"Let them go, Alec." I growled. "The wolves and all of the Cullens. We were just supposed to be taking out the army."

Alec glared at me. "You neglected to mention we were colluding with our enemy. Caius won't be pleased to learn of what I've done- or what the Cullens are doing."

"They also didn't inform the Volturi that they'd added someone to their coven." Jane added. "Though I notice Kate Denali is here, maybe she's a friend of theirs."

I didn't know who the young dark haired girl was with them, so I couldn't come to their defense. "What can Caius do to the two of you? Aren't you the most powerful of the guard?" I questioned.

I felt my body collapse to the ground in agony as Jane used her gift on me. Every inch of my body burned with searing pain unlike anything I'd ever felt. "You tell me. How powerful do you think I am now?" Jane laughed. Her laughter sounding like a child's, and that somehow made her more wicked.

"Enough, sister. It's time to dispose of the newborns." Alec told her.

I was finally able to catch my breath as Jane's assault on me ended. I knelt on the ground for a moment, regaining my composure before standing next to my allies.

"Did any of the wolves manage to escape?" I asked.

Alec grimaced. "Only one. The black one and reddish brown one were the last to fall. The one that escaped was smaller than them, a more true brown color."

"Was there a dark silver one that you saw?"

He nodded. "He saved the brown one that managed to get away. He's here."

I knew thankfully that the effects of Alec's smoke wasn't permanent. As soon as he retracted it, their senses would be restored.

"I want to be there when the wolves wake up." I told him. "It's going to be a very uneasy reunion."

Alec agreed to my request. "Should you go find the brown one that got away?" He asked.

Jared. I knew it was him. "I suppose. I'm sure he's in La Push by now. How long can you hold this?"

"As long as I need to. Come back to me when you're ready, but I won't wait all day." Alec told me.

I thanked him and ran. I was willing to bet that Jared had gone back to Sam's house, and I wasn't sure he'd be excited to see me. I was thankful that Leah wasn't the lone surviving wolf, because nothing in me wanted to face her right now. I knew how betrayed they would all feel, but they'd have to understand; I'd done this to save all of them.

Being on the reservation felt like home, even though my heart and soul was back at the clearing. I didn't know if you could think while under Alec's gift, but I knew he'd be proud of himself for saving Jared if he could. I thought of the rest of the wolves who were stranded there, frozen in time. I wouldn't leave them long.

I walked up Sam's porch and opened the front door without knocking. Jared sat as the man on the floor in front of the fireplace, clutching a photo to his chest and sobbing loudly. If he'd heard me come in, he hadn't reacted. I sat down next to him and he still didn't look up. I leaned my head over on his shoulder.

"I've missed you." I told him.

He stopped sobbing and froze. He pushed his head back up and dropped the photo as he turned slowly toward me. "Rosalie?" He gasped. He pulled me in to his arms and started sobbing loudly again. "Oh, Rosalie! They're all gone, all of them! All of the Cullen's, the pack, all of the imprints! Paul and Kim.." His voice broke off and he sobbed again.

I hugged him tightly. I didn't have all of the answers, I didn't know anything about the imprints. Where had they gone? "They're not gone, Jared. The smoke doesn't kill them. It was the only way I could protect you all."

He pulled away from me. "You did this?" He growled. "How are you even alive?"

I pulled him to the couch. "Let's sit down. Do you want me to tell you what happened, or should I tell all of you together?"

He sat down next to me. "We should tell everyone together. But how could you do that to us? To Paul?"

I put my hand on his knee gently. "I didn't want to. If I would have stayed, we all would've died together. Do you think he'll forgive me?"

He laced his fingers in mine. "Of course he will. Let's go get them."

We walked hand in hand back to Jane and Alec. He caught me up on everyone and what had happened. The wedding had went almost as planned. Paul had been in a lot of pain, and I felt so guilty as I listened to him recount the agony my mate was in. Rachel had phased and imprinted on my brother. Embry had imprinted on Kate. I was happy that he'd found a partner, and I was happy for my cousin too. The girl that had been with them was Bree, one of the newborns from the army. She had been sent back by Kate and Embry when they'd come to look for me, and she had earned Paul's trust. I knew I'd get along with her if my mate did.

"It's time, Alec." I told him.

Jared asked me to stand by him as we released the pack, but the newborns still needed to be wiped out. Jane walked down with him instead, agreeing to disable all of them with her gift while Jared took off their heads. I stood by Alec's side. He had become my most unlikely friend and ally. He was already warming up to Jared and I knew he wouldn't allow anyone to harm the pack or my family. I just hoped that Paul would forgive me as easily as Jared had.

I watched next to Alec as he pulled the smoke back and released the pack members and newborns. Jared stood in his human form next to Jane waiting for his alpha. I was out of their line of sight, but I could hear them clearly. Sam and Jacob were the last to be taken by the smoke and the first to be released. They both growled at Jane when they saw her crimson eyes.

"Calm down." Jared told them. "She was the one protecting us. Remember when Paul asked why our enemies were dropping to the ground in pain? It's her gift. She's an ally."

Jacob phased to his human form to communicate with Jared. "What the hell is that smoke? All of my senses were disabled or something, I thought we were all going to die!" He yelled.

Jane laughed lightly. "That's my brother. He knew I couldn't protect everyone, it was the only way to incapacitate the entire army."

"So what's our move here, Jared?" The pack beta asked his subordinate.

"I'll phase back with you. They'll only release one or two of them at a time and we'll kill them as they do." Jared told him.

The two of them phased and I watched as they fought alongside Sam. It was a slow process as Alec was careful to only release a few of them at a time. It wasn't much of a fight with Jane on their side.

There were only a few newborns between them and the person I was anxious to see; Paul. The second the smoke pulled away from him I felt the pull of our imprint, something I hadn't felt in so long. I wanted to run to him, to hold him in my arms and beg for his forgiveness. But I couldn't, not yet.

Paul looked overjoyed to see Jared. He was truly my mate's closest friend. Realizing they didn't need to fight, the two of them phased back to their human forms and stood alongside Jane. They embraced in a long hug that warmed my heart.

"Man, can I tell you something crazy?" Paul asked Jared.

Jared chuckled. "Nothing can be crazier than today has been. Go for it."

He looked down at the ground. "I know she's dead, but I swear I can feel Rosalie again. It's like the imprint is back, but that's not possible. I know it isn't Bella, it's Rose, but it doesn't make sense."

Jared looked directly to where I was sitting next to Alec. He couldn't see me because of all of the smoke, but he knew I was there. "Crazier things have happened." Was his simple response.

They were slowly reunited with the rest of the pack and my family. I growled as I saw Bree run to Paul and Jared and hug them both. She finally settled herself next to Seth and he wrapped his arm around her shoulders. Jasper and Emmett were less than thrilled to see Jane, but Carlisle was his normal pleasant self. He quickly tended to Embry's wound, carefully setting the bone before his enhanced healing had time to kick in. Emmett had started a fire to burn all of the newborns they'd killed today.

"It's time, sister." Alec told me.

He jumped from the cliff we were both hiding on top of and approached the pack. I knew they weren't going to accept what was coming. He had yet to release Edward, Victoria, or Angela.

"Hello." He greeted them. "I am Alec of the Volturi. Jane is my sister. I'm going to release these three one by one. Shall we start with the redhead?"

"Jane, you'll take her down as soon as he releases her?" Jasper asked. "She seems to have a gift for evasion."

Jane smiled back at him. "Gladly."

The smoke drifted away from Victoria and she looked around at all of the limbs of her army and started to run, but fell to the ground as Jane softly muttered the word "pain". Jacob walked to her as a human, intent on killing her slowly. He pushed her head down into the ground with his heel as he ripped off her arms. Her screams filled the air, and I saw Bree hiding her face in Seth's chest. Jacob grabbed her by her fiery red hair and dragged her over to the fire slowly before tossing her body in it.

"I like you guys." Jane commented. Seth grimaced at her implying that they thought similarly.

"Edward is next." Alec announced.

Jane chuckled. "I can't wait."

"Actually, I want to fight him without any interference." Jasper told her.

She frowned. "Fine. But I won't let him win."

"He won't."

Alec slowly pulled the smoke back and Edward looked around him. "Where's Bella?" He asked.

"It's none of your fucking business, leech." Paul growled.

I hadn't forgotten how strange he'd acted around Bella right before I left. He was so protective of her in a way I couldn't understand.

Edward glared back at him. "I hardly think my Bella is any business of yours, mutt."

It took all of my restraint not to rip his head off myself. I owed it to Paul and Jasper not to reveal myself that way.

"And what business is it of yours?" Paul asked. "You tried to kill my brother. You made us kill Alice. You ordered Angela to kill. my. mate." He said through gritted teeth.

Edward laughed at him. "I didn't tell anyone to kill Rosalie, though I'm certainly not mourning her. It's unfortunate that Alice let you all know I ordered her to kill Embry, but it was necessary. And Alice is dead? That must be why I haven't heard from her."

"Were you sleeping with her, Edward?" Carlisle asked him.

He hung his head. No matter how far gone Edward was, he still respected Carlisle as his father. "Not actively. But before Bella, and admittedly right after I left Bella, yes."

Jasper slapped his face hard. "That was my wife. Jane offered to kill you for me, but that would be too easy. You're going to fight me man to man."

"I have no interest in fighting you." Edward replied. "I'm here to get my love and go."

Before anyone could respond he fell to the ground, screaming in agony. "You're welcome." Jane said.

"Jasper, I know you want to fight him but I don't want him to run." Sam told him. "Let's just end this so we can all go home."

"Fine." Jasper replied. He walked over to Edward. "Goodbye, brother."

I turned away as he ripped his head off and threw him in the fire. Edward had been one of my closest friends once upon a time.

Paul stepped in front of Alec. "This next one is mine. She killed my mate." His knees buckled and he fell to the ground screaming.

"Stop it!" Bree yelled. "Stop hurting him!"

Jane knew who Paul was to me. I wouldn't stand by while she hurt him, no matter what he'd said. The pack needed to know the truth. Jared phased and started running toward Jane and I jumped from my perch on the cliff and landed between them, knocking her down as I did.

"I don't care what he said, Jane. If you ever hurt my mate again, I will kill you." I growled at her.

Paul looked up and our eyes met. "Rosalie? You're.. you're alive? How? What is going on?"

I ran over to him and jumped in his arms, hugging him tightly. "I'm so, so sorry babe." I whispered in his ear. "Please forgive me."

He let go of me and looked in my eyes. "What the hell happened? Why did you leave me?" I'd never seen eyes that held so much pain before.

"As touching as this reunion is, I'd like to release my mate and be on my way if I can get some assurance that none of you will attack her." Alec said.

Carlisle addressed him. "You have our word. Our only problem with Angela was that we blamed her for the death of my daughter, which was clearly a misunderstanding."

"Some misunderstanding." Paul yelled. "I can't believe this shit. I mourned you! I cried for you, I was in agony over you! And you were what, out playing with Angela? I can't even look at you right now." He phased and ran away from me.

I felt like my heart had been ripped from my chest. I started to follow him, but Jared placed his hand on my shoulder and held me back. "Don't. I'll go talk to him. I love you, and I'm glad you're back." He hugged me quickly before phasing and running after Paul.

Before I could acknowledge anyone else, I felt someone crash in to me and knew it was Embry. I hugged him back, glad that he still cared. "I know he's mad at you, but I'm glad you're here." He whispered in my ear.

He pulled away and I smiled back at him. "Congrats on your imprint, Em. My cousin is a great girl. I'm happy for you."

I looked around at the rest of the family and the pack, and nobody looked happy to see me. Bree looked especially angry. Normally I'd confront her, but I was in no position to do that.

Alec released Angela and Jane moved to her side. "We'll be going now." Alec told us. "Rosie, you know where to find us should you ever need anything."

I hugged him before they left. "Thank you so much for saving my family, Alec. If there is ever anything I can do to return the favor, please let me know."

"Thank you for helping me find my mate, sister." He replied.

Jasper came and shook his hand. "Thank you for helping us."

"Be careful." Jane cautioned us. "We won't plan to tell Aro or Caius of this, but if they find out about your alliance with the wolves we won't stand against them."

"Understandable." Carlisle told her. "We appreciate everything you've done for our family."

The three of them had ran from our sight before anyone could say another word. I turned around and faced my family. "Is anyone happy to see me?" I asked.

"You've got to understand our hesitancy here, Rose." Sam answered. "You left us, made us think you died. And then you come back with friends? Do you see how that's a little insulting?"

"Especially to Paul." Jacob cut in. "Did you know he blacked out almost every night from the pain? He slept at my house. One night he slept in the bed with me and Bella."

How could they have expected me to think about Paul being in pain when I was focused on saving his life? On saving all of them?

"Maybe if you hear me out and I tell you the full story it will make more sense." I argued with them.

Sam shook his head. "Not right now. We need to get the girls back and we need some time together as a pack. Jasper will tell you when we're ready to hear you out."

How could he ask for time as a pack and exclude me? Wasn't I part of the pack?

I turned around and looked at Carlisle. "Where will I go? Emmett and Leah live with you, and I'm assuming Rachel does now too."

Carlisle wrapped his arms around me. "Your mother and I will never turn our backs on you, Rosalie. Your brothers can stay on the reservation with their mates, we won't kick you out of our home."

"We want to hear your story." Jasper told me. "Me and Emmett will be over tonight when we get back with the girls. We have to bring Esme home. I need to know what happened to you."

"I'll just go stay with the Denali coven." Bree said. "Kate was going home tonight anyway."

I hadn't realized she was living with my family, but I should have known that she wouldn't be allowed to go to the reservation.

Everyone phased except for Sam and ran back toward La Push. He came over to me before leaving and wrapped his arms around me.

"It is good to see you. I promise everyone will come around." He told me. "This is just a hard time for us. We love you, you're pack."

He turned and phased, following his pack. Kate had left with them, so it was just my family and Jasper's friends that remained. Jasper was seeing them off before he and Emmett went to get the imprints.

Carlisle and I walked home together in near silence. I was ready to tell them what happened, but I thought Paul deserved to hear it before anyone else. I tried to call him a few times, but he wouldn't answer.

I waited for my brothers and Esme to return, but I really hoped that Paul would come first.
