Birds called go each other through their sing-song voice as the morning started at Camp Wawanawkwa.
In the boys' side of the Bass cabin, Duncan was the first to walk up. He sat up in bed, stretched, then got down on the ground to do some push-ups.
He breathed in and out as he pushed his body up and down, becoming aware of a horrible stench just below him.
Finally, he could take it no longer; he opened his eyes to see one of Harold's soiled underwear on the ground.
He yelped, and dove away, waking up the rest of the Bass boys.
Geoff and DJ immediately began laughing at Duncan, while Ezekiel blearily rubbed his eyes, saying, "What... what's going on?"
"Harold!", said Duncan, as the dweeb himself got up out of bed.
"What?", said Harold, a note of challenge in his voice.
Duncan mellowed out. "Um, nothin'", said Duncan, pushing the underwear towards Harold with disgust. "Just... just pick up your underwear next time."
As Duncan turned to leave, Harold yelled out, "Hey, those aren't mine!"
Duncan, however, wasn't listening, as he slammed the screen door on his way outside.
(Duncan): Do I like smelling Harold's nasty underwear every morning? (Scoffs) No. But I need his and Ezekiel's votes, so I just got to deal with it.
As Duncan walked towards the lake, the sound of sobbing could be heard from the girls' side.
A quick pan in reveals Sadie, crying over a picture of her and Katie together.
"Oh, Katie.", said Sadie, then began crying again.
On the other side of the room, the only other remaining girl on the Bass team was covering her ears with a pillow.
(Eva): Geez, and I thought I'd never wish for Courtney's bickering to come back.
Cut to on the beach, where Chris has assembled the 14 remaining campers.
"Every day here at Wawanawkwa, a delivery van comes in with all the nutritional supplies we need.", explained Chris, as a delivery van backed up out of the water.
The window of said van is rolled down to reveal a dolphin.
"This is where your challenge for the day comes in.", said Chris, walking to the back of the van. He grabbed the handle to the door, and rolled it up, revealing several fresh supplies of food.
"You will all cook a three-course meal, to be judged by me. An appetizer, main course, and desert. The winners of this challenge will receive an under-the-stars, five-star meal."
Most of the campers who heard this began to salivate at the thought of a meal far, far above Chef Hatchet's standards of cooking.
"You will grab the supplies from this truck, and head to the kitchens to prepare your meal. Starting... now!"
Chris walked off as the Bass made it to the truck first.
"Wow, we have all the supplies in here to make a rockin' Italian meal!", whooped Geoff.
"Hello, head chef.", said Duncan.
"Wow, really?", replied Geoff, looking excited.
Duncan was about to answer in the affirmative, when Eva came from behind and stepped on his foot.
As Duncan stifled a yelp, Eva said to Geoff, "He's just kidding; we would never leave such an important task to you."
Geoff looked extremely hurt, as DJ walked up and put a and on his shoulder. "Girl, what's your problem?"
"I don't have a stinking problem. I'm head chef and that's the end of the story.", she said, and walked off. Duncan glared at her retreating form.
Soon, the Bass were unloading their necessary ingredients for their Italian cuisine.
Ezekiel and Sadie were the last to leave the delivery van.
Sadie looked down at the box of tomatoes she was carrying to the kitchen, and a single tear fell down her cheek.
"Katie, used... used to love putting... tomatoes on her hamburgers.", she practically screeched, as she ran up to the kitchen.
Ezekiel rubbed the back of his ear guiltily.
Soon, the Gophers had unloaded their food as well, and were now on their side of the kitchen.
Heather was reading off a clipboard she was holding. "Now, we're all going to have to split off into pairs to cook the meal. Noah and Cody, you work well together so you'll be a pair."
Heather looked to Gwen and Trent, the former of which took an involuntary step to the latter.
Heather, however, smiled a wicked grin. "No, I don't think so. Gwen and Lindsay, you'll be together, as will Trent and Beth."
"And what are you going to be doing, your highness?", said Gwen, irritated.
Heather's eyes twitched at the sound of Gwen's nickname for her. "I'll be supervising, weird goth girl."
Gwen groaned, then turned to Lindsay. The blonde was holding the knife by the point. "Now, which part cuts again?"
Cut to the Bass' side of the kitchen, where Eva is currently standing in front of her expectant teammates.
"All right, here's the plan.", she began, glaring at anyone who might interject. "We are going to create an appetizer, main dish, and desert from my native country in Eastern Europe."
She then pulled out a thick cookbook, and passed it to DJ. "Um, I can't read this.", the gentle giant said.
Duncan grabbed the book from DJ's hands, and looked at the pictures provided with the cooking instructions. "Um, are we sure Chris is going to want to eat this?", he said, pointing to a picture of a gross looking stew.
"Um, are you saying my country's food is gross?", said Eva, a note of danger in her voice.
DJ interrupted before things could get nasty. "What Duncan is trying to say is that everyone likes Italian food. Maybe let Geoff be head chef, just this once."
"OK, let's get one thing straight here.", said Eva, in a quiet, but commanding, voice. "With Courtney gone, I am the team leader of the Killer Bass. Not Geoff, not Duncan, me. Does anyone else have a problem with that?"
Hoping to diffuse the situation, Ezekiel grabbed the cookbook from Duncan and said, "Hey, I can ready this. Let's just get started."
"Fine.", said Eva, walking off, unaware of all the Bass' glares.
Cut back to the Gophers, where Trent and Beth are spreading sauce on a pan full of ribs.
Heather walks up to the pair. She nods respectfully to Trent, but narrows her eyes at Beth.
"Beth, could you explain what you are doing to me?", she said, falsely sweet.
"Um, spreading sauce?", said Beth, confused but scared she was doing it wrong.
"No, no you are not.", said Heather, suddenly becoming nasty. "You are slathering sauce on, not spreading it. It has to be spread evenly about, not into every pore of the meat. I can't believe you can't do this right, you..."
As Heather incessant criticisms continued, Beth glared at her.
(Beth): So, OK Heather can be a little bossy. She borrows my clothes without asking, she makes me rub lotion on her alligator skin, etc, etc. (sighs) But she's still my friend, right? (Scratches her chin) Right?
Cut back to the Bass, where Ezekiel and Sadie are chopping up vegetables for the stew Duncan saw in the book.
Ezekiel looks at Sadie as he does this, and sees silent tears streaking down her face.
Ezekiel blushes before saying, "You know, Katie wouldn't want you to be crying all the time. I heard her last elimination; she would want you to win this thing without her help!"
Sadie sniffed, and looked at Ezekiel. "But me and Katie did everything together, including signing up for this show. How am I supposed to win this hung without a single friend?"
"Oh, c'mon, you've got friends here."
"No, I don't.", Sadie said indignantly. "I know what the rest of the team thinks of me and Katie. Heck, I know what everyone on this stupid island hunks of us."
Ezekiel looked to be steeling up to something. "You know, I could be your friend."
"What?", said Sadie, startled.
"I can be your friend, until you see Katie again.", explained Ezekiel, looking hopeful.
Sadie remembered Ezekiel awkwardly congratulating her at the end of the Phobia Factor challenge, and her and Katie's conversation in the canoe.
"... OK.", said Sadie, giving a hopeful smile to Ezekiel.
On the other side of the kitchen, Duncan an Harold watch.
Later in the afternoon, Trent takes the pan of ribs out of the stove. He places it on the counter, as every Gopher walks up to it, sniffing it greedily.
Heather walks up, but narrows her eyes at Beth once again.
"Did you listen to a thing I said?!", she yelled, cutting into the team enjoying the smell of the ribs.
"What do you... you know what, I don't want to hear it.", said Beth, walking away.
"Excuse me, don't you turn your back on me!", said Heather, visibly shocked along with everyone else.
"I'm tired of you treating me and Lindsay like slaves!", said Beth, heating up. "Do you know what it's like to rub lotion on your nasty pits?"
Heather blushed furiously. "You... you take that back."
"No, you know what, I'm out of your stupid, little alliance!", said Beth triumphantly, throwing her apron to the ground.
"Wait, an alliance?", said Gwen, narrowing her eyes at Heather.
As Heather looked nervous, Beth turned to Lindsay. Heather soon turned to Lindsay as well, saying, "You're still friends with me, right, Lindsay?"
Lindsay looked at Beth then Heather... finally nodding her head nervously at Heather.
Beth sighed in sadness, then walked away.
Nearing dinner time, Chef walked into the Bass' side of the kitchen to check on the campers.
A horrible smell greeted him, causing him to clutch his mouth and run off.
Inside the kitchen, three horrible looking dishes are spread out on the counter. The Bass are holding their noses, covered in the remnants of the dishes.
Eva is the only one not turned off by the smell, looking proudly at her creation.
"Ten minutes until judging, campers!", came Chris' voice from outside the kitchen.
"Great!", said Eva, uncommonly exuberant. "This'll really knock his socks off."
Duncan spooned some of the bubbling stew up. "At least we can agree on that." He tasted it, then shuddered in abject disgust.
Cut to the empty plates of the Gophers' meal. Chris is leaning back in his seat, rubbing a napkin over his mouth.
"Mmm, that was some good ribs.", said Chris to Heather. "It'll take a miracle for the Bass to win this challenge."
Across the room, where the Bass were standing, Duncan muttered under his breath. "Yeah, a miracle. Straight from the pits of..."
"What was that?", growled Eva.
"Nothin'!", said Duncan, holding up his hands in surrender.
Soon, the Gophers' plates were taken away to be replaced with the Bass' meal.
"Uh, what is this?", said Chris, poking at a lumpy meat of some kind.
"It's... our meal, of course.", said Harold, nervously.
Chris shrugged, and spooned a bit of the stew into his mouth...
Immediately cut to outside the mess hall where Chris is being wheeled on a stretcher into an ambulance.
Before the ambulance wheels away, Chris sits up, coughing up chunks of stew.
"The Gophers win this challenge.", he said weakly. "I'll see the Bass at the elimination ceremony... right after I get my stomach pumped."
The ambulance rode away.
Cut to later that night. Chris, extremely pale and holding a cane, is holding the plate of one last marshmallow.
Eva and Ezekiel both looked at the treat with terror.
"The final marshmallow goes to..." Chris' stomach groaned, and he clutched it. "Sorry, I'm still a little messed up after that failed poisoning attempt."
"Hey!", said DJ. "We didn't all try to poison you... Just Eva."
"You can shut your mouth, chicken!", yelled out Eva, getting up and pointing into DJ's face.
While she did this, Chris threw the last marshmallow to Ezekiel. "Eva, you're going home.", said Chris, smiling wickedly.
"What!?", yelled out Eva. "I'm the strongest member of this team, I'm your leader, I am your only hope of making it to the merge unscathed."
Chris picked up a walkie-talkie. "Chef, we got a code nine."
"And as for you!", said Eva, pointing at Duncan. "You... You betrayed me!"
What she was going to say next was eluded however, when Chef grabbed her from behind.
Cut to Eva in a straight jacket, on the boat of losers.
As the boat drifts further away, Eva yells unintelligible threats and insults at her former teammates.
The remaining Bass watched until she was out of sight, then turned to walk back to their cabin.
All except Ezekiel, Harold, and Duncan.
"What did she mean by betraying her, eh?", said Ezekiel.
Duncan shrugged. "I don't know why she singled me out. It's a mystery."
He and Ezekiel walked off, leaving Harold to narrow his eyes at Duncan.
Later, Beth is eating leftover spaghetti from the four star dinner on the porch of the Gophers' cabin.
Heather and Lindsay soon walk up. "So, Beth, me and Lindsay have been talking, and we think we can let you back in the alliance if you take back everything you say."
Beth pondered this fr a moment, then looked away, pretending she couldn't hear them.
"Fine. Have it your way. Let's see how far you make it without me.", Heather stalked off.
Lindsay began to follow, then looked back. Beth was still pretending they didn't exist. Lindsay sighed, then followed Heather.
