"Alright, let's start." Lucy cleared her throat as Jellal sat in front of her. "First things first, care to tell me a bit about yourself."
"Well, I've been around for eons. I honestly don't know how old I am at this point. My parents are both vampires and as far as I can remember they're direct descendants of the first vampire."
"Can you tell me the origin of your kind?"
"It's pretty simple actually." Jellal adjusted his seat. "A witch experimented on a bat, the bat flew away, it bit a man and thus the very first vampire is born. There are many iterations of the tale but that's the real story, you can do more research on it if you want specifics."
"Thank you for that." Lucy nodded as she took notes. "You mentioned that you find humans interesting, why is that?"
"As you know, Vampires consume blood for sustenance sometimes we eat raw meat but blood is mainly our diet. Humans aren't so happy about this so they started killing vampires." Jellal started.
"The interesting thing about that is why would they do that."
"To protect themselves. Because we don't want to die." Lucy answered.
"Yeah, I get that but think about it this way. What if those crazy animal rights activists just started killing people who aren't vegans."
"Oh my God. You make an excellent point." Lucy gasped at the realization.
"See. I mean nowadays, we don't kill humans anymore, we buy blood and that's what we drink. But even with that, there's still vampire hunters out there."
"When did vampires start buying blood?" Lucy asked.
"Around 70 years ago."
"Only 70?!" Lucy exclaimed.
"Back then we thought that the idea's absolutely crazy." Jellal chuckled.
"You mentioned that there's a vampire hunter on your tail 24/7."
"The Belserion clan is the only vampire hunter clan in existence. The rest disbanded the moment we started buying blood and stopped killing humans. Their clan's sole purpose is to exterminate vampires, that's why they haven't disbanded. The one on my tail is the daughter of their leader, Erza Scarlet."
"I've heard about her." Lucy nodded. "Ok, one last question, do you think there's a chance that humans and supernaturals can live together in peace?"
"I don't think so, but it's definitely possible.." Jellal replied. "Everyone's not perfect, conflict arises in every corner. To be perfectly honest, some vampires still prefer to kill for blood because it's 'cheaper'. Not everyone can be talked into an agreement, as long as the majority agrees then all things are fine."
"Well, that is all. Thank you so much for your cooperation." Lucy bowed.
"Glad to be of service." Jellal chuckled.
Lucy interviewed Wendy next. Wendy is still a young witch and she wasn't able to give Lucy a lot of information. However, she agreed to help her talk to her teacher, Porlyusica.
"So, how was it?" Levy asked Lucy as she finished her interview with Gajeel, Jellal, and Wendy.
"It's incredible how different their viewpoints are," Lucy said. "Too bad Juvia has to leave early. I'm sure I'll get a lot out of her."
"Just don't ask them too much okay." Levy chuckled.
"Thanks for the help again." Lucy smiled.
"No problem." Levy giggled.
Lucy deeply sighed as she dropped all her belongings to the ground.
"Hey, Lucy."
"GAHH!" Lucy screamed as she suddenly saw Natsu sitting on her couch.
"What are you doing here?" Lucy questioned, still recovering from the shock.
"I promised to help you right?" Natsu giggled and walked up to her.
"I have a couple of beings in mind that are willing to be interviewed by you."
"Well, thanks for that, but I'm really tired, it can wait for tomorrow, I'm not really in a rush with this."
"Oh, okay." Natsu's gaze lowered, slightly disappointed with her response.
"But you're welcome to stay if you want to." Lucy smiled.
Natsu's smile grew brighter.
"Just stay here while I go change," Lucy said, and Natsu nodded.
Lucy smiled as she walked upstairs. If she is being perfectly honest, she's pretty intimidated by Natsu and his friends at first, but she has learned that the demons are really nice.
"What do you drink?" Lucy asked the salmon-haired demon as she prepared their evening snack.
"Do you have wine? Beer? Vodka?" Natsu enumerated. "You know what, anything alcoholic will do."
"I have a bottle of Gin," Lucy spoke as she brought the bottle and two glasses to the table.
Natsu smiled and poured himself a drink.
"Can I ask you something?" Lucy spoke.
"Fire away!"
"How come you're so nice to me?" The blonde asked. "I mean you're a demon for a reason."
Natsu chuckled and placed the glass he was holding back on the table. "I am a demon and I'm an asshole to pretty much everyone but I make exceptions, and you, my dear, you're an exception."
"Why?"
Why? There are so many reasons why. Natsu couldn't say it because he didn't want to scare her.
"No reason. I just find you intriguing." Natsu shrugged and chuckled.
"I've read about you," Lucy spoke. "I know the things that you've done."
"Which one?" Natsu asked. "Some of them are bullshit."
"Does it bother you?" Lucy perked up, considering someone's past, it's quite uncomfortable to have your entire life published for the world to see.
"It happens." Natsu shrugged. "I'm royalty back when I'm still human. My entire life story is bound to be written in several books and websites. Supernaturals that lived for hundreds of years don't really care about their past too much anymore."
Is that why Gajeel, Jellal, and Wendy were extremely cooperative when she interviewed them.
"Your friends, Gray and Juvia, I didn't find anything about them when I read about you."
"Those two weren't even born the moment I died. I met them when we were already demons. If I remember correctly, they were also royals around the early 1600s. You can find books that have them on it."
"I see."
"Why are you so curious about this whole thing anyway?" Natsu asked.
"Well, I just think that even if we're all different. We can all coexist without any conflict. I mean look at you. I'm a complete stranger and you're helping me."
Natsu chuckled. "I think you're forgetting the reason why I'm nice to you."
"Thank you anyway." Lucy smiled.
December 1628
The chilly winter breeze flowed through her skin as she managed to sneak out of her own coming-of-age party.
She breathed in the minty fresh air and giggled as she danced around the garden. That is where she spotted him. A young prince with a white mask that covers half of his face.
"Hello." She greeted the young prince. "You're Prince Gray from the Northern Isles correct?
The young prince slowly looked at her and nodded slightly. "Your Highness."
The young princess smiled and sat beside him.
"What is Prince Gray doing here? Doesn't he like the party?" The young princess addressed.
"The party is brilliant." The young prince reassured the young princess that there was nothing wrong. "I just don't like crowds."
"Juvia is the same!" The young princess giggled.
The young prince smiled and the young royalties started forming a bond. They talked for hours about their likes, dislikes, hobbies, and many more.
"Juvia doesn't want to be rude. But she's just really curious, why does Prince Gray wear a mask?" Juvia asked, anxious that she took their conversation a little too deep.
"It's alright." Gray comforted the girl. "I wear a mask to hide something on my face." The young Prince slowly took off the mask to reveal a black mark that ran across his right eye.
"Prince Gray's face looks fine to Juvia." The young princess smiled.
"You really think so?"
The young princess nodded. "Prince Gray looks charming with his mark."
