The Brothers
Weeks have passed since Natsu was found by Crepus, and the dragon slayer was doing well despite his conditions. And speaking about his conditions, it's gotten a lot better since the Crepus found him laying on the road bloodied. He would regularly take his medications three times a day and rest, he would sleep till morning once he was done eating his dinner, and would every once in a while, he would reminisce about the past, about his friends, family, and… home.
Oh, how he missed them. How he misses his guild, how he misses, Gray, Gajeel, and Elfman fighting all the time, how Erza would break them up with her fist and death glare, how he would help Lucy with her rent, how he would fish with Happy, how he misses going shopping for ingredients with the Straus sisters, and so on.
'Was this what Lisanna felt when she was in Edolas?' Natsu thought while frowning. The feeling of being alone with people you don't know in a place you have no clue, it was frustrating to him.
He sighs as he closed the book he was reading and puts it to the side. Yes, THE Natsu Dragneel would sometimes ask if he could borrow and read to pass his time. It gets dull when you lay all day in bed. Speaking about the book he was reading; it was the history of Mondstadt. Of how old Mondstadt was ruled over by a god called Decarabian and was overthrown by another called Barbatos.
None of those made any sense to Natsu as it was foreign to him, and even if he had heard those names, it would have been clearly put in a history book as this was a part of the history of an old civilization. Heck, even Levy would be ecstatic about learning about it.
His thoughts came to a stop as Crepus walks in the room with two boys. The first boy had long light red hair tied to a high ponytail, red eyes, he was wearing a white shirt black pants and suspenders, black leather shoes. No doubt those are high quality. The second boy on the other hand had navy blue hair, his bangs covering his left eye, in contrast to the other boy, dark skin tone, and was wearing the same clothing as the other boy.
"Ah, I see you're still awake Natsu," Crepus said while smiling at him.
"Yes, thank you for checking up on me Lord Ragnvindr." Natsu thanked him.
"Please don't call me that, I was never fond of titles anyway." The master of the estate waved his hand in a dismissive manner. "And by the way, I would like to introduce you to my sons." He said as he nudged them at the back.
"Ah, my name is Diluc Ragnvindr, it is a pleasure to meet you Mr. Natsu Dragneel." The boy now identifies as Diluc bowed slightly while still keeping eye contact.
"And my name is Kaeya Alberich, it's also a pleasure to meet you," Kaeya said, copying his brother.
Natsu didn't know why but he had a feeling that he would get along with these two.
"The pleasure is all mine Lord Diluc and Lord Kaeya." He said bowing to them as well.
Kaeya then noticed his guild mark on Natsu's right shoulder and asked him a question. "Excuse me Mr. Natsu, but what is that on your right shoulder." He said pointing at his shoulder.
Natsu then looked at where he was pointing. "Ah, this was my guild mark. I was part of a guild called Fairy Tail and joined when I was about seven years old." He said smiling warmly while caressing his guild mark smoothly.
"Fairy Tail, why is it called that, do Fairies even have tail?" This time Diluc asked.
Natsu gave a small chuckle. "Well, whether fairies have tails or not, or whether they even exist, nobody knows for sure. So, it's like an eternal mystery, an eternal adventure." He said to the young red-haired boy. It was a fond memory for him that day, if he hadn't encountered Master Makarov in that forest, he wouldn't have met those amazing people to call friends… to call family.
"Wow! So, if you were in a guild that means you must have more stories to tell right?" Diluc asks in hope.
"I agree with Diluc, surely you must have more for to tell," Kaeya said while placing his hands on the pocket of his pants.
Natsu began chuckling as it erupted into a full-blown laugh. The father and the boys were taken aback. For Crepus it was shocking. Shock because this was the first time, he had seen the boy laugh. While the boys looked in confusion. 'Was it something they said?' they thought.
"Alright, alright. But please sit down. Because I have a lot to tell." Natsu said.
Natsu began when his story. He told them about his first day at Fairy Tail, how he picked a fight with another kid named Gray, and how they were stopped by Erza with her steeled gloves, and so on. Both boys listened to him attentively and stared at him with amazement.
The father smiled warmly at the three. 'It's like they are actual siblings' he thought.
The night then went on with laughter and nostalgia. Both boys then began to feel a bit sleepy. Crepus noticed then stood up from his chair, "Alright Kaeya, Diluc it's time for bed." The father said to both of his sleepy sons.
"But father, Mr. Natsu had more stories to tell!" Diluc argued while fighting the urge to yawn.
"I agree with Diluc Lord Ragnvindr, surely the night is still young," Kaeya said while struggling to keep his eyes open.
"Ok, first of all, Kaeya it's father to you, and second it's 10 P.M which is way past your bedtime. Now come along, Natsu still needs to get his rest." Crepus said sternly.
The boys sighed and followed their father's order. But before they left the room both boys looked at Natsu, "You'll still tell more stories tomorrow right, Mr. Natsu?" Diluc asks and was replied with a smile and a nod from the Dragon Slayer. And with that both boys then went to their rooms to rest leaving Natsu and Crepus alone in the room.
"Thank you, Natsu." Crepus thanked him.
"For what Lord Ragnvindr?" Natsu asks
"I thought I told you not to call me that." The master of the estate sighs irritably, causing Natsu to chuckle. "But seriously speaking, thank you Natsu. This is the first time I have ever seen Diluc and Kaeya this happy. It's like you're the big brother they never had."
"Ah, don't mention it. This isn't the first time I experienced being called a big brother." Natsu said while thinking of Wendy and Romeo.
"Oh, you have siblings as well?" He asks while raising a brow and smirking.
"Sort of, I do have a friend that I consider as a little sister, due to the same circumstances we had."
Natsu explained. It's true that Natsu did treat Wendy like a sibling, due to them thinking that they were abandoned by their respected dragons, and seeing her sad that day made his heartache, as he was reminded of Igneel abandoning him. After that day, he made a promise to himself that he would be a good brother to her.
"Ah, I see," Crepus said nodding. 'No wonder why he was a natural, he was experienced in being a sibling, but perhaps I can use this to get him to open up. He smirked and began formulating a plan.
"Natsu, perhaps you can help me with something." He said to the dragon slayer.
The said person looked at him with confusion. What would the master of the estate want with someone like him. Natsu's shoulder stiffen and his body was now on guard. Whatever he was planning, Natsu just hopes it isn't something malicious.
"Tomorrow I'm going to be out on a business trip, I'll be leaving early in the morning and won't be coming back till the next day. Can you try and take care of the two for me?" Crepus requested.
Okay, that caught off Natsu's guard, why in the hell would Crepus want him to babysit the two; don't get him wrong, he would totally do it in a heartbeat, but why would the master of the manor trust a stranger to do it.
"I'll do it, but why would you want to let me babysit the two; after all, I am a stranger," Natsu asks in confusion.
The master of the house merely smiled and said, "It's because I know you are the type of person to never do anything bad, and judging by the way you're fond about your family, then I have nothing to worry about."
Natsu could only let out a sigh of frustration
"There is nothing stopping you is there?" He asked the master of the house.
"None at all." Crepus could only smirk in victory.
Sorry about not posting for months, I just lost my drive to write that's all. So anyways, Natsu is left with two rowdy children next chapter, and I want him to be back in action as much as possible. Now I don't want to spoil anything for what I have planned in the future, but some characters from the Fairy Tail universe will be making appearances such as Ultear and some of the demons such as Kyoka.
