I wish I was releasing this chapter under better circumstances, but a friend of mine commited suicide. She was a huge fan of Kamen Rider OOO, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Symphogear, even giving me my first Symphogear-related merch. She was incredibly smart when it came to programming, and made several bots for Symphogear on Twitter and Discord. I'm dedicating this chapter to them. RIP, my friend. We'll all miss you.

UPDATE: I just got the news that my friend is alive, but... the situation is very complicated. I cannot spread more news about the current situation due to privacy reasons.

Drilldark shredded up the last of the rogue Duel Monsters, while Decider destroyed the remaining Noise. Celestial protected Miku from anything that got in close. Soon enough, the entire battleground was clear, not a scratch on her. She let out a breath of relief, before turning towards where she saw the smoke, only for her eyes to widen when she saw it was gone. She didn't know where Hibiki was. She was just about to go on foot, when she heard the revving of an engine.

Tsubasa drove onto the scene in her blue D-Wheel. She screeched to a halt right in front of Miku, raising the visor on her helmet.

"Kohinata, I see you took care of the situation here." Tsubasa said.

"U-Um, yes." Miku said, as her three warriors landed by her. "But we need to find Hibiki. She went to duel that Chris girl and-"

"So she's here as well…" Tsubasa put the visor back on, before pulling out a second helmet and tossing it to Miku. "Hop on."

"Eh?" Miku blushed a bit. "But there's not enough-?"

"You'll fit, trust me." Tsubasa said. "Just hold onto me."

Miku was still a blushing mess, as she got behind Tsubasa and wrapped her arms around her waist.

"Let's go find Tachibana." Tsubasa said, revving the engine as they sped off to search the forest.

"SLOW DOWN!" Was all Miku could yell at the speeds they were going.

Hibiki and Chris stood across from each other, with 4000 life points and 5 cards each.

"You can go first." Hibiki said.

"Your funeral." Chris smirked. "Since I control no monsters, I can special summon Photon Thrasher from my hand!"

A glowing blue warrior appeared with a huge sword, boasting an impressive 2100 attack points.

"And since I control a Photon monster, I can special summon Photon Vanisher from my hand!"

A similar warrior, but with a blaster appeared. It had 2000 attack points, and took aim.

"Since I special summoned Photon Vanisher, I can add one Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon from my deck to my hand." Chris said, holding up the card.

Already on the first turn? Hibiki thought.

"Then with my level 4 Photon Thrasher, and level 4 Photon Vanisher, I build the overlay network!" Chris shouted.

Hibiki widened her eyes as the two monsters turned into light, sucked into a portal on the ground.

"Formed from pitch-black darkness, to fight those foolish enough to oppose it with its treacherous fangs! Now, descend! Xyz Summon! Appear! Rank 4! Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon!" Chris yelled.

The dark dragon burst from the vortex, letting out a roar as it spread its wings.

"I'll set one card face-down and end my turn." Chris finished.

"It's my turn now, I draw!" Hibiki drew the card from her deck, adding it to her hand. "I'll start things off by summoning Synchron Carrier!"

A small robot that seemed to be made of construction vehicles appeared on Hibiki's field.

"Thanks to Synchron Carrier's special ability, I can normal summon another monster as it's a Synchron monster." Hibiki said. "And I choose Junk Synchron!"

Synchron Carrier shot a hook back to Hibiki. Junk Synchron materialized and grabbed onto the hook, being pulled towards him.

"With my level 2 Synchron Carrier, I tune it with my level 3 Junk Synchron!"

Synchron Carrier launched Junk Synchron into the sky, as the tuner pulled a cord on his body and turned into three green rings. Synchron Carrier jumped towards them, turning translucent and into two stars.

"Gathering stars will call upon a new force! Become the path its light shines upon!" Hibiki chanted.

The rings and stars turned into a pillar of light.

"Synchro Summon! My partner, Junk Warrior!"

Junk Warrior emerged from the light, spinning around before aiming a fist forward.

"Then I activate my spell card, Synchro Blast Wave!" Hibiki said, activating the card. "When I control a Synchro monster, I can target and destroy one of your monsters!" Hibiki shouted. "And I choose Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon!"

"What?!"

Junk Warrior swung his fist forward, unleashing a wave of energy that shattered the dragon. The dragon never even got a chance to shine.

"Dark Rebellion!" Chris shouted. "You damn brat! You'll pay for that!"

"Junk Warrior! Attack Chris-chan's life points directly! Scrap Fist!" Hibiki commanded.

Junk Warrior rushed forward in a burst of speed, ready to smash his fist right at Chris. But the crimson duelist tapped her duel disk, and the face-down flipped up.

"I activate a trap card, Negate Attack! This negates your attack and ends the battle phase immediately!"

Junk Warrior was pushed back by a vortex of wind. Hibiki raised a brow.

"Wasn't that the card you made fun of Tsubasa-san for using?"

"Shut your mouth!"

"Fine. I end my turn with one face-down." Hibiki slot the card into her Duel Disk. "Your move, Chris-chan."

"And stop calling me that! I draw!" Chris looked at her hand, before making her next move. "I activate the spell card, Trade-In! I can discard a level 8 monster to draw two cards!"

Hibiki's eyes narrowed, as she saw Chris discard Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon before drawing two new cards. She smirked at the two she had drawn.

"Jackpot! I activate Monster Reborn!"

Hibiki knew what was coming and braced herself.

"Be reborn from the graveyard, Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon!" Chris shouted.

In a flash of blinding light, Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon descended from the sky, roaring at Hibiki.

"And then I'll activate another spell card, Mystical Space Typhoon!" Chris said, holding up the card. "This lets me destroy one spell or trap card on the field, and I'll choose your face-down!"

Hibiki raised an arm, as her face-down Mirror Force shattered.

"Heh, I made a good call there." Chris threw her arm forward. "Go! Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon! Destroy Junk Warrior! Photon Stream of Destruction!"

With a mighty 3000 attack points, Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon unleashed a stream of pure photon energy, obliterating Junk Warrior. Hibiki stumbled from the blast, as her life points fell to 3300.

"And with that, I end my turn."

Hibiki looked up at the dragon, before drawing a card. She looked at what she drew and smiled. Chris raised a brow, as Hibiki's expression grew confident, and her hair grew slightly messier.

"Just the card I needed." Hibiki said, her voice deeper. "I activate Red-Eyes Fusion!"

She raised the card above her head, as flames surrounded her. Chris raised her arms to protect her face from the heat, as Galaxy-Eyes took a step back.

"Wh-What the hell…?"

"I fuse the Red-Eyes Black Dragon and Rapid Warrior in my deck!" Hibiki declared, before chanting. "The black dragon with eyes of red! Inherit the will of the warrior and shred through my enemies! Fusion Summon! Slash into action! Level 7! Red-Eyes Slash Dragon!"

The armored dragon flew onto the field, flapping its wings and brandishing its bladed arms.

"Red-Eyes Slash Dragon! Attack Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon!" Hibiki shouted.

"You're an idiot." Chris said. "My dragon is stronger than yours, why would you-?"

"Red-Eyes Slash Dragon's ability! I equip it with Junk Warrior!"

Junk Warrior appeared, sitting on Red-Eyes Slash Dragon's back.

"Now my Red-Eyes gains 200 attack points, bringing him up to 3000!" Hibiki said.

"You're still an idiot!" Chris shouted. "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon's ability! When it battles, I can banish both it and the monster it fights until the end of the battle phase!"

Hibiki smirked. "You fell for it, Chris-chan."

"What?!"

"I'll activate Red-Eyes Slash Dragon's other ability! By detaching an equip card from him, I can negate and destroy one of your cards!" Hibiki said.

Red-Eyes Slash Dragon's attack points dropped back down to 2800 as Junk Warrior shattered, but the shards of the monster shredded Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon.

"Galaxy-Eyes!" Chris yelled.

"Now, Red-Eyes Slash Dragon attacks you directly!" Hibiki said. "Red-Eyes Slash!"

Chris screamed as Red-Eyes Slash Dragon swung its bladed claws at her, knocking her back right into a tree. Chris groaned, still standing, but her life points were now at the low number of 1200.

"You damn brat…" Chris growled.

"Come on, you can do better than that, Chris-chan! I end my turn!" Hibiki said. "I can still hear them, your cards are crying… why are you making them cry?"

"SHUT UP! DRAW!" Chris screamed, drawing a card from her deck. "I activate Accellight! Since I control no monsters, I can special summon a level 4 or lower Photon or Galaxy monster from my deck. And I choose Photon Crusher!"

An armored green warrior with a heavy dual-ended mace glew on the field.

"Then since I control a Photon monster, I special summon Photon Advancer!"

A white and blue warrior brandished its fists.

"And with these two, I build the overlay network once more!"

The two monsters disappeared into the portal.

She already used Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, so what's she gonna bust out next?

"Xyz Summon! Come forth! Rank 4! Number 39: Utopia!"

Hibiki's eyes would've popped out of her head if they could. The angelic and mechanical warrior morphed from its inactive state, the 39 on its shoulder shining brightly.

"N-No way… you have the signature card of Yuma Tsukumo…?" Hibiki said, staring at the warrior.

"Battle! Utopia, attack Red-Eyes Slash Dragon!" Chris shouted.

Utopia attempted the suicide attack, but before his blade could clash, Chris shouted again.

"I activate Utopia's ability! Moon Barrier! By detaching one of his Xyz materials, I can negate the attack of any monster, and I choose him!"

Utopia stopped his swing, before flying back to Chris's side.

"Why did you do that-?"

"So I could activate this! Double or Nothing!"

Chris activated the quick-play spell, as golden coins showed the field.

"When a monster's attack is negated, I can activate this card to have them attack again, with double the attack power for this battle only!" Chris shouted.

Utopia's attack points jumped to 5000. Hibiki swallowed, as the swords shone.

"Go! Number 39: Utopia! Destroy Red-Eyes Slash Dragon! Hope Sword Mars Slash!"

Utopia flew forward once more, before swinging both of his blades in a cross pattern, completely obliterating the dragon. Hibiki took massive damage from the attack, dropping her life points all the way to 1100. She fell to one knee, breathing heavily.

"Had enough?" Chris asked. "You're pathetic, on your knees like that."

"I…"

"Hibiki!"

The blue D-Wheel sped onto the scene, as Tsubasa and Miku stepped off to see the duel.

"She has Number 39: Utopia…?" Tsubasa said, taking off her helmet.

Miku didn't seem to notice. There were more important matters to attend to. "Hibiki! Don't give up! You can win this!"

"Shut up!" Chris yelled. "You stay out of this!"

She was about to summon more Noise to keep them busy, but sparks flew from Solomon's Duel Disk.

Huh? What the hell? Why isn't it working?!

"She's right."

Hibiki stood back up, eyes gleaming.

"As long as I still have life points left, I won't give up on life!" Hibiki shouted. "I draw!"

She placed the new card into her hand, forming a plan. She knew what to do.

"Since you're the only one controlling a monster, I special summon Unknown Synchron!"

A ball of metal with what appeared to be a red eye hovered in front of Hibiki.

"Then I activate Monster Reborn, to bring back Red-Eyes Black Dragon from the graveyard!"

The black dragon descended with a roar. Chris scoffed.

"So what? Those two aren't strong enough to beat Utopia."

"Maybe separately, but not together." Hibiki said. "Up until now, I've been using Red-Eyes Black Dragon as Kanade-san's card. But for this move… Red-Eyes Black Dragon is my card! With my level 7 Red-Eyes Black Dragon, I tune it with my level 1 Unknown Synchron!"

(Play: Yusei's Theme - Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds)

"You're what?!"

Unknown Synchron became a single green ring, as Red-Eyes Black Dragon flew through, becoming 7 stars.

"Clustering wishes will become a new shining star! Become the path its light shines upon!" Hibiki chanted. "Synchro Summon! Soar, Stardust Dragon!"

A white and blue dragon descended in a beam of light, spreading its wings to create a gust. It let out a mighty roar that nearly blew Chris back.

"Stardust Dragon?!" Chris shouted.

The card I gave Hibiki… Miku smiled.

"Wait, when did Tachibana have that in her deck?!" Tsubasa said, stunned.

"Stardust Dragon, attack Number 39: Utopia! Shooting Sonic!"

Stardust Dragon reared its head, before unleashing a stream of silver energy.

"A double KO?! I won't let that happen!" Chris yelled. "I activate Utopia's ability again! Moon Barrier!"

The blast from Stardust Dragon dispersed right into Utopia's armored body.

"Then I set one card face-down and end my turn." Hibiki said.

"Draw!" Chris said. "I activate Xyz Unit, and equip it to Utopia! He gains another Xyz material, as well as attack points equal to his rank!"

Utopia's attack points jumped up to 3300, as another material floated around Utopia.

"Attack Stardust Dragon! Hope Sword Slash!"

Utopia jumped at Stardust Dragon, but Hibiki was ready.

"Trap activate!" Hibiki shouted. "Synchro Deflector!"

"WHAT?!"

"Since you attacked my Synchro monster, I can negate the attack and destroy one monster you control!" Hibiki shouted. "This duel is over!"

Utopia swung his swords at Stardust Dragon, before the blades shattered from the recoil. The shards pierced Utopia's body, destroying him.

"Utopia… he was my final hope…" Chris said, falling to her knees. "...I end my turn…"

Hibiki said nothing as she drew the last card. She didn't even bother looking though, as she knew what was happening next.

"Stardust Dragon, end this duel! Shooting Sonic!"

Stardust Dragon blasted Chris with the silver energy, ending the duel as her life-points hit zero. Chris was sent flying from the blast, while Solomon's Duel Disk cracked in half. Chris's cards scattered around her as she hit the ground. Hibiki's hair turned back to normal, as she ran over to her fallen foe.

"Chris-chan!" Hibiki shouted, kneeling down over Chris.

"Is she okay?" Miku asked, running up with Tsubasa.

Hibiki nodded. "I think she's just knocked out."

"You won, Tachibana." Tsubasa said, picking up the two halves of the shattered Duel Disk. "Sector Two will take her into custody for now."

Hibiki frowned. "But why don't I feel like celebrating?"

"Not every win feels like a victory, Tachibana." Tsubasa said. "It's good that you learned this now."

She stared at the ground, littered with Chris's cards.

"So this is Solomon's Duel Disk?" Ryoko asked, looking at the two broken halves.

Ryoko was at a table in HQ, looking through the, as she called it, "spoils of war" Hibiki and the others had obtained from Chris. Genjuro stood nearby.

Genjuro nodded. "That was what they managed to retrieve."

"A little busted up, but maybe I could jury rig this back together." Ryoko said. "Although, maybe it's for the better that I don't."

"Good call." Genjuro said.

She put down the two halves, before picking up the deck of cards.

"So this is the deck of that Chris Yukine." Ryoko said, riffling through the cards. "Hm? The main deck is one under the card requirement. And the extra deck seems a little thinner."

"Hibiki-kun took three of the cards and left them in Chris's room." Genjuro said. "She told me that those three were the most important to that girl."

"Isn't that a bit risky?" Ryoko asked. "That girl can talk to duel spirits as well."

"She'd need both her D-Gazer and a Duel Disk to cause any issues." Genjuro said. "Having three cards shouldn't be an issue."

"Oh, where are the girls, by the way?" Ryoko asked.

"Miku-kun kept watch over Chris-kun for a bit of time, before she left." Genjuro said. "Tsubasa's at the D-Wheel track to do some training. Hibiki went with her."

"And what are you going to do?" Ryoko asked, seeing Genjuro was about to leave.

"I need to make several stops." Genjuro said. "There are a few things I need to pick up."

"A new shipment of cards?" Ryoko asked with a raised brow.

Genjuro chuckled as he left.

"You want me to teach you how to Riding Duel?" Tsubasa asked.

Hibiki nodded. They were at the Riding Duel track, as Tsubasa had pulled over after completing a few laps. Other duelists were practicing as they sped by.

"I've always wanted to learn how." Hibiki said. "And I almost lost that duel with Chris-chan. I need to get stronger… please, teach me how to Riding Duel!"

Tsubasa chuckled. "You defeated me, yet you're also asking me to teach you."

"Eh? I'd totally lose if you dueled me again, Tsubasa-san!" Hibiki said.

"Tachibana." Tsubasa took off her helmet and looked Hibiki in the eyes. "Riding Dueling isn't like a normal duel. One wrong turn and you could end up in a nasty accident. When I was younger, I once ended up shattering all the bones in my leg from a D-Wheel accident, leaving me bedridden for half a year. Knowing this, are you sure you still want to try?"

Hibiki swallowed. "I'm sure!"

"I knew that you'd say that regardless of what I told you." Tsubasa said with a small sigh. "Very well then. I'll try to make some time in my schedule for you."

"Yay! Thanks, Tsubasa-san!" Hibiki jumped at her friend for a hug.

"T-Tachibana!" Tsubasa pulled Hibiki off her. "I'm glad you're enthusiastic, but hold on a moment. There's a test that you need to do."

She tossed Hibiki a spare helmet, before putting her own back on.

"Ride with me, Tachibana." Tsubasa said. "Kohinata couldn't handle the speed very well, so let's see if you're up to it."

"Yes Ma'am!" Hibiki said with a salute as she put the spare helmet on.

Chris opened her eyes with a groan, sitting up. She pushed off the covers, realizing she was in a bed.

While it was softer than any bed she'd been on in recent memory, now wasn't the time. She got off, slipping on her shoes which were next to it. Looking around, she saw she was in some sort of room. There weren't any windows.

Oh yeah, I lost… did they capture me?

She went to the door and tried to open it, but it was locked tight. There wasn't anything in the room aside from the bed and a small table that was bolted to the floor. She doubted that there was any way for her to rip it off the ground.

Then she spotted the three cards that sat on the table. Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon and Number 39: Utopia. Chris walked over to the cards, looking down at them.

"I'm sorry. I screwed up again." She said. "I… I keep dragging you into this."

She gently picked up her three cards. They didn't seem to react, but Chris could hear the cries of her dragons.

"I'll get us out of this one though, I-"

Chris realized she wasn't alone in the room anymore as her shadow changed direction. She whipped around, only to be nearly blinded. There was a glowing orange light in the corner. Chris could only barely make out an outline of a person.

"What… who are you?" Chris asked.

The figure didn't respond, merely putting a hand down on the table nearby. To Chris's surprise, there was a flash of light, leaving a crimson Duel Disk on the table; one she recognized.

"My normal Duel Disk! How did you-?"

The orange light faded away, and she was gone. Chris stood, staring at what had just happened, before reaching and grabbing her Duel Disk. She slid it on and turned on the power, the red blade coming to life, glowing. She smiled. She stopped using this ever since Solomon's Duel Disk, so it was nice to have the familiar feeling on her wrist.

"I don't know what that was… but thank you." Chris said.

She reached into a hidden pocket in her clothes, pulling out a deck of cards.

"Now… let's get the hell out of here. Dark Rebellion!"

Ryoko was still checking the cards and broken Duel Disk, humming to herself before the lights started to flicker. There was a loud explosion in the distance, as the entire HQ shook.

"Oh… oh dear." Ryoko fixed her glasses. "This might be a bit violent…"

"How are you handling things, Tachibana?" Tsubasa asked, as she pulled to a stop.

Hibiki was holding onto Tsubasa's shoulders on the back of the D-Wheel. She was breathing heavily from the thrill ride.

"If this is too much for you, we can stop." Tsubasa said.

"N-No. I can do this." Hibiki said. "Full force, Tsubasa-san!"

"If you think you can handle it." Tsubasa said, before tightening her grip on the handles. "Let's rev it up."

As they kept speeding on the track, Hibiki's deck had a faint glow on one of the cards.

They were both so into the ride, that they didn't realize their phones were ringing.

Miku was walking down the street on her way back to the dorm when she received the call. "Yes?"

"Miku-chan, we have an issue." Tomosato reported. "Chris-san has escaped."

"Huh?!" Miku stopped walking. "How?!"

"We're not sure ourselves." Tomosato admitted. "Hibiki-chan and Tsubasa-san aren't picking up, so we need you to take care of this."

"She busted through!" Fujitaka's voice shouted, as there was an explosion and the line went dead.

"Tomosato-san! Fujitaka-san!" Miku shouted.

She got no response, and put her phone away.

She took out her D-Gazer, putting it on. "D-Gazer, set!"

The holographic cards appeared in front of Miku, and she tapped one of them.

"Come on, Destiny HERO - Dogma!"

The devil-like hero materialized, lowering itself to one knee. Miku hopped onto her warrior's back, looking around.

"Back to HQ, Dogma!"

Her Dogma flew towards the direction, as there was another explosion in the distance.

Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon had smashed through multiple walls, as well as any Sector Two employees that tried to get in the way. Chris was on the back of her dragon, only a few steps away from freedom, with only two employees left in her path.

"Get out of the way if you don't want to get hurt." Chris said. "I'll only warn you once."

"You know, maybe we should get out of the way, Tomosato." Fujitaka said.

"Fujitaka!" Tomosato said.

"Just a suggestion!" He said. "But I guess this is part of our job."

The two of them activated their Duel Disks, and summoned a monster each. Why they did so, they didn't know, but something compelled them to try and summon their monsters.

"Take flight, Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale!" Tomosato called.

"Let's fly, Blackwing Armed Wing!" Fujitaka shouted.

Tomosato had summoned a harpie-like creature with beautiful feathers. Fujitaka on the other hand, summoned a humanoid monster in black armor, carrying a speargun. The summoned monsters didn't seem to be lifeless, and had spirit in their eyes.

"Can't believe that worked…" Fujitaka said, surprised.

"How did you summon the monsters properly?" Chris asked, a bit impressed.

Aoi looked at her card in awe. How indeed… Fujitaka and I never showed this capability, but why did it work now…?

"Black Charge!" Fujitaka called.

"Wings of Change!" Tomosato shouted.

The two Winged Beasts charged, but Chris pulled out another card.

"Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon!"

The birds stopped their charge as the glowing dragon materialized and roared.

"Let me show you some real attacks!" Chris said. "Lightning Disobey of Rebellion! Photon Stream of Destruction!"

Dark Rebellion shredded Assembled Nightingale with its sharpened jaws, while Galaxy-Eyes obliterated Armed Wing in a single blast. Both Tomosato and Fujitaka shouted as they were swept aside and knocked into the wall.

"Hmph. You're just beginners. You can't compare to me." Chris scoffed as she looked down at them. "I'm out of here."

Chris briefly considered blasting her way out, but she had enough for one day. Instead, she took the more mundane option and stepped into the elevator, which was surprisingly large enough for her dragons. It shot upwards at a tremendous speed, but took long enough for Chris to think about her next move.

She hesitated. What next move? There wasn't anywhere for her to go. She lost the deck she had been lent. No doubt she'd get punished for that. At least she had a warm bed here. She should've probably thought twice before blasting her way out. She stepped out of the elevator, running down the halls until she was outside. She hopped onto Dark Rebellion's back, as the two dragons quietly growled in concern.

I don't have anywhere to go… what do I-?

"Death Chronicle!"

A blast of purple energy obliterated Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon. Chris whipped her head around for the culprit. Miku was flying towards her, on Destiny HERO - Dogma's back. While Dogma circled around, she tried to contact Sector Two via her D-Gazer's communicator.

"Tomosato-san! Fujitaka-san!"

There was nothing but static. Miku's hand dropped from her D-Gazer, as she clenched her fists. Dark Rebellion had taken to the air, as Chris grit her teeth and stared Miku down.

"You're the idiot's friend…" Chris recognized. "What are you-?"

"DEATH CHRONICLE!"

Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon barely dodged another blast, as Miku nearly shot the two out of the air.

"Crap!" Chris shouted. Dark Rebellion spread its wings and flew, but Miku and Dogma were hot on their tail.

"What did you do?!" Miku shouted. "What did you do to them?!"

Dogma fired multiple blasts at Dark Rebellion, but the dragon dodged every one of them. The city was passing below them at incredible speeds. Miku had Dogma slow down on the blasts, as she tried to get a lock on Chris.

"Now!"

Dogma fired the blast, and it was sure to hit Dark Rebellion in the back.

But then to her surprise, Chris jumped from Dark Rebellion, entering a free fall as the dragon dodged out of the way again. Dogma entered a dive to chase her, as Chris pulled out another card.

"Utopia!" She slammed it onto her Duel Disk.

The warrior appeared in a flash of light, grabbing her out of the air as they descended. They landed on a bridge that ran high over a large river. Dark Rebellion swooped down next to its master, roaring at Miku as she and Dogma landed on another end of the bridge.

"What did you do to them?!" Miku demanded again, as she got off her monster.

"I defeated them and booked it." Chris said. "It wasn't that hard."

We shouldn't have let her keep some of the cards. That was our first mistake. Miku thought, before holding up her Duel Disk.

Dark Rebellion roared out at her again. Miku remembered that Hibiki had said Chris's monsters were crying when she dueled. But now… that roar wasn't of sadness, it was one of a loyal monster ready to fight for its master. Utopia was silent, but had his arms crossed, standing ready as well.

They're not sad… they're just like our cards now. Miku realized.

But even then, she had to bring her back.

She activated her Duel Disk.

"So this is how we're gonna do it, huh?" Chris said. "Fine by me."

Dark Rebellion and Utopia both disappeared, as did Dogma. Chris and Miku both activated their D-Gazer's duel mode. While Chris's eye scanner started to glow, Miku's visor clamped shut, glowing with a zig-zag pattern.

"D-Gazer, set!" They both shouted, drawing 5 cards each. "Let's duel!"

A/N: OFFICIAL SYMPHOGEAR GX ENG SUB BLU-RAY ANNOUNCEMENT, BABY!

Ahem, sorry about that. Onto the author's note.

For those wondering, Tsubasa's D-Wheel is a blue version of Yusei's. I'm also using the Japanese terms; so D-Wheel over Duel Runner, as well as Riding Duel over Turbo Duel. The only dub based content will be the card names themselves.

Another thing I should mention is that I will not be changing the duel writing style. While some prefer seeing the stats and traits of the monsters in bold, I'd rather not do that since I think it kind of kills the tension in the duel. It's the same reason I'm not adding images into the AO3 version of the fic. I'll be keeping the writing style akin to other Yu-Gi-Oh! crossover stories like Dueling Trigger Finger and Strawberry Crisis (check those out when you have the time by the way. The latter is full of lesbians like this fic).

And next time, we have another duel! Miku vs Chris! Who'll win this clash that never happened in S1 canon?

Feel free to leave a review. See you all next time.
