The hunt for Peter pettiagrew was on everyone's mind well almost everyone
Albus Dumbledore was a good reader of people something that helped him a lot when he wasn't blinded by emotion's it's how he knew to trust Newt Scamander even before he had a talk with Grindelwald
This however was starting to fall by the wayside as he was getting more and more focused on Harry Potter especially when every minute detail of his plan to prepare Harry was crumbling away.
First Sirius black was now free and he hated him for keeping Him locked away.
Then Remus Lupin also hated him for betraying his friend trust and keeping him locked away, something he legitimately forgot about the Potter will. He wanted to have Lupin be Harry's parental figure away from the Dursleys but unable to actually care for him as they would be so alike and Lupin would drive loyalty to Dumbledore into the boy.
However Devon had cut him off and freed black by going to Amelia bones directly. Bypassing Fudge and getting him pardoned for a trial then giving him a job in the ministry to look for Peter. The one thing that went somewhat right.
As for Fudge he was humiliated at being wrong and Dumbledore was starting to hate how much of a bad turn he was doing fortunately he wasn't doing much trouble and was just a minor nusance. For now.
Still the man insisted the Dementor's be on site was troubling. And he had to find a way for them off the grounds, less more students be in danger.
He needed a way to clean up his mess less Harry be too far gone.
It didn't help that Harry was now in a soul bond with Ginny Weasley. He had to be really careful with how he tread.
Speaking of Harry he returned from Hogsmead with Sirius in tow and saw a very angry Devon as they exited the passage. Waiting tapping his foot
"You snuck into Hogsmead didn't you?" He asked
Sirius stepped up
"He tried to. I cut him off but in the process Peter, who Harry was actually chasing, escaped. I brought him to Hogsmead under my protection to tell me about the confrontation." Sirius said
Devon sighed "Alright fine. I'll accept it as you are his godfather and I have no argument with family." Devon said
Sirius nodded "also I plan on taking Harry away from the Dursley's and into Grimmauld place." He said
Devon nodded ok If you would like I will come with you but I won't bother you." Devon said
Sirius waved him off "nonsense you protected the cub when I couldn't, it would be very nice to have you. a nearby friend for Harry plus the house is a bit big for two of us." Sirius said
Devon smiled "very well I'll sell the home I have on Privet drive and I'll move in with you." He said
Sirius shook his head "I have no doubt Albus is going to try something to keep Harry there so it's best if you keep it just in case. If you need help with a payment let me know.
Also Harry let me tell you now I've moved you into my will as my heir. My sister Narsissa tried to put your friend Draco as heir but now with me out I can choose." Sirius said
Harry nodded "so I'll be the head of two noble houses? How does that work?" Harry asked
"We will get to blood relations in a bit when your back at home but service to say it changes nothing as your grandmother was a black. Normally it would mean you took a surname of Black because it's a more respectable family but Potter has become legendary now so it doesn't matter." Sirius said
Harry nodded
Devon cuffed Harry "very soon you'll be able to see Hogsmead alone I promise." Devon said
Harry shook his head "it isn't worth it unless Ginny can come." He said suddenly blushing with his implication of a date.
Sirius laughs as Devon smiles.
"You will do great. Look, I got to go. You take care and have a good classes tomorrow." Sirius said
Harry and Devon arrived at the gryffindor common room and went to bed next week was the quidditch game between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw and Harry had ancient runes class with Hermione and Devon. Didn't Hermione also have divination with Ron?
Harry would have to ask tomorrow.
The next day Harry woke up and went to classes and talked about ancient runes and specifically a subject he wanted to avoid taking by going to this one Divination.
"Now class understand today we are talking about a different subject today as it portrays into runes. And that's the subject of Divination." Professor Bathsheda said
The class moaned
She waved her hands "I know I know if you wanted to study divination you'd take a course on it. However this is important as it portrayed to the fact of how we view runes today." She said
"Now from the reading can anyone tell me about what runes were used for in the ancient world?" She asked
She looked a kid who answered
"Map cartography."
She nodded and looked to someone else.
"A basic written language." Hermione said
"No that would come when settlers who had a written language visited but I can see how you could get confused." The teacher said devon raised his hand
"Yes Mr Oakland go ahead
"Runes. Or carving stones, were a way of seeing the Divine favor and interpreting Divine messages there were many ways of getting this answer either by individual pullings or scatter tossing. As well as others that have been lost to time." Devon said
The teacher nodded "yes however I'd like to add your methods of scrying runes are more of a modern construct and we have no idea exactly how the ancient world dealt with runes."
Devon nodded
"This is also something I want you to think about. The Study of Ancient Runes and in fact Ancient Cultures as a whole is something not very many talk about. Which is a shame as we don't know what types of magic has been lost. There is only a select group I can name with the pretension to seek out these lost types of magick's a very selective group that is far more obscure and some say downright illegal." The teacher said
Hermione raised her hand
"Yes Ms Granger?"
"What exactly is the group called?"
The teacher frowned
"The group is one that has such a long history and is probably the last ones to follow the sacred rites of the pagan past…They are the Druids." She said
Devon took a deep breath as the teacher spoke more about divination to the rest of the class.
Once class was over Devon packed his stuff with Hermione and Harry but stayed back
"You two go on ahead I need to ask the teacher something."
Harry and Hermione nodded and left as Devon walked back in
Devon shut the door which got the teachers attention
"Hello Mr. Oakland, is there anything I can help you with?"
Devon nodded "yes Professor. During the class today you brought up the Druids but the way you phrased it almost made it seem like-."
"That I was one?" She finished
Devon nodded "or at least knew a great deal more than average." He said
She nodded "well I suppose I do but not because I am one. But my family's past is notable of them." She said
"You had a history of Druids with your family? What happened?" Devon asked
The teacher shrugged "I don't know one day we left and we never went back sometime around my great great grandfather." She said
Devon nodded
"I hope I did it Justice for you." She said
Devon nodded "oh yes very well it's just how accurate is what got me." He said
"I have been trying to rejoin the order but it's very hard to find or even get an audience with them." She said
"It is very hard to rejoin after a member has left. The amount of inquiry is massive. You need a list of a family tree going as far back to your great great grandfather who left. And we need to make sure as to the reason he left was in fact justifiable. Then we need to see if he or any of his kin spread the secrets of the Druids while not in the order. If you fail any one of these your entire family is excluded from returning to be a Druid. Your family the next of kin. As well as any families you marry into. The only way around it is if you unknowingly marry a Druid without realizing it then and only then are you the individual able to take the test to become a Druid." Devon said
The teacher was shocked
"My gods that way work more than I expected." She said
Devon nodded "the Druids take their work and secrets very seriously. Although I see you've got the first step down."
"What resenting the old Christian god for the Older polytheistic gods?" She asked
Devon held his hand up "the Druids don't hold any culture. Or religion in disdain but it's the acceptance of multiple gods and thus the understanding of all different kinds of magick from many different cultures to be inter graded as one." Devon said
The teacher nodded "that…that's deep." She said
Devon nodded "the Druids hold the study of magick so highly as it's a way to understand the universe. Much like the wizarding "muggle's" and science. However what they don't understand is magick and science is in fact the same thing. Which is why muggles can use pagan spells but not Wizarding ones." Devon said
" my gods." She said
Devon nodded "I know… if you excuse me I need to go." He said as he summoned his staff
"Mr Oakland!" The professor said
"Perhaps you should find a way to be able to teach the history of magick or of the Druids I'm sure it would be very interesting." She said
Devon shrugged "I'm sure it would but that loops back around to being as secret as they are so it's quiet impossible. Well it will be until the ministry and the rest of the wizarding body decides to unban its practice." Devon said as he walked away.
Harry and the others were having an amazing Defense against the Dark arts class practicing dueling on each other with the Disarming charm as Remus smiles at them.
"Ok class that's enough of a review. Now onto new stuff." He said
Instantly everyone looked at him excited
"Today we're having a guest speaker here to discuss different types of magick around the world. You may recognize him but I'll give the floor to him." Remus said
Suddenly Devon walked forward.
"Well you have a way of getting onto the show quickly. Hello everyone again." Devon said
Everyone laughed
"Well I didn't expect to be teaching you guys again but I'll try my best. Now your professor wants me to go into the different types of magick and it's properties and how to defend against it which I admit is important. Quiet so you never know when you will be shot with a spell" Devon said as he stabbed his staff into the ground and a blast of light shot at Harry
Harry summoned a shield to deflect it a spell they went over last week.
"And that students is how I will know you are paying attention." No sleeping here like in Binns. If I catch you dazing off or talking to others." Devon said as he looked in back to see Draco talking to Crabbe and Goyle
Devon jabbed his staff and sent a Druid spell at Malfoy making him fall to the ground clutching his face
"You'll get a jinx like that sent as you. Don't worry I'll make this exciting, that's why we're standing and not sitting."
"Now question. What types of magick practiced today?" Devon asked
"Umm divination?" Someone asked
"No, that's a category of magick I'm asking about type." Devon said
No answer…
"I'll give you a hint Goblin Runes…" he said
Hermione raised her hand as did Harry
"Hermione then Harry give me one each." Devon said
"Goblin." Hermione said
"Good." Devon said looking to Harry
"House elf." Harry said
"But specific and could be generalized into Elven but I'll allow it next." Devon said
"Centaur." A Slytheryn kid said
"Very good." Devon nodded
"Dryad." Someone said
"More generalized as Nature magick but yes."
"Vampire magick?" Someone asked
Devon turned "no!" That'd what I was trying to get at. There is a different between Magickal creatures and beasts. And while beasts are known to use magick they use a dark corrupted version of magic where as Elves and humans use their own. Some people very powerful people can use dark magick but many of them are separated by species." Devon said
Someone raised there hand and Devon looked "yes?" He asked
"Are you saying that dark wizards are more powerful than standard wizards?" Someone asked
"Important distinction no. Can someone tell me the difference between the two?"
Hermione raised her hand as did Harry
Devon sighed "anyone else?" He asked
No one
"Ok Hermione we heard from you before let's go with Harry. what's the difference?
"Natural dark magick or dark magick contained by a beast is a still magick by design and intent and thus can be healed by magickal means where as dark magick by Humans are corrupted and more evil with intent not because the beast is corrupting it. Which is why dark magic spells from dark wizards are unable to be healed but a cut from like a basilisk fang if done fast enough can be healed." Harry said
"Exactly!" Devon said
"Now as I said these are magick's most popular today. However there is a selection of magick that isn't as popular today that is just as powerful. Or is even more powerful. In fact there are hundreds or thousands of ancient magicks lost to time. The more powerful the more universal it is seen." Devon said
"What do you mean more universal?" A student asked
"Tell me what does everyone know of the 1890's goblin revolt?
No one said anything and just looked at each other
Devon shook his head " crazy Binns. Alright look. The during the 1890's a mysterious magick was discovered around Hogwarts that almost looked to be connected to the school. It was then figured out that a 5th year was also known to be able to harness this power as well as a The leader of the Goblins." Devon said
Everyone gasped
"Now everyone understands how powerful this type of magic is, I'm going to name one more which is so powerful it's illegal to use. Before we go into how to guard against these types of magick's. That type is so powerful non magickal people can use it and if done enough can make them and there descendants magickal." Devon said which made everyone gasp
"This is the pagan magick of old and it by far the most powerful. While magickal creatures and nature have there own adaptations of it. The pagan magick is it's original unfiltered form. It's so powerful it's what the earth and other celestial bodies use in the sky. It's the magick of gods. And the universe we live in raw. Uncontrollable. And pure." He said
Now fortunately it's very very rare to wander into someone who practices the last form. So your safe there. However, if you do befriend them immediately. As for the others, wizards have made a lot of spells to counter different creatures and beasts. Many of them fit nicely into the shield charm. And it's easy for the wizard to change the charm for different things all you need to do is think of what the type of magick your blocking against and cast." Devon said as he sent a spell at Ron.
Ron blocked perfectly however what he didn't expect was the spell to pass through the shield and tangle him up in tree vines.
"Failing to think of the correct type of magick will cause the shield to fail like Ron. Now I apologize for jumping you like that Mr Weasley."
However Ron was good "it's all good I should have expected something like that." He said
Devon nodded "then I assume you can get yourself down?"
Ron nodded as Devon turned to address the class.
Ron thumped to the ground landing on his feet a few moments later.
"Now As you've probably guessed the reason why I'm able to cast such natural magick. Without being one of nature myself. Yes I am pagan and this have access to the ancestors to all magick which will come in quiet handy today as I can give you an advanced lesson on the shield charm. If professor Lupin doesn't mind?" Devon asked
Professor Lupin bowed "go ahead."
Devon smiled
"Excellent! Before we start and have Everyone line up I'm going to tell you key ways to determine which type of magick is being sent as you for you to block it."
"Yes Ron question?" Devon asked
"Couldn't you just identify the creature that attacked you?"
Devon nodded "in most cases yes. However there are sometimes as mentioned before when a powerful wizard or witch can use other magick's I specifically practice in pagan. Which gives me a lot of ability to dip into other styles. I also know Elvish. As well as centaurian magick before getting into my Nature magick ability." Devon said he turned to the class
"Now professor Lupin I'm going to ask you to do a demonstration. I'm going to cast a spell from my want and I want you to cast the disarming charm. I want you class to look at the two streams."
Lupin nodded as the spells flew
They collided in the middle and fizzled out. Before exploding into a rainbow of colors into the air
"Now besides the spectacular light show we got at the end can someone tell me what they saw?" Devon asked
Hermione and another girl raised there hand
Devon pointed to the other girl.
"Professor lupine was sleek white while your was a dark green with extra tendrils." She said
"Very good, take 5 points. That there is something how you can identify as a spell and which type of magick is used to power it. That I used was nature magick. The disarming spell happens to be quiet a powerful piece of magick and in fact is more closer to pagan magick as it can and I quote can stop nearly anything, that spell can be an amazing asset to you so don't under appreciate it." Devon said
Sadly Devon looked among the class and recognized several students doubted him. He rolled his eyes if they didn't listen it will be there problem in the future.
"Now you saw the tendrils that's a key visual of nature magick if I had hit Professor Lupin he would be tangled up as Ron was. Next I'll show you Centaurian magick.
Devon flicked his staff out again and a burst of spiral fire flew out which collided with the shield charm.
"Now the spiral was used for demonstration real combat magick using that style will cut the spiral down to a flat line which can really trick wizards or witches up. Which is why the ministry has tried to cut down contact with magickal creatures. They don't want to admit there's other types of magick people can learn and only want them to follow there strict guidelines." Devon said
The class awwwd but Devon cut them off "the last type of magick I will show is House elf magick which is a directive of Elven magick. However seeing as there has not been contact with the Elves for a while it's believed they have gone extinct therefore I'm only showing you the house elf version." Devon said
Again the spells hit and this time they noticed it wasn't a trail of solid spell just a trail of Sparks instead.
"House elf magick is a powerful thing as nothing besides the modified Shield charm or A pagan protection circle can block it the former being very hard to learn, the later taking too long to cast unless prepared before-hand." Devon said
"And that's the types of magick that I will show you now line up." He said
Hermione raised her hand
"What about goblin magick?" She asked
Devon turned.
"No…goblins are very protective of there magick. So much do you need to take an unbreakable vow or another rite of secrecy not to reveal any goblin magick before you can start training it. The last time someone tried a goblin revolt broke out. However it is the most powerful magick there is In Terms of raw combat power." Devon said
"Can you guard against it?" A student asked
"It's possible however it's the same as House elf magick. It's very hard to do because of those reasons." Devon asked
"Can you teach us to cast a protection circle?" Another asked
Devon shook his head "no because the ministry forbade the teaching of pagan magick long ago when it was founded. And they have been actively hunting practitioners sense." Devon said
"Now line up let's do the activity!" Devon said
The activity was a simple line up, Devon would cast a spell in either House elf. Centaur or nature and you had to try and block it.
By the end of the class everyone could comfortably protect against House elf, Centaur and nature magick.
The next few days Harry and the quidditch team played against Ravenclaw
It was clear sky's and bright and the game was tense. But just as Harry was about to win the game. The Ravenclaw seeker screamed.
As everyone looked up to see 3 dementors in the stands.
Harry reacted instantly and pulled off a spectacular patronus which the three dementors where knocked down to reveal Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle and Marcus Flint
Harry looked over to see Cho who scowled at being tricked Harry smiled
"It's fine Draco is a jerk to everyone." Harry said
Cho smiled and the two flew off to start the hunt for the snitch again.
Devon looked to see McGonagall walking towards the stands and docked 50 points from them.
Harry later catches the snitch winning the game and Cho comes up to him saying it was a good match and there is a solid reason he's nicknamed "the unbeatable Seeker."
Harry shugged "I'm sorry I don't think it was as fare swing as I have a faster broom." He said
However Cho shook her head "no just because it's faster doesn't mean you have better control. The fact you can push the broom to speeds and still control it gives major credit to you." She said
Harry throught about it and agreed.
"Yeah ok you got me there. We should do a seeker race sometime." He said
"Seeker race?" Cho asked as the two lowered to the pitch.
"Yeah have us start at one corner of the pitch and race around the edge of it as fast as you can first to get five laps win. It's more of the skill of the rider than the broom." Harry said
Cho shrugged "yeah that seems fare if we have a universal broom." She said
"We can do two one with universal brooms and one with the riders preferred brooms." Harry said
"Skill of rider vs how use to there quirks to the broom." Cho said
Harry nodded yeah," he said as he landed on the ground
Ginny threw herself at him with a hug
"That was amazing Harry!" She said
"Aw thanks love! If only Malfoy didn't get in the way I'd have liked a more fare game." Harry said
"I'm talking about both Harry the patronus as well as the catch." Ginny said as she looked at Cho
"Not that you weren't a good player too." She said so she didn't feel insulted
Cho shook her head "no it's ok I understand I bow to the better player. Harry I have to say that is a really good idea. I'll talk to Cedric about it and we can talk about our teachers about it." Cho said as she walked away to join the team
"What was that about?" Ginny asked
Harry patted her shoulder "later love let me go shower I'm pretty sure there's a party in the common room." Harry said
Indeed there was as Harry stayed sober with Ginny was the rest of the common room partied including Hermione and Ron although Hermione had barely drunk her butterbeere.
Suddenly there was McGonigall in the common room
"What exactly is going on here?" She asked
Everyone froze.
"A party with underaged students?! I'd expected better, where is the head boy and the prefects?" She asked
Harry stepped up
"The headboy and prefects have taken the first years to bed. Many of the second years followed only several second years are down here and we are keeping a god eye on them." Harry said
McGonigall looked around and noticed that many of the second years were with Harry who was far away from the butterbeere.
McGonagall sighed "very well I'll overlook this so long as I am not awoken again otherwise anyone who is here when I enter the common room is losing 50 points each! And the common room should be spotless!" She said as she walked out.
Everyone shrugged and got back to partying.
Harry finally went to bed.
In the night there was a scream and Harry jolted up and raised his wand to see Ron standing up panting
"Ron? what happened?"
"Peter!" Ron gasped
"What?" Harry asked
"Peter Pettigrew standing over me with a knife!"
"Ugh can't it just be a dream?" Samius asked
"No you daft look!" Ron said holding the torn curtain
"Aw man." Neville said
"What is it?" Harry asked
"My list of passwords are gone." He said
McGonigall screamed
"What?! Why would you do that?!" She asked
"I keep forgetting what the password is for the month." He said
McGonigall shook her head "it's probably how Peter got in you risked your entire house because you couldn't remember the password's." She ranted
"Actually he didn't." A voice said behind her and Sirius Black held the list.
"I found Neville had dropped the List when he ran off to go to class in a hurry. So I picked it up to make sure it wasn't found." He said
McGonigall nodded "you are very lucky about that Mr. Longbottom." She storms away.
Harry hands Sirius the map which he nods and heads off.
Harry sat down as did the others in the door.
"I wonder why Peter went for my bed." Ron asked
"I don't know mate." Harry said
Neville sighed "I'm sorry." He said
Harry shook his head "no it wasn't your fault." He said
"The question is how did Peter find a way into the gryffindor tower." Ron said
"We may never know." Harry said
The next day there was an announcement that Peter attacked the Gryffindor tower but fortunately no one was hurt.
The next weeks went by and Harry and gryffindor was going against Slytheryn.
The game was quick and Gryffindor won easily making Gryffindor the Quidditch champion for the year Sirius and Lupin cheered.
Off to the side Snape scowls at the two marauders. He storms off of the Quidditch stands planning something
He stands over his cauldron making Lupins Wolfsbane potion and sighed he couldn't sabotage the potion because that would endanger the student's but he needed a way to make the two of them pay.
Severus got it… a dastardly plan which will ensure Lupin would be kicked from the school and also humiliate Black to a point where he would no longer be able to take in young Potter.
Yes he would get his revenge for what the four did to him all those years ago.
The next weeks the end of the year exams were ramping up as everyone was doing review on what they learned.
All but DADA which was going over new stuff which everyone loved.
By the end of the finals harry relaxed relieved that he had at least a bit of a normal year which Devon praised himself in. Now all he had to do was to make sure that Harry didn't die or that Peter could escape and revive Voldemort.
On the last night after the quiz Harry was heading back to his common room. He had an amazing year he had learned so much from Professor Lupin. He hoped he would stick around and be there next year.
Harry felt the air shift behind him in a slimy git way. Harry stopped
"I know your there Malfoy don't try it." Harry said
The feeling didn't go away
"If I turn around and your still there. There will be consequences." Harry said as he turned around
The hall was empty
Harry drew his wand and looked around carefully for any disillusionment charms.
"Afraid Potter?" a voice said behind him he turned around to see Malfoy before him before he could respond he was knocked out.
Harry was dragged to the dungeon and as he was waking up he heard Malfoy speaking
"So godfather we've brought Potter as you asked."
"Did you need to knock him out?" A drawl of Snapes voice asked
"Well…we was Resisting." Malfoy stuttered
Snape hummed "doubt it…but no matter." Snape pulled out his wand and sent a spell at Harry which knocked him out again
Draco looked at Professor Snape in awe.
"You used a muggle technique. Good in practice but is unreliable in terms of When you want your victim to wake up." He said
"What should I do now, Godfather?" Draco asked
"Nothing. Your part is done if anyone asks you say you saw Potter walking the halls back to his dorm and he turned the corner and that's when you lost sight of him. I will handle the rest." Snape said as he looked in Harry's pocket and found the invisibility cloak there. He smiled.
"Draco leave me."
Draco nodded "yes godfather Come on boys." He said
Snape smiled wickedly as he drapped the cloak over Harry's body and lifted him up magicily.
Snape strode down the hall heading for the entrance.
In the common room Devon was waiting for Harry to arrive so he could talk to him about things they could do now that term is over.
He expected Harry to be back in a few minutes. Hermione and Ron were off doing. Something. And Ginny was. Well Ginny was reading a book.
Devon slumped
"Ugh, what is taking Harry so long?" Devon asked
"I believe he was taking the long way today to think about the question you gave him last meeting."
"What about which type of magick he wanted to perfect first?" Devon asked
Ginny nodded "yes he's questioning whether or not he should go for elven magick which is connected to several other branches of magick. Or go straight to the source and go for pagan." Ginny said
Devon sighed "of course he would chose two of the hardest ones to research. Look can you tell him to come to the common room quickly so we can discuss why he chose those and the pitfalls of them?" Devon asked
Ginny nodded and closed the book and shut her eyes.
Devon watched as her calm demeanor turned sour and worried then freaked out. Then she jumped up in panic.
"What is it what's wrong?" Devon asked
"It's Harry." Ginny said as Ron and Hermione came back in
"What do you mean it's Harry, what's wrong?" Hermione asked
"Did he hurt you?" Ron asked ready to brawl with his best mate for hurting his sister.
Ginny looked up "he's not responding to me…he never does that." She said
"Have you tried?" Hermione asked
"That's the first thing I tried Hermione he's not answering!" Ginny cried clearly freaking out.
Devon latched onto her to calm her down.
"It's ok it's ok." He said as he turned to the two
"Ron, search around the castle and see if you can't find Harry." Devon said
Ron left as Hermione knelt next to Devon and Ginny who started into weep into her hands.
"Is this?" She asked
"It's mild comparatively but yes…this is the effect of a severed soul-bond either by mistake or malicious intent Harry has severed the soul bond." Devon said
"Could it have been Harry? I don't suspect he would do this." Hermione said
Devon shook his head "no I don't either which means it's something worse. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if Harry was off dozing someplace and didn't know. Or…" Devon said he stood up
"Excuse me." He said as he walked off to Harry's room
He grabbed the Marauders map and laid it down in the common room.
"I solemnly swear I'm up to no good." Devon said as the map opened and Devon scanned for Harry Potter
"He's not in the castle." Hermione gasped
"Which means he's been taken." Devon said
"Taken?!" Ginny cried histerically.
Devon grabbed her comforted and cradling her
"It's ok Ginny we'll get him back."
Ginny growled at Devon
"You better god damn do it fast mister." She hissed
"Ginny!" Hermione gasped appalled
Devon held his hand out to stop Hermione. "It's fine Hermione it's the bond she has no control over it."
Ginny went back to crying in her hands as Ron came back
"I can't find Harry anywhere." Ron said
Devon nodded "I know we found from the map Harry has been taken from the castle. Hermione and I are going to gather a few teachers and start a search for him without picking too much of a fuss. However I dare not leave Ginny unattended. If her situation deteriorates she might be a danger to the castle." Devon said
"How do!" Hermione asked
"Imagine a muggle bomb mixed with an Obscureos and you know a hint of what kinda danger we're talking about."
Hermione pailed
Devon looked Ron.
"What I need you to do is stay with your sister and keep her mind off Harry. Keep her happy. Play games with her, read her a story. Talk to her, keep her mind off the situation."
Ron nodded he looked to Ginny
"Um Devon is that supposed to happen?
Devon looked back to see black specks flying off her back
"The obscurious is reaching out for its other half Ginny is about to get a lot more dangerous Ron take Ginny to madam pomphry remember what I told you." Devon said
Ron nodded as he took Ginny and whispered into her ear which made the obscurus die down Ron was able to help Ginny up and out of the common room.
Devon and Hermione nodded and stood up now we need to find Harry." She said
"Well teacher and adult first. And I know just the ones." Devon said as they ran out.
They reached the defense against the dark arts classroom right as Sirius black was entering.
"Ah Ms Granger I must say your cat Crookshanks has been a major help with the hunt for Peter Pettigrew." He said
"Not now, Padfoot we have an issue that requires you and Moony." Devon said
Sirius looked at Devon shocked but devon continued.
"Harry is missing and Ginny is freaking out." Devon said
Sirius huffed "fuck and the worst day too." He said as He entered and walked up the stairs to the office behind the classroom and banged on the door
"Mooney open up Harry is missing!" He said
Remus cracks the door open where he looked tired and sore and in so much pain.
" leave!" He said
Sirius shook his head "I can't look Mooney, Prongslet is missing." He said
Lupin shut his eyes in pain. "I…Padfoot I'm about to…" Lupin said
"Oh shut up the moon isn't for another hour." Sirius said
Lupin sighed and nodded "Alright…I guess that…well…prongs is important." He said
Sirius nodded as Lupin opened the door, his face looking more rugged than usual.
"Alright let's go." He said
Devon nodded "we've already established Harry is not in the castle." Devon said
"And Albus would have said something if a student had left the premises." Lupin said
"Which means he's most likely in Hogsmead." Devon said
Sirius shook his head "I knew we should have expanded the map into Hogsmead." Sirius said
"We can do it later Padfoot we need to find prongslet first." Lupin said
Sirius nodded
"But how are we going to search the village it's far too large." Devon asked
"We can go to the shreaking shack that has a good vantage point." Sirius said
"But the shack is haunted isn't it?" Hermione asked
Sirius sighed
"We don't have time to get into that just follow us and we'll keep you safe." He said as they ran down the hall.
Ron had gotten Ginny to the hospital wing and Madam Pompey was briefed upon the situation. Who went off to floo Dumbledore.
Dumbledore came right away pale "where is Ms Weasley?" He asked
"She's here and safe." Ron said
"It seems the specks have gone away." The midi-witch said
And let's hope they don't return. Ronald I know your worried about-."
Ron cut him off by looking up and clamping on Ginny's ears "hearing the name makes her panic sir." He said
Dumbledore nodded "of course Unfortunately we have no actual medical care we can give however we can protect this place and you in case the worse we're to happen." He said
"If the worst we're to happen we both know what that means sir. I'm sorry but I'm not going to live in a world like that."
"Mr Weasley!" Madam Pompey said
"We cannot force him to chose in this situation when the balance is so delicate. Just work on keeping her calm and the rest of us will work on finding…him.
Ron nodded
"Sir one final thing…we've discovered by some arbitrary means that they…are not in the castle and we are investigating Hogsmead to see."
"My word not in the castle but why would mr pot-."
"If you are sure you have checked the full castle then I guess we can raise this up from a case of wondering off to a case of kidnapping." Albus said
Ginny started to thrash around in the bed worried
"I'll get her a calming draught." The midi-witch said
"Bring several for later, I'm sure this won't be the last time." Ron said
Madam Pompey looked at Albus who nodded as the witch ran off.
"We will look for the missing student with utmost vigor." The headmaster said as he turned away to the floo "headmasters office." He said as he disappeared into Green flame.
Ron sat there watching Ginny as he held her "don't worry we'll get him back." He said
In the headmaster's office, Albus Dumbledore looked at all of the many nick nacks and magical objects used to monitor Harry Potter. He was getting frustrated so he pulled up a map of the school not as enchanted as the marauders but enough to see everyone.
He poured a bit of blood he had in a small vial of Harry's blood onto the page
"Point me to Harry Potter!" He said pointing to the blood with his wand.
The blood raced across the paper and stopped at the sign of Hogsmead.
Albus sighed he's still in Hogsmead. But where.
"Show me ge exact location of Harry Potter."
The blood didn't move.
Albus tried again
Nothing
Albus panted it was clear that an anti location charm must I've been placed on Harry…
But why? There were very few people with that kinda skill and all of them have interest in keeping Harry alive.
All except… Peter Pettigrew
And if Peter is the one to actually betrayed the potters he might bring Harry to Voldemort to give him as a gift for good grace.
He couldn't let that happen. No Harry wasn't ready yet sure Devon helped but he's still not ready. One more year under Devon's training might be enough but not enough to where Dumbledore was comfortable.
Albus stood up he needed to go to Hogsmead. He went over to the floo to get ready to travel
Suddenly Minerva arrived. "Albus we have an emergency. There's panic at the owlery. Talwarney is screaming the end of the world. And I can't get in contact with Lupin or Aroura Black." She said
Albus paused 'Lupin and Black made sense because of their connections to Harry. And no doubt Devon is with them…he'd have to hope that they would be enough. To save Harry from Peter.'
"Where is Severus?" Albus asked
"I don't know I cannot find him I don't know if he's even in the castle." Minerva said
Albus Dumbledore froze 'not in the castle…oh dear lord how could he be so stupid.'
Minerva turned around
"Headmaster are you ok?" She asked as Dumbledore looked pale and seemed to be trying to reach out for a support
"N-no Minerva I-I don't think I will be ok for a very long while. I fear I might have made a major mistake that might have cost us the life of a student…or even more. The fate of the wizarding world itself…" Albus said as he just sat on the ground stunned and frozen in horror.
"Headmaster! Albus!" Minerva snapped but Albus was basically catatonic she huffed and strode off I'll get a calming Draught for the headmaster then I will solve this problem myself." She hissed as she transformed into a cat and ran down the hall.
With Devon, Black, Lupin and Hermione. They ran outside and down across the courtyard when Hermione caused them to stop
"Wait!" She gasped
Sirius turned around upset that Hermione was stoping them
"What?!" He gasped
"We…we can't go on. That's the whomping willow it'll kill us before we get any closer." She said
Sirius rolled his eyes "oh for gods sake silly girl CROOKSHANKS KNOT!" Sirius snapped
Suddenly out from the side a dash of orange sped towards the tree
Hermione gasped as she recognized her Cat
"Crookshanks nooo!" She screamed
The whopping willow reeled it's trunk back and started to thrash at the cat but Crookshanks dodged and was able to tap the knot freezing the tree in place.
"The willow was planted when Remus and I were in school it's a passageway to the Shrieking shack where Remus would be able to transform safely. Come on let's go." Sirius said as he and Lupin started to head towards the tree. Hermione and Devon were shocked and followed.
Harry woke up dazed and in a run down shack he could barely see he looked around and saw his glasses nearby he put them on and saw he was inside the shrieking shack. He looked around and saw his wand nearby
He lunged for it not wanting to be without it
Only for a foot to land on his hand making Harry scream in pain.
"Oh now now Harry. No need for violence now."
Harry looked up to see the face of Peter Pettigrew looking down on him
Harry was too focused on the pain to stop Peter from grabbing his wand. And taking it away
Once Harry was no threat Peter stepped off of his hand as Harry cradled his hand.
"What did you do?! How did I get here?"
"Oh Harry please I had no part of you arriving to me although I'm very very happy for it." Peter said as he strode forward.
"Stay away I'm not going to let you kill me!" He said
In his mind Ginny's voice rang comfort but he couldn't listen to that right now.
Peter got in Harry's face.
"Oh Harry, Harry, Harry I'm not going to kill you. I need you after all. I need you to bring to the dark lord so I can prove my loyalty."
"You did betray my parents!" Harry Snapped
"No your parents betrayed me! They got caught up in that stupid war of theres they were supposed to stay with me! To protect me! But then you came along and no more pitter patter for poor old Peter." Peter threw Harry down on the ground
"YOU HAD NO RIGHT TO BE BORN!" Peter roared
In his mind he heard a scream of "DON'T LISTEN TO HIM LOVE PUNCH THAT FAT RAT IN THE FACE!"
Suddenly another voice was heard
"No Peter you had no right to be our friend!" The voice said behind them
Harry looked as Peter turned around to see Sirius, Lupin, Devon, and Hermione. By the door
"Sirius!" Harry grinned happy to see his godfather
Devon strode forward "are you alright Harry?"
Harry nodded as he stood up and rolled his shoulders "much better now that I can kick his ass."
Peter turned around just in time for Harry to Sock him in the eye.
Hermione winced as Peter fell to the ground.
Harry stood over him and bent down and retrieved his wand.
"He disarmed me when I arrived." He said
Devon nodded "good form but your shoulders were a bit tense." He said
Harry nodded as Sirius hugged Harry
"Oh I'm so glad you're safe!"
"I know. I'm sorry to worry you all. I just I don't know how I got here." Harry said
Sirius pulled away
"We can figure that out later right now let's get out of here." He said
Lupin went over with Sirius to bind up Peter while Devon, and Hermione hung by Harry
"Are you ok?" Devon asked
"Yeah we heard what Peter said from downstairs. We're here if you want to talk to us."
Harry nodded closing his eyes and nodding for a second while Hermione rubbed his back.
Sirius and Lupin were able to pick Peter up. When Snape appeared in the room.
"Ahh look at what I found here? Not only verified proof that you're working with Peter. But also your willing to endanger students to make sure of it and pose you off as the hero." Snape said
Hermione stepped forward about to yell "that's not-."
Devon cut her off
"Save it. He's fueled by hate. He won't see reason." Devon said
"But how did he get here?" Harry asked
Devon looked and noticed a scrap of the invisibility cloak blocking a part of his leg.
"He was always here." Devon said
Harry reacted instantly.
"Expelliarmus!"
Lupin and Sirius looked up as Snape slammed into the wall dropping the cloak
"The cloak?" Sirius asked
"I think Snape brought him down here hoping Peter would take him." Devon said
Sirius growled
"You've gone too far now Snivelius."
Sirius was about to lunge but Lupin grabbed him dropping Peter.
"No!" He said as he held him back
"Let go Mooney! He threatened Prongslet!" He snapped
"Yes but let us remember who started it first." Lupin said
Sirius looked at Mooney and pulled his arm away.
He strode forward and looked at the Professor. Who was awake as black stuck his wand at Snapes chin
"Let it be known…that I am the better man. We might not like each other. We might not see each other in the same eyes. But we are trying our best ok?"
Snape slapped the wand out of his face.
"I won't forgive you. But I won't antagonize you." He said
"And me!" Harry said stepping forward
Snape glared at Harry as Sirius sighed "look he's not James…" Sirius said
Snape took a deep breath but nodded.
"Very well." He said
Harry nodded as Sirius turned around
"Let's get Peter back to the castle so we can put him under arrest." Black said
Snape nodded as Black and Lupin lifted Peter up. And they started to head back up and out to the castle.
When they get out of the whomping willow Snape looks around
"It's getting colder here." He said
Harry looks up to see a horde of Dementor flying towards them
"Expecto Patronum!" Harry yelled but for the first time it failed
Hermione and Devon were schocked
"W-what's wrong?" Devon asked
"I I don't know." Harry panted
Snap grabs him "your magicly exhausted Run!" He yelled as he pushed the three away
"Get to the castle!" Snape yelled as he cast a patronus but not full power but a shield to cover Black. And Lupin even if it sent Snape to his knees
"Help me!" He hissed as he looked over to see Lupin hunched over
"Shit!" Snape hissed as he reached into his robe and grabbed a bottle of Wolfsbane potion he was ment to give Lupin.
Snape looked up as Lupin charged at Snape
Only for a black dog to blindside the werewolf and throw him to the ground
Snape didn't hesitate and ran out of the sight of the werewolf. He paused
"Pettigrew."
He looked around to see Peter awake stunned by his old friends fighting the looked back to see Harry Devon Hermione and Snape he waved as he transformed into a rat and ran
Harry stepped closer but Hermione and snape grabbed onto each of his arms as Peter fled under the Dementor's not able to see him because of his rat form.
Harry looked over to the dog fighting the werewolf.
"They're going after Sirius!" He yelled at he pulled away before the others could stop him.
Fortunately Lupin was able to free himself from black albeit by biting him and Lupin ran off.
"Devon Snape, go make sure the students are safe." Harry said
"What are you going to do?" Hermione asked
Harry looked back and smiled
"No!" She gasped as Harry ran off
"Oh that stupid boy!" Hermione said as Snape pulled them away "we got to go cut off Lupin." Snape said
The three nodded "you better be safe." Hermione said as she ran off
In Harry's mind Ginny screamed at him
'Harry what the fuck are you doing?!'
'I can't leave my godfather to die Ginny you know that.' Harry argued
'Harry that's a lot of Dementor's we were barely able to stop one!' Ginny said
"I have to try love I can't…I can't lose him." He said out loud
'Harry I know the Dursley's are bad but we can find a way to get you out of there Harry…HARRY!' Ginny screamed as Harry ran faster
In the hospital room Madam Pompey and Ron were holding a shield charm around Ginny while she was belting her throat out an obscurus like partials flying around her.
"I don't know how you know this spell but I'm glad you do." The midi witch said
Ron growled "is there a way to get my sister back to normal?" He asked
Ginny turned towards Ron
"I am normal RONALD BILIUS WEASLEY!" Ginny roared as she sent a more concentrated effort towards Ron's shield which collapsed nearly seconds later as Ginny strode off the bed. She looked at madam pomfrey.
"I'm getting my husband back before he hurts himself. Don't worry… I'll bring him in for you to treat." Ginny said as she jumped through the glass of the hospital room just as Albus and Minerva arrived
"What happened?!" She asked
Albus looked over the situation and paled as he turned on Minerva "lockdown the school Minerva and have the heads of houses guard the common rooms no one is to get in or out, Madam Pompey get a bed ready for Mr. Weasley." Minerva once the students are safe then you can look into the other issues." Albus said
"Where are you going?" Minerva asked
Suddenly the door to the Hospital wing opened and Devon and Hermione appeared
"Oh hello." Albus said
Suddenly Devon and Hermione looked to each other in a panic. Before they ran on Snape right on there heels he shut the door and slid several beds in front of it to barricade
"What was that about?" Minerva asked
"Not now, women, there's a werewolf we need to stop!" Snape hissed as he drew his wand pointing at the door
"Werewolf surely there isn't!" McGonigall said when suddenly a loud crunch on the door as three large claw marks were cut into the door and sitting on the other side was a werewolf.
Hermione and Devon looked around
"Where is Ginny?" Devon asked when he noticed Dumbledore on the open hole of the Hospital wing.
"Ms Potter is gone, probably after her husband!" Dumbledore said over the wind.
Devon rolled his eyes
"Stupid girl!" Devon hissed
"No she's smart, her bond is telling her Harry is in a life threatening situation something I allowed to fester. But not something I can allow to stand by with." He said
"I'm afraid I'm going for a walk. I won't be back before midnight. Minerva make sure the kids are in bed by then.
"Severus I'm afraid we're going to have a talk when I come back, where is Lupin?" He asked
Suddenly a crunch is heard by the door as Dumbledore looks to Snape and sees an unused Wolfsbane potion
"I see…take care my boy and be safe!" Albus said as he jumped off
Devon ran to the window
As Albus was seen flying off on Fawkes towards the forbidden forest.
Devon turned to see the door break in half as Lupin climb on the beds walking into the hospital room.
"Devon." Snape said
"How long does it take to cast a greater Protection circle?" Snape asked trying not to move.
"For a werewolf if I had all the meterials I can do in a minute." Devon asked
"And what materials do you need?" McGonigall asked
"Devon looked around
"First a field of wooded spikes that will give us more time. As for the circle; chalk or rope. As well as a nugget of silver, Wolfsbane and a bit of salt?"
"Does the wolfsbane have to be dry?" Snape asked
"No but the silver has to be at least a gram?"
"Can that be liquified?" Snape asked
"Yes why-." Devon said as he looked up and saw Snape holding a wolfsbane potion up
Devon looked shocked
As Snape turned back around to face Lupin as Snape raised a shield.
Minerva transfigured several beds into spike traps around Lupin as he looked around for a way out.
Minerva also conjuncture a small pile of salt which devon scattered around in a perfect circle with a solid kick
"To define the border now give me the potion." Devon said
Snape did go as Devon uncorked it
"Now once I start this. The werewolf is going to go crazy feral I need you to hold it down while I cast the circle around it." Devon said
"Wait around the werewolf why not us?" Madam Pompey asked
"Because then nothing is stopping it from leaving and attacking the other students." Devon said
Madam Pompey was startled but nodded.
Minerva transfigured a set of sheets into a cord of rope big enough for the room
"Oh good the more times I loop it around the stronger it will be with less magick I need to fuel it." Devon said
Hermione looked up "Devon he's almost out of the trap."
"Standard shield charms should stall him long enough for me to finish the spell." Devon said
Snape strode forward "you do what you need to do Mr. Oakland."
"Thank you professor I'll be sure to do it as quickly as possible." Devon said as he took out the wolfsbane from the potion and started to tear apart the leaves.
In the forbidden forest Harry ran after Sirius and found himself in a clearing of the forest with hundred of Dementor's he raised his wand
"Expecto patronum!" Harry yelled
The light was bright but died down almost instantly as the Dementor's started to round on him he tried again
"H-Harry…leave me!" Sirius said completely crippled by the Dementor's
Harry snarled these monsters were going rouge and attacking a ministry employee. Just because he was in azkaban before.
"Expecto patronum!" Harry tried again.
His patronus drove off one dementor but another flew in and knocked the wind out of him sending him to his knees.
"Harry!" Sirius said
Then there was a crash as a tree fell down making everyone look up and Ginny stood off to the side resonating darkness
"Get…away…from my…husband." Ginny hissed
The Dementor's screeched as several broke off to charge at Ginny and others flew around Black and Harry to keep up there feast.
Ginny waved her hand and the partials around her formed a barrier keeping the Dementor's at bay.
"I said! Keep away from my husband!" Ginny roared as she sent the Dementor's flying
Suddenly a pure blue Pheonix flew over
"Ms potter while your soul bond powers are good enough to drive a Dementor off, it's still your soul vulnerable to having your soul sucked out using the patronus charm; it's safer!" Albus said
Ginny nodded and conjured a patronus which ran across the water and stood between Harry and Sirius.
Harry looked up and felt the love wash over him.
"Mom?" He asked derrirrus.
Ginny stepped over "no love… my, husband… it's me." Ginny said
"Ginny!" Harry gasped and smiled
Suddenly there was a screech as more dementors flew by and started to chip away at her patronus. As it's light began to fade.
"Hurry get out of there I'm too far away to reach you right now head back to the school!" Dumbledore yelled as his patronus faded
Harry and Ginny looked at each other and we're crippled as Ginny's patronus failed Harry reached out to her as she did to him.
And the instant they brushed hands and the moment they knew each other was safe the bond activated. As Harry and Ginny's wands rose up and they casted together the patronus charm.
"Expecto." Harry said in a loving voice washed in calm
"Patronum." Ginny said in the same manner
And out from the wand came the others Patronus Ginny a stag and Harry's a horse so bright they looked to be made of pure silver not radiating light but made in it.
The Dementor's roared as they were forced away by not one but two of the most powerful Patronus's ever seen in history.
Once away the patronus looked to the humans and as the castered blacked out they felt themselves being lifted up
Albus Dumbledore was in awe he could see the bright light from the air above the Forbidden forest like a second sun. But what caused it?
Suddenly he looked down trying to find a place to land when he saw a Stag and horse made of silver running back towards the school with three people two men and a girl.
Albus was shocked we're they made from silver or light? No…
Albus looked to fawkes "it looks as it we just meet them at the school instead of chasing after them." He said
And suddenly they disappeared in flame.
Dumbledore flamed to the steps of the school right as the silver Patronus's broke out of the forbidden forest.
"Follow me." He said as he opened the school
In the hospital wing Devon had casted the spell and Lupin was in the Circle trying to claw his way out.
Just as Dumbledore entered and dropped Harry, Ginny and Black on a bed
"How did it go?" Albus asked
Devon looked over to Lupin who was curled up in a fetal position.
"Will it hold?" Albus asked
Devon nodded
He sighed "then madam Pompey please take care of your three patients. I suppose a liberal amount of chocolate is in order once they are up."
Albus worked his finger at Snape who left with Dumbledore as McGonigall also left to figure out what happened in the owlery.
The next day Harry woke up his arms around Ginny who was laying on his chest she opened her eyes the exact same time as he did
He brushed her hair as they both streached
"Oh good you're awake?" A voice said
Ginny and Harry looked over to see Ron on the bed next to them "I didn't know if you would be the same when you woke up." He said
Ginny nodded
"Professor Lupin transformation back into a human after 5 hours ago and is in his room resting. And well Sirius is…"
Suddenly the door to the hospital wing opened
"What do you mean he escaped?!" Fudge asked
"Because I was focused on saving the students I was unable to prevent Peter from escaping but he's no longer at Hogwarts or Hogsmead." Sirius said
"I don't care about where he's not I need to know where he is and I want him in a cell! Find him follow him! You are not getting a day of rest until you do!" Fudge said as he slammed the door shut.
Sirius cursed "fuck!" He hissed
"Does that mean?" Harry asked
Sirius nodded
"Unfortunately however Devon is still nearby. And I will try to track Peter down as fast as I can to make sure you can get out of there as soon as possible." He said
Harry nodded as he tried to sit up but Ginny held him down
"What about Ginny?" Harry asked
"That is up to little Spitfire there." Sirius said
"And mum." Ginny said as she touched Harry's cheek
"I'll try to visit as much as I can but I want to spend a few days home as well." She said
Harry nodded
"Of course love." He said as he gave her a kiss on the lips.
Sirius smiled. "Now then Ms Granger wishes to see you. As well as everyone else." He said as he left
Eventually they were let out of the hospital wing and everyone was talking to them about what happened.
Harry and Ginny were getting kinda sick of it fortunately one time when they were walking down the hall Snape came to them.
"Why why if it isn't Mr potter basking in his celebrity status. Unfortunately your "followers" can't be around you all the time and I know several of them are ment to be in class at this time." Snape said
This had the effect of scattering the students leaving Harry and Ginny alone with Snape
Snape sighed dropping his usually manner "good were alone please follow me." He said
Harry and Ginny looked at each other and followed going into Professor Snapes office he shut the door.
"I must apologize for my behavior I've had on you for the past three years. I was bigoted and I let my past overwhelm me. And doing so put you in danger." He said
"If you will forgive me I'd happy to "bury the hatchet so to say." Snape said
Harry looked at Ginny then nodded
"I can find this acceptable." He said
Snape nodded "now I can't act like this civil all the time I have to keep up appearances so to speak but when we are alone I will be more civil." He said
"I see the talk with Dumbledore did well." Ginny said
"He was just ironing the point home about my bigotry and hypocritical points of view." He said
Harry nodded
"Now unfortunately last nights events had the effect of ousting Professor Lupin as a werewolf. And the ministry is insisting he resigned however Dumbledore was able to argue with the minister to keep him on for the rest of the year. He's unfortunately not going to be in class today because of said events however I am not going to be the substitute. I believe Mr. Oakland is. You better get off to classes you two and i will most likely see you at the end of the year feast." Snape said
Harry and Ginny nodded and left.
The incident at the owley was resolved apparently Peter had attacked hegwig trying to injure her he hurt her wing but didn't kill her and she would heal by the end of the summer.
the end of the year feast was normal as Griffindor won the quidditch cup this year. And the house cup.
On the train ride home. Harry got a letter from Sirius black. About an update on Peter and a new owl for Ron. And the letter ends in an apology for not being able to have Harry home but with Peter overseas he had to leave.
Harry and the others leave the train and Devon sees the Dusleys we're not there. As he teleports Harry to his house.
