Chapter 11: Trouble, thy name is Colette
Star was frozen in spot, as she was still processing the recent development of the current situation.
That this lousy, rotten, arrogant, pig-headed, haughty ghost girl before her...is her lousy, rotten, arrogant, pig-headed and haughty stepsister!
Starlight was still frozen in place, and Colette got annoyed by her silence, thinking that she was ignoring her.
"HEY! Stop ignoring me, you half-wit! Unless you've just realized that you've finally met your better and are at a loss for words..."Colette said, smirking darkly as she bragged about herself.
Star snapped out of her shock as she realized that she has a dire situation and a psychopath to deal with. She took in a deep breath and stared down her enemy.
"I don't know how you got powers, but you're gonna regret using them on people and antagonizing me..."Star said, flying at her with her leg swinging.
Colette ducked in time, barely avoiding her knee. Infuriated that someone tried to hit her, Colette swung a punch. However, her punch was swung wildly and her fist was poorly done as her thumb was inside. Star caught in time and twisted her hand, making Colette wince in pain.
"OUCH! How dare you hurt me!..." She whined as she swung her hand to soothe the pain.
Star heard this and rolled her eyes at her whining.
"Are you serious?! You just tried to hit me, of course I'll fight back! Heck, I didn't even hit you, I caught your sad little punch. It's not my fault that you're such a terrible shot. You clearly have no experience in real fighting, so you picking a fight with me is your poor choice..." Star pointed out.
"I'll show you a poor choice! Prepare to be defeated!..."Colette said, punching her fists out, ecto-rays were fired at full blast, jetting at the girl.
Starlight tried to block, but it was too late as the attack met before she could react. The next thing she knew, almost a couple to a dozen trees broke the push-back. Starlight was starting feel pain for the first time since she regained her ghost powers.
She didn't like that, while the new villainess kept acting cocky.
"HA! That was for daring to harm such a one of a kind treasure, such as myself..."Colette said, cackling with overconfidence.
The blonde heroine got back up and dusted herself off. She got angry.
"Okay, now that was almost as shocking as finding out that this ghost is Colette...this just made getting powers scarier..."Star said, holding up her fist.
"Then again... on the plus side is her trying to kill me with these powers means Mom's not around to stop me from fighting back and I do get to hit Colette without any negative repercussions..."She mentally added, before she recovered and tried to fight back.
Star smiled as she cracked her knuckles, beckoning the new target for a butt whooping. The inexperienced Colette took the bait, trying to hit her with a blast.
Star used her agility to avoid a flurry of blasts by zipping from side to side, giving her a chance to come in and uppercut Colette, sending her back.
"You savage!..." Colette said, rubbing her face and glaring daggers at her foe.
"Says the girl picking a fight with someone who has way more experience. Why not go take up a class on how to at least make a proper fist?..." Star questioned with a mocking tone.
The spoiled brat growled at that. She responded by screaming out of frustration and charging up with red colored ghost energy with both of her hands.
She pulled back her arms, charging her attack.
"You have no idea how long I have wanted to do this!..."Colette said, as she sent another blast to the ghostly heroine, who raised an ecto-shield to block it.
The blonde heroine then shifted both her ecto-shield and herself out of red blast's range and charging up a green ghost ray of her own with only one hand. She took aim quickly.
"Funny, I was going to say the same thing..."Starlight said as she aimed an ecto-blast straight at her rotten step-sister's face, hitting Colette square on.
"AHHH!..."The brat screamed.
The new villainess was completely caught off guard as she never did learn how to dodge attacks, since she never once thought that she ever needed too.
She cried out in anger before recovering and frowned. Now wanting nothing than to get rid of the half ghost blonde with her own two hands, she lost her temper.
"How dare you try to leave a scratch on my perfectly flawless complexion?! I will make you suffer more than I intended to before!..."She said, as she quickly tried to shorten to gap between them, only for Star to easily fly out of the way and make her miss.
Starlight rolled her eyes at that, as she was fighting someone who had no idea how to actually fight back, at least not against someone who had no qualms going all out in a fight. If anything, this felt more like dealing with a spoiled, whiny child that's throwing a tantrum. The only difference is her mother wasn't around to stop her from hitting her.
"HOLD STILL, SO I CAN END YOUR MISERABLE LIFE OR AFTERLIFE OR WHATEVER YOU DISGUSTING CREATURES CALL IT!..."Colette shouted, as she kept trying to hit Starlight with her pent up anger, but Star, being more experienced, just dodged with barely much effort.
"Yeah, I don't think so. You're barely a threat to me..."Starlight sarcastically while the villainess snarled and huffed as hard as she could.
The blonde heroine was getting irritated, finding Colette less threatening each second.
"Even with powers, she's still a narcissistic maniac and totally useless in a fight. Oh well, time to show her that experience beats brute force..."She muttered before flying in and tackling her to the ground.
She then smirked.
"Still, I'm about to get years worth of payback here. Looks like Santa delivered my Christmas gift super early this year..."She thought, trying to hide her excited smirk.
The two females fought once more, although it was clearly a one-sided fist fight as Star was battling Colette easily. But Colette was not giving any openings as she flew over, locked and loaded with charging orbs of pure ectoplasmic energy.
Each shot, however, was easily avoided as Star just twirled around them.
Colette once again tried to punch, only for Star to bob back to avoided it and knee her in the stomach before elbowing her in the chest. As Colette snarled, Star smirked as happily as she could.
"Super cathartic... I've waited years to do that..." She thought, feeling pleased right now.
Colette once again tried to punch, pulling her arm back, only for Star to punch her as she got close enough. It was now that she noticed Colette swung her arm, but the rest of her upper body remained stationary.
Star felt just generous enough to give her spoiled step-sister some helpful advice on how to actually fight in her own unique way.
"Never been hit by someone your size before, at least not by someone with REAL power, huh? You've got to turn with the punch to reduce-..."She didn't have time to finish saying that Colette would do a better job of making herself less of an easier target as Colette tried to hit her.
Star demonstrated a better example, by turning her upper body and head with her punch to her face, increasing speed and protecting the side of her face. Colette pulled back, gasping in shock and anger.
"Better. Well, at least for me that is, I just hoped that you learned something..." Star said in a condescending tone, gesturing to her own arm to demonstrate her form.
Colette was now fuming with anger, so much that her entire face almost turned crimson at that moment. Almost as red as her eyes and hair.
"Give up, you savage! You are no match for..." Colette said, before she paused for a moment. "... Whatever I am now!..."She said, not caring enough to correct herself.
The blonde female merely rolled her eyes, as she decided to be the one to tease her and pick a fight without realizing how outmatched she was.
"Okay... Captain Snob, or whatever you want to call yourself... you're clearly new to this. So... why not just go back home and agree to never try this again and you don't have to be humiliated any more? You clearly have no experience in fighting and you clearly haven't mastered them for practical use. You gotta use it sparingly and when you have the best-..."
Star didn't finish as she was blasted by an increasingly angry Colette, sending her flying down into a dumpster.
"Keep your trash talking to yourself, blonde fool! I will destroy you!..."Colette said, happy that her dirty trick worked.
The ghostly villainess was pleased that she finally got a hit in on her blonde enemy as she noticed how her felt simmering and glimmered after shooting that blast out of pure rage.
She smirked as she felt energy in her very hands. She didn't know how that worked, but she was not complaining, though she had her own theories.
"I see, my anger made me stronger, huh?…"Colette grinned to herself, watching her smoldering hands.
"I'll admit that I still don't understand what is going on, but again I simply don't care. With these powers, nobody can stop me. And since Starlight is…out of it? Feh! I do not do these quips. And besides, it is time to take what is rightfully mine…"She said, as she went down to her opponent.
Star had gotten out of the dumpster and phased off the trash.
"Lucky shot, but-..."Starlight didn't even get to finish, before a knee connected with her face.
"Got you!..."Colette said, while the blonde frowned before she sent an ice blast, hitting the brat in the gut and sending her flying a few free.
"Got you back..."She said, smirking while Colette snarled angrily.
The spoiled brat refused to give up. Her hand made a chopping motion and, as she swung downward, created a blade-like construct that Star barely managed to avoid in time.
As she avoided the blade by a hair, she turned to her rival in shock.
"How did you do that?!..."Star demanded, since she wasn't that familiar with that ghost ability yet.
"I don't know..." Colette admitted genuinely, shrugging.
Star frowned, not liking this.
"Well, you won't have another-..."Star was about to fire back, but her opponent acted first.
Colette fired at her again, only for something else to be unleashed. A red, goop-like substance that encased Star and made her fall to the ground.
"What the heck is this?! Even Danny can't do this!..."The blonde heroine said in dismay.
As Star struggled to get out, Colette laughed mockingly.
"How fitting. You have never looked better..."She said in a condescending tone.
Starlight glared at her.
Colette just kept smirking. While she could destroy her here and now, but there was someone else whom she wanted to see right now.
"As much as I enjoy zis... I do have other priorities..." Colette said before turning around. "It will be... Magnifique! Hmm... Le Magnifique... I think I have found my... costumed identity!..."She shouted, as she liked the sound of being called that.
While she still struggled to get out, Starlight heard this and rolled her eyes, not liking the sound of that.
"Seriously, Le Magnifique?! That's seriously the best that you could come up with?!..."She criticized.
Colette frowned at her upon hearing that.
"I definitely would've suggested "Le non distingué" and that's just from the top of my head. I will autoshop it..."She said with disinterest.
"That's workshop!..."Star said while the villainess ignored her.
"Oui. Now, have fun there. I have to be with the only one who deserves a goddess like myself..."Colette said, before she faced a familiar direction.
"Don't you you dare go!..." Star shouted as she pulled her arm out from the goopy substance and freed herself for another round.
As she pulled herself free, Star tried to stop her, but it was too late. It was only a few seconds, her newly empowered stepsister was gone in an instant and leaving her opponent and disaster behind in her wake.
The blonde heroine was silent for a moment, then uttered the one question that she wanted to ask after that whole ordeal.
"WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED?!..."Star shouted, still at a loss of what just happened.
She quickly shook off her confusion, then immediately started flying up for a bird's eye view to locate her rotten stepsister as fast as she can before she hurts someone.
She didn't see anyone in harm's way. Except for the fight scene, everything seemed intact. This dropped a stone in the girl's stomach, forcing itself up her throat in fear and disgust.
Colette was out there and no doubt going to use her powers for her own desires.
"Where did she go? Colette was never one to leave business unfinished…and it couldn't have ended with hitting me and leaving me in that gross, sticky stuff..."Star said, processing her thoughts.
However, it soon hit her.
Colette has powers now...and she's clearly not afraid to use them for bad or personal gain. She clearly had the means to try and take anything she wanted right now, even by force.
And there is only one place Star could speculate that her hated step sister would go to next. In the entirety of Amity Park, there was not much she desired...except one thing.
Her boyfriend!
"Oh no, DANNY!..."Star panicked, realizing that he's in danger right now.
She took off in the air, pulling out her cell phone and tried calling him. Fearing for the worse, she sped up, hoping she could reach his home before her step-sister/nemesis did.
She had a really bad feeling that things were going to get worse if she didn't pickup the pace and beat that maniac to Fenton Works.
"Please pick up and please let me get to him before the haunting harlot gets there!..."Star internally prayed as she hoped that Danny had his cellphone on him.
She felt worried as the phone's ring tone rang. For some reason, he didn't pick up and she was starting to fear the worst, and only imagining the kind of trouble that her evil, insane step-sister could cause.
There was no telling how low Colette could go, now that she had the power to break through the laws of physics and is willing to physically hurt someone to get what she wanted.
Even so, Star had powers too and she wasn't gonna let a mere witch threaten others or go near her boyfriend.
Not on her watch.
"If she so much as leaves one finger print on him, I'm sending whatever is left of her straight to the hospital! All black and blue!..."Star thought, eyes glowing in sheer intensity.
She kept flying to protect her boyfriend from the latest villain who is possibly the most vile one of them all.
Oh man.
With Danny
The ghost boy had finished his chores and had just finished the last of his homework.
Once done, Danny was in his bed room, resting after hustling with chores. Ghost powers or not, he had to wait till his mother got home and inspected everything with a rubber Fenton glove.
Anyway, he took a moment to finally get to his bed and relax. However, his thoughts had been elsewhere the entire time.
"I hope that Star is okay. I know she's happy, but we don't know how or why she got these powers. I just hope that they don't go when she's flying or anything..."Danny thought, walking to his window.
He gazed at the stars, wondering if his Starlight was one of them. Cheesy? Yes. But it showed how highly he thought of her.
He almost wanted to morph so that he could go looking for her. However, that was when he saw something like a small comet come over.
"Star?…"Danny said, as he watched with a concerned face.
However, he was so distracted, that he never noticed his phone going off, being called by his girlfriend. Nor did he noticed a text reading "PICK UP, URGENT!" on it.
The figure did not stop as she phased through the wall, stopping mid flight before landing with a predatory pose, flipping her hair with one hand.
"What the?!..."Danny exclaimed and turned around to see someone phase into his room.
He saw that it looked to be a girl around his age, with unnatural blood red hair, eyes that were completely red, as well as a very extravagant and gaudy yellow and orange outfit that was also sparkling.
She would have been beautiful had she not had a smug look on her face. Danny didn't care. He just glared at the person who just broke into his bedroom.
"If you're here for a fight, you came to the right place!..."Danny said, as the intruder began to hover closer.
The mysterious figure just kept smirking at him, almost as if she knew him personally.
"Who...are you?..."Danny demanded, figuring this is the time the villain introduces themselves and he'd rather know her name before he wipes floors with her smug face.
Both figuratively and maybe literally.
After the mysterious new villain kept eyeing him as if he was some sort of shiny object, she spoke up.
"Greetings…I am the magnificent, marvelous, Mademoiselle Déesse. I have come to fulfill your destiny…"She said dramatically, bowing gracefully.
In contrast to her smile, the ghost boy was not happy to see her as she was to see him.
"My destiny?! What are you talking about? I don't know you!..."Danny said, taking a step back as things were getting really weird right now.
Colette heard this and decided to play with him a bit, before she got serious.
"Of course you do, for I am your future..."Mademoiselle Deesse said, landing on his floor.
Danny blinked. This girl seemed familiar but he didn't know where yet. He also had no idea about what she was referring to.
"My future? I don't know what you're talking about..."He said, wondering if this is someone who came to challenge him or this is some sort of future descendant of his that came here out of obsession or something, though he was unsure if that was the case or not.
The girl, whoever, just kept smirking as she looked at him.
"I am talking about us...as I am sure you can see how irresistible I am like this..."The female said, sounding full of herself as she suddenly struck a pose she were in front of some paparazzi with cameras.
"Excuse me?..."Danny asked, frowning.
"Your luck has changed for the better..."She said, as she offered her hand in an almost friendly manner, despite the look in her eyes seemed demanding.
Danny glared at the intruder who appeared in his room, without warning or any care. He was already disliking this person and her attitude. For all he knew, this was a ploy, a trap, or anything to trick him, but this superhero would not fall for such easy bait.
He just settled for glaring at this weirdo, and planning to stuff her in the thermos as soon as possible. The dark haired boy then pounded his fist into his hand.
"Okay, that's enough, Miss Dice or whatever you just called yourself. I don't know what kind of game you think we're playing, but I'm cutting it short right here..."The ghost boy said, irritated as he cracked his knuckles.
"Now before I kick your butt, why are you interrupting my thoughts and break from chores?..."Danny sassed crouching to transform, ready to go ghost and take this weird girl down.
However, before he morphed...the figure just giggled and Danny found it eerily familiar...and not in a good way.
"Oh, Mon Amore, you really are daring...then again...I suppose that would be a fine quality..."The figure said, showing off a familiar smirk and predatory eyes...ones that the ghost boy knew all too well.
He was astounded, as it finally hit him like a ton of bricks.
"That voice...that giggle...that stupid, unwanted pet name...that flashy fashion...no, it can't be! COLETTE?!..."Danny exclaimed as he sprang up straight, realizing why her presence bothered him.
"As ze Americans say, in zee flesh..."She said, gesturing to herself.
"W-W-Wha?..."He went in response, as the ghostly female kept smirking at him.
"You really could not recognize me, could you, Mon Amore? Zhen again, I suppose zhat this suit does make me less recognizable... but I think zhat I make it look good..."She said, spinning around to present herself further.
"Not how I'd put it..." Danny muttered, as he got a bad feeling about this.
Colette, on the other hand, didn't notice or care for his discomfort. She just struck another pose as if she was modeling at a photo shoot or something.
"So, how do you like my new look, Darling? Though this…name, I'm not sure is enough for me. I am a déesse, a goddess, but maybe I should choose something more to my status..."Colette said as she flaunted her bodysuit and powers, circling the boy.
Danny was floored by this, not only by her powers but how she compared herself to a deity.
Life just threw him a sucker punch that he almost punched back. And as much fun as that sounds, that meant the ghost boy would have to pay this close to the chest. He had to hide that he could defend himself.
"So... is that really you?..." He asked, pretending to be scared.
"Indeed. I am..."She said, acting coquette and cocky at the same time as she even took off her mask to reveal her face to him, confirming the facts.
The ghost boy did not like this, to say the least.
"Wow…I'm scared now, but ignoring the total justified reason why of that and the totally "modest" name you chose, HOW THE HECK DID YOU GET POWERS?!..."Danny shouted as he flailed his arms.
"Who knows? And who cares? I feel magnifique and ready to conquer the world..."Colette said as she placed her mask back on, flying in circles once more.
"But for now, I just feel...like spending time with you..."She said in a hinting tone, a nasty smirk on her face.
Danny soon realized that he is in a different kind of danger here and one where he could not transform and pummel the bad guy, at least not right now.
He felt a cold sweat start to run down his forehead. It was like one of his scariest nightmares had somehow come true. Why? Because if Colette knew Fenton and Phantom were the same, to say the consequences were undesirably devastating was an understatement.
Her having powers also made things much more complicated for him, and he can't fight her back without risking exposing himself.
So, he was currently stuck between a rock and a hard place, even if this brat didn't know it yet.
He chose to keep his poker face on, and tried to think of an escape.
"This is bad…this is really, really bad…"Danny said, as he backed away carefully as the super powered girl then approached him almost instantly.
"Isn't this wonderful, Mon Amore?…"Colette said, as she now had her head out of the clouds and focused on the ghost boy. "Now, we can be alone and together without Estelle getting in zee way..."She said with desire in her tone.
Danny didn't like the sound of that. He panicked, as he could only imagine the worst case scenario.
"What did you do to Star?!..."He shouted, immediately worried about her.
"Nothing...yet. I decided that I would deal with that annoying Starlight first before I move on to her, after we had some fun together that is..."Colette said with disinterest.
"What'd you do to her?..." Danny asked, doing his best to continue his act of being scared, while trying hide how truly angered he was to avoid revealing anything.
"I managed to knock her away, but I suspect she will come for me soon. So... we should speed things up..."She said, as she sent a sly grin at the dark haired boy, along with a playful wink.
"Uh...no thanks!..."He said, as he kept stepping back, furious at Colette mentioning harming Star without any hint of remorse in her tone.
"I was not asking. And I think zhat it would be in your best interest to consider playing along with me, my love..."She said, the look in her eyes betraying her smile, trying to sound captivating and threatening at the same time.
Danny, unable to change into his ghost form right now, tried to run but Colette blocked him and grabbed him by the arm.
"Mon Amore, we are not done talking yet!..."Colette said, sounding like a command.
The ghost boy pulled away and responded by grabbing a lamp and flinging it at her, hoping to distract her and make an escape. Colette merely rolled her eyes and frowned before using telekinesis to move it out of the way and keep him from escaping.
"Now darling, that wasn't nice. Let's go some place and we can...talk in private..."Colette said, wanting more than to talk with him.
"So not happening!..."Danny said as he tried to pull out but he was too late.
Colette grabbed him and pulled him up. She grabbed him by the shoulders in a tight grip, lifting him off the ground.
"Let's have a talk, shall we?..."Colette said as she became intangible and soon flew out of his room, carrying the kicking and screaming boy with her and holding him close.
"How do I get out of this without her finding out?!..." He thought, trying to plan a way to get free.
Outside
Misty, having a bad feeling and also wanting to find out for sure if that was who she thought it was, went in the direction she saw the figure go.
She headed towards Danny's house, using her magic to speed up the process.
"This is ridiculous! There is no way that ghost could be who I think it is!..."She thought, just wanting some peace of mind and to free herself of guilt.
She arrived to the street where Fenton Works was and recognized her crush's house due to that large sign. She then began to fear her suspicions were true.
"Please be a coincidence and a case of paranoia. Please be a coincidence and a case of paranoia, please be-..."Misty thought as she saw something proved her hopes were wrong.
"LET ME GO!..."Someone screamed.
"Never again, Mon Amore!..."Another voice declared, sounding arrogant.
Looking up, Misty gasped in absolute horror when she saw that weird ghost girl from earlier phasing out of the Fenton household walls and was now in the air...and she was carrying someone who she clearly wanted in her arms.
Someone who holds a very special place within the teenage sorceress's heart, to say the least.
"Wait...is that Danny?!..."Misty exclaimed in horror as she saw that her crush was being kidnapped.
"I'm telling you to put me down, right now!..." Danny demanded, as he struggled to break free.
"Poor choice of words, given where you are..."The ghostly female said, gesturing to the ground.
They were about 50 feet in the air, something the villainess wasn't afraid to remind him. Danny remained silent, knowing he had no way out of this without revealing himself.
Colette then giggled, thinking that she had the upper hand here.
"Come my prince, we have such a wonderful date to get too..."She declared, while the boy of her dreams just sent her a dirty glare.
"Over my dead body!..."Danny said as he kept struggling.
"Once again, poor choice of words..."Colette said, eyes glowing as a threat.
Danny hated this, but he was between a rock and a hard place and he knew it.
"I gotta find a way to get out of this!..."He thought, while Colette smirked, thinking that she has won.
"Come now and embrace destiny, Mon Amore..."She said, dragging her hostage to some place more "romantic".
Misty was horrified upon recognizing that voice and saw that arrogant ghost girl. She also heard how she was referring to Danny and it suddenly hit her like a ton of bricks.
"It's that brat with the fake red hair. She's got powers now?!..."Misty said, questioning this development.
"But that's impossible! How could this have happened?!..."She asked herself, as she tried to rack her brain to come up with a reasonable answer.
She soon recalled the necklace and came to a conclusion. She was then hit with the shocking realization.
She recalled the spoiled brats wish from earlier...and how much of a huge coincidence it is that a new ghost villain appeared around the same time...one who looks eerily similar to that spoiled brat now that she thought about it.
"No way! It couldn't...my magic couldn't have done that...could it?!..."She thought, feeling dread as her entire body suddenly felt shaky as the reality sunk in.
Misty, feeling shaken, stared at her necklace, which was still glowing...the same kind of aura that the new ghost villain was emitting.
She couldn't deny it anymore. She realized that this had to have been the result of that wish...one that HER magic had granted.
"Oh no, I really did it this time!..."She said, as she recalled how awful that brat was...and that Danny is now in her clutches.
"I have to do something!..."She thought, decided to put that aside and focus on what was happening now.
She tried to pull out her spell book to find a spell to save Danny.
"I gotta save him before that maniac does anything crazy. There is no way I am letting that brat lay a hand on him!..."She said as she ran to follow them, using her magic to keep up with them.
However, before she even came close to finding a spell to help fix her newest mistake, someone beat her to it.
"LET HIM GO, YOU BAGUETTE BRAINED BRAT!..."Was shouted, followed by a blast that singed Colette's hair, much to her ire.
The teen sorceress saw this, stopped and gasped.
"What? I didn't send that, so who did?!..."Misty thought, baffled yet relieved by this new development.
She looked up and then saw who it was that fired.
"Starlight Spirit..."She whispered as she saw who came to rescue Danny.
And she looked pretty PEEVED to say the least.

4) Looks like it.
5) Maybe.
6) I will think about it.
7) It's a little of both.
8) Yes.
Pokemon fan 1991:Thank you :)

JDF Legacier Morphicon: Thank you :)
Here are my responses to your questions:
1) I see Danny and Vlad as examples of how power changes people. Danny had been tempted by his power before, but stayed a good person and in the end, had his happy ending with his friends and family. Vlad on the other hand, let his own power corrupt him and push others away, and in the end, he was left with no one and nothing.
2) I think Sam would be less tense, since she'd have a parent who accepted her for who she was.
3) I think he was always a ghost, or a spirit.
4) I like his parrot form best.
5) Yes, he would.
:) I hope you enjoyed this! Remember to read and review :)
