Percy POV:
Greek Gods - They Exist!?
The well-known Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has always housed over hundreds of students being one of the finest institutes for magic there is. Hogwarts has always had a Headmaster to run the school, with the portraits of the predecessors hanging in the office. Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, the current in this position, has always been a famous figure throughout the wizarding world. However, has all his information been reliable? A few years ago Dumbledore along with Harry Potter had reported that He who must not be named had returned, a claim which turned out to be true. Recently, several students had sent home owls to their parents regarding an announcement their headmaster made.
This year, Hogwarts had undergone several changes including the lack of prefects, head boys, head girls, as well as adding an extra year to the education of students for Hogwarts. One change which stands out was the arrival of 3 American students from an entitled CHB school of magic, one specifically for witches and wizards with half-blood status.
The announcement revealed that CHB wasn't actually an institute much like Hogwarts, but rather a Camp for the children of Greek Gods, but is this true? It is known that the 3 foreign students: Annabeth Chase (Ravenclaw), Nico Di Angelo (Slytherin), Percy Jackson (Gryffindor); had been attending Hogwarts for at least half a year with well-balanced grades, and activities outside of class as well, but are they really half-gods?
'They're the reason why Hogwarts has been attacked so many times this year!' commented Hufflepuff student Zacharias Smith from a letter sent home to his father. Hogwarts had also been receiving invasions from creatures unknown to the wizarding world such as the newly known empousa, minotaur, a different branch of giants.
Hogwarts is expected to have a new enemy, one that had been alliance themselves with the mythology world which was the intended reason for these 'half-gods' to come. Dumbledore had also claimed that He who must not be named had returned, again, a while ago. Is Dumbledore telling the truth, or has he really gone mad after so many decades of fighting dark wizards? As for the...
I stopped reading and handed the paper back to Hermione. I was never one to usually read the news because most of the time it was irrelevant in my opinion. Of course there was that time I was on the news with Annabeth, and my Satyr friend Grover Underwood because of Smelly Gabe, my mom's former husband, seeing the picture at the front of the paper. Showing a picture of Annabeth, Nico and I walking to class together, along with another of Dumbledore - I was intrigued.
I looked to the Ravenclaw tables where it seemed that Annabeth had got wind of the Daily Prophet's paper this morning. I looked over to Hermione who was rereading the paper with a face of pondering, catching my glance, she quickly lowered her head deeper within the paper. Ron and Harry were sitting next to her, both looking at the Prophet as well. I pushed back my plate of half eaten toast, got up and left the table.
"Hey Seaweed Brain," Annabeth remarked, she caught me as I headed down the corridor, ghosts flitting by. "Hey," I responded, stopping. "I'm guessing you have heard about the prophet too."
She nodded. "Read off of someone in Ravenclaw," Annabeth explained. "I'm getting more or less the same reception you are from them. It's very awkward."
"Well, this wasn't the first time the Prophet posted something like this," We turned around to see a blonde Ravenclaw student poke her head in between us. "Here," She handed me a magazine the words: the Quibbler; large on the cover. "My dad's the editor."
"Percy, Nico," Annabeth explained. "This is Luna Lovegood. She's a Ravenclaw in a year lower than us." Luna smiled at us kindly, looking as if she was dreaming in a way. I absently noticed the long string of butterbeer corks that wrapped around her neck and the curious earrings she wore before flipping through the Quibbler. At first glance, it certainly wasn't the Prophet, not only with the writing style, but more so the content. The quibbler had several odd articles, many on conspiracy theories, but also several topics that wouldn't normally be covered in regular newspaper. It was very confusing, but interesting and certainly odd. I liked it
"I've heard of you," I said. I remembered her passing by a couple of times in the hallways. Some students called her 'Looney'. I left that part out. "I think I've seen you around before, though we haven't really talked yet."
"Yeah." She drawled with a smile. "I believe you, you know."
"What's not to believe?" Annabeth retorted.
"Daddy and I travel sometimes, we always want to see different creatures. Took a trip to America one year trying to see some Dabber Blimps and Moon Frogs. There were strange things happening that trip."
"Strange?" Annabeth mused.
"We went near that place, whatdoyoucallit? Oh yes, the Bert-moon Triangle,"
"Bermuda." Annabeth corrected.
"Are you sure?" Luna said. "I suspect it's real name is Bert-moon because moon frogs live there since it's a secret passage to the moon. That's why no one can go there! The Moon frogs don't want others to know!" A group of Slytherins passed by, snickering, at the front of them was a girl with a pug-like face. "Loony! Loony!" She cackled. "And what's this? The half-gods are friends with the weirdo!" There was another set of laughter, the rest of her friends laughing with her.
"Shut it." I snapped.
"Oooo," She said, the others echoing her. "Chase, you may want to be careful. It looks like Jackson may like Loony!"
"I'd think you ought to worry about other things." Annabeth retorted.
"Like what?" She asked, sneering.
"Like your grades or rather your hair," Annabeth suggested. "It looks like a horse stamped on it."
She wrinkled her nose. "Better be careful, watch over yourself." She left with her friends whispering amongst them as they shot back glowers at us. "Pansy Parkinson," Luna explained. "Not a very pleasant person, but I suspect it's because she secretly reads the quibbler and doesn't want anyone to know." This was followed by a trail of giggles. "I think she's much stranger than people think of me."
"Luna, strange occurrences?"
"Oh yes. My dad and I were riding the muggle things that magically float."
"A boat," I corrected.
"A boat," She drawled, "That's what it's called. Must be full of Nargles."
"Uh, what happened?" I asked, although I sort of wanted to know what a Nargle was. "There was some sort of wave," Luna continued. "So big that the boat broke! We had some Gillyweed on us, and were able to get out of there though."
I pursed my lips, we were on the Princess Andromeda ship when we were trying to get into the Sea of Monsters to find Grover. I might have caused Luna's ship to sink. "I'm sorry," I said. "That might have been me,"
"It's all right," She answered. "Although we didn't find any Moon frogs, it was still fun."
"Why were you carrying Gillyweed?" Annabeth asked. Gillyweed, from what I heard from Neville, was a plant that allowed someone to breathe underwater. "Bait," Luna answered. "I heard there were a lot of Dabber Blimps in America, we wanted to see them. Have you seen any?" Her eyes went all big as if she had just learnt some sort of secret. "Do they reside among you and the other half-gods!?"
"Uh, not that I know of." I responded. "I don't even know what's happening at Camp right now or what's going to happen with all this now revealed. It doesn't seem to have achieved the effect we wanted."
"Give it some time," Annabeth put a hand on my shoulder. "I guess it's just an adjustment period." While she sounded confident, I could tell that she was worried as well. Maybe even more than me. Her eyes had a constant anxious look and she frowned very often. She didn't like it what we did, even if she thought it was for the best.
"Well," Luna said, pulling out some sort of contraption with many sticks and splashes of colour. "Class should be starting soon. You have Divination sometimes, don't you, Percy? Maybe Professor Trelawney will have some insight to the future."
