:Out of the past:
The night of Republic City was grim and bleak and for The Avatar and Ms Marvel the situation was very dire indeed. After councilman Tarrlok went mad with power enforcing new laws in the city which was all but proving how right Amon was about the Benders. Now Asami,Bolin and Mako had been arrested while the Avengers were names enemies of the United Republic. In confronting the councilman they learned he was a Bloodbender a bending art that was declared illegal by Katara after the war ended. Now the two had been abducted being taken to who knows where.
Within the confines of a dark room lit by a single light bulb it was a basement and standing in it was a metal long box. It almost looked like a prison in a horror film. Suddenly the door at the top of the stairs creaked open and coming down was Tarrlok with Korra and Ms Marvel in his blood bending grip. The two groaned as they struggled to free themselves. Tarrlok levitated them towards the open metal box. This terrified the young Polymorph and Avatar.
"What are you doing!?" Korra strained as the two were levitated into the metal box once inside Tarrlok released his grip and they crashed down on the metal floor and an aggressive Tarrlok slammed the door behind them.
"TARRLOK!" Korra yelled as she slammed on the door as said corrupt politician went up the stairs ignoring her. "You can't keep us in here forever! TARRLOK!" She yelled as he left the room.
Korra growled but then looked down to see her friend was still shaken by the blood bending and being captured. She too was slamming on the walls. "TARRLOK LET US OUT LET US OUT!" She tried stretching her hand but she was still weak.
"Kamala, Kamala stop!" Korra said grabbing her wrist. "There's no point he can't hear us."
Ms Marvel knew she was right and they were completely alone. This was just like when she was captured by AIM all over again, only this time by an even more deranged psychopath.
"Wha…what are we going to do?" She said with a shaking voice. Korra could see she was scared.
"I don't know but we'll think of something I promise we're going to be okay and remember we have good friends that will come looking for us." Korra told her in comfort.
Ms Marvel knew she was right and knowing her own instincts once The Avengers knew they were gone they'd stop at nothing to find them. "I hope your right." Ms Marvel admitted as she scooted closer to Korra who embraced her in a hug as they held each other close. The young Avatar knew they were on their own but she'd never let any harm come to Kamala. As they sat in the isolation of their confinement.
Air Temple Island:
Dawn had broken over the city and on the Air Temple. However there was still some discourse from the events of last nights, namely among the other Avengers.
"Forget it Rogers I'm not sitting back and letting Tarrlok get away with this!" Tony said marching out suited up in his armour with the full intent on freeing Asami and the others.
"Tony think about this what good is stopping Tarrlok if we stoop to his level. I know your worried about Asami we all are." Steve argued with him.
"Steve the kids been through enough with her dad, I'm not letting this guy do this to her. I couldn't do much about Tarleton after you were gone but I can help her now!" Tony argued.
"What good is that if we can't look at ourselves earlier!" Steve argued.
"Tony!, Steve!" Called a distressed voice they turned and saw Bruce, Clint and Nat running out with the gamma scientist holding a certain Avengers ID card in his possession.
"Kamala and Korra are gone." Natasha explained much to everyones shock. "Looks like they left last night."
"We found Kamala's Avengers ID card on the table." Bruce explained and the 'A' Symbol was blinking.
"Looks like she left a message." Tony realised. "JARVIS put it on holo display."
"Yes sir." JARVIS replied.
So the ID card glowed and displayed a hologram of Ms Ms Marvel.
"Hi guys it's me Kamala, listen I know what you said about last night but…well Korra and I are going to city hall to talk to Tarrlok." The Avengers were shocked but not surprised on Kamala's behalf. "I don't like it but you know how Korra is and its our friends we can't sit back and do nothing. So I'm going with her. But if your listening to this message it means we haven't returned and somethings happened to us, please find us and don't. Trust. Tarrlok."
The hologram message then disappeared. "Man what are we going to do with those two." Tony sighed.
"What were they thinking going after Tarrlok by themselves! It's just like Kamala being captured by AIM all over again." Bruce said in a frustrated voice.
"She gets this from you you know Nat." Clint said turning to his partner.
"Funny, but this is serious at least she had the foresight to leave us a message. So now we know what's going on." Natasha voiced.
"Okay now can we go have a word with Tarrlok?" Tony asked Steve rhetorically.
Before the super soldier could answer that. "Steven!" They turned and saw Tenzin now in his air bending robes looking rather distressed. "Something has happened."
"We know Korra and Kamala have gone to see Tarrlok." Natasha explained.
"I'm afraid there's more to it than that Natasha." Tenzin told her. "I just got a call from city hall, the Equalists and several A.I.M agents attacked last night and Korra and Kamala were taken."
This news shook The Avengers, Tarrlok's unjustified actions were bad enough but now Korra and Kamala were taken by the Equalists and AIM, no doubt a response to recent events made by Tarrlok.
"Gah I knew this would happen!" Clint exclaimed.
"Okay now we act." Steve decided. "We'll head down to city hall with Tenzin to find out what's happened."
"You cannot come with me remember in Tarrlok eyes your all enemies of the United Republic." Tenzin reminded since they all ran the risk of being arrested if they arrived in the city. Suddenly a great storm gathered around the island then out of nowhere a certain hammer zoomed past the air bending master and landed in the hand of its owner who upon hearing what has happened was bearing a deadly serious expression. Moljnir sparked with thunder.
"With all due respect councilman we could care less of Tarrlok's unjustified jurisdiction of us." Thor said in a deadly tone. "For now our concern is Kamala and Korra's well being, and if he has a part in this he will answer to me!"
Tenzin had to admit he felt a chill in his spine, the other Avengers had seen this look on the thunder gods face many times before especially during the incident with the Midgard Serpent.
"Well, ahem when you put it that way." Tenzin said a little sheepish.
City Hall:
The team now suited up and lead by Tenzin arrived at city hall and saw the council room was in ruins, rubble from the walls on the floor. A photographer was photographing the damage and the Equalist weaponry that was along the crime scene.
A bola was attached one of the pillars, and a shock glove was lying on the ground. As they walked Natasha analysed the crime scene looking around the room. They saw Tarrlok battered and his hair in a mess as he was being treated for his wounds by a water bending was taking his statement.
"What happened?" Tenzin asked angrily towards Tarrlok. "What was Korra and Ms Marvel doing at City Hall?"
However before Tarrlok could answer Thor pushed past everyone and grabbed him by the throat and slammed him into the pillar.
"YOUR ACTIONS CAUSED THIS!" Thor yelled at the councilman who struggled in his grip. "This is the consequences your unjustified actions have wrought! All of this is your doing!" He said angrily Saikahn was about to use his metal bending until Cap stopped him.
"Thor stand down!" He ordered and despite his anger filled eyes Thor calmed down and released his grip allowing the councilman to breath.
"Be grateful I'm being merciful!" The God of Thunder growled as Tenzin then approached him but Saikhan interrupted.
"Captain Rogers you and your team were warned not to interfere with police business so…" Before Saikhan could finish.
"They are here on my authority Saikhan, I am a councilman too you know." Tenzin explained and the new chief allowed it. Tenzin then turned his attention to Tarrlok. "Now what happened here?"
"As I told Chief Saikhan," Tarrlok explained catching his breath and rolled down his sleeve. "Korra and Ms Marvel came to my office late last night. They were upset that I arrested her friends."
"You mean when you falsely arrested them unjustifiably." Bruce pointed out and it took all he had to keep his cool so the Hulk wouldn't come out and tear Tarrlok limb from limb.
Tarrlok ignoring that continued his story. "She asked me to release them and ... that's when the Equalists and AIM attacked." He explained. I tried to protect them, but we were outnumbered. Even with Ms Marvels help we couldn't fight back AIM's advanced weaponry she was neutralised Then, I was electrocuted." He felt his shoulder where he was shocked. "When I came to, the police had arrived. But Korra and Ms Marvel were gone."
After they heard Tarrlok's story they could see the littered Equalist gear was evident enough. However Nat could sense something was off about that story. "What happened to the AIM Agents and what weapons did they use?"
"I couldn't say it all happened so fast, but I couldn't repel it they left in an instance." Tarrlok explained but Nat didn't buy that one little bit she could see something was off.
"I am sorry this has happened, I do hope you Avengers can find them before it's too late." Tarrlok said rather sincerely.
"Oh we will if we weren't 'enemies of the Republic', which by the way is a cliche line."Hawkeye quoted sarcastically.
"Of course Saikhan." Tarrlok said to the new police chief. "As of now I grant the Avengers full amnesty on my authority, and mobilise entire police force we must find The Avatar and Ms Marvel."
"Yes Councilman." Chief Saikhan acknowledged.
The Avengers then left the council room to begin their own search. Tenzin however glared at Tarrlok. "Tarrlok, do not believe for an instant this changes anything. Thor was right your unjustified actions towards the Non Benders is what forced Amons hand this is your doing!"
"Unjustified I was sending a message to Amon that his actions had consequences." Tarrlok protested.
"As do yours!" Tenzin pointed angrily at him. "Which is why once this crisis is over I will be summoning the other council members and we will be discussing your immediate removal from the council. So that we can repair the damage your actions have caused!" Tenzin then stormed away with his gown blowing in an anime style flick leaving Tarrlok standing there glaring.
Outside City Hall the Avengers were discussing the situation. "Something isn't right about this." Black Widow voiced.
"Yeah we should've let Thor put the fear of god in him." Iron Man joked.
"No not that, Tarrlok's story something isn't right." Black Widow explained.
"Nat has a point looking at the rubble in the attack it looked bigger than a simple Equalist attack." Cap agreed.
"Yeah but AIM has weapons that can cause that kind of damage." Iron Man voiced. "Namely the war bots and armigers."
"Interior damage yes but there would've been further damage to the exterior as well." Black Widow voiced. "Plus from the angle the rubble had landed, it look like it originated from the upper floors."
"Could they have infiltrated from there." Tenzin wondered.
"The Equalists maybe but AIM is the more direct approach." Black Widow said. "Plus think about it if they were taking prisoners they would've taken Tarrlok as well so why leave him behind?"
"Best guess to send a warning." Iron Man guessed.
"Aye many great marauders have often left victims behind to spread fear throughout the land." Thor voiced from his own experiences. "But you are correct on your insight Widow which means Tarrlok is knowing more than he is willing to share."
"Maybe but right now it doesn't matter our main priority is locating and rescuing Korra and Kamala." Cap said realising there wasn't time to ponder Tarrlok's "story"
"But we still don't know where AIM's main base is they could be anywhere?" Tenzin voiced.
"So we split up and investigate." Cap then said. "Iron Man, Thor search the skies and scan the city for any traces of AIM's tech use the police band for any leads. I'll head for Future Industries and see if there's any trace clues they may've left behind."
"And what about us?" Hawkeye asked gesturing to him and Black Widow.
"Widow you and Hawkeye head to the police precinct. Given the circumstances, it's time we liberate Mako,Bolin and Asami from prison. We'll need all the help we can get." Cap instructed. Iron Man smiled as his helmet assembled around his head.
"Gee and I was going for the daring rescue angle." Iron Man joked.
"What about the non benders that were arrested?" Widow asked.
"Release them too." Cap said.
"But Steve if we do they could just as easily sign up with Amon after what our resident corrupt politician just did." Iron Man voiced before turning to Tenzin. "No offence."
"Non taken Tony, but Steven is right they were arrested wrongfully they have nothing to do with this war between Amon and the republic." Tenzin agreed with Cap.
"Aye to not show them mercy would make us no better than our enemy." Thor agreed.
Cap then turned his attention to Bruce. "Bruce go with Tenzin see if you can help him dig up any further leads." He said.
"I feel like I should be out there." Bruce voiced.
"Bruce the last thing we need right now is the Hulk tearing apart the city to find them." Cap explained and he was right to be concerned as it was taking every amount of calmness for him to not turn into said green beast angered at what had happened.
"He's right Bruce you can help the girls best by helping me." Tenzin agreed. Despite his own thoughts Bruce had to agree they were nodded as the heroes split off in different directions on their different tasks.
Republic City Police station:
In the jail cells of the police precinct Black Widow and Hawkeye had managed to infiltrate the complex. "Okay we need to find out which cells the kids are being held in." Black Widow said.
"Great but how there's loads of cells." Hawkeye pointed out. "So far I'm not seeing a prisoner inventory list."
Suddenly Widows hand stretched out stopping the archer dead in his eyes shifted behind her. "We're being followed." She whispered to Hawkeye who's eyes looked just as serious they had to act quickly as it could be a foe.
Slowly Widow reached for one of her hand guns while Hawkeye reached for an arrow from his quiver. Suddenly in a swift motion the two turned with their weapons pointed at their supposed foe. However they were in for a surprise.
"Wow are you two always this jumpy?" A voice emerged from the shadows and they were surprised to see stepping out was none other than.
"Lin?" Black Widow said in surprise.
"Chief?" Hawkeye said in equal surprise. Emerging from the shadows was the former Chief Beifong in her uniform minus her chiefs badge and wore a brown trench coat over her armour as she wasn't working for the police.
"Your supposed to be in the hospital?" Hawkeye pondered.
"Yeah I was but after I heard the news about Korra and Kamala's abduction I couldn't sit back on the sidelines anymore." Lin explained after hearing the news from her hospital bed she decided to act. "Besides I vowed to bring Amon down and thats what I intend to do. So I'm here to help however I can."
Hawkeye and Widow smiled seeing that even wounded it couldn't bring Lin down. They were greatly impressed. "Well your timing couldn't be more perfect." Black Widow began to explain. "Last night Mako, Bolin and Asami were wrongfully arrested by Tarrlok and Saikhan along with some non benders he accused of being Equalists. We're here to bust them out."
"Not surprising, but leave it to me." Lin said and so she stomped her foot on the ground using her seismic sense to scan the cells. "The kids are in the cells just down the hall, the non benders are in the cells to the right." Lin explained.
Widow nodded and turned to Hawkeye. "Clint go get the Non Benders. Lin and I will get the kids." She instructed without a word Hawkeye nodded and hurried to the cells.
"In the meantime looks like you have a lot to catch me up on." Lin said to Widow.
"A whole lot come on I'll explain on the way." The two hurried down the hall to find the kids.
Within the confines of a cell, was some of the Non Benders that were wrongfully arrested by Tarllok's task force the previous night. They all sat in isolation wondering if they would ever be free of this place when suddenly. The sound of a loud bang erupted from the door which fell down from its hinges. They all looked and saw in the light of the door and their saviour was Hawkeye.
"Anyone fancy getting out of here?" Hawkeye asked and the non benders, men, women and children all looked with hope at their saviour. Soon they were all heading out of the cell blocks.
"Head down this way and it's a clear way out." Hawkeye instructed.
"Thank you, you saved us." A woman thanked holding her child. As the Non Benders were about to leave.
"Hold up a minute." Hawkeye called which got everyones attention as they turned to him. "Before you decide to go joining Amons so called 'glorious revolution' consider this. Me a Non Bender who's been fighting to maintain peace between you and the Benders is risking his neck to save you all because one bender has gone power mad. Think about that."
After that speech the non benders left. The archer wasn't sure if that had convinced them but at least he left them with that very thought in mind.
Meanwhile:
Soon Lin and Black Widow had arrived at a hallway of cells where the kids were being held. Widow had just finished explaining all that has happened to Lin. Tarrlok's sudden unjustified actions to the Non Benders and Saikhan being his pawn.
"I should've known Tarrlok was up to something but using my own precinct to do his dirty work thats a step over the line." Lin said angrily at how her precinct was being used. "And Saikhan just let this happen?!"
"Believe me Cap delivered his own grievances on him, and I'll see you get the chance to share your thoughts with Tarrlok when this is over." Widow said to her to which Lin nodded in agreement.
Within the confines of her cell Asami lay on the prison bed looking up at the ceiling. Suddenly a loud bang and clang of metal shot her to attention as she shot up from the bed just as the door fell off its hinges revealing Black Widow and Lin standing in the door way.
"Nat! Lin!" Asami gasped.
"Hey kid you alright?" Black Widow asked.
"Yeah I'm okay." Asami replied.
"Hope you got enough beauty rest. Come on, we're busting you out." Lin explained.
"Thanks I owe you guys one." Asami thanked as she left the cell.
"Thank us later right now we have work to do lets go get the boys." Widow said to her putting her hand on her shoulder. To which she nodded.
In another cell the two bending brothers were stood up. Mako was looking away while his brother was attempting to have a pee in the toilet thats there.
"Are you done yet?" Mako asked impatiently.
"Cover your ears! I can't go with you listening." Bolin whined.
Mako just sighed in annoyance and covered his ears. When suddenly his gaze was directed to the door bending and cracking from someone metal bending on the other door fell and revealed, Widow, Asami and Lin had opened the door.
"Asami!" Mako cried as he wasted no time running to his girlfriend. The two embraced in a hug before they shared a kiss.
"AHH!" Bolin screeched. "A little privacy please!" He blushed.
Mako and Asami split from their kiss. "Are you alright?" He asked with concern.
"I'm fine! It's so good to see you." Asami said glad to see her boyfriend was safe as was his brother.
"Nat thanks for coming for us, I thought we'd be stuck here." Mako thanked.
"Don't mention it kid, we never leave one of our own behind." Black Widow replied.
"Hey look I hate to break up this little reunion, but we've got bigger problems now." Lin then said. "Korra and Kamala are in trouble. Amon and MODOK captured them both."
This brought a look of horror to the trio but it was a devastating shock to Mako most of all. "No. No, Korra she…she can't be gone!"
"Kamala too!" Bolin said equally horrified.
"But how, those two would never go down without a fight!" Asami said she only knew Korra and Kamala for a short time but she knew that together the two could stand up to anything.
"Well apparently after you guys were arrested they went to see Tarrlok and they were apparently ambushed by AIM and the Equalists." Black Widow explained.
"Apparently?" Mako picked up on that statement sensing maybe the super spy suspected something.
"Look we can discuss it later right now we have an Avatar and Avenger to rescue." Lin then said getting to the point.
"No joke." They turned and saw Hawkeye standing in the doorway. "So whats say we show Amon why we're called The Avengers."
So without a moment to lose the three teens ran from the cell. Lin then made a hand gesture and a certain zip noise could be heard much to the blushing of an embarrassed Bolin.
"Your fly was down." Lin said bluntly as she walked away.
"Thanks for catching that." Bolin simply said still embarrassed with little dignity.
"Not the most embarrassing thing kid." Hawkeye joked as he followed behind.
Meanwhile Over the City:
Over the sky line of Republic City Iron Man scanned the entire area for any signs of an Equalists base. Combing the area like a hawk searching for its prey, but so far had no luck. Just then he saw Thor coming towards him in the distance so he hovered in place meeting the Asguardian.
"Anything?" Thor asked.
"Nothing, I've had JARVIS scanning this city for any signatures left by AIM's tech but nothing, no caches no hidden bases nothing." Iron Man said.
"Aye tis the same with me, they hide like scorpions under rocks." Thor said in great frustration.
Just then a communication came through on Iron Man's Hud. "Cap any luck on your end?" Tony asked.
Elsewhere:
Cap meanwhile was standing outside an old storage warehouse which was owned by Future Industries. "Negative, all the warehouses owned by Future Industries were completely cleared out." Cap relayed. "They left no traces AIM must have moved their tech elsewhere and any of Amons old hideouts have been stripped bare."
"Damn it every lead we have is a dead end." Iron Man said on the coms.
"Aye and while we chase loose ends Kamala and Korra remain in peril." Thor agreed.
"Don't give up yet, for now regroup at Air Temple Island." Cap then said. "Lets just hope the girls can hold out until we find them." He looked out at the sky deeply hoping the Avatar and Poly Morph were okay.
Elsewhere: Mountain Cabin:
Meanwhile within the isolation of the snow cabin loud banging could be heard from inside the basement. Within the confines of the metal box, both Korra and Ms Marvel were banging against all the walls in the hope of smashing their way out. Sadly their efforts were in vain.
"Somebody! Help! Please!" Korra yelled practically begging while Ms Marvel banged against the opposite wall. "Please!" Eventually their actions and the immense heat of their confinement had exhausted them.
"Its no good." Ms Marvel slumped to the ground in defeat. "We're never gonna get out of here."
"Hey don't give me that." Korra said to her as she slumped to the ground. "Besides where's the determined Ms Marvel that I know." She then said trying to lighten the mood.
"Stuck in a cage thanks to a two timing jerk of a water bending councilman." Ms Marvel said sarcastically.
"Kamala look can't you embiggen and smash us out of here?" Korra then asked.
"You think I haven't been trying?" Ms Marvel replied as she tried to enlarge her hands but as they were growing she groaned weakly as they reverted to normal size. "I'm still weak from that blood bending that Tarrlok pulled on us. Just what was that anyway?"
"The short version a perverted water bending technique invented by a water bender named Hama who Aang and his friends crossed paths with during the war and tricked Katara into learning it." Korra explained. "But some years after the war she had the technique outlawed."
"Hama that old lady that was kidnapping people in a Fire Nation Village?" Ms Marvel asked and Korra was rather taken aback by how Kamala knew this. "What I've been reading some of Jinora's books."
"But I just don't know how Tarrlok pulled it off there was no full moon." Korra sighed.
The two girls pondered about their hopeless situation, the isolation was starting to set in. However in that moment an idea game to Ms Marvels mind.
"Hey I think I have an idea." She said immediately getting Korra's attention. "Maybe you should try meditating."
"What?" Korra said confused.
"Well its like Tenzin said maybe these visions you've been having could be Aang trying to tell you something, maybe it's connected to what's happening right now?" Ms Marvel explained to her. "I mean it's not like we have any better ideas."
The Avatar had to admit her friend did have a point given the circumstances maybe this was the time to think on these visions. If Aang was trying to tell her something, she had to find out what. So inhaling her breath she took up a meditating position and freed her mind. Ms Marvel watched over her as she meditated.
Just then The Avatar began to see the visions of a time long ago and saw a forty year old looking Aang waiting for someone in the streets of Republic City.
"What are you doing here, Aang?" Aang heard a voice and several foot steps from behind him, and turned to see an older Toph the chief of police with several Metal Bending officers behind her. "I told you, I have this under control."
"Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't get involved," Aang said with an air of concern in his voice. "but if what those victims said is true, we're not dealing with a normal criminal."
Toph could see her old friend was set on helping her with this situation. "Fine." She said smiling "Follow me, Twinkle Toes."
"Toph, I'm forty years old. You think you could stop with the nicknames?" Aang said quite annoyed as she hadn't stopped calling him that since they were kids during the 100 year war.
"Fraid not." Toph said smirking as Aang who grimaced in annoyance at his old friends antics followed her into what appeared to be Kwong's Cuisines.
Once inside they looked to a man in what appears to be water tribe styled attire having a meal under the protection of two strong men.
"It's over! You're under arrest, Yakone!" Toph said pointing directly at the man who's name was Yakone.
Yakone simply sat with his eyes shut but then opened them to see the Chief of Police and the Avatar. "What is Republic City coming to? Used to be, a man could enjoy his lunch in peace." He said smirking.
In one swift motion Toph bent a metal cable from her belt and grabbed Yakones wrist causing him to drop his chopsticks. She pulled Yakone from his seat as a Metal Bending officer restrained him much to the surprise of the other guests.
"What's the big idea?" He demanded.
"We have dozens of witnesses, Yakone. We know what you are." Aang then said to him in a serious tone.
"Take him away." Toph gestured to the Metalbending officers as they took him out of the resturaunt but not before he looked back at the Avatar looking rather arrogant.
"I've beaten every trumped-up charge you yahoos have brought against me!" He said rather confidently with an arrogant smile. "And I'll beat this one, too."
Aang looked at the captured crime boss with a serious look.
Suddenly Korra shot awake from her meditating trance. "Whoa." She said much to Ms Marvels surprise.
"What what happened what did you see?" She asked insistently.
"I finally connected with, Aang." Korra said to her.
"Awesome! So did he tell you anything. Maybe a way of getting out of this box?" Ms Marvel asked while joking much to Korra's chuckle.
"No, all I saw was him and Toph arresting Yakone." Korra explained.
"Who?" Ms Marvel asked.
"Yakone was a criminal who ruled Republic City's criminal underworld at least thats what I heard from Tenzin during some training sessions." Korra explained. "But he was untouchable by the police until he was finally arrested."
"Whoa." Ms Marvel said amazed.
"Yeah but I just don't understand what he's trying to tell me." Korra sighed.
"Well keep meditating maybe you'll learn something new." Ms Marvel suggested.
Korra nodded at that suggestion and after taking a deep breath she reentered her meditation. Hoping to uncover more to these visions and their meaning, while Ms Marvel watched over her.
Air Temple Island:
Back at the Air Temple, Tenzin was in his office on the phone trying to dig up any leads. While Bruce looked at a map on the desk, which Widow labeled with locations of old Equalist/AIM safe houses.
Just then the two heard the door open and saw, Lin, Black Widow, Asami, Hawkeye, Mako and Bolin enter the room.
"Lin!?" Bruce said greatly surprised.
"I have to go. Call me back the minute you hear anything" Tenzin said before hanging up the phone and standing up surprised to see Lin.
"Lin? Wh-wh-what are y- What are y- You should be in the hospital!" Tenzin said in great surprise.
"I figured you could use our help finding Korra and Kamala." Lin said to him.
"Lin!" The group turned round and saw Cap, Thor and Iron Man were behind them in the door way.
"Hey Steve." Lin greeted smiling. "Surprised to see me."
"A little, but shouldn't you be in the hospital?" Cap asked.
"Yeah but I heard about Korra and Kamala, so I went to help the kids when I ran into Nat and Clint." Lin explained.
"Well its good to see you back in action." Cap smiled gratefully.
"Aye it's good to have you back friend Lin." Thor said.
"Attitude and all." Iron Man agreed it was then he noticed Asami. "Asami." His helmet retracted as he went over to her. "You okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine, just glad to be out of there." Asami smiled.
"It is good to see you safe and well Miss Sato." JARVIS said.
"Thanks Jarvis." Asami chuckled.
Cap and Thor then greeted Mako and Bolin. Mako shook hands with Cap. "Its good to see you kids are okay, I'm sorry we couldn't come sooner."
"Hey don't worry about it Cap." Bolin assured.
"Great but we have to find Korra and Kamala, do we have any leads?" Mako then asked rather anxiously.
"Bruce and I have been on the phone all morning, but nothing yet." Tenzin explained coming around his desk.
"I'm guessing you've all had no luck." Bruce presumed looking at the Avengers.
"Nope, all of AIM and the Equalists old bases were cleared out just like at the Sato Mansion." Iron Man explained.
"Man makes me wish we had our resident blood hound Wolverine." Hawkeye said however that sparked an idea from Mako.
"Wait thats it!" he realised. "We need Naga! She can track them."
"I'm afraid not Mako, when we heard fair Korra and Kamala had left they took Naga too I tried to find her but the polar bear dog has disappeared too." Thor explained.
"There has to be a way!" Mako exclaimed in frustration much to everyone surprise.
"Calm down son." Cap said putting a hand on his shoulder. "We won't give up until we find them both, but your frustration won't help. We need a clear head to think, so it would be more productive if we first get all our facts straight." Mako calmed down after hearing that and nodded.
"So where do we start?" Bolin asked.
"Well we know AIM and the Equalists have a main base of operations and after learning of Hiroshi's involvement they've emptied their warehouses and moved their tech." Cap explained.
"Okay but won't someone have noticed, so many trucks moving all that equipment?" Asami questioned.
"Your right kid they would, but AIM would operate in the shadows so they wouldn't be so open they would work covertly." Black Widow wondered.
"Well what about that large ship that attacked the arena, I mean thats large enough to move whatever tech they've got." Mako wondered.
"A good guess Mako but no, its large enough but it would stick out like a sore thumb in the air." Iron Man pointed out.
"Aye so if they couldn't use the sky or ground what other means would they utilise?" Thor wondered then it hit them.
"Underground!" Cap realised.
"It all adds up." Lin soon realised also. "The Equalists and AIM must have a base underground and using the maze of tunnels underneath the city. They could move around undetected."
"And all without raising suspicion, as we haven't thought to look underground." Bruce realised.
"Plus with so many tunnels it would provide the perfect means of hiding."Widow realised.
"Which also explains how that hidden factory under the mansion was cleared out, they must have a passage connecting to the sewer tunnels." Cap guessed. "In my experience of raiding Hydra compounds they always left an escape route open for them."
"Underground." Asami said rather bitterly as she thought about her fathers secret factory. "just like my father's secret factory. Figures." Iron Man placed an understanding hand on her shoulder to comfort her.
"Yeah! Yeah, that makes sense!" Bolin then pondered recalling previous events. "When those chi-blockers had me in their truck, it sounded like we drove into a tunnel!"
"Hence how I couldn't track you when we first met, I hadn't thought to extend JARVIS's scanners to below ground." Iron Man said.
It was in this moment Mako suddenly realised something from said aforementioned event. "I know where to start looking! Come on!" He exclaimed as the three teens ran out of the room soon followed by the other Avengers.
Cap held back with Lin and Tenzin. "Wherever Amon and MODOK is keeping Korra and Kamala, I bet that's where my officers are too." Lin said to the both of them.
The former chief of police felt a hand on her shoulder and she looked to see Cap. "Then lets bring them home." He said to which Lin nodded in response as did Tenzin.
Later:
Sometime later, the Quinjet swooped down and landed in a deserted street in the down town area of the city. This however was no normal courtyard for it was the same one where Ms Marvel, Korra and Mako pursued the Equalists who took Bolin the night Iron Man found them.
The jet landed and emerging from the back were The Avengers, Lin, Tenzin, Mako, Bolin and Asami. Mako looked down one of the streets.
"Okay Mako which way?" Black Widow asked.
"The truck with Bolin took off down this alley." Mako pointed to one of the streets and everyone jogged down until they reached an intersection.
"Which way?" Asami asked.
"Bolin can you recall anything?" Thor asked. Bolin looked around and even smelled the air.
"Hmm. This way kinda." Bolin said sniffing the air. "smells familiar."
Lin then metal bent the sole of her boot and stomped the ground using her seismic sense to scan the area. "There's a tunnel nearby." The group hurried down the street and slid down an embankment in what looked like a water way under the bridge.
"There!" Mako pointed to a large metal gate in the wall, and it was then Lin and Black Widow noticed the traces of tire tracks in the ground and snow. They were going under the gate.
"Motor cycle tracks." Lin observed kneeling down for a closer look.
Widow took a closer look at the tracks namely within the patterns. "And judging by the tire pattern its the same type the Equalists use."
"In other words we've found their little hidey hole." Hawkeye realised.
"Korra and Kamala has to be in there somewhere." Mako then realised.
"Then lets find out." Iron Man said as he looked to Bruce who nodded in response removing his glasses and heading to the gate.
"Hey uh Bruce." Bolin said seeing him walk. "Not to sound pushy but, now might be a really good time for you to get angry."
Bruce just smiled at that. "Well thats my secret kid." He said as he stood at the gate and turned to Bolin.
"I'm always angry."
Just then Bruces eyes turned bright green and within minutes he transformed into the raging Incredible Hulk. Without a word he ripped the gate clean off its hinges and tossed it away.
Captain America then stepped forwards and removed the shield from his back. "Alright everyone on the alert and stay together, Lin, Widow, Hawkeye cover the rear with Hulk." Cap said gesturing to them. "Mako, Iron Man, Thor take point there's no telling what we might run into in these tunnels."
"Oh that reminds me." Iron Man said as a compartment in his armour belt opened and he pulled out a certain glove. "Asami." He tossed the shock glove to the beauteous girl who caught it.
"Nice." Asami said putting it on her hand.
"Well like Widow said a girl needs her tools." Iron Man smirked behind his helmet. So the group entered the underground tunnels. Mako and Iron Man lit the way with their fire bending and arc lights.
Soon they arrived at an intersection of tunnels. "So now which way?" Bolin asked.
"JARVIS give me a deep scan of the tunnels." Iron Man said.
"Yes sir." JARVIS said as the hud in Iron Man's helmet scanned the tunnels for any clues. Then several seconds later. "Sir, I cannot detect any signs of life within these tunnels." JARVIS said.
"Great." Iron Man groaned.
"Hold on." Asami then said getting an idea. "Jarvis did you try scanning for heat signatures or any electrical signals it could narrow it down." She suggested.
"Jarvis?" Iron Man asked.
"Recalibrating now." JARVIS replied and scanned the area again. "Sir I am detecting a faint electrical signal down the third tunnel. Unfortunately I cannot verify if it is from AIM or the Equalists."
"Well it's a start." Iron Man realised before giving a proud look to Asami. "Good thinking kid."
Asami smiled at that praise and Mako wasted no time heading towards the tunnel. "Then lets go!"
"And what if they're not down there." Asami asked.
"Then we pick another tunnel until we find Korra, and Kamala." Mako said rather sharply and left a rather hurt looking Asami and soon they followed Mako and Iron Man down the tunnels. Asami dropped back standing with Bolin and Hawkeye.
"Hey, is Mako all right? He seems really worried about Korra." Asami asked the earth bender brother.
"Yeah, we all are!" Bolin said in agreement.
"Hey don't forget Kamala, she's not the only damsel in distress here." Hawkeye pointed out.
"I know, but." Asami said before turning to Bolin. "he's your brother. Do you think that he likes Korra as more than just a friend?" She then asked from behind her hand.
This question made Bolin and Hawkeye eye each other worryingly. For they knew all too well of the little um event that took place at the tournament.
"W-What? No! That's, just gossip, where'd you hear that?" Bolin chuckled nervously as he gestured to Asami. "Crazy talk is coming out of your mouth right now. Heh."
"Uh yeah I think you've been listening to one too many of Tony's stories about his love life, or at least one of Kamala's fan fictions." Hawkeye said nervously as well, Asami was smart enough to pick up on the fact those two were hiding something.
She then stood in front of the two of them. "Do you two know something?" She demanded which made the two of them a little nervous.
"Ah uh no." Clint said nervously "Uh hey what's that Cap." He then said rushing to the front with a grimacing look.
This left Bolin and Asami alone. "What do you know, Bolin? Come on, spill it."
"Nothing!" Bolin protested. "I mean, there was this one time during the tournament when Mako and Korra kissed, but…"
To say this news shook Asami to the core was an understatement. "They ... kissed?" She said in shock as she looked to Mako who was still ahead with the other Avengers.
"Believe me, I was upset too, but, I'm over it." Bolin explained. "I don't think it meant anything."
"I doubt that." Asami said a little down as she walked on ahead. In that instant Bolin realised he'd really messed up now. Iron Man then noticed from behind him how hurt Asami looked. So he fell back a bit to see her.
"Hey you okay?" He asked.
"Yeah I'm fine, lets just focus on.." However before Asami could speak further a strange sound echoing through the tunnel which got everyones attention.
"Hey, anyone else hear that buzzing." Hulk said.
It didn't take Lin long to deduce what that sound was, and Widow had the same thought it was an engine. Not just any engine though. They saw lights coming from behind them.
"Hide!" Lin exclaimed and quickly the group took cover behind the left side pillar in the tunnel. Two Equalist's on motorcycles zoomed around the corner. One of the riders flicked a switch on his dashboard and out of nowhere the right wall swung open and revealed a secret passage. The two entered the tunnel which closed behind them.
Lin pulled a frown seeing this and Widow was pulling a similar face. "So it would seem JARVIS was correct there is more to this tunnel than first appears." Thor mused.
The group then rushed to the tunnel, and Hulk was ready to rip the door clean off its hinges but then Lin stopped him.
"Hold it big guy. This requires stealth not brute strength." She said much to the green giants annoyance. Never the less Lin began feeling along the wall with her hand like she was looking for something. After feeling the wall she sensed something and twisted her hand like she was turning a dial.
It actually triggered the mechanism that locked the door and with one stance Lin metal bent the door swinging it open.
"Good work Lin." Cap complimented.
"Yeah you'd make a good SHIELD Agent." Widow agreed.
"And most of you would make good cops, in my force." Lin smirks and they all entered the tunnel which swung shut behind them.
Within this concealed place they discovered a staging area many Sato Mobile trucks and the Equalist motor cycles. The group hid behind some pipes at a wall close by. They saw AIM agents with some Chi Blockers.
"So this is where they've been hiding all this time." Tenzin whispered to everyone.
"But how the heck weren't we able to find this place?" Mako wondered as with all the Avengers advanced tech, they couldn't locate this base.
"I'll give you one reason Mako." Iron Man said. "Take a look what's on that wall." He pointed to the rear wall in the upper section. It was there they saw a large looking device put together with bolts and metals and a yellow light glowed in the centre of it.
"What is that?" Bolin asked. Asami took a brief look and soon had a thought.
"Tony, I know advanced tech is your thing but that kinda looks like some kind of jamming device." Asami voiced.
"Nice observation Asami, your actually not too far off." Iron Man agreed with her observation. "What that is, is your run of the mill scramble field generator, when activated its guaranteed to jam and fool any form of scanning equipment."
"AIM must've figured we were using the Quin-Jet and JARVIS to try and locate the Equalists." Widow realised.
"Yeah and it's defiantly my dads handy work. I recognise his craftsmanship anywhere." Asami said rather bitter.
"Hold up you guys started looking for their base after that whole Terrigen bomb thing right." Bolin realised. "So if that thing was built during the weeks before the Tournament."
"It means this was built long before we knew of Hiroshi's involvement." Tenzin realised.
"Shh." Lin signalled as she was trying to hear what was being said. An AIM robot was taking a log of things just then an AIM mech suit was moving several large carts of vat like objects.
"These materials are too dangerous to leave here take them to the main base off site." The Agent said to the robot.
"Confirmed." The droid responded and walked away with it. The agent then noticed a rail trolley with two Chi Blockers on board being loaded with crates by another Chi Blocker.
"Where is this shipment going?" He asked.
"That tram goes to the training camp." The Chi Blocker replied just as it left on the rail.
"Okay head down to storage to assist with moving the equipment." The Agent replied. Just then another rail trolley rolled up and a female Chi Blocker dismounted from it.
"Everything was delivered to the prison, sir." She reported.
"Good, make sure it's completely secured the prisoners may've served their purpose but that doesn't mean AIM doesn't still have a use for them." The Agent then said which caught The Avengers attention. However their greatest shock was yet to come.
For then they heard clanging footsteps and saw two familiar looking robots. The Avengers knew what they were all too well.
"Adaptoids." Widow breathed.
The Adaptoids walked past the AIM agents and Chi Blockers. "So what are those metal men for?" The female Chi Blocker asked.
"Extra security just in case we have any unwanted visitors." The AIM Agent explained.
"Come on The Avengers don't know where we are, if they did they would've swarmed this place by now." The female Chi Blocker said almost accusingly. "What are you AIM guys hiding?"
"What these Adaptoids are meant for are none of your business!" The Agent said sharply at her. "all you need to know is their role is crucial for Project Rebirth, the push that will give the Equalists the edge they need against the benders and Tarrlok's actions have all but worked in our favour."
"Okay I was just asking." The Chi Blocker simply said.
"Now help move what's left here to the off site base." The AIM Agent said.
"Right away." The male Chi Blocker said and they left as the Agent then left. Completely unaware of the Avengers and benders presence in the base.
"That's where they must be keeping Korra and Kamala." Tenzin realised.
"We need to get down that tunnel." Lin suggested.
"Well luckily they just gave us a way down there." Hawkeye gestured to the vacant trolley.
Lin nodded in agreement and so Cap gave a hand gesture to move forwards while Hawkeye and Widow had their weapons at the ready in case anyone came back. The group boarded the trolley as Asami manned the controls with Iron Man. They started the trolley and zoomed down the tunnel.
"JARVIS where does this tunnel end?" Iron Man asked his AI butler.
"The tunnel ends at a large complex area, most likely a holding area." JARVIS replied. "However sir there is a more pressing concern."
This caught everyone's attention instantly. "What is it JARVIS?" Cap asked.
For at the end of the tunnel stood two Equalists on guard duty and two AIM Agents armed with laser were standing within a large prison complex with many cells.
"There are four heat signatures ahead two of them armed." JARVIS replied as they drew closer to the end of the tunnel. An alarm sounded at the end of the tunnel alerting the guards on duty.
The trolley rolled up however the Chi Blockers and AIM Agents looked to see that the transport was completely empty. Minus one large object "It's empty!" One Chi Blocker noticed.
"Yeah, I can see that." One AIM agent then said sarcastically. They then noticed the tarp.
"Who authorised the transport?" the other AIM agent asked.
"Don't know I didn't know we were receiving a shipment." Said the other Equalist.
They were about to examine the tarp when suddenly they heard a loud stomp from behind them. They turned and saw Black Widow and Asami standing behind them.
"Hello there." Widow smirked.
The two AIM Agents readied their blasters and then Widow ducked under from the laser fire and then wrapped her legs around the first Agents then slammed them to the ground. One of the Chi Blockers was about to attack until Asami lunged in with a round house kick knocking him back and then shocked him with her shock glove until he was unconscious. An AIM Agent was about to shoot her, until suddenly a large green hand grabbed him and he looked to see under the tarp was a certain raging Hulk.
"Boo!" Hulk Smirked and with one slammed punched him into the cell door which bent from the damage. Before the Chi Blocker could act a metal cable wrapped around his arms and pulled him back.
Seconds later the four foes were tied up and restrained and their weapons disarmed. As Lin, Tenzin, Cap, Mako, Thor and Iron Man headed up the stairs they turned to Asami, Bolin, Hulk, Hawkeye and Black Widow.
"Asami, Bolin, Natasha you three keep an eye on them." Cap said to them. "We need to find out who's in this complex."
"On it." Lin answered and once again stomped the ground using her seismic sense to scan the prison complex, every cell and its contents. Until finally. "My officers are inside."
"What about Korra?" Mako asked curiously.
"And Kamala?" Hawkeye asked.
Lin turned to the two with an unsure expression. "I don't see them yet." much to Makos continuous worry. Though Hulk didn't show it he was greatly worried as well or rather Bruce Banner was he could feel it in his heart. They both had a strong connection to Kamala and if these guys had done her any harm he'd show no mercy.
"Okay we'll split up and investigate." Cap then said turning to each of the Avengers. "Hawkeye, take Iron Man and Thor search the cells, find the girls and any other benders that maybe held captive." He said.
"Right away Captain." Thor righteously said and they went to search the cells.
"Meanwhile Lin, Tenzin, Mako, Hulk, Black Widow and I will go get the metal benders out. But stay on guard we don't know how many guards are in this prison." Cap then said to the group, who nodded in agreement.
They walked down a hallway of cells lining the walls some that looked like they had strange devices on the cell doors. As they turned a corner they were suddenly greeted by two AIM Agents who sparked to life their taser rods and metal shields.
They charged at the group but before Hulk could even smash them Tenzin quickly took an air bending stance and unleashed a huge gust which blasted against them but they still tried to hold their ground. Hulk then stepped in and unleashed a seismic clap which helped the air bender propel the Agents right into the opposite wall knocking them unconscious.
"Well thats one way to blow them away." Black Widow smirked.
"Yeah, but Hulk thought Airbender's didn't do violence?" Hulk asked with a smirk.
"Unless in self defense, I'm not too afraid to stand my ground." Tenzin simply brushed off his robe.
"Unless he's intimidated." Lin cracked with a knowing smirk much to Tenzins dismay. Lin and Cap continued forwards to the other cells Mako wasted no time running up to one of the agents grabbing him by the collar and removing his mask to reveal a man with brown hair.
"Avatar Korra and Ms Marvel where are you keeping them!" Mako demanded. The agent had regained consciousness.
"Uh what?" The agent asked.
Hulk just pulled the agent away from Mako and slammed him into the wall so hard it dented the metal.
"Tell us where Korra and Ms Marvel are! I'm already angry and you know all too well how I get when I'm angry." Hulk growled as he tightened his grip. "You really don't want to see Hulk when Hulk is seriously pissed off!"
"You better talk because he's not in the best of moods, and neither am I!" Mako replied ignites his fist in flames.
Meanwhile Lin was searching the cells for any signs of her officers. "Lin over here!" She heard the Super Soldiers voice and hurried over to him. She discovered that he'd found her officers stripped of their armour and looked down.
The super soldier wasted no time using his shield to smash the lock on the cell door and opened it. The two stepped into the cell getting the officers attention.
"Chief Beifong? Captain America?" One officer said wearily. However Lin could tell by their weakened state the worst had happened.
"We're too monster already took your bending, didn't he?" Lin guessed and the weakened officer all but nodded in confirmation. Lin looked down in a saddened way and Cap all but a consoling hand on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry Lin, if only we'd gotten here sooner." Cap said in regret seeing this done to her officers.
"Its not your fault Steve." Lin said to him. "Its no ones fault but Amons and MODOKS, I'm gonna make sure they pay for this!" She said in angered tones.
"We will you'll get your chance." Cap assured her before turning to the Metal Benders. "Now come on lets get you men out of here."He said as the Metal benders got up and left the cell but one came up to both him and Lin.
"Do you know if anyone else is here?" Lin asked.
"No chief, I…I can't remember much but after we were captured those AIM people put us in some kind of chamber, and I remember them say something about preparing us for…adaptation." The bender voiced and Caps eyes shrunk for he knew what he was talking about. "After that it was all a blur of dark blue gas and then…Amon took our bending."
"Adaptation?" Lin questioned. "Do you know what that means?" She noticed the look on the super soldiers face.
"I can guess, just pray I'm wrong." Cap said with a deathly concerned tone.
Meanwhile Mako and Hulk were still interrogating the AIM Agent. "We'll ask you one more time! Where are they!" Mako readied his fire fist to attack the restrained Agent.
"I told you we don't have the Avatar or that Inhuman trash!" The Agent replied but Hulk just slammed him into the wall further.
"Try that again! And being slammed into a wall will be the less painful part of your day!" Hulk growled.
"Now where are they!" Mako yelled. Black Widow then stepped in.
"Mako hold up." She said before turning her attention to the agent. "City hall was attacked, Ms Marvel and Korra were abducted so why didn't you take Tarrlok?!" She questioned.
"Oh come on Widow your smart, MODOK wanted to abduct the Avatar we would've done so already, we've heard the news but we had no part in it!" The AIM Agent said. "Besides what would we gain besides spreading a panic, your so called councilman's actions have done that he's practically handed the city to us! Claiming he's this city's saviour when its the so called Avatars ask yourself what stands in his way now?"
Widows eyes suddenly widened in horror putting the pieces together. "Hulk let him go." She told him.
"What why?!" Mako exclaimed.
"Because he's telling the truth." Black Widow said and she looked at Hulk with a knowing expression and much to his frustration he released his grip and the Agent dropped to the ground.
Lin, Cap and the Metalbender officers arrived. "I scanned the entire prison. Korra's not here and neither is Kamala."
"She speaks the truth." Thor, Iron Man and Hawkeye then showed up at the exact same moment.
"Cap we've searched the entire complex if they were here they're not now." Hawkeye explained.
"Why would Tarrlok make up a story about getting attacked?" Mako questioned after dispersing the flame in his hand.
"Why do I get the feeling we've been had." Iron Man wondered just as Asami and Bolin showed up.
"Because we have." Black Widow then said. "Tarrlok has Korra and Kamala!"
"What!" Bolin exclaimed.
"It all makes sense, all he had to do was get Lin out of the way so he could have a chief of police he could control. But we and Korra still present a problem, since we wouldn't play by his he arrested the kids to try and bait us."Black Widow explained.
"So Korra and Kamala took it, and he made his move." Mako realised.
Then suddenly it dawned on Hawkeye. "Kamala's message." That got everyones attention. "The one she left behind for us this morning, she said don't trust Tarrlok. This is what it meant she was warning us!"
"We've been deceived!" Thor growled.
"Tarrlok fooled us all!" Tenzin realise and suddenly the Hulk let a very loud angered roar and slammed the ground below their feet.
"If he's laid a finger on their heads Hulk will crush him into dust!" Hulk growled with a hint of hatred in his eyes.
However the hit of this realisation was cut off by the sound of an alarm sounding in the cells echoing through the halls. "Looks like we may've over stayed our welcome here!" Iron Man realised.
Everyone quickly evacuated the before they could make it to the trolley. *SLAM* The group stopped to see the two Adaptoids from earlier standing before them.
"These things again!" Asami exclaimed.
"We haven't got time for this!" Iron Man said as he unleashed a uni beam blast. However the Adaptoids took a certain stance and the ground below them erupted the metal flooring as a shield to deflect the blast. Everyone was shocked and in horror.
"Oh no!" Cap breathed. "They really did it, they've made the Adaptoids adapt to bending abilities!"
"Bending stolen from my men!" Lin glared in hate at these two robots.
"But this isn't possible!" Tenzin breathed in horror at this sacrilege. The Adaptoids then bent the rocks in the walls and flung it towards the escaping heroes. Hulk stepped forwards and punched the rocks away with his bare fists.
"Scatter!" Cap called, and everyone scattered in different directions. Lin quickly bent a metal shield around her and her men to block the Adaptoids boulder attacks. A boulder is about to crush them until Thor swooped in and smashed it away with his hammer. Hawkeye fired three trick arrows towards the Adaptoid on the right while it blocked by a earth wall two one struck it in the arm shocking it. Bolin quickly acted by bending two earth chunks and tossed them at the adaptioid forcing it back.
Lin used the distraction and tried to metal bend the Adaptoids themselves however nothing happened. She looked closer at the armour and saw why.
"They're made of platinum I can't bend them!" Lin exclaimed.
Iron Man flew in and blasted his repulsers at the Adaptoids from above and while the blasts did damage their armour it still gripped Iron Man in a bending grip.
"GAH!" Iron Man growled as he felt the Adaptoids bending the metal in his armour. "Note to self never bring a metal suit to a metal bending fight!"
"Tony!" Asami cried. She had to do something but shocking the robot wasn't going to work.
"Asami! I got an idea, you want to be a hero?!" Iron Man groaned as he felt his armour being pulled apart.
"What? Tony is this really the time!" Asami asked.
"Look just turn the dial on your shock glove and put your hand out!" Iron Man called.
The beauteous girl had no idea what he was talking about but now wasn't the time to ask questions. So with no time to lose she twisted the dial and then held her hand out targeting the Adaptoid. What happened next came quite suddenly, the glove surged and then unleashed a huge blast which blasted her back and struck the Adaptoid right in the chest releasing his grip on Iron Man. Thor then swooped in.
"HAVE AT THEE!" He tossed his hammer and it smashed right through the robot as it collapsed to the ground.
"Whoa." Asami said still recovering from the sensation. Iron Man landed and offered her a helping hand. "Tony how did?"
"You forget kid your old man based that shock glove off my repulsers and with a little rewiring I got it working the way it should." Iron Man explained with a smirk behind his helmet.
"Wow but ow!" Asami said still holding her hand slightly.
"Yeah its the surge from the hand it takes some getting used to." Iron Man chuckled."But hey if you ever want a crash course you just let me know." Asami smiled at that.
Lin kept cover from one Adaptoids boulder attacks while Hawkeye tried firing arrows to clear a path for Hulk while Widow fired blasts from her gauntlets. Hulk kept blasting boulders away.
Cap quickly joined Lin with Tenzin. "I can't bend the metal on these robots. Cap wondered what they could do and he had an idea.
"If you can't bend them try and bend the metal in my shield!" He said.
"What?" Lin questioned.
"Just be ready." Cap then charged out into battle. "Thor!"
"I am with you captain!" Thor replied and Cap tossed his shield towards the Adaptoid who only deflected it away. Thor quickly acted by tossing his hammer which slammed into the shield unleashing its Vibranium shockwave which knocked the Adaptoid off balance.
"NOW LIN!" Cap yelled. Lin shot up and before the shield hit the ground she focused all her chi on the shield. Amazingly the shield hovered over the ground she then moved into a stance moving her hand like she was twisting it. The shield span faster and faster and suddenly spikes emerged from the side she pulled it towards her and it sliced the Adaptoids right arm clean off before it twirled round again and sliced off its other arm.
Hulk took the opening, leaped and smashed the Adaptioid into the ground yelling and roaring as he punched it into the ground. Until finally he lifted the robot in the air and ripped it in half slamming it into the ground.
Hulk panted in exhaustion. "All new all different but still smash!" Hulk said.
Cap proceeded to pick up his shield and Lin bent the spikes back into it restoring it to its original shape. "Incredible." Tenzin said amazed.
"I've seriously gotta get one of those shields." Lin said more impressed.
"If we find one it's got your name on it." Black Widow smirked, to which Lin smirked back in return.
"Lets go people!" Bolin cried as he, Asami and Mako made it to the trolley.
"You heard him let's move!" Cap called and everyone boarded the trolley and they zoomed out of the prison at top speed.
However a blinding light appeared from the tunnel behind them. As they sped down the tunnel Bolin and Mako felt the light at their backs.
"Cap we've got company!" Mako called. Everyone on the rear cart of the trolley turned and saw a trolley manned by Chi Blockers and AIM Agents armed with laser rifles. Suddenly some arial drones were launched and started firing on them.
Thinking quickly Mako unleashed some fire fists which hit one of the drones blinding it while Bolin bent some earth boulders from the tunnel walls and tossed them at the drones which hit them and sent them crashing to the ground. However the Chi Blockers and AIM forces were still coming.
Bolin then Earthbent the walls of the tunnel caving it in behind them blocking the approaching forces.
"Try to chi-block that, fools!" Bolin exclaimed.
"Nice move kid!" Hawkeye called.
However at the front was a different story. "I wouldn't go celebrating just yet. Look!" Black Widow pointed and at the end of the tunnel they saw the Lieutenant, Task Master and several AIM mechs, Chi blockers, Agents and Equalist Mecha Tanks were waiting for them.
"Looks like we have a welcoming committee ahead!" Lin exclaimed.
"The way forward is blocked as is behind." Thor realised. Lin looked around and then up at the ceiling.
"Then we go up!" Lin quickly metal bent the railing from the ceiling ahead onto the track itself. "Stark!" She called to Iron Man. "I need you at the rear think you can blast us up!"
"Say no more chief!" Iron Man said with a two finger salute and flew all the way to the back of the trolly and grabbed the railing. "Jarvis divert power to booster maximum burn!"
"Diverting now." JARVIS replied. Within seconds Iron Mans boot jets blasted the trolley forwards a faster speeds than before.
"Hold on!" Lin exclaimed. The speeding trolley hit the rail from the ceiling and Lin quickly bent the rock ceiling making a hole which they blasted through to the tunnels above then Hulk stepped forwards and punched a hole in the next ceiling and sunlight blasted through. The trolley emerged in a city street and screeched to a halt, much to the shock of the passing citizens. The trolleys passengers all groaned from the experience.
"Well that wasn't so bad was it." Iron Man breathed after taking his helmet off much to the disagreement of everyone else.
Meanwhile:
Back at the isolation of the mountain cabin, Ms Marvel continued to watch over Korra as she mediated. She continued to dive into the visions of long ago.
Many years ago:
The vision opens to Republic City hall namely the council room, where the trial of Yakone was taking place. On the council was an older looking Sokka, along with the other council members. Toph and her Metal Benders were stood to the side and Aang was sat behind Yakone and his attorney.
The persecution Attorney then takes the stand. "Yakone has ruled Republic City's criminal empire for years. Yet he has always managed to stay out of the law's reach, until now." She explained while Yakone just smirked confidently, while Aang just glared behind him. "You will hear testimony, from dozens of his victims, and they will tell you, Yakone has maintained his grip on the underworld by using an ability that has been illegal for decades." She said before continuing.
"Bloodbending." The very mention of the word made Sokka narrow his eyes in contempt he remembered that technique all too well indeed from the war.
Yakone's defence attorney then stood and speaks for his defence. "The prosecution's entire case is built upon the make-believe notion that my client is able to bloodbend at will, at any time on any day." He protested at these accusations. "I remind the council that bloodbending is an incredibly rare skill and it can only be performed during a full moon." He explained as his client maintained his sinisterly confident smirk. "Yet, the witnesses will claim that my client used bloodbending at every other time except during a full moon." The defence Attorney said gesturing to his client and slamming his roll of papers in his hand. "It would be a mockery of justice to convict a man of a crime that is impossible to commit."
Aang kept watching from his seat.
Present day:
Korra then briefly awoke from her meditating trance much to Ms Marvels joy. "So what did you see."
"Just Yakone's trial but I still don't understand what this all means!" Korra said still not getting the full picture. Plus the heat within the box was getting to her too.
"Calm down, just keep meditating see if anything else happens." Ms Marvel assured. So following her friends council she continued to meditate.
Many years Ago:
The trial had reconvened after the council returned from their deliberation on the matter of Yakones fate. "Councilman Sokka will now deliver the verdict." The Bailiff announced.
Sokka stood from his seat and addressed the courtroom. "In my years, I have encountered people born with rare and unique bending abilities." He began recalling past times. "Why, I once bested a man with my trusty boomerang who was able to firebend with his mind." He then looked to Toph who stood to attention smiling. "Why, even metalbending was considered impossible for all of history until our esteemed Chief of Police, Toph Beifong, singlehandedly developed the skill." He said before looking to the crime boss. "The overwhelming amount of testimony and evidence has convinced this council that Yakone is one of these unique benders and he exploited his ability to commit these heinous crimes."Sokka spoke while Yakone continued to maintain his confident smirk.
"We find Yakone guilty of all charges and sentence him to life in prison." Sokka slammed his gavel having delivered his verdict.
The defence Attorney simply screwed up his papers and tossed them away in annoyance having lost the trial. Yakone however didn't seem disappointed in the slightest. He stood up from his seat almost ready to be taken his eyes bulged out and all of a sudden Sokka and the other councilmembers began to cry out in pain as they felt their limbs and bodies being twisted. They were being bloodbent. Toph shocked by this event tries to metal bend a cable towards Yakone only to stop her dead in her tracks with his stare causing her to be blood bent as well. Yakone lets out a sadistic laugh as all the people in the courtroom including Avatar Aang were trapped within his blood bending grip.
Aang struggles as he reaches his hand out to try and stop Yakone, but all in vain.
Present day:
Korra was breathing raggedly and deeply in distress. Ms Marvel looked at her greatly worried. "Korra." She whispered, so she reached her hand out and put her hand on hers just to try and calm her down. Yet she wondered what could she be seeing.
Republic City Hall:
Meanwhile back in the city, having learned of Tarrlok's deception, Tenzin immediately called a meeting of the council members. In the council room Tenzin along with The Avengers, Mako, Asami, Bolin and Lin waited until finally the council members followed by Chief Saikhan arrived.
"Thank you all for meeting us on such short notice." Tenzin addressed his fellow council members.
"Chief." Lin addressed Saikhan rather coldly not surprising after what Black Widow had told her.
"Lin." Saikhan said just as coldly before turning to Cap. "Rogers." Cap just maintained a calm expression.
"Have you news of Avatar Korra or Ms Tarrlok entered the council room in concern. However he was welcomed to the sight of all the glares of the Avengers and their allies. It was a miracle that Hulk hadn't ripped him to pieces yet.
"Yeah we do." Hawkeye said stepping forwards. "Oh wait I think I forgot something, lets see we're here, the councils here, your here." He then smirked. "O….h Yeah."
Out of nowhere he delivered a punch square in the middle of Tarrlok's face as he crashed to the ground holding his now broken nose. Much to the gasps of the other councilmen and Saikhan. Lin, Thor and Hulk just smirked at what had happened.
"I told you I'd punch you in the face bastard and I'm nothing if not a man of my word!" Hawkeye said angrily.
Tarrlok regained his composure as he stood up holding his nose. "Why did you do that!" Tarrlok demanded.
"With good reason!" Tenzin stepped forward pointing at him accusingly. "You kidnapped Korra and Kamala, Tarrlok!"
"I am shocked you would accuse me of such an evil act! I already explained: Equalists and AIM forces attacked us and took them!" Tarrlok said all innocent like.
"But there were no chi-blockers or AIM agents here last night." Tenzin continued pointing accusingly. "You planted the evidence, didn't you?"
"That is a ridiculous accusation!" Tarrlok protested.
"You can cut the innocent act Tarrlok!" Black Widow stepped forwards. "We know everything! The reason you tried playing Korra, how you played Lin, and even now, its all been an effort to seize control of the city."
"And Amon was your golden egg." Iron Man said stepping forwards. "Well guess what your goose is cooked!"
"Besides I could instantly tell you were lying the minute you told us your statement if AIM and the Equalists really did attack they would've taken you as well. Even your eyes couldn't lie." Black Widow said.
Tarrlok simply scoffed. "Your basing your accusations on facial expressions?!"
"It's true! He took her!" They all looked and saw the Page who was with Tarrlok last night He looked rather scared. "I was here when Avatar Korra and Ms Marvel arrived last night, but Councilman Tarrlok ordered me to leave." He explained terrified." I was on my way out when I saw Tarrlok bring them down to the garage."
Flashback:
The scene flashes back to the aftermath of Tarrlok besting Korra and Ms Marvel with Bloodbending. However as Tarrlok tossed them in the van and dodged the flame from Korra's mouth, what he didn't know was they were being watched by the Page.
Present day:
The Page stood terrified as everyone listened to his story and Thor held an even tighter grip on his hammer which began to spark. "That is nonsense!" Tarrlok said enraged as he pointed to the hiding Page "Everyone knows you're nothing but a squeaky-voiced liar!"
Iron Man just held up his arm as a small missile appeared from his gauntlet. "I'd pipe down if I were you." He said.
"Why did you wait until now to 'fess up?" Lin asked folding her arms, while Cap and Widow could see the Page was clearly afraid of something. They could see the fear in his eyes.
"I was terrified to tell because…" The Page said trembling before he looked up to the captive audience. "Because Tarrlok is a bloodbender! He bloodbent Avatar Korra and Ms Marvel!" Everyone looked at Tarrlok in shock.
"What!" Hawkeye said in great shock. Cap then stood forward shield at the ready.
"Don't make this even worse for yourself, just tell us where you have Korra and Ms Marvel!" Cap demanded , Hawkeye trained his bow and arrow at Tarrlok while Iron Man trained his rocket on him and his helmet reassembled, Thor readied his hammer as Lin, Tenzin, Mako, Bolin and Asami took their respective stances. Tarrlok looked with bulging eyes.
Black Widow then pulled out one of her pistols and fired to the right of Tarrlok head surprising the council member as the bullet hit the wall with a bang! Widow then trained it on Tarrlok himself.
"You either tell us where they are or else the next one goes between your eyes!" She said with deadly conviction in her voice.
However he still refused to talk as he glared at his opponents. "Tarrlok." Tenzin began. "By the authority of the Republic City Council you are herby stripped of your title as councilman and to be placed under immediate arrest for high treason against the Republic!"
Tarrlok still glared until Mako had, had enough waiting. "Hulk." He began. "SMASH HIM!"
"FINALLY!" Hulk grinned. He charged at Tarrlok and grabbed him holding him in the air in a very tight grip. "If I recall I made you a certain promise!" He tightened his grip on Tarrlok ready to crush him.
Thor then stepped forwards with his hammer in hand. "Its either the brute or the hammer deceiver! Tell us where are Korra and Ms Marvel!"
However just as Tarrlok was nearly crushed suddenly Hulk felt his grip had loosened, as he and Thor cried in pain feeling their limbs twist. Thor dropped his hammer as Tarrlok was released and turned his Bloodbending on everyone else in the room. Hawkeye and Widow dropped their weapons out of pain from their insides being turned inside out, and Cap dropped his shield, Iron Man struggled from all the pain as he tried to train his rocket launcher on Tarrlok it fired but missed its target. Mako, Bolin, Asami, Tenzin,Lin, Saikhan and the council members were all forced to the ground.
"As I told The Avengers Tenzin. I. AM. THE REPUBLIC!" Tarrlok exclaimed. Everyone was unconscious however the only one left standing was Hulk as he tried to fight it.
"Hmm your a big one, this could take a while." Tarrlok focused his Bloodbending on the green brute. Hulk growled in pain as he felt the influence on him, much like when he confronted Dracula in saving Widow. However with every force of will he tried moving closer to Tarrlok much to his shock and focused his bending to bring him down but despite the pain Hulk got closer and closer.
"H..How!" Tarrlok breathed.
" Did you forget. Who. I am?!" Hulk growled as he forced his arms up ready to unleash his full force.
"HULK. IS. THE. STRONGEST ONE THERE ISSSSS!" Hulk unleashed a seismic clap blasting Tarrlok away as he crashed through three walls all the way to the outside street rolling along the floor.
In the council room The Hulk collapsed to his knees then fell flat on his face, then reverted back to Bruce Tarrlok regained consciousness and hurried to his van parked outside and drove away as fast as he could.
The sound of the revving engine could be heard in the council room. Just then Moljnir slowly started moving and sparked with electricity until it was in the hand of a certain Thunder God. He slowly got up and opened his eyes surging with electricity and the echos of thunder could be heard.

Tarrlok sped through the streets in his van to try and get away. His secret was revealed he had to escape but he still had a valuable hostage, or rather two. Suddenly a loud clap of thunder could be heard. A blast of thunder struck the front of Tarrlok's escape vehicle which catapulted it in the air and sent rolling down the road and crashed. Tarrlok was disoriented by the crash. He kicked the door off the side and crawled out of the van with blood running down the side of his head.
He looked up with shrunken pupils for hovering above him was a seriously pissed off God of Thunder. "When you took Korra and Kamala you earned my iron mortal!" He yelled holding his energised hammer high. "LAY DOWN YOUR ARMS AND SURRENDER!"
Tarrlok growled glaring he suddenly realised he was close to a water grate he bent the water from it and used it as a water sled. Thor flung his thunder at Tarrlok who avoided all his thunder strikes as he fled on his ice sled from all the grates he passed.
Thor continues his pursuit as Tarrlok sped away as fast as he could. Soon they arrived at Kyoshi bridge, Tarrlok turned round and manipulated the very ocean firing water blasts towards Thor who merely swatted them away with his hammer. Suddenly Tarrlok bent a huge water blast towards Thor who tried to push it back with his free arm.
"You think to use water against me fool! I will show you THUNDER!" Thor exclaimed and a large storm cloud gathered around him and thunder struck his hammer and Thor directed it at Tarrlok's water blast and the mix of the two surged right at Tarrlok's arms which caused him to yell in pain. He pulled away releasing his influence.
He looked and saw his arms had third degree burns and his sleeves had been burnt off. He breathed in pain. Luckily he was still able to bend and just as Thor was about to strike him down. He lifted his arms and the Asguardian cried in pain as he was now trapped in his Bloodbending grip.
"I don't know how you survived that but this time you will not be a hindrance to me!" Tarrlok growled in anger.
Thor growled as he was on his knees and his hammer on the ground trapped in Tarrlok's blood bending grip. He slowly lifted his arm and his hammer returned to him and a spark of thunder struck it and blasted the Water Tribe councilman away. He bent the water and fled. Thor twirled his hammer and took flight giving chase.
Tarrlok bent the water from the grates and blasted down the streets he looked behind and saw no sign of Thor. He soon arrived at the small bridges when suddenly. A large column of thunder blasted down cutting off his path.

"NOWHERE TO RUN DECEIVER!" Thors voice boomed as he descended with his hammer in hand. "Your treachery ends here. Now tell me where Korra and Ms Marvel are and I may spare you the wrath of Asgard!"
However all Tarrlok could do was chuckle. "Don't make me laugh, you'd never take a life it's not in your character is it." He said as Thor glared at him.
"I would have many life times to clear you off the walls mortal I might be willing to make an exception!" Thor glared.
"Its tragic though for all the power you Avengers claim to have, you have but one weakness." Tarrlok glared with a sinister smirk.
Thor was puzzled by this when suddenly Tarrlok bent the water under the bridge and used the tendril to grab a passing woman who screamed in shock. Thor growled seeing he'd taken a hostage.
"You value the lives of others above your own, and that is why you are loosing to Amon and MODOK." Tarrlok then proceeded to toss the woman off the bridge much to Thors horror, he quickly flew off the bridge grabbed the woman in his arms and flew back up onto the bridge placing her down.
"Are you hurt?" Thor asked.
"Yes I'm fine just stop that psycho!" She said to Thor who saw Tarrlok wasn't there he took to the air and searched the skyline for any sign of the villain. He landed in an alley and suddenly heard a crash. He rushed through the alleyway and saw someone was unconscious on the ground and the presence of tire tracks.
It didn't take long to realise who was responsible for this. He knelt down to check on the victim and luckily he was unharmed. Thor glared down the road where the tire tracks were.
"Grr a cowards retreat! He knew I would never fire at his back!" Thor growled.
"My my." Suddenly a voice caught his attention, he turned round and saw the victim standing up behind him dusting himself off. Thor was most surprise. "Some people just have no manners, but then again what do you expect of mortals." The 'victim' smirked. "Wouldn't you agree."
Suddenly the victims image began to change and soon standing in his place was a man with long black hair in green and black robes, golden armour with what looked like curved horns on the helmet. He carried a staff in his hand with a blue crystal.
"Brother." He smirked.
Thors surprised look turned to a glare. "Loki!" He growled. "I should've known."
Loki the god of mischief simply snickered. "He heh nice to see you too, how long has it been there was a collision of universes, The Beyonder and oh thats right you left me to die. Not so much as a hello, or how was your weekend."
"Do I look to be in a gaming mood!?" Thor said never tolerating his brothers antics.
"Hm tut tut your temper certainly isn't helping but then again you always did use brawn rather than brains." Loki smirked which resulted in Thor grabbing his brother by the collar.
"I have no time for your schemes Loki! Though I suspected your involvement in this. You gave MODOK the Norn stones to open that portal to Asgard didn't you!" Thor demanded. Suddenly Loki disappeared from his grasp.
"Well well you do have brains after all." Thor looked and saw his brother was leaning against a wall. "But yes that was my doing and for good reason."
"Say what you mean less you try my patience further." Thor growled armed with his hammer.
The god of mischief simply shrugged as he walked around. "Do you recall when you and your Midgard friends confronted the Beyonder, when he collided all our worlds into his little Battleworld."
"I recall he played you for a fool." Thor smirked.
Loki simply glared at that statement but none the less continued. "While surviving his games of warping reality, I made an interesting discovery a rift which showed me a vision of a world the Beyonder hadn't touched."
"This one." Thor realised.
"Indeed, and I must say it's become quite a curiosity to me." Loki said as the scenes flashed to Loki discovering the rift during the events of the Battleworld. It was showing him visions of the benders world. "Mortals able to harness the power of the elements themselves, and this Avatar being able to wield all of the elements who's power could rival that of our own." Loki continued. "But to have such power in the hands of a mere child not when its most deserving of one more worthy."
"You, worthy of the power of the Avatar, you jest at such a thing brother!" Thor scoffed.
"Oh I assure you I jest not, but what takes my interest the most is how this Avatar serves as the bridge between the spirit and Physical worlds." Loki explained with his finger up. "I needed to know more so I set in motion events that brings us to this moment."
"You gave the Norn stones to MODOK and you knew The Avengers would intervene." Thor realised.
"I will admit your intervention wasn't planned nor was you landing in this realm. However it did work to my advantage." Loki continued. "Your insignificant efforts in this war between the Benders and Non Benders has given me the time I need to study this world."
"So I was right you've been manipulating Tarrlok all along!" Thor realised from his brothers words.
Loki however just chuckled at that as he sat on one of the vehicles present. "Dear brother as much as I would like to take credit, I had no part in that. The mortals actions were all his own, all I did was give him the push he needed. It would seem there's a lot you don't know about Tarrlok." Loki voiced. "…Or Amon."
"What do you speak of?" Thor questioned.
"Oh I mean what I say, consider this. Amon, a man who hides behind a mask claims he does what's in the interest of a none bender uses a mask to hide who he is. Tarrlok a man who has committed himself to give a bright future for this Republic, yet deceives everyone for his own future where he alone rules." Thor knew Loki was just trying to get in his head but he couldn't help but wonder the meaning behind it.
"If anything they are both the lesser of two evils, both seek control but for all the different reasons." Loki continued as he walked to his brother and appeared behind him. "But while were on the matter of deception, regarding MODOK, what has he to gain by aiding Amons so called righteous cause his hate of Inhumans and Benders or for his own hidden agendas, using machines with the power of benders that Amon would never approve, this is all a game of deception. But the question is who is deceiving who?"
"Why should I listen to anything you say brother?" Thor questioned angrily.
"I never said it was free advice, you have no choice but to unravel the meaning of this riddle." Loki smirked turning his back on his brother.
"Don't turn your back on me Loki!" Thor growled.
"Oh no Odinson maybe you shouldn't have turned your back on me." Loki said with his back turned. Thor fired a blast of thunder from his hammer which missed Loki and hit a nearby building.
"Don't challenge me brother." Thor said in a threatening tone.
"Temper temper brother, while I would relish the thought of retribution against you and The Avengers I have other matters to attend to." Loki said to him but then pointed his staff towards Thor. "But know this. Our next encounter will be a time of my choosing and my choosing alone. Until then enjoy your current antagonists."
Thor however thought differently. "You're not going anywhere until I have my answers brother!" He said holding his hammer ready to strike.
"Ta ta for now."
"LOKI!" Thor lunged at his brother to try and grab him but he disappeared in a bright light. The Thunder God looked around and his brother was truly gone. Yet the thoughts of the god of mischiefs words still lingered in his mind.
City Hall:
"Steve, Steve!" A voice called Cap was slowly regaining consciousness he could faintly make out a person and she looked a lot like a certain girl he had feelings for during the war. "Steve."
"P..Peggy?" Cap groaned but then suddenly. *SLAP!*
"Wake up Rogers!" The image soon became clearer and it was in fact Lin standing over him.
"L..Lin." Cap said rather surprised as he slowly sat up while holding his side. As Bloodbending did leave a nasty side effect of weakened states.
"You okay?" Lin asked.
"Yeah I'm okay." Cap replied. "I have to admit I've seen a lot of strange things since being thawed but this ranks somewhere in the middle."
Lin smiled at that and went to wake up Tenzin. "Wake up!" She slapped Tenzin on cheek which shot him awake.
Iron Mans systems soon rebooted as the armour shot into life. He groaned as he got up and his helmet retracted. "Gah!" He groaned. "The last time I got a headache like this there'd better be a boat load of Margaritas involved."
"Negative sir, this turned out a lot worse than the last time you drank a boat load of margaritas." JARVIS Said.
Tony rolled his eyes at that. "Yeah but agh it feels like someones been playing pin ball with my insides." Just then he noticed Asami and Mako regaining consciousness. He went over to them.
"You two alright?" He asked.
"Yeah." Mako answered.
"Just about." Asami answered as Mako helped her up.
"Ugh.." Black Widow groaned as she woke up. "I forgot how fun it was having your blood manipulated like that."
"Look at the bright side Nat." Groaned her archer partner as he regained consciousness. "At least you didn't wake up as Dracula's slave this time."
"You okay partner?" Widow then asked.
"Yeah I will be just as soon as I kick that guys ass!" Hawkeye said.
Tenzin helped Bruce to his feet as he regained consciousness. "Are you alright Bruce?" He asked.
"Yeah I'm okay not the worst Hulk aftermath I've ever had." Bruce admitted before looking at himself. Namely his pants. "At least I've got pants on this time."
Just then Bolin came round from his unconscious state. "Ughh! Man!" Bolin groaned. "I had this awful dream that Korra and Kamala were both taken by this evil bloodbender." He said looking to Mako, Asami and Iron Man. "So weird."
"Bolin, that really happened. He knocked us out." Asami confirmed still feeling a little weak.
"Are you serious?" Bolin exclaimed rather shocked.
"Yes…" Bruce said when suddenly he realised. "Tarrlok! Where's Tarrlok!" He said shocked.
"Hes long gone, and so is Thor." Saikhan said when suddenly said God of Thunder landed back in the council hall.
"Oh now he isn't." Saikhan said as everyone looked.
"Thor please tell me you got him?!" Bolin asked.
"Nay he scuttled away like a spineless insect using an innocent as a shield!" Thor replied but he smashed one of the chairs with his bare fist shattering it like match wood. "No matter where in the nine realms we are Loki's treachery remains unchanged!"
"Wait Loki!" Iron Man jumped in surprise as this caught everyones attention.
"Loki, as in Loki that god of mischief from your stories! The one who lead that alien invasion on your world, the one who tried to take over Asgard!" Bolin realised.
"Aye to name a few, and unfortunately my brother." Thor confirmed.
"Wow and I thought I had family problems." Asami said.
"Thor what are you talking about?" Cap then asked.
"Loki, hes been manipulating events from the start he gave MODOK the Norn Stones which set in motion the events that brought us to this world!" Thor explained.
"But why?" Bruce asked.
"Apparently he discovered this worlds existence during our confrontation with The Beyonder. Why he's come here I know not." Thor explained.
"Wait you said Loki was a trickster right?" Mako recalled from Thor's stories about Asgard. "So could he have manipulated Tarrlok?"
"I had the same thought young Mako, but nay Tarrlok's actions were all his own all my brother did was add fuel to the fire." Thor replied. "Something about this version of Midgard has intrigued him."
"Well that can't be good." Hawkeye realised.
"Agreed, but right now Loki doesn't matter rescuing Korra and Kamala does." Cap said.
"Steven is right." Tenzin agreed.
"I'll alert the whole force." Saikhan then said.
"Saikhan if you do find Tarrlok approach with extreme caution and notify us at once." Lin said.
"Understood." Saikahn said. "Chief." He said before he and the council members took their leave.
"How long do you think we've been out?" Black Widow asked.
"We've only been out for a little while. Maybe we can still pick up Tarrlok's trail." Lin said to the group.
"Hold up I think I have an idea." Tony said. "Its a long shot and I don't know if it'll work but its our best chance." His helmet then closed around his head and his face plate lowered.
"Jarvis, I think it's that time." Iron Man said.
"The Past Curfew Protocol sir?" JARVIS asked.
"Thats it activate and scan." Iron Man replied.
"Scanning now." JARVIS replied.
"What's the Past Curfew Protocol?" Asami asked.
"Well believe it or not Asami this isn't the first time Kamala's bitten off more than she can chew." Iron Man explained from his helmet hud. "So when we made her suit I made sure to have a tracking device implanted inside so if she was ever captured or missing we could ping it to get a location."
"And why haven't you mentioned this sooner?!" Lin asked rather annoyed.
"Like I said I don't know if its gonna work in this universe but we can still try."Iron Man explained.
"Guess its better than nothing." Bolin said.
After a few minutes of scanning there wasn't much hope. Until. "Sir." JARVIS sounded getting everyones attention. "I do not have an exact fix, but I am picking up a faint signal." JARVIS reported.
"Where about's JARVIS?" Asami asked.
Iron Mans arc light then projected a holomap of Republic City. "Its emanating from a remote mountainous area outside the city." JARVIS reported as The marker shone red showing the location.
"Thats a pretty isolated spot." Hawkeye saw, and then Black Widow realised something.
"The perfect place to hide something!" She said.
"Or someone!" Lin soon caught on too.
"Korra!" Mako breathed in great shock.
"Kamala!" Bruce realised it too.
"There's not a moment to lose!" Tenzin said to Cap.
"Right Thor, Tony fly on ahead we'll follow in the Quinjet!" Cap ordered.
"With haste!" Thor exclaimed as he soared into the sky.
"Try and keep up!" Iron Man agreed as he blasted off. Suddenly Bruce growled and groaned as his eyes turned bright green and seconds later he was The Hulk once again with an almighty roar!
"Tarrlok better hope for his sake I don't get there first." Hulk growled as he leaped out of the council room and bound after Thor and Iron Man.
"I only hope we're not too late." Tenzin said greatly worried.
"Lets get them home!" Cap said and so the group hurried out of City Hall to the Quinjet.
Meanwhile:
Back in the mountain cabin Korra continues to mediate on these visions. Judging by her tense expression the visions are becoming intense.
Years Ago:
Aang and the court room are being Blood Bent by Yakone, who maintains his sadistic grin even blood bending his own lawyer. Sokka glared as he was being blood bent. Yakones gaze turned to Toph who's arm was being manipulated to grab the keys from her deputy and floated over to Yakone and using the keys she unlocked the cuffs that fell to the ground. Yakone rubbed his wrists then bent the whole courtroom into unconsciousness. All except Avatar Aang who Yakone levitated over in front of him.
"Yakone." Aang groaned as he felt his arm bent behind his back. "You won't get away with this!"
Yakone just let out an evil sadistic laugh. "Republic City's mine, Avatar. I'll be back one day to claim it." He vowed.
He then bent Aang right into the stairs of the council chamber and Yakone ran for the exit, as he runs outside he leaps into a cart pulled by an ostrich looking animal and rides away from city hall.
Inside Aang groans as his robes flap around in the air as he regains consciousness then suddenly his eyes and Air Nomad tattoos light up in a white light briefly as he grew a determined look. Seconds later he bursts out of city hall on a large air scooter as he takes pursuit of the escaping crime lord.
Yakone is far ahead but The Avatar was catching up, just as the criminal was about to escape suddenly Aang rides high above and sends out air bending discs which completely sever the reins from the ostrich and the cart crashes into the road onto its side.
Aang circles the carriage on his air scooter keeping a sharp look out for any signs of without warning Yakone bursts through the door of the cart and once again blood bends Aang who groans in pain as he feels his limbs being twisted as he's forced to the ground at Yakones feet as he jumps off the carriage.
"This time I'm gonna put you to sleep for good!" Yakone said with deadly intent and Aang groaned in immense pain as he was levitated into the air being twisted and turned while Yakones eyes bulged out. Aang could feel the immense pain and was close to death until suddenly.
His eyes and tattoos lit up as he entered the Avatar State and Yakones Blood bending had no effect on him much to the latter's horror. Air swirled around Aang then he bent the earth around Yakone before he could escape trapping him only his head and neck were exposed.
Aang placed his thumbs on Yakones chest and forehead as he struggles to free himself. However as he soon discovered his efforts were in vain.
"I'm taking away your bending, for good." Aang said to him and Yakone struggled and yelled as the Avatars eyes and tattoos lit up as he used his energy bending to remove Yakones water bending and ultimately his blood bending. Soon the light faded and Yakone fell into an unconscious state. Aang stepped back rather tired.
"Its over." Aang finally said as the great threat to the city had ended.
Present day:
The light flashes back to the present day. Korra woke from her meditation to see Ms Marvel looking concerned.
"Korra..what..what did you see?" She asked.
Korra took a moment to take in all she'd seen before she spoke. "Aang." She said. "this whole time…he was trying to warn me about Tarrlok."
"Wha.. what do you mean?" Ms Marvel asked now curious.
"Kamala, Yakone was a blood bender too, he could bend people without a full moon." Korra explained.
"Just like Tarrlok! But then that would mean…"Ms Marvel realised.
"Yes..hes…" However before Korra could finish the two heard the door open. Outside Tarrlok with his arms burned came down the stairs.
"My life is a disaster now, thanks to you two." Tarrlok growled furiously.
"So your little Blood Bending secrets out." Korra smirked in the container.
"Let me guess Black Widow figured it out didn't she?" Ms Marvel smirked also.
Tarrlok growls at them both before turning his back on them. "And I know how you bloodbent me and Kamala without a full moon. You're Yakone's son." Korra then said accusingly.
Tarrlok still had his back turned to the box. "I was his son, but in order to win Republic City, I had to become someone else." Tarrlok corrected her. "My father failed because he tried to rule the city from its rotten underbelly. My plan was perfect. I was to be the city's savior. But you, you and those Avengers have ruined everything!" Tarrlok turned angrily to the box.
"Its part of the job." Ms Marvel smirked before turning to a serious expression. "So thats what this was about. Amon was the opportunity you needed to try and succeed where your dad had failed. Well guess what sometimes history likes to repeat itself he failed back then and you failed now!"
"She's right Tarrlok, the jig is up and you have nowhere to go." Korra agreed.
"Oh no." Tarrlok corrected as he walked away. "No, I'll escape and start a new life. And you're both coming as my hostages."
"You'll never get away with this!" Korra pounded on the box.
"Yeah no matter where you run you can't hide from the rest of the Avengers they'll come for you no matter what!" Ms Marvel pounded as well while Tarrlok climbed the stairs.
"Then…I look forward to the chase." Tarrlok said looking at his injuries on his arms.
However when he reached the top of the stairs he received a nasty shock, when the walls of the cabin were blasted open sending Tarrlok crashing back. Korra and Ms Marvel were alerted by the explosion. Tarrlok regained consciousness and was soon greeted by a certain group. It wasn't The Avengers.
"Amon!" Tarrlok said surprised as he saw Amon, MODOK, Task Master the Lieutenant and several AIM Agents armed with shields and taser sticks. "a..and you must be MODOK!"
"Ah a pleasure to make your acquaintance councilman." MODOK greeted and upon hearing his voice the two girls in the box were horrified. "Did you honestly think you weren't being followed." MODOK chuckled.
"It is time for you to be equalized." Amon then said as the agents, Lieutenant and Task Master took up a fighting stance.
Tarrlok however confidently smirked, as he'd been waiting for this chance. "You fools!" He cackled. "You've never faced bending like mine."
He made several blood bending movements and within in an instants AIM agents and the two enforcers crumbled to their knees struggling in pain. TaskMaster tried to break free to no avail.
However the only ones unaffected were MODOK and Amon. Amon walked towards Tarrlok completely unaffected. The councilman was horrified and tried to blood bend him again and though it stopped Amon in a great struggle it still had no affect as he continued forwards. Tarrlok tried blood bending MODOK to no avail nothing happened. This shouldn't be possible.
"What?" He whispered in horror and surprise. "What are you?"
"We are the solution." Amon simply said and suddenly MODOK'S robotic arm grabbed the water tribe councilman and pulled him right to his large face.
"B..But how!" Tarrlok breathed in horror.
"You ignorant fool, I am more machine than man so how can you bend what is not there." MODOK smirked much to Tarrlok's horror. "I do admit blood bending interests me the ability to control the water in ones blood is intriguing. However it is a reminder that your kind are nothing but trash waiting to be thrown away. You manipulated and deceived this city on both sides to benefit your cause, but unwittingly you've been aiding ours as well." MODOK smirked. "In that respect you have been our greatest asset Tarrlok."
Tarrlok looked in surprise and horror. "However…your usefulness to us is at an end!" He tossed the water tribe councilman to the ground. "He's yours Amon."
Without a word Amon grabbed Tarrlok by the back of the neck and lifts his hand to his head much to the latter's horror.
Within the confines of the box, Korra and Ms Marvel hear Tarrlok's scream from upstairs in anguish. This meant only one thing. Amon took his bending away. They knew they were next.
Tarrlok collapsed to the ground as the AIM agents, Task Master and Lieutenant had regained their strength and consciousness. While MODOK grabbed Tarrlok by the waist with his robotic arm.
"We will take care of him." Amon said to the group. "You four retrieve The Avatar and Ms Marvel."
"Do not underestimate them stun them first and then restrain and capture." MODOK also instructed.
"My pleasure I'll shock the box to knock them out." The Lieutenant said smirking.
From the box Korra and Ms Marvels eyes widened at that. "Korra what are we gonna do?!" Ms Marvel said nearly panicking.
The Avatar looked around the box and at the bars, then glances a her arm namely the band around it then at Ms Marvel namely at a certain thing round her neck. "Kamala your scarf!" Ms Marvel looked at her scarf and the bars above, she realised what Korra had planned to do they had to act fast.
Outside the Lieutenant lead the AIM Agents and Task Master down stairs.
"Just make it quick and no mistakes this time!" Task Master warned the Lieutenant who could only glare at the AIM enforcer.
"You know I was saving this for Captain America." The Lieutenant said pulling out his electro rods. "But payback on you two brats will do me very nicely."He then struck the bottom of the box, and the scream of the two girls could be heard. However all was not was it seemed.
Inside the box, Korra and Ms Marvel were hanging from the bars using both ends of Ms Marvels scarf wrapped around the roof with one of Korra's arm bands. The electricity surged through the box but it didn't affect the two girls.
The bulb above the cage explodes and the Lieutenant eventually steps away from the cage. Task Master then steps forward and opens the box to find the two girls unconscious lying on top of each other at the box floor.
"Tie them up." Task Master ordered.
Suddenly. Korra unleashes a fire plume from her foot causing the box to explode forcing the AIM Agents back taking Task Master and the Lieutenant by surprise.
Ms Marvel emerged from the flames and avoided an incoming blast from the AIM Agents shock stick. Then extended her hands and slammed the two agents into the wall. Her hands returned to normal size. "Hah I'm back!" She said happily.
However Task Master and the Lieutenant armed themselves with their respective weapons ready to attack. Korra then leaped into the frame and slammed the ground with her fist sending an earth shockwave through the ground knocking the Lieutenant off his feet. Task Master however used Black Panthers agility to leap into the air and was about to strike Korra.
"EMBIGGEN!" Ms Marvel yelled as she enlarged her hands and slammed Task Master into the roof knocking him out.
"Kamala lets go!" Korra called and the two hurried up the stairs to escape.
Outside Tarrlok was being loaded into an AIM transport truck. Just as Amon was about to close the door they heard a crashing noise. Blasting out of the door was Korra and Ms Marvel. In slow motion the duos eyes locked with Amon and MODOKs.
They look each other down. Korra quickly bends the snow around them and fires ice spikes towards Amon but they don't even touch them. MODOK had erected his force shield around them.
The two girls quickly fled as Amon and MODOK gave chase. MODOK energised his head blaster and fired at Korra.
"KORRA LOOK OUT!" Ms Marvel pushed Korra out of the way and took the blast in the back as she cried in pain.
"KAMALA!" Korra cried as she caught her in her arms. Luckily her costume took the brunt of the blast it just left a slight burn mark.
Korra glared at MODOK who sped towards them at top speed. She quickly bent the snow around her forming a smoke screen but as MODOK blasted through Korra carried Ms Marvel bridal style and bent the snow around her feet to slide down a steep slope down the mountain side.
Amon stopped in his tracks but MODOK flew off after them firing lasers from his head piece. Korra dodged the blasts as best she could and swereved around the trees. Suddenly she saw an ideal escape route. MODOK drew ever closer, but Korra knew what to do she rocketed into the air by fire bending from her feet then with one quick motion she bent the earth below MODOK hitting him right in the lower jets disabling them. MODOK flew out of control and crashed into the snow slope below. He looked and saw his escaping prisoners disappear from view. He growled in frustration.
The sound of someone coming down the slope could be heard and he looked to see Amon standing above him. "I thought you told them not to underestimate them. Seems they aren't the only ones who are incompetent MODOK."
MODOK could only growl in defeat.
Korra looks back nearly petrified as she waterbends down the mountain carrying the unconscious Ms Marvel. Swaying right and left to avoid all the trees, suddenly she trips up on a root, falls on her back holding her friend as they slid down the slope and hit a tree back first.
Snow dropped on top of them groaned as she then realised she was still holding her polymorph friend.
"Kamala!" She sat up and looked to see her unconscious. "Kamala come on wake up!" She panicked hoping she wasn't seriously hurt. She placed her head close to her chest and could hear her heart beating and she heard her teeth chattering which meant she was cold.
With haste she took off the furry skirt she wore and then wrapped it around Ms Marvel as a means of keeping her warm as she hugged her to share her body temperature.
"Come on Kamala, stay warm okay…we'll be okay..I promise we'll be okay." She said to her as she held her close in the ever biting chill trying to stay awake herself.
Hours later the snow storm continued, and Korra lay under the tree with Ms Marvel covered in snow and unconscious. However the sound of footsteps could be heard or rather paw prints. For Naga had arrived on the scene she had been tracking them and soon found her owner and her friend. She licked Korra's face several times trying to wake her up.
Soon Korra woke up and saw her Polar Bear dog standing over them. "Naga." Korra said as she hugged her head. "You came looking for us, good girl." She said as Naga licked her face and Ms Marvels.
Moments later Korra had carried Ms Marvel onto Naga's saddle and soon she mounted up too but lay on the saddle close to her friend. "Take us home girl."Slowly but surely Naga carried the two weakened friends back towards the city.
Back at the cabin, Thor and Iron Man had at last arrived on the scene they looked to see the cabins front completely demolished.
"Oh no."Thor breathed a giant thud was heard and they saw the Hulk who looked at the destroyed cabin front in horror and anger he lunged forwards and leaped into the cabin just as the Quinjet landed on site.
"TARRLOK!" Hulk roared Iron Man and Thor arrived in the cabin expecting the worst soon followed by Black Widow and the others weapons at the ready. Widow surveyed the area with her pistols out.
"There's no-one here." Widow realised.
"Search the cabin and outside!" Cap ordered and so Thor and Widow headed down stairs while Cap, Hulk,Iron Man, Mako, Bolin, Asami and Tenzin searched the cabin. Lin and Hawkeye searched outside.
They looked around and could see the front of the cabin had been destroyed by some kind of explosion, but before Iron Man could scan the damage.
"Captain! Tenzin!" Thor yelled and they hurried to the door and found Thor holding a certain scarf in his hand. Asami took the scarf and instantly recognised it.
"Kamala's scarf!"She realised in horror.
"Thats not the only thing." Nat came in and held up a certain arm band too.
"Thats Korra's arm band!" Bolin realised Mako quickly took the arm band came to a horrifying realisation.
"They were here." He realised holding the armband close to his face.
"Oh no please please don't let us be too late." Tenzin said in great concern.
Hulk breathed in and out heavily until finally. "NO!" He smashed the wall with his fists denting it.
All seemed lost, had they failed them? However. "Cap!" Called Hawkeye's voice. "We found something!"
The group hurried outside and saw what Lin and Hawkeye had discovered close to the slope. "Looks like someone went down the slope as if on a snow board." Hawkeye examined the tracks.
"This wasn't made by any board." Lin realised. "This snows been water bent."
"Korra!" Tenzin breathed with hope.
"She and Kamala must've escaped!" Asami realised.
"Pardon me Avengers." JARVIS interrupted. "I believe I have a fix on miss Kahn's location." Iron Mans arc light displayed the hold-map. "She seems to be headed down back towards the city."
"Thats not too far from us!" Mako realised.
"Iron Man, Thor, Hulk follow that signal we'll comb the forest in the Quin jet." Cap ordered and so the three flew/leaped off and began the search.
The snow storm persisted, Iron Man searched the sky with power shifted to his arc light. "Anything Jarvis?" He asked.
"Negative sir, the storm is interfering with the sensors." JARVIS replied. Suddenly Iron Mans thrusters flickered and he nearly dropped out of the sky if he hadn't recovered.
"Whoa and sooner or later I'm gonna have to land this storms freezing my jets." Iron Man realised.
"Iron Man anything?" Cap called on the coms.
"Nothing the storms scrambling the signal." Iron Man replied.
Not too far away the Quin Jet scoured the area around the forest for any sign of the girls. Widow and Lin were at the pilot seat and co pilot seat. However like Iron Man the jet was having trouble in the storm.
"Cap we're going to have to land soon the storms messing with the sensors." Widow said.
"Just do what you can Nat, we keep looking until we find them." Cap said.
"Captain Rogers is correct given the current temperatures if Miss Korra and Miss Kahn don't get warm soon they might perish, as we do not know their current condition." JARVIS agreed.
This brought an air of concern among the group in the jet. "Then we keep looking no matter what!" Mako said even more determined to find them. While Asami was concerned for her friends she couldn't help but look a little hurt.
On the ground Hulk bounded through the forest searching for any sign of the girls. Yet so far he had no luck. Thor suddenly dropped down from the trees having searched the sky above.
"Anything?" Thor asked.
"Nothing." Hulk said it looked like their efforts would come to nothing, when suddenly.
"OWOOOOOOOOOO." A howl echoed through the air.
"What was that?" Thor asked.
Hulk listened to the howl carefully and he suddenly realised what or rather who it was. Without a word he leaped away bouncing through the trees.
"Hulk!" Thor cried but he'd already disappeared from view. He called the other Avengers. "Avengers Hulk just stormed away."
"Thats nothing new Thor?" Hawkeye said.
"No we heard a howl in the trees something about it alerted him." Thor then said.
In the jet this had peaked everyones attention especially the young fire bender. "JARVIS can you path the sound through?" He asked.
"Patching through now Master Mako." JARVIS replied. Everyone listened intently when suddenly they heard the howl through Thors com link.
"Wait! That sounds like Naga!" Mako realised with hope in his voice.
"Thor follow Hulk to that sound we'll converge on your position and hurry!" Cap relayed.
"At once!" Thor said and with one swing of his hammer he took to the sky.
Naga continued her track through the forest with her barely conscious some lights appeared above the polar bear dog who growled in defense. Just then Hulk and Thor arrived on the scene.
"Over there!" Hulk called and as the jet landed Iron Man arrived running over to Naga followed by Mako and the other Avengers.
"Korra! Kamala!" Tenzin cried Korra woke up from her unconscious state to see Tenizn and the other Avengers coming towards them in the snow. "Oh thank goodness." They saw how beaten and injured the two of them looked.
"Kamala is she okay?" Black Widow asked.
"She's okay…just stunned." Korra said barely able to speak.
"Where's Tarrlok how'd you two get away?" Lin asked.
"Give them some space!" Mako pushed through the three of them. As he picked up Korra first then Nat quickly proceeded to pick up Ms Marvel.
"Easy kid I got you." Nat said holing her bridal style.
Hawkeye then came up and felt Ms Marvels cheek. "She's as cold as ice." He realised.
"Lets get them in the jet." Cap notioned and so they all followed back to the jet as Mako held Korra in her arms Asami looked with a rather pained impression, one that didn't go unnoticed by Iron Man.
Soon the Quinjet took off into the sky and blasted off towards the city. Inside Korra and Ms Marvel now unmasked were wrapped in warm thermal blankets. Hulk watched over Kamala with concern as Naga brushed against his face.
"Good girl Naga, you did good." He stroked her head in gratitude, to which she returned with a lick on his face.
Mako sat close to Korra's bedside. "I was so worried. Are you all right?" He asked.
"I'm fine. I'm glad you're here."Korra said in comfort as Mako stroked her hair back.
"Its okay your both safe now." Mako said to her which gave her some comfort. She looked to Kamala who lay asleep in the blankets.
"Don't worry, she's going to be okay." Iron Man assured her. "Thanks to you."
"Aye you saved her life tonight young Avatar." Thor said in gratitude.
Korra just gave a warm smile at that as she fell asleep. "We saved each other." She breathed as she held onto Kamala's hand on her blanket.
With that the Quin Jet zoomed back to Air Temple Island as dawn was beginning to break. However watching from the Avatar Aang memorial statue was the god of mishchief who could only smirk.
