Day 53

He was listening to a podcast about the Meta Liberation Army. He had already read the book through and through multiple times. And although Hawks wasn't known for liking school he was one for being prepared and understanding what he was getting into.

"What would you do if you weren't a villian?" The question came from Toga who was looking longingly out of the window. She was 90% of the time crazy and flamboyant and the other 10% she was lost and seemed to be stuck in her head.

The question seemed to throw the group of them off but no one made a rude comment… but no one really wanted to be first to answer either.

"Imma villian for life." Twice defends himself, "I tell you I would be a comedian."

Hawks that that ge could actually see that for the guy.

Toga's moment of internal wander seemed to pass while she bounced to the couch cushion, "It would be so cool to be an idol. They have the nicest clothes and the groups always been to be the nicest of friends."

Hawks imagined Toga doing a cutesy dance in an idol group and he couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculousness of the image.

"What would you do if you weren't a hero?" The teen turned to him.

He'd never thought of anything outside of bringing a hero. But the question only brought one image to his mind.

Ali.

"A house husband." He replied simply. His hands behind his head while he looked up into the ceiling. Seeming to imagine how nice that would be.

She enjoyed work. He already knew this. He'd stay home and cook and clean for her if that's what she wanted. He'd do all of the domestic chores and, if they chose to have kids, he'd make sure that he was the best parent to them.

The group seemed to see his far away orbs.

"Do you have a girlfriend? Someone you looove?" Toga's voice was both pitched and soft.

Dabi laughs probably thinking of all the people they've slept with, but he catches Hawks face.

Reading the questioning look, Hawks answers, "We're not together anymore."

"Awe Man, you should have said something. Is it because-"

Hawks stops Dabi. For many reasons. He hated how he genuinely sounded like he cared. He sounded like a friend. He felt the closeness and the bond that they'd created pull in him.

"Nah. I fucked it up on my own. We were together for four years but had to keep it a secret." Hawks s offs thinking of his next words, "Commission wanted their heartthrob playboy to play his role. So she always had to see me doing publicity stunts with different people. The hiding got to be too much."

They're all quiet around him.

He continues, zoning out and keeps talking.

"If I wasn't a hero, we'd be hand in hand, and we'd be smiling and be living in our own paradise. There would be no hurt or hate. We'd live somewhere where she would make our own paradise. Where the skies are always blue and I could fly free and take her with me."

He doesn't realize that he's got tears rolling down his cheeks as he is speaking.

Toga, Twice and Dabi don't speak but he feels the unspoken words when Dabi's hand finds and squeezes his shoulder.
