Episode 5: The Avatar's Wrath

Chapter 2: There Are No Aliens In Ba Sing Se

"People may die, nations may rise and fall, but ideas will live on."

-Words of wisdom from a certain US President

On the last chapter of this grimdark Clone Wars knock-off, where dozens of sci-fi and fantasy universes have been thrown into the meat grinder, Jedi Master Mace Windu arrived on Kaurava, the planet where Avatar: The Last Airbender takes place, bringing a handful of diplomats with him to the Earth Kingdom's capital, as well as a few clone troopers in case anyone in Ba Sing Se attacks the party out of xenophobia.

His primary objective appears to be establishing a diplomatic alliance between this feudal world and the United Galactic Republic, which is a massive, bloated empire of its own, (consisting of tens of millions of star systems,) just barely able to keep its democracy functional and ethical without devolving into authoritarianism.

But you'd be foolish to believe that the Jedi in this era are all about being peaceful, cooperative and honest. Exceptions have been made before. What will Master Windu do if the natives stubbornly resist?

"I don't like the way they're looking and pointing at us," a clone trooper said to the stoic Jedi, taking note of the locals, who were either awestruck, fearful or curious as to where these foreigners came from. They had seen the dropship descend from orbit in a ball of fire, a sight they didn't quite know how to comprehend, the impact of advanced technology eons ahead of anything on their planet.

Mace Windu merely shook his head. "Just ignore them, the real problem will be getting an audience with the Avatar."

As they progressed deeper into the city, the diplomats were met with increasing amounts of visible distrust, to the point where people began to actively avoid them.

"Now it looks like they're scared of us," the Twi'lek marshal called Cham Syndulla remarked.

"They have reason to be," Rodian Senator Onaconda Farr mentioned.

"Quit your yapping," Mace Windu told both of his colleagues. "See those stairs? We're almost there, so save your chit-chat for the Avatar and his followers."

At the Earth Monarch's Palace, in the center of the city:

The Republic's representatives stood before the most important building in Ba Sing Se, the palace that served as the personal residence of the current Earth King, Kuei, as well as a temporary place for Avatar Aang and company to stay overnight as important guests. There were important discussions between historic figures about the future of the world currently underway.

Little did these people know, their future was soon to be crushed under the boot of colonial troops from outer space.

"So this is where the local monarch resides," Syndulla said, while admiring the architecture.

"Looks like he's compensating for something, judging by the size and colors," uttered Senator Farr, who couldn't help but chuckle a little.

Windu strolled up to the single spear-carrying soldier guarding the front door of the palace, who did his job predictably, but immediately freaked out when he saw the aliens and clone troopers standing next to the dark-skinned human from deep space.

"Halt!," the guard shouted. "This is a private and restricted area! ...Wait a minute, who are those two hideous THINGS escorting you? And are those six things really men made of iron?"

In response, Windu utilized a signature Jedi gimmick so his entourage could get inside without complications.

"Actually, this isn't a private and restricted area."

"This isn't a private and restricted area."

"You will let us go about our business."

"You can go about your business."

"And you will apologize for being so rude and calling my friends things."

"I'm sorry for labeling your friends."

The guard let the intruders through without a second thought. Following this, the clones were left in awe, wondering what kind of Force power Master Windu had used to hypnotize the gatekeeper.

"How'd you do that?," another trooper asked.

"It's pretty simple, a Jedi mind trick. Any Force user can learn it easily, but there's a catch: You can only hypnotize people into forgetting their most recent actions or into performing relatively simple tasks."

Later, inside the palace's dining room:

Avatar Aang and his companions were exchanging views on how the Four Nations' governments should be run, how their leaders should be held accountable for their actions, and what to do when Aang finally died and the next Avatar arrived. Meanwhile, the Earth Monarch, Kuei, was busy taking a nap, because he had already discussed matters with his guests.

The chivalrous team included the Last Airbender himself, as well as Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko, Suki, and their noble steed Appa of course.

Their conversation for the past few minutes:

Sokka: Like I said before, our main intention should be to make sure something like the Hundred Year War never happens again.

Suki: What about preparing for the next Avatar's reincarnation, though? That's the tricky part, since Aang could possibly die in battle one day... and we don't know when that'll happen. After all, there are still remnants of the Fire Nation's imperial army hidden across the world, planning to rise up. We mustn't falter in our vigilance.

Aang: You don't have to worry, Suki, I can handle a bunch of terrorists quite easily by now!

Katara: Well, if you DID die earlier than expected, people would need to search the entirety of the North and South poles looking for the new Avatar, because they will be born into the Water Tribes.

Aang: Come on, give me some credit! I'm not dying anytime soon.

Zuko: In that case, our priority should be preventing another imperialist faction from gaining traction. I have faith in Aang's combat ability, and he's the Avatar, so you don't have to lose your cool thinking he'll fall.

Toph: Wait a second, I feel footsteps! Someone else is in the palace!

Katara: An assassin?

Suki: I'm on guard!

It was then that Mace Windu and his band of ambassadors came out of the shadows and made themselves visible to the Gaang.

"Who are these creepy looking strangers?," Sokka said loudly.

"They look like they came from another planet!," Katara added.

"Indeed, we hail from other worlds out there," Senator Onaconda Farr mentioned, taking note of what Katara said.

"What do you want?" Aang asked. "We haven't ever seen aliens before, and you can't just barge into this palace without getting an invitation first."

"Yes, tell us!," insisted Toph. "You're from beyond the stars, so tell us why you came here, and what your intentions are! This is a moment that changes everything for our world."

Mace Windu took everything being said into consideration. Then he gave Team Avatar a question that would go down in history:

"Would you like to become part of something bigger and more significant than your petty squabbles, such as our Galactic Republic?"
