Okay, this chapter was incredibly difficult to write for some reason. That's why it's been a while, I am still fully invested in this story!
I'm also thinking about adding side chapters focused on the other pairings. If anyone knows any good PikaBun stories, please PM me, as I know very little about this ship!
Disclaimer: I don't own Pokémon.
Piplup POV:
It was too bad Oshawott was nowhere to be seen, he would have been perfect to battle. But I remembered that all of us would be entering the Junior Cup, so I might face off against him there.
"Huh, you too?" I heard Ash say. Dawn had just explained about us also entering the junior cup. Guess he didn't know. Well, I planned on demonstrating how much I'd grown as a battler since we parted ways.
"Yes, this is getting interesting" declared Ash, clenching both of his fists in a show of excitement. He looked pumped, and I knew this was going to be a fun match. Plus, with the way Buneary was cuddling up next to Pikachu, this might alleviate all the friction her annoying demonstrations were causing between us.
While she was a great friend, she had been too much for me to handle lately. It would be nice to be able to talk to her without getting irritated every time.
Suddenly there was a presence right next to Ash. I couldn't see it physically, but it had the aura of what humans call a "mythical Pokémon," like Mew and Celebi. It was the same aura I had sensed earlier in the day, but this time it was much stronger, indicating the Pokémon wasn't hiding itself nearly as much as it did before. Mamoswine, Buneary and I were all surprised at this and voiced so. Pikachu appeared surprised, but his tone hinted that he had been suspecting this. I figured he must have pretended to be surprised for Buneary's sake.
"What Piplup, again?" Dawn asked me. I was confused at first that she couldn't see it. Then it came to me, she couldn't see the aura because it was a Pokémon trait that let me see it. That made sense.
"I'll bet that means it's close by" Ash said. "Come on out, will ya? Dawn's a really good friend of mine. I want you to meet her." I felt a bit miffed when he said this. She wasn't the only one who wanted to meet this Pokémon, after all!
I sensed the aura moving towards Dawn, who was oblivious to it. Suddenly, a Pokémon appeared in front of Dawn, a kind that I had never seen before. This the aura of the mythical Pokémon I was sensing. It surprised Dawn when it appeared out of nowhere, causing her to gasp.
"A Pokémon?" Dawn asked curiously. The mysterious Pokémon let out a sound of fright, quickly flying away and hiding behind Ash's shoulder. It looked timid about being seen by a stranger. It obviously trusted Ash a great deal, and for good reason. I learned he was trustworthy and dependable over the time we spent with him. No wonder Dawn had a crush on him.
"Don't worry Meloetta" Ash said. So that was the girl's name, Meloetta. She was absolutely gorgeous; I couldn't help but stare as I took in her radiant beauty. I felt my heart rate shoot through the roof watching her wavy green hair with light blue dots waving in the gentle breeze. I felt my forehead tingle delightfully at the same spot she had a turquoise stone on her own head. I felt my legs wobble seeing her slender frame that oozed pure sexiness. I felt myself forget how to breathe as I gazed into her sparkling teal orbs, shining with divine light. I felt myself getting lost in the beautiful sea that was her gaze. I was unable to break my gaze away from her. Not that I wanted to.
'Oh wow, what I would do to be her lover!' I thought in loving bliss. 'I would do her anything! I would be her anything! I must have her as mine!'
"You're drooling Piplup" Buneary whispered in my ear. "Meloetta's coming over, better get your act together!" She then walked over to Pikachu to be with him.
Oshawott must have returned, as I heard him growling behind me about "stealing the love of his life." I realized he thought of me as a rival for Meloetta. Too bad for him, he wasn't even a part of the competition. That gorgeous girl was mine and mine alone!
I quickly wiped the drool off my beak as we all congregated around Meloetta, eager to converse with her. "Nice to see you again Meloetta" Pikachu said. "Don't worry, everyone here is friendly, so there is no reason to hide." I hoped she never would from me again, at least. "These are Dawn's Pokémon," Pikachu continued, "Togekiss, Mamoswine, Quilava, Pachirisu, and Buneary." Buneary snuggled into Pikachu's side again at this, causing him to look Mareepish again.
"Piplup Piplup (Hello there beautiful, I'm Piplup. I have dazzlingly beautiful water moves and am the only water fighter here.)"
"Oshawott (No you aren't)" Oshawott growled at me with restrained anger while tapping my shoulder.
I was irritated at this, how dare he interrupt me when I was telling my future mate how great I was! I nonchalantly pushed his arm off my shoulder and continued. "Lup Piplup Pilpup Piplup. (Go away you. Not only that but I am far superior to all other water types.)"
"Oshawott! (No you aren't!)" Oshawott growled loudly, the restraint on his anger obviously slipping. He tapped my shoulder again, but with much greater force.
Again, I nonchalantly pushed his arm off my shoulder. "Lup Piplup Pilpup Piplup. (Go away you. I'm irresistibly cute and we'd be perfect together. Don't you agree?)" I asked her, trying to project confidence. My confidence quickly broke, however, when I heard Oshawott start yelling at me.
"Oshawott Osha! (You think you're such a hotshot? Take this!)" Suddenly I felt myself get slammed in the back with an Aqua Jet attack.
I cried out, not at all prepared for the surprise attack.
"Osha. (Got you.)" Oshawott said, obviously pleased with my faceplant landing.
"Piplup! (You jerk!)" I replied as I stood up from the dirt. I was angry and a bit sore from that. Surprise attacks were so cheap and unfair! I heard footsteps as two people ran over.
"Piplup, you okay?" Dawn asked me as she kneeled by my side after running over. I continued glaring at Oshawott, conveying my disgust with him.
"Oshawott, why'd you do that to Piplup?" Ash reprimanded him, hands on his hips. He then pointed at me. "Now say you're sorry."
"Osha? (Really?)" he said, looking at Ash and sounding a bit confused. Then I heard him grunt as he slowly walked over to me. His eyes were shut, and his body language indicated he clearly didn't want to do this. When he reached me he bowed his head and spoke. "Osh. a. wott. (sorry.)"
His tone betrayed his words, sarcasm dripping from every syllable. There was no way I would ever accept that apology, and I wasn't even planning to in the first place!
"Lup (Apology not accepted)" I told him, turning my head up and away from him and crossing my flippers. I wasn't one to be messed with, and I wasn't afraid to start conflict. I'd show Oshawott I'm not a pushover!
Both Oshawott and I glared at each other after that, spreading a thick tension in the air. He started to growl at me, which I returned in kind. 'Well if that's the way he wants to play, so be it' I thought. I turned away from him and put my flippers on my hips in a show of disgust. Well if he wanted a fight, that was what he would get!
He was not going to win her, I was not going to lose my future mate. Especially to him!
