Rosalie

As soon as Paul fell asleep I left to get some things in order. The addition to our home was almost complete but we hadn't bought anything I could use for one baby, much less two. I called Kate and asked her to come help me- I knew she wasn't pursuing Embry but she was the closest thing I had to a sister and I needed the help. I had Leah too of course, but I knew babies were a sore subject for her. Kate told me she'd be here within the hour. My first stop was my parent's house. Esme had bought tons of things for the pack babies, but we couldn't have anticipated two more.

My heart ached for my mate. I told him so many times how badly I wanted to be a mother, but I never wanted it this way. When I walked in my parent's house, Emmett and Jasper were sitting at the table in the dining room next to Esme. She had her laptop open, clearly deep in thought.

"Where are Rachel and Leah?" I asked them.

"Rachel is still at the hospital with Kim. Jared is at the station helping Quil with his paperwork for the shooting, so Rachel will be with Kim until he's done." Jasper explained.

"Leah ran to our house for something, she should be back any minute." Emmett told me.

I sat down next to Jasper while Esme explained what she was doing. She had ordered two sets of matching bedroom furniture for the babies. They would be ready at the store in Seattle in a few hours, and Jasper was going to go with her to pick them up and would help set them up at our house. Without our new addition, we still had three bedrooms, so we had space for the babies until the larger nursery was finished.

"How is Quil holding up?" Emmett asked me.

I sighed. "Not great from what I saw earlier. He's so afraid of Paul being angry with him."

"That's understandable, he did kill his father. Paul has to wonder what would have happened if the shot had been fired sooner." Jasper commented.

"According to Carlisle, the official cause of death was blunt force trauma from a head injury she suffered before the authorities arrived." Esme added.

Emmett shook his head. "We all know this wouldn't be the first time Carlisle lied on an official document. Edward and Alice supposedly died in a car accident."

I smacked his arm. "You know that's different. Quil didn't kill Paul's mother."

"I hope you're right, but I'm not convinced." Emmett told me.

I couldn't listen to them anymore. My phone buzzed with a text from Kate.

Almost to your parents house. You here or at the res?

I told her I was here and walked outside to wait for her. Bree was sitting alone on the front porch. I instantly felt guilty for calling Kate instead of Bree, but I honestly could use the help of both. Bree gave me an angry glare when she saw Kate but I knew she wouldn't say anything, at least not yet.

The two girls followed me to my house, awkwardly not speaking to each other but both carrying a conversation with me. They were both concerned for Paul. Thankfully, Paul was a heavy sleeper and didn't wake up as we worked in the two original bedrooms in the house aside from ours. There wasn't enough space for two sets of furniture in either of the rooms, so we had to clean both. Sam and I had been storing supplies and materials for the new addition in these rooms, so they needed to be moved and we needed to paint both rooms. The hardware store in Forks wasn't open yet so for now we were just cleaning. I heard a knock at the door and left the girls alone to see who it was.

I hoped it wasn't anyone from the station, or anyone other than pack really, because I wasn't dressed well. I had on old jeans and a black t-shirt, and my hair was in a messy ponytail. I tried to straighten my shirt a little at least, but it was no use. I was covered in sawdust and dirt from moving the building supplies.

I opened the door to every male member of the pack. Sam, Jared, Jacob, Embry, Seth, and Quil all stood in front of me. Harry Clearwater and Charlie Swan were here too. There were two of Sam's construction trucks outside and all of the boys were in overalls with tools in their hands.

"Good morning, Rosalie." Sam greeted me. "Is Paul awake?"

I shook my head. "No, he's still asleep."

"Good, he needs to rest." Jacob smiled brightly. "We're here to get the construction finished up on the house. Sam said there wasn't much left and with all of us we should be able to finish it up today."

I couldn't contain my joy. I hugged Sam tightly. "Thank you so much. All of you. You have no idea how much this means to me."

"Rosalie, you're pack. I don't know how many times I'll have to explain it to you; we're all family. We take care of our family. You and Paul have to have space for the babies. We will get this done today, I promise." Sam told me.

Kate and Bree came to the door and Embry flinched at the sight of his imprint.

"What about your babies though? Who is with Bella and Emily?"

Jacob spoke again. "They're with Esme. Jasper and Emmett went to Seattle to pick up her order and she's staying with the girls at her house. Leah went with the guys to get some other essentials you'll need, and Rach is at the hospital with Kim."

"Sue is still at the hospital with the twins. So is Carlisle." Harry told me.

"I can't thank you guys enough." I told them. "I love you all so much."

"Well, you don't have to thank us but we would take breakfast." Seth added.

Bree chuckled at him and went off toward my kitchen to start cooking. Sam followed me back to the two rooms we were cleaning out and the two of us moved all of the supplies outside so the guys could get started. He gave me a list of things he needed from the hardware store and the color codes for the paint we'd picked last time we went together. Kate left with me and Bree stayed behind to make everyone breakfast.

"You didn't tell me he'd be here." Kate commented as we drove toward Forks.

I sighed. "He always will be, Kate. I'm sure he doesn't blame you, though. He just wants you to be happy."

She didn't talk again for the rest of the drive. We arrived at the hardware store and she helped me collect the things on Sam's list. For the two rooms in the main house, I chose a sage green and a pale yellow. Esme was getting matching sets of furniture for the babies but I didn't know what colors she went with. These would go with any of the neutral options she had. The goal was to move the babies in to the big nursery in the new addition as soon as it was done, but I wasn't certain that would be today.

I wanted to stop by and see the babies while we were in Forks, but it felt wrong without Paul. I decided I could at least go see Kim. I wasn't even sure of the gender of her baby, so I needed to visit with her. Kate dropped me off and drove the supplies back to Sam on the reservation. I wasn't sure what room Kim was in, so I had to stop at reception and I asked for Carlisle. They all knew me as his daughter, so they complied with no hesitation. He greeted me warmly and led me to my friend's room.

Rachel was sitting at Kim's bedside sleeping while Kim looked down at the little baby in front of her with tears in her eyes. She smiled when she saw me.

"I'm so glad you're here, Rosalie." She said. "I am so sorry about Paul's mom, but at least all of these babies will grow up together."

"They'll all have the same birthday, too." Carlisle added.

Kim chuckled. "Esme will have a time with that."

"Aren't you going to introduce Rosalie to the baby?" Rachel asked

"Oh!" Kim yelled and woke the baby. "Yes, Rosalie I forgot you hadn't met him. This is Mason."

Carlisle gave me a pointed look and I could feel the color flush from my face.

"What is that look about?" Kim asked. "Carlisle, Rosalie, one of you tell me."

Carlisle sat down next to her and rubbed her arm gently. "Masen was Edward's last name. He carried it over when he changed to Cullen, as a second middle name I suppose."

Kim screamed. A horror movie, blood curdling, murder victim type of scream. She was disgusted with her choice of name and I regretted that neither of us had known sooner.

"Tell me you haven't signed the birth certificate?" Rachel asked.

She shook her head. "I need Jared, now."

"I'll go." I told her. I kissed the baby's forehead before I left. "It's nice to meet you Ma- baby."

I ran out of the room and back to La Push. It was nice to run. Running gave me time and space to clear my head. I wasn't excited to tell Jared that his baby shared a name with Edward, so I'd delegate that to my very soon to be husband. My parent's house was on the way to La Push so I ran by there first. I didn't go inside but wanted to confirm a suspicion I had- Kate had went there to help Esme with the girls and the babies. I didn't blame her, but I wished she would give Embry more of a chance.

Paul was awake when I got back to our house and surprisingly in a good mood. Bree had cooked enough to feed a few armies and Paul was leaning against the island, eating and chatting with her. I pulled up a chair by him and gave him a blank expression. I didn't know how to say what I needed to say.

"You look like you've seen a ghost, Rosie." Bree commented.

I chuckled. "Oh no, haven't seen one, just my nephew that's named after one.."

Paul spit out his food. "I'm sorry? Who is named after what?"

I stood up and pushed him in to my chair, taking the plate of food out of his hands. "Kim and Jared accidentally gave their baby Edward's name."

Bree moved to my side. "I'm sorry? Of all the names they chose Edward, Anthony, or Masen?"

I wished Bree had been there when they were naming him now. "Unfortunately, that is correct."

Paul opened the door and yelled for the guys to come in. They needed to eat anyway. I moved out of their way and they all filed in to the kitchen and got their plates. We had put in a big dining room table just in case of times like this when we had to accommodate the entire pack. Paul squeezed my hand while all of the guys slowly made their way around the kitchen and to the table.

"Let him eat first." I whispered to Paul.

"I can't wait that long." He responded.

Bree took a seat next to Seth and Harry but kept looking at me and back at Jared. Sam had been working with Carlisle to create a family tree for the pack and our family, so he knew all of our full names. I thought it may be better to let Sam figure it out before we announce it.

"Jared, have you told your brothers what you named your baby?" I asked, knowing that he hadn't.

His face lit up. "Oh, yeah!" He said with a mouthful of food. "His name is Mason."

Sam choked when he heard that, spitting his food out on his plate. "I'm sorry?"

Jared glared at him. "Do you have a problem with my son's name, Uley?"

"Yeah." Jacob responded. "You named him after a leech."

"No I didn't! There's no leeches named Mason!" Jared screamed.

"Well, technically not anymore." Embry responded. "But there was Edward Anthony Masen Cullen."

Jared's face stared to turn red and Paul laughed. His laughter proved to be contagious because the entire pack was laughing within a few minutes.

"Guys, come on now. It's not that funny." Charlie scolded.

"Oh but it is." Jake responded, laughing harder.

I walked over to Jared and sat beside him. "It's okay, Kim hasn't signed the birth certificate yet. You can still change it."

He stood up from the table. "I'm taking your car, Rose." He grabbed my keys off the table and ran out the door. I heard my engine rev as he sped out of the driveway.

"He's lucky I don't follow him and give him a ticket." Charlie grumbled as he ate.

Over the next half hour, I just sat with Paul and the pack while they all ate. It felt like nothing bad had happened; we were just a big family having lunch. I needed the escape from this tragedy that they were able to offer. I'd never met Paul's mom, and now I never would. He seemed to be okay right now, so I didn't bring anything up. He mentioned that we'd be leaving as soon as they were all done eating to get married at the courthouse. Bree told us she'd stay back and paint the rooms for us. I hated that our wedding was being rushed, but I'd do anything to help my mate and take those babies.

We eventually did leave and drove alone to the courthouse. I had pictured our wedding going so much differently. I wanted Leah to be there. The rest of the pack too, but Leah most of all. I had missed her wedding and now she would miss mine. These circumstances were different though. There was nothing either of us could have changed.

We got to the courthouse and Carlisle met us in the lobby. Paul told me he didn't want me to have to get married without any of my family there, so he had arranged for Carlisle to meet us there. There was a judge there to officiate and Carlisle stood behind us as we said our vows.

Our next stop was the funeral home in Forks. Paul didn't want his mom to have a Quileute funeral. She escaped the reservation and all of the abuse she suffered there, and he couldn't subject her to coming back now. He wanted her to be buried at the cemetery in Forks. He knew his decision wouldn't be a popular one on the reservation, but I promised I'd stand by him. He made the arrangements and paid for the services in cash. The funeral would be at the end of the week, and we'd bring both babies with us.

We finally made it to the hospital to see the babies. They needed names, but I was leaving that to Paul. I would love them no matter what their names were. We stopped by to see Jared and learned that they renamed their baby Noah. Carlisle assured them that he'd never crossed an evil vampire named Noah and they both agreed to sign the birth certificate. I was excited to one day tell baby Noah that he was almost named after one of us. I'd wait until his first phase, or maybe that would be how we'd force him to phase if we needed to.

Sue was still in the room with both babies, but surprisingly Leah was with her this time. They each had one of them in their arms. Paul sat down next to Sue and took the boy from her. I didn't know if I should think of him as Paul's brother or son- he made it clear that they wouldn't know they lost their parents until they were much older. Leah brought the little girl over and handed her to me. She had Paul's hair and his eyes. She looked so much like him, these kids would never question he was their blood. They may not believe that I was, though.

"So, Paul." Sue spoke after awhile. "What are you naming these sweet babies?"

He smiled at her. "I've been thinking about it all day. Even had to go see Old Quil and Jake this morning."

"Jake?" Leah asked.

Paul nodded. "Didn't want to step on any toes. This little guy is going to be Gabriel Quil. They don't know it yet, but Quil was their hero. We might have lost Mom, but they could've been next if Quil hadn't been there."

"What does that have to do with Jake?" Leah interrupted. Sue smacked her lightly and told her to be patient.

"That sweet girl is going to be named after Charlie. I was going to name her Charley with a y instead of ie, but do you think it would be confusing with two of them around?" He asked us.

"It might be." Sue told him.

"I like Carlie. Spell it with the ie, just like Charlie does so he'll know it's after him." Leah suggested.

Paul smiled. "Carlie then. Carlie Susan."

Sue started crying. "Are you sure, Paul? Shouldn't you name her after Scarlett?"

He shook his head. "I thought about it, I did. But I think both of them need to be named after the people that saved their mother. He's named after Quil, and she will be named after you and Charlie. You did save my mom Sue, whether you believe it or not. You saved me, too."

"Where did Gabriel come from?" Leah wondered.

Paul looked at her like she was stupid. "It's Harry's middle name, Leah."

We all had a laugh at Leah's expense and spent the rest of the evening holding Gabriel and Carlie. We still needed to get through the funeral this week, but I knew everything would work out for our little family.
