Episode 5: The Secret of Yugi Revealed

Yugi had woken up to head to school that very morning. It was Friday, and he was looking forward to seeing everyone again. He had gotten his school clothes on and was heading down the stairs, getting some breakfast for the day. It had already been a week since the events of what happened at the arcade, and even though things seemed to have settled down, Yugi wanted to discuss when and where the group could hang out again on their day off. "Morning Grandpa." Yugi called out as he walked into the kitchen. His guardian was already at the table, eating some toast and having a cup of coffee while he was holding the newspaper.

Sugaroku looked up from the paper to see his grandson coming in as he started making himself breakfast. "Good morning, Yugi." The high schooler put some bread in the toaster, wanting something light to eat. "Do you have enough money for lunch today?"

"Yeah, I got it in my bag." Yugi assured. As he was waiting for his toast to get done, he walked up to his grandfather's side and checked over the paper. "What are you reading, grandpa?" Yugi asked.

Sugaroku smiled as he opened the folds for better reading access. "Ah, one of my archeologist friends was on a dig in Egypt recently. And it seems he and his team have come back to Japan with some of the treasures they dug up."

"Really?" Yugi looked at the printing more closely. "This paper is nearly a week old…" He noted, for it was the date that he left for the arcade with his friends.

"Well, they only covered the news then… but they spent the rest of the week getting the new exhibit ready."

Upon hearing that, Yugi raised a brow. "Exhibit?"

Sugaroku smiled. "Yep, all those treasures they found are going to be on display in the renovated Egyptian section. It should be on full display tomorrow in the Domino Museum."

Yugi's eyes began to widen as they lit up like Christmas bulbs. "Really?" Sugaroku knew how much his grandson loved ancient findings. Then again, when you are related to an archeologist who has told such stories since you were a child, anyone would have been interested. However, Egypt was Yugi's favorite culture out of all of the ones his grandfather would tell him. The Millenium Puzzle around his neck proved that.

"I spoke with him last night," Sugaroku explained. "He said that he would be able to get us a tour of the new exhibit free of charge."

"He can?!" Yugi was even more excited with the possibility of being able to explore the new exhibit that the museum had to offer.

Sugaroku nodded. "Actually, why don't you ask your friends if they would be interested in coming along?" He offered. "I'm sure they may be fascinated by history, and I can let him know so he can save spots for all of us."

Yugi couldn't help but agree to the idea. It would be nice to hang out with everyone again, and at a museum nonetheless. Hopefully it would be a great step up from the games and it would be nice just to be with everyone and not have to worry about bullies or thieves. The highschooler nodded, smiling at his grandfather. "Can I borrow the paper?" He asked, needing the newspaper to show everyone to get them involved.

The elder laughed, handing the newspaper to his grandson. "Alright, it's a week old anyways. Let me know who will be coming so I can tell my friend."

"Thanks grandpa! I better be off then!" Yugi folded the article and placed it in his pocket. When he did, he started to make a bolt out of the kitchen to head to the front door.

"Yugi, aren't you forgetting something?" Sugaroku stopped him just in time as the toast had popped from the machine. Yugi looked to see the breakfast ready, knowing he would have to eat before he could actually go anywhere.

"An exposition of Egyptian Archeology?!" Jounouchi repeated. Yugi had managed to gather Jounouchi, Anzu, Honda, Cosmo and Miho in the classroom before the first period began. He informed them about the excavation that his grandfathers' friend had gone on and had returned what they dug up to the museum in Domino. Anzu was the one holding the paper to show everyone as Yugi was explaining the situation.

Anzu especially held up the page revealing the two main leads of the excavation. "It looks like they discovered a tomb in the Valley of the Kings." She noted, checking out the headline.

"So it's going to be on full display starting tomorrow?" Cosmo asked, trying to get a peak of the newspaper.

"Yeah, my grandfather said that the archeologist who found the tomb can get us in for free as a favor." Yugi assured the group. "So we can spend the day there and look around."

"It sounds really interesting. We all should go!" Miho cheered, clearly excited.

"It does sound like a great weekend activity." Anzu agreed, keeping her eyes on the article.

Cosmo nodded in agreement. "I can't believe they are finally adding onto the Egyptian exhibit at the Museum. I've been meaning to go there for so long, and this would be the perfect opportunity!"

"You're really into this kind of stuff, huh?" Honda noted as he seemed indifferent about the matter. While Jounouchi seemed to keep his mouth shut, he was not too fond of the idea either.

Cosmo blushed, starting to feel a bit embarrassed as she fiddled with her fingers. "I always thought Egypt was so mysterious and romantic… the culture was so fascinating and a lot of its history has influenced us."

Anzu's eyes drifted over to the shortest male of the group, most noticeable the object hanging around his neck. "Speaking of which, wasn't your puzzle found in Egypt as well, Yugi?"

Yugi looked down at the artifact that he had pieced together for almost a decade. "Oh, yeah… the Millenium Puzzle."

"Although, if I remember correctly… didn't your grandfather mention something about most of the archeologists who found it died of mysterious causes?" All eyes were on Yugi now as Anzu mentioned that fact. It was the first time everyone else had heard about that history of the Millenium Puzzle, so naturally they would all be either curious or judgemental upon the information.

Jounouchi especially, was the most freaked out as he turned his whole body to Yugi. His eyes were shrunken into his sockets and his body went stiff. "Are you serious!? Yugi, you aren't like cursed or anything, are you?"

"Of course not!" Yugi declared without any hesitation. He had a feeling Anzu would bring that information to light, but he rather not have told everyone about it because he knew they would have likely freaked out. Even though there was nothing to worry about… at least, that's what Yugi thought. His hand gripped the bottom of the puzzle, keeping his eye on the golden object that hung around his neck. There was another piece of information he did not tell his friends, because it was one not even her could explain. 'Although… ever since I solved the puzzle, I have been suffering from lapses in my memory. I know it's weird, but I better not tell everyone or they will worry more.' Yugi was scared that if they found out about it, they would truly believe he had some strange magic on him, and would most likely stay away. It was something Yugi wished he knew what the cause was, but he was clueless. Perhaps the exhibit at the museum would provide him with a hint? The only way he would know for sure was to go there.

"Hey look! They found a mummy." Honda pointed out as he grabbed the paper, showing the picture of the decayed corpse in the coffin.

Jounouchi jumped, seeing what Honda was presenting to him. A sweatdrop appeared at the side of his head, as his eyes were glued to the image. "A...A mummy?" The blond turned away from the paper, closing his eyes and trying to compose himself.

Honda noticed this, becoming concerned about the matter. "What's the matter with you? Are you afraid of mummies and curses?"

"Of course not!" Despite that answer, Honda and everyone else were still unconvinced.

However, Honda was thinking of something completely different. As he looked over at the picture of the corpse, his brain came up with an idea. 'A mummy… could it be… perhaps this could be interesting.' He smiled as his eyes wandered over to Miho, who was talking with the other four students in the room. He imagined the mummy suddenly coming to life in the museum, causing Miho to freak out and scream in fear. She would end up running into Honda's arms, as he embraced her. 'Miho, you have nothing to fear. I promise to protect you, even if it costs me my life!'

She would look up at him, her eyes wide and frightened. At his words, however she would suddenly feel at ease. 'You're so brave and strong, Honda…' This would be a great opportunity to try and make Miho see his love for her. Thinking about it made his smile draw to the corner of his ears, as he laughed inwardly. "Alright! Let's go to the Egyptian Exhibit!" Honda cheered, raising his hand up in the air.

"Then how about we go tomorrow?" Anzu suggested.

"But tomorrow is Saturday, isn't it?" Miho asked.

"There's a teacher meeting tomorrow, so afternoon classes will be cancelled." Cosmo explained.

"Then it's decided! Tomorrow, at 1pm, we'll all meet at the museum! Anzu declared

Yugi giggled, as his excitement was growing at the thought. "It's going to be cool!" He told himself, wondering what the next day would bring for the group.

And so, the day arrived. Yugi had informed his grandfather about who was coming to the museum, and Sugaroku made sure to inform his friend. During the morning, everyone went to class as usually, until it was time to break for lunch. The lunch break was when everyone was free to leave school and head home. Some stayed to get a quick meal from the cafeteria, since they still catered, but many were planning on either picking something up on the way home or would make something once they were at their houses. As the final class was wrapping up, Yugi met with the group. They had informed their guardians about the museum, and everyone was able to go.

They figured they could just head to the museum since it was almost noon and it would be a while to get there. They wouldn't even change out of their school uniforms, figuring it would just be a waste to head to their homes and change when they could just go together. Yugi was all for it, and agreed to lead everyone to the museum. His grandfather promised to meet them there, since he had to be sure to know when his friend would be able to come to give the tour. Yugi was a bit worried about his grandpa going on his own, but he figured it was better to just meet up rather than having to pick him up. Plus Sugaroku was in good health, so Yugi had no real reason to worry.

It took them about forty minutes to get from the school to the museum, being mindful of traffic due to the fact many of the students were getting out of school. They managed to reach the top of the stairs leading into the historical building, where Mr. Mutou was waiting for them. "Ah, looks like everyone is finally here."

Yugi smiled at his grandfather as he stepped up with the group following him. "I hope we aren't too late."

"Not at all, earlier than what you all were planning." Mr. Mutou assured his grandson. "Anyways, the professor should be arriving here soon so we can begin the tour."

"This is gonna be so fun!" Miho cheered.

"I haven't been here in a few years. I'm kind of excited." Anzu admitted as she looked up to the building.

They didn't have to wait as long as they believed, as a male voice called out to the eldest of the group. "Sugaroku!" Everyone looked over to see a man approaching up on the steps. He had on a forest green suit with a yellow shirt underneath, making him look professional. He had black eyes and charcoal gray hair that was smooth and ran to the back of his neck, along with a sideburn beard and a lampshade style mustache. When he approached, he greeted the elder Mutou first. "Sorry to keep you waiting." He apologized.

"Nonsense, we all just got here. We can't thank you enough for the invitation." Sugaroku assured his friend. He then pointed to the man as he looked over at the highschoolers. "Everyone, this is our tour guide and my friend, Professor Yoshimori."

"Professor?" Anzu and Miho asked in unison.

Yoshimori nodded. "I have taught history and archaeology at Domino University for nearly eight years now." Everyone awed at that information, proving how capable the man was for this excavation.

"So you not only teach the subject, but go exploring as well?" Honda asked. "That's true dedication."

Sugaroku noticed someone else approaching behind Yoshimori, he looked at the newcomer with wide eyes. "Is that person…?"

The guy that came up to the Professor was much shorter and fat built. He had on a bright yellow suit with a pink striped undershirt and red bow tie. He had silvery gray hair on his sides with bushy eyebrows and a walrus styled mustache. The most noticeable features of this man was his big nose and beady black eyes. "Ah yes, this is the keeper and organizer of the museum's exhibits, as well as the sponsor for the digs that were done in Egypt." Yoshimori explained.

"Welcome to my musume. I'm Mr. Kanekura." The guy introduced himself.

Yugi recognized him as being by Professor Yoshimori's side during the photograph that was in the newspaper. The two of them were pretty pleased about what they had discovered, no doubt happy to share it to the world. Yugi was getting more and more anxious to head into the building to see the new discoveries himself. He put on a smile as he wondered what he would see inside. He got distracted from his thoughts as he looked from the corner of his eyes, catching a flash of something reflecting from the sun. He looked over, believing to have seen a silhouette of someone. However, when he turned back, he saw nothing but the greeny that surrounded the building. "Yugi, is something the matter?" Cosmo asked him, seeing how his eyes were scanning the area.

"I… thought I saw someone." Yugi explained.

Cosmo looked around with him, but didn't see anyone. "Were you mistaken?"

Yugi seemed confused. "I guess it was just a random person… probably nothing serious." He tried to assure himself more than Cosmo. The green haired girl was still confused, as Yugi was still looking around to try and find the person he believed he saw.

"By the way Sugaroku," Professor Yoshimori continued. "You told me about your grandson. The one that solved something called the Millenium Puzzle?"

"Oh, that's right." Sugaroku perked up, which caused Yugi to look over at the Professor and the Museum owner.

"You must be Yugi then." Yoshimori noted, looking over the young high schooler.

Kanekura turned to see the shortest of the group, going closer as his eyes landed on the golden artifact that was hanging around Yugi's neck. "So this is the rumored Millennium Puzzle?!" Kanekura reached out, grabbing the object and holding it in his large hands, while Yugi was pulled back by the rope that hung around him. "It's splendid! A true cultural treasure that represents Egypt!" He commented, looking over every angle and point of the Puzzle

"Mr. Kanekura is as much an expert as a fanatic when it comes to the value of artifacts." Yoshimori explained. Yugi grabbed onto the Puzzle, pulling it and himself back as he got onto his footing. However, Kanekura didn't want to end it there.

"Yugi, would you allow me to show your puzzle as part of the exhibit?" Yugi was caught off guard by this question, looking at him in slight confusion. "It would tie in with the theme and it will be a great memory for you and your friends!" Kanekura suggested. "Please Yugi, I beg of you." He bowed, trying desperately to get the answer he so desired.

Yugi seemed not at all enthused about the idea. 'I don't really want to part with the Millenium Puzzle though,' he thought to himself. 'It's my treasure and I worked hard… but it wouldn't be right to flat out refuse. After all, he is allowing us to see this new exhibit without any administration. And it would only be for the day, just until the exhibit closes at 4:30…' As much as Yugi was against it, he couldn't say no despite his gut telling him to. It was just for today and he would be sure to get it back. As well as being able to get a photo of it with everyone else, it was a pretty good deal.

"Well, alright. But only for today." Yugi reluctantly agreed.

Kanekura looked up at Yugi, with those small, black eyes. "R-really? Thank you so much, Yugi!" Without giving him a chance, the founder took the Puzzle off of the kid gently and held it in his hands. "I'll make sure to take good care of it!" Kanekura promised. "I'll go set it up, you all start without me." He assured, walking into the building with the object in hand. Yugi watched him go, still having an uneasy feeling in his stomach. However, he had to ignore it for now. They came here to have a good time and that is what they were going to do.

"So, can we head in to see the mummies now?" Honda asked.

"Let's go, let's go!" Miho cheered as they were both excited for the tour to begin.

The professor smiled and nodded. "Alright, follow me." Yoshimori walked into the building as the rest of the group followed. He led them down a few hallways on the first floor before taking a left turn over to the Egyptian Exhibit. That was when they were transported into the past of the culture. Many artifacts were encased in glass as they decorated the huge rooms. From statues of historical royalties, to scriptures that told the history of the country, The students and elder were in awe, amazed by the treasures that were dug up within the sands of Egypt.

"Incredible!" Miho gushed, as she was most interested in the jewelry that was on display in the cases. "Anzu! Look at this necklace over here!" She gestured to a golden necklace, with a bird on either side of a large red gemstone. "The ruby is bigger than the birds!" Her eyes went wide as she stared at the necklace, imagining herself wearing it.

"Miho, calm down, you're drooling." Anzu pointed out as she looked at the lavender haired girl. Miho wiped her mouth and sighed. "But it is a pretty necklace, I'll give you that." Anzu admitted.

Sugaroku came up to the glass himself as he offered a fun fact to the girls. "You know, rubies were said to hold protective qualities in many legends and lore around the world. It was said that the gem could become darkened if the wearer is in danger. This is why many nobility tended to encrust their goblets with rubies to warn them if the drink was poisoned."

"Really?" Anuz was surprised with that information.

"But, they were also seen to be very beautiful gemstones as well. However, only those with a high amount of money could afford them. Which was why only those of high status or royalty were seen wearing them." Sugaroku added. "In fact, based on the size of the birds and the emerald circles above them, I would have to guess that this necklace was made for a woman. Specifically, a queen."

"Really?" Miho squealed, picturing an Egyptian queen wearing such a gorgeous piece of jewelry.

"But what makes you say that?" Anzu had to know more.

Sugaroku was about to speak, only for the shy Cosmo to step up. "Because of the emeralds and the ruby." She began to explain, looking at the gems engraved with the gold. "In Egyptian culture, the people believed emeralds to be a source of eternal life, and considered a gift from Thoth who was the god of wisdom and associated with the moon, a planet being mostly seen as a feminine power. And both stones tend to represent a type of love. While the ruby is the primary color of love and passion, the emerald was considered a stone of such because of its green color, representing new beginnings and eternal relationships. It was said that emeralds represent a faithful relationship and strong natural connection with a partner. So while the ruby is known for passionate love, the emerald is a stone to represent faithfulness along with deep and mature love."

Miho, Anzu and Sugaroku stared at the green haired girl. When she looked over and saw them staring at her, she blushed and turned her face away. "S-sorry… I didn't mean to take over the conversation…"

"Eh? Oh no! We were just shocked by it all." Anzu tried to assure her as she waved her hands in defense.

"How do you know such things?" Miho wondered.

Cosmo rubbed the back of her neck, smiling shyly. "My aunt who lives in America runs a gemstone shop, where she crafts jewelry made of stone and gems. She taught me the meaning behind every stone before I moved here with my immediate family."

Sugaroku hummed, crossing his arms over his chest. "Your aunt really knows her gems then." He noted with a grin.

"But still, it's hard to believe that this necklace was once buried deep in a tomb." Anzu pointed out as the group kept walking with Professor Yoshimori leading them.

"So, do all of these treasures you dug up belong to you guys as well as the museum?" Jounouchi asked, looking over the statues and fashion.

"No. Originally, the people that dug up the treasures were entitled to half of the findings as part of their profit. However, in 1921, every finding is housed in the museum, but is property of the state it was discovered in. Which means that all of these artifacts belong only to Egypt, but this museum can house them and display them to the public." Yoshimori explained.

"That is why when the team that found Tutanhkhamen's tomb in 1922, none of them could even keep a small amount of the artifacts discovered." Grandpa Mutou elaborated as he was seeing a statue of a hound with Yugi by his side.

"And here I thought archaeologists were just shallow people who only sought out the treasure." Yugi admitted, looking over his grandfather.

"Hey, what's that supposed to say about me?" Sugaroku questioned his grandson, as he chuckled nervously.

"Archeology is a thankless job that gives those a decent amount to live on. However, nothing can compare to the indescribable happiness tied to the moment when you discover history and learn more about the past." Yoshimori explained. "It's what I consider to be the best part of this craft."

"You really are after romance and adventure before money." Sugaroku looked over at his friend.

The professor gave a laugh, agreeing with him. "Just like you did."

"Wow! Look at this!" Anzu called the attention of everyone. Her eyes scanned the carvings of some hylogryphics, involving a human with a dog head, a normal person and a scale between the two. "It's so cool." The brunette noted as she looked over the canvas.

"Ah, this is a mythical telling regarding the judgement of the dead." Sugaroku noted as he looked over the carving.

"Judgement of the dead?" Jounouchi repeated.

"Yes, it was stated that after death, the souls of the deceased would wind up in Duat, the realm of the dead where Orisis ruled over. Kings and commoners would journey through the various realms to pass a variation of demons and challenges just to be judged. This scripture depicts the 'Weighing of the heart'. The scale was used as a way to weigh the heart of the deceased by Anubis. He used the feather of Maat, which represented truth and justice." As the Professor explained, Yugi leaned in closer to the painting, being mesmerized by the story behind the carvings. "Those that were lighter than the feather would pass the most important test, and would be allowed to travel toward Aaru, "The Field of Rushes" which was said to be an ideal version of the world with an abundance of crops. However, if any heart was heavier than the feather, the souls were rejected and eaten by Ammit, the devourer of souls. She was the demoness and goddess with the body parts of a lion, hippopotamus and crocodile. Those that lived a life of sin, were said to have been her meal."

The group could even imagine the monster roaring in hunger, spreading fear and terror amongst the dead. "It's kind of scary…" Miho shuddered, thinking about it herself.

"It doesn't sound so bad. If you lived a good and pure life, you seemed safe." Honda noted.

"Only those that made others suffer and committed terrible acts were the ones that would be eaten." Yoshimori assured. "Now then, how about we head to the mummies?" He suggested, trying to change the subject.

"Mummies? You mean they're actually here?" Jounouchi shuddered, starting to get a bit nervous.

Honda on the other hand was all too excited, as he could only imagine holding Miho in his arms. They headed into the other room, where a full corpse in faded out clothing was seen in a sarcophagus, as it's arms were crossed over the chest. The moment that Miho saw it, she screamed and took a step back. This was the moment Honda had been waiting for. "Finally." He closed his eyes, opening his arms wide. "Don't worry Miho! Jump in my arms for me to protect you." Honda called out, as he felt a body press up against his chest. He held it, believing it to have been Miho.

"It's so cute!" Miho squealed. Honda opened his eyes, baffled by hearing her voice. He looked over, seeing her with Anzu staring at the mummy encased in glass.

"Just what are you thinking?" Anzu looked over at her, believing her to be crazy for a moment.

"Because the shaved head and the wrinkles remind me of a newborn baby." Miho explained, smiling.

Honda looked down to his chest, wondering who it was that he was holding instead of his crush. To his disappointment, it was Jounouchi that was holding onto his friend. The blond was shuddering within Honda's grasp. "I feel awful all of a sudden… I think it's the mummy's curse…"

"How long are you going to hold me?!" Honda shoved Jounouchi off of him, causing the blond to be pushed straight into the glass and coming face to face with the corpse. The moment that Jounouchi looked at the decayed figure, his whole face went pale as he had a look of pure horror on him. He squealed in fright, turning back to everyone as he tried to keep himself together.

"Let's get out of here quickly before we get cursed by this thing!" Jounouchi began shoving Miho and Anzu out of the room, much to their protest. They tried getting away from the blond, but he kept pushing them out. Honda was already gone as were the professor and Yugi's grandpa. Leaving only Cosmo and Yugi himself in the room with the encased mummy.

"I always thought of Jounouchi-kun as such a tough and serious guy. I never would have imagined he would be scared of corpses wrapped up in bandages." Cosmo couldn't help but chuckle at Jounouchi's overreaction to the situation.

Yugi couldn't help but laugh a bit as well. "I knew he freaked out a bit with the mention of curses, but I didn't think he would seem terrified out about it. I never really took him for the type to believe in that stuff. If I had told him the Millennium Puzzle was cursed before I put it together, I bet he wouldn't have tossed it around like that before." Yugi stated, imaging Jounouchi handing the box with the puzzle inside so quickly, upon learning that it was holding a terrible curse. Cosmo looked over at Yugi with a tilted head, confused about his statement. He realized she probably didn't know what he was talking about, so he tried to change the subject. "It's uh… a long story… Still, he doesn't seem to be bothered by anything else in here."

"Probably because he knows that those statues won't come back from the dead to chase after him." She joked, making her and Yugi laugh. "We better catch up to the others, shall we?"

Yugi waved his hand at her. "You go on ahead, I want to get a closer look at the mummy." Yugi offered. "I'll catch up soon." Cosmo nodded, walking away to meet up with everyone else. Yugi looked back at the mummy in the case, staring at it in awe. It was hard to believe that at one point, this was a living person and most likely someone of high royalty. As Yugi took a bit to look at it, he could hear footsteps approach his side. He turned around to notice someone had stepped up to look at the mummy. He was a man of tan skin, with soulless blue eyes marked with black eyeliner and golden hooped earrings. He had around his head a white turban that had a white feather in the folds. His only clothing was of a white robe with a cloak. In his hand, he held what appeared to have been a golden scale, though Yugi didn't pay too much attention to the detail of that item. For as he looked up at the man, he began to cry streams of tears that ran down his cheeks.

Yugi deducted that this man must have been Egyptian, due to his outfit and his looks. Though he was confused about why the man was crying all of a sudden. Was it because of the display? "Why are you crying, sir?" Yugi had to ask, making sure that the man was alright at least.

"These are not my tears." The Egyptian responded in a chilling voice. "This person's appearance has been reduced to dried skin and bone. And yet, the soul of a great Pharaoh will remain in this case, instead of his eternal resting place. He will forever be a puppet put on display for all these people now. As I confront him here, the sadness and longing of his soul passes on to me, so his tears become mine." Yugi wasn't exactly sure what the Egyptian was going on about. To him, it sounded like nonsense at first. However, thinking about it more clearly, it would make sense that perhaps this man was upset about seeing a great king from his country in such a state. It must make sense, seeing as how olden his appearance looked.

Yugi looked back at the scale in the man's hands, seeing the golden plates and the center holding an eye similar to the one on his Millennium Puzzle. 'He's carrying a weird scale… He's kind of strange.' Yugi thought to himself. He may not be much of a judge on character, but there was something off about this man. Something… unnatural.

Yugi soon felt a hand on his head, rubbing his hair like he was a dog. The Egyptian stopped his crying, and smiled as he looked at the high schooler. "You're a nice boy." The Egyptian then took his hand away and started to walk off.

"B-Boy?!" Yugi watched the back of the man as he raised a non-threatening fist in the air. "I'm in high school!" He shouted, but the Egyptian just walked off. Yugi's anger faded into bewilderment as he watched the man go. "What a weird Egyptian." He muttered to himself. With that scene out of the way, Yugi decided it was time to find the rest of the group and continue the tour. He hustled and looked for his friends, who were about to enter another room.

"Ah, Yugi, glad you could make it." Honda smiled at the shortest boy.

"Sorry for keeping you waiting…" Yugi sighed.

"Nah, we were just waiting for Jounouchi to calm down." Anzu pointed over to the blond, who was blushing like crazy.

"I wasn't scared! I was just making sure the girls didn't get freaked out." He told everyone.

"Oh yes, because Miho and I were so scared of the mummy giving us a curse." Anzu sarcastically mocked. Jounouchi glared at Anzu as he raised a fist towards her, but she only stuck out her tongue and pulled the skin under her eye down to tease him more. Yugi and Cosmo continued to chuckle with Honda and Sugaroku, as Miho was just baffled by the situation.

"Now then, there is just one more room that is part of the Egyptian exhibit." Yoshimori stated as he began to walk to the final open room that was part of the tour. Everyone else followed, wondering what else could be seen that they had not discovered yet. As they approached, they saw more objects encased in glass as Jounouchi noticed Kanekura standing in front of one of the displays with a man in a dark blue suit and glasses. However, the blond paid more attention to what was inside of the glass case rather than what was around it.

"Hey look! Yugi's puzzle is on display over there!" Jounouchi pointed over to the Millenium Puzzle that was hanging from the hook.

"It looks incredible!" Miho exclaimed.

Yugi felt a jolt of joy as he looked over in the direction of where Jounouchi was pointing. "It's right there!"

As the group hurried over to the display, Kanekura escorted the other man away to let the high schoolers see the puzzle. "Wow Yugi, your treasure may get famous because of this exposition." Jounouchi stated.

Yugi laughed at the thought, but it did seem like a pretty cool idea. "Do you really think so?"

"I know," Anzu spoke up. "Let's take a picture as a souvenir to honor this day."

"That's a wonderful idea, Anzu-chan." Cosmo agreed. Anzu searched around, trying to find her phone. As she did, Yugi kept looking at the puzzle through the glass. He really wished he could wear it again, but he had to wait until the museum and the exhibit was over.

"Yugi," The high schooler looked behind him, seeing the professor standing there. "I'm really sorry to have you separated from your Millennium Puzzle."

"It's okay," Yugi tried to assure, but he was sort of lying.

"As much of a treasure hunter as he is, this dig wouldn't have been possible without Mr. Kanekura's help. I owe him so much for his work." Yoshimori stated, looking over at where the yellow suited man was, checking over some of the other artifacts.

Anzu finally managed to get out her phone, looking over at the rest of the group. "Come one everyone. Take your place so we can get the picture!"Anzu urged.

"Anzu-chan, would you like me to take the picture so you can be in the frame?" Cosmo asked the burnette.

"Are you sure?"

Cosmo nodded. "You should be in the picture with Yugi and the others. I don't mind, and it's the least I can do, plus I'm not really much of a photogenic person…" she admitted the last part in a hushed tone.

Anzu smiled at the green haired girl, handing her the phone. "The camera is already on, just click the red circle on the screen." She then hurried over, standing on the left side of the glass with Jounouchi and Yugi as Miho and Honda were on the right. Honda and Yugi gave a peace sign, Miho waved, Anzu made a heart shape with both her hands and Jounouchi only pointed at the puzzle that was hanging there.

"Say cheese!" Cosmo called out, getting the camera ready and then took the picture. Everyone then gathered, taking a look at the image. "I think it turned out really nice." Cosmo commented.

"I'll be sure to print these out so we can each have one." Anzu promised.

"Well, that concludes the tour of the Egyptian Exhibit." Professor Yoshimori gestured.

"Then we better head out." Sugaroku suggested, and everyone headed towards the entrance of the building. They exited the museum, staying together as they were still pretty excited from the small adventure they had.

"That was fun!" Anzu smiled with satisfaction.

"It was really great!" Miho cheered as she held her arms out wide. "Right, Honda?" Miho asked the burnet.

He turned back, forcing a grin on his face. "Y-yeah… sure…" he laughed nervously, then turned around, cursing at himself. 'Damn…' He was pretty disappointed that he didn't get that embrace from Miho, which would have been the highlight of this trip. Jounouchi sighed in relief, glad to have finally gotten out of that cursed filled room.

"Thank you again for the visit and the tour, Yoshimori." Sugaroku thanked the professor.

"Anytime," he smiled at the older man. "Hopefully we can do it again. But I better head back to the university. I'll keep in touch." The Professor waved at everyone else, before he headed out on his way.

"Goodbye!" Yugi called out as everyone else in unison said, "Thank you very much!" Once the Professor was gone, it was up to the rest of the group to decide what to do from then on out.

"So, what should we do now?" Anzu asked.

"I'm going to stay and wait until closing time. I have to get my Puzzle back before I go home." Yugi told everyone.

"Then I'll wait for you at the shop, just don't stay behind for too long." Sugaroku advised.

"Hey Anzu, how about we stop over at the clothing store on our way back? I saw a cute summer dress I wanted to get!" Miho begged.

"You know, when was the last time we played some basketball Honda?" Jounouchi asked the burnet with a smug grin.

"How about we go to the courtyard and play a few rounds?" Honda suggested.

"The loser has to buy lunch for the winner tomorrow at school!" Jounouchi cheered as he and Honda started to head off.

"See you tomorrow!" Yugi called out to the two men.

"Alright Miho, we can go shopping." Anzu gave in. To which, the purple haired girl cheered. The two waved goodbye at Yugi before they headed off. Sugaroku also headed back to the Kame Game Shop, leaving Yugi with Cosmo by his side.

"Cosmo, aren't you going to go home?"

The green haired girl looked at him, then slowly shook her head as she explained. "I told my sisters that I would be out till five, since I figured we'd be at the museum a bit longer. Besides, I figured that we could wait for the Puzzle together." She soon took a seat at the top of the staircase, as Yugi sat by her side. "The museum closes at five, right?"

"Yeah," Yugi looked at the wristwatch on his left wrist. "It's a little half past four, so about thirty minutes now."

"Then I guess we can wait a bit… I'm in no hurry to head home after all…" Cosmo sighed as she looked at the ground. Yugi blinked, hearing such a response from her. Cosmo must have realized what she had said, because her face turned red. She looked back over at the boy and waved her hands frantically. "Uh… no, no that's not what I meant! I don't mean to say I come from a bad or abusive home, it's full of love and care, really. It may not be the biggest of homes, but there are so many of us living there. I have a big family and they all care and love me… but, it can be a bit overwhelming."

"Overwhelming?" Yugi asked, getting curious.

Cosmo nodded, staring down at her knees. "My sisters, especially my oldest one, are very protective of me. We have lived in Japan for a while, but it was only this year I went to a public school. Believe it or not, I have always been conceived as very fragile by some…"

Yugi looked her over, noticing her paler than usual skin and her slender figure. "Well, I will admit you don't strike me as the physically active type."

She nodded, not even disagreeing with him. "But it's because of that overprotectiveness that I found it hard to make any real friends. Don't get me wrong, I love my family and they always make an effort to spend time with me. However, you are the first person I have ever considered… to be my first friend." Cosmo admitted, hugging her knees close to her chest.

When Yugi heard that, he was actually taken aback. He never expected someone to have called him their first friend. Then again, he felt this way when he and Jounouchi patched things up and began hanging out. 'I never realized it before… but Cosmo and I have some common ground with one another. We both were alone and didn't have any friends, and she seems just as shy as I was.' Yugi thought back to those days he would spend either up in his room or playing one person games in the middle of breaks at school. He wanted to have friends, but never found any that stuck with him or liked him for his interests. And though the friends Yugi made may not have been all for games as he was, some of them at least, they still were able to have fun and spend time together. That was all Yugi ever wanted, to be with others his age.

"Well, I'm honored you would think of me as a friend Cosmo. I think of you as one as well." He assured her as he smiled. Cosmo looked over at him, seeing the smile and a faint pink tint crossing her face.

She looked down at the ground, trying to hide her features. "T-Thank you, Yugi…"

"And you don't have to feel so shy around me or the others. The more friends the better. They've pretty much already welcomed you."

The green haired girl fiddled with her fingers for a bit. "I know, they are very kind and I am grateful to consider them friends as well. However, sometimes it feels like I'm intruding on you guys at times."

"Intruding?" Yugi repeated, wondering what she meant by that.

"You guys look like you have been friends for a long time, and you only just recently met me… I just feel like a new addition is all and I don't want to force my way into your circle."

"Eh?" Yugi raised a brow. "I mean, it's true that we have some history, but we didn't really start becoming friends until weeks ago. Jounouchi used to pick on me and he usually only hung out with Honda. Anzu and I were childhood friends but we kind of faded apart. Miho is more of Anzu's friend really, but she is still nice. Yeah, in a way we have known each other before, but we only got really close recently." The young boy looked at his chest, where his Millennium Puzzle would usually hang. A small smile crossed his face, remembering how excited he was to put those pieces together only for one reason. "Actually, we all became closer ever since I finished the puzzle…"

"Your… Millennium Puzzle?" Cosmo asked, making sure they were on the same page.

He nods. "Remember when I was talking about it with Anzu? The day that we met for the first time?"

Cosmo looked up at the sky, trying to remember the event. "Well, I only listened to some of it. I just got there by the time you mentioned how weird Anzu would have found you."

Yugi laughed with embrasement. "Sort of… I mentioned to her that anyone that solved the Puzzle would have their one wish granted. When I learned about that, it gave me even more of a reason to want to complete the Puzzle. Even though it took me eight years, I never gave up."

She looked over at him again, curiosity in her blue eyes. "What exactly did you wish for?"

"Promise you won't laugh?" He asked, getting a bit nervous to come clean. She nodded, waiting for his response. "I wished to be surrounded by friends… or at least one true friend. People that would have been with me and stuck by my side no matter what. Ever since I solved the Puzzle, that wish came true. I know it sounds kind of cheesy, but I was able to make better connections with everyone and we have been hanging out a lot more lately. I don't know if magic or the supernatural actually exists, but I don't want to say that these bonds formed out of nowhere…" Yugi looked over at Cosmo, wondering what her response would be. "I know… it may seem weird, but I like to believe that's how it happened."

"I wasn't judging you," she assured. He blinked at her as she gave a warm smile. "I always believed that magic existed by myself. Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be able to have powers like those magical girls in those shows. I know it may seem childish, but I still think that such magic can exist. Though, probably best not to tell Jounouchi about that wish granting part. If he freaked out about the mummy and the discovery of the Millenium Puzzle, he will have even more reason to think it's cursed." She giggled, still being reminded of how he freaked out over that corpse in the glass.

Yugi couldn't help but chuckle along with her. He then looked down at his watch, seeing that it was ten before five. "Ah! Just ten minutes before closing time." The short high schooler stood up, looking over to the doors. Cosmo got herself up as well.

"Are you okay if I head home? I better get going now so I can make it back before five." She told him.

"Yeah, I'll just be getting my Puzzle back. I'll see you at school on Monday, Cosmo."

She waved at him, starting to head down the stairs. "Later, Yugi." Once she was gone, Yugi entered through the doors and looked around. Many people had already left, no one was anywhere in sight.

"Let's see… where was the room the Puzzle was in?" he looked around, trying to find out where the certain room from the exhibit was. Yugi tried to remember where to go. He went to the left, since that was where he remembered Professor Yoshimori taking the group. He tried to get a look at every object to get familiar with the landmarks. He walked around, looking in every direction to get to the specific room. As he was making his way down many hallways, he felt like he was walking in circles. When he left a certain room, he walked down a few halls only to come back to it. "Geez, this museum is really like a maze. I should have paid more attention to where we were going instead of the artifacts." He sighed. He was on his own, as he walked around the rooms. No one was there to help him in the right direction, so he had to do everything all alone. At least the lights were still on, otherwise Yugi would have been slightly crept out.

"Maybe I should have had Cosmo stay with me… would have been easier to navigate if someone helped me." He sighed. He kept walking, certain that eventually he would get to the room he had to be in. His luck seemed to have been turning once he had noticed a certain piece of jewelry resting on a cushion. The big ruby with the chickens around a necklace! "Miho's necklace!" Yugi gasped, then turned to follow more of the scriptures and the statues until he got to a very specific one. "The judging of the dead!" He smiled. "That means I just have to find the mummies and I will be in the same room as the Millenium Puzzle." He was so close, after all that walking he was glad to have gotten somewhere. The young boy looked over at the painting that represented the judging of the deceased. He never got that good of a look of it, and when he did… he felt strange. His lavender eyes scanned the painting, checking it over. He squinted his eyes, looking at each individual image and piece of writing. It felt so familiar, and yet he never saw this before. Yugi couldn't quite figure it out, but there was something about it that made his heart ache. As he looked at it for a much longer time, he suddenly felt his mind jolt of some sort of impulse. He gasped, the world around him fading into a bright light and white was all he could see.

The young man scoffed, annoyed as he was fiddling with golden pieces. He was attempting to put them together, but the puzzle was only half completed. His frustration was getting the better of him as he tossed the partly finished golden pyramid like puzzle onto the soft sheets of where he laid. "Damn it!" He cursed as he gritted his teeth. "Why can't I solve this puzzle?" It had been two months since the young man attempted to try and take on the traditional challenge of solving the puzzle to wear around one's neck. A symbol to represent the new ruler of the country his family had been kings and queens over for many years. With magenta eyes, he looked at the puzzle that was not fully completed yet. "This Millennium Puzzle is proof of a Pharaoh's power. When one passes away, it shatters itself for the next generation to be tested."

The young prince rubbed the back of his neck, knowing he wouldn't be getting anywhere at this rate. He had been at the Puzzle for days on end now and it was getting to him. He had to finish it within that year, no matter what. With another sigh, he hoped off of the bed and straightened out his clothing. Even without the Puzzle around his neck, he was still the rightful king of this land. Perhaps a break would do him some good, a bit of fresh air and a walk would help clear his mind. The young man walked out of his room, leaving the project on the bed as he made his way down many brick walls with paintings. Passing by columns of gold holding the structure of his home. He only looked straight ahead, doing all he could to take his mind off of the challenge.

"My Pharaoh!" The young man turned, looking in the direction of a man coming towards him. He had dark skin, showing off much of his chest with only a white sash coming down from his left shoulder onto a belt of gold and blue fabric. He had on bracelets on his wrist and upper arm, as well as a thick chained golden necklace. He wore a long white tunic that reached just above his feet, as his straight black hair reached to his shoulders with a golden ring crown on his head.

"What is it, Karim?" The young man asked as he looked into the other's dark blue eyes.

"I apologize for bothering you, your highness." Karim bowed to the superior one of the two.

The so called Pharaoh only waved his hand. "Do not worry, I was just taking a break anyways. What is it you need?"

Karim stood back up and began to explain. "There was a servant that had broken some of the statues and vases. We apprehended him and plan on sending him to the dungeon to interrogate him. I figured you should know."

A servant? The Pharaoh was not at all surprised. After all, many servants tended to be clumsy and break certain objects now and again. Though that rarely happened as of late, and usually they weren't too damaged. At first, he thought nothing of it. The Pharaoh only wanted to take a walk and get his mind off of the Puzzle. Then again… perhaps a bit of entertainment would be an even better distraction. "Do you still have the servant?" Karim blinked, taken aback by the question but he gave a nod. The Pharaoh smirked, an idea forming in his head. "Bring him to the throne room, I want you and Shada present."

"Shall I get the other priests?" Karim asked.

"No, just you two. And make sure you bring your items." Pharaoh ordered as he made his way through the halls. He opened two double doors, going into a very large room. Pillars of gold and decorated with colors lined the room, with many statues and vases on the far end of the walls. On the other side, laid a golden chair that was three times as big as the normal person. He walked over, seeing many other men and women bowed as he walked passed. Once he had gotten to the chair, he sat upon it as his hands rested on the arms of the throne. He did not have to wait long as the two priests came into the room, followed by two guards that walked alongside a man that had his hands tied in front of him. Karim walked up to the throne, standing by the Pharaoh's side. While another man approached on the other end. He was as dark skinned as Karim and the Pharaoh, as he wore a long dress tunic to his feet, with a golden belt around his waist. The upper part had no sleeves, revealing his arms that had many golden bracelets around them. A hooded cloak covered his head, only showing his dull blue eyes, hooped earrings and his face.

"We brought the man as you requested." Karim told his king.

"What shall we do with him, your highness?" The other man, Shada, asked.

The Pharaoh looked at the one that was chained up, he was shaking like a leaf as he wore only a simple kilt and a bracelet on his right arm. He didn't say anything, just holding onto his piece of clothing as tightly as he could. The Pharaoh smirked as he looked between the two. "We are going to judge this man." The Pharaoh declared. Everyone looked at him, speechless at first. "I want to make sure whether him knocking over my artifacts was in fact an accident."

Karim and Shada looked at one another, unsure at first. They looked over at the so-called servant, who was shaking like a leaf. The two priests nodded at the Pharaoh. "Leave the rest to us." Karim assured. "Shada, use your Millennium Ankh." The cloaked one nodded, turning in the direction of the chained man. Around his neck was a golden ankh, it glowed as it was in the direction of the servant. Karim approached, taking a white feather from his cloak and set it on the right side of the pan.

"This will be considered a Shadow Game, where if you lose, something of value will be taken from you." The Pharaoh warned the servant on trail. "If we find you not guilty, you may walk freely. The rules are simple, I will ask you three questions, if you answer them honestly, the side with the feather will sink. However, lie and the side that is empty will sink. If the side without the feather hits the ground, you will lose." He looked over at Karim, who set the base of the scale down. "Now then, shall we begin?"

Shada and Karim nodded, looking at the servant. The Pharaoh began his challenge. "First question: You stumble upon a traveler on the road. They were clearly attacked as they lay in the sand, beaten and bruised. They beg for your help. However, beside the traveler is a bag full of golden trinkets. So, what do you do in this situation?" The Pharaoh asked, looking over at Shada for a moment as the golden Ankh around his neck was glowing.

The servant moved slightly closer, staring at the Pharaoh with wavering eyes as sweat poured from the side of his head. "I would help the traveler!" That was his answer, the one that was right. However, Karim looked at the scale as the pan that had nothing on it began to sink closer to the base. This caused only the servant to gasp in shock. "W-what?! B-but I wasn't lying! I swear!"

The Pharaoh did not make a comment on such an action, he only continued with his second question. "Next question: You walk into town in the hopes of getting some bread fresh from the market. However, you do not have enough to purchase even a quarter of a loaf. As you go into the stall, you see that the baker is nowhere to be seen with some freshly baked bread on the table. What do you do next?"

The servant swallowed bile in his throat, wondering if this was some sort of trick. He knew that the Pharaoh wanted the right answer, and he had to give it to him. "I would leave the bakery! I can't afford the bread and without anyone there I can't even pay for it." It should have been the answer the Pharaoh wanted to hear. But it was not enough, for the scale put more invisible weight on the empty pan. Again, the servant gasped as he saw that the scale had caught him lying.

"That is twice you have lied, once more and you will be delivered punishment." The Pharaoh warned.

"B...But why?!" The servant became more nervous as he saw how close the empty pan was to the ground. "I didn't lie! I swear! This has to be some sort of trick! There's no way this can be right!"

"Final question," the Pharaoh didn't even give him time to answer his claim as he wanted to finish this trail to get to the good part. "You snuck into the palace, claiming to be a servant but in reality, you were only here to take something from me. You attempted to collect the riches from my palace, am I correct?"

"N-No! Of course not! Please Pharaoh, I beg of you!" The servant pleaded, trying his best to act innocent. It was all in vain, as the empty pan fell to the floor. Karim and Shada looked at one another, nodding as they turned to the one on trial.

The man on the throne stood up, walking over to the peasant on the floor. "Clearly your soul bears no honesty or humility. You have lost the game, and therefore you must be punished." The man shuddered, watching the Pharaoh getting closer to him. He feared for his life, his forehead dripping sweat as believed he would die right then and there. A smile graced the lips of the king as he looked down at the man. "Do not think of me as Anubis… I said you would lose something if you lost this game, I never specified it was your life."

Upon hearing that, the man froze in curiosity. "Y-you won't… kill me?"

The king gave a half hearted chuckle. "That is not up to me alone. Although, you will lose something as punishment for not being open with your Pharaoh!" Before anyone knew what had happened, the king gripped the hilt of his sword and slashed it down on the servants wrist. A scream full of agony rang throughout the room. Blood dripped from the wound the Pharaoh left. "Bind and seal his wound." The Pharaoh barked. The guard hurried, using bandages to wrap up the wound as best they could. The Pharaoh looked down at the man, grabbing his severed hand with the bracelet still attached. "I may be the new Pharaoh, but I am no fool. I know for a fact you are not a servant here." As he spoke, he raised up the bracelet for everyone to see. It was a thick, golden one with the symbol of a bird. "Only those that have the eye of Horus are allowed inside of the Palace. Also, why is it that you cling to your kilt?" The person was still holding his clothing with the hand he had.

It was Karim that stepped down, grabbing onto the kilt and shaking it, revealing necklaces and rings inside, all made of gold and held great value. "His kilt doubles as a bag, these treasures were taken from here."

The Pharaoh nodded. "Put him in the dungeon, I'll leave his fate in the hands of you and the other priests." The Pharaoh told Karim. The black haired priest picked up his scale, nodding towards his king as he had the guards escort the thief out.

Shada came up to the ruler, the ankh around his neck no longer glowing. "I do not understand why you had to set up such a trail, My Pharaoh. Not that I question your judgement, but we could have just searched him and let him stay in the dungeon."

"Shada, the point of having the priests and myself hold these trials is to deliver punishment to those that believe they are above others and the law. As the crowned king of this land, I must see to it that everyone is served justice, no matter how big or small the threat is. It is the job of the Pharaoh to protect his kingdom and people with those that have darkness in their hearts. Mercy is acceptable, but we can not allow it to show such softness."

Shada bowed to his king. "Of course, my Pharaoh."

The man nodded at his priest, wiping the blade off with a handkerchief. "Did you see a Ka in him?"

Shadow stood up. "A small one, very weak. If you request it, I will remove it with Seth's help."

After he finished cleaning his sword, the young man set the weapon in its sheath. He thought about what Shada had said and rubbed his chin. "With how the man is now, his hatred is sure to grow and feed into that monster. But with the loss of his hand and being trapped in the dungeons, he is sure to be very weak. Keep an eye on him for now, if he shows any signs of aggression, then you may pull that beast inside of him out. To rip it from his soul now would result in even more bloodshed. Speaking of which," Those magenta eyes looked down at the spot where the man had his hand cut off. "Do have the servants clean that up. The last thing I need is for Shimon to be on my neck for dirtying the throne room."

"Right away, your highness." Shada bowed again, then turned to gather some female servants. The Pharaoh began to walk out, heading back to his own room to attempt to finish the Millennium Puzzle. With such a thrill of a game, he felt even more determined and he wanted to do whatever it took to show people he was not only feared, but powerful as well.

Yugi soon saw the room of the Museum coming back in his line of vision. He gasped, feeling a cold shudder run through his body as that strange film played in his head. Yugi looked around, seeing he was back in the Museum once again. No one was around and the lights seemed to have gotten dimmer. "What… was that?" His hand went to his forehead, trying to calm his mind down. That… that couldn't have been his memory, right? It felt like he was reliving the life of someone else, and yet why was it so vivid? Was it just his imagination? Yugi looked up at the scripture with the 'Weighing of the Heart', everything seemed normal. The hand that was on his forehead traveled down to his heart, feeling it beating as his blood was rushing. "It felt so familiar… but I never saw it before…"

Yugi didn't know what to make of any of it, all he knew was that it was getting late and he still had to find the Millenium Puzzle. "Whatever that was, I'll worry about it later. I still have to find the room with the Puzzle. I'm sure the director is waiting for me." He went back on course, needing to finish what he started. As he turned down to start walking again, he looked up and noticed someone coming his way. A familiar man with a white turban and robe holding a golden scale that had the same eye of Horus in the center of the beam. 'It's the Egyptian man from earlier…' Yugi was surprised that the man was still in the Museum after hours. Perhaps he had gotten lost like Yugi? Or maybe he was trying to talk to the director about something. The high schooler saw the man staring at the boy, probably wondering what he was still doing here as well. Yugi rubbed his head nervously as he thought about asking this man where the director was. 'He may not know, but it can't hurt to ask.' Yugi had the chance to talk with someone, and any help he could get was good enough. "Umm… excuse me sir. I don't mean to bother you, but do you know where the director is? I'm supposed to meet him to get my Millennium Puzzle back. It's a golden artifact in the shape of an upside down pyramid with the eye of Horus in the center." Yugi placed his hands together to make the shape so he hoped the Egyptian knew what he was talking about.

Unbeknownst to Yugi, The Egyptian man was frozen as he looked at the boy. 'What? It can't be possible… This boy…'

"Uh… are you alright? You're kind of staring at me. If you don't know where the director is…" Yugi trailed off, getting a bit uncomfortable with how intense the mans' gaze was.

The Egyptian looked at Yugi, getting nervous of this new information. 'It was said that the one who pieces the puzzle together and solves the riddle will receive the power the item possesses. The same power my bloodline has inherited. If he was indeed the one that solved the Millenium Puzzle, then I must find out if this boy has gained the power or not.'

Yugi wasn't sure what was up with the Egyptian, he was just staring at him without looking at him at all. It was a bit unnerving to say the least. Yugi wanted to say something to get out of that situation. It was clear the man didn't seem to know where the director was, and Yugi still had to find him. As his mouth began to open for him to speak, he noticed the golden ankh glowing around the Egyptian's neck. Was it always there and Yugi didn't see it last time? Now that the high schooler was getting a closer look, that ankh looked similar to the one that he saw in that vision of his. "That ankh…" Yugi whispered. He was certain it couldn't be a coincidence at this point.

The Egyptian closed his eyes, letting the symbol around his neck glow. Yugi wasn't sure what was going on, it was as if time had stopped and it was just him and the Egyptian in front of him. The ankh rose up from the visitors chest, flying off of his neck and having the tip land on top of Yugi's head. The room glowed once again, in a blinding flash of white and gold. The Egyptian was falling through the air as the brightness flew past him. He soon landed on cold and blue colored bricks. He found himself in a hallway where it was made of nothing but bricks. The Egyptian made his way down the long tunnel, looking around to see what he could find. Eventually, his walking soon brought him to the end, with two doors one on either side of the wall.

"This boy… he has two rooms inside of his heart? This is not something I am familiar with…" The Egyptian admitted as he stepped closer to get a better look. He checked the room on his left, as the door was wide open to reveal a brightly colored room with a diamond tile pattern. Many old toys such as a train set and a rocking horse were inside. The room had a bright salmon color to it. "The shining colors and the scattered toys… the room of a pure and innocent soul." The man noted, then turned his attention to the other door that was closed. It was a metal door, with strange markings etched in the material that made it appear as veins along with an eye in the center. As the Egyptian looked at the eye, the door began to slowly open. He attempted to brace himself for what laid on the other side, wondering what was hiding behind such a tough door. He was not prepared for what was waiting for him. The Egyptians' eyes widened as there was a figure standing in the doorway.

"Oh… It seems that I have a visitor." 'Yugi' stared at the foreigner as he was standing in the doorway, looking over him.

"He's… the boy of this mind…" The Egyptian believed at first. 'No… there's something off about him. As if his personality has changed!' The Egyptian concluded.

"May I ask who you are?" 'Yugi' questioned nicely, trying to get some answers before he tried anything. Even though he could easily kick this intruder out or sentence him to a punishment game, he figured he would hear him out before he labeled him as a threat.

The Egyptian was still taken aback by this new approach. He wasn't sure how to process any of this. 'I have visited many soul rooms in the past… Though they were all different, everyone usually had only one room to depict their true nature. And yet this boy possesses two rooms in total.' The Egyptian looked around, getting a better bearing on what kind of room he was in. It was not at all like the one from across the hallway. This room was closed off, cold and heavy air surrounded him. There was little to no light at all, but yet he was able to make out what appeared to have been hieroglyphs of Egyptian writing. Perhaps it was a connection to the roots regarding the Millennium Puzzle? 'This room resembles the likes of a tomb belonging to a Pharaoh… So this boy really must have been the one to inherit the Puzzle's powers.' He concluded.

"I don't know what kind of power you used to find yourself in my room, but… I demanded to know why you are here and what you want." 'Yugi' ordered, after all this was his room and it was a breach of privacy that this stranger walts in without a proper introduction.

The man lightly chuckled. "I suppose I did invite myself into your home… It only seems fair that I answer your question since you are being so polite." The Egyptian took that as his cue to go further into the room, getting closer to 'Yugi' as he kept his serious composure. "I'm here to seek out and learn the nature of the power that the Millennium Puzzle has granted you."

This made 'Yugi's' brows raised, impressed that this man knew about the Item and the potential it holds. "You know of the Millenium Puzzle's power?"

"The Millennium Puzzle is only one of several Millennium Items. It has slumbered in the Valley of the Kings for three thousand years since ancient Egypt. It was one of the items used by the Pharaoh and his priests to reveal and judge criminals. I know this because of my connections with guarding the Items."

"So you used one of those Millennium Items to enter my room using its powers?" 'Yugi' questioned.

The Egyptian held up the golden ankh around his neck for a better showing. "I came here using the power of the Millennium Ankh. It has the power to allow the user to enter a person's mind and into their soul rooms. Inside each room, holds the characteristics that make up that person. Their desires, their values, their complexes. Along with the Ankh, I also possess the Millennium Scale. It has the ability to weigh the sins of those that are being judged before it. Similar to the scale used in the 'Judgement of the Dead'. However, The Millennium Puzzle is the most mysterious of them all, in which I do not know the full extent of its power."

'Yugi' had to admit, he was fairly fascinated by this strange man. Not only was he familiar with the Millenium Puzzle, but he also possessed other Millenium Items. No, just the fact there were other Millennium Items out there was enough to peak his interest. "So you came into my room to find the answers to the Puzzle?" He questioned.

The Egyptian looked at the walls of the room, as much as he could see with how dark it still was. "I can sense great power within this room from where I stand already. If there is indeed the power of my family, I will be taking it back to them."

"Back to your family?" 'Yugi' repeated. The Egyptian only nodded, not saying anymore information. 'Yugi' was still skeptical of this man, he knew nothing about him yet he possessed great power and two Millenium Items. He was definitely not a force to be reckoned with. Even so, 'Yugi' was the one with the home field advantage. "I will tell you now that the power of the Puzzle is inside my room. But I will not be handing it over to you easily. Which means that it's Game Time."

The Egyptian was caught off guard by this sudden request. However, he should have figured that he wouldn't be able to get the information about the Millenium Puzzle that easily. The man was certain this was a Shadow Game he was going to be facing. Even so, he was not too worried as he had the same power on his side. "If you manage to win, I will reveal the secrets of the Millenium Puzzle." 'Yugi' began to explain. "The rules are easy, somewhere in this mind is my true room that holds the secrets you are looking for. If you can find it, you will win."

So that was the game, it seemed fairly simple. And it would be even easier for the Egyptian. The man chuckled, gaining confidence. "Then I suppose I should mention my special ability that comes with the Millennium Ankh. When I enter a person's room in their mind, I can manipulate it however I please. Which means I can also destroy their personality if I so desire. I shall accept this game. And I will find your true room!" He promised 'Yugi'.

Even though 'Yugi' now realized what this Egyptian was truly capable of, he still had his confidence. 'Yugi' chuckled himself as he stared at the visitor. "Do you really believe it will be that easy? After all, this game is much more dangerous than you think." Upon his warning, the room began to reveal more light. With the room lit up, the Visitor was able to look around and see what else this place had to offer. Staircases leading in many different directions to doors. Some lead in a straight line, others trailed off and looped back around. A few lead to only one door but there were those that had many along the way.

"Th-this place is… a maze!" The Egyptian gasped, seeing the true purpose of this room. This was not good, this set up represented that not even this 'Yugi' knew what his personality was. The room was a mystery to even the person that dwelled within. If not even 'Yugi' knew about the room, then his ability to rearrange it would prove futile.

"What's the matter? The game won't begin until you move." 'Yugi' instructed.

The Egyptian looked around, trying but failed to count the number of doors that were present. "The doors appear to be countless… But one of them leads to the true room!" He would not let this minor setback get the better of him. The Visitor had to start somewhere, so he began to climb up a stairwell, keeping his eyes ahead as he attempted to find the real door. He started with the first door on his right, figuring it was a random shot, but better than nothing. He gripped the handle and swung it opened all the way, walking inside without hesitation. Nothing seemed too suspicious, so for a moment he believed he was in the right room. However, as he began to smile, he heard a strange noise coming from above him. The Egyptian gasped, seeing a large stone slab coming down from a chain. He backed away in time to not be crushed, but it was still a shock to him nonetheless.

The Egyptian turned to see 'Yugi' phasing through the wall as half of his body was poking out of the bricks. He had a sly smirk on his face, almost pleased that the Visitor nearly got flattened. Well, it was his room after all, and he was just doing all he could to protect it. Besides, if the game was too easy, it wouldn't be any fun. "I suppose you are aware by now. But the road to finding the true room will be a steep one. Good luck." 'Yugi' stated as he vanished before the Egyptians' eyes. The man was on the ground, looking between where 'Yugi' just was and to the large circular block that nearly crushed him.

"He set traps… clearly this man will not make it easy for me." He got up and dusted off his robe. Leaving the room, he walked up another flight of stairs. The first door proved to have been a dud, but there were many other options. "One of these has to be the true room…" He told himself as he started up his search once again. He opened the second door he found, looking inside but stayed outside the frame in case another trap was set for him. Just as it was all swung open, the bricks from the floor flew up as a geyser of water shot up from the hole. The Visitor gasped as the room flooded from the hole. He fell back on the base as a wave came towards him, only to disappear moments later. So that one was just an illusion, and yet another trap. He was beginning to get a bit discouraged. "Do you think these traps are enough to bewilder me?!" He stood up, fast walking up the stairs and grabbing the handle to a door on his right this time. "Is this it?!" He demanded to know as he pried the metal barrier open. This time, fire engulfed the room and his whole body. The Visitor screamed in pain as he ran off, tumbling down the stairs until he landed halfway. By that time, the fire was gone and he felt no more pain. "Another illusion?" He questioned. Most of these traps seem like they were only made to trick the opponent, and yet they appear to have done the job.

The Egyptian closed his eyes, trying to focus. "No more guessing, use your training you had been taught." He told himself. "Close the eyes and open the ears. Let the Ankh lead the way." He rose up from where he was and started walking up the stairs, the ankh around his neck glowing as he followed where it was leading him. Passing one door after another, his eyes were kept close the whole time. "This boy's mind has obstructions to keep out intruders such as myself. Despite his best efforts, he will not prevent me from finding out the truth. I will learn more about the Millennium Puzzle's powers."

Soon enough, his feet brought him to another door. He opened his eyes to see where he was, and noticed the engravings on the metal, looking similar to the entrance in which he came into the room. "Is this it?" He wondered. He wasn't sure if he should trust another door at this point, but it was the Millennium Ankh that led him here. And with how different the structure looked, he was sure that the other side must hold something special. He reached down, gripping the handle and peeking into the room. This time, he was not met with a trap or illusion. In the very center with light shining, there sat 'Yugi' upon a stone chair that was similar to a throne.

'Yugi' watched as the man opened the door, looking into the room and seeing him. He was just sitting on the chair, with hieroglyphs carved into the frame. "Yo." He greeted, having a straight face, though his lip did curve into a small smile.

"So this is the room." The Egyptian believed, having a brief moment of relief. "So I've finally reached the real room?" He took a few steps in, guard down as he believed he finally found what he was searching for. To his disappointment, 'Yugi' only chuckled as he watched the Egyptian pause in his movements. Within a few seconds, the brick flooring started to collapse inward as the Visitor was falling through. "No! This is also a trap!" He realized in fright as a small hole opened in the floor of the room. With a scream of fear, the Egyptian quickly grabbed onto the ledge of the remaining bricks and held on. Below him, he could see some of them falling into the blackness of the abyss which represented the boy's subconscious. "Damnit! If I fall into this deep darkness… I'll be trapped in this boy's mind forever!" He cursed, knowing that he was once again deceived.

'Yugi' stepped over to the hole, just above the stones that the Egyptian was clinging to. He looked down at the one hanging for dear life, knowing full well he had lost the game. "Looks like this is the end." 'Yugi' gave an inward chuckle as he knelt and reached his hand out for the Egyptian. Making the man give him a hateful glare only to turn it into a bewildered gaze. "Don't worry. I assure you this hand is not a trick." He promised. The Egyptian wasn't sure why he was showing such kindness to him, perhaps it was an act of mercy? Despite everything he had done and the threats, this boy was going to spare him? He truly was a strange figure. Regardless, the Egyptian did not have any intentions of dying, so he reached up with his free hand and took the offer. 'Yugi' helped pull him out of that hole with ease. The Visitor was on his knees, reeling from what had transpired.

"I can't believe that the other boy from this mind saved me from his own game." The Egyptian was baffled by the act still, and yet he was grateful he was alive.

'Yugi' looked down at the foreigner, and despite rescuing him, he was still going to scold him for what he had done. "Peeping into the mind rooms of people is a very poor and distasteful hobby. Maybe next time, you think twice about who you enter and be more considerate when you visit their rooms." 'Yugi' advised, more so to try and keep this man out of trouble.

"So this game…" The foreigner looked up at 'Yugi' with a blank expression. "Does this mean I've lost?"

'Yugi' stared at the man, his eyes wide and serious as he wondered to himself. "No… I have a feeling this is only the beginning." It was a warning, to both him and the Egyptian. 'Yugi' had a strong and very unnerving feeling he would be meeting with this man once again. As for when or where, he would let time tell. As it stood, the man knew he could no longer stay in this room. Even though he did not find what he was looking for, that was the last warning he needed to know that he would not be able to solve this maze, even with his Millennium Ankh. The Visitor picked himself up and began to walk to the open door.

"Farewell." He said his goodbye, heading through the door and into the light. He was done here, no need to continue if he was so close to death. With flashes of brightness, the Egyptian's soul found his way back into his body, as he was knelt on the floor with his face looking at the ground. He was back in the Museum once more, and this time Yugi was looking at him, worried.

Yugi wasn't sure what happened, he felt the strange coldness that took hold of his body leave him. He shook his head as he regained himself, looking around the room full of ancient artifacts. How strange, he remembered asking the Egyptian if he knew where the director was along with his Puzzle. The next thing he knew, Yugi saw gold and then darkness. Did he black out again? But it didn't last as long, it seemed time didn't pass too much. The young high schooler looked in front of him, seeing the Egyptian kneeling over with the golden scale in his hand. "H-hey… Are you alright sir?" Yugi asked, concerned.

Sweat drops were present on the tan face of the Egyptian, as his eyes were waving from the experience in the mind alone. 'I entered this boy's mind to test his true powers….In the end, he was the one that was testing me.' He thought, as the memory of that other 'Yugi' was haunting him. It would be a long time before he would recover from such an event.

"Are you okay, sir?" Yugi repeated. "You look really pale." He was hoping that he didn't do anything to this man when he blacked out. He seemed physically alright, from what Yugi could see so that was a good sign. "Do you want me to get some help?"

Upon hearing the soft voice of the boy, the foreigner looked up as he saw the innocent features of the child. "Oh… I'm alright, thank you." He then stood up, holding the scale in his hand again. As he managed to gather himself, he reached into the back robe of his pocket and brought out a golden triangle puzzle. "Were you looking for this?"

When Yugi saw his Millenium Puzzle, he reached over and took it, holding it in his hands. "Thank you, sir!"

"So, this Millenium Puzzle belongs to you, and you really completed it?" He asked.

Yugi nodded. "I'll admit, it was difficult, taking me eight years. But I'm pleased that I have finished it." He looked at his treasure, relief washed over him as it was back in his hands once again. Though there was one question that bothered him. "Why did you have the Puzzle though?"

The Egyptian looked down at the boy, realizing that it would be best to keep certain information closed up. No need for him to know every detail, but couldn't hurt to give him a bit if it didn't worry him. "I was merely seeking the answers this Puzzle had. I heard many stories of it, but none of them had any evidence to back up the powers it possessed. In fact, since the days of the Pharaohs, the Puzzle was broken and had not been completed once. So I was merely curious as to who solved the Puzzle. But rest assured, I had the full intention of bringing it back to its owner."

Yugi smiled, glad he kept his word. "Oh, I see. I bet Mr. Kanekura gave you the Puzzle so you could give it to me and he wouldn't be worried about missing me. He sure is a trusting man." Yugi smiled, painting the director in such a bright picture.

"I suppose… that is what happened…" The Egytian trailed off, not admitting or denying anything.

"Thank you again." Yugi smiled at him.

He, however, shook his head. "No need to thank me. I owe you this after all you did."

Yugi raised a brow in confusion. "Owe me? Did I lend you something?"

"I meant to the other you." The Egyptian explained.

Now Yugi was even more confused. "The other me? What are you talking about?" It was like the mummy tears all over again, Yugi wasn't sure what the man was saying but he figured it must have been something Egyptian based. He believed it would be best not to question it too much, since he didn't want to offend him.

The Egyptian himself just stared at Yugi, looking at the innocent boy as he was once again being reminded of the more confident version that tested him inside the mind. 'This boy is unaware that he has another personality within him. So it seems that the true power of the Millenium Puzzle will only be revealed when the two sides finally meet.' The Egyptian looked mostly at the Millenium Puzzle as Yugi put it around his neck. "Boy, what is your name?"

"I'm Yugi Mutou! I'm not called "boy"! It's Yugi!" He stated in an offended tone.

"Yugi…" The man repeated, staring off into the hallway "There are still other things I must do in this country. When all of my judgements are over, I believe that we will be able to meet again." He started to walk past Yugi, making his way towards the exit. However, he paused halfway to look back at him with a small smile. "My name is Shadi… This is the first time I've told my name to a stranger." Shadi chuckled as he finally began to walk away now.

Yugi watched him go, standing there with his Millenium Puzzle. Once he was out of sight, Yugi was baffled. He didn't know what the Egyptian was talking about, nor did he understand why he was referring that Yugi has another version of himself. So many questions that were left unanswered and a feeling of familiarity that he couldn't understand. "What a weird guy…" Yugi commented. Regardless, he knew that he had to leave the Museum after getting his Puzzle back. So he began to make his way out of the building, unaware that the treasure itself was glowing to eminent a warning of danger.
