first, it was a nightmare. She and I hated each other's guts. She always called me a blond upstart and I usually responded by calling her a witch. We were young and very competitive with each other back then. After a few years of wrestling at our original gym, we were given a chance to wrestle at Shangri-La, but there was only one spot available and we had to compete for it."
"And you won?" Queen Bee asked.
"No. I lost." Jackal admitted. "Sayuri won the right to go to Shangri-La which infuriated me. While she went to America, I transferred over to Berserk where I met Misaki, Kanae, and Juri. After helping the three of them become better wrestlers… Well, I don't know what happened in me exactly. I guess all that responsibility made me a better wrestler myself.
"One day, I finally got my chance. Talent scouts from Shangri-La saw my performance in Berserk and offered me a place there. I said my goodbyes to my students and headed to America. By the time I got there, Sayuri Rogue had just won her first championship and I was already in line to compete against her for it. Of course, she called me an upstart again, but I didn't respond to her rudeness. Instead, I proved myself in our championship match and after I beat her, she gained a lot of respect for me. After that, the belt went back and forth and sometimes went to other wrestlers, but the whole time, Sayuri Rogue and I became the greatest rivals. No one in the fanbase got bored with our matches, no matter how many we did."
"That's inspiring." Queen Bee said with eyes full of wonder. "So where's Sayuri now?"
"Well, the night I last won the championship belt from her, she and I went for a drink. While we were there, Sayuri purchased herself a lottery ticket. Much to everyone's surprise, it was a winning ticket to a vast fortune."
"Really?" Queen Bee asked. "How vast?"
"Think… Oprah times three."
"Holy cow!" Queen Bee gasped. She wanted to jump in shock, but she was afraid of burning herself more. "That rich?"
"Yes. She resigned from Shangri-La after that and left to travel the world."
"That's some story, Jackal." Queen Bee said.
"All right then. Your turn."
"My turn? For what?"
"A story. I mean, we're just sitting here. We might as well exchange."
"Wow." Queen Bee paused to think. "What's good…"
"I'll start by asking a question that a lot of your online fans are curious about. When was the last time you lost a match?"
That time, Queen Bee did slip letting her whole head get dunked into the water. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. She yelled and leaped out of the tank. She jumped toward the ice and covered her sore burns all over her body. Jackal shrugged before getting out of the tank afterwards.
"Aw." Kanae pouted holding up a large, wooden utensil. "I didn't get the chance to use this."
"Believe me, Kanae," Jackal said, "If you did that to me, you're gonna regret it. As for you, Ms. Sawyer, you still haven't answered my question."
"Why do you want to know that?" Queen Bee asked.
"Just curious." Jackal said. "You won your debut match against Hikari. Your match against Chocho was no-contest. You rolled up Digger Yamamoto for the pin. And you powered through the entire League of Evil to defeat Hornet. Many of your Japanese fans have a hard time believing that you've ever been defeated. So why don't you ease my curiosity?"
Queen Bee sighed still resting her whole body in the ice. "Fine. It was some time before I left for Japan. I've been performing wrestling gigs all over the country, sometimes doing wild matches for some extra cash. One day, I got a deal to help open up a new wrestling gym in Miami. All I had to do was wrestle against someone there. Unfortunately for me, my opponent was Gloria Gold."
"Who's Gloria Gold?" Kanae asked.
"She's another old Queen Bee wrestler who has this goddess complex." Queen Bee answered. "She's also the first person I've ever beaten in a legit match before the Queen Bee gym got shut down. As you can imagine, she was pretty angry at being beaten by a jobber."
"And she beat you?" Kanae asked.
"Basically. I had her on the ropes for a bit there until her partner yelled at me from ringside. I trashed back at her which gave Gloria the chance she needed to hit me with her signature pedigree. I got counted out right after, but Gloria was far from done with me. She and her partner pulled me out to ringside and threw me around. They slammed me to the steel steps and trash talked me until they turned away."
"Ouch, that must have hurt." Jackal said.
"Funny enough, that's exactly what the manager said to me. He assumed I must have been hurt or suffered a concussion, so he gave me a bonus to my paycheck to make up for it. I wasn't really that hurt, but who could say no to a bonus? Thankfully enough, it was just enough for me to pay for a plane ride here to Japan. It was here that I had some good matches and got revenge on Beatrice Harper. Now, I'm being humbled in these special training sessions."
"That's quite a story." Kanae said.
"Yeah." Dawn admitted. "Tell me something, Kanae. Why did you put me through all these impossible challenges? I didn't last a minute against you in the mud, Chocho had an undefeated streak in lotion sumo, and Jackal Tojo practically bathes in this hot water. How was I supposed to succeed?"
"You weren't." Kanae said. "Dawn, listen, I put you through those crazy challenges to see what you are capable of. Right now, you couldn't last a minute in the mud with me, but with some practice, you could make it to two minutes in a few weeks. Berserk breaks limits and raises women to their truest potential. We can't do that if we just use what we know."
Jackal smiled before thinking to herself. "Funny. This is just like what I said to Kanae back when I introduced her to the special training."
"I guess I never thought of it that way." Dawn said. "Thanks."
"No problem." Kanae said before looking down. She chuckled before raising her head up at Dawn. "Hey, I think you dropped something." She reached for the ground and picked up Queen Bee's bikini top.
Queen Bee blushed hard thankful she was covered in ice. "GIVE IT BACK! GIVE IT BACK NOW!"
"Don't be shy." Kanae said dangling the bikini left and right. "Just come on over here and get it."
"You are pure evil, Fujishita!" Queen Bee growled.
"Tell you what." Kanae said. "I'll give this back once you call me sensei."
"Have you been like this with Misaki and Juri too?" Queen Bee asked before he sighed. "Fine. How's about partner instead?" She extended her hand.
"Close enough." Kanae said handing the bikini back.
"Gotcha!" Queen Bee shouted. After she took back her bikini, she grabbed Kanae's arm and thrusted it overhead throwing the part-time reporter right into the hot water. Queen Bee strapped the bikini back on and jumped on Kanae grappling with her in the water.
Jackal chuckled before thinking to herself. "Well, they certainly have an interesting relationship. Maybe this can work out after all."
High above the Atlantic Ocean, a red jet soared in the clouds. Inside of that jet, in a special room, an adult woman with long, black hair relaxed in a hot tub while looking at her phone. It was there that she witnessed the extreme lumberjill match between Queen Bee and Hornet. She smiled at the action when her butler came over.
The black-haired woman rose from her hot tub revealing her black bikini with dark-blue outlines. "Sebastian, set the jet's course for Japan. It's time to head to Berserk."
"Yes, Ms. Rogue."
Author's Note: And that's all the special stuff. This chapter was one where I wanted to discuss my fanmade origins of Jackal Tojo as well as a bit of Queen Bee's backstory I wanted to put out. And on top of that, Sayuri Rogue gets to make an appearance soon. If you want more information on her, check her out in my fanfic, Xtrema.
Any and all comments are welcome.
