Everyone was looking at Midoriya. Dokusei was surprised that the guy didn't pass out from all the attention. "He'll be fine." He looked back to Midnight as she continued to explain the rules.
"The time limit is fifteen minutes. The total point value of each player will be on a headband tied on the rider's head." The screen showed an example of three teachers lifting up All Might with his head band showing fifty points. "Till the time is up every team will need to steal as many points as they can!"
Dokusei rolled his shoulders, the ginger ale finally settling down his stomach. "Headbands must be worn above the shoulders, and most of all, as this is a human cavalry battle, if you lose your headband or your horse formation crumbles, you are out. However, as long as your rider doesn't hit the ground, you're still in the game!"
Dokusei walked to the side to give his bucket to one of the custodial bots still cleaning up his vomit. He thought about how he would work well in a formation. "Rider or a flank horse would be best..." As he returned, he heard other students processing the rules. "Front horse might work too..."
"Now quirks are allowed, but if you attack an enemy with the aim to break up their formation, it's an automatic disqualification!"
"Ok... so I need to be careful with my toxins... maybe I could use my slow down compound or my new exhaustion one..." Dokusei looked about, trying to think of good teammates. "I wonder..."
"You have fifteen minutes until the event starts! So form your teams!" He began to look for someone.
"Hey, Sumiteru!" Dokusei looked for the caller.
"Hey, Care Bear." She was waving at him, dragging along Midoriya, who was recovering from his own powerful tears-seriously, he could weaponize those things! "Mordy, what's up?"
"Would you like to join our team?!" Uraraka asked with excitement.
Dokusei rubbed his head a bit. "I appreciate the offer, but sorry, guys, I don't think the team up would work well. Your best bet is to focus on evading; I'd bring you down."
Uraraka deflated a little. "Oh well... good luck on your end then..."
Dokusei patted her shoulder. "You'll be fine without me." He left and walked to his target.
"Got room for me, Right Hook?" he asked Kendo, who jumped since he kind of sneaked up on her.
"Sumiteru!" She quickly turned around with a smile on her face. "You want to join my team!?"
He nodded, "Aye I do." He looked at the other two members of class 1-B who were with her. "Ok, let's see if I remember names and faces." He pointed at the only other boy there. "You're Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, the one who tried to pick a fight with our class two weeks ago."
"You're damn right I am, and I'll do it again!" He rammed his fists together, much like Kirishima did.
"Alright." He nodded then looked toward the girl with green thorny vines for hair with two of them wrapped up like a crown of thorns; she had dark green eyes. "And this little Daisy must be Ibara Shiozaki."
A light blush showed itself. "I am." She bowed at him, which he returned. "Kendo hasn't told us much about you, but you don't seem like the sinners of your class."
Dokusei nervously chuckled. "Short Fuse is just an ass, and you shouldn't let his actions paint your perception of all of us." He leaned over to Kendo and whispered, "Is she always like that...?" She nodded yes.
"Alright!" Tetsutetsu shouted. "We got a team! What's our formation, big sis!?" he asked Kendo.
She looked about, thinking. "Sumiteru" -her gaze landed on him- "where do you think you'll fit?"
"I'm good wherever you want me." He smiled at her. "Though, do you want my opinion on who should go where?" She gestured for him to continue.
Dokusei then pointed to Tetsutetsu. "Iron Hide here should be the front horse, while me and Daisy" -Shiozaki flinched a bit- "should be the flanks." He looked back to Kendo. "That leaves you as the rider." He rubbed his neck. "Sorry..." He looked away, blushing a bit. "Didn't mean to tell you all what to do..."
"It's fine, Sumiteru." Kendo put a hand up. "I did ask for your opinion, and you gave good insight." She gave him a smirk. "Besides, I was just about to suggest a very similar thing, except you and me swapping places."
He shook his head a bit. "Your quirk is better at defense than mine; plus I could accidentally get us disqualified if my toxins cause any of them to fall." He gave them a smirk. "Now if they get too tired and fall well after we had an encounter with them, that's another story." He winked at them.
Kendo returned the smirk while Tetsutesu had a look of confusion, and Shiozaki shook her head in disappointment.
"Looks like we have our team; let's go for that ten million!" Tetsutesu yelled out with his fists in the air.
Kendo followed soon after. "Yeah, let's do it!"
Shiozaki looked like she wanted to say something but didn't.
"That's a horrible idea." Dokusei, however, was not afraid to speak his mind.
"What do you mean by that!?" Tetsutesu shouted at him.
"Midoriya has a humongous target on his back; that means pretty much everyone is going after him." He pointed to his classmates' teams. "Especially Todoroki and Bakugo."
"What do you mean?" Kendo asked.
"Bakugo may not look like it but he got the top scores in the entrance exam for a reason, not just for the hero course. So he's extremely smart." He pointed to another team. "And Todoroki is a power house, especially with crowd control." He looked back to his team. "We should focus on getting points from other teams, and if we haven't gotten enough points, go for the ten million as a last resort."
Tetsutesu grumbled as Kendo gave it some thought. "H-He has a point." Everyone looked at Shiozaki. "Sumiteru saw a loop hole in the game involving his quirk, which I despise wholeheartedly." The lightbulb in Tetsutetsu's head finally lit up. "He has insights on our wicked enemy and is willing to share. Also I do not think it's wise to go after the ten million, there're just too many things that could go wrong."
Dokusei smiled at her. "See, even Daisy agrees with me!"
"Would you please stop calling me that!?" Her face quickly turned red before she covered her face with her hands. "We just met and you're acting like we've been friends for years!" They didn't know how but the blush was coming through her hands.
"Yeah sure..." Dokusei was a little taken back by her outburst.
"There are rules and ways on how to gain each other's friendship!" She kept going on and on, not really registering her own words, before she suddenly stopped as a hand rested on her shoulder.
She looked through her fingers, seeing that the owner of the hand was Dokusei. "Alright, Shiozaki, no nicknames." He removed his hand and stared into her eyes. "We'll work on it later, right now we have an event to survive." He smirked at her before walking away.
"Hey! Where are you going!?" Tetsutetsu called out.
"We got some time, so I'm using the restroom real quick!" He started jogging to the little hero's room.
"You ok, Shiozaki?" Kendo asked. "I know his nicknames can be a bit weird, but you'll get used to it."
"He has really pretty eyes..." Kendo barely heard her and froze. "I can see why you like him."
"W-what?!" She took a step back before she understood what she said. "No! Not you too!" She facepalmed and was ready for this day to be over with.
By the time Dokusei returned, they were almost ready for the event to start. "Should we get the formation up?"
"Might as well. Our strategy is as tight as we can make it and we have a minute or so left," Kendo agreed.
Their formation was Tetsutetsu in front, Dokusei on the right flank, Shiozaki on the left, and Kendo was the rider. "Alright, everyone! Eraser, wake up! Those fifteen minutes are almost up and the teams appear to be finished forming and strategizing!" Present Mic's announcement could wake anyone up. "We have thirteen teams lined up around the field ready to strike!"
"This year's line up seems interesting," Aizawa finally spoke.
Kendo tightened her headband of 580 points. "Everyone ready!?"
"I'm good, Right Hook!"
"I was born ready!" Tetsutetsu ironed up.
"May the Lord grant us victory." Shiozaki prayed for them.
"Sound the horn!" Present Mic hit the star button.
Just as Dokusei predicted, every team went after Midoriya, but that boy was crafty. He had the only student from the support class give him a jetpack, and with Uraraka, they were able to float and fly away very easily. What they didn't expect was Bakugo actually flying himself after him. "Told you guys it was a bad idea. There's a team on our left, I think."
"Yes, there is. It has the invisible girl who has no modesty!" Shiozaki confirmed.
"Monoma already got her headband!" Kendo called out. "There, that one!" They moved to their next target.
Tetsutetsu charged head first and attacked the enemy team. Kendo tried to go for the headband while trying not to knock her team over or theirs, and still had to keep her headband safe.
Dokusei managed to get a few injections in but no headband.
Shiozaki however was a sneaky one. While everyone was focused on each other, she snuck in one of her vines to steal the headband without them noticing until it was too late.
"How much?" Dokusei asked as they fell back.
"Not enough!" Kendo looked about trying to find more targets. "There!" With that they repeated the process a few more times.
"We're stuck in fourth!" Tetsutetsu looked at the scoreboard. "We need more points if we want to guarantee ourselves in the next event! "
Before they could do more, Dokusei's eyes widened as he felt a familiar blast of cold air hitting him. "Everybody jump!" They jumped as an ice wall came from Todoroki, freezing many teams and trapping his and Midoriya's teams. But thanks to Dokusei's warning, his team was not stuck in ice. "Shiozaki, try to get their headband before Todoroki can." He looked at his rider. "Kendo, do you see a way out!?"
"Yes, I do!" She pointed to an opening on the other side of the arena, right through Todoroki and Midoriya.
"I got one!" Shiozaki showed her catch of the day. "Still not enough though." She looked about. "I can climb us out of here."
"Shiozaki, you're a life saver!" Dokusei smiled at her.
Team Kendo began to climb out of the ice, being careful not to slip. When they made it out, they saw Monoma lose all his points to Bakugo. "See any more teams with points?" Dokusei asked.
"There's only one left!"
"Who?"
"Looking for me?"
"Well if it isn't-" Dokusei stopped talking as his world went extremely fuzzy.
"Sumiteru, what's wrong?" Kendo asked, looking at her teammate, seeing a thousand yard stare in his eyes.
"Seems he's the one who's all bark no bite; what about you?"
"What did you-" She too stopped, shocking Tetsutetsu and Shiozaki.
"Now hand me all of your headbands," the purple haired boy commanded.
Kendo started to remove all of the headbands she had and held them out.
"Big sis, what are you doing!?" Tetsutetsu tried getting through to her. "Stop, we're going to lose!"
The purple haired boy's team walked up to theirs, took the head bands, and walked off with them.
Shiozaki gritted her teeth, and before he could get away, she sent a vine after the boy. She grabbed one of his many headbands.
"What... what just happened?' Dokusei asked, clutching his head.
"Yeah... Gah!" Kendo gasped. "The headbands, they're gone!"
"What happened to them!?"
"You gave them to the general studies punk!" Tetsutetsu yelled.
"But I don't..."
"I managed to take one." Shiozaki held up their original headband of 580.
Dokusei and Kendo let out a sigh. "You're a life saver, Da- I mean Shiozaki." Dokusei smiled at her.
"Come on, we have to move!" Kendo started. "We need to-"
"And that is it, folks!" Present Mic called the end of the event.
Dokusei's team all collapsed as they realized they had lost.
"In first place we have team Todoroki!" Dokusei could see his team holding the ten million.
"In second place we have team Bakugo!" Bakugo was doing his best impression of an angry hedgehog screaming at the ground.
"In third place we have team Ken- wait!" He stopped mid sentence. "No! It's team Shinsou!" The purple haired bastard looked smug, but the rest of his team looked extremely confused.
"And in fourth place we have team Midoriya!" The dude cried so hard he broke the concrete!
Dokusei looked up at the scoreboard, seeing his team in fifth place. Midoriya beat them by 105 points. "Sorry, guys..." Dokusei started to apologize, "if I didn't fall for Bed Head's trick, we wouldn't have lost."
He felt a hand on his shoulder; turning, he saw Kendo giving him a big smile. "It's alright, dude. I fell for it too, so don't beat yourself up over it." He could see the corners of her eyes starting to glisten. "A-And I-I'm the one who..." She shut her eyes and tried to control her breathing. "I'm the one who-Gah!" Before she could continue, Dokusei flicked her forehead really hard. "Hey, watch it! Those claws of yours are sharp!"
She covered her forehead as Dokusei chuckled at her. "Here I am getting a pep talk while it's you who needs it." He patted her shoulder. "You did great; yeah it sucks that we lost, but blame that on Bed Head, not yourself." He smiled at her. "You're awesome! We just had some bad luck is all!"
She tried to stop a smile but couldn't help it; his smile was infectious. "Are you sure your quirk isn't making everyone smile?"
His smile widened. "I don't know; is it working!?" The two busted out laughing for a few moments. As he calmed down, Dokusei nodded his head to where all the students were heading. "I don't know about you but I'm going to go get some food."
"Yeah, food sounds amazing right now."
Dokusei parted ways with 1-B and rejoined his friends at the food court. "Sumiteru!" He saw Uraraka waving at him.
"Hey, Care Bear!" He returned the wave. "Congrats on making it to the final event!"
"Thanks, kinda sucks that you didn't make it..." She looked towards the ground.
Dokusei chuckled. "Hey, you can't win everything." He patted her head. "Take every defeat as a learning experience and do better next time." He said the advice his master gave whenever he failed at something.
Uraraka had a light blush slowly crawling up on her face. "T-that's pretty neat advice."
He removed his hand. "Yeah, it was kinda drilled into me." He saw Iida and gave him a wave.
"Where's Mordy?"
"I don't know." She looked around. "Probably using the restroom."
Dokusei shrugged. "Let's get some food; I'm starving."
Uraraka lifted her arms into the air. "Yes! Sweet mochi here I come!" The two let out a laugh as they got in line.
