Donut Friendship - Chapter 4: Doma
"Here is your order! Please come again!" said Tanjiro as he handed the girl her order
"Thanks." she replied and left
Outside the bakery, she frantically looked around and then quickly walked away. Tanjiro saw that and was a bit confused.
"Hm? What was that about…?" he thought
As he lost sight of her, he got back to the cash register. He glanced at the display shelf with the donuts and noticed something that was odd… He still had a lot of donuts left. Normally, at that time, most of them would be sold already. As he was thinking about it, he also realized something else. He hasn't seen many customers in his bakery lately.
While thinking about it, another girl entered the bakery, looking around and behind her back.
"Welcome! What can I get you?" Tanjiro asked with a big smile
"Hello… I would like a couple of donuts…" she said in a soft voice
Tanjiro noticed her odd behavior and asked her about it.
"Hm? Is something wrong? You look like something happened." he asked concerned
"Pfff… Ye…" she replied, constantly looking behind her back
After she made sure nobody was behind her, she looked at Tanjiro again and spoke up.
"You know… Sometimes outside your bakery, there is this… guy…" she explained
"Hm? Guy?" Tanjiro asked
"Yes… He keeps bugging me and all the other girls that go here… One time, I didn't even come because I was afraid that he is going to be here again…" she explained, and looked behind her again
Tanjiro thought about it and it made sense! If there really was some weird guy outside his bakery, then people would think twice before coming here. He hasn't noticed anyone outside, thought...
"Thank you for telling me! I keep an eye out and if I see him, I will confront him!" he said with an energetic tone
The girl smiled and paid for her order. After getting her donut bag, she left the store with a smile… but it left her the second she heard a voice and turned around. A tall guy with a smile walked up to her and spoke to her. She immediately turned her back to him and walked away. Tanjiro saw all that through the glass and quickly ran outside.
Outside, he could see the guy smiling and waving at the girl, so he decided to confront him.
"Excuse me!" he said with a loud voice and serious expression
Hearing that, the guy turned around, and his smile left him.
"Eh…? Who are you?" he asked annoyed
"My name is Tanjiro Kamado and I run the bakery here!" he said with a determination in his voice as he pointed at the bakery behind him
"…cool story." the guy replied and turned his back to him again
Tanjiro didn't know how to respond. He has been totally ignored!
"H-Hey! I'm talking to you! Who are you and what are you doing here!" Tanjiro demanded answers
The guy slowly turned around with an annoyed expression. He looked at Tanjiro for a few seconds and spoke up.
"Listen here… Kiddo…" he said as he crossed his arms
"You seriously don't know who I am? Are you living under a rock? I am one of the most famous people in this country." he explained
"Famous?" Tanjiro asked
"Yes! Famous! My name… is Doma! And I am the host of many television shows, which you can see every day on TV! People love me, and I have millions of fans!" he proclaimed proudly as he pointed at himself
"Never heard of you." Tanjiro replied with a plain expression
"IGH!" Doma jumped back in shock as he heard that
He looked at Tanjiro who had a confused look on his face.
"How the hell doesn't this kid know who I am!?" he thought to himself as he tried to calm down
Taking a deep breath, Doma managed to calm down and Tanjiro asked him again.
"Anyway, what are you doing here?" Tanjiro asked him as he crossed his arms
"Pf! Why should I tell you? Get lost." Doma replied
"People told me that you have been harassing them! If you don't explain yourself now, I will be forced to call the authorities!" said Tanjiro
"IGH!" Doma cursed as he heard that
Even though Doma was a smooth talker and had no problems of talking himself out of any trouble in the past, he was in no mood for a police questioning right now.
"Alright, I will explain myself." he said, to which Tanjiro nodded
"There are a lot of cute girls here, and because I'm such a kind soul… I use the few moments of my free time that I have to spent it with my fans!" he explained proudly with a smile
"Really? It looks like you're just harassing girls on the street…" Tanjiro replied with a plain expression again
"IGH!" again, Doma jumped back in shock as he heard that
"This kid…GRRRRR…" he grinded his teeth
Taking a deep breath again, he calmed down once more.
"Well… as I said before. Please stop harassing the girls here! If you don't, then people won't come to my bakery." Tanjiro explained
"Ohhh... Is that so?" Doma asked mockingly
"Yes! People love our donuts, but because of you, some of them are reluctant to come!" Tanjiro explained
"Donuts…? Pff! As if people would come here just for your donuts…" he mocked Tanjiro again
"It's true! Believe me!" Tanjiro countered
"Sure…" Doma said with a mocking smile
"Alright! Wait here!" said Tanjiro and went back inside the bakery, which left Doma confused
After a few seconds, he came back and brought with him a donut.
"Here! Eat it!" said Tanjiro as he handed him the donut
Doma just stared at him and didn't say anything.
"Eh…?"
"This is one of our donuts! Eat it and see for yourself!" said Tanjiro
Hearing that, a cocky smile formed on Doma's lips.
"Kid… do you think that I am stupid? I know you put something in it… Poison maybe, hm?"
Hearing that, Tanjiro broke the donut in half and ate one half of it. He handed the other half to Doma. His cocky smile disappeared, and he took the half from his hand.
"Ok, I will try this. But on more thing kiddo… I have HIGH expectations…" he said with a sinister smile and ate the half Tanjiro gave him
"Hmmm… Not bad… it's goo-UGH!" Doma's eyes shot wide open as he ate the half of the donut
"So? How was it?" Tanjiro asked eagerly
Doma stared at him with his eyes wide open. This was one of the best things he has ever tasted. He was speechless.
"K-K-Kid… do you really sell these?" he asked
"Yes! I make them daily! So I can assure you, that every single one of them is fresh!" Tanjiro proclaimed proudly
Doma turned his head and looked at the display shelf inside the bakery. After seeing all the donuts there, he faced Tanjiro again.
"Kid. I would like to buy some."
"No." Tanjiro replied with a smile
"HUH?! Why not!?" Doma asked with anger in his voice
"As long as you keep harassing girls, I won't sell to you!" Tanjiro explained
"Grrr… Alright listen up! I promise… that during your opening hours, I won't annoy any-" as he was speaking, he was cut off by Tanjiro
"NO! At any time!" Tanjiro said
"UGH… Ok… AT ANY TIME! I promise that I won't annoy anyone anymore! AT ANY TIME..." Doma said as he grinded his teeth
"Good! If I hear that you have been harassing any customer, then I will never sell to you again, and I will also notify the authorities, you understand?" Tanjiro asked
Hearing that, Doma's eye twitched a bit, and it took all of his mental strength not to scream.
"Y-Y-YES. I UNDERSTAAAAAAND…." he said with anger in his voice
"That's great! So, what can I get you?" Tanjiro asked as he walked back inside the bakery, with Doma behind him cursing…
Authors note: Man… I'm making these chapters daily! Let's see how long I can last… Next time, a young energetic girl from the volleyball team and the chairman of the archery team visit Tanjiro's bakery…
