1945

"There they are! Get them!"

Loud shouts echoed through the dark woods, men holding stakes, pitchforks, and lamps. Searching for the beasts they intended to kill.

A tall and muscular man led the pact. His bright scarlet hair stood out the most. His name is Claude Belserion, the leader of the most notorious vampire hunter clan in the world. Their goal is to eradicate the race for the betterment of humankind.

The group searched around the forest but found nothing. Claude gritted his teeth and cursed under his breath, knowing that the vampires had gotten away again.

Beyond the woods, lies what is known as Northern Fiore, the land of the Supernaturals. No one in their right mind would dare to step foot on the land. Even though there are several cases of humans mistreating Supernaturals they can't seem to face them all at once.

"I swear in my honor, I will slay him." Claude gritted his teeth in anger.

During this time there are Vampire Hunter Clans that are known in each town and city as they are the protectors of their homeland from Vampires. Creatures that linger through their right, hunting for their prey. For as long as Claude has lived he has encountered one particular Vampire that he has grown to hate and that is none other than Mystogan Fernandez.

"Next time, I'll be sure to be by your side so we can work together to slay this monster." Claude's son, Rung declared.

Claude chuckled and patted his son on the shoulder and smiled. "For sure, however, I'm not as young as I used to be."

"What are you saying? Don't talk like that!" Rung exclaimed.

Claude laughed playfully. "It's not like that, I've been trying to kill that Vampire even before I met your mother, all I'm saying is, if there is a time that I can't do it any longer and he's still out there, I want you to kill him for me. In the name of Belserion."

Rung nodded, determination spreading across his face. "In the name of Belserion."

Claude together with his son and his men, searched through the woods for vampires lurking deep within, walking deeper into the forest, they saw two corpses sprawled on the ground. Two young beautiful women, dead, bite marks on their necks.

"We're too late," Claude said.

"The bite is still fresh, we can still catch them." Rung spoke. "Track them down quickly!" Rung ordered the men.

Deeper within the woods are three vampires, observing the men that disturbed their meal.

"It's no good, we should leave." A black-haired man said.

"It's just the two of them left, we knock them down and we're golden." A man with blue hair chuckled. "Your daughter hasn't had anything to drink yet and it's been weeks. We can handle those bastards."

"Alright." The man nodded and turned over to the child with them.

"Darling, you go hide in the tree over there, wait until the coast is clear, we'll take care of this." The father informed the little girl who obediently followed, turning into a bat and latching onto the highest branch of the tree.

The two vampires stealthily surrounded the hunters, preparing to attack.

"Father," Rung called to the attention of his father.

"I know, prepare yourself." Claude pulled out his sword.

Vampires are creatures that are known to be hard to kill. The only thing that can kill a vampire is the sun. Wizards crafted weapons to be given to hunters in order to slay them. Although not every wizard can be convinced to do so.

In the present day, these weapons are unheard of and wizards decline any form of requests regarding the weapon. The current Belserion Clan uses wooden stakes made from a specific tree to slay vampires.

The two vampires became weary of the man holding the weapon.

The blue-haired man used his power to rustle some bushes on their opposite sides to distract them. Within a second, he leaped in and steeped them off their feet. The other jumped in next and knocked them down completely.

But Claude and Rung were persistent, despite the attack, they stood back up, preparing for battle.

The vampires fought, easily dodging and blocking their attacks. Their superior strength is overwhelming and Rung is easily beaten to the ground but Claude's perseverance is just growing stronger with each strike.

"I'm not going down so easily," Claude stated. "I'm here to slay you once in for all Mystogan!"

Mystogan tsked, growing impatient. The stubborn hunter is starting to really annoy him. However, he does understand where his conviction is coming from. Using his magic, dark mist enveloped their surroundings. Rung who was already laying on the ground immediately succumbed to its effects.

Claude gripped the hilt of his sword as tightly as he could. His vision is spinning and his head feels like it's being torn apart. He groaned, falling to his knees, the sword being his only form of support. The air around him is suffocating and he feels like passing out but he won't let that happen.

"Darling, it's safe now." Claude heard a voice. He tried opening his eyes but his vision was still blurry.

He heard the sound of leaves rustling and he knows that the vampires are feasting on the corpse before them and if he doesn't do anything quickly. He and his son would be having their next meal. He groaned in pain and tried his best to stand on both of his feet, his vision started getting clearer and he leaped in with no hesitation, his sword in hand.

"Papa!" The little girl screamed as she saw the man with the sword.

Mystogan is quick on his feet to push the vampire away.

The vampire gasped at the sight and quickly grabbed his daughter, securing her protectively in his arms.

Dark red blood fell on the ground, mixing with the soil.

"Leave." Mystogan groaned, blood dripping from his mouth down to his chin. The sword pierced through his chest. "Please... save yourselves."

Not wanting any more harm to come upon them the vampires turned into bats and disappeared into the night.

Jellal smiled fondly as he looked at the small picture he held in his arms. It's the only reminder of his lost loved ones, the only one left at least. It's a picture of him and his twin brother.

"Everlasting life, I wonder why humans are so fond of a cruel fate." He spoke softly as he stared at the beautiful scenery before him. He closed his eyes as his thoughts lingered on that of olden times,

"I wish you could get to see this Mystogan." He chuckled. "You would love it for sure."
