Chapter 4 – Letter from no one.
After having spent days inside her cupboard with nothing to entertain her other than the spiders, and an occasional conversation whit her resident voice – a brown owl was flying above the house in the daytime carrying a small letter before dropping it and resting atop of a chimney seemingly waiting for something.
Hadriana knew what day it was, as she left the kitchen to grab the mail hating it that she had to listen to her uncle's command. There was a small pile of letters on the floor in front of the foor – Hadriana quickly looked through the pile and slid the letter into the cupboard before anyone noticed it.
'Ms. H. Potter, The Cupboard underneath the stairs, 4 Privet Drive, Little Whining, Surrey.' Was seen written on it in dark green ink.
"Wait one second. You knew she was sleeping in a cupboard and didn't take her away from them?" Narcissa asked the teachers in confusion, as Lily and Euphemia opened their mouths to scold Dumbledore before he interrupted quickly.
"We do not write them at all, we use self-addressing quills." The headmaster said to everyone's disagreement, and the acknowledgement of McGonagall mumbled "something that needs to be changed."
It wasn't quite shocking that she had gotten the letter, so, she was able to scold her shock away from her face before she walked into the kitchen where her aunt was making breakfast. Giving the letters to her uncle, and her cousin was already at the table – all except her.
"Oh, Marge is ill. Ate a funny whelk." Vernon mumbled as he read through the mail.
Hadriana just looked around the room knowing that when they wanted her to do something they would tell her, and everything was like it always had been.
"Girl, why are you standing around to go back to your cupboard, or don't let me see you," Vernon ordered the girl.
Having her order, she could safely retreat to her room to read her letter, with no one of them the wiser.
"At least you got your mother's smarts." Remus told the people, to the indignation of James, "Hey!"
"It's true!" Young Sirius smiled clapping him on the shoulders agreeing with his friend, though, he was glad that his mother had been quiet so far into the memory show – he still could not believe that in the future he had a soul mate that was made for him, that will believe him and take him seriously.
Nothing else happened that day, Hadriana managed to read the letter quietly and quickly thrice before the night was upon them.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore
(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, international confed. of Wizards)
Dear Ms Potter,
We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on 1. of September. We await your owl by no later than 31st of July.
Yours sincerely,
Deputy Headmistress Minerva McGonagall.
Hadrian could not help but smile at the acceptance letter from a school of magic, it made everything the people inside of her mind said true, that her parents loved her, and that there actually was magic out there in the world.
Now she only had to find a way to send her acceptance to the school, and the small knowledge she had meant that there was still an owl perched outside.
Dear, Deputy Headmistress McGonagall.
I would love to be a part of the prestigious school, but my relatives won't let me go and I don't really know anything about the magical world. Do you think someone can help me find the things in the letter, where can we even find the things written on the parchment?
Sincerely, Hadriana Potter.
This should take care of it, so, the next day when she was tasked with watering the flowerbeds she discreetly handed the paper to the resident owl, and she hoped that someone soon would come and explain it to her.
