Officer Useless
When Jess woke up the next morning she found herself alone on the couch and alone in the breakroom. Getting up she stretched stiffly and popped a pain pill. Seeing her TENS machine on the sidetable Jess pulled up her shirt and saw the pads still stuck to her skin. Wondering who had remembered to unhook the machine Jess headed for the backrooms of the clinic to start looking after the animals. Finding all the cat cages already cleaned and the cats fed Jess headed towards the dog room hearing a lot of barking and growling coming from the room. Walking through the door Jess saw Isaac sitting on the floor face to face with Anne. Anne was snarling and growling her face inches away from Isaac's. Shocked Jess reacted instantly shouting loudly. "Anne! Be nice to your new brother!" As she rushed over and placed her hand protectively on Isaac's shoulder.
Isaac blushed and ducked his head before pressing it against Jess's leg. "Please don't be mad at Anne. She's teaching me how to understand and speak dog." Isaac pleaded softly.
Jess heard a chuckle and turned to see Derek sitting on a chair surrounded by a pack of dogs.
"Settle down dear. I'm supervising the children." Derek joked lightly watching Isaac's blush deepen. "Careful kids you're scaring your mom." Derek joked smirking at Jess.
Petting Isaac's hair with one hand and petting Anne with the other Jess smirked right back at Derek and cooed down at the pair. "Your Daddy thinks that he's funny. It's part of what makes him so cute." Jess cooed softly. Glancing down the row of cages and seeing they were already clean Jess turned to Derek. "Is there anything left that still needs to be done this morning?" Jess asked, her hand still absentmindedly petting Isaac's head where it was still resting against her thigh.
Standing up Derek made a noise to the dogs and watched as they all filed into their own cages. "Nope, everything is done." Derek replied as he began to walk down the row of cages closing all the doors. When he reached the cage beside Jess and Isaac he wrapped his arms around Jess and lowering his head Derek nuzzled his face against Jess's neck. "You can get ready, have some breakfast, and then relax until it's time to bring Isaac to school for his lacrosse practice." Derek said. Sniffing her neck as he nuzzled Derek slowly began placing soft open mouth kisses along her neck and jaw.
Leaning into Derek as he kissed his way along her neck and jaw Jess staggered slightly when Isaac suddenly jumped to his feet and moved away from the pair blushing furiously. "Oops, forgot you were down there a minute Isaac. Sorry lamb." Jess apologized with a giggle as Derek took advantage of the fact she no longer had to stay in one place and slowly pulled her over to the nearest solid wall and pinned her against it still kissing and nuzzling into her neck.
"There are a bunch of breakfast burritos and savory breakfast muffins in the freezer in the breakroom." Jess told the boy. "There are also yogurts and juice in the fridge." Jess said putting her hand on Derek's chest and pushing him back away from her for a minute to try and talk to Issac. "Or if there is something else that you normally eat for breakfast instead that you would prefer to have then we can send this lug into town to grab it." Jess offered as Derek ducked to one side to get around her restraining hand and started kissing and nipping at her throat again. "Sorry about Romeo here. I think he has spent too much time forced to watch Allison and Scott making out while protecting them from things and it has led to him thinking that making out is all modern couples do." Jess joked trying and failing to duck away from Derek.
Growling softly at Jess's joke Derek licked a long line from the base of her throat all the way up her jaw and ended by biting gently at her earlobe. "Oh I know that making out isn't ALL couples do." Derek breathed huskily into Jess's ear. "But for the next year you and I can't do anything more then that without risking me getting arrested." Derek whispered reaching down and hugging Jess tightly against his chest.
"I'm sure I will find something to eat from what you have available." Still blushing furiously Isaac ducked his head and left the room to go to the breakroom and grab some breakfast.
Laughing softly at the quickly retreating boy Jess lightly swatted Derek's arm. "You're going to scar that poor boy for life if you keep up that kind of behavior." Jess scolded a little confused by the overly affectionate greeting from the normally reserved man.
Completely ignoring Jess's scolding Derek started to rub his hands along her side and lower back before reaching down and squeezing her ass as he continued to kiss along her neck and jawline and finally kissed her full on the lips. Grinding softly against Jess's hip Derek went back to kissing and licking her neck moaning softly against her when Jess gave in and started kissing Derek's neck in return.
When Derek turned her so that Jess had her back to his chest and started to suck hard at her neck while clinging to her hips and grinding softly against her Jess gave in to her own arousal and moaning softly she started to nip gently at Derek's earlobe. Reaching up to tangle her fingers in his hair and tugging it gently caused Derek to give a soft keening moan and start to grind against her hard!
Suddenly the door to the dog room opened and Dr. Deaton stepped into the room and froze at the sight of the couple.
Turning his face away from Jess's neck Derek let loose a snarl that had every dog in the room cowering as far back away from the pair as they could get. "Get. Out!" Derek snarled still slowly grinding against Jess his voice ragged.
"Calm yourself Derek." The vet said. Not even flinching when Derek's growl rose a notch in volume. "Remember where you are a moment and think about what you are doing. Don't loose yourself in the pull of the moon and do something you will regret later." The vet cautioned softly.
Groaning loudly Derek turned and ground hard against Jess one last time before he turned and wrenched himself away from her and rushed out of the room through the door the vet had just entered through, leaving Jess standing dazzled and panting heavily near the wall.
As soon as Derek had left the room Dr. Deaton walked over to the dazed young woman and taking a gentle hold of her arm he walked her out the door into the exercise yard to get some fresh air. "I apologize for the interruption but I realized that in our discussions about werewolves and their behaviors I hadn't ever spoken to you about the sometimes overpowering lust that they feel when under the influence of a full moon and around their chosen mate. Once I remembered that it seemed prudent to check on the two of you and make sure to tell you about the phenomenon before things could get too out of hand." The vet said softly watching as the girl slowly calmed her breathing and started to straighten her clothing.
Clearing her throat awkwardly Jess gave the vet a rueful smile. "Yep, might have been a good idea to have mentioned that before we scarred poor Isaac for life." Jess joked blushing lightly. "Does that mean I'm going to have to avoid Derek all day and night or risk being ravished?" Jess asked sadly.
Smiling the vet shook his head. "Avoiding him is the last thing you should do." The vet cautioned. "That would lead to him becoming quite irritated and risk him feeling the need to force himself on you when he does finally manage to corner you." Deaton warned. "The wisest course of action is to allow him to lavish his affections on you but not to return them. Allow him to hold and kiss you but instead of returning the kisses try and distract him with requests and questions. Cuddling and petting is fine to do in return just avoid things like kissing, licking, and nipping. Especially nipping. Derek shouldn't force himself on you physically if you allow him to shower you with affections and you just keep a firm hold on your own responses to his advances." The vet explained to Jess's relief. "Having Isaac around will also help to distract him from his lust as his instincts prompt him to protect and guide the newest member of his pack." Deaton said with a smile. "You sending Isaac away and kissing Derek likely made Derek subconsciously think that you were signaling your readiness to him." Deaton explained to the young woman. Seeing that Jess had calmed herself the vet gestured towards the building. "You should get yourself ready for school and have some breakfast. I believe young Isaac mentioned a morning lacrosse practice he needs to be getting to soon." Deaton said opening the door and holding it for Jess to proceed him into the building.
Entering the breakroom Jess found Isaac eating a burrito at the table and Derek dressed only in a towel his hair soaking wet and his body glistening as he dug through his bag to pull out fresh clothes. "Hhhhnnngh." Jess moaned softly pulse quickening at the sight.
Hearing the noise Derek's head snapped up and his eyes flashed red for a moment. Clutching the towel with one hand and the clothes with his other he swallowed several times before finally managing to speak. "Shower." He said slowly licking his lips and staring at Jess. "I took one." Another swallow. "A COLD one." Derek said slowly looking Jess up and down before swallowing again. "Might need another one." Derek muttered to himself tearing his eyes away from Jess.
Smiling and licking her own lips Jess murmered. "Yeah, I still need to take my own morning shower as well." Walking to the fridge Jess pulled out a yogurt and a juice and turned to ask Derek what he wanted only to see him disappearing out the door.
"I need another shower." Derek muttered quietly as he ducked out the door clutching his clothes and his towel.
Left behind in the breakroom Jess and Isaac managed to hold back their laughter until Deaton entered the room and asked if Derek was still showering. Instantly both teens started snorting and giggling.
"He was done his cold shower until Jess walked in and mentioned that SHE needed a shower still this morning. Then Derek had to go take ANOTHER cold shower." Isaac said snickering quietly.
Entering the room fully dressed a few minutes later Derek found the two teens still giggling occasionally. "Yeah, yeah Isaac laugh it up. We will see what you do your first full moon with a new girlfriend." Derek warned the teen while Jess hurried out of the room with her things to go take a shower herself.
When Jess returned from showering and getting dressed Derek caught her gently around the waist and pulled her close in a hug. Pressing a single soft kiss to her throat Derek apologized quietly. "I'm sorry if I scared you. I should have been more careful about staying in control." Derek said head hanging down and avoiding eye contact his entire body tense.
Chuckling Jess reached up and placing her hand on his cheek she forced him to lift his chin and make eye contact. "Scared, was most definitely NOT the emotion that I was feeling during that makeout session." Jess assured the contrite werewolf stroking his cheek with her thumb. "I do agree that we BOTH need to be a bit more careful today and tonight about our PDA's though." Sliding her hand up into Derek's hair Jess guided his head down to her shoulder and crooned softly to him. "It's alright love. I enjoyed myself just as much as you did earlier. I'm not upset about it. It's alright." Running her fingernails across Derek's scalp Jess felt Derek's tense muscles slowly relax as he melted against her, nuzzling softly at her neck and breathing in her scent deeply while she scratched softly at his scalp. Checking the time Jess cursed pulling her hand out of Derek's hair causing him to whine softly. "I'm sorry baby but I still need to get my hair brushed and do something with it and then Isaac and I need to get moving to school." Jess said pulling away from Derek, flinching at the soft whine he gave when she did. "Isaac do you have your school things or do we need to go to your house before school for you to get them?" Jess asked the teen as she dug a brush and a scarf out of her bag.
"I've got everything I need." The teen said with with small smile. "Derek took me to grab a bunch of my stuff this morning before you woke up." Isaac explained pointing to a couple of bags in one of the corners of the room.
Looking over and seeing the bags Jess relaxed slightly and smiled at Derek's forethought. Seeing that Derek was still standing where she had left him looking slightly dejected Jess offered him the hairbrush. "Could you help me get all the knots out of my hair this morning?" Jess asked softly smiling at the way Derek's eyes lit up at the request.
"Of course!" Derek replied brightly, taking the brush and gesturing her to sit down at a chair at the table. Once Jess was seated Derek quickly and efficiently worked the brush through all of her thick curls gently teasing out the knots before he used his hands to gently scrunch her hair and tease it into ringlets curls. Taking the scarf from Jess's hands Derek wrapped it around her hair for her. Glancing at the clock Derek sighed. "You two should get going or Isaac will be late for practice." Derek said helping Jess to stand up before he grabbed her bag and checked to be sure she had everything she needed for the day. Putting the bag over his shoulder Derek herded the two teens out to the Tardis. Picking Jess up easily Derek set her on the seat and leaning in pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. "I'll be working at the garage near the school all morning, then I'll start the paperwork to become a foster parent while I hang out in the general area for the rest of the day. That way I am close if there is any trouble." Derek said leaning around Jess and speaking to Isaac. "If you have any trouble let Jess know and she can call me if you aren't able to. Remember our cover story. You got spooked and ran and called me right away. I was in the area and picked you up and took you straight to the clinic. You were there most of the evening and all night. If they ask for an alibi have them call Dr. Deaton. He will be your best alibi. Stay calm today and listen to Jess. She is the best of us at thinking up plans and cover stories." Derek told the boy gently. "Try to avoid Scott as much as possible. Both of you will be feeling off today and the last thing we need is a werewolf fight in the middle of a crowded school." Derek ordered. "Let Danny carry Jess's bag some of the time today. You'll be feeling territorial so just remind yourself that Danny is basically pack." Derek told Isaac.
Sitting in the passenger seat Isaac nodded along to all the instructions looking surprised at the last one. "Danny is pack? Does he know about werewolves?" Isaac asked curiously.
Derek frowned. "I have no idea if he knows about werewolves or not. But he is still pack. He is Jess's Knight. That makes him pack. So share the bag carrying with him and don't try to keep him away from Jess." Derek ordered the young werewolf.
Jess scoffed. "As if I would let him." Leaning over Jess kissed Derek and gestured for him to back away from the truck. "I love kissing you but we have to go Daddy. I need to stop and get a tea and a fritter if I am going to sit and watch a lacrosse practice." Jess said starting the truck.
As soon as Derek had closed her door she pulled slowly out of the parking lot and headed for the coffee shop. "What's your poison lambkins?" Jess asked Isaac as they got to the coffee shop. "Pick a drink and a pastry of some sort." Jess ordered pointing at the extensive menu for him to choose from. "My treat."
Starting at the huge menu board Isaac looked at Jess and ducked his head low. "I have no idea. There's too many choices. I don't need to get anything." Isaac mumbled curling in on himself.
Jess smiled sadly at the teen. "It's OK sweetie. We have time to look at the menu a minute." Jess told the teen putting the truck in park and pointing to the empty space in the drive-through lane behind them. "We can start with the drinks. Do you even like coffee? Or would you prefer a hot chocolate? Or the best of both worlds, a cafemocha?" Jess suggested to the teen.
"A cafemocha would be nice." Isaac mumbled staring down at his hands.
"There see how easy it is? We already decided on your drink." Jess said smiling at the boy. "Now what kind of pastry do you want savory or sweet?" Jess asked Isaac.
Glancing up at the menu Isaac bit his lip. "What are you getting?" Isaac asked suddenly his eyes lighting up.
"I'm getting an apple fritter." Jess told the teen.
"Can I get one of those?" Isaac asked ducking his head and peering up at Jess through his curls.
"Of course you can sweetheart." Jess cooed. Those blasted curls of his hanging infront of his eyes would be her ruin. She just knew it. She was going to spoil this kid absolutely rotten. Putting the truck back into drive Jess pulled forwards to order their drinks and treats, ordering a box of six apple fritters instead of just two of them. Pulling forwards Jess paid for and received their drinks and treats. Handing Isaac his Cafemocha and setting her tea in the cup holder Jess opened the box of pastries and set in between them. "I want one for myself and one for a friend of mine. You can have the rest if you want them." Jess offered.
Staring at the four fritters and clutching his cup Isaac looked at Jess in awe. "I couldn't eat four!" He exclaimed. Ducking his head he picked one up and took a small bite, then took a large bite. A few big bites later the treat was gone and Isaac was licking the sugar off his fingers and blushing as he glanced at the box of pastries. "I could maybe eat two..." He admitted shyly, but made no move to take another fritter.
"Go ahead and have another one lambkin." Jess encouraged nudging the box closer to the boy. "You're a growing puppy. You need to eat more to grow into a big strong werewolf." Jess joked lightly seeing the boy still blushing. "Go ahead sweetie." Jess coaxed smiling when the blushing boy took another treat and squashing the urge she had to praise him for taking it. Mustn't baby the baby too much or he might feel embarrassed about it. Jess reminded herself.
Getting to the school Jess grabbed her drink and the box of pastries and let Isaac take her bag. "I'll be in the bleachers working on the fundraiser and studying if you need me." Jess told the boy. Pulling out her phone she opened the messenger app and hit new text and handed it to Isaac. "Send yourself a text so I have your number and can save it to my contacts and so you have mine." Jess ordered. When the boy nodded and sent a text Jess took the phone back and looked to see what he had sent.
My Queen's number.
"Aww, such a good Squire." Jess cooed. "Now go get ready. You don't want to be late for practice." Jess said shooing the boy off to go get changed. Walking over to the bleachers Jess found the Coach and several players already on the field. Walking over to the Coach Jess wordlessly offered him the box of fritters making him jump and turn to look at her in confusion.
"Are you stalking me or something?" The Coach asked warily taking a random fritter from the center of the box and making Jess snort.
"No Coach, I am not stalking you." Jess said with a soft laugh. "I gave Isaac a ride to practice this morning." Jess explained grabbing a fritter herself and sitting in the bleachers near the Coach.
Staring at Jess in confusion the Coach turned and glanced around at the players on the field. "Who?" The Coach asked clearly confused. "I thought you lived with McCall and were friends with Danny. Who the hell is Isaac?" The Coach asked loudly.
Jogging up behind the Coach Danny reached past him and snagged a fritter from the box startling the Coach. "Isaac Lahey Coach." Danny said pointing to where Isaac was jogging onto the field pulling on the last of his gear and carrying Jess's bag.
Looking blankly at the boy with zero recognition on his face the Coach asked quietly. "Is he any good?"
"Of course he is!" Jess said angrily annoyed that the Coach hadn't known who the boy was but unable to complain about it since she hadn't known his herself a few days ago. Smiling quickly as Isaac came jogging over and handed her the bag Jess pulled him into a quick hug before he ran off to start doing laps.
Glancing from the boy, to the girl, to Danny the Coach stared at Danny and raised one eye brow questioningly. "He's midrange but improving steadily." Danny said giving the Coach his honest opinion of the boy once he had made it across the field.
Nodding the Coach smiled. "Improving steadily! That's what I like to hear." He cheered happily moving off to tell the last few players to make it to the field how many laps he wanted them to do.
Sitting down beside Jess Danny glanced from Isaac to Jess. "Why'd you end up giving Isaac a ride to practice today? He doesn't like anywhere near the McCall's. He lives closer to me, right by Jackson. If I had known he needed a ride I could have gotten him." Danny offered softly.
Sighing Jess leaned closer to Danny. "Isaac wasn't at his house this morning for you to pick up. He ran away from home last night. Called us for help and Derek picked him up and brought him to the clinic. We spent most of the night getting him calmed down and trying to convince him to go to the police about his asshole of a dad. This morning Derek took him to pick up some of his things and bring them back to the clinic crazy early in the morning. We aren't letting him go back there. He can stay at the clinic until we convince him to report his dad to the police. In the meantime Derek is applying to be approved as a foster care provider. Hopefully with the Sheriff's help it can be rushed through so that he can take in Isaac once we convince him to report the abuse." Jess told Danny quietly.
Danny whistled softly. "Damn, you guys never have a quiet night do you. First Lydia shows back up and doesn't remember ANYTHING, and now this shit with Isaac. You guys can't catch a break." Danny murmered shaking his head.
"Wait! What? They found Lydia?" Jess asked grabbing Danny arm in shock. Pulling out her phone Jess glance through her texts but saw nothing new. "What the hell! Why didn't anyone tell me?" Jess asked angrily.
Sitting beside her Danny laughed lightly. "Not so fun when you're the one not being told things is it?" He teased gently. "Honestly though I thought you knew. Otherwise I would have told you." Dany apologized.
"It's fine Danny. I wish someone would have told me so I could bring her a present or something. But things are strained in the wider group right now so I'm not surprised they forgot to tell me. I didn't tell them about Isaac at all yet either." Jess said sadly. "Wonder what the hell that's about?" Jess said when she saw Scott and Stiles having a whispered conversation on the bench.
"Maybe Stiles is finally admitting to being Bi and is professing his undying love for Scott." Danny said eyeing the pair on the bench.
Jess just looked at Danny in shock for a moment.
"Seriously? You don't see it? With the amount of times Stiles has asked me if I find him attractive? There is some sort of thing going on with that guy." Danny said seriously.
Watching Stiles run over and talk with the Coach for a minute before running back to Scott with the goalie's stick Jess laughed at Scott's disgruntled response. Jess laughed even harder when Stiles exclaimed loudly. "This IS the plan!" And Scott suddenly got a look of dawning comprehension on his face.
The Coach called for practice to start and Jess watched as Scott rushed out of the goal and tackled the player approaching the goal. Then Scott sniffed him. Obviously and excessively.
Watching from the bleachers Jess stared at Scott in confusion as he ran out of the ģoal and sniffed the next player as well. "What the fuck?"
Watching as the Coach berated him to stay in the goal and Scott ignored it to continue sniffing players Jess groaned. It was official Scott was an idiot. Pulling out her phone Jess took a video of Scott tackling and sniffing Danny then complimenting the Armani aftershave he wore. Sending the video to Derek Jess added a text.
Are we absolutely sure we want THIS level of stupidity in our pack? My guess is he noticed the smell of Isaac but couldn't pick him out of the group. Instead of volunteering to play as DEFENSE to get a chance to get close to each player as they charge the goal, the idiot let Stiles make the plan and got put in goal. Coach is pissed and the defensemen are super confused and I think Scott was a bit scared at the end when Danny starts talking about aftershave. -Jess
Jess got a text back almost instantly.
Be ready to step in and calm them down if they start wrestling. Just stay well back and shout at the idiots. Don't try to physically interfere! -Derek
Yes dear. -Jess
Looking up Jess watched as Isaac and Scott collided growling before separating and crouching on the field glaring at one another before both turned and looked off the field before looking at each other again. Following their line of sight Jess saw Sheriff Stilinski and some deputies approaching the field and speaking with the Coach. A few minutes later the Coach had called Isaac over and was standing with him as the Sheriff spoke to him. Suddenly Isaac paled and started shaking his head and looking panicked. Jess got up to go to him but was stopped by Scott and Stiles stepping into her way.
"Did you know?" Stiles asked Jess.
Ignoring the question Jess tried to step around the pair to go to Isaac.
Sidestepping to block her Scott was snarling slightly as he demanded harshly. "Did you KNOW?" Grabbing her arm and shaking her lightly.
Suddenly Danny was there shoving between the two and pushing Scott away with one hand as he steadied Jess with the other. "Back the hell off McCall!" Danny snapped as Scott stumbled back a step in surprise and Stiles quickly grabbed him and held him back whispering frantically into his ear as he did.
"What I did and didn't know isn't any of your concern Scott McCall." Jess growled back. "Now stay out of my way." Jess demanded ducking around him and hurrying towards Isaac. When she got close Jess could see Isaac looking like he was fighting not to cry or flee. The Coach and the Sheriff were both trying to be comforting to the boy but he was curling in on himself, mumbling, and avoiding eye contact. "Isaac, sweetie, what's going on?" Jess asked walking up to the group like she belonged there. The Deputies just froze unsure how to react.
Sheriff Stilinski turned to Jess and smiled clearly glad to see her. "Miss Black! How are you doing honey? I feel like I haven't seen you in ages."
Standing in the middle of the group with his head down and shoulders curled in Isaac turned to look up at Jess through his curls. "They just told me...my dad...they said...they found...he's DEAD!...he's gone." Isaac said fists clenched. His voice choked and breaking as he spoke the last words his entire body visibly shaking.
Ignoring the Sheriff Jess walked through the group straight to Isaac and pulled the trembling teen into her arms. "Oh sweetheart." Jess cooed as the teen buried his face against her neck and clung to her desperately. "Shhh, shhh, it's over. That monster can't hurt you anymore." Jess crooned stroking her fingers through the boy's hair.
The men standing around the pair all paled as they comprehended the girls words. Stepping forwards the Coach laid a hand on Isaac's back wincing when the boy flinched and clung tighter to Jess. "Why don't we go somewhere that we can all sit down and discuss things calmly?" The Coach suggested to Sheriff Stilinski.
"I think that is a fine idea Coach." The Sheriff said smiling gently at the boy. "Is there an empty office or a classroom that we could use?" The Sheriff asked.
"You can use my office if you like." The Coach offered. "It's big enough for you, me, Miss Black, and Isaac to all sit down in." The Coach offered.
Frowning Sheriff Stilinski looked at the Coach. "Well, I'm not sure that Miss Black has any real buisness being in this meeting." He said uncertainly. "No offense meant honey but you should probably just grab your stuff and head to class." The Sheriff said gesturing towards the bleachers and Jess's bag.
Feeling Isaac's grip tighten and hearing the boy whimper softly Jess scoffed. "Yeah, that is not going to happen. You just told this boy that his only living relative is dead. Doesn't matter how much of a monster the man was he was still Isaac's last blood relation. I am not going anywhere." Jess said tightening her hold on Isaac with one arm and threading the fingers of her other hand through his hair soothingly. "I've got you baby." Jess cooed softly.
The Sheriff sighed. "I'm sorry honey but this isn't just us sitting with Isaac until Social Services sends someone for him. If it was then you would be welcome to stay." The Sheriff said hesitantly. "But there was signs of a struggle at the house and no one saw any other vehicles or people entering the house all evening. Which means that Isaac is currently our only suspect." The Sheriff said quietly.
Jess scowled darkly at the Sheriff. "Are you seriously suggesting that this poor little lamb here hurt his father? The man he fears above all else in this world!" Jess snarled at the man. "Don't be an idiot!" Jess shouted causing Isaac to flinch in her arms. "You're right! There was a struggle! That bastard attacked Isaac, again!" Jess growled softly carding her fingers through Isaac's hair soothingly. "But this time he knew he had somewhere to go to be safe!" Jess said triumphantly. "We met Isaac the other night while looking for Lydia and it took us all of 10 minutes to realize someone was beating the hell out of him! We tried to get him to go to the police but he was too afraid of being chucked into foster care with a bunch of strangers when his reporting the abuse got his dad arrested. So instead Derek promised to watch out for him and to come help him if he ever called." Jess said cuddling Isaac close. "So when that bastard attacked him this time! Isaac ran for it and called Derek! Derek was hanging out in the area incase Isaac needed his help and picked him up just a few minutes after Isaac left the house. They left his bike in an alley and Derek brought him to me at the clinic." Jess ranted angrily at the Sheriff. "Derek, Dr. Deaton, and I spent all night trying to convince Isaac that he could report everything to YOU and finally be safe from that monster. Then when I almost have him convinced to let me call you, you swoop in and accuse him of murder! What the hell is wrong with you?" Jess snarled at the Sheriff while hugging Isaac as he buried his face against her neck.
Sheriff Stilinski stared at the pair for a long moment. "So you're telling me that Dr. Deaton will vouch for this young man being with him in the clinic for the entire evening?" The Sheriff asked hopefully.
Smiling Jess pulled her phone out of her pocket and sent a text to both Derek, and Deaton.
Can you send me the picture of Isaac and me on the couch? Sheriff is here asking about his alibi. -Jess
"I thought I overheard Deaton talking about letting the police know that he had a run away kid safe at the clinic." Jess said a little perplexed.
One of the two deputies suddenly paled. "Wait! That call was about THIS kid?" The deputy asked frantically. Beside him the other deputy gave him a look of absolute disgust and the Sheriff looked ready to murder the young officer.
"Are you telling me that you got told last NIGHT already about this kid's alibi! Then you FORGOT to pass that news on properly! In such a way that YOU have CAUSED this poor boy to be suspected of MURDER!" The Sheriff bellowed slowly advancing on the deputy.
In Jess's arm Isaac whimpered and clung tighter to Jess hearing the loud yelling. "Sheriff!" Jess barked. "Keep. It. Down!" Jess hissed while carding her fingers through Isaac's hair. "Poor baby has been subjected to MORE then enough angry yelling for one lifetime." Jess cooed glaring angrily at the group of officers.
Deflating the Sheriff sighed. "I'm sorry son. This whole thing has been a mess right from the start." The Sheriff said with regret. "I'm afraid we are going to have to take you into the station until we get everything sorted out. We are still waiting on an official time of death. I'll get a hold of Derek and Dr. Deaton to confirm your alibi with them while we wait to hear from the Medical Examiner. Then we will have to hand you over to social services when they finally show up. The ones in this town are notoriously over worked and tend to take ages to actually get where they are needed." The Sheriff said apologetically.
"Can't he just sit in an office here while you try to get things figured out?" Jess pleaded. "At least until the end of the school day?" Jess begged the Sheriff. "He shouldn't be punished for someone else making a mistake." Jess said glaring at the deputy.
"Well I suppose if we can arrange for some officers to sit with him throughout the day to keep an eye on him we might be able to do something like that." Sheriff Stilinski said uncertainly.
A lot of phone calls and waiting around later Jess was in the nurses office with a still very shaken up Isaac trying to convince him that everything was going to be fine. A young officer was waiting by the door smiling sadly at the young boy who was refusing to loosen his hold on Jess's sweater. When Jess finally convinced Isaac to let go and sit on the cot he looked so lost and frightened that Jess could barely handle it. Yanking off her hair scarf Jess tied it loosely around Isaac's throat, watching as he immediately tugged it up to cover his mouth and nose and breathed through it. "There you go baby." Jess cooed softly. "Now you just keep that close until everything gets sorted out and you'll be fine." Jess said stroking the boys hair and putting a soft kiss on his forehead. "I'm going to text Derek and we are going to get everything sorted out. Just you wait and see." Jess promised turning and leaving the boy in the nurses office. Exiting the nurses office Jess ducked into the nearest bathroom and pulled out her phone.
Idiot deputy didn't file the report about Deaton calling about a run away kid spending the night in the clinic. So now they need to wait for the Medical Examiner to determine a time of death and to confirm the alibi with you and Deaton. Until then Police are watching him here at the school until school is over, then they will take him to the station until Social Services finally shows up to take him. -Jess
Left the garage when you texted me earlier. At the office for Social Services! Trying to get the paperwork rushed to make me an emergency placement for Isaac. -Derek
Hearing a bell Jess jumped and looked at the time and made a face. She had missed her entire first and second period. Marching towards the cafeteria Jess saw her entire group of friends gathered by her locker. Walking over Jess walked straight into Danny and buried her face in his chest groaning loudly for a long minute. Spinning suddenly Jess smiled hugely at Lydia. "Lydia darling you look wonderful! I'm SO happy you are back safe! I am in desperate need of a girlfriend." Jess said stepping forwards and pulling the girl into a tight hug.
Smiling widely at Jess Lydia hugged her back. "I lost 9 pounds!" She crowed happily, gesturing up an down her body. "And while I know that Allison isn't quite as amazing as me I am sure she could have helped you out with any girl only problems you were having." Lydia said glancing back and forth between the two girls.
Turning her head sharply and managing to flip her hair back in the same motion Jess lifted her chin and stared down her nose at Allison. Which was hard to do since Allison was quite a bit taller than the tiny girl. "I am not currently SPEAKING to Miss Argent." Jess said her voice so cold it could cause frostbite.
Hearing it Lydia frowned. "I know her Aunt hurt Derek but you can't blame Allison for her Aunt's actions. You never blamed her for the crap her parents did to you. How is this any different?" Lydia asked sounding confused and looking at Allison.
Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath Jess opened them and glared at Allison for a moment daring her to say something. "I do NOT blame Allison for what her AUNT did!" Jess snapped. "She knows exactly what she did to make me not speak to her." Turning to Danny Jess leaned against him again. "Can we go sit down somewhere? This morning has been awful." Jess said groaning softly.
Putting his arm around Jess Danny led her to the cafeteria and made a point of going to sit with her at the Drama Club table.
Left behind at the locker Lydia looked around the remaining group baffled. "What the heck I'm gone a few days and the group implodes? What in the world happened?" Lydua asked looking back and forth between Allison and Scott both of whom looked very guilty. When neither answered she turned her gaze on Stiles. "What...Happened?" Lydia asked moving towards him as she asked and getting up in his face.
Looking around in a panic Stiles saw his dad down the hall. "Hey, look! My dad's here. I should go talk to him. Nice having you back Lydia. Bye." Stiles stammered rushing away from the curious girl.
"I did something really stupid." Allison admitted. "That I deeply regret. But Jess is so mad at me she won't let me talk to her long enough to apologize for it." Allison said sadly.
Beside Allison Scott sighed. "You broke her trust. Badly. It's going to take a while for you to gain it back. But you should be able to do it eventually. She could be avoiding us a lot more fully if she really hated us. She is mad and she is avoiding us so that she doesn't say anything hurtful while she is mad. You saw how she let Danny cover her mouth and drag her away yesterday. She didn't even try and stay. She didn't want to say something that would hurt you even when she was rightfully angry about what you said." Scott said to Allison.
Lydia frowned. "So she is rightfully angry? So should I be siding with her?" Lydia asked uncertainly. "I don't really want to sit at the Drama Club table though." Lydia said with a frown. "Just how bad was this thing you did. Like on a scale of 1 through 10? 1 being like stealing an accessory and 10 being like stealing Derek." Lydia asked Allison.
Allison and Scott both paled and winced and Scott gave Lydia a forced smile. "Let me put it this way. You're likely going to end up sitting at the Drama Club table forever if Allison answers that."
Turning to Allison in disbelief Lydia raised an eyebrow and waited for an actual answer.
Sighing and staring at her feet Allison mumbled. "Um...it would be kinda like a 10."
"What?" Lydia shrieked. "Now you HAVE to tell me!" Lydia demanded.
Scott sighed wrapping his arm around Allison. "Please Lydia can you just let it go for now?" Scott begged.
"Fine." Lydia groaned turning and trudging towards the cafeteria and the Drama Club table. "But we WILL be discussing this later on." Lydia called back to them as she disappeared into the cafeteria.
In chemistry class Stiles and Scott had a fiercely whispered discussion turning and asking Danny something as well before they suddenly committed academic suicide and threw a ball of paper at the teachers head. The pair got sent to the principal and class continued without them.
When class let out Jess tried to check in on Isaac but the new officer staying with him hadn't been told anything about anyone being allowed to visit the boy and refused to call the Sheriff to ask.
Isaac sitting on the cot looking sulky told Jess not to bother fighting it and to just go to class. Offering her a weak smile he hooked his thumb in her scarf and told her he would be fine until they could get everything sorted out.
Furious Jess stomped off to try and find the Sheriff but he was using the principals office and the witchy secretary refused to let Jess see him and warned she would get a detention if she didn't go to class immediately. When the new principle immediately sided with the secretary Jess practically blew smoke she was so mad. "Who are you even?" Jess demanded angrily. "Just so I know who all to file a complaint about to the Sheriff later." Jess explained glaring at them both.
Smiling the older man held out his hand. As Jess took his hand to shake it he said. "I'm Principle Argent." Ripping her hand out of his like his touch had burned Jess backed up across the office until her back hit the door just as the Sheriff came out of the inner office with Jackson.
"You ok honey?" The Sheriff called in concern when he saw Jess stumbling away from the new Principle.
Raising her hand to point at the older man Jess hissed angrily. "He's an ARGENT!" Opening the door without looking at it Jess backed out of the office and took of down the hallway.
"What a peculiar young girl. And a very peculiar reaction to my name " The principle said softly staring after her.
"She's a troublesome thing." Snarked the secretary. "Does nothing but make more work for everyone."
Frowning at the secretary the Sheriff disagreed loudly. "I don't think that a fair assessment at all. That girl's been through hell at the hands of the Argents living in this town but she still is nothing but polite to their daughter and to them when she is forced to interact with them. Decided on a restraining order instead of pressing charges and has been very flexible about it. If she had a mind to she could probably argue about the legality of you even taking this job. The restraining order covers any and all past and present employees of Argent Arms." The Sheriff said with a frown at the man. "I don't think it is at all odd that she was upset to find out you were an Argent." Turning the Sheriff stomped out of the office stopping to glare when he found Scott and Stiles seated outside the office.
When school was finally over for the day Jess ran to the nurses office and was furious to find it empty. Charging out of the school Jess came to a stop beside Scott and was just in time to see a police car pull away with Isaac sitting in the backseat. "Fuck!" Jess swore loudly making Scott jump. Fumbling to pull out her phone Jess almost dropped it when Derek pulled up in his car and ordered Scott to get in. "Go. Get. My. Squire!" Jess snarled to Derek before she turned and stomped towards the Tardis. "I'll be at work if you need me for something." Jess called back to Derek as she headed for the truck hearing Derek and Scott arguing behind her.
Getting to the Animal Clinic Jess realized she hadn't texted Melissa her plans all day. Sighing she pulled out her phone and sent a text to the woman
Just got to work. Sorry I forgot to text you my whereabouts this morning. Today has been INSANE. There are bags in the freezer labeled as dump meals that have instruction on how to heat/cook them that you can do for supper. I am going to be trying to help get my friend's shit sorted out. I will let you know if I need to be out past curfew. -Jess
Almost immediately Jess got a text back.
Thanks for letting me know. And thanks for the freezer meals. They make my life a lot easier. Let me know when to expect you if you realize that you can't make curfew. Hope your friend is alright. -Melissa
Jess had finished everything that needed doing at the clinic and was puttering around stiffly when her phone started to ring with a incoming call from Stiles. Jess hesitated a minute before answering and was confused when instead of Stiles she heard Derek's voice coming from the phone.
"I'm on my way with Stiles to pick you up! There is a fake deputy on his way to the station to kill Isaac. Allison is planning to try to slow him down so we can smuggle Isaac out before he can get there. I left my car for Scott. Allison planning to lock him up before the moon comes up fully to keep him from going on a rampage. We need your help to keep Isaac calm once we get him. Be ready at the door." Derek snarled out his message in a rush. "I'm using my phone to text with Allison to be sure Scott is secured right now. Sorry for any confusion. See you in a minute." Derek mumbled before the phone was hung up.
Grabbing another scarf Jess wrapped it around her neck and rubbed it all over her neck while she waited for the boys to get to the clinic. When they pulled up Jess sprinted out and scrambled over Derek's lap to sit in between Derek and Stiles in the front of the Jeep.
When they got to the station Stiles explained where the keys were hidden but worried about getting past the officer at the front door.
"It's fine I'll distract her." Derek said calmly.
"How? You going to punch her in the face?" Stiles asked sarcastically.
"I'm thinking of punch YOU in the face?" Derek growled back.
"BOYS! Behave! We don't have time for this. Derek go flirt with the lady cop while me and Stiles go get Isaac out." Jess ordered shooing Derek out of the Jeep.
As Stiles and Jess hurried through the station after slipping past the distracted officer at the front Stiles turned to Jess. "Did you just tell your boyfriend to go flirt with someone?" Stiles asked Jess.
Rolling her eyes Jess replied dryly. "No, I didn't tell my boyfriend to go flirt with someone. I ORDERED my FIANCE to go and flirt with someone." Jess quipped rounding a corner behind Stiles and watching him get grabbed by a guy in a deputy's uniform holding a syringe. "Fuck!" Jess snapped pulling out a can of pepper spray and opening her mouth to scream for help. A hard kick to the stomach knocked the wind out of her and she watched gasping breathlessly as the fake deputy dragged Stiles backwards towards the detention room moving even faster when Stiles manged to pull a fire alarm.
Moving painfully Jess leaned against the wall still fighting to get a proper breath while she staggered towards the detention room. Entering the room and seeing Isaac standing over the fallen fake deputy and the full syringe on the ground, Jess sagged to the floor in relief beside a knocked down Stiles. "Thank God." Jess wheezed in relief.
On the other side of the room Isaac turned snarling and stared at the two figures on the floor. Advancing slowly and still snarling Isaac was stopped by Derek leaping into the room, smashing the syringe in the landing and snarling ferociously at Isaac causing the boy to fling himself against the wall and cower down with his head covered and shift back to normal.
Ignoring the amazed Stiles and enraged Alpha Jess scrambled across the room and pulled the cowering teen into her arms. "Shhh, baby it's ok. You're alright. Shhh." Noticing that her scarf from earlier was gone Jess pulled off the scarf she was wearing and wrapped it around the trembling teens neck. "Here you go baby." Jess cooed cuddling the teen close and rocking him gently.
Stepping close to Jess Derek looked down at the broken looking boy. "Plan?" Derek asked uncertainly.
Reaching up Jess grabbed Derek's hand and tugged. "Come here!" Jess ordered pulling him to kneel beside her. "Derek was never here. Crazy deputy attacked me and Stiles when we came to check on Isaac. I sprayed him in the face with pepper spray. When he went to kill Isaac, Isaac fought him off then was so scared he ran off." Taking Derek's hand she moved it to Isaac's head and smiled when he automatically started petting the boys hair. "Derek take him and hide him somewhere safe. Stay with him unless called to deal with Social Services. If that happens take him to me or Deaton! I will work to get any charges dropped. We'll say that Isaac is now so scared of men and police that he won't turn himself in because he is scared to have to be around strangers or police. Hopefully they make Derek a foster care provider then I can say that it is what made Isaac willing to come back as long as he gets to stay with Derek who is the one adult that he trusts." Jess laid out her idea for a plan in painful gasps still having a hard time breathing after the hard kick to her diaphragm. Derek and Stiles both agreed instantly.
"You are REALLY good at making up these plans!" Stiles complimented. "But won't they notice he wasn't pepper sprayed?" Stiles asked.
Turning Jess sprayed the unconscious man in the face with her pepper spray.
"Never mind." Stiles said weakly. Watching as Jess and Derek tried to coax the cowering boy to stand and Isaac just curled up tighter. Stiles was shocked when Derek just shrugged and scooped the trembling boy into his arms. Making a weird grumble at Isaac when he squirmed caused the boy to turn and cling to Derek tightly as Derek strode out of the room and headed for the backdoor of the station.
Staring after Derek with a slightly glazed look in her eyes Jess pulled herself together when the alarm was switched off and the Sheriff and several officers ran in through the door. Stiles instantly pointed saying the fake deputy had done it. Jess rolled her eyes still having trouble breathing. Turning to the fake deputy and snarling Jess pulled back her booted foot to kick the man in the crotch but was grabbed and pulled back out of range by the Sheriff and squeezed in a tight hug. Jess instantly started to kick and struggle in the man's arms tears streaming down her face as she fought to breath.
Seeing Jess struggling Stiles jumped forwards and grabbed his dad by the arm. "She can't breath!" He yelled yanking at his dad's arm to get him to release Jess. "That asshole kicked her hard in the gut and she hasn't been able to breath right since." Stiles said watching Jess with worry as the Sheriff let her go and she collapsed against the wall wheezing painfully.
"What the hell happened here?" The Sheriff demanded angrily.
Staggering over Jess pointed down at the stomped on syringe and mimed jabbing a needle into someone's neck and pointed at the empty cell then held up her pepper spray and smiled menacingly. When the Sheriff just looked confused she stomped her foot in annoyance and waved her hand at Stiles to have him tell what had happened.
An hour later Jess was sitting in the Sheriff's office on the couch wrapped in a blanket with a mug of tea, being fussed over by the same group of officers who seemed to be on call whenever something happened involving Jess and her friends. They were all smitten with the tiny little firecracker of a girl who wasn't afraid to fight to protect her friends.
After a lot of talking and questions from the Sheriff it was discovered that Isaac had thrown a fit when an officer insisted on taking his phone and scarf before trying to put him in a large holding cell. Angry over the tantrum the idiot officer had put him in the tiny isolation cell. Jess had lunged for the officer nails first when she heard this and Stiles had barely managed to grab her and stop her from clawing the man in the face. The officer had started to throw a fit about it until the Sheriff bellowed that the man was an idiot and threw Isaac's file to him. Grumbling and scowling the man had opened the file and promptly went white as a ghost then turned and puked into a nearby garbage can at the pictures inside.
Slumping back in her seat Jess covered her face with her hands. "You guys are never going to get him to trust you now. He was here on a technicality because an officer fucked up, he should never have been been brought here and definitely never even seen a cell. Then you take his only comfort items and get mad when he protests. Then someone dressed as a cop tries to kill him." Groaning in frustration Jess looked up. "Did he at least stop and steal his phone back before he left?" Jess asked the officers. A quick search showed the scarf and phone both missing from the basket they had been sitting in on a desk in the pit.
"I will try and talk him into turning himself in but I doubt it will happen anytime soon." Jess said sadly. "Not unless they manage to fast track Derek's applications and designate him as Isaac's temporary guardian. Derek is the only adult Isaac trusts." Jess said slowly getting to her feet and draining the last of her tea. "Is it OK if I leave now? I still have homework to do tonight." Jess asked the Sheriff politely. When he told her she was free to go Jess turned expectantly to Stiles and stared at him for a minute before sighing. "Stiles...you drove me here from the clinic. You need to give me a ride back to the clinic so I can get my truck and go home." Jess said slowly to the tired teen.
Instantly several officers were crowding forwards to offer the girl a ride. Rolling her eyes Jess slumped and waved at an officer she vaguely recognized as having liked Anne. "Yeah, you can drive me if it's alright with the Sheriff." Jess muttered walking stiffly to the front door of the station and following the officer out to his squad car. Jess was half asleep by the time they got to the clinic but still noticed the hopeful look on the officers face. "Would you like to come inside and say hello to Anne and the other dogs?" Jess asked.
"I would love too!" The officer said happily and scrambled out of the squad car like a bat out of hell. The officer rushed to open Jess's door then rushed ahead to open the animal clinic door but found it locked and slumped sadly. "Oh well, another time I guess." He said trying and failing not to pout.
Chuckling Jess pulled out her keys and unlocked the door watching the officers face light up excitedly. Opening the door and entering the clinic Jess and the officer were greeted by an excited Anne.
"Your puppy missed you a lot Miss Black." Deatons voice said from the exam room. Stepping out into the waiting area smiling widely Deaton's face paled as he noticed the officer beside her. There was movement from behind Deaton and a figure staggered across the room to throw themselves into Jess's arms.
Looking down to see a head of tousled blonde curls tucked tightly against her neck Jess wrapped her arms around the trembling boy and looked up at the gobsmacked officer beside her tensing for a fight.
Feeling Jess tense Isaac glanced up in concern unsure why she had tensed and saw the officer. Whimpering pathetically Isaac's eyes instantly filled with tears and he clung to Jess sniffling pitifully.
Looking absolutely horrified the officer rushed forwards and started awkwardly patting the boys back. "No, no, no! Oh buddy don't cry. It's alright. It's ok. I'm just here to visit the puppies." The officer rambled, desperately trying to reassure the distraught teen. "Please don't cry. I'm not going to take you back to the station or tell anyone that I saw you ok?" He babbled switching from patting Isaac's back to gently rubbing it when he saw Jess start stroking the boys hair.
"Shhh lambkin shhh." Jess cooed running her hands through the teens hair. "Listen baby, listen to the nice officer. He's just here to play with the puppies. He isn't going to take you away baby. Shhh, shhh, shhh." Slowly between Jess's reassurances and the officer's they manged to calm Isaac and convince him he wasn't being arrested again. A group text to Jess, Deaton, and Isaac a short while later had the whole group in the clinic smiling hapilly.
Melissa, Dr. Cat, Dr. Deaton, and the Sheriff all calling to vouch for me plus the extenuating circumstances with Isaac so scared of everyone had the Social Services people rushing through the paperwork and a home visit. As of five minutes ago I am Isaac's temporary legal guardian. Be at the clinic in a few minutes to pick up him and his stuff. -Derek
Smiling widely Jess told the officer the good news. By then he was sitting on the ground with Milo and Otis the recent rescues crawling around in his lap and Jess was sitting on a couch in the waiting room with Isaac half asleep lying in her arms. Reluctantly helping Deaton put Milo and Otis away and promising to come back to visit them soon the officer congratulated the exhausted teen and left the clinic.
Walking over to the pair on the couch the vet smiled. "Well I guess that really makes it official. Congratulations pack mother. It's a boy!"
When Derek showed up a few minutes later the vet helped him load all of Isaac's things and Jess's school things saying he didn't think the girl should drive in her condition. Watching the two exhausted teens stumble to the Camaro Derek had to agree that neither looked to be in a state to drive. Isaac crawled into the back seat and was asleep before they had even reached the McCall house. Jess slumped half asleep in the front seat was taking pictures of the sleeping teen and cooing sapily over them.
When they got to the McCall house Derek looked torn between carrying Jess's bag to the front door or staying to guard the sleeping teen. The front door opening and Scott rushing over to greet them solved that dilemma nicely. Handing Scott the bag he shushed him harshly when the teen tried to ask questions and pointed to the sleeping Isaac curled up in the back. "Jess can explain once you help her to her room." Derek told Scott curtly.
Jess leaned over and pressed a kiss to Derek's jaw before yawning hugely and getting out of the Camaro. Grabbing Scott's arm Jess pulled up the video of him tackling and sniffing Danny and showed it to him chuckling. "Man you guys make awful plans." Jess teased watching the video with Scott.
Blushing red Scott pouted and demanded. "Oh yeah what would you have done?" As he opened the door and led Jess through closing the door behind them.
Staring at the teen in disbelief Jess spoke slowly and made sure to enunciate carefully. "I would have just offered to play DEFENSE." Jess said releasing Scott's arm and slowly starting up the stairs.
Stopping dead in his tracks the teen groaned loudly. "How the HELL didn't we think of that!?" Scott asked Jess clearly horrified.
"I honestly wondered how you manage to dress yourself each day when I saw that shit show this morning." Jess called over her shoulder to the teen. Hobbling stiffly to her door Jess pulled out her keys and unlocked it. Entering her room Jess kicked off her boots and pulled her sweater off over her head stiffly, leaving her in nothing but her pants and a skimpy tank top. "Are you coming in here to talk or am I locking my door?" Jess called to Scott. Grabbing her bike shorts and a sport bra Jess went in the bathroom and changed into them. Coming out of the bathroom in just the bike shorts and sports bra Jess heard Scott squeak loudly before he gasped. Looking over at Scott confused Jess saw the teen staring hard at her stomach. Looking down at the large boot shaped bruise Jess grimaced. "Fucking Argent Arms Scum Bags." Jess growled poking gingerly at the bruise. Grabbing an instant cold pack from her dresser Jess activated the cold pack and laying on her back on the bed Jess placed the cold pack over the bruise and groaned. "Fucking fuckwitts trying to hurt my innocent little puppy." Jess growled angrily. Setting a timer for 20 minutes on her phone so she didn't forget to remove the ice pack Jess set the phone beside her pillow and relaxed. Glancing over at Scott Jess sighed. "Do you have questions or are you just going to stand there and admire my physique?" Jess asked throwing her arm over her eyes.
Grabbing the desk chair Scott brought it over beside Jess's bed and sat down in it. "You know about the hunters. And you seem to like Isaac. Why would you still let Derek bite him?" Scott asked Jess softly.
Sighing Jess asked Scott a question in return.
"You know Allison is the daughter of hunters. You know she has attacked one of your friends and you. She allowed one of her closest friend's family member to be held captive and tortured. You know dating her could lead to you or your friends being killed. How could you still date her?" Jess asked Scott just as softly.
Scott stared at Jess. "Because I LOVE her." Scott said as if it was the most obvious answer in the world.
Jess just stared at Scott smiling softly for a minute. "And I ĹOVE Derek. I love everything about him. Including the part that isn't quite human. He wasn't raised as a normal human and he doesn't think the same as a normal human. He was born a wolf and raised as a wolf and he thinks like a wolf. He doesn't think of the bite as a curse. He calls it a gift." Jess slowly and calmly. "We saved Isaac from the weirdo werewolf. Isaac saw what Derek could do and he ASKED to be bitten. No he begged. He was already living in fear and was hunted in his own home. He had a life time of living in fear with no hope for a win. With the bite he can protect himself and he has a family to help protect him from the few things his new strength won't help him against. And Derek isn't Peter Isaac didn't get mugged in the woods, bitten against his will, and left to do or die. He got hours of lecturing and warnings and had to think about it for a few hours after that and had to make an argument for why he should get the bite despite the risks. You went into that house. You honestly think he was better off without the bite?" Jess asked.
Scott sighed. "Poor guy would have accepted any risks to be able to feel safe and get away from there. Why couldn't Derek have just helped him without biting him? Why couldn't you?" Scott asked sadly.
Hearing that Jess started to chuckle. "Seriously have you met me? Have you met Derek? We spent ages trying to convince Isaac to let us help him without the bite. He BEGGED for it." Jess said still chuckling. "We made damn sure he understood that our help was a guarantee, the bite was just something we would have to think about. But after Isaac spending the entire night hanging out with Derek and asking him questions I think Derek may have actually been puppy dog eyed by Isaac into giving him the bite." Jess whispered the last part as though frightened by the very idea of it. The two sat in silence until Jess's phone started to beep when her 20 minute timer went off. Whining loudly Jess slapped at her phone to shut it up but didnt remove the ice pack. Closing her eyes Jess barely noticed when Scott removed the ice pack, covered her with a blanket, and crept quietly out of the room. She was so tired. She would just close her eyes for a minute before she got up to lock her door.
