Two weeks later, the newfound family of three was out on Jamie's day off, Emily was out of the boot and almost fully healed from the accident, and they were visiting some of the houses Eddie found for them to check out. They were looking at a six-bedroom six-bathroom house just a few blocks from Frank and Henry in Bay Ridge.
"It's nice, and we're only a few blocks from Dad and Pop." Jamie stated as they got out of the car and waited for the realtor to meet them.
"Yeah, it's further from the 2-9 than we currently are but still possible, just a bit of a drive." Eddie replied and Emily nodded.
"It's nice, I like it, but I really can't wait to see the inside." Emily said coming to stand next to them. Jamie nodded.
"After all the places we've looked at so far, I really hope we find the one today." Eddie replied rubbing her bump.
"Yeah, hopefully." Jamie replied as the realtor pulled up.
"Hello, are we ready to find a house today?" Sarah asked.
"Absolutely." Eddie replied as they all moved towards the door so Sarah could let them in.
"This house has the kitchen, living room, dining room, den, laundry room, and two bedrooms each with their own en suite bathroom, one of which jack-and-jill's with the hallway on the first floor and three bedrooms with their own en suites, nice sized closets, and the master suite with a walk in closet and en suite bathroom on the second floor. There is also the attached two car garage that opens into the laundry room." Sarah informed them as they walked into the house.
"It's gorgeous," Emily commented as she wandered down the hallway towards the bedrooms and den.
"It is," Jamie replied as he and Eddie followed Sarah into the kitchen and dining room.
"Are the appliances new? They look like they were just installed."
"They are. The countertops and cabinets have just been updated as well."
"They're nice," Eddie replied as she trailed her fingers across the counter top.
"I love the view into the backyard, too." Jamie replied. Eddie nodded.
"I love that it's got the privacy fence as well." She replied and they moved towards Emily to check out the rest of the floor and see the bedrooms.
"Wow, they're really nice size rooms." Eddie marveled.
"Yeah, they're really nice," Emily added, "the den would be a really nice playroom for the baby, too." Jamie walked in from the den and nodded in agreement.
"It would be." He added as they turned and went up to the second floor. They spread out through the rooms and mentioned the things they particularly liked when they crossed paths.
As they finished looking at the house, they slowly drifted back downstairs and outside. Eddie, Jamie, and Emily all exchanged looks and nodded slightly. This was their house.
"So, how do we feel about this one?" Sarah asked.
"It's perfect, we'd like to make an offer and meet the asking price." Jamie replied.
"Amazing, I will present the offer to the owners and hopefully call you back in a few hours. We may even be able to start the paperwork today." Sarah replied and shook their hands.
"Thank you, so much Sarah." Eddie replied.
"Absolutely, I'll call you shortly." She replied as she got in and drove off.
"Should we go see Pop at the house and let him in on the good news?" Jamie asked.
"Yes!" Emily cheered. Eddie chuckled and nodded as they got in the car to drive the three blocks to Frank and Henry's. They got out and walked up to the side door off the kitchen and let themselves in.
"Pops! You here?" Jamie called out as they walked through the kitchen into the den.
"Hey! To what do I owe the pleasure of this surprise visit?" Henry asked as he hugged the three.
"We were looking at a house a few blocks over and decided to pop by." Eddie replied.
"That's an understatement." Emily quipped. Henry looked at her and raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, we made an offer on it. We may even be able to sign the paperwork by end of day, today." Jamie added.
"Three blocks away? That's incredible." Henry smiled as they all moved to sit down.
"Yeah, it's got six-bedrooms, six-bathrooms, lots of already fenced in yard space, a basically brand new kitchen, and it's perfect. It's a bit of drive for us into work but it'll be worth it." Eddie remarked.
"Yeah, hopefully everything goes smoothly and we can get moved in by the end of the month, and then Eddie will end up going back to work, once we're settled."
"Yeah, I'll be going straight to desk duty instead of having to readjust again after just a few weeks." She replied.
"And the plan is still for Emily to hang out with you while we're at work, right?" Jamie asked.
"Absolutely, she'll even be able to do her school work here when that starts back, since she's going to do the online courses, right?"
"Yeah, she didn't feel ready to go back to school so we're going to do the online homeschool program as long as she wants."
"I really like that I'll be able to move at my own pace, I could even do a whole school year in one semester if I wanted and work towards graduating early. I'm not going to force that, but if I can get it done without overwhelming myself, then that's the plan. But it will also allow me to help more with the baby while everyone is adjusting to that schedule, too." Emily added. Pops nodded.
"And when you go back to work after the baby is born, the plan is still for him or her to join Em and I, correct?" Henry asked Eddie.
"Absolutely." She replied.
The four sat around and chatted about future plans and moving forward with everything until Eddie's phone rang.
"It's Sarah," She told Jamie before answering, "Hello?"
"Eddie, it's Sarah. I just got off the phone with owners of the house and they are more than ready to get the paperwork signed today if you and Jamie are ready to move forward."
"Absolutely, we can meet you at your office in twenty minutes, does that work?"
"It does. I'll have everything ready by the time you get here." Eddie thanked her and hung up.
"I take it that means we are going to sign the paperwork?" Jamie asked.
"Yep. She said she'll have it ready before we get there." The three stood and hugged Henry before turning to leave.
"Hey, Pops, can you keep this quiet until Sunday? We'll tell everyone then."
"Absolutely, now go sign those papers." They nodded and headed over to Sarah's office. Once they arrive they get out and walk into her office.
"Hello again. Shall we get started?" Sarah asked as she led them into the conference room.
"Yes," Eddie replied as they sat at the table across from Sarah.
"Wonderful, I have marked all of the places where you need to sign, and while you read through everything and sign it, I am going to gather the paperwork for the owners to sign, they should be here very shortly and in about two weeks, you should have the keys in your hands."
"Alright, thank you, Sarah," Jamie replied as he read through the legal terms, Eddie knowing that she wouldn't understand it let him take control over this step.
When he was done reading through it and was satisfied that everything was in order, he picked up a pen and signed on one of the lines at each of the markers Sarah placed on the paperwork. He pushed the paperwork to Eddie and handed her the pen.
After she signed it as well Sarah came back to collect the paperwork and make a copy for Jamie and Eddie to keep. She gave it to them on their way out and congratulated them.
Four days later, they walked into Sunday dinner after church on Sunday with the plan to tell everyone about the house. Emily and Eddie spent most of their time packing up the house while Jamie was at work and they were completely packed and just waiting to get the keys so they could change the locks on the house and move in.
Once everyone was seated they and eating conversation topics varied as they all filled each other in on their weeks when Eddie was getting antsy and struggling to sit still and Henry noticed her squirming and chuckled.
"You know, you wouldn't be so antsy if you'd just tell 'em." Eddie's head snapped up and she met his eyes with a smile.
"We will, Pop." She replied.
"Are we missing something?" Frank asked curiously.
"Eddie and signed on a house a fe days ago." Jamie added after a moment.
"Seriously?!" Erin asks excitedly.
"Congratulations!" Linda pipes in.
"Where?" Danny asks.
"Yeah, it's actually only three blocks from here." Eddie answered.
"Really?" Nicky asked, "Cool."
"Yeah, it's awesome." Emily added excitedly. Eddie chuckled and nodded at her daughter.
"It is, it's got six-bedrooms, six-bathrooms, lots of already fenced in yard space, a basically brand new kitchen, and it's perfect. It's a bit of drive for us into work but it'll be worth it. And with all that space, we'll be able to stay for awhile, at least."
The family spent the rest of the night talking about the house and eventually broke off as it came time to leave. Soon, the three made it home and having been exhausted from a long week, went straight to bed when they got in.
