The burrow was a nice peaceful wizarding house in the night. No troubles, no pain. No fear.
In the early morning Devon Oakland, woke up and felt an owl poking at his hand he stroked the bird and took the letter
It was from Dumbledore.
Devon please inform Ms Weasley I'll be arrive in the early hours to talk about "private matters you've brought up with me
Sincerely Albus.
Devon got up from the forest floor and made his way into the burrow for breakfast.
Molly Weasley was up making breakfast when Devon walked in
"Oh Devon you're early! Please take a seat can I get you anything?" She asked
"Not anything I can't get myself, Mrs Weasley." Devon said as he handed her the letter.
Molly looked at the letter and pursed her lips.
"Oh I…ok…thanks sweety. I think I hear Ron and the other boys waking up." Molly said
Devon narrowed his eyes clearly the women didn't trust him…perhaps it was her mother coddling nature. He nodded and left
When he left he heard Molly mutter "oh Albus what is it now?"
Devon woke up Harry and Ron. And smiled seeing Devon
Outside in the hall Harry was waiting for Ron to get up.
The door across from him opened and Ginny poped out
"Oh hey Harry hi." Ginny said
Harry smiled "hey Ginny ready for today?" Harry asked
Ginny nodded "you bet. Ron told me a lot about it already. I'm very excited!" Ginny said
Excited excited for what?" A voice said behind them
Harry turned to see Fred and George standing there
"N-nothing." Harry said
The twins looked at each other "hmmm looks like there trying to hide something from us Gred." Forge said
"I think your right Forge." Gred said
"BOYS BREAKFAST!" Molly called
"Coming mother." The twins called
Harry and Ginny stood frozen for a second then looked at each other. They didn't even notice they were getting closer. Until Percy barged right through them down the stairs
"Come on Harry." He said as he grabbed the boy by the arm and dragged him away
Ginny looked saddened as Harry looked back
In another room Devon watched the interaction. He knew Percy purposely barged past them and dragged Harry away.
He wanted to break them apart.
Devon had to use everything he had to not charge after him.
He simply didn't know that by doing that he was hurting Harry and Ginny.
The soul bond would work on its own time. And any interference could possibly affect there magical maturity.
He headed down stairs with Ginny and found Harry sitting in his guest spot next to where Devon sat with Percy sitting next to him on the other side
"Come on you to I'm hungry." Ron moaned
Devon nodded and took his seat… but not next to Harry.
Percy and the others looked at Devon as if he had an extra head "Um Devon. I think your sitting In Ginny's seat." He said
Devon waved his hand
"Oh it's fine Ginny can swap seats with me for today."
Percy narrowed his eyes "I don't think-." He tried to argue
Until Molly came up "oh Percy hush it's just a seat!" She said before rubbing Ginny's back "go on honey."
Ginny smiled and nodded she looked to Devon and her eyes gave a bright smile 'thank you'
Devon smiled as Ginny sat in his seat.
And watched as the seats of Harry and Ginny started to inch closer together without them noticing.
Molly sighed "alright we can dig in." She said as she revealed the English breakfast.
The breakfast was amazing and as soon as it was finished Arthur came home from the Ministry.
"Hello." He said
"Oh hello love." Molly greeted him
Ron and the twins wrinkled there faces before they tried to tease Ron.
"Oh boys enough!" Molly said
Suddenly the floo went off
Arthur looked at the chimney "are you expecting anyone dear?" He asked
Molly jumped up "oh right! Percy why don't you and the boys get a game of quidditch going have Ron and Ginny join." She said
The twins chuckled "oh please mum Ginny? She's going to be on the ground for the rest of her life?" Fred said
"Yea Ginny can't fly!"
"She can referee though." Percy said
Devon looked over and saw Ginny deflate in sadness
But he wasn't the only one as Harry approached her.
"Do you want to use my broom?" He asked
Ginny perked up
"R-really?" She asked
Harry nodded
Devon smiled and looked to Ron. He was trying to process the gears in his head
Devon stepped forward "Ron can I talk to you?" Devon asked
Ron nodded "yeah.. we'll get the brooms and Stuff to play." He said
Devon and Ron were in the broom shed as Devon turned
"Ron how do you feel about Harry and Ginny?" Devon asked
Ron recoiled "why are you asking…and why are you lumping them together?" He asked
"The answer will change your life. Please." Devon said
Ron sighed
"Honestly desperate how weird it is…I'd say there made for each other…which I'm kinda fearful of." He said
"Why?" Devon asked
"Because as long as I've known Ginny was obsessed with Harry Potter as a crush and well now… I just don't want her taking advantage of him." Ron said
Devon smiled "your a good brother Ron. I'm going to let in a little secret. But you can't share it yet got it."
Ron nodded courious as to what it was.
"Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley are a soul bond." He said
Ron gasped "you mean from. The beetle and the bard?" Ron asked
Devon nodded
"Holy shit…do they know?" Ron asked
Devon shook his head "no and we can't tell them or else it will drastically affect the outcome." Devon said
Ron nodded "so that's why you let Ginny sit in your chair
"They were about to kiss on the stairs until Percy dragged Harry away.
Ron looked livid.
"Percy doesn't know." Devon said
"He'd probably still act like a pounce even if he did." Ron said
"Dumbledore is coming over to talk about it with your parents." Devon said
"Does he believe?" He asked
Devon nodded. "There will probably be a family meeting tomorrow or something about it." He said
Ron nodded
"Hurry up you to where are the brooms?!" George asked
Devon nodded "go I know Dumbledore wants me for the meeting
Ron nodded and dragged the Brooms out with the quaffle
Fred moaned "finally." He said "now we can play."
Harry looked at Ginny.
"Wanna come up with me first?" He asked
Ginny shook her head
Harry smiled and handed her his nimbus
George came up behind him and patted his shoulder "well Harry it was nice knowing you good luck with the school brooms this year…"
"WOOOOOHOOOOO!" Ginny screamed as she shot off like a rocket
The Weasley boys were floored
"You were saying?" He asked
From the rear Devon smiled as he headed back inside.
In the kitchen Molly was making tea as Dumbledore and Arthur sat at the table.
"It's so great to see you Albus. Harry is being a great host- oh Devon? why sent you outside with the others?" Molly asked
Albus raised his hand "actually I asked asked him to be here…if that's ok…" he said
Molly frowned "oh…ok…" she said
Devon sat down
"Now I'm going to get into it. From information I've gathered it has come to my attention that…we'll Harry's caretakers have been abusive to him."
Molly gasped
Arthur looked livid at Dumbledore.
"Didn't you say that he was safe?" He asked
Dumbledore nodded "yes a grave error for me I know. As of now I'm thinking of a way to protect Mr Potter. As well as giving him a good home." He said
"Protecting him a what are you talking about?" Arthur Asked
"Tell me what do know of what happened at the end of last year." Devon asked
Molly knew nothing. And Arthur was only aware a few students including Ron was hurt.
Dumbledore sighed clearly he had to inform them
"I thought you were informed I never meant to hide it from you." Dumbledore said before explaining everything
Molly was horror stricken
Arthur was just about the same.
"And Harry?" Arthur asked
"He's safe." Dumbledore said
"Yeah now but I meant them he didn't…your not saying…" he said
Albus nodded
"Oh how horrible." Molly said
Devon looked at her "I think he did quite well. I think he should be honored." Devon said
"But…he fought…" Molly said
"Yes and unfortunately I believe he will have to fight him many more times. But I know that Harry will be ready… we will make sure of it." Albus said
Molly shook his head "oh poor child." She said as she wiped her eyes.
Devon looked at Dumbledore who nodded
"Unfortunately there is more. And depending on how you look at it. It's perhaps happier." He said
"Depending on how you look at it?" Arthur asked
"Your aware of the tale of beetle and the bard right?" Albus asked
"Yeah Ron loves those stories it's only gotten more sense his first year of Hogwarts." Arthur said
Devon smiled "it's believed that Harry and Ginny have a soul bond."
Arthur and Molly gasped
"R-really?" Molly asked
Devon nodded "it's why I gave up my chair this morning." Devon said
Arthur looked at devon "a bit drastic don't you think?" He asked
Devon shook his head "no actually. Before they came down I noticed Harry and Ginny were about to kiss." He said
The adults's eyes shot up in shock
"So quickly!" Molly gasped
"You said about to?" Arthur asked
Devon nodded sadly
"Percy had come down the stairs and dragged Harry away before they made contact.
Molly gasped
Arthur shut his eyes
Dumbledore looked forlorn.
"I see…" he said
Molly and Arthur looked to each other "we'll have to have a word with our sons." Molly said
Arthur nodded
"I've already informed Ron he's accepted it." Devon said
Arthur and Molly nodded
Dumbledore spoke. "As much as I trust Devon I want to be sure. So id like to hire an Aura reader to scan Harry and Ginny." Albus said
"Ok but that's expensive." Arthur said
"We've heard Bill is an aura reader. So we were thinking next summer you'll head to Egypt with bill and he will check." He said
"But that will require Harry to out of the country? What about the wards?" Arthur asked
"Harry will be safe as I will be joining with him." Devon said
"But that's…" Arthur said
Devon spoke "I will pay for Harry and myself to travel. Dumbledore, Harry will need his international Passport." Devon said
Dumbledore nodded "I will file all the paperwork needed for him before the end of the school year." He said
Devon nodded and looked to The Weasley's were also thinking of upgrading the burrow. In case we are right that Harry and Ginny are soul bonded. Ginny will be targeted as well."
Dumbledore raised his hand "I will pay for it." He said
Devon looked to Dumbledore. "Also Harry spoke to me about what happened about his discharge. Apparently A house elf entered his home and did magic to get Harry in trouble." He said
Dumbledore nodded "well thank you for this I'll modify the wards to rebuff house elves. Thank you for finding this oversight."
Devon smiled
Dumbledore stood up "well I don't think there is anything else I need to do." He said
Devon nodded "see you in a month Professor Dumbledore."
Albus smiled "you to Devon." He said as he flooed away
Devon shook his head "something is off about that guy…" Devon said
He looked out the window to see Harry flying around and Ginny right on his tail
Molly just looked out
"Is that Ginny?" She asked
"Looks like, damn that girl can fly." Devon said
Molly stood up
"She's going out there to yell at Ginny isn't she." Devon said
"Probably…" Arthur said
"After we just got through the conversation about the soul bond and happiness is important for Ginny and Harry." Devon said
"…shit…" Arthur said
"Yep let's go be men." Devon said as he stood up and rushed after Molly.
They reached the backyard and found the scene completely different than how they envisioned it.
Molly was hugging the cooing Ginny screaming "oh I'm so proud of you!"
Harry smiled "complete natural." He said
Ron rolled his eyes "says the one born on a broom."
Devon smiled as did Arthur the day was good and happy.
The Weasley brothers were appalled at the performance of their young sister, and were asking them for play. Never again would they underestimate their sister,
After the quidditch game, the Family came back inside, as Percy had homework to do,
Ironically because Harry was stuck at the Dursley's so did he,
In fact everyone had homework save for Devon, so the rest of them went off to there respective rooms
Leaving Devon and Ginny to talk.
Ginny was in the sitting room reading a book while Molly made supper and Aruther was in the shed tinkering with his "muggle junk" as Molly called it
Devon sat on the couch which made Ginny bounce as she looked up and saw him she closed it.
"Hey…" she said
Devon looked over "oh sorry hey I didn't mean to interrupt you from your reading," he said
Ginny rolled her eyes "well it's kinda hard when someone walks in and moves you to keep reading." She said with a smile
Devon nodded "yea I guess so."
Ginny smiled she shifted to face towards him
"So I'm how did you meet Harry Potter?" She asked
"Ginny just Devon and Harry are fine," he said
Ginny blushed and looked down embarrassed
Devon smiled " you really like him don't you?" He asked
"Let me show you." Ginny said as they got up and went upstairs.
On the platform was a door labeled "Ginny's room do not enter,"
Ginny smiled and pulled a hairpin out and unlocked the door looking over to Devon " a deterrent against my brothers especially Fred and George." She said as she opened the door to her room and they stepped in
Devon looked around it looked like any other small bedroom in the burrow, but hers was covered in Harry Potter memorabilia,
Devon had to smile as he looked to see a Harry Potter troll doll having more of a pundgy face like Dudley mixed with a potato than that of the actual boy-who-lived.
"They actually sell those?" He asked holding the doll
Ginny snatched it out of his hand and threw it into the closet making a loud thump, like a stone hitting a wooden board,
Ginny froze stiff as her mother called
"Ginny what was that?"
"Nothing mom!" Ginny said
"Ok dear I just wanted to know your safe." Molly said cheerfully,
Devon giggled as Ginny turned on him
"Oh shut up," she hissed
"Can't it too funny," Devon said
Ginny punched him in the shoulder
"Ow! Ruddy good arm you have!" Devon said
Ginny shrugged "had to fend off my brothers somehow, especially Fred and George, they use to prank me like mad until I gave them a bruse." She said
"Do they do it often?" Devon asked
Ginny shook her head "not any more thankfully but you need to watch out for there pranks still."
"Pranks Fred and George?" Devon asked
Ginny smiled
"We'll you've been to hogwarts two extra years, Fred and George have said so, do you remember the time that the bathrooms on the 5th floor had Toilet paper replaced with, sandpaper?" She asked
Devon rolled his eyes,
"My ass never felt so gritty." Devon said making Ginny giggle
"That was them. And they didn't get caught with that one," Ginny said
Devon nodded "noted." So tell me Ginny, are you excited to learn magic?" He asked
Ginny nodded "oh yea. Very much, I just can't wait we are going to Diagon Ally this week," she said
Devon nodded
"Would you like to?" He asked
Ginny looked around
"I…I thought that was tonight?" She asked
Devon nodded "it is, but something tells me you need it more, and it can be helpful later."
Ginny smiled and hopped on the bed, excited before she froze
"Wait…but…I don't have a wand." Ginny said
Devon smiled
"That's the thing though, the magick I'll teach you doesn't require it."
Ginny gasped "banned Pagan magick for real?" She asked
Devon nodded, "not only that but once you learn how to do it, you can modify any spell you learn in the future to be done as Pagan magick making it untraceable." Devon said
Ginny smiled "how do we start?" She asked excitedly
"Sit down." He said
Ginny sat down excitedly,
Devon smiled at her attentiveness but he had to steel her,
"Calm yourself, deep breath." He said
Ginny closed her eyes and took a deep breath,
Devon noticed it was too fast and flicked her in the forehead
"Ow hey!" She gasped as she grabbed her head,
"You we're doing it too fast, you were running through the actions but not doing the actions, again deep breath," he said
Ginny huffed before she closed her eyes and took a breath in
Devon talked her through the action.
"While your doing this, feel the air enter your body, feel it mixing in your lungs, and feel it pass out of your nose, and a part of your own soul mixing with the air, feel it radiating out and dissipate into the air, feel the presence of me, another force, into your sacred space, even if invited I'm foreign, I'm not welcome." Devon said
Ginny took another deep breath, her face scrunched up in concentration,
"Relax…you can't force this out, it has to be a mutual event," Devon said
Ginny froze and suddenly her face relaxed and she let out the air, and took another deeper breath,
"Feel the air, feel the power in this room, feel the world around you the urge to get in touch with it." He said
Devon noticed Ginny looking around.
"You can open your eyes now." He said
Ginny opened them and slumped down defeated
Devon placed a hand on her shoulder
"Hey now did that feel?" He asked
She shook her head "no different. I just…I don't think I'm cut out for this." She said
Devon stood up, and looked around her room
Ginny looked up at him as Devon noticed she was crying.
Devon gave her a kind smile
"You're fine. Trust me. Even if you can't feel it I'd still like it if you came with us tonight." He said
Ginny looked up "your…your sure?" She asked
Devon nodded "very." He stood up. "It's almost time for dinner you better get ready," he said
Ginny nodded and stood up
Devon smiled "please remember don't tell your parents about this, this is banned for a reason, but it's not because it's dangerous, know that Ginny," Devon said
Ginny nodded as Devon left
He took a final glance on the ground of her room to a Harry Potter, children's book which Ginny knocked down when she was meditating.
The girl would be a powerful person in the future, and might possibly change the history of Britain to finally end the outlawing of Pagan Practices in Great Britain.
Devon stepped out from the room and headed down.
And unseen by him Percy watched from his room, his door open, watching Ginny's room.
That night. Devon was out in the grove, as he waited for Harry Ron and Ginny to appear.
Harry and Ron had snuck down and were waiting for Ginny,
Or Harry was waiting for Ginny, Ron was waiting for Harry.
Harry sighed "come on let's go, we can wait for her outside." He said
Ron nodded
Ginny snuck down a few minutes later not making a single sound, as she walked by the door she accidentally stepped on Scabbers making the rat cringe, but not make a single sound as it scurried away,
Ginny made her way to the door and was about to push it open.
"And where do you think you're going?" A voice said from the sitting room.
Ginny froze she turned around to look
And Saw Her mother and her father sitting in the room,
Arthur was sitting in the chair facing away from the door, newspaper in hand
"I umm. I wanted to go out to see the stars it's a clear night." She said
"No, you wanted to see Devon." Molly said
"And talk to a friend yes." Ginny said looking guilty.
"More like learning pagan magick." Arthur said as he closed the paper, as he stood up and looked at her,
"Do you know how dangerous that is?" He asked
Ginny looked at him.
And noticed Percy was in the corner trying to hide in the shadows.
Ginny looked Vivid but focused on her father, "Percy needs to learn to but out of other peoples business." She said
"I'm trying to help you." Percy said standing up as Molly grabbed his arms and Arthur turned around to glare at him,
He looked at Ginny
"Do you know how dangerous such magick is, why it's illegal?" He asked
"It's not dangerous." Ginny said
"Yes it is! Listen to us Ginny we're trying to help you." Percy said
"No your trying to control her," a fourth voice said
Everyone looked up and saw Devon at the door,
"Ginny go meet your brother and Harry by the grove." He said
Ginny looked to her farther and noticed that in the shadow of the night he was smiling and gave her a wink. Ginny looked over to her mother and noticed she too nodded,
Ginny ran out the door,
Percy was the only one who sighed
"You shouldn't have given in mother," Percy said
Arthur turned around.
"This choice was decided before you came to tell us of her deciding to sneak out," he said
" You're allowing her to become a criminal?" Percy asked
"Not everything in the world is black and white Percy, please understand that we love all of our family ." Arthur said
Percy stood up. "Yea enough to not say no to any bad actions they take." He said as he walked away,
Molly and Arthur sighed
"I'm sorry," Devon said
Molly looked up
"You have nothing to worry about dear." She said
Arthur nodded "Percy will come around soon."
Suddenly there was a loud bang as Percy slammed the door shut,
Arthur winced
Devon bowed
"I promise I will keep your children safe." He said
Molly smiled "we know you will dear."
"It's why we allowed this, even at the risk of my job." Arthur said.
Devon nodded
Devon walked Ginny, Harry and Ron to the grove,
The three of them gasped as they entered the grove and found it filled with fireflies.
"Oh wow…" Harry gasped
Devon smiled
"Fireflies like this may be a muggle insect, but no that makes them no less magick." He said as he reached out his hand and a firefly landed in his palm and the light began to flicker pulse,
Devon smiled, and looked up
"Would you like to try?" He asked
Everyone smiled.
" Devon came up to them, and places a hand on their shoulders. "Relax and take a deep breath."
They did so and felt the magick flow through them. And noticed that the birds above landed on there hands.
The three of them smiled as they looked at each other. In wonder.
"Now do you remember what I've told you about what's the most important thing about Real magick?" Devon asked
Everyone nodded
Devon smiled "very well let's run through the steps." He said
Ginny looked nervous something that Harry noticed and grabbed her hand. "You'll do great." Giving her a gentle squeeze.
The three of them closed there eyes and took a deep breath into mediation.
Suddenly the wind around the grove picked up to the point it was a full torrent.
Devon smiled
"Keep going through the steps but I want you to open your eyes." Devon said
The first to slowly open there eyes was Ron who was looking around in awe as the sheer force of the wind
The next was Harry who was also in awe. And there was something else. He felt calm.
He looked over and relized he was still holding Ginny's hand.
He tried to let go but he realized. He couldn't
He didn't want to.
Devon smiled
"Ginny you can open your eyes too."
Ginny reluctantly opened her eyes thinking that she would see nothing change and be proven correct that she was unfit for pagan magick
She gasped
All around here was a torrent of wind circling the group. Tossing leaves and branches around like a tornado.
Ginny looked at the others
"Are you doing this?" She asked
Ron shook his head
Harry did so too.
Ginny looked at Devon who just smiled
"This is all you Ginny. And while Harry and Ron are powerful in their own right. You are by far the most powerful of the group so far. You are a Bieber natural at this type of magick.
And while you will be formidable with other forms of magick. It won't be as much as this but you will be powerful." Devon said
Ginny smiled and looked at Harry and gasped
"H-Harry?" Ginny asked as she raised her hand as Harry did the same.
"A-are you seeing what I'm Seeing?" Ginny asked
"A golden thread holding our hands together?" Harry asked
"Y-yea…" Ginny said
Devon looked at Ron who looked in wide eyes
"I…I never want to leave you…" Harry said
"I know, I…I love you." Ginny said
Harry nodded dumbly "yeah…yeah I know…"
Ginny came closer. "I…I know I had a chugs on you before. More akin to hero worship but this…this is different." Ginny said
Harry nodded "I'm not much of a hero anyways." He said
"Oh yes you are." Ginny said as she laid her head on his shoulder
"Um guys?" Ron said as He tried to call them to make them aware of the fact they had started to glow.
Devon stopped him "hush Ron there making up for lost time."
Ron clamped down on his argument right after that.
Harry leaned his head back "oh shut up and kiss me." He said
Ginny smiled "I'd thought you'd never ask." She said as they two lips connected
And a bright flash as bright as the sun erupted between the two for as long as they held lips interlocked
"BLOODY HELL!" Ron yelled
"We need a pair of shaders if this is going to be a frequent occurrence." Devon said
Finally the light died down and the two fell away exhausted. As they laid in the ground
Devon stood over them and sighed
"Oh why are you always so difficult to care for Harry?" He asked himself
"Ron I need to you to tell your parents that Harry and Ginny have just completed their soul-bond. There out like a light and I'm pretty sure they need to stay in close contact while the bond is finalized in there sleep I'll keep them out here where I can watch them." Devon said
Ron nodded "does that mean we won't need to see Bill anymore?" He asked
Devon shook his head "no infact I think it's even more important as I want to know exactly how extensive the bond goes." He said
Ron nodded and headed into the burrow
Devon conjured a sheet of blankets for the young couple for now and allowed them to sleep
There would be a lot of explaining to do in the morning that was for sure.
