The first thing Zhang Ruiqiang did when he took over the position of Bing City's Mayor was to restructure Bing city's pharmaceutical factories. He wants to merge all the factories under the Bing City's Ministry of Health into a large corporation. He also wants to increase the products and also attract investors. This news created an uproar in the City.

Most of the companies that were restructured were making loss-making companies. Although some companies were not making losses, it was only a handful. These companies were usually consumer goods companies. None of these companies were related medical companies.

There were about 30 to 40 companies under the Ministry of Health, and some of these companies had been restructured before. They were not wholly owned by the government. It was too difficult to implement this plan.

The people do not understand why Zhang Ruiqiang wanted to merge all these companies together. The city government needs to spend a lot to implement this proposal. Many people suspect that Zhang Ruiqiang was doing this to earn political achievement. He wanted Bing City to have a sizeable Pharmaceutical Corporation the moment he became the mayor!

Zhang Ruiqiang had already proposed this when he was still the executive deputy mayor. But the Mayor at that time did not agree nor disagree. It was Bing City's Party Secretary that had opposed to this proposal. But now, the Secretary had left, and Zhang Ruiqiang had become the Mayor. He immediately proposes this matter again. What was he thinking?

The pharmaceutical industry can become Bing City's mainstay industry? What a joke! No one had ever heard of which city had treated this industry as their mainstay industry. If selling medicine were profitable, the public will be cursing!

Zhang Ruiqiang had already thought of this problem. He knew that there was a similar example overseas. A city with an MNC Pharmaceutical Corporation could change the city. Not only there will be an increase in tax revenue, but also it will create jobs. It will also promote the city. There were also lots of other benefits.

There were too many pharmaceutical factories in Bing City, and their scale was too small. Each was fighting its own battles. From Feng Yu's Tai Hua Trading, Zhang Ruiqiang saw the importance of branding. If in the future, all the medicine produced by Bing City Pharmaceutical Factories had the words 'Bing City Pharmaceutical Corporation' printed on the packaging, people would think that this Pharmaceutical corporation was a reliable company. This would increase their sales for other medications.

Other than some anti-inflammation medicines, the pharmaceutical factories in Bing City could not compete with other pharmaceutical factories. If it wasn't for the City providing support, some of these factories were already deeply in debt.

Those factories were doing well were making about 1 million RMB annually. Those that were not doing well were only breaking even. If these factories were not merged, then those factories that were not doing well will be obsolete soon. When that happens, the City Government will need to think of a way to save these factories and find employment for those workers. This would be a massive problem for the government.

These companies were valued at about 200 million RMB, but their annual profits were only approximately 100 million. Look at the Machinery Company. What was their company's value when it was restructured and what was their yearly profits? Needless to say, Feng Yu's Tai Hua Trading had only a start-up capital of 200,000 RMB. But the profits for their first year was more than 1 million! The taxes Tai Hua Trading paid last year was more than 10 million!

At first, Zhang Ruiqiang still has some hesitations. He was worried that after the merger, those factories that were doing well will be drag down by the rest of the factories. But since Feng Yu gave his promise, he believed that Feng Yu would be able to deliver what he said. This kid had a Midas touch. All his businesses were profitable. Even when his family rear pigs, the annual profits could let people's jaws dropped to the ground!

Feng Yu was indeed a genius when it comes to sales. But Zhang Ruiqiang was unsure if Feng Yu knew how to sell medicine. If Feng Yu was also good in this field, then Bing City Pharmaceutical Corporation will definitely be a success!

Zhang Ruiqiang was a capable person and had the most experience when it comes to company restructuring in Bing City. Most of the companies that had undergone restructuring were doing well. Of course, there were some that failed. But it was fine as the workers were also arranged to work in other companies. Overall, it was more good than harm.

Those that were capable were more decisive. Since Zhang Ruiqiang had already decided on this course of action, then it must be successful.

There might be some problems in this proposal in the first place. It was because mergers and restructuring require lots of funds. But now, with Feng Yu coming into the picture, Feng Yu could provide the funds. Also, Feng Yu had promised that he would not want the majority stake. All these critical issues were solved.

Others might not understand Feng Yu, but Zhang Ruiqiang was the only official that understands him the most. He believed in Feng Yu. Feng Yu was already a super tycoon, but he did not spend his money lavishly, other than donating all sorts of school buildings.

It was hard to find someone that behave this way after becoming wealthy. This was Feng Yu's plus point!

To let Feng Yu invest, Zhang Ruiqiang must first persuade the other leaders in the City.

……

"I had called for this meeting today is to discuss the possibility of merging all pharmaceutical factories under out Ministry of Health into a corporation. Today I had invited the representatives of our Ministry of Health, and Pharmaceutical Administration to this meeting. I have also invited Tai Hua Trading's Manager Wu Zhigang. I have already sent out the information to everybody. If you have any opinions, you can voice out now."

When the other leaders saw Wu Zhigang attending this meeting, they were shocked. This was a City Government meeting. As this concerns the related medical industry, it was okay for the representatives of our Ministry of Health, and Pharmaceutical Administration to attend this meeting. But what does this meeting got to do with Wu Zhigang? How can Tai Hua Trading Company even qualify to be present in this meeting?

Although Wu Zhigang was sitting at a corner, he was the center of attraction like Zhang Ruiqiang. All the leaders were looking at him, but he was not afraid.

Wu Zhigang remembered what Feng Yu had told him and had been using these words to encourage himself.

You are the deputy manager of Tai Hua Trading. Tai Hu Trading Company is the largest private company in Longjiang province. The annual taxes paid by the company are the salaries of these officials. You are a taxpayer, and they are the public servants. They should be serving us, and their salaries come from the taxes we paid. We are the ones that are giving them their bread and butter!

Furthermore, how did Bing City's industries develop so rapidly? Without Tai Hua Trading selling those advanced and cheap equipment from the Soviet Union to those factories, would it be possible?

Also, our Tai Hua Trading is not any pushover. Just treat those leaders with respect. But if they do not give you any respects, then you do not need to care about them. As long as it is not illegal, I will help you get back to those that bully you!

This was the reason why when Wu Zhigang felt like he was looking at those distributors when he saw those officials. He was not afraid of them. He even dares to stare back at those who stared at him.

It was all those government officials that backed down first. They knew that the Mayor was backing Tai Hua Trading. Wu Zhigang could attend this meeting must be invited by the Mayor. If they make things difficult for Wu Zhigang, that means they were going against the Mayor. Zhang Ruiqiang had just become the Mayor, and this was not the right time to go against him.

But this Wu Zhigang was too sickening. He was only a deputy manager of a private company and why does he have a sense of superiority in his eyes when he looks at us?

This meeting was very weird. No one wants to say anything first. Zhang Ruiqiang had no choice but to call out names. The first person was someone he arranged.

It was Bing City's new Deputy Mayor. He was also the lowest ranking Deputy Mayor. But his opinions outweigh most of the rest as last month, he was still the Provincial Mayor's personal secretary!

"I had just been transferred over to Bing City, but I am familiar with this city. Restructuring of state-owned enterprises has been happening all over the country now. Our Bing City is one of the forerunners in China, and the higher-ups were pleased with our restructuring results over the past few years. Who was the one that had led these restructuring? It is Mayor Zhang. Among all of us here, no one is more experienced than him when it comes to restructuring. I had read through the information carefully. I am not sure if the rest had noticed one thing. Most of the pharmaceutical factories are producing the same medicines. This means that we are competing among ourselves. Also, the resources and energy are too diversified, and this is not good if we were to compete with pharmaceutical companies from other provinces. If we can merge all these factories and companies into a corporation, we can pool our resources together and increases our competitiveness. This is the reason why I support Mayor Zhang's proposal!"

Those that wanted to object this proposal starts to hesitate. This was the Provincial number 1's secretary. Are his views in line with the Provincial number? If the Provincial number 1 supports this proposal and they object, they will be going against him. Will there still be promotions for them? Will they be transferred to the backend like Deputy Mayor Xu?

After that, the rest of the deputies started to express their views. They did not say that they support or reject this proposal. They also expressed their concerns. All of them felt that this merger was a good thing, but it could not be implemented. This should be put off for a later date.

When it was the Executive Deputy Mayor's turn to talk, he strongly objects to this proposal.

"There are 31 factories, which are not restructured, under our Pharmaceutical Administration office. If we add in those restructured factories, there will be 43 factories. How much effort is required if we were to merge all these companies into a corporation? If we are going on with this proposal, then this will be the city government main focus. Maybe one month is not sufficient even when all of us here focuses all our efforts on this merger! Furthermore, some individuals and foreign investors have shares in some of those factories. How will we go about implementing this merger?"

The Executive Deputy Mayor was pleased when he noticed everybody listening to him tentatively. He was groomed by the Provincial Number 2. He had very different views from Zhang Ruiqiang. He felt that it should be those loss-making factories that need to be restructured. Those that were doing well should carry on. If this proposal fails, then those factories that were doing well will also be affected. There were some precedents of this happening.

"Even if we were to merge all these factories and the restructuring process were proceeding smoothly, but what about the money? After the merger, we will have to pool the resources, and we have to let go of those toxic assets. Some people will have to let go, and some factories will have to be close down. The City must have the funds to take care of these issues. This will not be a small sum. It will be at least over 10 million. Based on the information given, we are still going to expand. This will also not be a small figure. If the City were to fund this, then what would happen to the other projects? Just building the urban construction needs a lot of funds. Where will the City Government get the money?"

"That's why I think this cannot be implemented. Those factories' leaders should think of a way to make their factories profitable themselves. They cannot depend on the government all the time. Since they are the ones in that position, then they have to take on the responsibility!"

After the Executive Deputy Mayor had finished talking, he drank his tea before turning to Zhang Ruiqiang. He wants to see how Zhang Ruiqiang answers his questions."

Zhang Ruiqiang nodded: "Deputy Mayor Li had finished. Ministry of Health representative, tell us your views."

The Representative from the Ministry of Health thought for a while and said: "We do not object to this proposal, but the Pharmaceutical Administration Office is the one overseeing this. We can only assist them."

This sentence was obviously shifting the responsibility to others. But others could not say anything. Those factories were indeed registered under the Pharmaceutical Administration office.

Chief Qian of the Pharmaceutical Administration Office saw Zhang Ruiqiang looking at him and start to express his thoughts: "I am very familiar with these factories. I have also studied pharmaceutical factories in other provinces. Many of those provinces had merged those small factories together, forming a more powerful company which could compete with the rest of the big players. If we want to step out of Longjiang province, then the merger will be our only option. As for those factories where there were other shareholders, we can negotiate with them. They can convert their shares to the new company's shares, or we can buy over their shares."

"Ridiculous! Where do you get the money from?" The Executive Deputy Mayor retorted.

"We can look for investors. The City Government does not need to come up with a single cent." Chief Qian replied. The Mayor had spoken to him before this meeting, and of course, he will choose to support the Mayor. The Mayor had promised him that after restructuring, he will be the Chairman of this new corporation!

"Get investors? Just like the Machinery Company? Giving the government assets to those businessmen?" The Executive Deputy Mayor sarcastically replied.

At this moment, everybody understands why Wu Zhigang was attending this meeting. The investor should be Tai Hua Trading!

Wu Zhigang suddenly said: "Deputy Mayor Li, I do not agree with what you said! What do you mean by giving the government assets to businessmen?"

"Isn't this the truth? The Machinery Company was invested by your company for development. But now, how many shares do the city have in that company? Who is holding on to the majority shares?"

"Deputy Mayor Li, I have a set of data here. I am representing my boss to show all of you these figures. Before the Machinery Company was restructured, its best annual profit was less than 6 million RMB. The taxes it paid was never more than 1 million RMB, and the Machinery Company was worth only about 30 million RMB. Now, the city owns 28% shares of the Machinery Company, and the value of these shares are worth more than 300 million RMB! Last year, the Machinery Company's profit was more than 100 million. Based on the shares, the city will get more than 30 million RMB of the profits. Also, the taxes paid by the Machinery Company was more than 17 million. Do you still have doubts about whether the city had gain or loss from this?" Wu Zhigang replied.

This was also what Feng Yu taught him over the phone. This was called speaking with facts!

By disclosing all these figures was to prevent these people from thinking that Feng Yu had taken advantage of the City. If it weren't for Feng Yu, even when the Machinery Company was growing, at most, the Machinery Company would only be valued at 50 million RMB. How much will be the profits and how much tax will this company pay? Most likely, the Machinery Company would be making losses.

Although the city does not hold the majority of the shares, the city was making more than the previous few years. This was also the reason why the higher-ups felt that this restructuring was a success.

"That is the Machinery Company. Pharmaceutical companies are not the same. Can you guarantee that after restructuring, this corporation will make so many profits?" Deputy Mayor Li argued.

Wu Zhigang looked at everybody and loudly said: "Our boss had said, he can do it!"

The statement said by Wu Zhigang had silenced the room. Everybody was staring at Wu Zhigang, but he does not back down.

"Hmph! That's what you claimed. What if you are unable to fulfill your promise?" Deputy Mayor Li sneered.

"As long as all of you do not interfere with the operations, then it will surely be possible. One year later, Bing City Pharmaceutical Corporation's profits will reach 100 million RMB! If we do not achieve it, then Tai Hua Trading will donate 10 million RMB to the city!" Wu Zhigang proudly said.

The rest of the leaders were shocked. Where did Tai Hua Trading get this confidence from? These companies' profits were less than 10 million now. After merging these companies, the profits can reach 100 million RMB? Was this a joke?

But this statement also reflected the wealth of Tai Hua Trading. Last year, Tai Hua Trading had promised to donate 10 school buildings to the city which will be completed in this Summer. They had helped with the City's lack of funds and also demolished some old and dangerous buildings.

The rest of the leaders felt that this was a good deal. Win or lose, the city will still gain. If the city wins, Tai Hua Trading will donate a sum of money. If the city fails, that means after the merger, the pharmaceutical corporation could really bring in lots of profits to the City.

Zhang Ruiqiang was also surprised. Wu Zhigang dares to make such bold statement, must be the instructions from Feng Yu. But Feng Yu had not told him about this. This was a good thing, and he had no reason to reject.

"Does everyone still have other opinions now?" Zhang Ruiqiang looked at everyone at the meeting, and he stopped his gaze at Deputy Mayor Li. One could never find such attractive deal elsewhere in China. If you are still going to oppose, then there must be a problem with your attitude. Don't blame me for punishing you!

"Are we going to set up a team for this merger? I want to be part of this team." Deputy Mayor Li firmly said.

If I discover that something was going on between you and Tai Hua Trading, that will be your last day as the Mayor!

"I will be the leader of this team. Deputy Mayor Li will be the vice leader. Deputy Mayor Liu, you will be the third in charge. The rest of you shall be the team members. The first thing we should do now is to calculate the total value of these companies. As we are going to have investors, I had hired valuation experts from the Province to evaluate the assets. The valuation report should be out within a week. Today's meeting shall end here. Dismiss!"

Wu Zhigang returned to the company and paged Feng Yu. After a while, Feng Yu returned call, and Wu Zhigang reported what happened at the meeting to Feng Yu. Everything had gone according to as planned and when Wu Zhigang used the killer move 'donation' no one else objected to this.

Many people were skeptical about Tai Hua Trading's claim of increasing the profits to 100 million RMB! but Wu Zhigang had never doubt about this. Manager Feng had never made any losses in all his businesses. Manager Feng's estimation of the market was always conservative and had never exaggerated the figures.

Manager Feng had said that one year later, the Pharmaceutical Factory's profits will reach 100 million RMB and he believed that it will surely come true!

The valuation process was swift. In 5 days, it was completed. The 43 companies had a total of 287,640,000 RMB. Some other assets belong to individuals and some other companies. It amounted to 11,270,000 RMB.

Feng Yu applied for leave from his university and returned back to Bing City. Fu Guangzheng had also brought along his team to Bing City. They were more professional than Feng Yu when it comes to the valuation of assets.

Feng Yu felt that he should also form an investment team. He cannot always ask others for help or do everything by himself.

Seems like it was time he must recruit some fresh graduates who were also investment experts from Huaqing University!

Fu Guangzheng's team were very professional and used several methods to validate the valuation report. Feng Yu was very pleased with their results. There were no problems with the valuation report. Although some of the buildings were valued higher, those were old buildings with historical values. It was not easy to evaluate the value of these buildings. But overall, this report can be used.

Zhang Ruiqiang did not ask his men to play tricks in the report? Feng Yu was not used to this. Did Zhang Ruiqiang change?

The total assets were less than 300 million, and if Feng Yu wanted 49% of the shares, he would need to pay at least 145 million RMB. Fu Guangzheng does not want to invest in this pharmaceutical corporation. He was only here to help Feng Yu.

Fu Guangzheng had asked Feng Yu if he had gotten some unique formulas. But when Feng Yu told him about his formulas, Fu Guangzheng was disappointed. These formulas could fill the gaps in China's pharmaceutical industry?

You want to earn money with these formulas? If Feng Yu had the formulas of medicines which could cure some rare illness, Fu Guangzheng would surely want to invest. But he was not interested in these health supplements.

Fu Guangzheng was very busy. Feng Yu had most of the work to him. Basically, it was Fu Guangzheng and his team that was managing the business. Just those branch factories were enough to keep him busy. But Fu Guangzheng was still happy with this arrangement. He had lots of authority, and this showed that Feng Yu trusted him a lot. Of course, this was also because the finance department heads were all Feng Yu's men.

Feng Yu was laughing in his heart when he knows that Fu Guangzheng does not want to invest. Fu Guangzheng would not get a share of the hefty profits.

Feng Yu had asked Fu Guangzheng's men to help him appraise his medical formulas. He wants to know how much it was worth. The formulas could be used as his capital. He had spent a lot of money to get the professors from Beijing University to develop.

Fu Guangzheng's men looked at Feng Yu and then at Fu Guangzheng awkwardly.

"Just tell us what you wanted to say. We are here to assist Manager Feng." Fu Guangzheng looked down at his teacup.

"Manager Feng, we are sorry to say that these few medical formulas are complicated to appraise. These are not for treatments. That's why the value of each formula…… Why not we write a valuation report that states each formula is worth 100,000 RMB?"

Damn. What did you say? I had spent a few hundred thousand to over 1 million RMB for these formulas. Those professors' research fees were sky high, and their minimum requests were in millions!

I had spent almost 10 million RMB on these formulas, and you are telling that these are not even worth 1 million in total? From your faces, all of you seem to be taking a huge risk to give a 'high' valuation for these formulas!

These were all precious formulas! A bunch of ignorant people! No wonder Fu Guangzheng does not want to invest. They thought that these formulas were worthless!

"All of you think that these formulas are worthless? Let me tell all of you, you are wrong. Write in the report that each of these formulas is worth 1 million, USD!"

All of them looked at Feng Yu in shocked. Are you crazy? You want us to state that these formulas are worth 1 million USD each? Could it be that Feng Yu had some under table deals with Bing City's leaders?

There were only 5 medical formulas, and Feng Yu wanted these formulas to be worth 5 million USD. Based on the exchange rates 1: 5.5, each formula was worth about 5.5 million RMB! But Fu Guangzheng and his men felt that these were not worth more than 500,000 RMB!

Fu Guangzheng saw Feng Yu was very serious and he asked his men: "Will there be any problems?"

"If the other party harped on this, Manager Feng might face some problems. We will not have any problems." They were all employees of the Fu family, and they do not do valuation reports for other companies. Furthermore, this was Bing City, and it will not affect their reputations in Hong Kong.

"I am not afraid of those problems, and the amount I stated is absolutely reasonable!"

Although these research funds for these formulas were less than 1 million, Feng Yu had donated additional funds for those professors' other researches. Those were also his money. Of course, he must find ways to recoup them.

When the Pharmaceutical Administration Office restructuring team saw the valuation report of Feng Yu's medical formulas, they thought it was for some sort of rare conditions. If not, why was it so expensive? But when they say the effects of those formulas, they realized that these were all health supplement products.

What health products formulas were these? Why were they so expensive? These were only calcium, zinc, blood and vitamins supplements. How can these be worth 1 million USD?

"I have never heard of a medical formula that cost 1 million USD! Do you know how much is 1 million USD? Do you know how many things can be done with 1 million USD?" Deputy Mayor Li furiously shouted.

Feng Yu looked at Deputy Mayor Li: "Is 1 million USD a lot? The school buildings I donated to the City last year are worth more than 2 million USD! If 1 million USD are all in 100 notes and stack together, then it should be this high."

Feng Yu showed the height with his hands while talking. Deputy Mayor Li almost died from anger. He realized that the money Feng Yu has seen before should be more than what he had seen in his lifetime! Just Feng Yu's shares in the Machinery Company was worth a more than a billion!

Deputy Mayor Li was a high ranking official and when was the last time someone looks at him with despise? He was very unhappy with Feng Yu, especially with Feng Yu's age. But he just could not find any words to retort.

"Even if you think that 1 million USD is not a lot, but that does not mean that these formulas are worth 1 million USD each. Furthermore, how can these formulas be considered medicine formulas? These are all health supplements formulas."

Feng Yu looked at Deputy Mayor Li and smiled: "Deputy Mayor Li, have you heard of Lehaha oral solution?"

"I have heard of it. So what?" Deputy Mayor Li frowned. He does not know why Feng Yu had asked him about Lehaha.

"Many people want to buy the formula for Lehaha Oral Solution. The least these people offered was 5 million USD. The highest offer is 10 million USD! What do you think of this? Oh, I forgot to mention that I am also the major shareholder of Lehaha."

What? This Feng Yu was also Lehaha major shareholder? Lehaha's advertising was very aggressive. Even the kids know about their slogan. This company should be very profitable. But isn't Lehaha a Hangzhou company? How did Feng Yu become Lehaha's major shareholder?

"That is for children. It is different!" Deputy Mayor Li tried to argue.

"Then what should Lehaha's product be categorized as? Medicine? Drinks? Or health supplements?"

"This…… it should be considered as health products. Lehaha's formula is so valuable is because it is a popular product. how much is the formula worth before Lehaha became popular?"

"Then Deputy Mayor Li, how do you know that my products will not be popular?" Feng Yu asked.

Deputy Mayor Li was speechless from Feng Yu's questions. Zhang Ruiqiang stepped in and asked: "Then why do you think that your products will become popular?"

Feng Yu pointed to himself: "Because these are my products!"

Everyone was stunned by Feng Yu's crazy confidence. What does this mean? Because these are your products and it will surely be popular? But when all of them thought about this, it seems to be true. As long as it the product was from Feng Yu, every single one of them was selling like hotcakes all over China. At first, it was the plastic fans, followed by the humidifiers, bladeless fans, Songjiang motorcycles. Every product was well known throughout China. Feng Yu was also the major shareholder of the popular Lehaha Children oral solution.

It should be whatever Feng Yu sells, it will be the best-selling products in China. No one could argue about this!

"Feng Yu, we cannot trust you just because of this sentence." Zhang Ruiqiang frowned.

Feng Yu nodded: "What Mayor Zhang said made sense. I know everyone here is curious why I said that after the pharmaceutical companies merged, I can increase the profits to 100 million in one year. It is because of these products! How much can the current bestselling penicillin jabs produced by these pharmaceutical factories make? A few cents each? How much is the cost and how much can the profits be? The cost for my products are higher than penicillin, but I can sell it for more than 10 times the retail price of penicillin jabs! These are still not prescription medicines. Can you even imagine about the profits?"

"Ridiculous! More than 10 times the retail price? Then the retail price for these will be more tens of RMB? Who would spend so much for these things?" Deputy Mayor Li said.

Feng Yu looked at Deputy Mayor Li curiously: "Deputy Mayor Li, the Exclusive Cigarettes in front of you should be expansive, right? Also, the retail price of that thermal mug you are using should be more than 10 RMB. There are cheaper cigarettes and cheaper mug in the market. Why are you not using them?"

"What do you mean?!" Deputy Mayor Li banged on the table and barked. Feng Yu was implying that I received bribes? I use luxury goods? These cigarettes and mugs were issued to all deputy mayors. I am not the only one using these!

"What I meant was that if it is a good product, there will surely be consumers that are willing to buy it, regardless of the price. These products are health medication products. In the olden days, it is called tonics. The impression tonics gave to everyone is that it is pricey. Now, our country is developing rapidly, and everybody's lives are getting better. Don't you think that people will want to buy some tonics for their families and loved ones? Just like everyone present here. All of you have made so many contributions to Bing City, these are what all of you deserved."

Deputy Mayor Li felt better when he heard what Feng Yu said.

Feng Yu continued: "This is just like Apollo Oral Solution and Sanzhu Oral Solution. Even without taking these health supplements, we will still be living normally. I think I do not need to explain how well these products are selling. I believe that everyone here will know someone that is taking these types of supplements."

Deputy Mayor Li lowered his head. He was also drinking Apollo Oral Solution!

"I guaranteed that these 5 products will be popular throughout China and will even be exported! If I am unable to fulfill what I said, I will shift Lehaha to Bing City! That's why these formulas are worth 1 million USD each. If it is so easy to develop these health supplements, why none of the Pharmaceutical factories in Bing City developed it?"

Shift Lehaha to Bing City? All the leaders were excited. If Lehaha was a company in Bing City, then the taxes received by the government will be a considerable amount. His would be a great achievement!

Zhang Ruiqiang suddenly said: "Feng Yu, 5 million RMB for each formula. That will be a total of 25 million RMB. If you agree, then it will be settled."

Feng Yu replied with a painful expression: "Sigh…… I will just accept these losses. Who asked me to be from Bing City. Fine. I will go along with what you had just said. All the 5 formulas will be worth 35 million RMB!"

Actually, Feng Yu was jumping with joy in his heart……

After the value of the formulas was settled, the rest of the negotiations went smoothly. Feng Yu used 13 million RMB to purchase all the non-government assets. Based on the actual figures, it should be 11.27 million RMB. But since Feng Yu had already benefited from the formulas, he was willing to pay more for this. He only wanted things to speed up a little.

Feng Yu and the City decided that these 43 companies will be merged into a corporation with some subsidiaries.

Some of those companies which were heavily in debts were merged into one company and applied for bankruptcy.

The city had objected to this. They felt that Feng Yu had let those workers who had contributed to the factories down. The workers will lose their jobs. This was a severe mistake. It must not be implemented.

Feng Yu explained that he was not going to retrench all those workers. This company might be closed down, but those workers will be transferred to other factories. Of course, those leaders will have to return to the Pharmaceutical Administration Office. It will be up to the office on where they want to deploy them next. But these people cannot be sent to Bing City Pharmaceutical Corporation. There cannot be more than one person for every position!

When Feng Yu was at the Machinery Company, he did the same thing. He wanted the workers but does not want those leaders! Especially those that were from the Party. To Feng Yu, these people were useless compared to those workers. Yet they were still receiving high salaries and benefits.

Just their salaries and benefits were not a small amount. Although Feng Yu could easily afford these people, he was not happy to do so. They do not have any capabilities, and they got this position was because they were from the Party. Why should Feng Yu pay them so high? You said that you had made many contributions? Fine. List them down on paper.

You said you had groomed many Party members? But what else have you done as a leader in the Party? Have you ever done anything to help the company? You have not done anything and only know how to recruit more party members for membership fees. Why should I still employ you?

Those activities you organized can also be arranged by the union. The Union can still coordinate better activities than you. With the workers Union around and the merger of the companies, there were lesser positions for the higher management. Many of these people have to be let go. Only those that have the capabilities will get to keep their jobs.

"Manager Feng, after the merger, there were lesser positions available. The City could make arrangements for some of these people. But you cannot just remove over 300 people at once. There was a total of 43 companies, and you removed 8 higher management staffs from each company. These people will be jobless, and the City cannot make arrangements for all of them!" Deputy Mayor Li snarled.

"The City cannot make arrangements for them, but there are no more vacancies for them in the company. After the merger, there are a total of 12 companies including the head company and the subsidiaries. You tell me, how do I arrange the positions for them? Just dump 30 useless staffs in each company? Or should I set up a company just to let them have a job? Do you think that those companies that were not doing in the past have nothing to do with these people? I am investing so much money, and if I still have to take care of these people, then my yearly expenses will increase by over 1 million."

"How come it is so much? Their average salaries are less than 2,000 a year."

"Yes. If you only consider their salaries. But what about their benefits? Do you know what did they say when we are restructuring the companies? They said that with their ranks, they deserved to enjoy these benefits. These people who only know how to enjoy lives, and if I still let them stay in the company, what's the use of restructuring the company? Why did restructuring fail for Bing City's Ceramics Factory, Thermal flask factory, leather shoe factories, etc.? It was because it was still old wine in new bottle. Those people were still the ones that managed the companies. These companies had wasted more than 1 million of the city's funds. Although 1 million RMB to me is nothing, I am investing 100 million. I must be cautious."

Everybody knew about the examples give n by Feng Yu. Those factories were the few that failed after restructuring. They thought about it, and it was really like what Feng Yu had said. There were no changes to the higher management after the restructuring.

Feng Yu was thinking in his heart. It was the market economy, and these people's thinking was still stuck in the planned economy era. They were still waiting for the higher-ups to give them tasks. Without any work assigned, they do not know what to produce. Even when they were able to create something, they also do know how to sell them. They do not even know what products were popular in the market and doesn't even understand the importance of packaging. How could these factories not fail?

But Feng Yu would never tell anyone about his thoughts. He was also not willing to let those people go. Actually, those people still have their uses. Their most significant advantage was that they knew how to hoodwink others!

In Feng Yu's previous life, how did Apollo Oral Solution become popular? Because of advertisements? Was the product really that good? None of these reasons. They were popular was because they used the direct sales model.

Apollo in Feng Yu's previous life had more tens of thousands of sales personnel. Their target was every county there should be 100 sales personnel. In China, there were more than a thousand counties. There were also the cities' districts. With everything add up, there were more than 2000.

Although they did not achieve the 100 sales personnel in every county, other than those minorities regions, every county have their sales personnel! It can be said that at that time, there was more Apollo's sales personnel than postmen!

Feng Yu also decided to use the same sales model for Bing City's Pharmaceutical Corporation's health products. For direct sales model, the most important thing was for those sales personnel to believe in their products, and they would be able to earn lots of money from selling these products.

Brainwashing was those officials' fundamental skills. Most of them were doing this for all their lives. They had to let make the workers work hard and contribute to the company and also at the same time, make them accept the harsh working environment. They will just sit back and enjoy life!

This group of people will be the sales managers of the different cities. Their performances will be based on their sales results. Those with poor results will be asked to leave, while those with good results will be rewarded by Feng Yu!

But now, it was not the time for Feng Yu to tell the city his plans. The city must think that Feng Yu compromised with them before he could negotiate with the city.

"Manager Feng, the city is unable to arrange for these people. After these companies were merged, the Pharmaceutical Administration do not have so many positions for them. The city has no ways to help these 300 people."

"Fine. I will give them a chance. But this is the last time I am compromising. I am a businessman, and the reason for investing is to make money. I am not a philanthropist!"

Feng Yu had agreed to give these people a chance. He will let these people in charge of selling health supplements. Not willing to do sales? You want to sit around and do nothing? Then don't come to Bing City Pharmaceutical Corporation!

The City also agreed. They were thinking, at least this would solve the employment issue of these people. If these people were not suitable to do sales, then the city would also have an excuse. Look, I had arranged a job for you. You are the one that was not up to the task.

The city knew that there were too many people in the enterprises and they need to learn from the enterprises overseas. Retrenchment! But they were the government, and they need to take care of their people. This was the reason why they could not act like those private companies.

Now, it was the same throughout China. This would last until the iron fist president comes into power. He would force those enterprises to change. Those enterprises that were supposed to be bankrupt were shut down. He would stop these enterprises from sucking the City dry. He would give those retrenched workers a sum of money and let them look for jobs themselves or reassign them. This was better than letting them sit at home without any salaries.

The conditions were all finalized. Feng Yu does not have any problems with most of the conditions. He only wanted the position of vice chairman for himself. Of course, he also wanted a veto vote. Also, he also assigned his man to be the factory director of Sixth Pharmaceutical Factory. This factory would be in-charge of producing his health products. Wu Zhigang has a new title now. He was not also the factory director of this factory.

Feng Yu also transferred a few financial staffs from the Machinery Company to this corporation and reassigned the financial staffs from the Pharmaceutical to the Machinery Company. This was because the staffs were not familiar with the leaders and would prevent them from being in cahoots with each other.

Now, most of Tai Hua Trading's recruitment was for financial staffs. Those new recruits will be getting high salaries after their 3 months probations. There were very few openings for other positions. Even the positions for translators were few. This was because Translator Xue had entered Tai Hua Trading and his salaries were higher than before. A few of his former colleagues in the Foreign Affairs department started to moonlight at Tai Hua Trading.

This was advantageous for Tai Hua Trading. These translators were much cheaper than those University's professors, and they specialized in translating business documents.

After the conditions were finalized, it comes down to the last part. This was the hardest part of the negotiation. Feng Yu wants this company to be registered with a capital of 400 million RMB. This way, they would have enough funds to purchase some equipment. They could also buy some medical formulas from overseas.

But the City does not agree. They felt that 300 million would be sufficient. This way, the city could take away 100 million RMB after Feng Yu invested his money into the company.

If this corporation were registered with the start-up capital of 400 million, the City would not be able to profit so much from this deal. They could only get 60 million. This was not in-line with what they had planned. Although this was still in negotiations, the City had already planned what they were going to do with the money!

When Feng Yu learned how the city was going to spend the money, he was shocked! He had finally seen how the government spent money.

Damn, we had not even finalized all the conditions, you had already finish spending the money?

But even if they were not going to buy medicine formulas from overseas, they should at least get the equipment for RD. Although these factories do have research facilities, they were using the inefficient and old equipment. These should all be replaced!

But the City had already planned how to spend the money, and this let Feng Yu have more rooms to negotiate.

"The registered capital should be at least 360 million. The City can still take out 100 million from the funds. Other than the money used to reassigned those retrenched workers, the city still has a lot of money left. This sum of money can be used for another purpose. If the City does not agree, then forget it. I will cooperate with smaller pharmaceutical factories in other cities. I can even be the major shareholder there!"

Feng Yu leaned back on the sofa and crossed his legs. He was shaking his legs with an irritating expression!

Deputy Mayor Li became nervous. We had finalized almost all the details, and we had given in to your requests on the merger. Now you are telling me that you want to stop this cooperation?

"Feng Yu, what is the meaning of this?! You think this is a joke? You think you can stop this cooperation as and when you like?" Deputy Mayor Li shouted.

"What's wrong? You are Bing City's, Deputy Mayor. Don't tell me that you are going to beat me up? If we are about to see eye to eye on the conditions, then we will cooperate. If not, this deal is off. Don't you understand such simple things?"

Feng Yu's attitude was very arrogant. Who does this Deputy Mayor Li think he was? It's okay if he thinks highly of himself and talks down on others. But he does not even know how to speak nicely to others and keeps shouting.

You think I am your subordinate? You think you can bang tables and stare at me? Even Old Zhang must speak nicely to me. Last year, when the Deputy Provincial Mayor wanted to meet me, I also dare to reject him. Who do you think you are?

If this were a few years earlier, maybe I would still give in. After all, I do not have so much money at that time. I was also afraid of you using some political means to deal with me. But now, you can try. We shall see who would go down first!

Zhang Ruiqiang signaled to Deputy Mayor Li and turned to Feng Yu: "Feng Yu, the City has important uses for this sum of money. We need to repair the roads and improve the City's traffic conditions. This would involve relocations of the affected residents. This is not a small amount."

"Mayor Zhang, you want me to create China's top pharmaceutical corporation within a year, with only a factory and old equipment? You think I am a god? The production and research facilities must be replaced. How much can those old production lines produce in a month? The capacity is not enough!"

"Not enough? This is not possible. The whole Sixth Pharmaceutical Factory will be manufacturing those 5 types of health supplements. The factory's production now is doubled compared to before the merger. This is still not enough?" Zhang Ruiqiang was very curious. Those 5 products were medicines, and the permits they applied were also medical products permits.

"It is not enough. Just the current production lines for oral solution are only sufficient for Zinc gluconate oral solution. I am still thinking of a manufacturing Calcium gluconate oral solution and Oral solution for red blood cells. As for the tablets, other than Calcium tablets and multivitamins, I will still be producing Zinc gluconate and Calcium gluconate tablets in the future. The current production will not be able to keep up."

"What if all these products are not sold?" Deputy Mayor Li interrupted.

"Even if that really happens, I, Tai Hua Trading will buy all those unsold products!" Feng Yu looked at Deputy Mayor Li. What else do you have to say?

Once again, Deputy Mayor Li was speechless. He was really pissed off! This Feng Yu was too arrogant!

In the end, the City accepted Feng Yu's proposal. The registered capital was 360 million RMB, and the City will own 51% of the shares. Feng Yu would own 49% of the shares. The Sixth Pharmaceutical Factory would be entirely under Feng Yu's control. The City will not interfere. Also, the Sixth Pharmaceutical Factory will be using the most advanced equipment.

Feng Yu was the second largest shareholder of this Pharmaceutical Corporation. However, not a lot of people knows about this. The Government will not announce such news to the public. Even those factories' workers do not know about this. They only know that there was a change in their leaders. Most of them do not even know who Feng Yu was.

Everything was finalized, and Feng Yu asked Wu Zhigang to inform the Sixth Pharmaceutical Factory to start producing Zinc gluconate, Calcium gluconate and Blood enrichment oral solution with the existing equipment. He also ordered the production of the calcium and multivitamin tablets.

Feng Yu does not care whether there were permits. Anyway, he was not selling these products now. When the approval was granted, then he would print it on the packaging. His goal now was to stock up his products!

After settling all the work in Bing City, Feng Yu returned to Beijing for his lessons. He had not informed his parents when he returned to Bing City. If his parents knew that he had skipped school, they would have rushed to Bing City and drag Feng Yu by his collars back to Beijing.

When Tian Lei saw Feng Yu at the hostel, he said with a serious expression: "Lao Si, you are finally back. The college counselor had looked for you several times. He said that if you are not back, he will not let you graduate! I had paged you several times. Why did you not return calls?"

"I was too busy, and I forgot. Don't worry. I will surely graduate. Oh, what lessons are we having this afternoon?"

"Eh, Lao Si, what's wrong with you? It's the weekend today. We do not have lessons!"

"Today is the weekend? Ah…… I got something important! I need to go to Teaching University now." Feng Yu suddenly remembered that he had promised Li Na that he would visit her this weekend.

"Eh, eh, eh. Wait for me. Are you driving? Give me a lift."

After the last gathering, Tian Lei and Li Na's roommate got together. The rest of the guys were not making any progress. Seems like they do not have any chances. Tian Leo was from Beijing, and he was familiar with the city. He was also willing to spend time and attention to the girl. He was unlike the rest, where they do not even bother to give the girls calls. They do not even dare to ask the girls out for dates.

The rest of the guys only likes to go to Feng Yu's apartment and watch videotapes. Their favorite movies were those "action movies"! These students were also human, and they were in their puberty stage. But it was a pity that Feng Yu does not have lots of these videotapes. They had watched the same few videotapes several times.

Feng Yu really despise them. They were brilliant, and many people admired them. But they do not know how to make use of this advantage. What's the purpose of watching these videotapes. Doing it real life was more fun!

They should learn from Tian Lei. Feng Yu estimated that by next semester Tian Lei would have scored a home run with that girl!

At Beijing Teaching University, Feng Yu called Li Na to inform her that he had reached. He also asked Li Na to call her roommate down for Tian Lei.

Li Na ran into Feng Yu's arms when she saw him. Feng Yu wanted to hug her and give her a kiss, but Li Na pushed him away. They were still in the campus!

Tian Lei and his target walked towards the library holding hands. Tian Lei said that he will be teaching his girl maths. Feng Yu was surprised by this excuse!

But Tian Lei had brought his Maths books along with him. Could it be that he was really teaching that girl maths?

"Tian Lei is really a nice person. He often comes over and helps Qingqing with her studies."

"Hee, that is because Qingqing is not so smart. If she is as hardworking as you, would she still need help with her studies? Furthermore, if she has any problems with her studies, she can always ask the teachers."

Li Na rolled her eyes at Feng Yu and slowly said: "You really think that Qingqing is not good with her maths? Last semester, she scored first in maths among our cohort."

Oh damn. Qingqing was really scheming. Tian Lei should be under her thumbs in future.

Feng Yu held Li Na's hand and strolled around the campus. The university was not like high schools, where they forbid their students dating. Many couples were strolling around like them.

But it was still not as open as the future years. The couples were only holding hands. They do not dare to kiss openly or do something exciting in corners. Or it might be that Feng Yu had not encountered any such incidents. Hmmm…. Maybe it was also because it was too cold.

This sort of incidents should be normal. Even in the olden days, young ladies would secretly meet poor scholars in the woods and returned home pregnant.

Feng Yu had also thought of doing these "exciting stuff" with Li Na in the campus. But he knew that Li Na would not go along with him. He was also worried that if they were caught, they would be expelled from the school.

Although he was not afraid of being expelled from the school, he was scared of the embarrassment.

Feng Yu had the knowledge from his previous life, and he was able to make use of his knowledge to make money from his business. But he was always tired after the negotiations.

In the previous life, he was a Financial broker and had never managed a company. Now, the businesses he was involved were all things he had not touched before. It was too tiring to negotiate with others. He was not physically tired. It was mentally drained.

He had thought before. Should he listen to his father? Having enough money is sufficient. But when he thought about those foreign companies coming into China and earning all their money, destroying the environment, stealing their technologies, etc. he knew he could not stop.

Since the gods had given him a chance to do everything all over again, then he should do something for his country, like helping China's automobile industry, electronics industry, medical industry, etc. In his previous life, the health products in China were mostly foreign brands. In this life, Feng Yu wants to export China's products to other countries. These dreams were his motivations.

As Feng Yu's businesses expand, he became more and busier. He could only forget about his work when he was with Li Na. He was satisfied even when he was strolling with Li Na around her campus.

They both walked to a small pavilion, sat down and admire the scenery.

Li Na would always help Feng Yu tidy up his shirt and told him about the small things that happened around her. One of her classmates drooled while sleeping in class, another classmate snored, or another classmate bought a new beautiful pen. These were all unimportant stuff, but Feng Yu enjoyed listening to Li Na.

A breeze messed up Li Na's hair, and Feng Yu softly helped her tidy up. Li Na had a sweet smile on her face.

Beijing's weather was warmer than Bing City. Bing City was already freezing, but in Beijing, the temperature was still above 0 degrees Celsius.

There was still no smog in Beijing at this time. The skies were still blue, and one could still feel the warm sunlight. Unknowingly, Feng Yu fell asleep with his head on Li Na's lap.

Li Na massaged Feng Yu's temples softly, smiling blissfully.

When Feng Yu woke up, it was one hour later. Li Na's legs were numb, and Feng Yu immediately bend over in front of her: "I am the one which causes your legs to be numb. Let me carry you on my back."

Li Na looked around and saw that no one was looking at them. She jumped onto Feng Yu's back and wrapped her hands around his neck, pressing her body into his back. She rested her chin on Feng Yu's shoulders. Feng Yu could feel her hot breath on his neck and ears.

Maybe Li Na was feeling mischievous. She used her long hair to tickle Feng Yu's ears. She giggled when she saw Feng Yu feeling ticklish and fidgeting about.

Feng Yu gave Li Na's ass a tight squeeze with the hand that was supporting her. Li Na stopped tickling him immediately and gave a playful punch on his arms: "Disgusting……"

Feng Yu smiled: "Disgusting? Are you complimenting me? I am disgustingly in love with you?"

Li Na: "……"

How can he interpret it this way?

This afternoon, Feng Yu came to CCTV again. He was here so frequent until the guards knew him. As usual, Feng Yu gave the guards a packet of cigarettes and drove in. He does not need any permit to enter the premises.

"Is Chief Cheng in?" Feng Yu went to the advertising department. Last year, he was only a division chief.

A bespectacled young man stood up: "You are looking for Chief Cheng? Do you have an appointment?

Damn, this Cheng Baojun was now a big shot? Advance appointments must be made before I can meet him? But who was this person? How come I had not seen him in the past? Cheng Baojun's rank should not be assigned to a secretary.

"Are you new here? Help me go in and tell him that Feng Yu is here." Feng Yu sat down on one of the work stations like his own office.

The young man was surprised. Who was this person? The department was having a meeting today, and he was newly transferred over. So, he was made to look after the office.

"Chief Cheng is in a meeting now. The rest is not here. Do you want to come back tomorrow?"

Feng Yu looked at his watch. It was only 2 pm in the afternoon. There were still a few more hours before the end of the day. Does the meeting last so long?

"I will wait here for him. I think his meeting will end soon. Do you have anything to drink?"

"Yes. I will make tea for you."

The young man saw Feng Yu's attitude and thought that he was some leader's son. He could not afford to offend these types of people. It was not easy for him to be transferred to this unit. He had to make sure that he would not be fired because of small matters.

When Cheng Baojun came back from the meeting, he saw Feng Yu sitting on the sofa in the office with his legs crossed. Feng Yu was slowly sipping on his tea and eating melon seeds.

Cheng Baojun was speechless. This was an office and how could anyone eat melon seeds here? He stared at the newcomer. Why didn't you stop him?

The young man saw the look on his leader's face and got nervous. He also did not expect Feng Yu to take out a packet of melon seeds from his pocket and start eating. Feng Yu even asked him if he wants some. From Feng Yu's attitude, he did not dare to stop him.

"Chief Cheng, your meeting is too long." Feng Yu looked at his watch. It was already 4 pm. He knew that the meeting must be filled with bullshit and every sentence must be started with "I think this…. I think that……" and a simple thing will turn into a profound discussion. Feng Yu was someone that prefers to keep everything short and straight to the point. He wants efficiency.

Cheng Baojun looked at Feng Yu speechless. Our department's meeting was to talk about the problems they faced in their work. What has the length of our meeting got to do with you?

"Manager Feng, why are you here?"

"Oh, I heard that CCTV will be airing a few new programs and there are many new advertising slots."

Cheng Baojun's eyes widen: "Manager Feng, you want to buy advertisement slots?"

"Yes. Tell me about the advertisement slots you have now. If I am happy, I will buy multiple slots." Feng Yu rolled his eyes. Was this something new? If I am not buying advertising slots, why am I here for? Chat with you?

"Manager Feng, come into my office. Xiao Wang, prepare the tea. Old Li, bring the price list for the available advertising slots over."

Feng Yu took the melon seeds on the table in his hands and slowly make his way into Cheng Baojun's office. The newcomer was shocked!

The seniors in the office told the young man that this was Tai Hua Trading's, Manager Feng. He was CCTV biggest client for the past two years. He had never bargain over the advertising prices! The advertising fees at CCTV now took a reference to Manager Feng's spending on advertisements. Manager Feng was also close to the Station's top leaders. He was the sponsor for the New Year Eve's Gala dinner.

Feng Yu entered Cheng Baojun's office and noticed that Cheng Baojun was looking at his hand.

"Chief Cheng, you want some melon seeds?" Feng Yu offered the melon seeds in his hand to him.

Cheng Baojun's face turned black: "No! This is an office!" I want you to keep those seeds. Who the hell wants your melon seeds?!

Feng Yu reluctantly keep the melon seeds into his pocket. Stopping in the midst of eating melon seeds was torture. It was hard to stop eating melon seeds once you started.

Old Li brought a list into the room for Cheng Baojun, and Cheng Baojun passed the list to Feng Yu after taking a look: "Manager Feng, these are all the available slots. See if you like any of the slots. Why not you buy out all these slots? There are only 8 slots."

Feng Yu took a look. Because there was a change in the programs, the timings and length of some programs were changed. As such, there were available slots. The longest was 1 minute, and the shortest was 15 seconds. There were 2 slots in the early afternoon, 4 in the afternoon and 2 in the evenings.

The timing of these slots was not that bad. These could be used to promote the VCD and the Learning Machine. 4 advertisements a day will be sufficient for the viewers to remember his products.

"Since Chief Cheng had said it, then I shall give you face. I can buy out all these slots. Name me a price." Feng Yu placed the list on the table and said.

Cheng Baojun's face lit up: "You want all the slots? Let me see, what's the total."

He opened his drawer and took out a notebook and…… a calculator!

He punched the numbers on the calculator for some time and pushed the calculator to Feng Yu: "Manager Feng, this is the final figure. Since you are so forthright, I shall give you a 10% discount. The length of the contract will last until December 31st this year."

Feng Yu took a glance at the calculator and made a mental calculation. He compared to the prices of the primetime slots. Damn, was this Cheng Baojun joking? These 8 slots were worth this price?

Feng Yu punched a few numbers on the calculator and pushed it back to Cheng Baojun: "I will take it if it is at this price. Chief Cheng, I may be rich, but I do not spend my money wastefully."

Cheng Baojun smiled: "How can you say that? This price is too low. I can't answer my higher-ups with this price."

Feng Yu would never agree to the doubled price. The price he wanted was about what CCTV had in mind.

But Cheng Baojun still wanted to try and get more out of Feng Yu. He would get some credits if he were able to let Feng Yu spend more. The advertising department highest rank allowed was only a Deputy Chief. He wants the department to be upgraded and be promoted to Chief. He could also be promoted and do something that he was familiar with.

"What do you mean that you are unable to answer to your higher-ups? Is the price I offered not reasonable? I am paying the advertising fees. In CCTV, there are some that do not need to pay for advertising."

"Since when did we let people advertise for free?" Cheng Baojun asked back. He was the one overlooking this department and does not want Feng Yu to make baseless claims.

"Didn't Panasonic air their advertisements during last year's ? Did they pay CCTV?"

"How can that be the same? That anime was given to us by Japan and had waived the copyright fees." Cheng Baojun retorted.

"Then which is more expensive? Copyright fees or advertising fees?" Feng Yu snickered.

"Erm…… That is different. We are doing this to get quality programs from overseas. Their anime is better, and if we do not let them advertise, they will not sell us that anime. Furthermore, Japan had also promised us that they will give us the rights for more anime."

"Does that mean that they will be able to air their advertisements every time? Can't you tell whether you are making a gain or loss in this deal? If animations can get an advertising slot for free, then I will buy a few animations copyrights from the US and Europe. Does that mean CCTV will let me advertise for free?" Feng Yu asked.

"Ermm…… Manager Feng, I can't make this decision. Let's take about the advertising fees. Increase that rate by 20% and I will sell you all these slots." Cheng Baojun dare not to make any decisions on the anime. These were decided by CCTV's top leaders.

"10%. This will surely be higher than the original rates. Don't think that I do not know the market rates."

Cheng Baojun replied with an embarrassed look: "Deal. I will let my men draft the contract now."

Duan Yongping gathered all the top executives in his company for a meeting. The government had opened up the video game industry and allowed importation of video game consoles.

Currently, The Little Tyrant was making use of its cheap pricing, pirated game cartridges, and aggressive advertising to control China's market.

But Duan Yonping knew that their consoles were imitations of Nintendo's old model, and Nintendo still has the patents of the consoles. All the game cartridges were counterfeits. If Nintendo were to sue them for copyright infringement, then they would be facing hefty fines and possible shut down.

Luckily, they were aware of this problem in advanced and had been developing a new product. A product that belongs to The Little Tyrant.

They had made some progress with this new product. They had noticed that the income of families had increased, but the parents were not willing to buy a video game console for their children. Most parents think that video games will affect their studies.

Duan Yongping suddenly had an idea. What if they were producing educational game consoles which will help children with their studies? He could make simple games with words, idioms or foreign languages and the parents will be willing to buy these games for their children. The kids will be able to play games and learn at the same time. This was killing two birds with one stone!

Of course, before the production of this new product, Duan Yongping needs to do market research. They realized that other than computers which had this function, there were no similar products. Computers cost more than 10,0000 RMB. If they simplify the manufacturing process and produce a cheap and useful product, the cost can be controlled within 2,000 RMB. If they priced it at 3,000 RMB, it should be selling well!

Duan Yongping was excited by this idea. He believes that The Little Tyrant had found a new revenue source. This was a new product that was between a video game console and a computer.

Duan Yongping got the support from the rest of the top executives in the company. All of them felt that a new product will secure The Little Tyrant's position in China. The company will not be a cheapskate game console factory.

Duan Yongping presented his idea to his leaders. The Little Tyrant currently was still a state-owned enterprise. The leaders also felt that this was a good idea, but when they probe further, they found out that The Little Tyrant had spent all their funds on developing this new product. Duan Yongping wanted the City to give them 1 million to carry on developing this product.

The City refused. They had already given The Little Tyrant 1 million RMB to develop new products, and they had spent it all. The new product was still not developed, and they still want 1 million more?

Duan Yongping explained to the leaders patiently. This new product will monopolize the country and will beat all other video game console factories in China. Their factory's profits will increase by several folds.

Most importantly, they will not infringe the patent rights!

China had opened up the market for video games and allowed importation of game console. These foreign companies will surely do market research and will know that they were using their technologies illegally. If The Little Tyrant were to be sued by them, then they have to stop the production of their consoles. Even if those companies did not sue them, they might introduce low-cost consoles. These big brands will also affect their sales.

Duan Yongping was also helpless about this. In this era, the Chinese always thinks that imported products were better than their domestic products. Expensive stuff was better quality products. He was afraid that even when those imported consoles did not lower their prices, his market share will also be affected.

It was important for the Little Tyrant to develop a new product as this would affect their survival in this industry.

Actually, the City leader was not pleased with Duan Yongping way back. Duan Yongping had been saying that there were problems with the management in The Little Tyrant. He wanted a restructuring.

Restructuring? You are already the General Manager. What else do you want? You want to be the Chairman? This company belongs to the City and not you!

The last time Duan Yongping had told the leader that management and technology were most important to The Little Tyrant and he wanted to exchange them for shares after the restructuring.

What does this mean? Duan Yongping wants to split The Little Tyrant? He thinks that the company will close down without him? Also, the salaries of those technicians were not high enough? Their wages were 200 RMB a month. It was even higher than the leader in the City. What more do they want?

Guangdong does not lack talents. The recent few years, there were a lot of skilled technicians from the north that came to their province. If the current technicians were not happy, then the City will replace them. Those technicians from the north might be even willing to work for 150 RMB!

Duan Yongping had said that The Little Tyrant should be changed to a shareholding and some of the useless departments in the company must be removed. They should increase the RD and sales department. Shares can be given out as rewards. This was to show the company's appreciation for the employees who had made huge contributions.

Of course, Duan Yongping also felt that he was the one that set up The Little Tyrant. When he took over this company, the company had debts or more than 2 million RMB. He did not ask the City for money to repay the debts. Instead, he persuaded the distributors and suppliers to give him time. It was because of him, The Little Tyrant was developed. Even when in debt, he placed advertisements in CCTV. This was the reason why The Little Tyrant became the market leader in the video game console industry.

The name The Little Tyrant was to let this console become the tyrant in this industry. It can be said that Duan Yongping had achieved it. The few years, he had earned tens of millions for the City.

He was the one who had brought all these for the city and should he be rewarded? Look at those foreign enterprises. All their top executives held the company's shares. Why can't he have the same thing? Which senior executive in the company was more capable and made more contributions than him? Why were those foreign companies' top executives getting thousands of RMB salaries and he was only getting slightly more than 200 RMB a month?

There were a lot of companies in other provinces that had undergone restructuring, and the leaders were rewarded with shares of the company, based on their contribution. Duan Yongping felt that this should be the benchmark. No one in the company will have other opinions. He was the one that brought the company back to life, and everyone in the company were grateful to him.

But the City does not agree with him. They felt that the company does not need to be restructured. This was a state-owned enterprise, and the company was progressing well. There was no need for any changes.

But after Duan Yongping''s constant protest, the City relented. If Duan Yongping were to quit, they could not find anyone suitable to replace him.

The City gave Duan Yongping a condition. If The Little Tyrant's profit were able to exceed 100 million RMB in a year, then they would talk about the restructuring of the company.

Duan Yongping was overjoyed. The City had finally relented to his request. But now the City does not want to give him funds to develop the new product. Without the funds, then there will not be any new product. How can the company make money without the new product? If the City had not taken away all the company's profits last year, the company does not even need to beg the City.

After Duan Yongping persistent pleads, the City agreed to give him 500,000 RMB. If he made any breakthrough, then the City will consider if they will provide him with more funds. Duan Yongping happily left. He was determined to develop the learning machine and let the City sees his capabilities!

However, Duan Yongping was not aware that Aiwa's prototype of learning machine was ready!

Beijing, a recording studio. A young woman was recording a new song, and Feng Yu had his headphone on listening to the beautiful voice. This young woman was the top female singer in China in Feng Yu's previous life. Her vocal cords were really unique.

"Mr. Feng, I really like this song. Thank you very much." Na Ying stepped out of the studio and bowed to Feng Yu.

"I also like your voice too. I had written this song especially for you. Of course, I am still saying the same thing. If you sign this contract, you will be getting much more."

Feng Yu passed an endorsement contract to Na Ying. Sun Nan will be endorsing Wind and Rain VCD player, and Na Ying was selected by Feng Yu to endorse for Aiwa VCD player.

Both Sun Nan and Na Ying were China's top singers currently. After the New Year Eve Gala Dinner, Sun Nan became famous overnight. He had lots of performances lined up. A Hong Kong label wanted to sign him and help him cut a specially tailored album for him.

If this were in Feng Yu's past life, Sun Nan would be at a losing end in this contract. As a new singer, the money he will get will be very little. But now, Sun Nan was already famous and will get more benefits if he were to sign this contract.

Sun Nan had called Feng Yu to express his gratitude. If Feng Yu had not picked him and wrote two songs for him, he would never get such opportunities. Even when Sun Nan was confident of his singing, there was still a difference between becoming famous now and one year later.

Na Ying was China's up and rising female singer. Her status in the pop music category currently could still not be compared to Mao Amin and a few other Chinese singers, but Feng Yu knew that with her vocal cords, she would be popular. Most importantly, Feng Yu liked her songs.

Feng Yu had offered 1 million for a 10 years contract. Na Ying will not be allowed to endorse similar products. Even music or recording products were not allowed.

Na Ying was tempted by this offer. But she felt that 10 years was too long. She would prefer a 3 years contract worth 300,000 RMB. Also, she was not sure what Aiwa VCD player was.

At this time, Feng Yu gave her a new song to see if she likes it or not.

was Na Ying's song in Feng Yu's previous life. It was the song that shot her to stardom and became the queen of Chinese pop. Her other song, , was also a good song which had topped the music charts, but it was not as good. The lyrics for that song was also not suitable for the current era. This was enough for her to catch up with Mao Amin.

"Mr. Feng, 10 years is a bit long. Can we change it to 5 years? 400,000 RMB will do."

Feng Yu smiled: "Sister Na, do you think this song is better than ? Can this song improve your singing career?"

Although Na Ying does not want to admit, she knew that this was the truth.

Na Ying nodded: "But……"

Feng Yu waved his hand and interrupted Na Ying: "You think that the endorsement fee I offered is too low and in two years, your fees will increase by a lot, right? But have you ever considered the fact that Aiwa is a big brand? Our Walkman has more than 90% of China's market share. Even without you endorsing our brand, just the advertisement alone, will our VCD player sales be affected? Remember Yan Wu Kid? He became famous and entered the showbiz after he advertised for Yan Wu cassette player. Our brand will be marketing our products more aggressively than Yan Wu."

Feng Yu was speaking the truth. Yan Wu Kid was still a student when he stared in that commercial. He became famous because of that commercial. But Na Ying was different. She had some popularity now. But Feng Yu did not lie that Na Ying would gain more exposure after she became the spokesperson for Aiwa. More people will know about her.

"Can I go back and consider?"

"Yes, of course. But please hurry. We need to shoot the commercial soon. If you drag it for too long, I might have to change another spokesperson. You know about Sun Nan? I had written two songs for him, and he had just signed with a Hong Kong Label. He will be releasing a new album for the South East Asia market. Don't you want to be like him?"

……

The next day, after Na Ying had consulted her teacher and discussed with her family members, she signed the contract. Although the length of the contract was long, it was an excellent opportunity for her.

"You will not regret your decision. I guaranteed that you will be performing on CCTV Spring Festival Gala Night this year!" Feng Yu said mysteriously. In his previous life, Na Ying was invited to perform on this year Gala Night. People started to notice her after her performance on Gala Night. Previously, people only heard her songs but does not know her.

Na Ying was shocked. Feng Yu dare to guarantee that she would be performing on the Gala Night? If Feng Yu had said this earlier, she would not even consider for one night.

"This 1 million RMB is after ta. With this sum of money, you can concentrate on your singing career. But I need to remind you that in future, you must remember to declare all your earnings for every performance, even in nightclubs, and pay your taxes."

Feng Yu had also reminded Sun Nan, Liu Daqing, Baldy Chen, etc. In his previous life, they had under-declared their earnings, and some did not even pay taxes. Liu Daqing and Mao Amin were some of the many who were punished severely by the government.

Now, Sun Nan and Na Ying were the spokespersons for Wind and Rain and Aiwa. Feng Yu does not want them to make such mistakes. Of course, if they get into trouble with the law, it would be a breeched of contract. They do not need to compensate Feng Yu any amount, but they need to return the endorsement fee to Feng Yu. Feng Yu does not want them to affect his brands' image.

After this, Na Ying and Sun Nan start to shoot the commercial for both brands.

Wind and Rain used the song as background music, while Aiwa uses . Both songs had different styles, and the singer had very different voices. Even the way the advertisement was shot, was very different.

Feng Yu had no choice. Na Ying had good looks, and she was also considered a pretty singer, but Sun Nan's looks…… can only be marketed as a good singer! Idol? This word got nothing to do with him for his whole life.

Feng Yu had also hired two famous directors to shoot the commercials. One was Chen Kaige, who had filmed . The other was the director for , Zhang Yimou.

Fu Guangzheng does not understand why Feng Yu had hired two directors to film the commercials. They were the leading directors in China and also the most expensive.

Feng Yu was thinking in his heart that he had not only hired them as the directors for the commercials. He had also signed the contracts with them for 3 commercials and had paid them in full. They were not still not considered expensive now. Their fees will increase by several folds in one or two years!

"I want to let the consumers see the rivalry between these two brands and are competing to outdo each other." Feng Yu replied to Fu Guangzheng.

Rivalry? Fu Guangzheng saw the light suddenly. This way, the fans of these two singers and directors will support their brands and no matter which brand they supported, Feng Yu would be the one talking all the money!

This was what Sony and Aiwa did in the past. The rivalry between both brands let them establish a strong foothold in the industry and at the same time, kick out other competitors.

Fu Guangzhen gave Feng Yu a thumb up.

Feng Yu saw Fu Guangzheng's expression and felt that this guy should add in one line: "Smart, you are so smart!"

The agreement between Aiwa and Nintendo was before the launch of Aiwa's learning machine, Aiwa will not let Nintendo use its distribution channels in China.

China had allowed the importation of video game console. Nintendo wants to enter the China market earlier than Sega to prevent the latter from controlling the Chinese market. As such, Nintendo helped Aiwa to manufacture a batch of learning machines first. As for the game cartridges, China's factories will be producing for them. The games were mainly games that involve idioms, words, languages, etc.

At the end of May, Aiwa Learning Machine was launched in China. Feng Yu had set the retail price at 3,288 RMB per unit, and the wholesale price at 3,000 RMB per unit. The cost price per unit was only about 1,500 RMB. This was still the cost of having Nintendo manufacturing for him, and it includes the importation taxes and transportation cost. If it were manufactured by China's factories, the cost would be lowered to about 1,000 RMB.

Nintendo had also introduced a few models of game consoles for different consumer segments. The prices range from 1,000 to 3,000 RMB. Nintendo wishes to occupy China's market with these products. Sega also introduces a few different models to counter Nintendo.

Both Nintendo and Sega think little of Aiwa's Learning Machine and The Little Tyrant. They felt that their consoles were cheaper, had better quality games and more beautiful. Their consoles would take over China's video game industry in no time. This would be just like when they penetrate the US and European market.

Nintendo was still doing well as they had cooperated with Aiwa and had access to their distribution channels. Those distributors were willing to try to sell their products. They want to know if Nintendo consoles and games could let them make any profits. But as they were only treating this as a trial, they did not order too many goods from Nintendo. On the other hand, Sega was not doing well. No retailers wanted to bring in their products. It was because no one in China had heard of this brand and it was still pricey. Everyone felt that this product would not sell in China!

When Sega's person in charge of the Chinese market heard these reasons, he almost cried. Sega was also one of the top Video game consoles, but in China, Sega was only considered the second rated product. What's wrong with our brand? Our products were popular in western countries!

But soon, Nintendo and Sega realized that China was full of cheap game consoles. They bought some of these consoles back and found out that these consoles were using their patented technologies. Even the exterior designs were imitating them. These companies had not paid them for using their patents!

These companies were illegally using their technologies!

Nintendo and Sega start to complain to the Chinese Government. They wanted the Government to stop these companies from selling those consoles, and at the same time compensate them for their losses. However, the Chinese Government sided with their own people. What patents are you talking about? Did you apply for the licenses in China? Did you apply for the patents in Asia? We are not aware of these in China.

Asia was very different from Western countries. In the West, there were treaties and all those countries abided by the agreements. This includes the patent protection. This was the reason why patents were more protected there, compared to Asia. This was mainly so for South East Asia. The patent needs to be applied in different countries. For instance, Japan's patents were not recognized in China.

When Nintendo and Sega were negotiating with the Chinese Government, Aiwa Learning Machine's advertisements started to air on CCTV.

The star of this commercial was still Jin Ming, China's most famous child actress. No one was more popular than her. Her endorsement fees were also not high.

Feng Yu was also the one who thought of the idea for the commercial. Jin Ming was at home. On her table was Aiwa Learning Machine connected to a TV.

On the TV screen, there were a few birds with English words on them flying about. Jin Ming was typing on the keyboard, and those little birds start dropping like they were shot.

A middle-aged woman walked in and passed an apple to Jin Ming: "Dear, how do you call this apple in English?"

"A-P-P-L-E, apple! So easy!" As Jin ming was spelling the word out, she also made an "OK" sign.

The woman hugged Jin Ming with one hand and pointed the Aiwa Learning Machine with the other: "Since I had bought Aiwa Learning Machine for my child, I do not have to worry about her studies."

The camera panned and zoom in to Aiwa Learning Machine on the table, and Jin Ming's voice could be heard in the background: "Aiwa learning the machine, learn at your own pace!"

The screen changed to a picture of Aiwa Learning Machine with Aiwa's slogan: "Aiwa Electronics, I love China!"

……

"Dear, shall we buy this Aiwa Learning Machine for our child? Our child had scored lower than next door Old Zhang's child for his English!"

"Fine. Tomorrow you go to the mall and check it out. We really supervise our child's studies. His teacher had reprimanded me whenever I see her!"

……

"Mum, I want that Aiwa Learning Machine."

"What do you want that for? You are also not learning English."

"There is an idiom game in it too. I want to learn idioms. Furthermore, this can also be used to learn to type. Our teacher had told us that in the future, everyone will be using computers for typing."

"Then you go and ask your father. If he agrees, I will buy one for you."

……

"Dad, I am going to Xiao Ming house. His father had bought Aiwa Learning Machine. I am going to study with him."

"Will your grades improve when you use that thing?"

"It is better than nothing."

"Go ahead. We will also buy one this weekend at the mall. In the future, you can stay at home and study."

……

"Eh, your father had bought Aiwa Learning Machine for you? Are you staying at home on weekends studying?"

"Shhhh…… Video game cartridges are also compatible with this Learning Machine. I have been playing Contra!"

"Huh? This Learning Machine can also be used as a video game console?"

"That's right. My father did not want to buy video games for me. But this time, he had bought this Learning Machine for me. My father is outstation, and my mother is working night shift tonight. You want to come over to my house to play the game?"

"Ok. I will tell my mum that I am going over to your place to study!"

……

The advertisements at CCTV were very effective. The VCD player was not launched yet, and the advertising slots Feng Yu bought were all airing Aiwa Learning Machine. Within 3 days, the distributors were calling Tai Hua Trading to order more goods.

There were only 10,000 units of Aiwa Learning Machine for the first batch, and each distributor got only 300 to 500 units. From the current situation, their stock would be sold out within a week!

Wu Zhigang immediately contacted Fu Guangzheng. Aiwa Learning Machine was also imported into China through Hong Kong as the taxes were lower. Hong Kong Aiwa Co. had also exported this product to Taiwan and Malaysia.

Luckily Aiwa had been expanding their factories. When Feng Yu said that he wants to launch the Learning Machine, they bought two more production lines. These were all in Japan and had started manufacturing the Learning Machine. Nintendo was manufacturing for Aiwa as a contractor.

When the second batch of 20,000 units was delivered to China, the Learning Machine had also gained popularity in other South East Asia markets.

This Learning Machine was using 486 processors. It has some functions similar to a computer, and it was only selling for 600 USD! Aiwa's technologies were outstanding. No wonder Aiwa Walkman was better than Sony. This was the power of technology!

At first, Heitaro Nakajima does not think well of this Learning Machine. But Feng Yu was insistent and had even asked him to pay Nintendo to manufacture for them. Now, from the sales figures, Feng Yu was right. If this Learning Machine were produced by others, they would have missed out all these profits.

Moreover, Heitaro Nakajima had wanted to enter the computer market. This Learning Machine was a test of his technicians' abilities!

Along with the growing popularity of the Learning Machine, Aiwa Walkman sales in South East Asia had increased further. This was the benefit of branding! As long as a brand have a successful product, the consumers will also take notice of the other products!

Aiwa Learning Machine was a success!

Translator's notes: Jin Ming, born in Beijing, is probably the most famous Chinese child star of the past two decades. Dubbed "China's Shirley Temple," Jin, with her sweet and cute looks, was favored by millions of Chinese in the 1990s when she shot a series of TV hits adapted from the novels written by well-known Chinese romance author Chiung Yao, including "Wanjun" (1990), "Longing for Husband to Return" (1990), "Grass by Riverside" (1992) and "Plum Blossom" (1993).

Jin's1989 portrayal of the wholesome girl Wanjun when she was only nine years old, made a long-lasting impression on her fans, pushing her into the box of "China's child star forever." Yet, Jin gradually lost her fame as she grew up. She has become a rather unknown or vague figure in the showbiz world since the age of 18. Jin began to work at the Chinese Coal Mine Art Troupe after graduating from the School of International Studies, Peking University, in 2003. It's reported that she tied the knot with Chinese film promoter An Yugang in September 2012.

When The Little Tyrant was still developing the Learning Machine, they discovered that there was already a similar product in the market and it was advertising on CCTV. It was Aiwa that had introduced this product.

All of them had never expected Aiwa, who had been manufacturing Walkman, would produce Learning Machines!

They immediately purchased a few units from the market and dismantled them. This was faster than developing the product themselves. Soon, Duan Yongping extracted the technologies in the Learning Machine.

Duan Yongping excitedly reported to his leaders that they had successfully developed their new product. The cost was also less than 1,300 RMB. Although Aiwa Learning Machine was already in the market, he was not worried.

When he started to manufacturing video game consoles, there were also similar products in the market. But in the end, The Little Tyrant had beaten all their competitors.

This Learning Machine will also be the same. You are selling at 3,000 RMB because it is an imported product. The importation taxes and transportation were a fixed cost and could not be lowered. The Little Tyrant was different. Their cost was lower and could set the retail price as 2,000 RMB per unit.

The Little Tyrant had won all its competitors through price war in the past. Although Aiwa was a big brand, The Little Tyrant's brand was also popular, especially in the southern region.

The leaders were glad that the new product was finally ready. The research funds had not gone to waste. Duan Yongping had promised them that The Little Tyrant's learning machine will quickly occupy the market. Even though Aiwa was advertising on CCTV, The Little Tyrant also had advertising contracts with CCTV.

Aiwa's commercial was about to entice the parents to purchase their Learning Machine for their children, but Duan Yongping also had an excellent idea for his ads. Children's song. A song that could be remembered easily by children. When they were playing, they could sing this song. This would be very effective.

Now, Duan Yongping needs funds for marketing. They can get the local TV stations to air their commercials, and they had established sales channels. It would not be a problem for them to grab the market share from Aiwa!

The leader nodded and agreed with Duan Yongping. He gave Duan Yongping a sum of money for marketing. He was looking forward to the Little Tyrant's Learning Machine to become famous throughout China and the annual profit to be over 100 million!

After getting the funds, Duan Yongping immediately ordered the factory to manufacture the Learning Machine at full capacity. They can stop the production for their consoles. The foreign video game consoles had already entered China, and they have more interesting games. He wants The Little Tyrant to slowly move away from the video game industry. He needs the consumer to think that the Little Tyrant was a company that manufactures Learning Machines.

But when he went to the Trade and Industry Bureau, he found out that his product cannot be named as Learning Machine!

Duan Yongping was puzzled. Why can't his product be named as Learning Machine?

The staff at the Trade and Industry Bureau told him that "Learning Machine" was registered by Tai Hua Trading as their trademark and had authorized Hong Kong Aiwa Co. to use this name. The Little Tyrant was not authorized, and if he uses it, it would be a breach. Their product would be considered counterfeit merchandise!

Duan Yongping had never expected the product he was developing for so long was already registered. But this did not stop him. You called your product Learning Machine, then I will call my product Super Learning Machine. The Little Tyrant Super Learning Machine sounds superior to Aiwa Learning Machine. When the parents heard this name, they would surely buy his product!

After leaving the Trade and Industry Bureau, Duan Yongping suddenly remembered about the patents. Did the Learning Machine register their technologies?

After some inquiries, it was really as what he had thought. The few technologies in the Learning Machine were registered. If the Little Tyrant were to use those technologies, they needed the authorization from Aiwa Japan!

Duan Yongping listlessly returns to the company. He had asked his staff to develop this product, but now, they cannot manufacture it. How can he even make 100 million?

Duan Yongping will not get the shares of the company from the City. He might even be taken to task! He knew that the leader in the City had been unhappy with him, but the leader does not have an excuse to deal with him. Now, he had presented this excuse to the Leader personally!

The factory had purchased the materials and had started manufacturing the Learning Machine. Duan Yongping had also contacted all his distributors to get ready for his products next month.

But now, he cannot sell this product. This was patent infringement! He could argue with Japan's video game companies, and the Chinese government will still support him.

But what if both parties were Chinese companies? Which side will the Government take? Aiwa was more powerful than them, and Tai Hua Trading was still a company that had won a national level award!

If both companies were to get involved in a lawsuit, he would surely lose. His product will even be branded as a counterfeit product. As the General Manager, he might also be put behind bars!

The City's Leader was still dreaming about the Little Tyrant's Learning Machine. This would be his credit, and he will be promoted!

But Duan Yongping told him that the Little Tyrant cannot manufacture the Learning Machine suddenly.

This was shocking news. The Leader was shocked. Why can't the product be manufactured? Didn't this product was successfully developed? You had told me that the production lines were changed, and we can produce the product at full capacity.

Infringement. We had infringed Aiwa's patent and their trademark. The Leader could settle the trademark infringement easily, but it was impossible for the patents. Unless the Little Tyrant could get the authorization from Aiwa!

But how was this possible? Aiwa's Learning Machine had no competitors, and this product was new to the market. No one in the right mind would authorize someone else their patents.

The Leader was furious!

You need funds, I had given you funds. I had supported you in everything you do, and now you are telling me that we can't sell this product?

"How much funds have you taken from the City? What did you promise me at the start? Now, how am I going to answer the higher-ups? Answer me!"

"I will take full responsibility for this matter!" Duan Yongping lowered his head. If he did not take full responsibility, then someone else in the company got to take the blame. He believed that with his ability, even if he was fired, he could still get a high paying job. He might even start his own business.

But what would happen to someone else if he was sacked? After all, he was the one who had given the orders to start this new product. There was no way he could push the blame to someone else.

"You will take full responsibility? How are you going to take responsibility? A few million is spent on developing this new product and what about the distributors? We have already collected over 10 million RMB from the distributors, and according to the contract, we have to compensate them double! That is more than 20 million! You think everything will be solved just by you telling me that you will take full responsibility?!"

Duan Yongping realized that his decision had cost The Little Tyrant more than 20 million! Even if he resigns, this will not be settled.

"Continue to produce and send the goods to the distributors according to the contract. This is the only solution!" The Leader thought for a while and said.

Duan Yongping was shocked. This was illegal. He will be the one taking the blame, and he will go to jail!

"No. I do not agree. The Little Tyrant will be finished. We should compensate the distributors. With The Little Tyrant around, there is still hope. The money we lost can still earn back. If we carry on manufacturing counterfeit products, The Little Tyrant will really be gone!"

When Duan Yongping was feeling helplessness, an unexpected guest arrived at The Little Tyrant's office.

"Hi, I am Fu Guangzheng, General Manager of Hong Kong Aiwa Co., there is something I need to discuss with you."

Feng Yu had told Fu Guangzheng to monitor this company. This company will surely manufacture Learning Machine. Fu Guangzheng must let this company know that they will be infringing patents before their products are introduced into the market. He must make sure that this company could not sell even one product!

If The Little Tyrant dares to sell, then Fu Guanzheng will get a team of lawyers to sue them!

But Feng Yu had not expected The Little Tyrant dare not to sell their learning machines, although they had already produced those products! Now, their factory had stop production, and all their goods were sitting in the warehouse collecting dust.

Fu Guangzheng showed up at The Little Tyrant was not to grant them the authorization. It was Feng Yu who was interested in The Little Tyrant's factory, brand, and staffs. He wants to acquire The Little Tyrant!

"You want to buy The Little Tyrant?"

"That's right. The Little Tyrant should be in debt now, right? The newly produced product cannot be sold. If you sell them, it will consider patent infringement. Your company will also have to be close down! If you sell The Little Tyrant to me, the City will get a sum of money, the workers will not be out of a job, and the company will still be here. The City will still be able to collect taxes."

Duan Yongping stared at Fu Guangzheng: "Did you do this on purpose?" How did he found out that The Little Tyrant was manufacturing Learning Machines? Had he been monitoring us way before everything had happened? Was this a trap?

Fu Guangzheng calmly replied: "Purposely? We purposely let you use our technologies illegally? If this is really on purpose, then I will place a huge order with your company. I will wait until you can't deliver the goods and demand compensations from you. Maybe I do not even need to come over to acquire this company. The courts might even give The Little Tyrant to me!"

Duan Yongping slumped back into his chair. That's right. If Fu Guangzheng really does that, then there was no way for The Little Tyrant to survive. But he still felt something fishy. Why someone else had already developed the Learning Machine when they just started to develop? It was normal to register the patents, but why was Learning Machine was registered as their brand?

This was weird. But like what Fu Guanzheng had said, if this were plotted, The Little Tyrant would be in a worse off situation than now. Also, Aiwa should not know that The Little Tyrant was developing Learning Machine.

But no matter what, selling the company to Aiwa was the best solution.

"Are you going to fully own The Little Tyrant?"

"No, I am only a small shareholder. There is still a major shareholder from Bing City. But he had said that in the future, he will give you some of this company's shares as a reward!"

……

"Duan Yongpping, this is the solution you are talking about? Sell The Little Tyrant?" The City's leader looked at Duan Yongping angrily. You want the City to sell a company that had made almost 30 million last year?

"Secretary Liu, other than selling this company to me, what other solution do you have? I am the only who can prevent The Little Tyrant from compensating the distributors double the amount. Because we can supply the distributors with Aiwa Learning Machine and they will definitely accept. Maybe we can also authorize The Little Tyrant to use our technologies. This is also something that only we can do, as we own all the patents." Fu Guangzheng beat his chest arrogantly.

Secretary Liu lowered his head and kept quiet. Duan Yongping was also sitting by the side and keeping quiet.

"Are there another other solution? How about we let you invest in The Little Tyrant?"

Fu Guanzheng shook his head and smiled: "I am not only representing myself. The Little Tyrant, including the company, factory, brand and all assets must be sold to us. Of course, we will also promise that we will not fire any workers without any reasons. We will also not deduct their salaries!"

Hmmm… Workers cannot be sacked, but not for those at the management level. It was too easy to look for an excuse to sack those in the management level.

Fu Guangzheng was the same as Feng Yu. They could accept the union in the company but cannot allow anyone who does not do anything in the company. A company is a company and not a government. There was no need for the company to have all sorts of departments. Some of these departments have overlapping functions! The salaries for those department heads were much higher than the workers!

"Can the City still keep some shares? You can own the majority of the shares." Secretary Liu's attitude was almost like he was begging with Fu Guangzheng.

If the City still owns some shares, then he can say that he had gotten investors from Hong Kong and private companies to invest in the company for expansion. However, if he were to sell off the company entirely, how would he explain to the higher-ups? Because we almost sold counterfeit products, the company was facing closure and was acquired by someone else?

Fu Guangzheng shook his head: "I'm sorry. We can't do that! If you sell The Little Tyrant to us, we will evaluate all the assets, including your stocks in the warehouse. Other than us, no other companies will accept those stocks! The city will get at least 20 million RMB. If you do not sell the company to us, then The Little Tyrant needs at least 30 million RMB to settle all the debts. You can think it over carefully. Do you want 20 million cash, your workers will continue to have a job, and a company that will carry on paying taxes to the city, or you want to take out 30 million to save this company. There is also a high possibility of the company going bankrupt after you have saved it. I will be waiting for your answer."

Fu Guangzheng made a call to Feng Yu when he arrived at the hotel. He told Feng Yu that they would definitely acquire this company. But why didn't Feng Yu take this opportunity to buy out this company at a low price? He believes that if he uses some strategies, he might be able to press the amount to less than 10 million RMB. Now, they were using almost 20 million RMB to buy this company. This was a waste.

However, Feng Yu was okay with this. This way, their relationship with the City will also be better, and they could still keep the technical staffs in the company.

Fu Guangzheng also felt that The Little Tyrant's technical staffs were really skillful. They managed to break the Learning Machine's technologies in such a short time. But they should not be worth for Feng Yu to invest so much money. As a Hong Kong Businessman, he was not afraid of the Local Government.

……

That very day, Zhongshan City government meeting lasted until midnight. All the leaders were discussing whether to accept Fu Guanzheng's offer. At the end of the session, all of them agreed to accept this deal.

After all, all the situations mentioned by Fu Guangzheng might happen, and they must face it. They only have two solutions. One was to sell the company and take the money. The other was to come out with 30 million to save the company, but the company could still be bankrupt, and the workers will be out of jobs.

Secretary Liu reported this to his higher-up in Yang City, and his higher-up hesitated for a while and agreed to sell The Little Tyrant to the Hong Kong businessman.

Fu Guangzheng brought his team to evaluate The Little Tyrant's assets. The materials and products in the warehouse were worth a few million. All the equipment and other assets were still in the company. But the liquid assets were missing. The city had withdrawn all the money from the company.

Fu Guangzheng was furious. They had agreed that he will take over all the company's debts and the city cannot touch all the assets. Now, the money was missing. During negotiations, Fu Guangzheng did not give the City any face. He pointed out the many problems in The Little Tyrant company. For instance, the factory was too small, the workers were too old, the management was too messy, multiple mistakes in the accounts, the bad assets were also valued too high, etc.

You mentioned that you have tens of millions of orders? Please…… Can you even finish those orders? Without us, those orders will kill you!

In the end, Fu Guangzheng sacked most of the people in the management level. Only a few people that were in charge of production, sales and RD remained. The final takeover amount was also lowered to 17 million RMB. At first, Fu Guangzheng had promised 20 million RMB, and the City had withdrawn only about 800,000 RMB from the accounts. Because of the City's greediness, they lost a few million!

The Little Tyrant was officially renamed as Aiwa Little Tyrant Company. Feng Yu held 80% shares, and Fu Guangzheng held 10%. Feng Yu gave Duan Yongping the remaining 10% shares for him to distribute to the rest of the staffs. It was up to him to decide which staff would get the shares. Feng Yu also promised Duan Yongping the company's shares if he could make significant contributions to the company.

After taking over The Little Tyrant, the factory will produce products for two brands. One was the Aiwa Learning Machine, and the other was The Little Tyrant Super Learning Machine. The retail prices for both products were different. The Little Tyrant Super Learning Machine was priced at 2,680 RMB.

Feng Yu had finally monopolized the Learning Machine industry.

Norio Ohga had been monitoring Aiwa closely. After all, Aiwa had not fully repaid their debts to Sony. Aiwa had introduced two models of Walkman this year and had beaten Sony again. Now, Aiwa holds more than 40% of the Walkman market share globally, and this figure was still raising. Sony's market share had dropped to about 30%, and it was still declining!

Norio Ohga also discovered that Aiwa had made a big mistake, which was the Learning Machine, jointly developed by Aiwa and Nintendo!

What the hell was this thing? It looks like a game console, but it was not a game console. It looks like a computer, but it was not a computer. Who would buy such a product? Seems like Aiwa will waste all the profits made from their Walkman on this Learning Machine.

For such a useless product, Aiwa still asked Nintendo to manufacture for them. Was Nintendo stupid? Why did Nintendo let Aiwa take the bigger share of the profits? That's because not much profits could be generated from this product! Nintendo only wanted Aiwa's distribution channels in China.

That Chinese boss of Aiwa was really stupid. He had even persuaded the government to allow video game consoles to enter China.

After Nintendo and Sega entered the Chinese market, those Chinese video game consoles companies will be finished. That laughable Learning Machine will surely be obsolete. This was a lack of foresight!

Just like in the past, Aiwa might return to its previous situation. Being in debts because of a failed product!

Once Aiwa has problems with their finances, Sony's Walkman will rise again. Sony was now researching on super slim Walkman. When this model was introduced into the market, it would be Sony's turnaround!

Aiwa had focused all their attention on this Learning Machine. Norio Ohga had also heard that Aiwa had exchanged some technologies with another company and purchased two new production lines to manufacture a new type of video player.

Norio Ohga was overjoyed. Heitaro Nakajima was a greedy person. He wants to do everything and does not take Aiwa's capabilities into consideration. How could Aiwa take care of so many fronts? Does the company have enough RD staffs? Not every company have so many developers like Sony!

Sony will definitely overtake Aiwa this time! Especially Aiwa will need to repay their debts at the end of this year. We shall see how Aiwa repay their debts after spending so much money this year. Will, that Chinese brat have money to repay the debts?

If Heitaro Nakajima was sacked by the Chinese boss, then Aiwa will be gone. Without Heitaro Nakajima, Aiwa will have no way to revive!

When Norio Ohga, all of Sony's higher management and all of Japan's electronics companies were waiting for Aiwa to fail, they received news that Aiwa Learning Machine was out of stock. All the distributors in China were waving their cheques, requesting Aiwa to increase their production.

Soon after, the Learning Machine started to appear in many South East Asia countries. Although the sales in these countries were not outstanding, they did not have any competitors and did not make any losses. From the way things were going, it was only a matter of time before Aiwa make big profits in these countries!

Now, Norio Ohga, all of Sony's higher management and all of Japan's electronics companies were stunned. They started to investigate why this Learning Machine could sell so well and how this product makes money.

From their perspective, this was only a video game console with old outdated game cartridges. Although there was a keyboard attached and could learn foreign languages, there was nothing special. But this product was hugely popular with the consumers!

Soon, Aiwa had bought a company in China and started to produce another brand of Learning Machine. Aiwa also begins to sell this Learning Machine in Japan.

All of them did not expect that this Learning Machine could sell well in Japan. As Aiwa Learning Machine was only sold in Aiwa's retail shops, they did not need to do many promotions. Aiwa's retail shop has high traffic, and the Learning Machines were widely accepted by the Japanese!

Now, the consumers were saying that Aiwa's technologies were good enough to produce computers and were better than Sony. What a joke! Were computers so easily manufactured? If it were so easy, Sony would have created their own computers ages ago. Aiwa's electronic technologies could never be better than Sony, except for Walkman!

But all these people firmly believe that this was only for the time being. Aiwa will not depend on this product to earn money. Furthermore, Aiwa was also going to introduce a new type of video player. This was a greater joke!

It was impossible for Aiwa to make money from every product!

……

The Nintendo Chairman was fuming at their headquarters.

Nintendo had entered the Chinese market for about a month, but what were the sales? All of you had said that China was a new market and once we had penetrated into the market, we will surely increase Nintendo's sales and profits.

But what happened in the end? This was the second month, and none of the distributors were ordering goods. This was because the consoles they ordered in the first month were still sitting on the shelves!

Nintendo's factories had increased their consoles productions, and all these consoles were sitting in their warehouse. If this carries on, they have to lower the selling price. The Chairman could still accept if the China market were taken over by Sega. After all, Sega was still number 2 in the global video game industry. Some of Sega's technologies were more advanced than Nintendo.

But in truth, the Chinese do not like Nintendo, and they had not even heard of Sega!

Nintendo had paid the advertising fees but why were there only newspaper advertisements? Where's the TV commercials? China has TV stations that cover the whole of China, why can't you advertise on these channels? What? No available advertising slots? Useless! All of you are useless!

Nintendo had wrongly estimated the Chinese market. Their products were too expensive, and the Chinese could not accept their prices. The consoles that were sold were only those models that cost about 1,000 RMB. No one was buying those consoles which cost more than 2,000 RMB.

Both consoles had the same functions. It was only the games cartridges that comes along with the consoles that were different. Nintendo also realized that there were counterfeit games of their newest titles within a short period. These counterfeits cost ranging from a few RMB to over 10 RMB. All the original game cartridges cost more than 100 RMB.

Nintendo also noticed that Learning Machine was selling very well. Although this Learning Machine was using Aiwa brand, Aiwa was taking the significant share of the profits and Nintendo was getting only a small part.

But very soon, Nintendo found out that Aiwa had reduced their production and had bought a Chinese company. Authorization was given to this Chinese company to produce another model of Learning Machine, called The Little Tyrant Super Learning Machine!

Nintendo felt that they were fooled by Aiwa. They had given Aiwa these technologies and had help Aiwa developed this product. However, the profits were reduced now!

"Call Heitaro Nakajima now! If he still wants to cooperate with us, then he has to give me an explanation!"

The Nintendo Chairman thought that with Nintendo's influences, Aiwa will inevitably give in to his demands. But Heitaro Nakajima did not hesitate to tell him that if Nintendo thinks that Nintendo was at a losing end of this cooperation, then we can go separate ways!

At this time, Nintendo knew that Aiwa had made use of them and they were fooled by Aiwa! This was just like what happened between them and Sony.

Aiwa had terminated their cooperation, but they had gotten some of Nintendo's technologies. The technologies Nintendo acquired from Aiwa were not as valuable. Although Nintendo had gotten what they wished for, entering the Chinese market and share Aiwa's sales distribution channels, but their products were not selling in China. They had suffered an enormous loss!

Now, Nintendo was the same as Sony. Both were cursing Aiwa and praying for Aiwa to fail. They cursed Aiwa's new video player to fail, and the learning machine was only a passing trend!

The Little Tyrant's Super Learning Machine was introduced to the market. Although it was priced lower than Aiwa Learning Machine, the sales were not as good as Duan Yongping expects.

Duan Yongping came up with an idea for his commercial. "The Clapping Song." Feng Yu immediately arrange two advertising slots for him.

"You clap once, I clap once, The Little Tyrant has a new Learning Machine."

In Feng Yu's past life, this was the classic Little Tyrant's advertising jingle. However, in this life, this jingle will not be as effective as it was in his past life. In his previous life, The Little Tyrant did not have any competitors.

In this life, Aiwa Learning Machine was already in the market for almost a month and was advertising aggressively. There were 8 advertisements on CCTV every day. No other company or brands had done this before.

Duan Yongping had analyzed his marketing tactics and felt that it was because The Little Tyrant does not have any celebrities endorsing its products. If he could get a celebrity to endorse his Learning Machine, the sales should pick up. There were not many famous celebrities now. The only one that was famous throughout China and even the whole world was Jackie Chan.

Duan Yongping called Feng Yu and told Feng Yu that he was thinking of getting Jackie Chan to endorse The Little Tyrant Learning Machine.

Feng Yu got a shock and almost threw the phone on the floor. Who did you say? Jackie Chan?

For goodness sake, Jackie Chan was also known as a brand killer in his previous life. Whatever products he endorses, something terrible will happen to that brand. There was even a term called "Jackie Chan's endorsement" in the business world to describe the death of a company!

After Jackie Chan had endorsed for The Little Tyrant's Learning Machine and The Little Tyrant close down. He endorsed for Ai Duo VCD player, and the boss of that company was put behind bars, and the company closes down. He endorsed for Fen Huang Cola, and this brand disappeared. He endorsed for Volkswagen Caddy, and only about 900 units were sold in entire China. This model withdrew from the Chinese market soon after. He endorsed for Bawang shampoo and later this shampoo was rumored to cause cancer. He endorsed for Si Lian Dumplings, and these dumplings were ordered to be removed from the shelves as it was contaminated with bacteria. He endorsed for Mitsubishi cars, and Mitsubishi had a massive recall of its vehicles due to faulty parts.

In Feng Yu's past life, The Little Tyrant was the first company that was killed by this curse! This was why when Feng Yu heard Duan Yongping mentioning Jackie Chan, he almost had a stroke.

"Manager Feng, Jackie Chan is famous throughout China, Asia, and even the whole world. He is the hottest Asian celebrity now. If we can get him to endorse our products, we can even export. I had called his manager and the endorsement fees for two years, including commercials and printed advertisements, is only about 5 million RMB. I have bargained this amount to 4.5 million."

4.5 million for 2 years was really a good deal. Compared to Jackie Chan's fame, even it was only in Asia, this price was worth it. Jackie Chan seldom visits China now as Hong Kong's handover still had not happened. He did not attend any business activities in China yet. As such, his pricing was still low in China.

The price given to The Little Tyrant was only to test the market. He wants to know how much he could charge in China.

There was someone who had come to Jackie Chan's defense about his curse in Feng Yu's previous life. After Jackie Chan's endorsement, the product sales will increase exponentially. Everybody liked celebrities and trusted them. The consumers will choose to buy the products they endorsed. As the sales rose, the production could not keep up, and the companies had to expand their operations. The management could not keep up and made the wrong decisions. Some companies' products had problems too, and the companies had relied too much on Jackie Chan's popularity.

Most importantly, a tall tree catches the wind. There might be no problem with the brand or product, but because it was Jackie Chan, more people will take note of the product he endorsed. A small issue will be blown out of proportion. Some of the companies' rival might be behind all these.

If Duan Yongping got Jackie Chan as the brand ambassador, then Feng Yu must make sure that there were no problems in The Little Tyrant's management. Actually, he does not need to worry too much. The Little Tyrant in his previous life had too many government staff in the management, and there were rumors that the company's accounts were very messy.

Now, The Little Tyrant was restructured and changed to a shareholding. Fu Guangzheng had also sent his men to manage this company. Without the government interfering with the management, there should not be any problems.

The only worry Feng Yu had was The Little Tyrant could not keep up with the production. If they hire factories as their contractors, the quality might be affected, and this would be a big problem.

There were many electronics factories in Guangdong. In Feng Yu's past life, The Little Tyrant had to get some of these companies to manufacture their products, and there were problems with the quality. This resulted in The Little Tyrant shut down.

Feng Yu was considering if he should acquire some small factories to increase The Little Tyrant's production. Managing these factories himself was better than getting factories to manufacture on behalf for them.

"Have you asked Manager Fu? Did he agree?" Feng Yu had a headache.

"I had asked Manager Fu, and he told me to get your opinion." Fu Guangzheng also thinks that Jackie Chan was a suitable celebrity to endorse this product. Furthermore, 4.5 million RMB was way cheaper than his standard fees in Hong Kong.

But Fu Guangzheng knew about Feng Yu's skills in choosing celebrities as brand ambassador. Just look at the spokesperson for bladeless fans and the humidifiers.

This was why even though Fu Guangzheng felt that Jackie Chan was a good choice, he did not agree immediately. What if Feng Yu had someone cheaper and more effective in mind?

"Manager Duan, have you considered that our factory is now manufacturing Super Learning Machine and also Aiwa Learning Machine? The sales now are almost matching to our production speed. What if the Super Learning Machine sales increase sharply after Jackie Chan's endorsement and our production cannot keep up?"

"We have a lot of small electronic factories around us. We can hire them as contractors."

Sure enough, this was the usual solution.

"Can we acquire some of these factories? It is better for us to manage the factories ourselves than hiring them. Discuss with Manager Fu and think of a solution."

Damn. If Jackie Chan were to endorse this product, then they must not get some other factories to manufacture this product!

Duan Yongping discussed with Fu Guangzheng. With the current funds, they have no problems acquiring a small factory. But it was too difficult to buy 2 factories. They could use the usual method, using advance payments from the distributors and use the money to acquire these factories. Once after the products were produced, then they can send it to the distributors. If the funds were still insufficient, they can hold back on the materials payment and even hold back the workers' wages.

Hold back the workers' wages? Fu Guangzheng and Feng Yu had the same view on this. No way! They can hold back the distributors and suppliers' payments and goods, but they must never hold back the workers' salaries!

After both had discussed, they contacted Feng Yu. Feng Yu also agreed with Fu Guangzheng's solution, which was getting a bank loan. The Little Tyrant must expand no matter what.

China's economy had been improving these few years, and the people's salaries had been increasing. Learning Machine sales will also become better. Coupled with Jackie Chan's endorsement, the sales will definitely increase sharply.

As the Learning Machine was getting popular, Wind and Rain VCD factory was completed, and production could start. However, Feng Yu does not have time to visit the factory as his exams were around the corner.

Paying attention in class paid off for Feng Yu. Although his teacher did not give any tips or told them which chapters to focus, Feng Yu was still able to answer all the questions in the exams.

Feng Yu had also done well for his Business Negotiations, an elective is chosen by him. Feng Yu had learned more negotiation techniques from this course.

Year One was over. But for Beijing University's students, it was not over yet. This was because Beijing University has a tradition. All the year one student need to go to the military for a stay-in 2 weeks military training.

This training does not only include marching. It includes survival in the wilderness, shooting, etc. training. No one can skip this training without special reasons!

Feng Yu was also interested in this training, and he did not make up any excuse to skip it.

……

"I know everyone here is smart and higher educated than me. But this is not the reason for all of you to be so laidback! You must know that all of you are reservist soldiers. If a war is to break out, all of you will have to go to war! Even now, there is a small-scale war going on in the southwest. A country without a strong army will not be a powerful country! Now we shall start your first training. Regardless of your gender, everyone has to do 100 push-ups!"

Huh?

All the students were stunned. 100 push-ups? This is military training? Do our soldiers all train this way?

Feng Yu knew that the officer was only scaring them. The officer will not force all of them to finish 100 push-ups. He just wanted the students to follow his orders. Furthermore, China was not involved in any major wars and had reduced the number of soldiers in his previous life.

Everybody got down onto the ground and start to push-ups. Feng Yu also noticed the officer was doing push-ups with the students!

"1, 2, 3…… 98, 99, 100!"

The officer stood up sweating. But some of the students were already sitting on the ground, and some were lying flat. All of them could not feel their arms!

Feng Yu was considered quite fit. But after 50 push-ups, he also laid on the ground to rest. Damn, why this officer did not ask them to stop? Could it be that he really wanted everybody to finish 100 push-ups?

"All of you must complete. The ones who had finish can rest for a while. We will be doing squat jumps in a while. This training will end once everyone completed the jumps. If anyone cannot finish this training by noon, then there will be no lunch for all of you! Continue!"

Wtf? We are also not professional soldiers. Is there a need to train us so hard?

Feng Yu clenched his teeth and continued. He was the second person in the cohort to finish. The first person was a guy from the farms. His arms were thicker than many girls' thighs. Feng Yu was full of respect for this guy. He was farming and studying at the same time, and he still managed to get a place in Beijing University!

For the next few days, the training was tough. Feng Yu had regretted his decision to join this training. He should have used some medical excuses to skip these training. He should get some medical conditions that allow him to skip the training for the next 4 years! How can a multi-billionaire be training under the sun?!

It was July, and the skies were clear. Feng Yu felt that he had become darker these few days. Ahhhh……. My beautiful complexion……

Feng Yu also noticed that the officer was giving him weird looks.

Damn, in this era, there should not be those "special activities" happening in an army camp.

……

"Today the training will be firearms shooting. We will be shooting rifles and pistols. Who thinks he can shoot well and want to try first?"

Some of the students raised their hands. Feng Yu's eyes sparkled. Hmph, I had even driven a tank in the Soviet Union. I am surely better than the other students.

Furthermore, the first ones to will get to shoot more rounds than the rest.

"Fine, the few of you come forward! Have you ever fired a gun before?"

All of them nodded. Feng Yu was feeling proud in his heart. These people should have only fired hunting rifles. I had shot the Soviet army's weapons. Those weapons were total on another scale!

Type 81 assault rifle, China's most classic gun. Feng Yu held the rifle in his hands and check the magazine. It was all blanks. This was the only practice and was afraid that the students will get hurt.

When all of them got into the prone shooting position, the officer was staring at Feng Yu. This student's movements were precise. He still knows how to check the magazine. Could any of his family members were in the military and had taught him? Or could he have received training in the military before?

China at this time had the most soldiers in the world. Even at Beijing University, many of the students' parents are full-time soldiers.

There was a benefit growing up in a military family. Kids could learn to shoot with firearms since young.

Bang, bang, bang……

The students took turns to shoot. The target was close, and all of Feng Yu's rounds hit the target. One of the bullets even hit the bullseye!

When the results were announced, Feng Yu found out that out of the 7 students who had shot, he was only in fourth place. 39 points. Feng Yu was quite satisfied with this result. What type of monsters are those top 3 places?

Those 2 of the 3 students had grown up in the military camps, and the other was from a hunter family. All of them had been playing with firearms since young. Even the ones that scored lower than Feng Yu had fired a lot of rounds in their life.

Feng Yu had only hunted a few times and had played with guns in the Soviet Union once. He was able to get this score because of luck.

"Good! Li Yong, Zhao Gang, Wang Qiang, and Feng Yu's movements are very accurate. The other 3 students had made many mistakes. Now, I will demonstrate the precise movements. Pay attention. You will have to do 10 squat jumps with the rifle over your head for any rounds that did not hit the target. You will be given 3 rounds each later. I do not want to see any of you doing squat jumps later!"

Although someone was teaching the students, this was the first time for most of the students. Half an hour later, the area outside the range was full of jumping frogs!

Feng Yu and the remaining few were looking at the others doing jumps.

"The 7 of you will fire 3 rounds each. If you get lesser than 24 points, for every point, it will be 10 jumps!"

Damn, the officer was obviously targeting them!

As such, Feng Yu also became a frog. He was not as lucky as the first time.

……

The 2 weeks training was over in no time. On the last day, Feng Yu and some students were called to the officer's office.

Feng Yu looked around, and those that were called to the office were the ones that had performed well during this training. Could the officer want to give them medals for their performances? If he had gotten some commendations from the army, his parents would be thrilled.

"The few of you are the scholars from Beijing University. In the future, all of you will be making significant contributions to our nation. But there are also many ways to contribute to the country. Have all of you ever consider joining the army?

Huh? Join the military?

Feng Yu immediately shook his head. If he had wanted to join, he would have joined when he graduated from high school. He could still receive special treatment. Now, he had already entered Beijing University. Who would be so stupid to join?

"Sir, are you serious? But I have not even graduated yet. How can I join?"

Damn, there was indeed someone that was willing to join! Feng Yu looked around and saw that it was the student whose arms were thicker than a girl's thigh who had asked.

"There are two ways for you to join. First, you can transfer to the military university. You will be at least a Second lieutenant platoon leader when you graduate! The second way is to disrupt your current studies and enter the army for 3 years. After 3 years, you can return choose to remain in the army or return to school. You will also have the opportunity to be promoted to the Second lieutenant! Who wants to be a soldier? Brotherhood! You will never get to experience this elsewhere. If you are a soldier, not only you can get to play with guns, you can still drive tanks, fly planes, fire cannons, etc."

Feng Yu was cursing in his heart. Carry on bragging……. Some of the soldiers were rearing pigs for years!

The officer was very disappointed when he saw only 2 people hesitating. The rest rejected him flatly. He was very disappointed when he saw Feng Yu turning down his offer without even considering. Most of the graduates from Beijing University will be government officials, and they were not interested in becoming soldiers. Why was it so hard to recruit some educated soldiers?

When Feng Yu left the training camp, he felt that he was returned. He had finally completed the training!

Feng Yu was wondering about his company. Was the VCD players introduced into the market? How were the sales?

On 1st July, many advertising slots on CCTV's channels were changed to Wind and Rain VCD players and Aiwa VCD players commercials.

All the viewers felt that these commercials were entertaining. A small VCD was placed into a player, and clear videos were played on the TV. It was just like Video Cassette players.

The most surprising part that wow the audiences was the VCD. It was much smaller than Video Cassette Tapes and LaserDisc, and the image was clearer than cassette tapes, and the quality was almost on par as LD.

The VCD could be stored in a small box for easy storage. The audiences also noticed that there was karaoke function in the VCD player.

Sun Nan and Na Ying were happily singing along to their song, and their Music Videos was playing on the screen.

Wind and Rain VCD's advertising slogan was: Wind and Rain Electronics, Technology can change our lives.

Aiwa VCD's advertising slogan was: Aiwa Electronics, Master of Core Technologies.

These two brands were both promoting similar products and gave the feeling that these two were rival brands. Although there were many advertisements, there were not a lot of people who had bought the VCD players.

Two weeks after the launch of the VCD player, Feng Yu knew that no distributors that had placed orders for next month. The market's response was not as enthusiastic as he expected.

Feng Yu was very curious. Could it be that the VCD was introduced earlier than it was supposed to be and that's why no one was interested in this product? In his previous life, only about 10,000 units were sold by Wan Yan VCD player in the first year, when they launch this VCD player. Most of these players were bought by other electronic companies to research on it. VCD players became popular was also after 3 to 4 years!

Among those companies that had bought the VCD players, Japanese were the first ones who managed to break the code and had applied for the patent. They had snatched the profits away. But it was still the same. Japan had not applied for a license in China, and this was why there were still many companies competing in China.

Wan Yan was soon beaten by its competitors in China. Among these Chinese companies, Shinco and Aiduo VCD players were the more prominent ones. They were also out of this industry due to the introduction of DVD. The main reason was that these two companies did not know how to upgrade their technologies.

Based on history, VCD players should be introduced into the market next year, and there were only about 10,000 units sold. After that, the sales will increase rapidly and, in a few years, later, it will replace the traditional video cassette players. Feng Yu felt that his commercials were shot well, and the marketing was aggressive. He also had engaged celebrities to endorse his products. How come the sales was not picking up?

It seems that it would be good if 10,000 units were sold in the first month. But just the Wind and Rain VCD players, the monthly production was about 50,000 units. There will be too many units left in the warehouse. He might even have to stop the production.

The marketing was not enough? Do the consumers still do not know about the benefits of this VCD technology? Feng Yu wondered if those distributors had promoted these players based on the right selling points? They should be selling these players to those video lounges. These places were the first few that had bought VCD players in his previous life.

Feng Yu called Fu Guangzheng. Fu Guangzheng was relived. Feng Yu had finally appeared. These VCD players were not selling as they had expected.

Fu Guangzheng had wanted to discuss with Feng Yu if they should also advertise overseas to generate interest and at the same time, lower the production rates of their factories. They should at least not make losses now.

……

"Could it be that we had positioned our products wrongly? We position out VCD players as karaoke machines. But in fact, this is a new type of video players." Jian Wanmeng asked.

Feng Yu slapped his forehead. Maybe he had made a mistake. Feng Yu knew how to position his products. The families overseas placed particular emphasis on family values. It was because most people were not living with their families. It was only on weekends when they have family gatherings.

This VCD player can be sold as a family cinema!

It was cheaper than LD, and the pictures were clearer than Video cassette players. The VCD was also smaller than LD and Cassette tapes. This should be the selling point.

Should a commercial about the comparison between VCD and Videocassette tapes picture quality be filmed? Or a comparison between the size of VCD and LD?

"Brother Fu, how can we let others know about the benefits of our products fast?" Feng Yu asked Fu Guangzheng.

Fu Guangzheng was surprised. All this while, Feng Yu was the one making all the decisions. This was the first time Feng Yu was asking him for advice. He was feeling proud. The Fu family have several ways to market products.

"The fastest way will be aggressive marketing. But we have already placed several advertisements on CCTV, and although the number of advertisements is not a lot, it can be considered sufficient. If possible, change the primetime advertisement slots of Wind and Rain Super fans, and Aiwa Walkman advertisements with the VCD players' slots."

"No problem. I will speak to CCTV tomorrow." Feng Yu nodded. Since these were all his products, it was normal to switch the commercials about. Anyway, these products were all from the same brand.

"Actually, the fastest way for a new electronic product to be accepted by the consumers is to let the rest of the players in the electronics industry to accept this product and make they praise the benefits of the product."

"Let our competitors praise us? How can this be possible?" Jiang Wanmeng frowned. Who would praise their competitors? If it was him, he would never do that.

Feng Yu suddenly ask: "What if the reporters filmed them praising or surprised unknowingly by reporters? Or we can force them to praise us?"

"Brother Feng, you have an idea?" Fu Guangzheng looked at Feng Yu. Feng Yu could think of a solution so fast?

"What do you think if we organize an exhibition? We can also showcase our products in some overseas exhibitions."

"Exhibition? There are no exhibitions relating to this industry overseas. But there is some in China. However, the scale is not big and could not attract those big brands from overseas." Jiang Wanmeng was more familiar with this industry. He had attended some related products exhibitions in China more than once.

Feng Yu smiled and said: "If there are no exhibitions, then we can organize one ourselves. Brother Fu, can you invite some electronics brands from Europe, the US, and Asia to participate in it? It would be best if you can get some big brands. I will liaise with Japan and Eastern Europe. Manager Jiang, you will invite those electronic companies in China."

If Feng Yu were to invite the Japanese companies through Aiwa, those companies would most likely participate. For Eastern Europe, he can get Kirilenko to help. Kirilenko will not reject doing Feng Yu this favor.

With the domestic companies, there will be more than 100 companies participating. It does not matter if the company was big or small. Most importantly, there must have enough participants.

Huh? Such a big scale and there were still oversea companies participating? This can be on a national level scale, and it should be reported on CCTV news.

The exhibition can be held at Bing City. Maybe the City will provide the venue free of charge. The exhibition booths could be rented out, and this was a profitable business.

But when Feng Yu suggested Bing City, Fu Guangzheng shook his head. He felt that there were only 3 places that were suitable. Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. Bing City was too out of place, and its development could not be compared to the other 3 cities.

Feng Yu had also considered about this. But he felt that this would be the fastest way for Bing City's development. If it was Beijing, Shanghai or Shenzhen, he would still have to deal with the government. It would be best if the government were one of the organizers for this exhibition. This would increase the quality of the exhibition.

If it was Bing City, he only needs to tell Zhang Ruiqiang about the benefits of organizing this exhibition, and he will support him. The other cities might not be so supportive. Furthermore, this was an excellent opportunity to promote Bing City.

The three of them settled on the venue, and they started to invite the participants. Feng Yu had also returned to Bing City on the very day to persuade Zhang Ruiqiang……

"What? You want to host an electronics appliances exhibition? An international exhibition?"

"No, it is the City or the Province that is organizing. If you are about to use our country's name for this exhibition, it would be better."

"What is the use of this?" Zhang Ruiqiang looked at Feng Yu. Was this rascal thinking of using the City to help him advertise his products?

"Promote our city. Think about this. Many companies from overseas and other provinces will be coming to Bing City. This is a great opportunity."

"Great opportunity?" Zhang Ruiqiang looked at Feng Yu with slanted eyes. He felt that this was not as simple as what Feng Yu said.

"Of course. Now, the companies that have agreed to participate in this exhibition are Japan's Sony, Panasonic, Aiwa, Toshiba, Fujitsu, etc. There is also TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited), Acer, etc. from Taiwan. The companies from the US are…… These are all the top international electronics brands in the world. With these brands participating in this exhibition, how grand do you think it will be?"

Zhang Ruiqiang was stunned. Although he had not heard of most of the brands mentioned by Feng Yu, he had heard of Sony and Panasonic. These were all MNC, and Feng Yu could invite them?

These Japanese companies had no intention to participate in the first place when they received Aiwa's invitation. But Heitaro Nakajima announced on their TV program that his company had developed a new product which will be introduced into the market soon. He claims that this product will change the future and Aiwa will be way ahead of the other Japanese electronics companies.

This was too arrogant and attracted the fury of the other companies. Sony and the rest of the companies were also curious about VCD technology. Was it really as good as what Heitaro Nakajima claims?

Another reason why the companies had agreed to participate was to showcase how advanced Japanese products were. They want to show the Chinese that the Japanese were the smartest people on earth. The products they produced are the best in the world.

At the same time, they want to promote their brands and products, and also break the Chinese confidence. They can also take the opportunity to penetrate into the Chinese market. This was killing many birds with one stone!

This was especially so when the Japanese companies had that the big brands from Europe and the US will be participating. They want to see the technologies from these companies and let these western companies know how great Japanese products were!

So, arrogant Japanese agreed to participate in this exhibition.

Fu Guangzheng then told those Western companies that the top Japanese companies will be participating in this exhibition. Don't you want to attend? Western brands saw that Sony had agreed to join and confirmed that this exhibition's level was not low. Furthermore, this was an opportunity for them to enter the Chinese market. There were more than 1 billion Chinese, and this was a huge market.

Within 5 days, more than 50 companies responded to the invitations and had agreed to participate. They will also be arriving at the venue earlier.

"Leader, this will be China's most successful industrial exhibition ever organized. If this exhibition is successful, we can carry on organizing it next year and make it into a brand. This will be helpful for Bing City's development. Think about it, those big companies coming to our city and they will see our traffic conditions, industrial developments, etc. These companies might invest in some factories or our local companies."

"Is this really this simple?" Zhang Ruiqiang dare not to believe Feng Yu. The picture Feng Yu painted was too beautiful.

"Of course it is simple. Furthermore, even if these companies did not invest in factories here, they will also be bringing a lot of people here. The city can also earn from the food, lodging, traffic, etc. Also, the exhibition venue's booth will not be free for them to use. They will need to rent those booths. This rental will also be a sum of money." Feng Yu start to entice Zhang Ruiqiang.

"But our Bing City does not have such a big venue to host this exhibition. You said that there will be more than 100 companies participating? If one exhibition booth is 5 SQM, then the venue will need at least 1,000 Sqm if you include the walkways. Where can we find such a big space?" Zhang Ruiqiang frowned.

He was already interested in this exhibition, but Bing City does not have such a big convention hall. How can they host this exhibition?

Feng Yu sighed. The Bing City now still does not have an Exhibition Center. Hosting such a big exhibition will be hard. The only solution now was to build a shed over a football field. But this will be too low class and will affect Bing City's image. It will also affect China's reputation.

Secretary Liu just happened to enter the office with Feng Yu's tea, and he hesitated for a while before saying: "Leader, I knew a place that is big enough to host this exhibition."

"You know? Where is it?"

"At the Dongli area, there is a newly constructed mall. There are 5 stories and have more than 500 Sqm on every floor. Now, the construction has just been completed, and it is not in operations. It should be enough. But that is considered the Provincial Government's assets."

Zhang Ruiqiang was overjoyed: "I will settle that! Help me get all the City's leaders here. We will have a meeting in 30 minutes. Also, get the leaders from the China Investment Promotion Agency, Ministry of Urban-Rural Development, Police Department, Ministry of Environment, Foreign Trades here for the meeting."

"Wait, Mayor Zhang, there should be no need for Ministry of Urban-Rural Development. Bing City Pharmaceutical's subsidiary Real Estate Developments is also good with renovations. We can let them set up the venue." Feng Yu stopped Zhang Ruiqiang's secretary.

Zhang Ruiqiang shook his head: "You will not miss any chance to make money. Fine. Don't notify the Ministry of Urban-Rural Development. Go and call them. tell them that I will punish whoever that is late!"

Zhang Ruiqiang asked Feng Yu a few more questions like which countries were participating and if any countries had bad relationships with China. Was there anything he needs to look out for, etc.

Feng Yu was sweating. He did not know that it was so troublesome to organize an exhibition. Luckily, he did not try to hold the exhibition himself, or he might get into trouble.

The ground floor will be empty, and the 2nd to 5th floors will be the exhibition areas for the companies. Feng Yu reserved the best location near the stairs for his companies. The remaining booths will be arranged after the representatives from the companies arrived.

Feng Yu's request to hang banners was rejected by Zhang Ruiqiang. If you start to hang banners, then the rest will follow. The exhibition will be very messy.

Feng Yu felt it was a pity. But it should not be a problem if he were to sponsor two huge balloons, like lanterns, outside the entrance. It's free and has a festive feel.

"No banners!"

"No problem." Feng Yu replied immediately.

Does he need to hang banners? He can just print Wind and Rain's logo on the balloons. This should be considered home ground advantage.

Oh yes, red carpet should be laid at the entrance leading to the exhibition hall, and there will be rolls of flower baskets beside. This will make the place look better. I will also sponsor that.

Not allowed to print wordings on the carpet? No problem. I also do not want people stepping all over my companies' brands.

No one had said anything about not allowing wordings to be on the flower baskets. The company that oversaw setting up the venue belongs to Bing City Pharmaceutical Corporation. Do they dare to go against Feng Yu, their deputy General Manager's orders?

Hmmm… must get them to make sure that Aiwa, Wind, and Rain, etc. booths were setups differently from the rest. Our booths must leave a deep impression with the visitors and prominent.

Zhang Ruiqiang left for the meeting, and Feng Yu returned to Tai Hua Trading to prepare for their booths……

"Welcome to China's first International Consumer Electronics Exhibition at Bing city!"

"Best wishes for a successful exhibition!"

"We welcome all the distinguish guests from every companies and country!"

"Learn through experience, build a strong China together!"

……

Feng Yu was driving the first Songjiang saloon car from the Motor Company to the exhibition venue. Along the road, there were lots of banners.

At every traffic junction, there were traffic police directing the traffic. The streets were cleaner than usual. There were also some roads that were closed. All these show how important this exhibition was to the City!

Actually, it was not only the City. Even the Provincial Government was monitoring this exhibition closely. There were also some leaders from the Ministerial level calling to make sure Bing City do a good job. Bing City must showcase China to the world, and there must not be any incidents that will tarnish China's reputation!

Feng Yu was not pleased. You had hung so many banners, but you do not let me hang a few. Furthermore, didn't I offer to sponsor all the banners? This Old Zhang was too stingy!

Look at all these banners. This was a waste. How useful were these slogans? You should at least state which company or agency sponsored this banner. This was also a form of promotion for the City's companies.

Hmmm… What a waste!

Feng Yu was sighing while diving and this made the person sitting at the back unhappy!

"Feng Yu, can you drive properly? Why are you shaking your head?!" Zhang Ruiqiang scolded.

Actually, Zhang Ruiqiang was supposed to be sitting in his own car, but Feng Yu dragged him away from his car. Feng Yu told him that the Motor Company first "Concept car" was ready and he should experience it.

Although Zhang Ruiqiang does not know what a concept car was, he still boarded Feng Yu's unlicensed vehicle. He wants to know what sort of car Feng Yu manufactured behind closed doors!

The design of this car was sleek and in shiny black paint. The car feels heavy and has a grand presence. It looks better than his Audi 100. The seats were leather, and the interior was spacious. It was very comfortable, and the front seats could still move in 4 directions.

This car was very stable and not much noise could be heard. The windows were auto, and it looked at a luxury car.

Zhang Ruiqiang asked about the cost of building this car.

Feng Yu's answer made Zhang Ruiqiang frowned. What? The cost of this car was 3000,000 RMB? How much will this car be sold for? 400,000 or 500,000 RMB? How many people can afford this?

Feng Yu explained to Zhang Ruiqang that this car was only a concept car and will not be mass produced. All the parts used were the best. When this model was to mass-produced, there will many be many changes. For example, the interior fittings and the engine's capacity will be changed. The cost will be controlled within 100,000 RMB, and the retail price will not be more than 200,000 RMB.

200,000 RMB? 200,000 RMB was also too expensive! How much does a Santana cost?

Feng Yu continued. If the tires, lights, batteries, etc. were changed, then the cost can be lowered to less than 80,000 RMB. The retail price will be about 120,000 RMB, and it will be just enough to compete with Santana!

Also, this car's fuel consumption was much better than Santana. It uses turbocharged technology and even the cheapest model, it will still be more powerful than Santana!

The engine and turbocharged technologies were from Bing City's Aviation Factory. The engineer who had designed this was an aviation engineer. This fuel saving technology was the most advanced in China and among one of the tops in the whole world. But it was a pity that in his past life, no luxurious cars were manufactured using this technology.

"Leader, what do you think of this car? Have you ever consider changing all the government's cars?" Feng Yu asked. He had finally shown his motive of dragging Zhang Ruiqiang onto his car.

"Stop the car. I want to alight!" Zhang Ruiqiang was furious. He knew that Feng Yu was up to no good when he offered to send him to the exhibition! When the Motor Company launched its motorcycles, Feng Yu asked the City's traffic and police department to purchase a batch of motorcycles. Zhang Ruiqiang did not think much of it as the cost of the motorcycles were not high and it could help the city in regulating the streets. The police also needed these vehicles to maintain law and order. The city also had enough funds to purchase those motorcycles.

But now, Feng Yu was targeting the City Government's cars. The city had just changed their vehicles a few years ago. How can they change it again so soon? Although the City Government have more funds now, and there were a lot of agencies requesting for vehicles, Zhang Ruiqiang felt that they should not be wasting their funds on these things. The City's development should come first!

"Eh, Leader, why do you want to stop? Brother Liu, you should also persuade your leader. How can he work when he is so impatient?"

Secretary Liu looked down and dare not to say a word. You are close to the leader, and you can joke with him. I am only his new secretary. Please do not get me into trouble.

"Are you worried that no one is buying your cars?" Zhang Ruiqiang frowned and ignored Feng Yu. He already used to Feng Yu's way of talking.

"Stop joking. Since when did you see any of my products not selling well? Those small factories in the city also depend on Tai Hua Trading's exports to survive. I am only making a suggestion. In the future, if the city wants to change cars, don't go to First Automobile Works. You should let our own people earn this money. Yes, I will also give you some discounts."

"Then you will have to wait for a while. The City will not be changing vehicles these two years!" Zhang Ruiqiang wanted Feng Yu to stop thinking of selling his cars to the City Government. The City should not waste its funds!

There were many cities and provinces mayors and deputy mayors who were traveling in imported Audi 200 cars which were released last year. But in Bing City, only the Party Secretary owns one. Zhang Ruiqiang was still using the Audi 100. Who else would dare to request for Audi 200?

The government agencies in Bing City can only use Santana and Xiali cars. Those unit leaders were traveling using vans manufactured by the Aviation Factory.

Feng Yu smiled. This was not up to you to decide. When the Provincial Leader changed his car, all of you will also have to change. The agencies below will constantly request the leaders to replace all the vehicles. Even if you do not want to change, will the Party Secretary also think the same?

When all the government departments in China had changed their vehicles, will Bing city change? If the rest of the cities in Longjiang province change their cars, will you be about to withstand the pressure? Others will be saying that you are seeking praise. You will also have no choice!

Feng Yu did not say all these out. Nothing good will happen even when he says all these to Zhang Ruiqiang now.

"Leader, then tell me what you think of this Motor Company's car? Are the exterior design and the engine performance better than Santana?" Feng Yu asked proudly.

"Santana is very durable. What about this car?"

"The chassis and frame are all using the technologies from the former Soviet Union. Although Soviet cars are lacking in many areas, they still have their plus points, which was the best in the world. Their cars seldom break down. Even when the car has some minor issues, the car can still move."

As for the engine, it was using the technologies from Bing City's Aviation Factory. The suspensions and low noise technologies were developed from the Motor Company. It seems that the suspensions were doing well.

The Motor Company had compared this car and Santana. Their vehicle had beat Santana in all areas. Some of the specs were even better than Audi 100. But they were not sure if the cheapest model of this car could still be better than Santana and Audi.

The traffic was smooth, and soon they arrived at the entrance of the exhibition venue. Feng Yu parked his car beside the red carpet. Secretary Liu immediately alighted from the car to open the door for Zhang Ruiqiang.

After Zhang Ruiqiang alighted, Secretary Liu closed the door and waved the car away.

Bing City has never been so bustling with life in its history. Representatives of more than 200 companies from both local and overseas were in the lobby of the exhibition venue. About half of these companies were local. Multiple languages could be heard in the hall, and there were not enough translators from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The city still has to bring in many students, teachers, and professors to work as translators.

While walking on the red carpet, Zhang Ruiqiang saw the rolls of flower baskets lining up by the side. Wind and Rain's logo was printed on them. He looked up and saw two big balloons in the form of lanterns. Wind and Rain logo was also printed on it!

Zhang Ruiqiang knew that brat would not be so kind to sponsor so many things. Although he had tried his best to stop Feng Yu from doing these, Feng Yu was still able to get the chance to advertise his brand!

Oh shit. It was the Pharmaceutical Corporation's subsidiary that had set up the exhibition venue. Could it be that the exhibition halls were also like this? If it was, then it must be removed immediately. This was a national level exhibition. Does that brat think that this was his company's exhibition?

When Feng Yu was about to park his car, he noticed that there were no available lots. There was a large empty space for vehicles, but it was full. There were lots of taxis parked there too. Many foreigners had booked those taxis, and those taxis were parked there waiting for their guests.

Those taxi drivers knew each other and were gathering together, smoking and chatting.

"Eh, what is this consumer electronics thing?"

"Country bumpkin, you don't even know about consumer electronics? It is semiconductors and digital parts!" Another driver said proudly.

"Huh? Why are they organizing such a huge event for those things? Not only our City Mayor is here for a speech, and there are still so many foreigners from so many countries. Sigh….. the guest I am ferrying is from the Soviet Union. No….. is from Russia. What about you? Where is your guest from?"

"Mine is from England."

"My guest is from France."

"Mine is from the US. Old Liu, why are you keeping quiet?"

"I am ferrying a Japanese!" Old Liu bowed down his head in shame.

"You ferry a Japanese guest? Go away. Don't smoke with us!"

"But I only know that he is a Japanese after I picked him up. That Japanese can speak Chinese."

"Then stop ferrying him!"

"But I had taken his money. I will not pick up tomorrow!" Old Liu beat his chest.

"Sirs, can you move your vehicles slightly to let me park my car here?" Mistake. I should have reserved a lot for myself.

"Eh, what is the brand of your car? It looks familiar, but I have never seen this model before. Also, why there is no registration plate on your car? You better drive your car away before the traffic police come and impound your car!"

Eh? Traffic Police?

Feng Yu slapped his forehead: "Thanks. I will leave now."

Feng Yu drove up to traffic police and wind down the window: "The Mayor had come here in this car. Where is the lot reserved for the Mayor's car?"

"This is the Mayor's car?" The Traffic Police was suspicious. Don't all the City Government top officials use Audi 100? Furthermore, this vehicle also does not have a registration plate.

"This is our Motor Company's newly manufactured car. The Mayor is just supporting the local industries. Hurry up, I still need to pass the Mayor's script to him." Feng Yu said impatiently.

"Eh, you go in that direction and turn left. The lots reserved for the City's officials are there. There are still a lot of lots there." The Traffic Police said politely.

Feng Yu pressed a button and drove towards the carpark. The Traffic Police was in awe. This car was gorgeous and advanced. The windows could be wound up by pressing a button. Only the Mayor has the privilege of sitting in this car!

After parking the car, Feng Yu walked to the exhibition hall. It was very quiet. He looked around, and it was full of people. There were at least 1,000 people there! Luckily there were no exhibition booths on the ground floor. Otherwise, it will not fit everybody. Even the rostrum was placed on the stairs.

Zhang Ruiqiang was standing on the rostrum, giving a speech. There was two officers from the City beside him translating to Russian and English. Those officials were excited. It was because they knew foreign languages and they get to stand beside the Mayor on such an important event.

"This is our Bing City's glory, our Longjiang Province's glory, and China's glory!" Zhang Ruiqiang waved his hand when he said this. The audience cheered and applauded.

The applause continued after the Russian translation. It was the same for the English translation.

Feng Yu was among the crowd and saw some small build men showing unhappiness. From their attire and hairstyle, Feng Yu could tell that they were Japanese. It seems that they were unhappy that there were no Japanese translators. So what if they were not happy with this arrangement? Who asked the Japanese to be so unpopular?

Zhang Ruiqiang continued to introduce the layout of the exhibition hall, like the category of products on each floor, and also where to get help from the staff. If any contracts have to be signed, where the photocopier machines were located.

When the Japanese heard this, they had a proud look on their faces. They had arrived 2 days before and had seen that those printers and photocopier machines were Japanese products. Even the sound systems in the exhibition were from Japan. China can't even manufacture these things, and yet they want to organize a consumer electronics exhibition?

This was an opportunity for the Japanese to showcase their products. They could show the Chinese and those westerners how strong Japan was in consumer electronics!

Zhang Ruiqiang continued with his speech and requested all the participants to abide by the rules. He ended his speech by thanking all the participants and wish the exhibition success.

Zhang Ruiqiang's speech was concise. Feng Yu had reminded him about this. These people were not here to listen to his speech. They were here to showcase their products and interact with others from the same industry. If his speech were too long, the crowd would be impatient, and he would be embarrassed.

After the applause, the firecrackers were lit outside. Actually, someone from the City suggested arranging for Lion and Dragon dance performances. Zhang Ruiqiang asked Feng Yu if overseas exhibitions had ever done anything like this. Feng Yu was shocked.

Dragon dance? Luckily no one had suggested Chinese Folk songs!

Feng Yu thought for a while and felt that it was okay to have or do without. But the opening ceremony should not be too long. This Lion and Dragon Dance performances can be saved for the closing ceremony. Provided that all the participants had not left yet.

The rostrum was removed, and everybody went upstairs orderly. Actually, there were some staffs still in their respective booths. If all of them were on the ground floor, it would be too crowded!

Zhang Ruiqiang accompanied by the exhibition staffs toured the exhibition halls and visited every booth. There were also some government officials from smaller countries there. They were there to see if there were any opportunities to cooperate with Bing City.

Feng Yu went to a corner and took an exhibition brochure. He looked at the brochure and smiled. The City Leaders will never expect that he would advertise on the brochure when he offered to sponsor the printing of the brochures. Everyone who had taken a brochure would see pictures of Wind and Rain, and Aiwa's VCD players in color!

I had never made losses when I do any sponsorship!

Zhang Ruiqiang walked around the exhibition, and his brows were tightly knitted together. How come the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors were like this?

He had noticed that this was an exhibition hosted in China, but all the Chinese booths were not as well located as the foreign companies' booths. All the foreign companies' booths were well decorated and huge. Those Chinese companies' booths were small and unnoticeable.

It seems that only Feng Yu's companies were the only Chinese companies that were nicely decorated. But why did Feng Yu get so many girls in Cheongsams standing in his booths?

"Leader, look at my booths. What do you think of the decorations? Don't you think that these are attractive? I had said that those companies' booth locations are not good, and they still got angry with me." Feng Yu suddenly appear beside Zhang Ruiqiang and said proudly.

"Where are these girls from? Your company?"

"They are from Beijing Teaching University. Just like the ones welcoming the guests at the entrance. 10 RMB a day and lunch are provided. Many had wanted to come, but the slots are full." Feng Yu was feeling regrettable. In this era, he could not get girls in swimsuits to be standing at his booths attracting a crowd. If he were to do that, he would be arrested on the spot!

Zhang Ruiqiang shook his head. Feng Yu was full of ideas. But he felt that these were all unorthodox ideas! You should be attracting crowds with your products and not by young women!

"Leader, have you noticed anything problems? Look at how those foreigners' set up their booths and how they display their products. Look at what our China companies are doing. They do not have many products on display, and many of these companies' products are all the same. Even the technologies used are the same."

"Sigh…. Our country's consumer electronics have a huge gap to fill." Zhang Ruiqiang sighed.

"That might not be the case. Maybe we can be better than them in certain products just like this VCD player. This is something that the other countries does not have, and it will create a huge amount of profits and bring in lots of foreign currencies!"

"This thing is really that good?"

"Of course. If you don't believe me, I can demonstrate to you."

Zhang Ruiqiang was dragged to Tai Hua Trading's booth. There were only a few foreigners there and not much crowd.

But when people noticed Zhang Ruiqiang walking into the booth, the crowd start to grow. Not only the Chinese likes to follow the group, but those foreigners also like to do this too.

In about one minute, when Feng Yu was still setting up the VCD player, the crowd grew to a few dozens, and it was still growing.

Zhang Ruiqiang started to regret coming to Tai Hua Trading's booth, and he should not even sit there. He was tricked by this brat again. Feng Yu was making use of him to attract people!

Feng Yu took out a disc and showed it to the crowd before placing it into the VCD player. Soon images appeared on the TV, and it was Elvis Presley performing.

The image was very clear, and the sound quality was excellent. There were no lags, and the crowd was surprised.

The image quality was almost as good as LaserDisc, but it was a compact disc.

The Chinese had seen it on the commercials, but not a lot of people had bought it. There were also not a lot of people purchasing video cassette players in China as it was too expensive. There were still many families in China that do not have a TV.

Actually, LaserDisc was also not selling in China. Even in the West, the sales were not doing well. Only Japan and Southeast Asia were selling well. The biggest manufacturer of LaserDisc was Japan.

From the lack of pirated LaserDisc in China, one could tell that this product has no market here.

"Our VCD player will soon replace LD players and the Video cassette players. It can be used as a Karaoke machine and video players."

"Nonsenses!" Feng Yu was still speaking in front of the VCD player telling the crowd about the features when he was interrupted by an angry voice! The accent was also peculiar.

The representative from Pioneer Corporation squeezed himself through the crowd and stood in front of Feng Yu. He said in an agitated tone: "Our LD can store 100 minutes of the movie and uses laser technologies to record. Both sides can be read, and the image and audio are clearer. How can our LD be replaced by such products?"

Feng Yu lowered his head and glanced at the representative from Pioneer Corporation. Ha, 1.6m tall even after wearing shoes? I am 1.8m. Don't your neck feel tired standing so close to me?

Speaking down to others will have felt more powerful! Since you are asking for it, then don't blame me for using your products for comparison.

"Really? Then is our image and audio not clear enough? Yes, our technologies now only store 60 minutes of video but this is enough for those ordinary music videos. One movie only uses 2 VCD. Oh, our VCD is only selling at 10 RMB a piece. Which is about 2 USD. Can I ask you how much is one LD selling for? 40 USD or 30 USD? I heard that it is selling for about 20 USD in some places. The money uses to buy one LD can buy 10 VCD."

The crowd starts to talk among themselves. A video player cannot be used to watch only one movie. It was the disc that's important and most sought after by the consumers.

One cost at least 20 USD and the other was less than 2 USD. Which will the consumers pick? Even morons will know that if there were not much difference in the quality, they would choose the cheaper ones.

"Here, this is your company's LD, and this is our VCD. The storage for your LD is enough to store 8 VCD." Feng Yu took out 2 boxes and placed the Discs on the table to show everybody.

"Furthermore, the prices for LD players in the market is above 1,300 USD, but our VCD player is selling for about 1,000 USD! Look at the size difference between the LD player and our VCD player. Which one will you buy?"

"Even if your product can replace LD, but how can you replace Videocassettes? Videocassettes are the mainstream, and the prices for a video cassette is only a few USD." Someone from the crowd shouted.

The representative from Pioneer Corporation was still thinking how to refute Feng Yu when he heard this person asking. He kept quiet. Although he knew Chinese, it was still tough for him to argue with others in Chinese.

"Good question. I shall tell all of you why this VCD will replace cassette tapes. Look at this video. It is Elvis Presley's music video." Feng Yu took a microphone and plugged it into the VCD player and pressed a button. Elvis' voice disappeared, but the music was still going on.

Feng Yu sang a few lines along with the music. His singing was terrible, but he had proved his point.

"See this? This can still be used as a Karaoke machine. We will be introducing a large variety of this karaoke VCD. No matter if you want to sing or listen to music, this would be the right player for you. Look at the image. It is much clearer than video cassette tapes, and you will not face the problem of your tapes getting stuck in the player. There is another benefit to our VCD. The space of two videotapes is more than 8 VCDs. Normal video cassette players are selling from 900 USD to 1,500 USD. We have the same advantage!"

"Do you have available stocks now? I want to buy 2!" Someone arranged by Feng Yu shouted.

This reminded the rest in the crowd. They also want to get two units back to research on it. If they were able to figure out the technology in it, they could also produce VCD.

"I shall trouble you with this, Master Lu. We shall have a chat when I am back in Beijing." Feng Yu hanged up the phone with a smile.

Just the exhibition alone was not enough. The exhibition had given those foreign brands a chance to showcase their latest technologies. For China companies, other than The Little Tyrant and Wind and Rain brand, no other companies could stand out.

Feng Yu had wanted to see if he had missed out any gems. But China's consumer electronics were too far behind other countries.

The closing ceremony's performances were canceled. Those foreign companies had taken all the limelight, and we still must perform for them?

During the exhibition, the VCD, regardless of Wind and Rain brand or Aiwa brand, had attracted the attention of all the foreign companies. Feng Yu hired someone to write an article about this VCD.

This article was handed over to Master Lu for him to send to all the mainstream newspapers, like . This was the first time China's consumer electronics overtake the rest of the world. They should be proud and flaunt this to everyone.

Feng Yu had also sought the help of Kirilenko and Fu Guangzheng to use their connections with the overseas media to report on this VCD and China's consumer electronics.

After these articles were published, lots of media paid close attention to this exhibition. Some of the foreign media had not attended this exhibition but had also written some articles regarding this exhibition.

The reports were divided into 3 perspectives. One faction said that the article that was published earlier was fake. China had been closed off to the world for so long, and their consumer electronics technologies could not be the best in the world. China must have used Aiwa's technology and claimed to be theirs. This technology was invented by the Japanese.

These types of reports were mainly from England, Japan, Europe, and Southeast Asia's media.

There was another faction that agreed with the earlier article. It states that China was up and rising, and China had a huge population. It would be a matter of time before China will take over the world. These articles were mainly talking about China's threat to the world. These reports were primarily from the US media.

The last group of reports was congratulating China catching up with the rest of the world. These media were from those former Soviet Union countries and other countries that had good relationships with China. Of course, the Chinese press were the most supportive.

The strategy of using media to market their products was thought up by Feng Yu and Fu Guangzheng. They want people to believe that VCD technology will bring the world to the next era.

Coupled with aggressive advertising, they will be able to open up a market for VCD.

Fu Guangzheng told Feng Yu that advertising might help their products' sales in the in the initial phase, but it will not let the sales grow steadily. The Fu Family had lots of experience in this area.

For example, the Learning Machine. Although the sales might seem fine for now, the overseas market's sales were starting to shrink after the initial spike.

The Chinese market might still be growing, but there were talks that this Learning Machine was only a video game console disguised as a computer.

The Fu Family had conducted market research. If the VCD were to replace video cassette players and LD players to become the consumer's family movie systems, it might take 2 to 3 years.

This was why Fu Guangzheng warned Feng Yu to not increase the production of the VCD players. If things were not going well, their products would fill up their warehouses in no time with the current production rate.

But luckily for them, although the sales of the VCD was not as good as they expected, it was still enough for them to break even and occupy the market. This was also a good thing.

Feng Yu knew that he was not a sales genius. He was able to come up with so many sales ideas and knew which products could make money, was because of his memories from his previous life.

Feng Yu's memories do not include the process of how those people make money. He only knew which products would be popular and can make money. This was why he tried his best to keep all the founders of the companies, whenever he takeover or invest in those companies.

It seems that Feng Yu was conceited. He had believed too much on his memories from his previous life and had been changing history. He kept introducing products earlier than it was supposed to be. He had forgotten about the timings and the consumer's spending power.

This resulted in Feng Yu got to think of ways to market and push the sales of these supposedly popular products.

The exhibition had ended. Wind and Rain and Aiwa VCD players' sales were much lower than what Feng Yu had expected.

Those companies' representatives knew that the VCD technologies patent were in the hands of Tai Hua Trading and had authorized Aiwa to use the patents. Japanese media had also found out that Aiwa and Wind and Rain's major shareholder were the same people!

That means the VCD technologies were in the hands of one person. Many people went up to Feng Yu, wanting to get the patent authorization to develop this market together.

But Feng Yu rejected them without any hesitation!

Although with more brands, this market will be developed faster. But it will also lower his profits. Those companies' technologies were more advanced than Wind and Rain, and Aiwa. Their brands were also more well-known than Wind and Rain. If these companies were able to develop better products, like DVD, then VCD will be replaced by DVD before it was able to flourish. This was not something Feng Yu wanted to see.

Because Feng Yu did not want to authorize other companies and had established the sales distribution channels, he cannot let those companies be the distributors for Wind and Rain VCD or Aiwa VCD. If he did that, he would breach the contract with the Fu family. Tai Hua Trading was in-charge of China's internal distribution, while the Fu Family was in-charge of the overseas distribution.

The Fu Family was very grateful that Feng Yu did this. The was the opportunity for Feng Yu to kick the Fu Family aside, but Feng Yu did not do that.

Fu Rongjing was the only one that did not think this way. He felt that his son, Fu Guangzheng had helped Feng Yu too much. The Motor Company's new factory construction, Aiwa electronics, Wind and Rain electronics factories were all taken care of by Fu Guangzheng. Feng Yu was the one that needed Fu Guangzheng and cannot do without the Fu family's management team.

Fu Rongjing had hinted to Fu Guangzheng that Feng Yu needed him, and he should have asked for more shares several times. He does not need to take the shares for free. He can pay for those shares. Fu Rongjing was willing to pay the market rate.

But Fu Guangzheng rejected this suggestion. He understands Feng Yu's character well. Feng Yu looks like he was a generous person, but in reality, he was very stingy. If he made this request to Feng Yu, it would be best if Feng Yu agrees. But what would he do if Feng Yu disagree? Withdraw from all these companies?

Although Feng Yu would suffer huge losses if Fu Guangzheng withdraws from those companies. But it will not hurt Feng Yu. Feng Yu can just let the middle management staffs take over the crucial roles in the company, while he poaches people from other companies with high salaries. Fu Guangzheng will be the one that will lose the opportunity to follow Feng Yu to make money. He will be at the losing end.

Fu Rongqi also felt this way. He reminded Fu Guangzheng to try and build a closer relationship with Feng Yu.

Feng Yu looked at the August VCD sales report. It was not up to his expectation. He can't help but sigh. He had taken a step too big…. He had shot himself in his foot!

"Eh? Lao Si, don't you have a mobile phone? Why are you writing letters?" The Lao San at the dormitory asked.

Feng Yu replied casually: "Oh, I have a pen pal."

Penpal was the trendiest way to make new friends for the youngsters in that era. Feng Yu was also not someone that casually befriend pen pals. This pen pal was also not for his business.

He was writing this letter to her. The 'her' from his previous life.

Zhou Kexin of Jiangcheng District. She had just entered high school this year, and her hobbies were reading the newspaper. Her ambition was to be a reporter.

Today when Zhou Kexin arrived at school, she saw an envelope pasted on the reception room's window. The letter was addressed to her.

"Grandpa Li, I am here to collect my letter. My name is Zhou Kexin, from Year 1 class 3."

"Not bad, little girl. You have relative studying at Beijing University. Are you also going to enter that university? You have to work hard. It is not easy to enter Beijing University." Old Li took the letter and passed to Zhou Kexin.

Zhou Kexin smiled and thanked him.

When she saw the envelope, she understands why Grandpa Li said that. This letter was sent from Beijing University! But none of her friends and relatives were in Beijing. Who sent her this letter?

Until Zhou Kexin reached home, she had not read the letter yet. She was afraid that someone else would see it. After finishing her homework, she secretly took out the letter when she was about to sleep. With a touch light, she hid under her blanket to read it.

This was a letter to befriend her. This person wants to be her pen pal.

Pen pals started from those youngsters who had gone to the cities or returned back to the villages. This was their way of communicating with their former friends. Many places in China still do not have access to telephones, and even if there were phone lines, the charges were costly. Letters were the cheapest way for them to communicate.

When it started, letters and postcards were sent to and fro between childhood sweethearts. Soon letters were sent between friends. These letters were mainly talking about their recent events, etc.

Most pen pals were girls. Maybe it was because girls like to pour their sorrows to strangers and they seek comfort.

Zhou Kexin had wanted a pen pal long time ago, but she did not know who to write to. Her classmates had written letters to other people, but after a semester, there were no replies. Not everybody likes to have pen pals.

This person was studying at Beijing University. How come he knew her contact information? There was also a Jackie Chan postcard along with the letter. How come this person knows that she likes Jackie Chan? Maybe Jackie Chan was a famous celebrity, and everyone in China loves him.

In the letter, he wrote about how beautiful Beijing University was. But he mentioned that the girls at Beijing University were ordinary looking. He concludes that smart girls are not pretty!

He also mentioned that he wanted to visit Jiangcheng district. He heard that Jiangzheng district was a beautiful place, but he never got the opportunity. He was also not good at swimming and wonder if he would drown if he goes to Jiangcheng.

Zhou Kexin read the letter thrice. The way this person wrote the letter was interesting. Smart girls are not pretty, that means he was implying that smart girls are ugly? Also, Jiangcheng district was only named as Jiangcheng, and it was not really built on the river. How can he drown?

In the letter, nothing was mentioned about how this person got to know her contact details and why he was writing to her. Only some trivial matters about his school life were mentioned, and he hopes Zhou Kexin would reply to him. He signed off the letter as "Second most handsome person on earth," and there was a cute drawing of himself.

The second most handsome person on earth? Who would use this as his pen name? This person was not humble, but he seems interesting.

In this era, the pen names used by most people were trying to express how pure and elegant they were. Examples of such names were Snow, Winter Plum or New Moon. This was the first time she heard of someone using "Second most handsome person on earth" as pen name!

This "Second most handsome person on earth" wants to be my pen pal? This letter was sent from Beijing University and this "Second most handsome person on earth" must be studying there!

But this person was a bit…… too mischievous and not modest at all!

No matter what, this was Zhou Kexin's first pen pal's letter, and she was overjoyed. She read the letter several times more until she could almost memorize the letter before she put it under her pillow. She fell asleep with a sweet smile.

When Zhou Kexin woke up the next day, she lifted her pillow and saw her letter was still there. She was relieved. This was real and not a dream. She really has a pen pal now!

Although this 'Second most handsome person on earth' pen name was weird, his handwriting was beautiful, and the stories were interesting and humorous. Most importantly, he was studying at Beijing University!

During breakfast, Zhou Kexin's mother asked her why she was smiling to herself. Zhou Kexin made up an excuse that she was the only one who had answered a question in class correctly yesterday. Her mother still praised her.

On the way to school, Zhou Kexin kept smiling. Even during her lesson, she was still thinking about the contents of the letter.

At noon, when all of her classmates went out for lunch, she remained in class to draft a reply letter in her notebook.

After she had finished writing, she read it several times and made some amendments. She copied the contents onto a sheet of paper and folded it carefully and kept it in between a book.

"Kexin, the school's over. Why are you not going back?"

"You go back first. I have to pass something to the teacher." Zhou Kexin made up some excuse. She does not want others to know about her pen pal, even when this was her childhood friend. This was her personal secret.

"Shall I wait for you?"

"No need. You go back first. I will go back alone later. Anyway, the skies turn dark later during this period."

"Okay then. Be careful. I will go off first. Bye."

Zhou Kexin waited for about 10 minutes before she carried her bag and got onto her bicycle. She was not heading towards the direction of her house. She was heading towards the direction of the post office.

The post office was closed, but the small shop opposite was still opened. This small shop also sells stamps and envelopes.

Zhou Kexin wrote the address on the envelope and 'Second most handsome person on earth' as the recipient. The boss of the small shop looked at Zhou Kexin and her envelope. 'Second most handsome person on earth'…… Who the hell calls himself this name?

The boss thought for a while and realized that this was a pen name. But for someone to use such pen name, he must be not highly educated and does not know what modesty was. Wait, the address was Beijing University? Hmm…… this pen name was still quite modest. At least he does not claim to be the most handsome person on earth!

Zhou Kexin carefully places her letter into the envelop and use glue to stick the stamp and seal it. She carefully blows the glue dry and used her hands to straighten out the folds. She happily dropped the letter into the post box. She can't wait for the postman to deliver her letter to Beijing, into the hands of 'Second most handsome person on earth.'

……

"Eh, who do you think this shameless person is? He calls himself 'Second most handsome person on earth.'"

"That's right. Could this be a prank or this letter is wrongly delivered?"

"Cannot be. This handwriting must be a girl. Will girls play a prank on others? Furthermore, this is Beijing University. The address is correct."

"Then you tell me which girl will call herself 'Third ugliest person on earth'?"

When Feng Yu reached the classroom, he heard the conversation between Tian Lei and the rest. Was this letter really a prank? Feng Yu also wanted to laugh. But when he heard Second most handsome person on earth, he remembered that it was his pen name.

"Cough. Class monitor Tian, that letter is addressed to me."

Everyone turned and look at Feng Yu like he was a monkey in the zoo.

"What's wrong? I cannot use this pen name?" Feng Yu barked. These people do not understand his humor!

"Pen name? This is your pen pal's reply letter?" Tian Lei waved the letter and asked.

If this letter were not addressed to their class, Tian Lei would not collect it. He remembered the teacher's look when he received this letter from the office. The teacher looked at him as if this was his letter.

But it was normal for the teacher to suspect this letter was Tian Lei. Tian Lei was the class monitor, and all the letters for his class will be collected by him. The teacher felt that Tian Lei would use this pen name because the rest of the students in the class will not get to see it.

Tian Lei never expect this letter was for Feng Yu. Feng Yu also did not consider whether this pen name can be accepted by his classmates.

Feng Yu snatched the letter from Tian Lei and stuffed it into his pocket: "What? All of you do not have pen pals before?"

"We have, but we have never used such arrogant pen name. Come and tell us. You claim to be the second most handsome person on earth, who is the most handsome person on earth?" Dormitory's Lao San (number 3) teased.

Feng Yu puff out his chest and tilted his head up 45 degrees towards the sky and said 2 words: "My dad!"

The classmates surrounding him: "……"

"Err….. Lao Si (Number 4), is your whole family so confident?" Tian Lei could not help but ask.

Feng Yu rolled his eyes and walked to a corner to open the envelope.

"Jiangcheng's weather is hot and stuffy…… My language teacher's voice sounds like a chicken, and whenever he speaks, all my classmates laugh……. My Math teacher is bald and once in class, he scratched his head, and his wig fell off……"

Zhou Kexin's letter was all about the funny things that happened in her school, and in the end, she mentioned something that was bothering her. She wanted to go to universities in big cities like Beijing or Shanghai. But her parents do not allow her to go. They only want her to attend the university in Jiangcheng. If she cannot make it into this university, then she will have to take over her mother's position in the company. She asked Feng Yu what she should do.

Feng Yu smiled. Her parents were only just saying this. She will get a place in a university in Shanghai, and her parents agreed to let her study there. They can't be stopping her from studying at a university. This silly girl. She was still so innocent.

It was during the lesson, and Feng Yu suddenly laughed.

The old professor in front looked at Feng Yu annoyed: "That student. Stand up. Is my lesson so funny?"

Feng Yu was still in a daze and Lao San (number 3), who was sitting near him, threw a pencil at him. He suddenly realized that the professor was talking to him.

"Professor Li, what is your question again?" Feng Yu asked with a blank look.

"I am asking you if you think that my lessons are funny?!" Professor Li asked slowly. His expression had also told Feng Yu that if his reply were 'yes,' he would be torn to pieces!

"No."

"No? Then why are you laughing?!" Professor Li asked angrily.

This Feng Yu thought that he could do anything he wants in school just because he had donated some research funds to the school? This is Beijing University, China's top University. Countless people are queuing to enter. He should be studying hard!

This Professor Li was a senior professor and will be retiring in 2 years. He does not conduct any research now and does not need Feng Yu's funding. He also does not smoke or drink. Other than teaching, he does not have any other hobbies. He was the only teacher Feng Yu could not bribe.

Professor Li seems to have only two sets of Chinese tunic suit. He wears them every day in all seasons. His hair was always combed, and his leather shoes were always shiny. You can never see a single wrinkle on his pants. Feng Yu had heard that Professor Li likes poetry and he had given him a few poetry books. But these books were all returned to Feng Yu.

Feng Yu knew Professor Li's way of teaching and he immediately bow down his head and admit his fault: "I am sorry. Professor Li."

"Sit down. Your parents had sent all of you to Beijing University was for you to learn. It is to prepare all of you to serve our nation and have a brighter future. If you do not do well in school, how can you answer to your parents and our country?"

When Professor Li was scolding Feng Yu, he also takes the opportunity to tell the rest of the students off. He turned back to the blackboard and starts to write something, continuing with the lesson.

Feng Yu saw Professor Li was not looking at him anymore, he secretly took out a stack of papers to write the reply letter.

Feng Yu understood Zhou Kexin really well and knew what types of jokes she likes. He wrote some jokes taken from the internet in his previous life and some greetings. After he had finished, he folded the letter carefully and placed it into an envelope he prepared earlier.

……

Zhou Kexin had thought why she had not received any replies these few nights. The postage service was too slow, or 'Second most handsome person on earth' did not send any replies to her?

She would take particular notice at the reception office's window whenever she walks past. She was looking for her letter, but she was disappointed every time.

Finally, she saw a letter addressed to her pasted on the window one day. This feeling was like her mother giving her the dress she was hoping for when she was young.

She immediately ran into the office to collect the letter she was looking forward to.

During lessons, she tried her best to not open the letter immediately. She managed to resist the temptation of reading the letter and returned home after school. After dinner, she did not even watch her favorite programs on TV and returned to her room. She told her mother that she needs to do her homework.

Zhou Kexin took out the letter from her bag after locking the door. As she was too anxious, she tore part of the letter when she was opening the envelope. Her tears almost fell. She carefully unfolds the letter and starts reading it under her table lamp.

Two jokes were written in the letter, and she got to bite her fingers to stop her from laughing out loud. She was afraid that her parents would find out. Her parents must not know about her pen pal!

The letter was too short. There were only a few hundred words. She read the letter twice before keeping it in a box underneath her bed. In the box, there was the first letter.

She took the opportunity to write the reply. It seems that writing this reply letter was easier than writing her school's essays. In 30 minutes, she had written two pages.

After some amendments and rewriting it neatly on a new piece of paper, she carefully places it into the envelope she had prepared. On her way to school tomorrow morning, she will drop it into the post box.

After keeping everything, she looks at the wall clock. Oh no, she still had not started on her homework. She tips toe to the door and unlocks it silently before settling into her desk to start on her homework.

Zhou Kexin's mother was about to go to bed, and she went to check on her daughter. She was glad that her daughter was working hard: "You are still studying? Sleep early. You still have school tomorrow."

"Yes, mum. You sleep first. I will be finishing soon."

Zhou Kexin saw her mum closed the door. She sticks out her tongue and continues doing her homework. She was smiling happily to herself……

The third woman in Feng Yu's life has finally appeared. At least Feng Yu was not that heartless to forget about his wife from his previous life. But he was still unfair to Li Na. He should not have gone after Li Na in the first place. Elena was only making use of him to have a better life, so she does not count. If you are Feng Yu, what would you do and who would you choose? Li Na, Elena, Zhou Kexin or all of the above?

It was the end of October. Feng Yu was about to start preparing for the New Year's award ceremony when he received a call from Jian Wanmeng. There were pirated VCDs in the market.

The VCD technologies were not that difficult. Those companies that manufacture CDs could quickly figure out the technology behind the VCD. They could also produce VCDs. The cost of a VCD was not high and was about 1 RMB. A movie consists of A and B VCDs. If you include the packaging and transportation, the total cost was still less than 3 RMB.

The original VCDs prices were set by Wind and Rain. It costs from 10 RMB to 30 RMB. Those movies which cost 10 RMB were old movies or old music videos. The 30 RMB VCDs were all new movies and songs. This 30 RMB pricetag will slowly decline as time passes.

No matter whether it's 10 RMB or 30 RMB VCDs, the profits of the VCD companies were about the same. Feng Yu thought that others will not enter this market so fast.

After all, Wind and Rain, and Aiwa were all producing VCDs. The VCDs were sold in all of their VCD players retailers. Those that buy VCD players will also need to buy some VCDs.

Feng Yu had made precautions against other companies copying the VCD players, but he did not take any precautions against pirated VCDs. Those 5 RMB VCDs were not different from those originals.

Those small video lounges tried to keep their cost low as they only charge their customers 0.5 RMB per person. They were the ones that supported these pirated VCDs.

Feng Yu had asked his staff to promote the VCD at those video lounges, and this led to those businessmen noticing this business opportunity.

Feng Yu went to the Audio and Video shops to have a feel of how serious this problem was.

"The world is leisurely passing hastily onwards, visitors passing by, tides rise and falls. Love and hate, life and death, old age, how many people can see through? Mundane world passing……"

At the Audio and Video shop, a huge speaker was blaring Sally Yeh's . This was the song that led Sally Yeh to the peak of her career. (Link to the song is in the Translator's notes)

Feng Yu saw many people walking in and out of the shop. Most people were still buying cassette tapes. Only some were holding CDs or VCDs when they walk out.

It seems that it will take a few years for compact discs to replace audio and video cassette tapes.

"What are you looking for? Come in and see. If you can't find what you are looking for, I can help. Our shop has everything. Even if our shop does not have what you want now, I can help you get it." The shop owner saw Feng Yu walking into his shop, and he went up to serve him. These privately-owned shops were more customer friendly than those operated by the government.

"Where are the VCDs?"

"It is on that shelf. This side is all the songs, and the other side is all the movies and dramas."

This young man is looking for VCDs. That means he has a VCD player at home. These VCDs are more expensive than cassette tapes. The shop owner could earn more, especially now his cost of the VCDs was much lower!

Feng Yu looked at the VCDs on the shelf. Some of the VCDs were concerts of Singers, and some were a mixture of songs. Feng Yu also does not know which of these were from the record label companies and which were pirated.

But when he saw a VCD which includes both Chinese and Cantonese songs, he knew immediately that this VCD was pirated. Those record companies will not produce VCD which have songs from both languages. When Feng Yu saw a VCD of Michael Jackson, he was sure that it was pirated too.

Michael Jackson had signed with Sony and would Sony sell the rights to Feng Yu? If it was other company's name that was printed on the cover, it might still be possible. But Wind and Rain brand were printed. This was impossible!

The pirated VCDs at this time was not as shoddy as the pirated VCDs in the future years. The packaging and quality were exactly the same as the originals. Once a shop sells pirated VCDs, it will never sell originals again. This was because the profits from selling pirated VCDs were higher than the originals. Feng Yu suspects that almost all the VCDs in this shop were pirated.

Feng Yu walked over to the other side of the shelf to look at the movie VCDs. There were movies from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the US. There were also some classic movies titles. All the VCDs were packaged nicely, and one could not tell whether it was pirated or original.

But Feng Yu knew clearly that there was something wrong with those VCDs. Should I use some laser anti-counterfeiting marks? But it seems that those marks can also be counterfeited. After all, these companies use laser technologies to record on these discs.

"Bro, have you make your choice?" The shop owner walked over and asked. A woman was sitting at the entrance. She might call the wife of the owner.

"How much for these two discs?"

"18 for one. If you are getting two, 35 RMB."

Feng Yu showed a troubled expression: "Can it be cheaper?"

"Sigh…… The cost is quite high. But since you are so interested, I will give you 2 RMB off. These two VCDs for 33 RMB. This is the lowest price I can give you." The shop owner replied.

"Don't try to hoodwink me. How come I heard other shops are all selling at 10 RMB a VCD?" Feng Yu was trying to find out the cost price.

"How can those quality be comparable to my discs? Look, all these are originals. The audio and picture quality will be much better than theirs. Fine. 2 for 30 RMB. This is my final price."

"Okay. I will take these two."

Feng Yu reached home and played one of the VCD. After looking at the image, he frowned.

The images and audio were very clear. This video was one of the videos which Feng Yu did not get the rights. If this VCD was produced by Sony themselves, it was still okay. It was tough for Sony to import these VCDs in large volumes into China. Even if Sony did it, it would also stimulate the VCD player's sales.

But this VCD was a Pirated Wind and Rain VCD.

Feng Yu called Fu Guangzheng to talk about this.

"Brother Feng, shouldn't we ignore them? Our VCDs sales are doing well, and when there are a lot of VCDs in the market, the sales of our VCD players will be better. When VCD players become as normal as TV, it will be one of the necessary home appliances. Furthermore, we still do not have the rights to a lot of the movies and songs. What if those consumers want to watch those?"

"Then we let this carry-on?" Feng Yu asked. Just last month, he had asked Hu Ge to stop making pirated video game cartridges since The Little Tyrant had stopped its game consoles production.

"Those are pirated VCDs. It will affect our profits. Do you know some of those pirated VCDs are selling more expensive than ours? They are also using our brands on those pirated VCDs. This will affect our branding. What if someone sues us and claims that we are the ones who produced these pirated VCDs?

Fu Guangzheng was shocked: "Are you trying to say that some big company is behind all these?"

"I saw a lot of Sony's movies and music VCDs. I feel that this is not so simple." Feng Yu suspects that this was a hole dug by Sony for them. When Sony sue them for copyrights infringements, he will have to take all the VCDs off the shelves for investigations. This will affect the VCD market!

Feng Yu starts to make phone calls to all his connections. He wants to know who was the one that is making all these pirated VCD under Wind and Rain brand!

The result of this investigation made Feng Yu furious!

There were more pirated VCDs in the cities than the originals. Many small factories were not only producing those normal pirated VCDs. They were also producing those European, Japanese and Hong Kong's adult movies!

Selling those movies were illegal, and Wind and Rain brand were still printed on the covers. Feng Yu could not tolerate this!

But Feng Yu knew that it was useless to just attack these small workshops and factories. Even if these factories close down, there will still be countless small workshops popping up. He must attack these pirates from the source. He must find the source of their master copies.

Feng Yu went to look for Hu Ge. This moron had owned a company making pirated game cartridges. After Feng Yu invested in his company, he quits making pirated games and switches to develop his own original games. But Feng Yu had thought too highly of Hu Ge's staffs. The games they made were far from the games Feng Yu played in his previous life. The graphics and designs were horrible. If this game were introduced into the market, their reputation would be gone!

Games development was not as easy as Feng Yu thinks.

Hu Ge knew a lot of pirated businessmen. He asked around and found out that there was a syndicate behind all these. Not only they were making pirated VCDs, but there were also pirated CDs, pirated video cassette tapes, cassettes, video game cartridges, etc.

A rough estimation, the sales of the pirated goods were several times more than the originals.

Not only the VCDs had Wind and Rain brand printed on it, the other pirated video, and audio cassette tapes and games were also under Wind and Rain brand. Feng Yu's companies do not even manufacture these products!

Damn, this was a conspiracy that was targeting him or his company.

Once the consumers think that these were really Wind and Rain products, then Wind and Rain will be a pirated goods company. All the efforts of building the brand will be wasted!

When Fu Guangzheng heard the news, he was very shocked. He knew there were many pirated goods in the market and there were also pirated VCD players. But he had ignored them.

He wanted to make use of these to build up the VCD market and challenge the traditional video cassette player. He had never expected this would create problems for himself.

"Brother Feng, should we make some formal complaints, give some money for the higher-ups to start cracking down on piracy?" The Chinese market was too big, and it was not like Hong Kong. They could not settle this by themselves. They need the government's help.

Feng Yu shook his head: "These people are able to do this on such scale, that means they have some sort of protection. What we can do not is to find the source. If not, their factories will still be appearing after we shut them down."

"I thought you had asked Hu Ge to investigate the source for you?"

Feng Yu sighed: "Don't mention him. That Hu Ge cannot resist the temptations and went back to make pirated games. I had already withdrawn my investment from his company, and Master Lu had got some people to teach him a lesson. Currently, he is hiding in some Southeast Asia country."

Master Lu thought Feng Yu had invested in Hu Ge's company because of him. Now, Hu Ge started making pirated games again, and he still tried to cheat Feng Yu. Master Lu felt that this was a slap to his face.

If it weren't for the Hu family, Master Lu would have broken one of Hu Ge's leg! Master Lu also let him off because of the information he got.

The source of the pirated discs was in Guancheng district of Guangdong province!

Fu Guangzheng felt embarrassed. There was a Wind and Rain electronics factory in Guancheng, and he did not even notice the pirated VCDs were from that area.

There were other factories all over China, but the master copies were said to be from Guangcheng. Those master copies were sent to Guangcheng from Hong Kong.

Feng Yu told Fu Guangzheng about this, and his face turned red: "Brother Feng, leave this to me. I will think of a way to kill the source!"

"Brother Fu, stopping piracy is only one of our aims. We must also find the mastermind behind this. We must know why they are using our Wind and Rain brand for their pirated goods!"

"Are you suspecting that someone is targeting us? We manufacture VCDs, and we are the biggest company making original VCDs. Those pirates like to make imitations from the number one company's products."

"But do they still need to use our brand for those adult movies? Anyway, Brother Fu, I hope the mastermind hiding in the dark will be arrested."

Fu Guangzheng arrived at Guancheng and asked the local government to close down the pirated VCDs base. The government raided that place and recovered a huge amount of pirated cassette tapes, videotapes, and discs. But they did not find out who the mastermind was. Every week, there will be someone coming to the factory with boxes to collect the money. The factory's in-charge had never met the boss behind the scenes.

But he had provided a crucial clue. The big boss behind the scenes was from Hong Kong.

Fu Guangzheng was furious. Someone dares to mess with the Fu family in Hong Kong? Those people that were powerful enough to compete with the Fu family will not do such business. Those that dealt with such activities were not from any reputable big families.

Fu Guangzheng told his uncles about this and asked them to help investigate the person behind this syndicate.

The Fu family was very unhappy. They had shares in Hong Kong's electronics sales company. This had encroached into their profits. A full investigation must be conducted!

The Fu family made use of all their connections and all their tricks, but they could not find out who was behind this. They managed to crush a few pirated factories in Hong Kong along the way, but the head of the syndicate was nowhere to be found.

The Fu family was embarrassed. They had told Feng Yu that they would be able to get the head of the syndicate and put him behind bars in a few days.

But now, more than 10 days had passed. There were no clues at all. The Fu family had used their connections in both the underworld and law enforcement units, but there were no clues at all.

In the end, Fu Rongqi put up a reward of 1 million HKD for any clues about the head of this syndicate. Even if you are only able to provide the name of this person, you can also get this sum of money. If you are able to capture this person, then you will get 1 million USD!

Someone will always step forward if there were high rewards.

Finally, the Fu family received information about this syndicate boss. Although no one had ever met him, someone had overheard his henchman speaking to this person over the phone. This person was addressed as Mr. Song!

Feng Yu frowned. Mr. Song? Did he ever offend any businessman with this surname? Why was this Mr. Song targeting him? This Mr. Song must have strong grudges against him!

Feng Yu thought for a long time, and it seems that there was only one person who hated him to the core and this person have the money to set up factories. But this person had gone missing a long time ago.

Feng Yu had asked the Fu family to search for this person for quite some time. But the Fu family could not find him. There were rumors that this person had only stopped in Hong Kong for a while before going to the US.

Could this person come back to revenge for his uncle?

Feng Yu had already experienced the craziness of this guy. If Feng Yu had the chance, he would not want this person to take another breath.

"Brother Fu, I will offer 10 million. Help me find this person!"

Fu Guangzheng was shocked. Who was this guy that's worth 10 million?

"I will hire people to look for him. If we are able to find him, then we can talk about the money! With the crackdowns on piracy recently, those pirates will not be so arrogant for some time. We can develop the market in peace."

Feng Yu sighed. That man is still alive, how can he be at ease?

Songjiang Motors had already developed 3 categories of vehicles with a total of 6 models. The 3 classes were named as Olympic, Red Star, and Off-road. The production had just started. As this was still in the starting phase, the output was not high, and the two new branch factories had only produced less than 1,000 vehicles for all 3 categories.

In China, the rest of the automobile enterprises knew that Bing City's Machinery Company will be introducing their cars soon and will be focusing on small vehicles. All of them felt that this was a joke.

A company that manufactures tractors and motorcycles want to produce saloon cars?

Bing City's Machinery Company was one of the top company in China for their tractors and motorcycles. With their sales and the quality of their products, they might even be the best in China.

But automobiles? Even if China's automobile industry was already matured, there were still many other established brands in the market. Songjiang Motors will have no chance to get a slice of this cake.

We are all using the advanced technologies from Germany, the US, and Japan. The production lines were also imported from overseas, and their experts were stationed here to give us guidance. What does Songjiang Motors have?

What? They had hired Soviet Union's automobile engineers?

What a joke. Since when did the Soviet Union produce good cars? The Soviet Union's cars were noisy, ugly and old fashion, and it was not comfortable to drive. In the recent few years, even China does not import these Soviet cars. Oh, it's the former Soviet Union.

The company that was most eager to see the Machinery Company fail was First Automobile Works in Jilin.

Bing City's Machinery Company had poached many staffs from them. Many of these staffs were from the technical department. FAW can still clearly remember how the Machinery Company set up recruitment booth outside their premises!

FAW wants to see how the consumers ignore the Machinery Company's cars and the Machinery Company had no choice but to sell off their factories and equipment. When that happens, they will buy over one or two factories to expand FAW. At the same time, they will poach all the staffs from the Machinery Company. Not only they will steal the technicians and experienced workers. Even those ordinary workers will be targeted. They want the Machinery Company to have no workers!

When everybody does not think Songjiang Motors will succeed, Feng Yu, Fu Guangzheng and the rest were feeling confident. They had tested those 6 models of vehicles. The price ranges from 120,000 RMB to 500,000 RMB. There was even a model of Diesel Off-road vehicle. Currently, in China, there were no other off-road vehicles that run on diesel.

But marketing these vehicles was the biggest headache for them.

Fu Guangzheng wanted to place advertisements on all media, especially CCTV. He also wanted to hire celebrities to endorse their cars. It would be best to organize a grand motor show. This will increase brand awareness.

The impression of Songjiang Motors among Chinese consumers were motorcycles. Most of the consumers will not dare to purchase their vehicles if they introduce their cars into the market. After all, there were other options like imported vehicles and domestic joint venture vehicles. These vehicles were of high quality and have after sales services. The Machinery Company does not have these.

Feng Yu had asked his men to do a rough estimation of the cost of setting up servicing centers in all provinces. It will cost over 100 million RMB! Unless Feng Yu could set up the service centers like the 4S shops of the future years, and charges higher than the market rates, he would not make money. He will even be making a loss.

But if there were no after-sales services, the consumers will get the impression of the company does not care about the after sales services and they will not be interested in their cars.

Also, the prices for their vehicles were too high, those motorcycle distributors do not have the ability to be the authorized retailers of these cars. Even if they were to bring in 2 vehicles for every model, it would cost them at least 2 million RMB. But as a retailer, how can they only bring in so few cars? They still have to bear the cost of rentals, wages, etc. It was tough for those distributors to incur all these costs.

Feng Yu had thought of all these problems before. His solution was to supply the cars to those long-time distributors first, and they were only required to place a 1 million deposit. But the sales proceeds of the vehicles have to be deposited into Tai Hua Trading's account. Tai Hua Trading will then settle the payments with the distributors. This was the sales model of those 4S shops.

Bing City's Machinery Company will also station a mechanic at every shop. The shops will need to hire two mechanics themselves. This should be sufficient for the time being. Songjiang Motors' vehicles were still very durable.

This will form the basic structure of the 4S shops model from Feng Yu's previous life. But this will also cause the Machinery factories to be locked up. There will be a considerable strain on the company's finance. Once the sales were not good, the Machinery Company will face cash flow problems. If this problem persisted, the vehicles' production might come to a halt.

But if the sales of the cars were good, this will create a sales distribution network fast and will increase the sales volume. Also, this will be easier than setting up retail shops themselves.

Li Mingde opposed to this solution. Look at First Automobile Works, Second Automobile Works, and the rest of China's automobile manufacturers. All of them have their own showrooms and sells all their vehicles by themselves. You are letting those distributors holding on to our cars. What if they disappear with our cars? With only 1 million RMB as a deposit, and you are allowing them to hold on to dozens of our vehicles? The cost of those vehicles was more than 2 million RMB. This was too high risk.

Li Mingde had opposed to Feng Yu's plans initially. China's automobile market was not a big market, and Feng Yu's plan was too large scale.

Although there were only two branch factories in operation, the construction for the rest of the factories was almost completing. The constructions will be completed early next year and will start productions. What if the vehicles' sales were not doing well?

Feng Yu smiled. He still has a second sales strategy which was the salesmen model.

In the US, door-to-door sales was a common sales model. A good salesman can earn as much as the top executives in those enterprises. The salesmen do not need to stock up on the goods. They only need to bring their clients to the factories to look at the products. It will be up to the clients to decide whether if they want to buy.

Of course, Feng Yu was not asking his salesmen to go to ordinary households to sell his cars. He wants them to visit all the government and government-related agencies.

If Feng Yu remembered correctly, next year would be the year that China's government increases their spending on cars. The Deputy Division head level officials were assigned a personal vehicle. In some regions, even the Section Head level got their own car!

There were many reasons for this. One of the reason was the government's 5-year plan. The officials need to attract foreign investors and foreign investments in their area will affect their chances of promotion. Another reason, there was a sudden increase in the domestic production of automobiles. These were those joint-ventured automobile companies' vehicles. The sudden increase caused the car prices to drop and at the same, the Chinese government's revenue increases. Many of the officials felt that it was the time to increase their benefits and welfare.

This was Songjiang Motors' opportunity to increase their brand awareness. Feng Yu had taken part in the design of the 6 models. He told Michael Liu how he wanted the vehicles to look like and Michael Liu and his team came out with the final design.

The 3 categories of vehicles were the traditional small saloon cars (Olympic), Luxury (Red Star) and SUV (Off-road).

The competitor for Songjiang Motors' small saloon cars was the Santana. The SUV's competitors were Jeep and Cherokee. The luxury cars' competitors were Mercedes and Audi!

Because of the sales of their vehicles, Feng Yu and Fu Guangzheng start to look for those officials that were close to them. They want to sell their cars to these top officials first, and their subordinates will tend to follow their leaders.

Feng Yu had picked CCTV as his first stop!

"Manager Feng, why are you so early today? The rehearsal for the programs has not started yet." A deputy director saw Feng Yu and warmly greet him.

The success of last year's New Year's Eve Awards Ceremony and Gala dinner had led to CCTV receiving praises from the higher-ups. As for the slogans and chants from the live audiences had also captured the attention of the viewers. The viewers felt these slogans and cheers were very interesting.

This year, CCTV had contacted the association before the association starts planning. CCTV wanted to ask if the association would be organizing the awards ceremony this year. The CCTV wants to make preparations.

This was an excellent advertising opportunity for Feng Yu and how could he miss it? Those companies that showed their faces during the awards ceremony knew the benefits of taking part in this award. Their sales had increased a lot after the ceremony last year. Look at Lehaha. After the awards ceremony was aired, their sales doubled!

Those companies who were nominated but did not win any awards last year went to visit the association. They wanted to win the award. There was a big difference between being nominated and winning. At least, the companies had one minute less to showcase their products!

This year, all these companies knew what to do. They were all prepared. During the ceremony, their staffs in the live audience will have placards and will shout out cheers. They want to take this opportunity to promote their companies.

This year's award ceremony's main sponsor was Feng Yu again. This year's stage and the performance line-ups were better than last year. There were more than 10 singers from Hong Kong and Taiwan approaching the association to express their intention of performing during the ceremony.

Those two singers who had performed last year were famous in China. Their income from their records and their product endorsements had increased significantly. Their charges had also doubled. How could the rest of the singers not be jealous?

With the experience from last year, organizing this year's ceremony was a piece of cake. Although this year Feng Yu had spent 1 million RMB more than last year, the companies that were nominated were all willing to pay money.

But those companies were disappointed. Feng Yu does not want to take their money! Feng Yu had already promoted his companies, and now, he wants to make this award fair. How can he receive money from those companies?

Last year, the association did not have enough money and need the support of the participating companies. This year, the association does not need money from those companies. The association had collected the membership fees from those companies, and the fees will fund this year's ceremony!

This was why Feng Yu was able to sponsor this event without spending too much. Not only the nominated companies and CCTV were happy, but even the top leader of the Publicity Department was also delighted. The higher-ups do not need to spend a single cent, and the viewers could still watch a wonderful program. This ceremony also helps the country show their recognition of the companies who had made significant contributions to the nation. The organizing committee and CCTV had done an excellent job!

Feng Yu was the representative of the organizing committee this year again. He was also the ceremony's Associate Producer. He was also considered a leader, and this was why the deputy director greeted him warmly.

"I heard that Station Chief Jia is here. I am looking for him."

"Oh, Chief Jia is over there. I will bring you over."

"Manager Feng, are you looking for me?" Chief Jia saw Feng Yu not leaving after greeting him, he knew Feng Yu wants to speak to him.

"I have some work-related matters to discuss with you."

The secretary left and closes the door after serving tea. Chief Jia slowly sip on his drink and asked: "Are you here to ask me about this year's advertisement slots auctions? There is nothing I can do. But since you are our biggest client, I guarantee that you will get the slots before and after the weather report."

This year, CCTV will be switching the advertisement slots tendering to auctions. This was already announced on TV, and next month it will be implemented. Chief Jia thought that Feng Yu wanted to pull strings to get the slots he wanted.

Feng Yu eyes lit up. Although he was paying close attention to this auction, he was not too worried. He knew which were the enterprises that would be spending a lot on advertisement slots. Even though he could not find out their budget, but he knew from his previous life how much these companies will pay.

Feng Yu was confident to win the slots. He also decided to not bid for the prime slots before and after the news blindly. Anyway, this year's auction consists of both blind and open auctions. Feng Yu could just buy out all the slots from the open auctions.

"Thank you, Chief Jia. But I am here today because of other matters."

"Other matters?" Chief Jia looked at Feng Yu puzzledly. Other than advertising slots, what other matters does he have?

"I heard that CCTV will be obsoleting a batch of vehicles."

"You want to buy second-hand cars? I can't help much. These cars will be distributed to the departments below." Chief Jia frowned. Feng Yu wants to buy second-hand cars? He wants to buy these cars for his staffs?

Feng Yu was speechless. Who the hell wants those old and wear out second-hand cars? Those were old models of Santana. What do you want me to do with these antique cars? Put it in a museum?

"You misunderstood me. I do not want to buy second-hand cars. I am asking if CCTV have any special requirements for purchasing new cars?"

"What? You have cars to sell to us? But we do not have the intention of buying imported cars. We are CCTV and can only purchase domestically produced cars."

"The cars I am recommending are all locally manufactured, and these are the best cars produced in China."

"What cars are you talking about? Santana or Audi 100?" Among China produced cars, these two brands were more famous, and the quality was better. These two brands of cars were the top choices for government agencies.

Like a magician, Feng Yu took out a colored brochure from his bag and passed it to Chief Jia: "Please take a look. Songjiang Motors cars. These are the real locally manufactured cars. It is not from joint-ventured companies. This is China's own brand. It uses modified technologies from the former Soviet Union. The quality and designs are the best in China. This model is specially designed for executives. The interior is spacious, and the seats are as comfortable as a sofa. Also, this model is selling the same price as Santana, but it is better. This model's performance can even rival Audi 200, but the selling price is about the same as the Audi 100. The exterior looks grander."

Feng Yu pointed to the pictures in the brochure and starts to talk about the features of the different models. Of course, there were also shortcomings, but Feng Yu was not that stupid to point out all the shortcomings to him.

Station Chief Jia must admit that the cars in the pictures were stunning. But isn't this Songjiang Motors a motorcycle manufacturer? Since when did it start to manufacture cars?

"Is this Songjiang Motors cars from that……"

"Bing City Machinery Company."

"That's right. Bing City Machinery Company is the company that manufactures these cars? You are saying that these cars are 100% China produced?"

"Yes. Although a bit of the share is owned by a Hong Kong businessman, Hong Kong is also part of China. As the national TV station of China, shouldn't you support our own Chinese brands? If you look outside on the streets now, all you can see is those foreign brands. If you do not support Chinese brands, do you think you will see Chinese cars in the future?" Feng Yu asked.

"Is the performance of your cars good? What are the prices?" Chief Jia was now promoted to Executive Deputy Station Chief. The Station Chief was also the Publicity Department Chief and was seldom in his CCTV's office. Chief Jia was the one handling almost all the matters at CCTV.

"If CCTV is willing to tell us some insider information about the advertisement slots auctions, then we will sell you all these cars at cost price. I will not make a single cent of profit from you!"

"Reveal the minimum bid? Impossible. However, due to your contributions to CCTV for the past two years, the most I can do is to let you win two bids secretly. I cannot reveal the rest of the minimum bids to you." Deputy Station Chief shook his head.

Feng Yu was slightly disappointed. This Chief Jia does not know how to be flexible? This will help CCTV save money. If CCTV got more profits from the advertising slots, he still has to hand over the money to his higher-ups.

After Feng Yu left, Chief Jia went to look for his higher-ups with the car brochures. In his heart, he was more inclined to Songjiang Motor's cars. But Bing City Machinery Company was not a state-owned enterprise like First Auto Works. FAW was a government supported vital enterprise. If Feng Yu's Machinery Company were state-owned, he would not have any hesitations.

"Old Jia, why are you thinking of buying this brand of cars? I have heard of this brand. This brand had advertised on CCTV previously, and Baldy Chen and Xhu Simao had starred in the commercials. But isn't this a Motorcycle brand? You dare to drive a car manufactured by a motorcycle manufacturer?" The Station Chief shook his head. He knew that Chief Jia and Feng Yu were close, but Chief Jia should not give Feng Yu special treatments on everything.

"There is a national level's inspection report at the back. In the report, the stats are comparable with the cars we are familiar with. Also, the higher-ups wanted us to lower our spending. It was not easy to get the approval from the Publicity Department, and the funds we have is insufficient to purchase the number of vehicles we needed. If there are cheap but high-quality cars, we can purchase more vehicles."

Station Chief frowned. This was indeed a problem. The money allocated to them was fixed. If there were able to purchase cheaper cars, then they will be able to get more vehicles. If they picked the more expensive brands, then they will have to make do with lesser cars.

The Station Chief looked at the pictures in the brochures. The design of the cars was beautiful and looks grand. The interior looks spacious, and it should be comfortable sitting in it. The brochure also claimed to have good suspensions and soundproofing. The only problem was the price of the cars was not stated in the brochure.

"We had discussed before, and we will be picking either Audi 200, Audi 100 or Santana. How good is this Songjiang Motor? Is it as good as what it claims in the brochure?" The Station Chief was worried. If he purchases a batch of lousy cars for the sake of saving money, he would be in trouble.

Feng Yu had already foreseen this problem. He had sent a batch of cars from Bing City to Beijing. These cars were parked outside the awards ceremony's studio.

Even if CCTV does not want to buy his cars, Feng Yu will also want those bosses and government officials attending the ceremony to see Songjiang Motors cars. He will also want his vehicles to be in the photos taken by the reporters.

"The cost of these cars is not more than 100,000 RMB. you can let the driver test drive it. The performance is definitely better than Santana."

An engineer from the Machinery Company introduced his cars proudly. This Olympic model is the most basic model. The cost was not more than 90,000 RMB, but Feng Yu had instructed him to say the cost was not more than 100,000 RMB.

The drivers looked at their leaders and went to test drive the cars. When they returned, they nodded to the leaders excitedly. It felt excellent to drive this car. The suspensions and soundproofing were much better than Santana, and the exterior looks grand.

"The cost for this model is about 200,0000 RMB. This model is designed for executives and businessmen. The features of this model are the spacious interiors, high body, and the larger passengers' seats. It is incredibly comfortable."

This time, Chief Jia boarded the car and sat in the passenger's seat. He wanted to experience this "Red Star" model himself.

Feng Yu also followed along to show Chief Jia how to adjust the seats and showed him how to lower a tray in front of him. This was designed like the food trays in the airplanes.

Before Chief Jia could explore all the features in the car, his driver turned and told him that they had already driven one round around the premises.

So fast? Chief Jia could not feel any bumps or hear any noise. The interior was very quiet. The side windows were tinted, and from outside, one could not see the interior unless the person stick his face really close to the windows. Chief Jia was extremely pleased with this.

"This is Songjiang Off-road. This car is an SUV and is suitable of all sort of terrains in the rural regions. It uses a diesel engine, and it has a lot of horsepowers. It is suitable for all sorts of road conditions. Your staff can drive this car to villages when they need to interview those villagers. This car is very useful."

There were 3 categories for the Songjiang Motor's Olympic model, 1 for Red Star and 2 types of Songjiang Off-Road model (Diesel and Petrol models). Feng Yu explained all the 6 different types of cars from the 3 models to Chief Jia. The team leader of the drivers and the rest of the drivers looked at Chief Jia and nodded.

These drivers were the drivers for the leaders and staffs. All of them felt that this Songjiang brand of cars was really as what it was stated in the brochure.

The prices were also lower than Audi and Santana. The price of Luxurious Category of an Olympic model for CCTV was 350,000 RMB, and the performance was better than Audi 200. It was more than 100,000 RMB cheaper than an imported Audi 200. An Audi 200 cost about 500,000 RMB.

The mid-range Olympic model cost 200,000 RMB, and the performance was much better than Audi 100. Audi 100 cost about 350,000 RMB, and it was still a locally produced joint-ventured car!

Songjiang's lowest range of Olympic model cost 100,000 RMB. It was cheaper than Santana which cost 120,000 RMB. The exterior and interior designs, performance and the price were better. The only thing Santana was better than Songjiang was the brand.

There was nothing Feng Yu could do with this. Songjiang Motor's brand was indeed the worst automobile brand in China. It could not be compared to those joint-ventured automobile brands, Shanghai Motors, and Red Flag Motors.

But now, Shanghai Motors and Red Flag Motors had stopped production. Shanghai was now producing Santana under the Volvo brand. The Red Flag Motors was now only manufacturing Audi 100. They were able to sell off all their cars as most of the government agencies were using this model.

Earlier this year, after Audi 200 was imported into China, Audi 100 was allowed to be sold to individuals. In the past, no one except for government agencies could purchase a brand new Audi 100. They could only buy second-hand Audi 100.

Feng Yu looked at Chief Jia and shouted: "Our Songjiang Motors is indeed a new brand, but we are China's only National automobile brand. Are our cars' quality, prices, and designs not better than those joint-ventured cars? Just because our brand is not as famous as Audi and Santana, you want to purchase their vehicles? Do you know that those foreigners are taking our money away?"

Chief Jia waved his hands: "Manager Feng, you are too agitated. We have not made any decisions yet. I need to have a meeting with the rest first. We can talk about the details after we have come to a decision."

Anyway, CCTV needs to purchase a batch of vehicles, but CCTV needs to wait until they got the funds from the advertisement fees. The Publicity Department will not provide the funds for CCTV to purchase cars. The department does not even have enough vehicles for themselves.

After Chief Jia left, Feng Yu's agitated facial expression disappeared. He could still keep his emotions under control. He was not acting when he said all those things. He was really sad about China's current automobile industry. Those joint-ventured cars were doing harm to the industry!

"Engineer Wang, take a taxi back to the hotel. You have done well today. Remember to keep the pager assigned to you on at all times." Feng Yu gave Engineer Wang 20 RMB.

"Yes. I will leave now." Engineer Wang will not take a taxi. It was much cheaper to take public transports, and he would be able to keep the 20 RMB.

Chief Jia was persuaded. Now, Feng Yu need to wait for Master Lu to publish the article. With that article, there will be at least 80% chance that CCTV will procure Songjiang Motors cars. This will be the first step for Songjiang Motors to enter the Government Agencies!

The next morning, the Station Chief was still considering about Deputy Station Chief Jia's suggestion about purchasing Songjiang Motors vehicles when his secretary come into his office with the newspapers.

As usual, the first papers he read was the People's Daily.

Is joint-venture the only way to build our automobile industry?

The was the headlines. This article was written by someone Station Chief knew, and he immediately starts to read the article seriously.

The automobile companies from the developed nations were making use of joint ventures to control the Chinese market. But the western countries were setting barriers to their technologies from us, and this was unfair! If China's automobile manufacturer got to depend on the technologies of these western companies to develop, then most of the profits will be taken away by them. Our country will be at the losing end!

On the surface, those developed nations were transferring their automobile manufacturing technologies to us, but these technologies were all their obsoleted or about to outdated technologies. These companies will never sell us their advanced technologies.

Our automobile manufacturing industry might seem to be doing well with the production and sales figures increasing rapidly, but at the same time, a large portion of their profits was siphoned away by those foreign companies. Those companies were taking away our people's money.

If this carries on, we will be those developed nation automobile companies' cash cow. They were eating away our grass and still milking us dry!

China does have our own automobile brands. But these brands have stopped the production of their own cars to manufacture vehicles for those foreign brands. Our local automobile brands were disappearing slowly.

All these while, we were just tools for the foreign brands. Our Chinese consumers prefer overseas brands, and the local brands were slowly dying. Even if these local brands wanted to make a comeback in the future, there was no way for these brands to survive. Joint-venture might look like a shortcut, but it was killing our own local companies!

It was because there were no other choices in the past and the state-owned enterprises had to go into joint ventures with those foreign companies. But now, we have better options!

The Machinery Company in Bing City had successfully developed its own vehicles without any support from the government. Their cars were the most advanced in China and can be compared to some of the top vehicle models in the world. Do note that this company was also a joint-venture. But all of the company's assets were owned by Chinese and Hong Kong's private enterprises. This company can be considered a real Chinese company.

They had created Songjiang Motors vehicles. The exterior designs and core technologies were all developed in China and had better performances than those joint-ventured vehicles. This company had even developed a diesel engine to be used on cars.

This company had carved out its own path, showed its creativity and grew independently to become our own national automobile brand. This brand will break the barriers to automobile technologies imposed by those western nations and lead our Chinese automobile manufacturers to the peak!

CCTV's Station Chief finished reading the article and lit a cigarette. Joint-venture was suggested by that person first, and the whole nation starts to use this strategy. This article, which criticized this strategy, was allowed to be published now. Does that mean the higher-ups were going to change their direction?

Luckily, he did not object to purchasing Songjiang Motors vehicles yesterday. The TV station still needs to discuss this today. This article had shown the intentions of the higher-ups. It seems that the higher-ups want to support this Songjiang Motors.

This Songjiang Motors must have strong backings. They even got connections with that person. There was nothing more to discuss. There was only one brand of vehicles for CCTV, Songjiang Motors!

Feng Yu was also reading the article. He had only written the brief of this article and someone had written this article from his brief. This person was able to transform this article into such a compelling article.

Will any problems be arising from this article? Feng Yu remembered that it was the Chief Architect. Damn, will Bing City Machinery Company get into trouble?

But the Chief Architect was still in power now. Since this article was able to be published, there should not be any problems. If the Chief Architect agrees with this article, Songjiang Motors will be a success!

At the same time, all the leaders around China had read this article, and they realized that other than joint-ventured cars, China also has its own brand of vehicles with advanced technologies.

Not only the People's Daily had published this article. Other papers also published similar reports. Of course, the newspapers from the places where the joint-ventured automobile manufacturers were based did not publish.

The leader if the Planning Commission called the person who wrote the article to his office. He wanted to know why this person wrote such an article.

Both of them spoke for a long time, and the Leader of the Planning Commission was convinced.

China's 5-year plan currently was to developed China's automobile industry, and this industry will become one of the key sectors in the next 5-year plan.

If the technologies of China's key industry were in the hands of foreign companies, then if those companies withdraw from China, like the time when those Soviet Union experts withdraw from China, China's automobile industry will go back 10 years!

But the actual situation was not as severe as what was written in the papers. Those foreign companies in the joint-ventures had given the Chinese companies some of their technologies and had increased China's technologies. If these Chinese companies were to continue to develop these technologies, they would be able to catch up with the developed countries.

But this Bing City's Machinery Company was able to successfully develop China's best cars, and the technologies used was said to be one of the best in the world. This was something to shout about.

Although the Leader of the Planning Commission knew this Songjiang Motors had imported the production lines and technologies from the former Soviet Union and merged it with Bing City's Aviation Factory's automobile manufacturing technologies, he never expects the combination of these two technologies could create such a significant improvement.

Then if all the automobile manufacturer in China were to combine their technologies, will they develop a more advanced technology?

This way, China does not need to renew the joint partnership with those foreign companies once the contract was over. China could concentrate on building their own national brand and develop their own automobile industry!

The Chief Architect was also reading this article seriously. He knew about the contents of this article before it was published, and he was the one who had given the green light. He was someone who likes everybody to discuss the problems together and think of a solution.

Also, he does not care whether Bing City's Machinery Company was a state-owned enterprise or a private-owned enterprise. As long as this company was a Chinese company, he was okay with it. This Spring, when he was inspecting Shenzhen, he said his famous quote. This Machinery Company was the cat that could catch mice.

Although the article seems to be against joint partnerships and ventures, the Chief Architect was not angry. Only the ones who dare to explore can find the most suitable path. This Bing City's Machinery Company was very interesting. He wants to make a visit when he's free/

That afternoon, Feng Yu received a page from Chief Jia to ask him to be at CCTV for a discussion about their purchase of Songjiang Motors vehicles.

Feng Yu was overjoyed. His tactics were successful. In the future, those public buses should be changed to Songjiang Motors! Audi, Volvo, Toyota can all step aside!

Translator's notes: Deng Xiaoping was also known as "the architect" in China. His planning and ideology had led to China's success today. More information about him can be found on this Wikipedia page.

One of Deng's most famous quote: It doesn't matter whether the cat is black or white, so long as it catches mice.

Feng Yu was not pleased when he left CCTV. This CCTV had just ordered only 30 vehicles! The total deal was not even worth 4 million RMB! Feng Yu had heard that this was still CCTV ordering more than what they wanted. They had only wanted a batch of 20 vehicles.

In his previous life, even a county will order more cars than this. During that time, when a leader was holding to more than one position, he would be assigned to more than one car. The government now was too poor!

The Station Chief will be assigned with a Songjiang Olympic Luxury edition, and his men will be assigned with the economy edition which was worth only 100,000 RMB each. If it weren't for CCTV wanting a dew more Songjiang Off-Road SUV and Songjiang Red Star vehicles, Feng Yu would not even want to sell them. There were not many profits from this deal. The profit was lower than his motorcycles sales. If this deal were 4 million RMB of motorcycles, the Machinery Company would make at least 1 million RMB of profits. The profits for these vehicles only amounted to a few hundred thousand.

Feng Yu kept telling himself that things would be better in a few years.

Li Mingde and the rest of the Machinery Company's staffs were excited when they knew that CCTV had ordered their cars. All of them had thought that this Motor Cars branch factory will be making a loss. Feng Yu had told them that the targeted customers for their vehicles were the government agencies.

But all of them felt that not a single vehicle will be sold before the New Year. When the first order came in, it was not one or two vehicles. It was an order of 30 cars.

Of course, these 30 vehicles compared to their monthly production was nothing. But at least it was a good start.

Wu Zhigang had contacted those distributors, but all of them were not willing to place the 1 million RMB deposit. All of those distributors said that the deposit and the setup of the car's showroom was a strain on their finances.

Although these distributors had made quite a lot from Songjiang Motorcycles the past year, they had also spent a lot. They do not have so much money for the deposit and showrooms.

It was worth to mention that Songjiang Motorcycles was ranked number 2 in China. More than 250,000 units were sold. With the completion of the new factories next year, their production will increase further, and it was only a matter of time for them to be the leader of the motorcycle industry!

All the new motorcycles that were produced by other brands were copying the designs of Songjiang Motorcycles. Currently, Songjiang Motorcycles' exterior designs were the fad in China.

But there was also bad news. Some motorcycle factories discovered the benefits of getting celebrities to endorse their products and advertising on CCTV. It seems that a few bosses of motorcycle factories will be attending CCTV's advertising slots auctions.

Feng Yu was furious with those distributors for refusing to be the distributor for his vehicles. He asked Wu Zhigang to be more aggressive against them. Did these distributors think that Tai Hua Trading cannot do without them, or it's been a while since he had taught them a lesson?

Wu Zhigang used a more aggressive approach, but it was still useless. These distributors really do not have enough money! But all of them expressed that they will buy a Songjiang Motors vehicle each to show their support.

Damn, there were only slightly more than 20 distributors, and even if they buy the most expensive model each, there will still be not many profits.

At this time, Wu Zhigang suggested using the same method as the motorcycles. The top distributor will be rewarded with a small car!

With such a big reward, these distributors will do their best.

Feng Yu thought for a while and felt that this might work. But he must set a minimum target. It can't be that only one distributor only sells one car while the rest did not sell, and that distributor got the reward.

Feng Yu decided to set a minimum target of 500 vehicles for the distributors. Those that sold more than 500 units will be eligible to compete for the reward. If anyone of their sales were more than 1,000 units, they would be rewarded with one car, and the top sales will get a cash reward of 300,000 RMB.

Maybe only the distributor for Beijing and those coastal provinces could achieve these conditions. The rest of the distributors should average around 300 units in a year.

Feng Yu also gritted his teeth and agree to supply the distributors with the showroom cars for all 6 models with only 500,000 RMB deposit. However, those distributors must have a showroom to display these cars. They can also place these cars in their motorcycle showrooms.

All of Songjiang Motors vehicles only have one color. Glossy black. Actually, this color was the color that will get dirty the most. Even the economy version has the same paintwork. What happens if the paint of the car was damaged?

Those cars that were sold can bring their cars back for aftersales services. But if the vehicles were unsold and the paint was damaged, who would want to buy their cars?

500,000 RMB deposit for 6 showroom cars was a good deal for those distributors. All of them agreed. There were even some distributors asking if they take on more than one province, will the deposit still be 500,000 RMB and they could get 12 showroom cars.

When Feng Yu heard this question, he almost vomits blood. These group of people was more shameless than Wen Dongjun! 500,000 RMB deposit is for one province!

"We will set the retail price, and you will get 5% commission. All your sales proceeds must be deposited into Tai Hua Trading's account, and we will transfer your commissions to your account at the end of every month. All of you can see that it only takes me one day to sell 30 vehicles to CCTV. So, I don't need to tell all of you what customers to target."

All these distributors have some connections with their local government. They had sold quite a number of motorcycles to their local government. To them, it was only a different product, and all of them knew which government agencies have the budget and which does not.

Using the cheapest model's retail price, 120,000 RMB for calculations, if they were able to sell 10 vehicles, their commission would be 60,000 RMB. Even if they were to sell only 20 to 30 cars a month, their commissions for that year would be about 1 to 2 million RMB, and their investment was only 500,000 RMB deposit and the showroom rental.

How could all these distributors miss this opportunity? If it wasn't for the increase of the motorcycle's deposits, they could also afford the 1 million RMB deposits.

Of course, Feng Yu dares to offer such lucrative rewards, he must set harsher conditions. He had made some market research and knew the production of Santana for this year was more than 80,000 units, and all of these were sold. Audi 100 production was over 20,000 units, and they were sold out too. Most of these vehicles were bought by the government agencies or government-related agencies.

Next year, these production figures will still increase by 30%, and the market still has room to improve. There should not be a problem for Songjiang Motors vehicles to enter the market. But first of all, the distributors must get the order from their local government.

Luckily Feng Yu had sold a batch of vehicles to CCTV, and this was considered setting an example for the distributors. CCTV was the government's mouthpiece, and they had purchased Songjiang Motors vehicles. The other units will start to copy them.

If these distributors were able to sell 10,000 vehicles this coming year, then Songjiang Motors will not make any losses!

Feng Yu will not be satisfied with only the Chinese market. No businessman would be happy with just breaking even and not make any profits. There was a vast market nearby waiting for him to penetrate.

"Hello? Brother Ki? You want to buy cars?"

Kirilenko received a call from Feng Yu and was puzzled by his question. He has a lot of cars sitting in his garage. Sports cars, off-roads, MPVs, and even a long limousine. Why would he still need to buy more cars?

Feng Yu also knew about his cars. But why was Feng Yu still asking him if he wants to buy cars? Could it be Feng Yu have some special cars to introduce to him? Kirilenko was interested.

"Feng, what car is it? What brand?"

"Songjiang Motors brand."

Songjiang Motors? Cars?

Kirilenko knocked his head and wondered what company Songjiang Motors was. He had never heard of any automobile company with this name. This name, Songjiang, sounds Chinese. Could this company introduce by Feng Yu, a Chinese company?

Kirilenko suddenly remembered that Feng Yu had bought a few Volga production lines from him. This car was manufactured by Feng Yu's factories?

"Feng, is this car manufactured by your company?"

"That's right. I guarantee the quality of this car is better than your Volga." Feng Yu smiled and answer.

"Feng, tell you honestly, although the Volga is my country's brand, its quality is only so-so. If not, why would we import so many cars from England."

Kirilenko did not tell Feng Yu everything. Other than England cars, there were also a lot of Japanese cars in Russia and the rest of the former Soviet Union countries. These Japanese cars were smuggled into Russia. Japan was a country Russians dislike.

They rather drive the cars produced from their enemies than buy their own Russian vehicles. This could tell how bad Volga cars were.

The production lines bought by Feng Yu were not some advanced production lines. Those were the former Soviet Union second-hand production lines. Feng Yu had also purchased some related technologies from him. This shows that Feng Yu does not have any good technologies in hand. Those technologies bought by Feng Yu were also out-dated Volga technologies. It was even worse than those lousy Volga cars. Kirilenko had lost interest.

"Brother Ki, I know that the Volga cars are not good. But my Songjiang Motors cars can be compared with Audi and Cherokee." Feng Yu mentioned two prominent automobile brands to get Kirilenko's attention.

"Feng, are you sure you are not drunk?"

Feng Yu: "……" You think everyone drinks vodka the first thing in the morning when they wake up like you? I do not like to drink!"

"Brother Ki, I am very sober. I think you should make a trip here when you are free. Come and visit my factory in Bing City. Let me show you how great my products are. This is also an opportunity for you to make money!"

Russia's automobile market was a vast market. With Kirilenko's abilities, his market will not only be Russia. He still has lots of connections in the former Soviet Union countries.

Don't think that those former Soviet Union countries were impoverished. These countries might be poor, but this does not mean that its people were poor too. The former Soviet Union was very corrupted, and after the dissolution, there were many tycoons. Their purchasing power should not be disregarded.

In the coming years, most of the cars in Russia were imported. Although Russia's industrial had recovered rapidly, its automobile manufacturing industry was not doing well. This continued until before Feng Yu's rebirth.

Even the Russian government does not use Volga cars. This showed how bad their cars were! Feng Yu had heard that Volga's technologies remain stagnant for many years. It had dropped from being one of the best automobile manufacturers to one of the worst performing manufacturers in the world. There were even some people who joked that it was a compliment if Russia's automobile industry was as good as Fatty Kim's country!

Feng Yu had thought about this before. In China, there were many competitors like those joint-partnership cars and also those imported Japanese, European and US cars. It will be hard for Songjiang Motors to establish a strong foothold in China within a short time.

But Russia was different. Their cars were mainly imported, and most of the imported cars were from England. German cars? US and Japanese cars? Haha, the former Soviet Union and Russia's current relationship with these countries were worse than China's relationship with Japan!

Russia had over 100 million population, and the number of vehicles in Russia was more than China. There was potential in all the consumer demographics.

Feng Yu's last sentence had sparked Kirilenko's interest.

Opportunity to make money?

Kirilenko had never doubt Feng Yu's ability to make money. Since Feng Yu said that this could make money, he knows he will make a fortune from this deal with Feng Yu.

Now, Kirilenko had a high status among the Russian businessmen. Just his imported goods from China, no other businessmen could replace him.

But there were still many people wealthier than him. Although Kirilenko had bought many mines and natural resources before the disintegration, he did not start to mine because of Feng Yu's suggestion. There were no profits from his mines yet.

Also, after the disintegration of the Soviet Union, Kirilenko could no longer sell industrial equipment and technologies. The only business he has left was the commodities trade with China.

There was a significant difference with the money available to him and his total assets. He was not happy with this. He felt that he was the owner of several mines, but his life was still the same as before.

The thing that troubled him the most was the depreciation of Rubles. The depreciation had been continuing all this while. Yeltsin had implemented some measures to try to stop the depreciation, but it failed.

Kirilenko should be happy with this depreciation as the money he owes were all in Rubles. As the value of Rubles drop, the amount he needs to repay will be lesser. However, this depreciation also affected his commodities trade with China. Those Chinese goods he was selling were in Rubles, and this means that he was losing a significant portion of his profits.

These were the reason why Kirilenko was interested in making more money.

"Feng, you should have told me about this earlier. I am free these few days. I will give you a call before I board my flight."

"No problem. I will take care of you when you are here. There will be sufficient liquor and nice Chinese cuisine for you. But I cannot arrange any Chinese girls for you."

Feng Yu does not want his fellow Chinese ladies to be ruined by this big polar bear!

"Hahaha. Oh, do you want me to bring Elena over to you? The last time I met her, she was asking about you." Kirilenko joked.

When Elena's name was mentioned, her youthful and sexy body immediately comes to Feng Yu's mind. Feng Yu shook his head and said: "Never mind. I will go visit her in Moscow when I have the time."

"That's right. I will be very disappointed with you if you ask me to bring her over. How can a woman lead a man by the nose? Don't you Chinese have this saying? 'A woman's bosom is a hero's grave'"

Damn, where did this Kirilenko hear this saying?

"Fine. I will be waiting for you in China. I promise you will not be disappointed!"

Tian Lei was feeling helpless. Feng Yu wants to apply leave from school again. The frequency of Feng Yu taking leave had increased during this semester. But Tian Lei could not reject Feng Yu because of his reasons. Organizing a national level exhibition, helping CCTV organize the award ceremony. The excuse this time was to play host to a big shot from overseas.

Although Tian Lei does not know why Feng Yu was involved with hosting someone from overseas, he still helps him applied for the leave. Feng Yu had helped him a lot in school, and his girlfriend was introduced by Feng Yu.

This bigshot from overseas was referring to Kirilenko.

When Feng Yu arrived at Bing City, Kirilenko had already reached, and Li Shiqiang had sent his men to pick him with Songjiang Motors vehicle.

By the time Feng Yu arrived at the restaurant, Kirilenko was already high. The most surprising part was that Li Shiqiang had not even drunk a single drop of alcohol.

Feng Yu swore that he must learn this skill from his brother-in-law. How did he get Kirilenko drunk and he did not even drink!? The weirdest part was Li Shiqiang does not understand Russian, and Kirilenko does not know Chinese. The translators were not present too. How did both of them communicate?

Using sign language to make Kirilenko drink?

Feng Yu had still wanted to talk to Kirilenko about his cars today, but it seems impossible now. Feng Yu sat down and ate something before both he and Li Shiqiang carried Kirilenko back to the car.

"You can stay with him at the international hotel. I still have 2 friends visiting me. They are waiting for me at home."

Li Shiqiang had escaped, and Feng Yu was going crazy.

Sleeping under the same roof with Kirilenko? Have you heard the noise of electric drills drilling the wall?!

Luckily there were still available rooms at the hotel, and Feng Yu booked another room next to Kirilenko for himself.

Soon, Feng Yu regretted. He should have booked a room two floors away from Kirilenko's room. What soundproofing did this goddamn hotel have? He could hear Kirilenko's thunderous snoring clearly in the adjacent room!

When Feng Yu was about to fall asleep, he heard someone knocking on his door.

"Who is it?"

"Feng, are you in there? Are you awake?" Kirilenko was knocking on his door shouting energetically.

Feng Yu opened the door unwillingly. He was full of respect for Kirilenko. Last night, Kirilenko was dead drunk, and after sleeping for one night, he was revived with full hit points! But what about me? Your snoring had kept me awake the whole night!

"Ah… Brother Ki. It is still early. You should go for some breakfast first. I need to sleep a while more." Feng Yu yawned.

Kirilenko gave Feng Yu a "Wake up and play with me" look and stopped Feng Yu from closing the door. He went into the room and shoved Feng Yu into the bathroom: "Hurry up. Didn't you say you had arranged a fun day today?"

What the hell did brother-in-law arrange to make Kirilenko so excited? How come no one informed me?

"Fine. Wait a while. I need to use the bathroom."

After half an hour of washing up, Feng Yu slowly came out of the bathroom. Kirilenko was already running out of patience.

When the both of them reach downstairs, Li Shiqiang had driven over: "The both of you are early."

Feng Yu rolled his eyes at his brother-in-law. It was all because of the things you told Kirilenko yesterday. If not, why would he wake me up so early today?

"Li, are you here to pick us up? You are really my good friend." Kirilenko patted Li Shiqiang's shoulders with a grateful look.

Feng Yu looked at the both of them. If he did not know about their sexual preferences, he might have thought that both of them were gay!

"Let's go. I will bring you to have breakfast."

This was a small shop with a short metal chimney sticking out from a hole in the roof. Thick smoke was billowing out from the chimney.

There were some writings on the door, and Feng Yu knew that this was only a regular shop selling breakfast. Why was Kirilenko so excited?

Damn, did Brother-in-law arranged some young waitress for Kirilenko in this small shop?

But when Feng Yu entered the shop, he saw a plumped middle age auntie. He was relieved. He knew that Kirilenko would not have such exquisite tastes in women. Hmmm… Maybe he really has such fetish. Feng Yu had heard that Russian middle age women were also very popular in Russia.

"What do you want to order?"

"Do you have freshly fried Youtiao (dough sticks)?"

"Yes. There are also freshly fried pancakes, pancakes with fillings, meat buns, porridge, and soy milk. What do you want?"

"3 youtiao, 3 fried pancakes, 3 pancakes with fillings, 3 meat buns, 3 bowls of soy milk and 3 salted duck eggs for now."

Feng Yu's eyes widen. All these for now? How could the 3 of them finish so much food?

When the food arrived, Kirilenko gobbled up the food in a few mouthfuls. Now, Feng Yu knew his brother-in-law was right to order so much food. The food he ordered might not be enough!

"Feng, this 'Youtiao" taste so good. This pancake with fillings is good too. The taste of this meat bun is also exceptional. Why are you not eating?" Kirilenko asked with his mouth full of food.

Damn, how long have you been starving? Feng Yu suddenly remembered that Kirilenko did not have any dinner the night before. But he should also not be so hungry.

Li Shiqiang laughed and told Feng Yu: "He had not tasted all these foods. That's why it is interesting to him."

This was the problem with the International Hotel. Their breakfast was prepared according to the nationality of their guests. They claimed that they were respecting their guests. Kirilenko had come to Bing City several times, and he still had not tried the traditional Chinese breakfast.

"Brother-in-law, what did you promise him yesterday? Why is he so excited today?" Feng Yu asked.

Li Shiqiang was also surprised: "I had only asked the translator to tell him that I will be bringing him around to try out our China's street food. Later at the restaurant, the translator left. I can't speak Russian, so we start ordering. But every time I raise my glass, he will finish his glass. Because I have to drive, I am drinking plain water."

Feng Yu: "……"

Damn, this will work? This meant that Kirilenko had made himself drunk yesterday!

But was there a need for Kirilenko to be so excited over some street food? This Kirilenko is a foodie?

Russia does not have delicious food? The pies and sausages I ate in Moscow taste nice too. But it seems that other than these, there isn't any other delicious food.

China was like France. Their cuisines were famous throughout the world. Foreign delegates had praised Chinese cuisine more than once.

Feng Yu had only eaten a bun, and a fried pancake and Kirilenko had finished the rest of the food on the table. He seems to like deep fried food a lot. He had finished 4 youtiao!

"Brother Ki, how is the food?"

"Very good. What are we having for lunch?" Kirilenko asked excitedly.

Huh? Did you forget why you are here in Bing City? Why are you only asking about food?

"We can talk about lunch later. We need to visit the Machinery Company's automobile factory later. I told you that you will be able to make money."

Kirilenko took out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped his mouth with a satisfied look: "Ok. I will follow your arrangements."

Feng Yu was staring at that handkerchief. He remembered that when he was helping Kirilenko to change yesterday, this handkerchief had dropped onto the floor. He had also stepped on it with his smelly socks.

Hmmm…. Feng Yu decided to keep this a secret from Kirilenko. Maybe it was because of the smell from this handkerchief, he has such a good appetite.

Translator's notes: Youtiao is a long golden-brown deep-fried strip of dough eaten in China. The Chinese pancakes written in this chapter is similar to scallion pancake. You can see the pictures here.

All the employees of the Automobile branch factories, including Li Mingde and Zhang Ruiqiang, were excited when they heard that there will be a big boss from Russia visiting the factory. This big boss will place a significant order if he is satisfied with the cars.

Zhang Ruiqiang was invited by Li Mingde to represent the City to meet this Russian boss. This can also be considered the City's support of the Machinery Company.

When Feng Yu and Kirilenko arrived at the automobile factory, Kirilenko's men had already reached. The streets leading to the factory were lined with banners written in Russian, welcoming Kirilenko.

Kirilenko saw the banners and was very excited. The Chinese were too passionate. Were all these arranged by Feng Yu? The next time when Feng Yu goes to Moscow, I must welcome him this way. I cannot let him think that we, Russians, are not as welcoming as the Chinese.

Actually, these banners were arranged by Li Mingde. In the past, when the Machinery Company was still a state-owned enterprise, they would also do the same thing whenever any big businessman visits. Of course, those "big businessman" and their "huge" orders amounted only about 1 million RMB worth of agriculture machinery. Now, even a 10 million RMB deal will not get this treatment.

"Mayor Zhang, Old Li, this is the businessman from Russia. Mr. Kirilenko. Brother Ki, this is our Bing City's Mayor Mr. Zhang Ruiqiang, and this is our Machinery Company's General Manager, Mr. Li Mingde." Feng Yu introduced both parties.

Zhang Ruiiqiang warmly shook Kirilenko's hands and even greeted him in Russian. Kirilenko shook his hands for only a second. If it wasn't for Feng Yu introducing this person, he was not interested to know him. In Russia, the number of top regional officials who had dined with him was more than double digits. He was not interested to know some City's mayor! (Russia's regional top official was equivalent to China's Provincial Governor.)

But Kirilenko shook Li Mingde's hand longer. He had met Li Mingde twice before. Li Mingde was puzzled. This Russian does not know who had more authority? He was reluctant to shake the Mayor's hand and greeted Li Mingde so warmly?

Kirilenko had visited the Machinery Company before, and Li Mingde had also met him previously. But to Li Mingde, all Caucasians look the same. He was still thinking in his heart, why was there so many Russians named Kirilenko? Was this their surname?

Kirilenko's were glued to the vehicles the moment he stepped into the factory. These were Volga's cars?

I knew Feng Yu was exaggerating. How could he produce any good cars? These cars were the exact replica of Volga's cars. Kirilenko turned and look at Feng Yu.

Li Mingde immediately explained: "These Volga's cars were manufactured using the technologies we got from the former Soviet Union. We will be using this car for comparisons later."

After hearing the explanation from his translator, Kirilenko looked at Li Mingde in doubt. Using Volga's car for comparison? That means you have successfully built better cars than the Volga?

So what? Kirilenko had also admitted that Russia, including the former Soviet Union, does not have any good cars. Many of the Russian politicians also prefer to sit in England cars. Those cars were much better than Volga's cars. Moreover, you had built this Volga's car using the old technology. The current Volga's models were much better than this car.

Also, this Volga car you had assembled might even be worse than Volga's older model. It was never easy to develop new automobile technologies.

"Manager Li, can I let my men test drive this vehicle?"

"Of course. No problem. This car had been tested by our engineer hired from Petersburg. He said that the quality of this car can be compared to the best Volga's model in Russia."

Li Mingde pointed to a big sized man with a thick beard. This mechanical engineer was hired by the Machinery Company from the former Soviet Union.

Kirilenko frowned. He had forgotten Feng Yu had hired some engineers from the Soviet Union previously. That means this Volga's car should not have any problems.

But Kirilenko still asked his own mechanical engineer to inspect the car. Feng Yu had invited him over for business. What if there were problems with the quality of these products? He would make a loss if he were to place orders for defective goods. Feng Yu also do not know much about Russia's automobile market. His judgment might also not be so accurate.

The engineer opened the bonnet to take a look. Then he climbed under the car to check the undercarriage. After that, he entered the vehicle to inspect the interior. He made a thorough inspection of the vehicle.

While the engineer was inspecting the vehicle, Li Mingde was telling Kirilenko about the factory. He was telling Kirilenko things like how big this factory was, the number of workers and professional engineers, the initial investments, the yearly production, etc. Li Mingde had a flair for telling others about the company's history and past achievements. But he was unable to showcase this skill as the Machinery Company's automobile factory was very new.

When Li Mingde starts to explain about the Songjiang Motors' vehicles with a colored brochure, Kirilenko's engineer had finish inspecting that Volga's car.

"This car's performance is outstanding. This is definitely a new car and had used our Volga's technologies. The technologies used are about our standards ten years ago. The performance of this car only loses to the current Volga's models slightly."

Kirilenko nodded and turned to Feng Yu. Heard that? This car is about our standards 10 years ago and not as good as our Volga's cars now. What can you prove by using this car to compare?

Feng Yu also knew about this. But Volga's technological upgrades was the slowest among the major automobile manufacturers. It could not even be compared to China. The Volga's newest models of cars were not much better than 10 years ago.

Later when Kirilenko saw the Songjiang Motors vehicles, he will have nothing to say.

Kirilenko had also noticed that the exterior design of Songjiang Motors vehicles was gorgeous. All 3 types of cars had captured his attention.

The Olympic model looked grand and was suitable for businessmen and families. The Off-road model looks rugged and domineering. The Red Star model looks like a van but does not have a bulky feel.

Overall, Kirilenko likes the designs of all three models. But no matter how beautiful the exterior designs were, it was the performance of the vehicles that matters the most. Cars were for driving and not for display. If he really wants to compare the exterior designs, he still thinks his sports cars in his garage were more beautiful.

But not everybody could afford to own a sports car. These cars which cost tens of thousands USD were still the automobile mainstream. These were also Russian consumer's preferred vehicles.

Kirilenko passed the brochure to his engineer for him to give his professional opinions.

The engineer saw the pictures of the cars and was captivated by the beautiful designs. This is an SUV? The width seems to be quite wide. The interior must be very spacious. The angle of the front portion of this car should be able to lower the air resistance, and the whole body was sleek. It was really stunning.

That's for sure. This Songjiang Off-road designed was based on Audi Q7 from the future. After Liu Michael's numerous modifications, it looks different from Q7, but it still seems better than Jeep and Cherokee.

Kirilenko waited for a while and saw his engineer not saying a word. What was this guy doing? Why was he keeping quiet after looking at the brochures for so long?

Kirilenko coughed, and the engineer jumped. He was too engrossed with the brochures.

The engineer immediately flips to the last few pages of the brochures, where it states the specifications of the vehicles. The engineer's jaw dropped with he saw the specs.

How can this be possible? This is impossible!

China's cars can have such technologies? These technologies were not only ahead of Russia. These technologies were ahead of Russia by at least 10 years. The vehicles' performance can be compared to European cars!

Li Mingde was feeling proud when he saw the shocked expression on the engineer's face. When he knew about the specs of Machinery Company's vehicles, he was also shocked like this engineer.

Li Mingde had thought their vehicles would catch up with Santana at most after they had combined the technologies bought by Feng Yu. He never expects that after adding the Motor Factory's engine, turbocharge technology, suspensions, etc., their vehicles would reach such high standards!

Although the overall performance still could not be compared to European and Japanese cars, their cars were the best in China!

When Li Mingde looked at the manufacturing cost, he was alarmed. The cost was about the same as those joint-partnership cars, but the performances were much better.

At that moment, Li Mingde believed what Feng Yu had said in the past. We will build China's best cars, and our goal in the future will be producing the best cars in the world!

Li Mingde had never thought that the goal of building China's best cars could be achieved so easily. Also, the cost of their factories, compared to First Automobile Works (FAW) and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), were much cheaper. The production lines bought from the former Soviet Union were considered a steal when compared to FAW's production lines.

Although the production lines bought from the former Soviet Union were old, FAW's production lines were also old models. There was not much difference between both production lines. The production lines from the former Soviet Union were noisy and had many other flaws, but they were durable.

Li Mingde was very impressed with Feng Yu's guts and foresight.

He now firmly believes what Feng Yu had said in the past. More than 50,000 Songjiang Motors vehicles will be sold annually within 3 years.

The sales of their vehicles were not doing well now, but it was because they had not started any large-scale marketing campaigns yet. When the commercials were aired after the Lunar New Year, the sales will definitely pick up. Furthermore, Tai Hua Trading's selling capabilities were one of the best in China.

Also, CCTV had already purchased Songjiang Motors vehicles. This means that the market was willing to recognize their cars!

"Mr. Kirilenko, these specifications had been proven, and we can let your men test it. Our factory has all these models now, and they are all mass produced. This factory is only manufacturing the 3 versions of the Olympic model. The other two models are manufactured by our factory in Jinling. If you have the time, I can bring you there for a visit." Li Mingde said with a proud look on his face.

Kirilenko looked at his engineer, and his engineer said: "Sir, these specifications are among the best in the world. If these figures are real, then these cars are way ahead of Volga's latest models!"

What? Way ahead of Volga's latest models?

"You sure?"

"I must test the cars first to be sure." The engineer replied seriously.

Kirilenko nodded. Li Mingde waved his hand, and his staff brought the Russian engineer to test drive the vehicles.

Feng Yu smilingly looked at Kirilenko: "Brother Ki, how is it? Do you like the interior and exterior designs of my cars? Do you think that these cars will be popular in your country?"

"How are these cars selling in your country?" Kirilenko asked Feng Yu back.

Feng Yu casually replied: "A few days ago, CCTV, our national TV station, had purchased a batch of our cars. Mayor Zhang here can prove that I am not lying to you."

Zhang Ruiqiang stared at Feng Yu. This rascal was quoting out of context again. CCTV had indeed placed an order, but CCTV was the only one who had placed any orders. Other than CCTV, Feng Yu had not sold a single car yet.

But Zhang Ruiqiang chooses to support Feng Yu as the other party was a Russian.

"That's right. CCTV is the voice of our government. This TV station has a high status in China. They have indeed ordered a batch of Songjiang Motors vehicles. They had wanted to purchase German's Audi and Santana. But they realized Songjiang Motors vehicles are better and have better specifications. That's why they changed their mind."

Li Mingde added: "We have already delivered CCTV's cars to them. You do not need to worry about our production not keeping up."

But one of Kirilenko's men suddenly asked: "Can I ask Mayor Zhang, is Bing City's Government buying Songjiang Motors vehicles too?"

Zhang Ruiqiang was stunned. Why was this question suddenly thrown to him? His faced changed. He understood what that Russian wanted to know. Since you claim this Songjiang Motors vehicles are so good, then why is Bing City's government not purchasing these figures?

"We are still discussing the purchasing contract. As we will be purchasing in large numbers, we need to get approval from the Provincial government. That's why we still cannot finalize the contract yet." Zhang Ruiqiang explained after thinking for a while.

Kirilenko frowned: "Mayor Zhang, why do you still need to consult the Provincial Government over such a trivial matter? I did not see your car when I come. Can you tell me what car you are using now?"

Zhang Ruiqiang looked at Feng Yu, and Feng Yu shrugged his shoulders. Why are you looking at me for? Answer him yourself.

"My car is an old car, Audi 100. We are planning to change our cars. Personally, I prefer the Songjiang Motors Olympic model. It looks grand and suits government officials." Zhang Ruiqiang gritted his teeth and said.

Zhang Ruiqiang was regretting. He should return back to his office after he met Kirilenko. He can just show up again when Kirilenko was about to sign the contract.

Now, Zhang Ruiqiang had no choice. He can't tell Kirilenko that he does not want to purchase Songjiang Motors vehicles. This was the Machinery Company to export their vehicles. He can't mess up this deal.

Wait, Li Mingde had told the City that there will be a businessman from Russia visiting the Machinery Company and they will be discussing about his purchase. Was this on purpose? If this was not on purpose, why would Li Mingde ask him to be present to show his support for the Machinery Company?

Zhang Ruiqiang gave Feng Yu a stare. He felt he had been tricked by Feng Yu!

Feng Yu had an innocent look. He also did not expect Kirilenko's man to ask this question. He was innocent.

But now, Zhang Ruiqiang could not stop the City Government from purchasing Songjiang Motors vehicles. Li Mingde had tried to persuade the City to buy these vehicles but were stopped by Zhang Ruiqiang. Zhang Ruiqiang had set an example by traveling in the former Mayor's Audi 100. How could his subordinates still dare to suggest changing their vehicles for better ones?

If the City Government changed their vehicles, then the counties and agencies will find all sort of excuses to replace their current fleet. Bing City's finances were still doing well these few years.

Kirilenko looked at Zhang Ruiqiang: "How many Songjiang Motors vehicles does Bing City wants to purchase and which model?"

Zhang Ruiqiang was cursing in his heart. Why are you keep focusing on me? Seems like he cannot just purchase a few cars to fool Kirilenko. Does this mean that the City will have to buy a batch of vehicles?

"Ermm…… we are still considering about the models. But the total number of vehicles should not be less than 100 units!" Zhang Ruiqiang replied.

He was afraid that if the number of vehicles was too little, Kirilenko would have doubts. As for how many cars will be purchased in the end can be discussed later.

Kirilenko still wanted to ask more questions, but Zhang Ruiqiang glanced at Li Mingde, and Li Mingde immediately changed the topic.

"Mr. Kirilenko, if these cars are as good as what was written on the brochures, will you be interested in ordering a batch?"

"I am interested of course. But there are still many factors like prices and some other conditions to consider." Kirilenko smiled and answered.

Feng Yu gave Li Mingde a look, and Li Mingde did not carry on asking. Feng Yu can negotiate the prices with Kirilenko himself. After all, Feng Yu was more familiar with Russia than them.

"Brother Ki, the cheapest version of our Olympic model, is also equipped with airbags. The cost is more than 20,000 USD. The cost for this mid-range version is almost 40,000 USD. The top tier model's cost is 60,000 USD. The cost for both diesel and petrol versions of this Off-road SUV model is about the same. About 40,000 USD. Finally, this Red Star model is about 60,000 USD. How many do you want? I can give you some discounts."

Kirilenko looked at Feng Yu. The cost of these cars was so high? Then if Feng Yu were to add in the profits and the transportation charges to Moscow, there would not be any profits left.

"Feng, the prices for your cars is a bit high. If I want to sell your cars, I will not have any profits." Kirilenko was not happy. Didn't you promise that I will be able to make lots of money?

Feng Yu also knows that prices he gave were slightly higher. Those were not the cost of the vehicles. Those were the retail prices in China.

"Brother Ki, look. We are selling these cars to Russia, and we need to pay the exportation taxes. The taxes are included in the price."

Currently, China's exportation tax was very low for vehicles. Not only vehicles, but the rest of the products were also the same. China was encouraging exportation. To earn foreign currency, China had used all ways and means. Some items that were lacking in China were also exported and then imported again. This was turning exports into domestic sales. This way, China would be able to get foreign currencies.

"I also need to pay importation taxes, and our taxes are quite high too. These are not those small tickets items." Kirilenko winked at Feng Yu.

Kirilenko had never paid any taxes for his commodities trade all this while. Anyway, all his goods were in the military train carriages. When the train reaches Russia, there will be no one checking. When the products reach Moscow, no one dares to interfere with his business due to his father.

But vehicles were different. There was no way to hide. If he were to import these vehicles into Russia without paying any taxes, there would be some impact on his father's reputation.

"How about this, Brother Ki? Our production had not started completely. That's why our cost is a bit higher. I will speak to the leaders and see if we can get some government policies to lower the taxes. This way, the cost of each car can be lowered by about 1,000 USD. With these new prices, I think you will surely have more profits."

Damn, England imported cars used by the Russian officials were more expensive. If Kirilenko was able to make use of his connections and background properly, he should get at least a few thousand USD of profits for each car. If he could sell 1,000 cars, his earnings will be at least a few million USD. This was not a small sum and was much higher than his monthly commodities trade.

Of course, this was only if Kirilenko was able to sell so many vehicles.

Zhang Ruiqiang looked at Feng Yu and said: "Hmmm… We can discuss this later."

Of course, this was only lip service. Zhang Ruiqiang will never agree to waive off the taxes. Feng Yu had made so much money. What's wrong with him paying the country and the City some taxes?

Kirilenko was still thinking about this deal when his engineer returned. The engineer was very excited and kept nodding to Kirilenko.

"Sir, there are no problems with the cars' performances. Their cars and engines are much better than the Volga. The suspension, anti-collision, and other safety features were much better than Volga cars. Overall, these cars are excellent."

The engineer had wanted to say the overall performance of these cars were almost perfect. But he did not want to say it in front of all the Chinese.

"Brother Ki, why are you hesitating? The performance is much better than your country's Volga and is about the same as those English cars. The prices are also much lower. Not only individuals will buy. Have you ever considered if your government will make a bulk purchase?" Feng Yu raised one eyebrow.

That's right. Why didn't I think of this earlier? If I could sell these cars to the local governments, it will be much easier. I can also place an order with Feng Yu after I receive orders from the local governments. This way, I do not have to use any of my capital.

"Feng, after you have spoken to your government, give me the final price list." Kirilenko said after a short pause.

"No problem. The price I am giving you will surely let you make lots of profits." Feng Yu was overjoyed. Seems like Kirilenko was interested. He knew that Kirilenko would be interested if the profits were high enough.

The deal this time was considered a win-win situation for both parties. Feng Yu believed that Kirilenko could sell off this batch of vehicles at high prices to the corrupted Russian governments easily. Even if the rates offered to Kirilenko remained the same, Kirilenko would still have high profits.

Now, Feng Yu had offered to lower the prices slightly, that means Kirilenko's profits will increase further. His profits might even be higher than the Machinery Company.

Zhang Ruiqiang looked at Feng Yu in a daze. Did this kid plan to sell these vehicles to Russia from the start? No wonder he dares to guarantee that the sales will exceed 50,000 units within 3 years.

Now it seems that Feng Yu does not even need 3 years.

Zhang Ruiqiang was puzzled. Russia had inherited most of the Soviet Union's assets. Why did their automobile industry decline to such state? Even if the former Soviet Union's industrial developments were in the wrong direction, but Russia now should also be considered a powerful industrial country.

This Russian had agreed to import a batch of vehicles from the Machinery Company!

This Russian should be the one who had been selling the former Soviet Union industrial equipment to Feng Yu. That means he should also know that this factory's production lines were second-hand production lines from the former Soviet Union. Why was he still willing to buy the Machinery Company's vehicles?

Could it be that these vehicles were really as good as what Feng Yu claims?

Feng Yu had bought second-hand equipment from the former Soviet Union previously and then manufactured vehicles from those equipment. The cars produced were then sold back to Russia. Was this considered buying a hen and then selling eggs back to the seller?

Li Mingde immediately asked his men to prepare lunch at the factory's canteen.

Kirilenko's eyes widened and said something in a weird accent: "Xiao Chi?" (Xiao Chi refers to street food or snacks in Chinese)

Li Mingde looked at the translator confused. The translator was also staring at Kirilenko blankly. The translator had not heard of such Russian word before.

Feng Yu helplessly said: "He wants to eat street food. Tell the canteen to prepare some local snacks. Oh, prepare a carton of Bing City's strongest Baijiu!"

Feng Yu was screaming in his heart. Die Kirilenko! This afternoon, we have so many people. You will be drunk for sure!
