Chapter 6: Another Surprising Return.
The Asteroid continued to make it's course towards the Fairy Tale World, with the aura of darkness surrounding it and under the command of the Ascian watching the events, to crash into either that or any other world to put an ultimate end to the Realm of Light.
Yet as the figure watched the Guardians and their allies continue to make their way, he noticed someone else at another cliff. He hummed in confusion before gritting his teeth at the sight of a man in red with a single black left wing.
"...Him. So he is here. Curse that follower of the Goddess!" The Ascian hissed angrily.
It seems the situation was going to go to the heroes' favor.
High on a cliff in a canyon as the Asteroid was falling much closer towards the Fairy Tale World, a figure in red stood with a black left wing on his back, speaking in a form of poetry. "Even if the morrow is barren of promises, Nothing shall forestall my return."
This figure who spoke is none other than Genesis, former 1st Class SOLDIER, who had recently woken up after nearly two years of another slumber when the Sailor Team had destroyed Ultimecia once and for all. In the last 24 hours, he sensed the danger and suspected that he must do something and that another moment he had been waiting for was finally here. Thus he had arrived with an unconscious familiar younger man in his arms and looked down upon the lower part of the canyon.
The man he was holding was the still comatose Zack Fair, who's heart was still sleeping inside Cloud's heart just like Ven's did with Sora. Genesis peered down and saw the familiar group of heroes and even former enemies along with new members he didn't recognize but knew that they were allies to Sailor Moon and her friends and family.
"Hmph. It would seem your awakening has arrived at last, Zack the Puppy." Genesis smirked, knowing what needs to be done.
Now was the matter of approaching the Guardians of Light and announce his return...without a battle for once.
With the skins still intact after escaping the crazy out of control storm within the forest, the Guardians of Light and their allies and friends made it to a canyon as early evening was creeping in while certain that they were fairly close to the Crash Site. While most of the group were taking a bit of a break and wondering how far they should go, Serena and Tseng stood behind Buck who was measuring just how much closer the Asteroid was getting with his fingers.
"Okay, Sailor Team. Let's stop here for the night." Buck announced.
"Stop?" Serena asked, incredulously as she and the Wutaiin Turk stared at the crazy weasel. "What about the Asteroid of Darkness colliding with the Fairy-Tale World thing?"
"Oh, the asteroid's still a day off. And like my grandfather used to say." Buck reassured, before he began mimicking his late grandfather. "Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Purple sky at night, who moved my foot cream? I need my foot cream!" He then returned to his usual self, saying nonchalantly. "Grampy was a confused and angry weasel."
Serena just sweat dropped at the short story, while Tseng sighed in slight unease. "I wonder..."
The Moon Princess then groaned. "And I thought Grandpa Lou was scary, especially when it came to checkers." Before whispering to her older friend. "If I ever get like that, please haunt me in my sleep."
The Turk Leader softly chuckled and surprisingly teased still in a manner of professionalism. "I'm afraid I already have that set goal with Reno when he gets old."
"I heard that!" Reno called out in a good few feet away, having heard the conversation, while Serena lowered her head with another groan.
Meanwhile, the rest of the group gathered around with Max, Amy, and Mickey doing a bit of research on how much closer did they have before impact, examining the map mode on the Gummiphone.
"Looks like we're not that far from the Crash Site anyway." Max remarked.
"Buck is right. It is getting late." Amy stated, knowing that night was almost here and they had nearly 48 hours of no sleep.
"And everybody's probably exhausted by now, so I think we should rest for a little while." Mickey agreed.
That was a huge relief for those who wanted to take a break after nearly two days of craziness since the Anniversary party and most of the Guardians all sighed tiredly. But as Cloud nodded in agreement, suddenly he felt an usual jolt within his chest and quickly placed a hand to his chest, which Tifa and the others noticed, and gazed at the spiky-haired young swordman in worry.
"Cloud? Are you okay?" Tifa asked, worriedly just as Serena, Tseng and Buck, who had also noticed, quickly approached in concern and confusion.
"I'm fine..." Cloud replied while trying not to sound wheezy, feeling the ache and unusual jolt fade, despite not knowing where that came from. It felt familiar somehow, but he couldn't figure out how or why. "It's nothing."
"Mm-hm..." Aerith hummed knowingly as she didn't buy it one bit. "Are you sure about that?"
"Come on, Flower-Girl. The Spiky-haired Twerp Even the Spiky-haired twerp's gotta take a break too." Meowth, not understanding what the problem was, pointed out.
Shira, still not used to having Team Rocket or the Turks and Rufus around, asked in annoyance. "Why do you keep calling everyone 'twerps'?"
"Team Rocket always calls everyone twerps, except their boss, friends and even Xehanort and Organization XIII." Diego answered instead in exasperation, earning a skeptical raised eyebrow from his wife.
"Some things never change." Misty muttered to herself, also exasperated. While she had admittedly missed Jessie, James and Meowth, she certainly did not miss the trio calling her and the others twerps.
The conversation was then broken when the stomachs of Ash, Sora, Serena, May, Mairin, Roxas, Lea, Ven, Kero, Jessie, James and Meowth growled loudly, causing the group to groan as one thing came into their minds...along with the feeling of hunger. Much to the knowledge and/or annoyance of their friends.
"Aw, man. I'm starving." Kero complained, holding his stomach.
"Boy, me too." Ash groaned.
"Me three..." Mairin agreed.
"Chespin..." Chespie murmured sadly.
"And we even had to skip breakfast today." Serena complained, realizing that they hadn't had anything to eat since last night and she remembered in having only one bite of the chocolate cake at the Party.
"We haven't eaten anything since last night during the party." May groaned.
Savanna hissed softly in sheer annoyance, glaring up at the sky. "No thanks to that stupid asteroid which ruined everything!"
Jake grumbled before falling onto his butt, whining loudly. "I didn't even have a single crumb of the chocolate cake and ice cream...!"
"C'mon, Jake. There's more to life than cake and ice cream." Simon sighed with a shrug.
Kaylie, seeing how her purple-haired friend was, sighed as she remarked about his childish but intelligent attitude. "Most of time for him, anyway..."
"Oh, stop it." Jessie groaned as the mention of eating was only increasing her own hunger as even she and the other Turks didn't even have dinner last night either.
"Please don't mention food." James whined, tearing up like a big baby.
"Yeah, it's only makin' us even hungrier." Meowth added.
Lita, knowing how to solve this problem, declared with a smirk. "Not to worry. Leave it to the Cooking Experts to save the day!"
"Good thing Lita and I thought ahead." Brock chuckled, much to the delight of their hungry friends who cheered on happily, knowing that they were in for a nice meal tonight...and hopefully that it wouldn't be their last.
While Brock and Lita were preparing dinner for everybody with veggie stew and pizza pancakes, and the vegetarians of the group feasted on fruit and berries that were thankfully around and enough for a whole village to eat and then some, the rest of the heroes were setting up camp for the night. Along the way, Cloud felt the same painful jolt in his chest again, wincing as he nearly dropped the pile of wood he chopped and collected, before shaking it away and continued on, thinking that it was just in his head.
Serena, having helped in setting up a tent with Raye and Mina, wiped her forehead as she sighed in slight exhaustion. But as she was heading over to see if anybody else needed help, she caught sight of Rini, Lusie, Max, Mairin, Chespie, Rena, Sakura, Madison, Team Pokepals, Pikachu and Piplup plucking some apples from a nearby tree. But it was the mere sight of her future-daughter and future-granddaughter again that really got her attention.
Again the linger of sadness and guilt surged into her heart. No matter what she did, and whether or not they would survive the Asteroid, the sixteen year old Moon Princess would be losing them and would never see them again. Tears began to form in her eyes which she tried to stop to prevent herself from crying as she knew that she was being selfish.
But she wasn't ready to say goodbye.
"Serena?"
Blinking back to awareness at Ellie's voice, Serena turned to her right and saw the female Mammoth and Manny approach as the two, having noticed the teenage girl's expression, approached while Ellie asked in concern. "Are you okay?"
"Uh...Yeah, I'm fine." Serena replied, though she didn't sound convincing at all, even to herself. That two of her friends caught on.
"You don't sound fine. You've been acting weird on and off lately. What's going on?" Manny pointed out, and lately he did catch her looking so sad. He had been worried yet didn't know what the problem was and thought it was just his imagination.
Realizing that she wasn't going to get out of it, and, thinking that maybe if she told the two Mammoths who were parents and while the blonde-haired girl saw them as among her best friends, she also saw them as somewhat another set of parents to her, Serena sighed in defeat and decided to be honest with them.
"I'm just...dreading when Rini and Lusie return home to the futures again and probably won't come back anymore." Serena finally admitted, lowering her gaze as tears began to form, her throat squeezing slightly and choking. "I mean, I knew they would have to sooner or later, and my future-self and Rini's future-self are probably missing them just as much as I'll miss them, and that fact that I have to wait until I become pregnant in order to be with Rini again is still a long wait."
Manny and Ellie both shared a shocked but sympathetic glance, now understanding why their young friend was feeling so down. Like her, they would miss Rini and Lusie once they would return home, and as a person who would become a mother someday, it was like she was watching her only child leave forever growing up. Nodding, they knew that despite they could do so little to ease the Moon Princess's pain, they can at least be there to comfort her in best way possible.
"Hey, Meatball head." Manny began softly, causing his friend who had brought him and his herd back to life almost two years ago. "You do know that even a thousand years is a lot shorter than 8,000 years, like Cloud and everybody else had to wait to see you and the others again? Let alone the six of us guys from the Ice Age for 20,000 years? It seemed like a long time, but the closer you get in seeing the people you care about, even if you may not know it or even forgot, you realize that time flies faster than you would expect."
"Yeah..." Serena nodded, having almost forgotten about that but she couldn't forget about the sad times of saying goodbye to some friends either.
"And remember how long Aqua, Terra and Ven had to wait to see each other again? Same with Axel, Roxas, Xion and Isa. But they're all together again. You'll see Rini again, and even though sometimes we won't see some friends or families again, you have to remember all the good times you had. Nothing lasts forever, but we're all going to stop that hunk of space rock from destroying that future." Ellie added comfortingly.
Again Serena lowered her gaze in sadness and slight fear. "Well, that's another problem I'm afraid of. What if we won't be able to stop it and both Rini and Lusie will end up erased, this time for good?" Tears now forming stronger before beginning to fall, she continued as she struggled not to cry. "What if I'm not strong enough anymore? What if...what if I have to go back in time and change history again just to be able to have my Eternal Form to stop that stupid rock that's about to kill us? If that happens, then everything we fought for was for nothing."
Understanding her fears which made both of them worry about the outcome as well, Manny reluctantly shrugged in agreement. "Well, as much as I hate to say it, but I'm not fully convinced if we can stop the Asteroid on time, and right now all I want is to see my little Peaches again."
"Yeah, well, if we survive, then Peaches will grow up and won't be little anymore and someday she'll probably meet the man of her dreams and get married." The teenage girl pointed out, sniffling.
"She has a point." Ellie winced.
"I know. I'm already trying to brace myself for it." Manny sighed in agreement, before continuing to Serena, gently placing his trunk comfortingly on her right shoulder. "But really, you'll see them again and in order for both of them to be born, you have to give birth to Rini, and she has to be home in order to give birth to Lusie when she grows up. It won't be easy, but...your future-self's probably just as worried."
Eyes widening in realization just how much Neo-Queen Serenity was probably feeling every day without Rini around in the 30th Century, and how Rini's future self was without Lusie, Serena realized that she was feeling the same feeling of sadness of missing her family both here in the present and in the future. It was selfish of her to try and have them stay in the past and then would want them come back home as an adult but never would. She forgot about that and while she would miss them, she would be so happy to at least see Rini again in the future, holding her child in her arms.
In fact, Serena could see her future-self remember this very moment in Crystal Tokyo. Despite still feeling the sadness, this conversation renewed her vows to make sure the future didn't change so that Rini and Lusie could finally return home to be with their parents once again. She wiped away her tears and smiled sadly at the two Mammoths who told her what she needed to hear.
"Thanks, guys. You're right. I can't worry about that right now. Gotta stop the giant rock from hitting all worlds first." Serena thanked gratefully, and was hugged by the couple who gently placed their trunks around her as she embraced them back in return.
Everything was going to be alright. She would make sure of it.
A few minutes later, Serena, calming down a little, and everybody else gathered at the large set up table while waiting for the two best cooks of the Sailor Team to finish up making dinner.
"Well, food's finally ready." Lita announced, before she and Brock began to hand out plates and bowls to their friends. "Pass this to Serena."
"One for Rufus." Brock announced.
"Here you go, Vincent." Lita added.
"One for Tseng."
"This one's for you, Misty." Lita gave the plate to the aforementioned Water Pokemon trainer who thanked her.
"And for you, May. Right here." Brock added, giving May hers while the young Coordinator thanked him.
"These two are for Sora and Kairi."
Unbeknownst to everyone else, one plate of Pizza Pancakes was suddenly taken away by a small light-brown figure who hooted like an owl and hid underneath the cooking bench.
"Next comes Ven." Brock said, only to notice to his shock that Ven's plate of food was gone. Hearing an odd noise, he bend down and saw a small brown owl-like creature with green leaf-like leaves, cute big black and white eyes, and a small beak. It didn't take him long to realize that it was a new Pokemon. "A new Pokemon?"
To his annoyance, the Pokemon, known as Rowlet, was happily eating away at the Pizza Pancakes. "Hey! I made that for Ven!"
Rowlet was startled as Lita, Sora, and Kairi who heard this and approached, bend lower to see what was going on. Then the small pokemon seemed to be hurt by Brock's angry outburst and began to cry, which made the Pokemon Breeder/Doctor wince as he realized what he had done, and his fiancee and two friends to glare at him in disappointment.
"Brock! That's not nice." Sora scolded.
"Why did you have to be so mean?" Kairi asked, feeling very sorry for the cute new Pokemon.
Luna and everybody else, hearing this, also approached as she saw the new Pokemon and was surprised to see it, and also picked up on what Rowlet was doing despite that it was unusual and very rare for this type of Rowlet to do so.
"Oh, wow! It's a Rowlet, a Pokemon from the Alola Region." Luna remarked in amazement to the confusion of her sister, cousins and friends, before muttering in confusion. "But this one's unusually using fake-tears attack."
Rowlet then instantly stopped it's attack with a flinch as it realized that it was caught red-handed, hooted while awkwardly placing the plate onto it's head and attempted to fly away with it's stolen meal despite Brock's protests. "Hey, wait!"
The owl Pokemon was just about to get away when suddenly a leathered red gloved hand took the plate off of it's head, causing Rowlet to stop and turned to see what happened as though asking. 'Huh? Where'd my food go?'
Luna, Brock, Lita, Kairi, and Sora stood up as they and the rest of the group who gathered all saw what happened and most of them were shocked to see the sudden appearance of the shockingly familiar man; mainly some of the Sailor Team such as Serena, Amy, Raye, Lita, Mina, Darien, Rini, Team Pokepals, Ash, Pikachu, Sakura, Sora, Riku, Mickey, Donald and Goofy, and even Cloud, and Tifa, and Rufus, Tseng, Reno, Rude and Elena...
It was Genesis, who was holding Ven's plate in his left hand, while holding a Dumbapple in his right, gently scolding the Rowlet. "You shouldn't take things that are not yours, little one, even in your most desperate. This apple is much better."
As the ginger-haired man handed over the offered apple, the Alolan Pokemon, in hunger and fear, took it by the stem and flew off into a tree and began eating it, nervously peering at the humans, animals, other Pokemon and the two Ogres. Genesis smirked before turning his gaze to the heroes who stared back in shock at him.
"You!?" Reno exclaimed in disbelief.
"Who's that?" Tiffenie asked, warily.
"Never seen this guy before." Diego shrugged cluelessly, not sure what the problem was. Though the sight of this human gave him a bit of the heebie jeebies.
"No way!" Serena cried out, not having expected to see Genesis again, especially after the latter went back to sleep shortly after Ultimecia was defeated for good.
"Genesis!?" Sora exclaimed in disbelief.
"You're here?" Mickey's eyes widened, shocked.
"Indeed. We meet again, Sailor Team." The former 1st Class SOLDIER Rogue greeted, and smirked even further. "Though I'm surprised you have formed trust with Shinra, who have atoned enough to gain it."
That shocked the rest of the Guardians who had heard about Genesis' actions, both the bad and the good, while Buck, not having been around as long, didn't hear the exploits of Ultimecia's dangerous goals in taking over the Time Compression, and thus he had no idea who Genesis was or how his friends knew him.
"How is it that you know Genesis?" Tseng questioned the Sailor Team who flinched.
"Uh, well, the short version of it is, that, Genesis has been asleep a long while and when he woke up, he actually helped us out in beatin' Ultimecia who came back and caused heaps of problems with Nightmares before our vacation in Medge almost two years ago. I mean, yeah he told us all the problems that he caused, but we only fought him once. After that, he went back to sleep...until now." Serena explained sheepishly with a sweat drop.
"So what you're sayin' is that Crimson-boy here actually atoned by helping you kids out without us knowin'?" Reno questioned skeptically, folding his arms.
"Wait a minute. You mean this is the same guy who had the Nightmare versions of Axel and Darkrai and even Rinoa to help us out?" Shrek asked, as he realized what was going on. Never in his life he thought he'd actually get to meet the guy who was once friends with Sephiroth, which now that he thought of it, was still a creepy thing to think of.
"I think I had this guy memorized, 'cause there was somethin' about a guy with a red sword doin' something." Lea said thoughtfully.
"The Organization knew about this, didn't they?" Puss deadpanned.
"Yeah, pretty much." The former red-headed Nobody answered.
"So what are you doing here?" Cloud questioned, narrowing his eyes suspiciously. Despite that he trusted his younger friends on what they said and did, he still had bad memories of Genesis's actions, both in his past life and what he did in the present. More so to Zack than anything else.
What Genesis said next shocked them.
"The awakening of Zack Fair has come, and I have sensed disturbances in the last few months. Especially with this world, which is set to be destroyed if the asteroid is not stopped." The Crimson swordsman replied, shocking the Guardians and all of their friends and allies.
The awakening of Zack...would that mean that he can finally be saved? How was that possible?
"Well, he's not wrong about the asteroid part." Buck shrugged awkwardly.
Cloud, despite still having distrust in Genesis, demanded. "Zack? Where is he?"
"He is fine. Right here, waiting for his heart to return." Genesis moved aside as he had stood near the wall of the cliff he stood on earlier, revealing the slumbering Zack, having slightly aged since four years ago but not in the same way as Ven, Terra, and Aqua, leaned against the rock wall. Everyone gasped in shock again to see him.
Upon seeing their friend again, whom they learned and thought to have died again and that his heart was inside Cloud's, the spiky-haired swordman, Serena, Mickey, a shocked Ven, and the rest of the Sailor Team and Guardians of Light hurried over and stood not too far but not too close to the raven-spiky haired man.
"I just have two questions, however." Genesis spoke up once more, making everyone gaze at him again...only for the crimson soldier to gaze at Buck with a puzzled look, and what he was carrying. "Who is this one-eyed weasel and why he is carrying a pumpkin around his body?"
The Sailor Team all sweat dropped in disbelief at the questions, while Riku shook his head with a sigh. "It's a long story, and a crazy one too."
Ignoring the questions, Cloud, his breath shaking slightly as he knelt before his very own best friend who had saved his life and sacrificed himself more times than he could count, and he hasn't seen in four years despite in his dreams and Heart-links in the Station of Waking, feeling like he was dreaming. He felt light-headed, as memories of losing Zack twice or three times formed into his mind, never having thought he would see him again.
Yet here he was, in the same position as Ven had been in for twelve years while his heart slept inside of Sora's, waiting for his own heart to come back to him and finally awaken. It was surrel to the younger man, his throat feeling tight with forms of tears. In the times he spent with him, Cloud had secretly had seen Zack as his older brother who had been there for him, being his very first friend in his whole life in the previous life, having felt and grown to be comfortable with him, who had been spiritually encouraging him to never give up, and having entrusted him with the Buster Sword as his successor, just as Zack's mentor and best friend Angeal had done to him.
"Zack..." Cloud managed to whisper, only to wince as the pain in his chest flared up again, this time more violently as he clutched it with one hand, and frightening the rest of his friends who gathered around him.
"Cloud!" Tifa exclaimed fearfully, gently placing her hands onto her friend's shoulders.
"Cloud, are you okay?" Ash asked, worriedly.
Struggling to say something, Cloud then quickly realized why this was happening and winced in pain. "...I...think it's...Zack's heart...!"
"Zack's what!?" Reno exclaimed in disbelief, as he and the others did not know of what was really going on. Did he just hear right?
"I get it!" Sora exclaimed, his eyes widening as he and soon the rest of the Guardians realized what was going on. "Zack's heart is reacting inside Cloud's heart because his body was close by and starting to wake up! Just like with both Kairi's heart and Ven's heart inside me. Even Roxas and Xion's."
"So that means, in order to restore Zack's heart to his body without hurting Cloud..." Roxas trailed off as he and everyone else came to the same realization.
Serena's eyes widened as she finished for the former Nobody. "It's gonna take the Power of Waking...!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! What the hell does that mean!?" Reno demanded after everyone else who knew little about Cloud and Sora's actions with the hearts of Zack and Ven. "Seriously, are you sayin' that Zack's heart is literally inside Chocobo-head's heart the whole time? Like Jess, James and Meowth told us everything you kids went through?"
"See? I told you we weren't making it up!" Jessie growled in annoyance as she, James and Meowth had told him and the others in Midgar of what happened.
"I have a lot to catch up on." Buck admitted, thoroughly confused.
Serena giggled, once again sheepish as she explained. "Well, if we survive after the next couple of days, there's plently of stories to share." She then turned to Zack while adding in concern. "But really, one of us will have to use the Power of Waking to do this."
"Well, I can't." Sora apologetically said, lowering his gaze a little while Kairi looked guilty for the reason. "I gave up mine to rescue Kairi, remember?"
The heroes all shared uneasy glances, while Serena, despite that time was running out, thought deeply about this and at a quick glance at Ash and Sakura which she didn't think they should do this, narrowed her eyes as she decided that she should give it a shot with a nod.
"I'll do it. I've known Cloud and Zack a bit longer." She announced, shocking her family and friends once more.
"Hold on, Serena!" Mickey protested worriedly. "If you use your power of waking, ya might not have enough to stop the Asteroid."
Serena stood up as she attempted to reassure. "I should be okay. Plus it's been five months since the war."
"Are you sure about this? Remember what happened to you when you became Sailor Cosmos?" Rini asked, very concerned for her mother's past-self.
"I know that, but Cloud and Zack could be in real danger right now."
"Then let me and Sakura handle it." Ash volunteered with determination with Sakura nodding in agreement. "We both still have our Power of Waking too, you know."
Serena smiled softly at her close friend's offer. "Thanks, but I'll be fine. Just trust me."
Before anyone could protest, Darien, knowing his wife's pure heart and determination, told them reassuringly despite his own concerns. "Her mind's made up. All we can do is hope for the best."
Even though they were gravely worried about Serena, Cloud and Zack, they all reluctantly knew that the Prince of the Earth was right and could only hope that nothing would go horribly wrong. So they hesitantly stood and backed up while Cloud remained still, trying to recover while Serena took a couple steps back, preparing herself to use her power to save him and restore Zack back to life.
"Cloud, you think you can try and reach out to him?" Serena gently asked.
While he panted, Cloud, knowing what his friend had in mind, nodded. "Y-yeah. Do what you can."
Nodding in return, Serena brought out her Ultra Dream Locket and held it up above her, chanting. "Moon, Ultra, Power!"
The light of her words and the Silver Crystal along with the locket's power engulfed her and right before the very eyes of all of her friends and allies, she had transformed into Sailor Moon and those who had never seen her new transformation attire, namely Team Rocket, Rufus, the Turks, Buck and Genesis, who had been surprised to see the locket's new form, gazed in awe as the light radiated from her body. She then summoned her Keyblade and got ready to perform the Power of Waking once again.
She held out her weapon and used her power as she glowed, and as the tip of the Keyblade shot out a beam of light at both Cloud and Zack, the two men also glowed brightly in light, while the spiky blonde-haired man felt something he carried within his heart leave him, and a small heart-shaped orb of light drifted from his body and floated into the chest of the slumbering older man, fusing within him for the first time in years.
Yet no one was aware that high above them, the Dino Birds, who had finally recovered from being barbecued by the lightning caused by Crash and Eddie, peered over the cliff and saw what was happening.
Not even the trio had any idea what was happening and were completely shocked to see the human blonde-haired girl with two strange balls on her head transform clothes like magic right before their eyes.
"Am I seeing things, or did that human girl just magically change her clothes, bring out a weird pink stick thing and is now glowing with those two other humans?" Roger asked, wondering if he was dreaming.
"It's not you." Gertie replied, almost completely speechless.
"What is she doing?" Gavin questioned suspiciously and completely shocked. No human should be able to do that, as far as he knew.
The moment Sailor Moon finished her task, she, Cloud and Zack then stopped glowing while the Moon Princess dismissed her Keyblade and looekd up hesitantly along with the rest of the group. Cloud, panting a little as the pain finally eased completely, looked up worriedly at Zack who, after a very long time waiting, finally began to moan a little and stir before his slightly glowing sky-blue eyes opened up slowly. The first thing he sees is the stunned and utterly relieved faces of most people he easily recognized and others who he didn't know but almost instantly felt that they were all friends of some of his friends.
"Zack...!" Cloud softly gasped, unable to believe it. His best friend was finally awake, and alive. He felt like he was having the moment of seeing him again back 7,998 years ago in Midgar.
"Hey, man. Sorry it took so long." Zack smiled in greeting at his younger best friend, feeling a little tired despite having a four year nap...and hungry.
The younger man could only chuckle, form a true bright emotional smile as he uncharacteristically form actual tears in his eyes, while Sailor Moon, Mickey, Tifa, and especially Aerith all began to tear up just as emotionally and happily. Finally after four years of waiting despite the crisis they were facing, Zack Fair was back and was here to stay. This was the best thing everyone's experienced in nearly 48 hours.
"Zack!" Aerith exclaimed tearfully upon seeing her lover back at long last.
"Aerith!" Zack responded, just as happy to see his girlfriend again, and caught her in his arms when she leaped into his chest, the two sharing the long awaited embrace. He felt like tearing up himself. The two were then quickly joined by Mickey, Sailor Moon, and even both Ven and Jason who all laughed happily, and then Ash, having seen Zack as good friend and mentor, and Pikachu joined in as well.
"Welcome back, Zack!" Jason exclaimed happily, very glad to see him again after so long.
"Hey, guys. Long time no see!" Zack cheerfully greeted the younger group, though he was surprised to see Jason still being a child, but none the less, he was happy to see everyone again.
The rest of the group all smiled at the emotional happy reunion, and even Tseng, Vincent and Rufus formed warm smiles upon seeing the raven-spiky haired young man back and reunited with his close friends.
"Yeah, way to go, Sailor Moon!" Crash cheered happily, as he and Eddie both shared a high-five and hug, celebrating.
After a few more moments of celebrating and embracing, Sailor Moon and the others finally stood up and reluctantly stepped back to allow Zack to stretch his muscles that had been tensed after being asleep without his heart for so long.
"Man. That was the longest nap I've ever had. I'm surprised I didn't get a back ache at this point." Zack remarked, stretching his arms upward before lowering them with a bit of a swing.
"UGLY SOLDIER DUDE!" Yuffie exclaimed very loudly as she hugged him suddenly as well, startling him a little. She began to tear up yet laugh very happily since she hasn't seen him since Traverse Town.
"W-whoa! Yuffie?" Zack asked, startled before smiling happily as the last time he'd seen the Wutaiian girl who, like him and most of the others, had been reborn into the present, she'd been a fourteen year old little thing and she had gotten a bit taller in over the years. "You sure grew big!"
"Huh?" Sailor Moon blinked, confused on what her friend had called Zack. "Ugly SOLDIER dude?"
"It's a long story." Zack chuckled sheepishly as he hugged Yuffie.
"A crazy one from the looks of it." Lea remarked, just as confused. Though he winced when Zack looked at him and like many times before, the slightly younger man was shocked to see him.
"Huh? Axel?" Zack gasped in shock and surprise.
Lea, once again uncomfortable due to their history, rubbed the back of his neck. "Uh, well, yes and no. My real name's Lea, but whatever you wanna call me is cool too. Got it memorized?"
Despite the confusion before realizing that Lea was no longer wearing the black coat, even though he has heard stuff while his heart was inside of Cloud's, he hadn't even realized it much like Ven. Then as he looked around, he saw that he wasn't the only one who had returned; Ven himself along with Jason, Aqua, and Terra and even Sceptile were there as well, along with the Turks. With so many questions in his mind, he realized that he missed out on a whole lot.
"Boy oh boy." Zack murmured as he gently pushed Yuffie back, ending the hug. "Do I have a lot to catch up on."
A moment of silence.
Shrek, seeing how Zack was somehow similar to a couple of people he knew, whispered to Manny. "I'm pretty sure this guy's a combination of Ash and Sora."
"It's gonna take a while in getting used to him." Manny whispered back, feeling a little uncomfortable over Zack's quirky and happy-go-lucky personality.
"Wait a second." Ash blinked, turning to Lea and asked in surprise. "You mean you and Zack know each other, Axel?"
This only made the red-haired man groan in dismay. "Great. Now we're gonna made upgrades for our Gummiphones."
"Oh come on, Lea. That's minor compared to the Asteroid." Ven pointed out, even though he knew what his old friend was talking about.
At the mention of the Asteroid, Zack flinched before gazing at Cloud, then at the incoming Asteroid in the sky and gasped in shock and horror, then back at his close friend ans asked worriedly. "Did I wake up at the wrong time?"
"I guess it depends on the timing." Cloud shrugged, now that the situation of what was going on besides his best friend's awakening came back on track.
Sailor Moon, knowing that Genesis had brought Zack here for both purposes as she realized that the former Crimson SOLDIER really came back to help while having silently requested her to revive the latter since Cloud was with them, then had an idea.
"Hey, if you like, why don't you and Genesis stick around with us? We're all going to the Crash Site to try and stop the giant burning rock." She offered, surprising everybody else once again.
While most of the group welcomed the idea, some of them were wondering if the Moon Princess was crazy as Reno objected. "Hold up, kid. Zack, I can understand. But you seriously ain't gonna invite poetry boy, are ya?"
"I like poetry." Jack muttered, which caused Barbossa to roll his eyes in annoyance.
As though taking up Sailor Moon's offer, Genesis nodded. "I don't see why not. After all, the revival of Zack is the first step of my atonement."
He then quoted his favorite lines of LOVELESS. "~When the war of the beasts brings about the world's end, The goddess descends from the sky, Wings of light and dark spread afar, She guides us to bliss, her gift everlasting.~"
That only made Captain Sparrow confused. "What's that?"
"I see you're still into Loveless, huh, Genesis?" Mina couldn't help but giggle.
"Well, I suppose we should give him a chance, but we will keep an eye on him, just in case." Rufus relented, and while he and his most trusted Turks were suspicious over Genesis' activities, he had to admit that he did bring back Zack's body to allow Sailor Moon to use her power to help Cloud revive him.
Once they were in agreement to allow the two former SOLDIERS to help stop the Asteroid, suddenly they heard the stomachs of some of the group growl again, much to the embarrassment of almost everyone else, just as Zack's stomach began growling in demand for food.
"Oops. Ha-ha. I guess all the excitement has made everybody even more hungry." Mickey chuckled sheepishly.
"I haven't felt hungry in ages, but now I feel like I'm starving." Zack sheepishly remarked.
Lita smiled happily. "Don't you worry. Two extra plates and bowls coming up!"
With that thought in mind and now having two more allies to help in saving the Realm of Light, while Serena de-transformed back to normal, she and all of her friends, family and allies headed back to the table to have dinner and catch up on more stories before resting for the night.
"Say, Ven. There's a lot I wanna say, but first, I didn't know you had a twin brother and Kairi had a sister." Zack said to his old friend, while remarking about Sora's former Nobody and replica.
The young man still stuck in his fifteen year old body smiled sheepishly as he chuckled. "Well, we're not, actually."
"There's a lot of long stories, but I think we have time before we continue our journey tomorrow." Kairi explained, smiling warmly.
While Zack was puzzled over this, Buck, relieved that two more friends of his Sailor Team friends had come to help, had by then been telling a story to his adoptive Pumpkin daughter, Bronwyn, finishing up with a parody of a nusery rhyme. "And this widdle astewiod went wee, wee, wee, all the way home."
Unbeknownst to him, the Dino birds, having witnessed the whole thing, were now making plans on what to do in killing the one-eyed weasel, only to end up making too much noise, or mainly Roger was, and his father and sister had to quickly push him to the ground and hide before their enemies could see them. Buck, hearing the sound and turned to see, didn't notice and then just shrugged it off, thinking he was hearing things again.
"...Because Daddy and his fwiends saved the Wealm of Wight." He concluded the story, much to Zack's confusion as he noticed the Dino-hunter's insane personality and craziness.
He and Genesis both shared a confused glance before turning back to the rest of the group who, still feeling awkward with Buck's condition, just shrugged.
"Why he is telling a story to a pumpkin like it's a baby?" Zack asked, dumbfounded.
"Another crazy long story." Serena sighed, exasperated.
Even though Zack and Genesis were confused, they both decided to leave at that and joined the Sailor Team and everyone else while getting to know the rest of the Guardians of Light.
Yet not knowing that the Dino birds were about to make their move at the least expected.
Later after dinner, which Zack missed in having a meal due to being asleep for four years, and even Genesis was amazed by Lita and Brock's cooking skills, everyone was cleaning up and getting ready to sleep to continue on early in the morning.
During that time the Sailor Team explained how the crimson soldier secretly helped with Rinoa as well as the nightmare-creations based on Axel and Darkrai to lead them into ultimately defeating and destroying Ultimecia once and for all, while Zack explained his own adventures which lead to his heart being placed inside of Cloud's. The two men in turned were told of everything else that has happened including the involvement of Bhunivelze, Chaos and Master Xehanort.
"So it was this Bhunivelze who is the trigger of the events that have happened for thousands of years, and you have ultimately defeated him, young Princess." Genesis surmised to Serena, nodding in understanding. "Yet you had to give up your Eternal power to rescue your true love and the love of Sora."
While Serena sighed as she admitted, "Yeah, but I had help from all of my friends. It wasn't easy." Both Sora, and Kairi blushed heavily as they shared a glance before looking away slightly, embarrassed.
"You guys sure are the real heroes. I have a feeling that that giant rock heading straight towards us won't even land with all of you and us around." Zack remarked, really amazed by the accomplishment the Guardians of Light have achieved.
"That's what we're hoping." Mickey shrugged, still worried himself.
"If I ever see another giant meteor coming towards us again in the future, it'll be way too soon." Ash couldn't help but groan softly, shuddering over the memories of the last Asteroid two years ago.
"Same here." The Moon Princess slumped slightly in agreement.
"I still can't believe you were experimented by two psychos who had a thing for doing that other people." Shira shook her head in digust, admittedly horrified over the actions both Hojo and Hollander had committed.
"It's even worse that one of those psychos was Sephiroth's father, it's no wonder he hated that old guy." Diego agreed, then cringed as he gazed at Vincent apologetically. "No offense."
"None taken." The former Turk replied, not offended at all.
"So, Zack, I hear that you dreamed on becoming a hero, right?" Shrek couldn't help but ask curiously.
The raven-spiky haired man shrugged a little, saying. "Yeah, it's been my dream even back in my old life. I made a mistake in joining SOLDIER 'cause I thought I could become a hero like Sephiroth, who was described as the SOLDIER hero. It was a similar story in Olympus when I begged Phil train me, but in the end, it was pretty Herc' who needed that goal more than I did."
"Yeah, I remember that time." Ven chuckled fondly. "Phil's a great guy. He just...has a problem with math."
The Sailor Team, Cloud, Zack and Team Rocket all nodded in agreement.
"Why does he have a problem with that?" Jack asked, puzzled.
"Because every time he says two words he's thinking of, it's end up being either just one word, three words or even four or five words." Donkey deadpanned.
A moment of pause.
"Oh." The pirate captain murmured.
"This is a nice time for stories and all, but maybe we should save 'em for after we get rid of that giant space rock of darkness." Meowth suggested, supressing the urge to yawn.
"It would be nice to sleep for once since we didn't even get one hour of sleep, either." Jessie murmured in agreement.
"I'm all for that." James agreed as he stood up and began to approach a nice place to sleep...only to accidentally trip over a rock which made him scream in a high-pitch squeal, bumping into Jessie who screamed and fell and the two former members of Team Rocket stumbled and fell towards Meowth.
The feline Pokemon screamed in alarm before he attempted to run away but ended up being knocked over...and crashing into Brock and Sid who both screamed, much to the alarm of all of their friends and allies. All five of them then went tumbling down a small-ish hill nearby and rolled towards a lake. Though while the Pokemon Breeder/Doctor and the sloth ended up being separated from the former bumbling villains but ended up splashing into the freezing cold water, Team Rocket hit a dead bush which bent over a little before catapulting them so high that they ended up flying.
"WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! We're blasting off for the first time in mooooooonnnnnnttttthhhhhsssss!" Jessie, James and Meowth screamed as they disappeared briefly with a blink like a star.
Even to the point of somehow briefly going into space where they had to quickly hold their breath and were about to crash into the UFO that Scrat, who had panted in relief as he finally managed to get his Acorn back inside, when he heard a whooshing noise and looked out of the window and saw the familiar trio fly by and descend back to the Fairy-Tale World.
Huh? Where did those guys come from?
"Huh?" Scrat blinked, confused...Right before he heard a monstrous roar which made the little ice age squirrel freeze up in quick fear.
Uh oh...What now?
Slowly and nervously, Scrat's eyes widened in sheer horror as flying straight towards him was a giant green snake-like dragon with short arms and red teeth heading straight towards him. Little did he know that it was one of the legendary Pokemon Raquazya who, having been traveling to space and fully unaware of the Asteroid as the Pokemon was focused on the UFO, snarled and was about to attack.
AAHHH! A giant monster that's about to eat him!
"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" Scrat screamed before he quickly hurried to the ship's pilot seat and made to try and move it out of the way, narrowly avoiding the Pokemon's Hyper Beam attack and flew away, once again further off from the three planets, with Rayquaza roaring as it followed it's prey.
Scrat piloted the UFO with clumsy and comical results as he flew up and down, side to side and looping around while spinning like he was on a roller coaster to the point of becoming dizzy.
Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa! He thought he was going to be sick.
All the while he attempted to escape from the legendary Pokemon who continued to chase after him.
Seconds later back in the Fairy-Tale world, the trio came descending while still screaming just as Sid and Brock emerged, freezing in the cold water, and both screamed when they saw Team Rocket about to crash right top of them.
SPLASH!
Luckily for the duo, they were fine despite being wet. Unfortunately for the trio, they ended up splashing into a more deeper part of the lake, but otherwise still alive. The Guardians of Light, Team Pokepals, the Pirates, the Turks, Zack and Rufus all groaned in exasperation, while Genesis shook his head, not believing what he just witnessed.
"I'm starting to think that whenever we're with Team Rocket, they suffer constant bad luck." Amelia uneasily murmured.
"That, or they just haven't had enough sleep." Tiffenie added, just as uneasy.
Even Granny was admittedly surprised, before she scoffed in annoyance. "That blue berry head guy's more of a screw-up than Sidney."
Ten minutes later...
"ACHOO!" James sneezed as he, Jessie, Meowth, Sid, and Brock all shivered violently in the cold, huddled up close to the newly made Campfire with blankets wrapped around them while Lita, Mina, Amy, Raye, Crash and Eddie dried the group off.
"I think James needs to consider on looking where he is going." Terra dryly remarked.
"It's been months since we've been around those guys." Future-Pipup groaned.
"Yeah, well, they're great at doing their job and all, but they're still a little clumsy. Just hope they get their promotion by the time this is over." Reno shrugged.
"I can't help but ask. Does this happen to them all the time?" Zack asked, a little uneasily.
"Oh yeah." Misty murmured in tiredness.
"Every time." Raye sighed.
"Pikachu.(Oh brother)." Pikachu muttered, then sighed a puffed air. He just hoped that everything would return to normal.
"That's Team Rocket for ya'." Serena shrugged knowingly, before gazing at them and two of her friends, while thinking to herself. 'Still, it's great to see that they finally have a new career which helps them to really go through redeeming themselves. Like Rufus and the Turks.'
Thinking about her other former enemies, the sixteen year old Princess gazed at the yound President and four original Turks who continued to talk about the trio, and sensed that they really have fully redeemed. She knew that they were all going to be working together to stop the Asteroid of Darkness.
Yet she was still in doubt if they can manage to pull this off.
A/N: Okay so this was a breather chapter, with a bit of an emotional part with Serena's problems, the sudden return of Genesis and the revival of Zack who both officially join in to try and help to stop the Asteroid of Darkness! YAY! After Zack's fate in "Kingdom Hearts: Crisis Core", he has been saved at long last!
But the dangers are not over yet as our heroes are in for the next challenges and surprises that will happen soon! I've also added a brand new Scrat scene for the sense of humor. *Winks*
See you in the next chapter!
