The workout, although not really intense, did leave Ochako sore, not as bad as a long day in a construction site, but dammit, there were sore muscles she didn't even know she had! "Ow, ow ow..." She let out minor grunts of pain as she stretched.
"Eat or drink something high in protein, your muscles will heal faster, and just take it easy." Dokusei did some light stretching; he wasn't too sore, but he was pretty much used to this kind of pain. "I also got heating pads if you want to try that tonight."
"I-I already have one, for other things..." Her ears were turning a slight shade of red.
"Ah... I got pain killers too if you need them; they're not as effective on me as normal people."
"T-Thanks..."
Dokusei grabbed his hero costume. "Do you want to use the bathroom again?"
"Yes please..." She grabbed her stuff and walked into the bathroom.
"It's like that one time Mina went camping with us. That was a wake-up call..." He let his thoughts go about as he changed into his hero costume.
When they got to the dojo, Gunhead had a couple of his sidekicks with him. "Good morning, you two! These two will be joining us today, and after training we'll go out on patrol. Now let me introduce you to Commander Steel and Agent Aries."
Commander Steel was just slightly shorter than Gunhead, more built however. He had black hair that he kept in a military buzz, cold blue eyes, and a scar that went over his left eye down to his jaw. He wore a military officer's coat over his shoulders, a white sleeveless shirt under it, his pants matched his jacket, and he had combat boots on. This guy screamed military. He also had an officer's cover by his side. "So theses are the welps we'll have to put into shape?" He scanned them with a critical eye. "They don't look like much."
Agent Aries was a very tall young woman, much taller than everyone by at least a foot. She was also extremely well built with a small bust, short purple hair, red eyes, and a set of ram's horns. She wore a full suit of golden armor, and had a helmet at her side. The helmet was in the style of Spartans but with a glowing red visor, slits for her horns, and a purple head crest that went from front to back. A pteruges sat round her waist and down past her thighs with purple cloth under it. A black bodysuit sat underneath, covering any gaps in her armor. She just bowed slightly towards them, not saying anything
"Now, now, Commander, they're more than capable of becoming future Pros." Gunhead crossed his arms at Commander Steel. "I wouldn't have sent them nominations otherwise." He then looked at Agent Aries. "Aries, I want you to work with Toxic Phantom, and Commander you'll be teaching Uravity the basics. Teach her the stances and how to do punches and kicks." He looked at the two students. "After that you'll switch partners."
"Yes, sir!" was their reply.
Dokusei walked up to the much taller hero. He bowed at her. "Hello."
"Hello," she started. "We'll make this quick. You and I will be doing some light sparring; the goal is to see what you can do, and see where you can improve..."
Ochako went up to Commander Steel, and shrunk under his cold gaze. "Don't back down; you'll get walked all over if you do."
She straightened out her posture and looked back at him with less fear. "Right!"
His eye seemed to twitch. "Now I'm going to go over the stances and how to move into the next one. You may have seen your boyfriend do these in his fights at the sports festival."
"H-He's not-" She didn't get any more out.
"Don't speak unless I ask you! And all it better be is, "Yes, sir!"" He suddenly got into her face. "Am I clear!?"
"Yes, sir!"
Commander Steel then began to show her the proper stances. The most important one was her fighting stance. "You keep your feet shoulder with part, your front foot about a half step forward and your back foot tuned to the side, with your weight being able to sway forward and back without much difficulty." He showed her where his feet placement was. "Now your arms are the only things you have that can protect you when you have nothing else, keep the thumbs of your fists at eye level, and your elbows at ninety degrees." He put his guard up. "If your arms are too far forward, it could take too much time to pull your fist back for a punch, and if they are too close, you expose your head to your opponent." He stood at her side. "Now follow my lead. And I'll correct you as we go."
"Yes, sir!"
"Now, let's begin."
The first few times Ochako fell to the mat were honestly from her own mistakes, but after the eighth time, she started to suspect that Commander Steel liked knocking her to the ground... "Get up, and do it again. A sitting stance should be your most stable stance, I shouldn't be knocking you down so easily."
Ochako got up and back into her sitting stance, and blocked an incoming axe kick, but even though she blocked it, her stance crumbled. She laid face down on the mat, slowly getting up.
"Grrr!" Commander Steel rubbed his face. "Go take five, I'll talk to Gunhead; see if we can understand what's wrong..."
Ochako just sat on the mat. "What's going on...?"
Dokusei came up to her. "Saw what was happening; can I see your stance?"
"Yeah..." He helped her up and she went back to her stance. Dokusei walked around her, corrected her feet placement, fixed her posture and stood in front of her, placing her hand on her shoulder and slowly pressed down, feeling some give, but not a lot.
"Do your feet feel comfortable?"
"No?"
"My only guess is that your boots are not wide enough; your feet look very narrow from where I'm standing."
"Should I take them off?" She looked at her boots, they had a built-in spring, to help with harsh landings.
"If you want, it might be something you just can't avoid."
She took off her boots and she got back into her stance, ready to block the blow. Dokusei delivered an axe kick; she blocked it but she still fell to the mat. She let out a cry of defeat. As Dokusei went down and rubbed her head, he said, "Sorry, Care Bear, besides increasing your physical strength, I don't really have anything..."
She just laid there for a few minutes before rolling over. "Maybe I'm just tired..."
He shrugged his shoulders as he sat right next to her. "Could be..." He leaned back on his hands. "You at least learn anything?"
She nodded. "Yeah, he may be a butt head, but I already learned a lot from him."
"Once you get the basics down, Gunhead is going to show you knife fight training."
She suddenly sat up. "That sounds fun!"
Dokusei chuckled at her. "Yeah, if you like kissing the mat."
"I'm going to be tossed around again, aren't I..." She slumped into her hands.
He patted her shoulder. "It's part of the process, got to learn how to get out of it if you ever find yourself in a position like that."
"I guess..." She drew circles on the mat. "I wonder how Deku's work study is going..."
Dokusei shrugged and put his own head in his hand. "Probably either getting his ass kicked or is out on patrol."
Unbeknownst to them, Midoriya was actually getting his ass handed to him by an old geezer with air jets.
Dokusei got up and put a hand out for Ochako. "Come on, let's work on other things, like how to do proper punches and kicks."
She took his hand and was lifted up. "Right."
She had to give him credit, Dokusei was a good teacher. They still hadn't figured out why her sitting stance kept failing, but everything else came easy for her. They were now working on basic form work. It mostly focused on blocking and simple counters.
"You're a natural at this, Ochako." Dokusei had his hands on his hips and a smile on his face, as she completed another round of form work. "You sure you weren't a martial artist in a past life?"
"I don't know, maybe?" She rubbed the back of her head. "I just mainly wish I could get the sitting stance down…
He put his hand to his chin. "I have an idea; it might not work though."
"I'm willing to try it!"
"Ok..." He got in front of her. "Get into the stance." She did. "Ok, now make yourself weightless."
She looked at him like he was crazy. "Umm... ok..." He brought her hands together, touching all of her fingers on her hands. "Ugh... ok... I'm g-good to go..." Dokusei nodded and quickly brought an axe kick to her head, she blocked it. And was still standing, well flouting. "W-What!?" She looked back at Dokusei and the floor. "How!?"
"I think it's the floor; the mat just hates you." Dokusei shrugged; he had no idea that this would work, he just wanted to see if she'd bounce like a ball and still be able to fight.
"Well now that's a development," Gunhead said as he and his sidekicks stood in the doorway. "Don't tell me I have to change my whole flooring because of this?"
Dokusei shook his head and waved his hands no. "N-No, sir, I think it's just Ochako here specifically." He then rubbed his neck. "So... how long have you guys been there..."
"About when you started showing her the second form," Agent Aries spook up.
"Oh..." Both of the students started to feel blush growing.
"Anyway," Gunhead stated. "Grab your gear, we're heading out on patrol."
"Yes, sir!"
After about a minute of getting all their gear back on, Ochako's helmet and boots, and Dokusei's gloves and masks. They stood in the garage of the agency while Commander Steel stood in front of them. "Alright, Cadets!" he shouted. "We will be doing a standard patrol around the city!" He began to walk back and forth. "You will mostly stick with me as we ride around, but on foot you will either be with Gunhead or with Agent Aries. We don't expect to have any villainous activity today, but in the case that we do, you are not allowed to engage the enemy unless you have no other choice. You will mostly be escorting civvies away from the action or to me if you can't get them out safely!" He stopped right in front of them. "Do I make myself clear!?"
"Yes, sir!" This guy should have changed his name to drill sergeant.
"That's what I like to hear!" He took a few steps back. "Now let's get to patrolling!" His body began to glow. "Armor up! APC!" He transformed into a large Armored Personnel Carrier; a ramp opened in the back, and his voice came out of the speakers. "Get a move on, cadets!"
With that, the two students and the other pros boarded the APC and began their patrol.
