Fifth Stop Sinnoh
Story time Sinnoh is the region I am the most familiar with and the first Pokemon game I beat I was around for the nineties pokemon heyday but after being unable to defeat Lance I played every Pokemon game and beat the eight gyms then I would reset it. And playthrough with a different team. So for whatever reason I decided to try to beat Sinnoh and my brother coached me through the Cynthia fight. Which means the post game areas really stood out in my mind therefore our protagonists camp out there.
Steven was barely touching his coffee, he had been for the past several days it was a little worrisome, first he had seemed preoccupied now he was glum. If the mood continued she would need to call him on it. Maybe he was unhappy with the Skarmory trade, hmm she wondered "Steven do you have Sinnoh on your pokenav? "Sure I vacation there all the time one of the few nice beaches too remote for my dad." She took the pokenav" experiencing a slight shiver of goose pumps up her arm Steven's hands were always cold. That was why he made her shiver. Wasn't it? "Aww a beach nice change of pace what harbor are we docking in? "Snow Point city." "Judging by the snow on the navigator that name is not ironic." She was pouting and it was pretty cute. "Bundle up like you did in Galar and we can take a skimmer out to the beach." "So I can leave my Ice heals at home then." She handed over the pokenav but not before memorizing where she could encounter Skarmory. Kahili, I have a villa there you can stay if you want otherwise you would have to brave the snow again. "Deal. " No longer pouting she looked at Steven with gratitude. Steven finally began to drink his coffee.
Later that day Steven is meeting with Armand, the head of the staff was adding his personal touch again. Steven had already complained to the employee in charge of booking dissatisfied Steven had taken his complaint up the chain of command. The crew chief seemed more relaxed Galar had been a popular stop and many guests had disembarked, this was the simplest part of the journey. "Is there anyway I can extend my stay till Alola? Money is no concern, Armand switched to French" Money is always appreciated but, I cannot we are filled completely for Alola. Our prices to travel there are comparable to the usual methods tourism is the main export there. We always book to compacity there unless you can convince a boarding passenger to trade there is nothing, I can do sir." "I see, then this discussion is over" Steven was at a lost at what to do he only had one option. I mean it was crazy extending his stay and paying exorbitant prices to do so. "Just to be with a girl for a little while longer a woman he had met on the trip. This was not something he would do for a friend it was official he had it bad. "With that thought he moved on to wander the ship. "
Steven was oblivious to what Armand had noticed Kahili was watching them from the upper deck. Armand had instructed the crew to switch to native tongues when they noticed the silver maiden wandering the deck, she seemed to be snooping. Luckily, on Steven's last trip Armand had noticed his French speaking ability. Being an internationally famous ship had some advantages a lot of their crew were fluent in multiple languages.
Kahili had been staring at Steven again, with her report for her father nearly finished she was able to treat the trip to Sinnoh more like a vacation. Including paying more attention to the eligible bachelors aboard Steven was by far the cutest, she would have been more honest with herself about it if they had not gotten off to the bad start with her Zubat. And now she was going to stay the night at his private beach house, practically jumped at the chance. If only he would be honest with her about what was on his mind. "It was time to be honest back and answer the question that had been rattling around in her head since he asked it. "Okay then how come you never have a plan for when we dock, it always seems like you tag along with me or come up with it moments before." Recalling Steven's gentle caring tone when asking her a simple question, made her feel guilty for lying to him.
She did not tell him at breakfast or at the port Steven she could be honest with but bystanders not so much. They board the skimmer Steven had paid for her ticket they were alone it was a small craft. Steeling herself she came clean. "Steven look at me! I need to tell you something." He turned to her puzzled but ready, "Go ahead!" he said laying his hand on her shoulder it seemed warmer this time. "I should tell you the real reason I booked this father runs the most luxurious Hotel in Alola he wanted me to find out how the ship was run. So the port trips were not really planned that is why I am glad you let me tag along. I got to relax for once. I mean golf used to be my escape now it's my job." She laughed ironically "I guess I never really learned to enjoy myself, but with you I can. " Steven exclaimed something in Japanease collecting himself, he switched to English "Thank you for telling me now I do not understand why you kept it secret." Steven I…" He applied a little pressure to her shoulder "I do understand having a demanding father, so if he asked you, it makes a little sense." She nestled closer to him pulling the arm acroos both shoulders they stayed like that till the ride was over. Both were sad when the engine stalled to an idle and the boat docked
Sinnoh was as they disembarked at the Fight area, they made a stop by the Pokémon center to quickly change clothes. Back in her usual golf outfit having dispensed with the warm Galarian clothing, and wearing some blue hiking boots instead of cleats she was prepared for this new outing. . Steven was not in his usual attire his suit jacket replaced with a purple collared vest buttoned at the bottom, accompanied by black slacks. There were small ditches everywhere in the fight area and the region was on an incline. It was much like Snowpoint it was likely typical geography for the region. " Is most of the region like this?" "Yes, high altitudes rocky terrain and cold, but beautiful lakes and a couple pristine beaches. "There are meteorites, and a few special rocks including one in a state of permafrost, in investigating it I heard about a villa for sale and a local legend about what I assumed was a similarly encased Magma Stone in the survival area." Steven interrupted his tale to call Aggron to cross route 229 Mantine was summoned to do the same. "We could both cross on Aggron it can carry way more than us." "That is not the problem the covered in spikes part is the problem." Laughing they crossed soot falling from the sky, coating their clothes in a fine powder. Without incident they reached the resort area, a quaint little town almost devoid of people. She knew exactly which house was the villa Steven had hung a Hoen flag there. The villa was nice if small the main room was the same size as their cabins on board the S.S. Anne. Steven had not bought a place to entertain guests this was a retreat.
There was a table some cushions various area rugs and a loveseat, and a television, most of the room was decorated with the rock collection. Steven was waiting on his stones from the ship Armand had assured him they would receive the utmost care. Kahili was admiring the select pieces already in place. "I see the permafrost rock but, which one is the Magma Stone?" "Come over to the window I will show you." When she arrived at the window Steven had opened the blinds. Just up the way was a large volcano. "Just like home water, sun, and a distant volcano watching over us. "That is not really the legend the Magma stone keeps the mountain from erupting I went to collect it but, it was engrained into the cooled magma probably there when the mountain first formed I left it. "There was a knock at the door, Kahili answered it Armand slipped her a letter postmarked Alola as he stepped in. There were also some sailors taking the collection pieces from the ship into the villa. Armand did not stay long, checking in the new guests took a higher priority in his estimation. Kahili helped move the collection. Because Steven was cheerily whistling, it was the happiest she had seen her friend and she was glad to assist. As the evening wore on, they sat on the couch together watching a documentary about a red Gyarados. Both were yawning, not quite tired enough to doze off yet. "Steven why did you become champion clearly you would rather do your hobby, you were so happy putting it together. I did not even know you could whistle!"
"It all started when I found my first fossil a small Claw Fossil, Silphco was already working on a machine to revive fossils, we tested it on my fossil and I got to raise an extinct Pokemon. Rocks were never just rocks to me after that they were always tied to Pokemon. To my Dad I was never just his son after that I was a field tester. "When the Pokenav was developed my da.. the company needed a surveyor, I did the gym challenge to get strong enough to explore the whole region. When I finished gathering data on Victory road I decided to try." "You had come all that way you believed in your team." She snuggled in closer and Steven fell silent, feeling they understood each other better.
Eventually sleeping arrangements were discussed, though neither really wanted to leave. Steven got his way and took the loveseat, "If I did not want to sleep on the couch I should have added a guest room." Unable to argue she withdrew to his bed alone.
He awoke to the smell of coffee and a beautiful view Kahili was in a coverup a swimsuit underneath. She had poured him a cup of joe she had a small plate of assorted fruit dissecting it with a fork. There was a paper in her other hand. She laid it on the cushion absentmindedly. "I thought we could take a dip in the pool this morning rather than finding any stones." This being his final destination Steven wanted to make the time special for Kahili so he agreed. Kahili went out to the pool first since she was mostly ready, what she was not ready for was Steven's swimming attire. There was very little of it for he was in a blue speedo. Honestly Steven looked better in it then the Sinnoh swimmers they had passed by on the way to this hide away. The taught stomach cyclist legs and arms built from shifting rocks around came together nicely he knew it too. Completely confident and at ease he dove in.
For his own part Steven was shocked at Kahili's suit but for a different reason, it was the suit from the add in Unova. A yellow and black bikini normally reminding him of a model would hurt the wearer Kahili out shone the model. That vision of her wet hair down and outside a hat, the sun hitting the highlights, her porcelain skin half submerged in the translucent water, he wished he had a camera. Not finding one he dove in. It helped him cool off a little.
He was getting more use out of the pool today than he ever had. It was a perfect day; it was a shame he had to ruin it. He waited till she stopped swimming laps to approach her and ask the dreaded question. "The next stop is Alola are you looking forward to going home Kahili?" Yeah I cannot wait to show you Alola, real Mantine surfing classes, maybe we can meet my Dad then you can help me with something before the S.S. Anne takes you back to Hoen." "Kahili this is my last stop I was planning on staying here now that the collection is complete, to figure out if I still want to be Champion." She did not say anything the look on her face had disappointment, sadness, and something else. "I thought I could extend the trip but the ship was booked. I really tried everything she punched him in the shoulder playfully "Not everything we could stow you away. "Or we could just get married and share the room." He deadpanned. Ha-ha very funny what's the real plan." "I know everything about that ship it could work I just need my notebook. He hoped she ment her suggestion and not his. Meet me at Snowpoint I think there was a gym on the pokenav we can rendezvous there. She ran inside not bothering to towel off, looking for her warm clothes with the greatest haste. "Steven was shocked did he really want to stow away he could get arrested for that or get Kahili booted off the ship. It was only for a couple days though he still owed her for helping him with Fallow. He was not ready to say goodbye he thought he was but now. "I guess I am going to Snowpoint. "
The villa seemed a lot less appealing than it had moments earlier before Kahili left. What could he do with the villa one of the locals really seemed to admire it. Steven went to the ribbon club after changin into warm clothes and found the man with glasses. "Hey kid you can have the villa just see that my furniture and stones are moved out call this number." He hurriedly said scrawling the Devon branch of Sinnoh's number and the name of someone who would take care of it. "What gives Steven this is crazy." "Something came up and I could use your help I just have to leave." Okay I guess." Steven shook his hand and took off. "Where are you going?" "Home! "Shouted Steven thinking of Kahili while he said it. "Man rich guys are eccentric" thought the new owner of the villa.
Kahili was pouring over the pages "It has to work where was the kitchen page," she knew it was in here the snow was making it hard to see. She finally saw the dining room kitchen section it was a long shot but it could work. "Steven you are not going to like this plan. It's the best chance we have are you afraid of heights? Somewhere above the ship Steven and Skarmory are hovering in a holding pattern. He was counting on her she had to set up the net. In the kitchen no one was there she had noticed that the trashcans were rarely emptied she had enquired about it the incinerator was lit once in a blue moon. She knew it would be off at port due to there being much less trash. She had also checked when she picked up her notebook. She let's Crobat out to give Steven the signal and summons Cradilly, Metagross, and Claydoll in front of the chute.
This really was insane diving through a chute on Skarmory to an incinerator at least they were not going to go too fast. He gripped the neck of Skarmory shut his eyes and gave the order. The Steel type pokemon sinks through the air like well a block of steel through water. They keep falling and falling, the Skarmory turns just above the chute and Steven slips inside. Armand saw the Skarmory and thought nothing of it "Kahili must be playing ship golf again it was a miracle no one had complained. " Grass knot Cradilly vines were stationed all over the tube to catch him he would break a few but they would hold. And unbelievably they did, the sight of Steven cradled in vines on hanging by his chest. Two pychic attacks later Metagross undoing the vines while Claydol lowered him gently. Then the pair empty a trash cart refill it after Steven gets in and sneak him into Kahili's cabin. Steven took a nonnegotiable shower after two different interactions with trash. Kahili was happy they had pulled it off but, she was going to leave this out of the report. Steven came out "What did you need help with Kahili, I need some advice and you owe me a Z-crystal. " She smugly replied.
Author's note Next chapter is the last I think I am gonna replay Ultra Sun before I write the chapter so do not expect it right away. I really liked how this turned out it was more payoff then I was expecting, the Villa dump makes no sense if you did not play Platinum's post-game that is the call back though.
Sincerely 4Coyote.
