Chapter 14: The hangry heroine, the guilty sorceress and an uneasy truce
Valerie, Jazz, Sam and Tucker were still trying to track Colette down. They checked out Polter Heights, but she wasn't there. So, they split up to check out her usual hang outs and any place that brat may be.
"Any sign of her?..."Valerie asked as she used the Fenton Phones to communicate with the others.
"She's not at the mall or any fancy stores. Not even at that fancy spa resort either..."Jazz said as she just finished calling from that place.
"She's not at the country club. I wish that I wasn't either..."Sam said in her usual way.
"She's not at any restaurants..."Tucker said, burping.
"Nice..."Sam said sarcastically, sounding grossed out.
"Not the time. Keep looking and don't stop. Don't leave any stone unturned!..."Val ordered.
"Since when are you team leader?..."Sam snarked, as she did not like being told what to do by someone that's still new to their team.
"I heard that and I'm not even part of this team. I'm independent and I'm just helping for Star's sake. And I don't like that tone!..."Valerie said, annoyed and willing to get into a fight with her.
"Now's not the time for this! We've got way bigger concerns to deal with right now!..."Jazz, the TRUE second in command, said in annoyance.
"Sam, do as she says. Valerie, don't listen to her attitude and both of you knock it off!..."She ordered.
"Sorry..."Both Val and Sam said, hating that they're being told what to do but they didn't have time to complain about that.
They understood how high the stakes are and remembered that two people's lives are at stake.
"Be thankful someone needs us right now..."Sam said, holding off the argument for now.
All the while, someone else had an issue that wasn't related to their current problems.
"I don't have another Nasty Burger to keep be from getting bored. Thanks for much for that, Sam!..."Tucker said with some edge, being sarcastic in his gratitude, since he was angry at being denied his favorite food.
"You're welcome..."Sam said being equally sarcastic, knowing that she was in the right here.
"For someone who speaks in sarcasm, you don't seem to get it..." Tucker said.
"I do, that WAS sarcasm!..."Sam said, dropping her fake cheeriness.
"Well, thanks to you, I'm growing hungry..."The tech geek said, not really hungry but unhappy to get banned.
"I get you're hungry for burgers, but I'll have a knuckle sandwich ready for you!..." Sam warned.
Tucker flinched, afraid Sam would come after him right now.
"Enough you two, we don't have time for this! Get into another feud later. We gotta rescue my little brother and Star!..."Jazz said, as she ordered to keep looking.
"Roger that..."Val said, as she kept soaring to find that spoiled brat with powers causing trouble and give her the beating that she deserves.
Little did they know it will be a while, or that Colette already found them.
5 minutes later
Team Phantom kept looking and found nothing, much to their frustrations.
"Ugh! How hard is it to find a bratty girl with an ego the size of Texas?!..." Sam thought in irritation after she decided to stop to lean on a street light for a break.
Sam found herself at the movie theater as she noticed Tucker nearby.
"Tucker, any luck?..."Sam said, after noticing him walking out of it.
"Uh... hi. Colette's not here either..." Tucker went, realizing he's been caught and tried to hide what he had been holding.
"What's that behind your back?..."Sam asked, more like demanded.
Knowing that he was caught and unable to hide it, he sighed and revealed what it was. Sam saw that it was a bag of fast food in his hand and became angry.
Apparently he got "hungry" again and tried to sneak a quick snack, despite the situation that they were in.
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! We're in the middle of an emergency right now and how did you even managed to get that?! I explicitly told them not to accept ANY orders from you, including delivery!..."Sam said, upset and surprised that he still somehow managed get himself food from Nasty Burger.
"I know! It was really hard to get this! I had to use my backup cell phone, use a fake name and disguise myself to get this!..."Tucker said, while the goth girl sent him a furious look.
"Tucker, you seriously have a problem here!..."Sam said, stomping her foot.
"I do not!..."Tucker denied.
"Yes you do! Your stomach is the biggest beef processing plant on this side of the COUNTRY!..."Sam said, gesturing to his stomach.
"I'm actually proud to hear that, so... insult denied!..."Tucker retorted, trying to take a bite out of the burger but Sam wouldn't let him.
"Put down that bag and get back to finding Danny and Star!..."She ordered, pointing to the ground.
"You're not my mom! I'll put it down once I empty it!..."Tucker said, angering her even more.
"Drop it right now!..."The goth girl yelled.
Before Sam could grab that bag of food and get it away from him, they got a call from someone on Tucker's PDA. It was from Valerie, who was still searching from the air.
"Guys, we got a problem..."Val said.
"What's wrong?..."Sam asked, listening in while Tucker stopped trying to eat for the time being.
"I tried calling Star and Danny to see how they are doing but no answer..."Val said, sounding on edge.
"That's no good..." Tucker went, putting the food back in his bag.
"No kidding..."Val muttered.
"We better talk to Jazz too..."Sam responded.
"I'll add Jazz to the group call, I caught her up to speed..." Valerie said.
After adding Jazz to the phone conversation and explaining what had happened, they all tried to call them too and received no answer.
Not a good sign.
"No answer, you don't think that Colette got to them?..."Jazz asked, worried.
"We're gonna have to assume so..."Sam said, tapping her foot impatiently.
"Let's find out..."Val said, gesturing for Tucker to hurry.
"And we all need to double down on what we're going to do to my so-called future sister-in-law too..."Jazz said, ready to make that brat pay.
Tucker pulled out his PDA and track down their missing friends.
"I can't see Danny's location for some reason, his phone must be off or something. But it says here that Star is not far from here. She's just a few blocks from that new pizza shop..."Tucker said.
Sam frowned
"I knew it, you did microchip our phones!..."She accused, pointing angrily at him.
"Sam, not the time. You can pummel him later..."Jazz said before hitting the gas pedal.
"Let's go..."Val said, speeding up.
Team Phantom and Valerie soon headed to the location on Tucker's PDA, hoping that Star is alright and away from Colette.
"Star, we're coming..."Val said, worried about her best friend and sped up without hesitation.
Elsewhere
At an undisclosed location.
"Mrrr..."Was heard.
Misty hissed in pain as she slowly regained consciousness and shook her head to regain vision.
"Ugh...what hit me?..."She muttered, grabbing her head and reaching for her stomach.
"And why does it feel like someone was playing soccer with my entire body?..."She added as she slurred.
It was then that her memory came back and hit her as hard as the injury did. She gasped in a panic.
"Oh man, Danny?!..."She said in worry as she recalled what she had to do.
She tried to get up but hissed again in pain as she held her stomach. She recalled how Colette kicked her and realize she kidnapped her.
"When I get my hands on that girl...I'm gonna tear her probably fake red hair out!..."She vowed, wanting payback in addition to saving her crush.
However, she then felt something by her foot, making her wince when she realized it felt like a head.
"I so hope that's not what I think it is..."She said nervously, assuming the worst.
"Ugggghhhhh..." She heard from it.
Misty turned around and saw Star was still passed out on the ground. She panicked when she saw this.
"Oh man!..."She said as she ran to her to see if she was alright.
She feared the worst but checked her pulse and was revealed.
"Thank goodness, she's alive..."Misty said, not wanting anything like that on her consciousness.
"Mrrr..."Star let out as her eyes slowly flickered opened as she made her way back to the land of consciousness.
Misty snapped her fingers to get her to awaken faster.
"Star, rise and shine!..."She said as she kept snapping her fingers to get her attention.
Star gripped her head and realized who it was who spoke to her.
"Misty, what are you doing here?..."She asked, having not seen her prior to getting knocked out.
Misty panicked and thought an excuse quick.
"I...uh...was taking a walk and saw you passed out here..."She lied quickly, darting her eyes away.
"What happened? Where are we?..."She muttered, turning her head.
However, it soon came back to her and she panicked.
"Oh man, Danny!..."She gasped at realizing who wasn't with her.
Misty felt a gnaw of guilt and horror.
"I... didn't see him..." Misty lied, while Star tried to get up but was having trouble balancing.
"Whoa, easy there!..."Misty said as she tried to help her keep balance.
"I don't have time to take it easy. I gotta find Danny..."Star said in a worried tone, but she was still a little out of it.
Before the two could keep talking, someone spotted them and rushed towards them.
"Star!..."Valerie said as she rushed to her on her jet sled while Jazz, Sam and Tucker arrived respectively in her car and on their scooters.
"Guys!..." Star went in relief.
Misty was shocked.
"What are they doing here? And she knows the red huntress?..."She thought, surprised to see her.
"What are you doing near that rundown shoe store?..." Valerie asked.
"That's where we are?..."Star thought before answering her question.
"Colette ambushed us, she knocked me out and she took Danny. I guess she wanted me to live long enough to see her win..."Star said, feeling embittered by the whole thing.
She tried to get up but quickly felt wobbly and lightheaded, starting to lose her balance.
"What's wrong?..."Val asked as she held her, but Star's stomach answered for her as it growled loudly.
"Uh..." Star went, knowing she'll figure it out.
"That wasn't me, just to be clear..."Tucker added, while the other girls sent looks to the blonde cheerleader in disbelief and one of them even seemed angry too.
"Oh, no you didn't! Please tell me that you didn't stop eating, Star! Are you kidding me?! I thought you learned the last time when you and Paulina tried to fit into those skinny jeans and you almost passed out that summer of 8th grade!..."Valerie said in an angry voice, crossing her arms as she scolded her.
"Val, Danny already chewed me out and this is the worst time to give me this..."Star said, clearly weak and it was showing.
"Fine... fine...but you can't stay like this..." Valerie said.
Tucker saw how weak Star was and knew that she was starving. He went to her and handed her his bag of Nasty Burger food. He had a triple cheeseburger with bacon and some chili cheese fries inside it, along with some onion rings too.
"Here, you need this more than I do..."He said, handing her the fast food.
"Well, I guess it's fortunate you went and got that..."Sam said as Star took the bag.
"We don't have time to eat-..."Misty was cut off as Star opened the bag and in less than a minute, quickly inhaled the bags contents like a vacuum with dust dust.
"Finally!..."Star said in relief as she scarfed down the food and didn't care how messy she looked.
Once she was done, she let out a sigh of relief and dropped the bag.
"Thanks Tucker, I really needed that..."Star said, as she wiped the grease and condiments from her lips, not caring about the stains on her shirt right now.
"Uh, no problem..."Tucker said, having not seen her eat that wildly since the after pageant dinner.
Misty was also taken back by how voracious her blonde rival was and felt uncomfortable.
"Uh...that's...quite the appetite..."She said, almost repulsed by how she had eaten.
"And Danny is into her?..."She thought, wondering what kind of tastes in women Danny really has.
Star got up and straightened her back.
"Okay, I'm feeling better now. Now, let's save Danny before Colette forces him to say "I do" by graduation..."Star said, ready to get payback.
"But what about your... situation?..."Sam asked, knowing how using powers on an empty stomach is dangerous.
"I just ate, I think I'll be fine..."Star said, patting her stomach.
"So, where is Danny?..." Jazz asks.
"Yeah, the tracking chip I put in his phone wasn't working, we had to rely on the one I put in your phone to find-..."Tucker was cut off when the blonde girl heard this.
"You put a tracking chip in my phone and his?..." Star interrupted him, sounding angry.
Seeing all eyes on him, none of them remotely happy, Tucker laughed nervously.
"For good reason! Honest! Like for times like THIS!..." He went before clearing his throat. "Anyway... I can't find him..."hE ADDED.
"Maybe I can help with that..." Misty said, getting their attention.
"Uh, no offense, but why is she here?..."Sam asked, pointing at Misty.
The dark haired girl got nervous and tried to come up with a believable excuse.
"Um...well, I'm an innocent bystander who was mining her own business and found Star passed out here..."Misty lied in a nervous way, sweat clear all over her.
"She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Anyway, we don't have any more time to waste, we gotta go..."Star said, raising her fist.
"Where? The police?..." Misty asked.
"They don't exactly handle issues like this. I mean that we gotta go find Danny and save him from that maniac..."Star said, before her eyes narrowed. "And knock her teeth out and force feed her hair to her until she ends up eating everything through a straw!..."She added, pounding her fist into her hand in anger.
Misty heard this and became worried.
"Wait...you're not actually going to take her on?!..."The dark haired girl asked, but all eyes were on her.
She realized her outburst and tried to explain herself.
"I mean...you guys just told me that Danny got captured by a ghost...aren't you guys...ya know, scared? I mean... It could be dangerous..."Misty said, trying to talk them out of this.
"If only she knew..."Jazz whispered while Star frowned.
"Believe me, the only one in danger is that witch once I get my hands on her. No one takes my man and gets to live without any bodily harm!..."Star said, wanting to get payback as soon as possible on her horrid stepsister.
Misty felt uneasy and feared for her safety.
"Come on, let's find Colette and tear her apart..."Star said, about to leave to track that lunatic down and save her boyfriend.
However, Misty blocked her.
"Star...no...you guys don't know what you are up against!..."She said, not wanting any more danger.
"Misty, move! I don't want to waste my frustration on you!..."Star said stubbornly, determined to save her Danny-Boo.
"No! Really! You guys can't just go running in guns blazing!..."Misty said, trying to be firm but Star pushed her back and made her almost fall.
"Misty, step aside right now!..."Star said, wanting to rescue Danny more than anything.
"I can't let anyone else get hurt!..."Misty thought, getting anxious and desperate with each passing second.
The continued pushing made the Chinese girl realized that nothing she said would get to the blonde and her friends.
"I mean it, I can't let you do this!..."Misty tried, getting on the blonde girl's nerves.
"You have nothing to do with this and you don't even know what is actually going on!..."Star yelled, unaware of the irony.
Misty was getting desperate right now.
"Star, please!..."The nervous girl said, panicking.
"Misty, I-..."
"I THINK I WAS THE ONE WHO GAVE COLETTE HER POWERS!..."Misty confessed loudly, making everyone stop in track.
The other teens were silent for a moment, not moving one inch as they processed the information that was just revealed to them.
Star was frozen in place before was Misty said got to her.
"What...did...you...say?!..."Star said in a low, soft way as her anger was building up.
Misty didn't realize yet as she opened her mouth to speak again.
"I said that I-..."Misty said, but gasped when she saw the kind of looks that she was getting from the other teenagers.
"Uh oh!..."She thought, as they surrounded her and she realized what she just let slip out.
"YOU GAVE COLETTE HER POWERS?!..."Sam said, her voice nearly deafening the other girl who covered her ears.
Misty cringed, but saw the angry looks she was getting and panicked.
"I didn't mean to! It was an accident! I didn't expect the wish to turn out like this!..."She said, before covering her mouth.
The other teens then went from angry to confused as they heard this, that she granted a wish.
"You granted a wish?!..."Star said in a low, suspicious tone as the other girl went pale now.
"Um...well...uh..."Misty stammered, sweating bullets right now.
"How the heck can you even grant wishes? You lost your memory of magic!..."Tucker said, before it all hit them.
Misty had a nervous look on her face as she stepped back and became paler as the other teenagers kept staring down on her.
"Misty...what did you do?!..."Star demanded, barely keeping her self control as her fists shook.
Seeing no escape, the young sorceress knew that she had to fess up to everything.
"Uh...well...you see...it's a funny story really..."Misty said nervously as they still sent her those glares.
"Tell us the truth right now!..."Star ordered.
"Starting with how you "regained your memory and access to magic"..."Sam said, as she and the others made sure to block any possible escapes.
Gulping hard and sweating, Misty felt like she was a crook being interrogated by a cop...and she was cracking.
"Okay...I...I...uh...sorta...kinda...pretended to have amnesia to stop Danny from hating me...and I... I kinda...used this magic necklace that grants wishes to...well...let's say...improve my chances with him but it only grants other people's wishes and didn't work out. Then I ran into that brat while she was sulking and she made a wish to...well...get rid both you...and Starlight Spirit...which kinda...sorta...accidentally gave Colette her powers for some reason...and well, that's what happened..."Misty said, laughing nervously as everyone' seemed to get angrier.
"Are you for real?!..."Jazz shouted.
"You tricked us and turned the biggest brat in town into that monster?! Are you insane?!..."Sam said, looking ready to deck her for that.
"Look, I'm sorry! I didn't mean for this to happen, I thought she wanted to make Star leave town, not put you in a body bag! I didn't know she was THAT crazy!..."Misty said, while Star slowly walked towards her while she was stammering her excuses.
"Misty..."Star's low voice sounded rathe terrifying right now.
Misty turned to her and in less than a second, a pair of hands gripped her neck and pulled her.
"ACK!..."Misty gasped out as Star was looking at her with pure fury and rage.
"YOU LOUSY LITTLE LIAR! YOU TRIED TO STEAL MY BOYFRIEND AGAIN AND YOU TURNED THE BIGGEST THORN OF MY SIDE INTO AN ACTUAL SUPERVILLAIN! I OUGHA BREAK YOU IN HALF!..."Star yelled as she shook the girl, while Jazz and Sam tried to pull her back.
"Star, let her go!..."Jazz said as tried to make her let go of Misty's neck.
"Yeah, we don't have any time to waste! We gotta find Danny and we can't do that if you're locked in a jail cell!..."Sam said as they made Star release the other girl.
Star reluctantly let her go and Misty took a much needed breath.
"My throat!..."Misty coughed out. "You could've killed me!..."She said, only to flinch when she saw the kind of look that Star was sending her.
It was the kind of look that would even make an adult nervous and wary of her presence. The blonde rich girl was glaring hard at the inept sorceress and pointed at her.
"Take away Colette's powers! NOW!..."Star said in a forceful way that made the other girl flinch and gulp before obeying.
Misty pulled out her spell book and necklace and tried to find a way to undo Colette's wish.
"I was planning on gathering ingredients to cast another spell, but I do have the option of a counter wish..."She said as she pulled out the necklace, thinking that it would be quicker and easier.
"I need someone to make a wish..."Misty said nervously, while everyone else looked impatient.
"I didn't write this book!..."She tried, while her rival rolled her eyes.
"Fine, I wish that Colette Bevier no longer had powers, Danny is freed from whatever trap she has him in and is here with us. Oh, and I wish that fake haired brat is covered in garbage and that she loses all her teeth and hair too!..."Star said impatiently.
Misty tried to caste the wish, but nothing happened.
"Huh?..."She let out, confused.
The other teens glared at her, especially her blonde rival.
"Where is MY boyfriend?!..."Star demanded, while Misty nervously checked her spell book.
She soon saw what was wrong and panicked.
"Uh oh..."She said.
"Uh oh? What's wrong?..."Sam said, sounding impatient as well.
"Uh...well...it sees that...well...um...a counter wish apparently takes a lot of magic to use...and I mean A LOT of magic. I...well...I kind of...used a lot of magic today and I am kind of...low on power for the time being...so...I...kinda...sorta...don't have enough power to grant that wish...at least for another 4 hours..."Misty said nervously while she tried to inch away from Star.
That was the last straw for the blonde girl who has had more than enough of this mess.
"YOU IDIOTIC LITTLE WITCH!..."Star shouted as she lunged at her, only to be held back by Sam and Valerie.
"LET ME AT HER! LET ME AT HER! I'LL TEAR HER ARMS OFF!..."Star yelled as she tried to reach for Misty again but the others tried to stop her.
"Star, calm down. You being hangry and attacking Misty isn't helping us!..."Tucker said, trying to keep her from causing bodily harm.
"I'M NOT BEING "HANGRY"! I'M GENUINELY THIS MAD!..."Star yelled at him, intimidating him with how loud she was yelling.
Misty was trembling at her anger, legs unable to stop shaking.
"Please don't hurt me..."She squeaked out, scared out of her mind.
"Star, I feel the same way you do but we gotta save Danny. Save all this for Colette..."Sam reminded, since that was the biggest issue here.
Despite how she felt, Star calmed down enough and took a deep breath, refraining from attacking Misty...for now.
"Fine. I have bigger troubles..."She said, knowing that rescuing her boyfriend is their number one priority here.
"Let me help..."Misty tried, getting looks from the others.
"Excuse me? What?!..."Star asked in a harsh tone.
"Look, I may be a little low on power, but I still have my spell book and I know another way to counter that maniac's wish. I just need a few things..."Misty offered, but she was met with distrustful stares.
"Why should we trust you?! This is all your fault!..."Star said, pointing at her in anger.
Misty cringed and felt guilty, but she knew she had to take responsibility.
"I know, but I know another way to stop that maniac and save Danny..."She said, but they still didn't look like they believed her.
She swallowed her fear down and tried to plead her case.
"I know that I messed up but let me fix this. Please. You know you need magic to defeat magic..."Misty pleaded, hoping they saw her point.
Team Phantom didn't seem like they trusted her but they also knew that they needed all the help that they could get right now.
"She is the only one here who knows magic and she knows a way that may be the only way to bring Colette down..."Tucker said, gesturing to Misty.
"She's also the one who caused this whole mess to start with!..."Valerie said in a distrusting tone.
"Yeah, and thus, she must know a way to break the spell..."Tucker said, stating his point.
"Please, let me do this and help save Danny. You know he needs help as soon as possible..."Misty said as she clasp her hands in a begging fashion.
Star was still glaring at Misty, wanting to stay angry but knew that would not help Danny.
"Fine...you can help..."Star said but kept a venomous tone.
"But if this backfires and Colette so much as touch ONE CELL on MY Danny-Boo, you're totally DUNZO, got it?!..."Star yelled as she pointed at her.
"And don't expect your little spell book to protect you forever, because you won't be able to run far enough or hide forever!..."The blonde girl warned, making her threat crystal clear.
Misty was shaking now and gulped nervously, nodding.
"She's...scarier than I remember..."She thought before opening her book.
"So, ideas?..."Star demanded, wanting to hear something.
"Ya got me..." Sam responded.
"I still can't track Danny on my PDA..."Tucker said as he shook it.
"Maybe I can find him. I think I have something in my spell book that can lead us to him..."Misty said as she looked for a specific spell in her book.
Star heard this and glared.
"You know a spell that can help you find MY boyfriend wherever he is?..."She asked in an accusatory tone.
Misty flinched.
"I swear...this is the first time I'm trying something like this!..."She said, but the others didn't look like they believed her.
"Using magic to track someone down and without their consent. Creepy..."Tucker muttered, and Misty got upset.
"Like YOU'RE one to talk! You're the one who asked for all my personal information after I said I'd see a movie with you!..."She shot at him.
Tucker frowned.
"At least I backed off when you turned me down and I didn't use creepy methods to make you go out with me or endanger someone!..."He fired back.
Jazz got between the two of them, keeping them at arm's length.
"We so don't have time for this!..."She said, impatient.
She then turned to Misty.
"Find my little brother, right now!..."She ordered, pointing at her book.
"I get the feeling that if I ever do end up dating Danny, I'm not gonna get along well with her..."Misty thought, before she continued with her spell.
After a moment of concentration, she managed to locate the spell.
"Come on..."She said as motioned them to join her outside.
"Don't worry, Danny. I'm on my way..."Star said, following Misty's lead for the time being.
"I just need something of his or something he touched recently in order to track him down. I can only use it for one hour and even after that I can't use the same item again for a whole day..." Misty said.
"I have a spare Fenton Thermos in my bag he gave me after emptying it… will they do?..." Sam asked.
"You carry those around with you at all times?..."Misty asked, only to get glares from the others.
"Right, stupid question..."She said, nervous.
"So, will this work or not?..."Star asked, wanting to save her boyfriend as soon as possible.
"One way to find out…"Misty said, as her eyes began to glow green as she began to concentrate on the spell.

1) I don't think so, since even after they "dated", Tucker grew to detest Star for being very bossy and treating him like a servant. Sure, he may find her physically attractive, but I don't think he is willing to date her again.
2) I think he used to be a prison warden who probably died on the job.
3) I don't think so. Even if Johnny found Jazz attractive, he is still malicious and I believe that Jazz could do better.
4) I find the scenes where Danny bonds with his family and friends to be relatable.
5) I haven't really thought about anyone in particular. Maybe Spike or The Beholder.
