Disclaimer: I don't own Pokémon.

Piplup POV:

Pure terror flooded my veins at the sight of the enormous Pokemon in front of us. The bright light reflected harshly off its metallic coat, making the outline of the massive Steelix even more intimidating.

I shook along with Oshawott as it glared at us. I couldn't help but wonder; what was a Steelix doing here? Wasn't this supposed to be Onix Island? The Steelix narrowed its eyes at us, an angry look on its face.

"Despicable" it growled. "Your kind is not allowed on my island." I was confused; what did it mean by its island?

"Your island?" I asked in a pathetic squeak. I ignored the 'despicable' comment, as confusing and irritating as it was. I had no desire to get in a fight with this giant. Call it self-preservation. The Steelix growled again.

"I'm the king of this island, scum." Scum, seriously? What was this thing's problem?! I scowled at this self-proclaimed 'king' as my anger quickly grew.

"Scum? If anyone's scum, it's you! Seriously jerk, what is your problem?!" I fumed. I felt an elbow smack my side harshly.

"Shut up, dude" Oshawott hissed lowly, gripping my flipper even harder. "Don't make it angrier." He was right, of course, but I was incensed. This thing needed to be put in its place! The Steelix let out a low, deep growl.

"Don't play dumb" it spoke venomously. "Your actions speak volumes. It's obvious you two like each other. Two males together." I quickly tore my flipper out of Oshawott's grasp and returned it to my side. "So unnatural, so wrong. You both know better." I was confused, how did we know better? And why was two males being involved with each other so wrong?

"What's the problem?" I asked. "So what if we are in love? How does that affect you? Why do you think it's wrong?" The Steelix shifted slightly, its metal body shining brighter in the light. I realized it was also getting hotter for some reason.

"You know better, scum. There are no gay legendaries." Again with calling me scum!? What a piece of shiny junk!

Now I was really angry. How dare it try to dictate what I can and can't do!

"That's MY business, not yours!" I screamed at it. "So what if I'm in love with another guy? He's the most sweet, cute and brave Pokemon I have ever known! I love him and you can't stop me from loving him!" I heard a gasp come from my side but paid no attention to it as I continued to glare at the Steelix in rage. "And you say there aren't gay legendaries; how would you know? Why would they tell you that, let alone care about you?! You may think yourself a king, but really you're just an ordinary Steelix, and a very weak one at that!" I instantly regretted calling it 'weak' and 'ordinary' as its eyes widened.

'Oops' I thought. For the second time this trip, my big mouth had got me in trouble.

"Weak?" the Steelix chuckled darkly. "I'll show you weak, you unacceptable freak." It stretched up as high as it could, the sun being blocked out by its massive body. "Gay scum like you must be eliminated!"

The Steelix launched itself downward with its mouth gaping open in a Crunch attack. I let out a terrified shriek as I jumped to the right and out of the way. My eyes were wide open as adrenaline filled my system. This thing was trying to kill me!

I landed on my feet and turned my head, firing a Bubblebeam; only to see that the Steelix was gone, a giant hole indicating that it had used Dig. I looked around cautiously, trying to sense it in the ground beneath my feet. But I felt nothing.

"Did it leave?" I heard Oshawott say to my left, apparently dodging the opposite way of me.

"I doubt it, that thing was really angry" I replied grimly. "I'm not sure wh-"

The ground suddenly shook and the next thing I knew I was flying high through the air along with large chunks of soil. I yelled as an Iron Tail connected with my side, sending me flying through the hot air.

I landed harshly on my back as hot sand scattered around me. My side really hurt from that Iron Tail attack, it had been a solid hit. I opened my eyes and saw I was back on the beach, having apparently been flung quite far. It was extremely hot now, unlike when I left.

Seriously, why was it so hot?

I heard a roar as the Steelix shot up through the sand, all 50 plus feet of it towering over me. I tried to stand up to run but felt my joints seize up. 'Oh no, not paralysis again!' I thought. I seriously should not have gone on this trip.

I looked up at it as terror flooded through me. "Am I still weak?" the Steelix taunted, lowering itself so that its giant face was next to mine. "You're a sick freak of nature. All Pokemon follow the ways of the legendaries. Those who don't must be eliminated." It rose all the way up into the ever-intensifying sunlight and prepared another Crunch attack. "And there are no gay legendaries."

As the Steelix opened its huge mouth to use Crunch, I tried to roll to my left and managed to move a few feet away before paralysis struck again.

Suddenly a huge beam of fire engulfed the Steelix, who roared in pain at the super effective attack. The heat coming from this apparent Flamethrower was by far the most intense I had ever felt, many times more than what Quilava had ever accomplished. After about 20 seconds, the Flamethrower morphed into more of a tornado, like a Fire Spin attack.

The fire beam lasted at least a minute, likely more, before finally ceasing. The Steelix collapsed flat on the beach afterwards, not making a sound. Smoke was rising from its entire length, its once silvery steel body was now as black as soot. Several spots looked like the steel had actually melted.

I sat up and stared at it, completely shocked. What once was apparently the king of the island was now an unmoving pile of smoking rubble. I wondered if it was dead.

I looked up in grateful awe. What had saved me? And what had that kind of power?

I saw an orange speck fade into the sky.
