Toshinori growled at the man standing before him, wanting to wring his neck for his callous remarks.
Thankfully he wasn't alone in that.
Mirai was not a small man by any stature, and him leaning over you while glaring daggers was rather intimidating if he was honest.
"She gave her life for this country, no! This very world! And you are denying her right to rest with other heroes of high honor!" Mirai was in full Sir Nighteye mode, his voice cold and detached as continued to loom over the HPSC representative.
It's been a few days since the event that happened in the warehouse district near Tokyo proper. All for One's body was found and sent to the crematorium to finally rid the man from existence; All Might didn't want to run the risk of the remaining cohorts of the man to gain the body and experiment on it, if the last of the robberies were any indications, the First Villain was experimenting of the medical kind..
Of what kind, no one was sure of, as they couldn't find any notes of what was being done with the stolen property.
He spent those days in recovery trying to prepare himself to meet the rest of his family. The news wasn't good on what happened to him if the grumbling from Recovery Girl was any indication, and yet she still praised the fallen heroine for what she had done.
Turns out that the stabbing pain in his chest was the blade slowly morphing and shredding his lung to nothing more than mincemeat. Of course All for One wanted to make it hurt and make it last as long as possible. However, the moment the Disco unleashed her Ultimate Attack on the monster, literally shaking his body to bits, including the blade lodged in his chest.
So instead of losing a good portion of his lung and possibly his stomach and intestines, all he lost was half a lung and some scars from the remaining bits of metal still within his chest. What the end results being, he had no idea but Recovery Girl did tell him to prepare for the worse when it came to his health.
But the dreaded day finally arrived when Recovery Girl gave them the go ahead for his family to see him.
He wasn't ready. Not by a long shot.
Seeing the destroyed looks on the children, their very spirits trampled upon by the deeds of his worst enemy nearly broke him. Both children began to weep the moment they saw him laid out, both of them calling out in misery as they carefully clambered up on the bed and hugged him. Crying due to what happened to him…
And what happened to Disco.
The family weeped for hours together, and Toshinori hugged the kids for all he could manage to do. They were careful with his wounds, and cried even harder when they learned that he was missing part of his lung, but Toshinori tried his best in explaining that thanks to Disco that he was saved from the worst of it. He apologized to them both for failing to save her, but refused to hear it.
"S-sir Nighteye, the results of burying Grande Makoda in such a position would-" The representative started, only to choke out a gasp when he felt like he was being buried underneath the weight of the world. Mirai winced at the pressure being brought forth, turning slightly to see the glowing blue eyes of All Might staring down at the man as if he was nothing more than a bug that needed to be squashed.
"'Her position' is that of a hero. I am only alive now because of her and her desire to help me. She is my friend, a sister-in-arms, one that I failed to save because I wasn't strong enough to protect her." All Might rumbled out, the sounds of his hands clenching together and the popping of the joints cause the man to pale at the sound. "I care not what the Hero Commission wants to think of what is proper and what not. She will be buried in Heroes' Vale and will do so with high honor… And if they still refuse, I will ensure certain… Information be brought to light."
"Just because-"
"Kaina Tsutsumi." All Might simply answered, causing the jaw to shut on the man as he stared at him with dawning horror. "In my quest to find All for One, we have come across certain information dealing with the HPSC and their own dealings."
All Might sat up on his bed, eyes burrowing into the representative as he glared at him, disgust clear in his eyes. HPSC was a necessary evil, one that he never liked dealing with and hoped that he could take care of later down the line once he had taken care of All for One. Now that time has finally arrived and it was up to him to try and make some changes with the Commission.
Kaina Tsutsumi was a horrid thing to learn about, one that made All Might lean away from the Commission once he got the full details on what happened to her. He had Gran Torino quietly search for a way to help the woman out, the main superior was dead already, but the decision was made by the HPSC as a whole to make her into an Assassin.
The man slowly straightened out, giving him a hard stare before turning to leave, but All Might had one last parting shot to lay on the man.
"Know this. If the Hero Commission approaches my family, my friends…" The room seems to darken, power radiating from his body. "There is nothing in this world that would stop me from destroying them. I suggest that they start cleaning up their act, unless they want a personal visit from me. The only reason I haven't done so before was because there was something bigger to deal with than them…"
He remains silent to let the information sink in to the Representative so he can fully understand.
'All for One is gone, now I can focus on you.'
The representative gave a silent nod before leaving, Toshinori sighing as he reeled in One for All and laid back in his bed to rest. He coughed a bit and grimaced slightly as he pulled his hand away to reveal blood. A napkin was handed to him by Mirai as he took a seat next to him, allowing Toshinori to clean up the mess.
"Was that wise?" Mirai asked quietly, pulling out his phone and began to look through the photos.
A majority of them are around a certain Dancing Heroine.
"Not really. But I grew tired of the HPSC taking 'initiative' and making calls they had no right to make." Toshinori sighed as he leaned back on his bed. "To be honest, for a while I thought All for One had a hand in making decisions the HPSC were making."
"He was, just not in a way we thought." Mirai swipe left, his eyes focused on his phone. For almost twenty minutes, both men just sat in silence. Mirai was fully focused on his phone, his eyes dim as he looked through the hundreds of photos he had. Toshinori felt regret, unable to fully approach the subject to Mirai in fear of unleashing the pent up frustration in his sidekick. Just a small show of it now made Toshinori wary of even doing so, but knew he had to if he wanted his friendship with the man to remain stable without issue.
"Did you get in contact with her Master?" Toshinori asked as he looked out the window.
"I have… He is…" Mirai remained quiet as he set his phone down and turned to look at Toshinori. "He is upset… but knew one day this might happen."
"Just not this soon." Toshinori mumbled to himself, covering his face with his hand as the stress got to him. "Mirai-"
"I don't blame you." Mirai stated, startling Toshinori as he lowered his hands to look at him in shock. "If there was anyone to blame… It's me."
"Mirai-"
"No Toshinori. I told her what you were doing. I told her where you are going." He waved his hand to wave off any protest. "And I will always hate myself for doing so. And yet, thanks to that, you are still alive as well."
Toshinori couldn't say a word to protest this statement.
Because it was true. Disco being there had basically saved his life, or at least kept him in one piece more due to her involvement. Her quirk gave him an advantage against All for One, lowering his ability to defend himself with the hundreds of defensive quirks he had on hand, thus making a man that seemed immune to every physical attack mortal once more.
She was gone now, and now the trial of moving forward was left to the survivors.
"S-she is a hero. I-I know you tried to get her to run." Mirai's breath hitched as he struggled with his words. "I know she tried, but once she knew the fight was unavoidable, she got down to it and helped you. I cannot fault her for that deed. You are still alive-"
"Mirai, just say it." Toshinori cut in, his eyes hard as he stared at his sidekick. "Say that you hate me. Say that you regret meeting me. Do not-"
"STOP!" Mirai stood up, the chair knocked to the floor as he did so. Tears streamed down his cheeks as he glared at him. "Do not try to paint yourself as the problem. I will not spit on Makoda's death like that. Do not make assumptions like that so you can try and put guilt on your shoulders!"
"THEN WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO!?" Toshinori roared out at Mirai, causing him to take a step back as Toshinori rose from his bed, ignoring the pain in his chest as he stood before the man. "YOU DO NOTHING BUT GRIEVE IN SILENCE! YOU SAY NOTHING TO ME UNLESS I START THE CONVERSATION. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO TAKE AWAY FROM THAT?"
"I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!? I AM GLAD YOU ARE ALIVE, BUT AT THE SAME TIME I FEEL THE PAIN OF LOSING A WOMAN I FELL IN LOVE WITH." Mirai shouted back, teeth clenched as he stared up at Toshinori. "I BLAME MYSELF FOR EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS, AND YET NO ONE IS ALLOWING ME TO SHOULDER THAT BLAME!"
The door slammed open, both men flinched at the dark look Inko was giving them, she stormed into the room with Recovery Girl just behind her, a smile on the woman's face as Inko beelined directly towards Toshinori.
"I-Inko-" Toshinori started only to yelp as she swatted his arm and pointed back to his bed. "Yes dear."
"I could hear the both of you yelling from the elevator." Inko growled as she turned and swatted Mirai in the arm as well, lifting the chair with her quirk and pointed it at for him to sit as well, which he did so without trying to argue against her. "This. Is. A Hospital. Please keep the shouting to a minimum."
Recovery Girl cackled as both men slumped in their respective areas and nodded. "Yes Inko." Both men intoned as one.
Inko sighed as she leaned over and gave Toshinori a gentle kiss, then frowned at the small amount of blood that coated his teeth as he gave her a warm smile. "Did you try to go out and be a hero again, Toshi?"
Toshinori immediately shook his head no, and it pained him to agree to stay in bed until he recovered enough to go back into being a hero. The first and only time he left without telling one was a mere day after the incident had happened. He saw the accident from his window and leapt into action, and while it's all good and all that All Might saved the day in the eyes of everyone else, it wasn't so good for Toshinori Yagi when he got back to his room in the hospital.
Inko was waiting for him, her eyes puffy and red, but glaring daggers at him before jabbing her finger to his bed and giving him an ultimatum.
Either take the time to recover fully aware of his surroundings, or recover while he is in a medically induced coma. Considering her standing in the hospital, he was fully aware of the power she had at her fingertips she wielded here.
She was God and he was a lowly peasant that needed to follow the rules.
Recovery Girl had all but taken Inko under her wings from that point forward, much to his dismay.
"You should be aware that just because the medical staff has signed a NDA doesn't mean the patients are under the same rules as them." Inko said quietly to both men, who winced at her words.
"She's right, so how about you both keep your heads cool for the time being." Recovery Girl added, before looking at Toshinori. "I was in the lobby when I saw a HPSC representative walking out of here in a funk."
"All Might threaten him." Mirai simply stated, causing Inko to gasp softly at this but Recovery Girl nodded her head at this.
"Now that All for One is out of the picture, we can start focusing on problems closer to home." Recovery Girl sighed as she made her way towards the chair, blinking as it slid closer to her thanks to Inko as she gave her an appreciated nod. "I am glad I work at UA, but Nedzu can only do so much to keep the Hero Commission out."
"Half the problems we have are due to them and their ability to make things worse." Mirai grumbled. "I hate working with them because they want things done a certain way. Add in the fact they are trying to find powerful quirks at a young age. So far I haven't found anything of note but I have seen HPSC agents near Chiba Prefecture. There is a child with a powerful explosion quirk there…"
"Troublesome. I will let Nedzu know and see if he can get them to back off." Recovery Girl muttered out loud.
"Perhaps I should talk to the people in charge with Nedzu, if only to get them to stand down." Toshinori rubbed his chin in thought, causing the paling feature of Inko to go far more into the shade of paper.
"Can we please not talk about overthrowing a Government agency?" Inko pleaded.
"It's not overthrowing. It's fixing something that is broken." Mirai corrected.
"We can fix it by throwing out all the bad parts and putting new parts in!" Toshinori gave his wife a beaming smile, but all it did was nearly make her faint.
"THAT'S BASICALLY THE SAME THING!?" She cried out, only to be hushed by her husband.
"Inko, we are in a hospital. You need- OW! OUCH! STOP!" Toshinori yelped as Inko grabbed a pillow and began to hit him with it, rather roughly from the way he was covering his head. Amused smiles grace Recovery Girl and Mirai's face as they saw the two interact, both knew that Toshinori needed someone in his life to make sure that he had something to come home to. Having a wife and child, or two children in the case of Mina, had done wonders for Toshinori's mindset.
"Mirai." Recovery Girl gained his attention with a soft call, leaving the husband and wife to work out their difference via a pillow fight when Toshinori pulled out a pillow of his own and began to fight back.
"Hm…" He hummed as he watched the two mocked duel one another.
"Don't blame yourself." Recovery Girl whispered, a hand patting his knee, startling him from his watching. "Blaming yourself for something like that… It eats you alive."
He turned and gave Recovery Girl a long look, a tired sigh as he looked away towards the window to the afternoon sky. "I suppose I should look to you for the answer. You were married once, correct?"
"Yes. A fine young man. Both loved our jobs but we really were making time to try and go for a family… Then he met All for One, and dragged me into this hideous world of shadows plays." Recovery Girl closed her eyes, remembering all the years that had passed, and yet she still remembered her husband clearly. "We were married for almost 2 years, and knew each other for almost 5 before that. I blamed myself for his death, you know."
Mirai turned to Recovery Girl in shock, staring as the woman seemed to hum to herself as she reached into her bag and pulled out a thermos with warm tea. "I… I didn't know."
"Of course. I wasn't quite as famous as you and Ms Disco. That came later." She poured herself some tea before taking a sip. "The final words I said to him was 'I love you, you goofball.' before I went to work on helping some hurt civilians from an accident. I could have used his help, move them away from the scene, but there was a call for assistance and he couldn't turn it down if I didn't need the help. So I sent him away…"
Mirai focused on his final moments with Disco, with almost picture perfect clarity those minutes he held Disco in his arms and showed his feelings towards the woman.
"And… I love you." Nighteye gave her a warm look as he pulled away, a grin on his face as he quickly got into the cab.
"H-hey! I love you too, you cocky jerk! Why do you gotta end it in a cool way, doofus!" he heard her cry out as the cab drove away. The driver gave him a smirk as he sat in the back seat, watching as Nighteye seemed to melt into the seat from relief.
"Everything pan out, hero?"
"Yes. Didn't need to use my quirk to see that happening either."
Mirai wiped the tears from his eyes, Recovery Girl humming as she watched the husband and wife slowly share small kisses with one another, blushing when they realized they were not quite alone for such deeds.
"I see. Toshinori… I'm sorry." Mirai rose to his feet and bowed to him.
"Wha-what?" Toshinori spluttered at this.
"I… I am sorry for trying to blame myself." he started, looking back up at the Number One hero in the eyes. "But I am not going to blame you either. It was an accident. Bad luck all around. I will try… and be better. The pain in my heart…"
"I understand… And I will try not to be a burden either." Toshinori said quietly, he turned and looked towards Inko. "How did the wake go? The kids?"
"It went well… We held it at Shizuoka Sengen Shrine yesterday." Inko mumbled out, annoyed at the HPSC holding onto Disco's body for far longer than necessary. She pulled out her phone and began to show pictures to Toshinori. "So many people showed up, including most of Izuku and Mina's school."
The front of the shrine looked like a field of flowers, many people had arrived and paid their respects to the fallen Heroine. All the heroes in the agency wore black in the pictures, and he could see many other heroes from nearby agencies had also arrived as well. He could see several pictures of Izuku and Mina, both nearby and never far from one another. He wished he could have attended, but due to his injuries he was unable to do so.
"The kokubetsu-shiki is going to be tonight." She whispered, turning to him with a long look. "Is Master Grande going to be here soon?"
"Tomorrow." Mirai answered for Toshinori. "I talked to him this morning and he was getting on a private jet to get here as soon as he can."
"David is picking him up in California, and from there they are coming here. Melissa is coming with him, she wants to be there for Izuku and Mina… She… Knows the pain of losing a loved one and wants to help." Inko nodded her head at this. Meeting David and Melissa Shield for the first time, she couldn't help but be astounded at how… Normal they were.
That little bit hurt Toshinori, but all Inko had to do was point out his bombastic hero persona and that ended that little episode.
When she learned of Melissa's quirklessness, she couldn't help but wonder what David did during that point in time. She learned that David is a wonderful father, and that he was able to help his daughter move forward, unlike herself when she nearly fell into despair. Melissa's mother was lost when a group of villains attacked a support company she was working at and was caught in the crossfire, and given that Melissa was only 4 at the time meant that David had become a single father along with a rising star in the Support world.
"That's good… And her resting place?" Inko asked, unsure due to the HPSC need to keep out 'undesirables' from the vaunted 'Hero's Vale'.
"If they know what's good for them, they will allow it." Toshinori grumbled, causing Recovery Girl to giggle a little at the thought of All Might ripping the Hero Commission a new one in a very public confrontation. Knowing them though, they will bow to his demands if they don't want the rest of Japan and the world to see their number one hero in conflict with the HPSC.
Inko sighed as she stepped away from Toshinori, giving him a weak smile as she turned to the group. "I have to go home, I want… I want to prepare Izuku for the funeral when we finally lay her ashes to rest."
Mirai gave her a hug before she left, turning and nodding to Toshinori as he took his leave, to make his own preparations for that day as well, leaving Toshinori and Recovery Girl alone in the room.
"Yes, I will allow you to attend, but you come right back here, understand?" Recovery Girl said out loud, before he had a chance to open his mouth to ask. "Knowing you, you will go anyways, but at least this way you actually have permission and not get in trouble with that lovely wife of yours."
"Thanks.. Chiyo." He thanked her quietly, a small hum acknowledgement coming from the woman as she sipped her tea. He turned to her with a small look of confusion as she remained, no doubt waiting for her to perform her check up but found the woman seemingly contemplating something. "Is something wrong?"
"I want your wife."
Toshinori spat out blood at her words, causing a coughing fit as she stared at him for his reaction before she ran the words through her head, causing a slight blush to appear on her cheeks as she waved her walking cane at him. "Not like that, you idiot boy!"
"Then don't say it like that!" he spat back, as he tried to clean up the blood from his coughing fit. He sighed as he looked back to her, frowning as he gauged her reaction as she coughed and primly cleaned her uniform. "You want her to be a part of the UA medical staff?"
"Yes. I spoke with the officials here at the hospital, they practically glowed when they spoke of her conduct and her work under pressure. She is kind, hard working, and can work in a crisis." She sipped her tea before continuing, "While she doesn't have a healing quirk, she is quite knowledgeable in medical treatment… Also, I'm getting old. I need someone to replace me soon and having someone that has actual medical training and experience would be a boon in UA, considering the amount of idiots who hurt themselves just by training."
"So you're telling me in advance because…?" Toshinori questioned, looking confused at her. "She is more than capable of making a decision for herself. You don't need to ask me-"
"You are going to pass 'One for All' to the boy, are you not?" She asked, her question cutting to the point. "You speak highly of the boy for his desire to be a hero and his reasons to be one. I figure I might as well ask so I can prepare. The boy might work better if he knows his family is there for him and nearby."
"Ah…" That brought him up short. Yes he could see why she asked now. If Inko worked at UA, she would be nearby and help Izuku out if he got hurt. However, when he passed the power onto Izuku, Inko might need to be ready for more than cuts and bruises, if the power he is wielding now was any indication.
"She knows right? The truth about your 'Quirk'?"
"Yes, she has known for a while now. I haven't broached the subject of passing it down to Izuku just yet. The boy is too young for it now, but I was planning on telling her in a couple of years." Toshinori hummed in thought as the Heroine got up from her seat and began to motion for him to sit up so she could give him a check-up. He then felt the wound on his chest and began to think harder on it. "Perhaps I should ask sooner rather than later."
"After the funeral. Give yourselves time to grieve and heal first before dropping that little bomb on her, boy." She chided him, giving him a tired smile as she looked at him. "To be honest, I was expecting me, Torino, and Mirai to be hassling you to stay in bed and recover."
This caused a blush to appear on his face as he looked away and mumbled something, causing Recovery Girl to frown. "What was that?"
"Don't want to upset Inko." He mumbled a bit louder, causing Recovery Girl to give a little laugh.
"I see she has you whipped into performing common sense. A good woman. Nana would be pleased with her." Recovery Girl stated, a bright smile appearing on Toshinori's face.
"Yeah, I think she would be too."
-Heroes' Vale, the next day-
Izuku sniffed as he wiped his eyes, the music playing in the area was nice and calming with the sky such a beautiful color after a light drizzle of rain. He thought it was apt since they listened to a rendition of 'Over the Rainbow' when the sky cleared up after the song had finished and a rainbow actually appeared. Beside him, Mina whimpered as she tried to keep herself from crying loudly as people moved on to pay their respect, all the while Melissa held her other hand and gave her comforting words.
The Shield family coming was not a surprise to Izuku, after all his dad got hurt fighting a very terrible villain and took away a big sister from him. He turned to see his dad being helped by Uncle David as he sat down on a nearby chair so he could rest without irritating his wound. He looked back to see the final member walk up to the stone monument that held Disco's ashes, his hands trembling as he held a belt in his hand.
The belt was pure white with green tips, as he slowly laid the belt out on the stone, standing up and bowing towards it. "I… I wish I had given you this belt when you were still alive, my student… No. My daughter. The fact that this was long overdue but we never had time to truly meet up… Did we?"
Izuku swallowed as he stood up, his eyes were wet with tears but there was a look of determination on his face. He turned and left, only giving the children one last glance before leaving.
"That… That was Disco's dad, right?" Mina asked weakly, rubbing her eyes.
"Yes. Valentino Grande." Toshinori answered her question with a small cough, "He adopted Makoda when he saw how she wanted to learn from him while he was traveling through Japan to learn other styles. Makoda didn't have an easy life before she met him…"
"She was an orphan." Izuku thought back on all the times Disco talked about her time talking about the father figure in her life, but never before about her time in the orphanage. Both kids learn to not ask about it, figuring it would be too painful to bring up. It did explain why she constantly went to various orphanages around Tokyo, if only to be sure that they were actually doing their jobs.
"Izuku, Mina, I hope that I can help you in any way I can. I know it's hard to lose someone close to you, so please don't ever try and keep the pain in. Let someone know, even if it's just to one another." Melissa said quietly to the two, the twelve year old reached out and held Izuku's hand as well. The three watched as Toshinori stood up from his seat and made his way towards the monument, getting on his knees and bowing low to the grave, both David and Inko gently helping him perform the task while he spoke softly. "I hope that-!?"
Both children turned and gave Melissa a deep hug, causing Melissa to tear up a bit as she hugged them back. Izuku spoke first as he held on to her tightly. "You are our honorary cousin, Melissa. You are family as far as we are concerned."
"Y-yeah! You are the best cousin we have! Super smart and everything!" Mina added, hugging her just as tightly as Izuku. "We will call you if we ever need help with anything. Promise!"
Melissa gave a small giggle as she held onto the both of them, pulling away to wipe the tears as she looked at the two of them. "I know Disco would be proud of you two. She was fun when I first met her. She told me you both are aiming to be heroes, so I made her a promise last year when I came by to visit. I promise I would help you two become heroes, so you better make sure you send me your hero costumes designs okay? That way you can get the best that I-Island can provide!"
Both children gave her watery smiles and nodded their heads. Toshinori stood up and looked to his family, giving them a tired smile before the entire group turned as one and bowed to the grave.
"We will miss you Makoda. Rest easy and safe journeys to the afterlife." They said as one. Toshinori gave a tired sigh before looking at the rest of them. "Let's go home."
-Gunhead Agency, several days later-
Valentino Grande needed a few days to get his head clear of grief he felt. Losing a daughter like Makoda had hurt him when the news came to him, and he immediately called his own sons to make sure they were also safe and to inform them of the news of their adopted little sister.
The brothers had come a day after his own arrival, and helped their father grieve in their own way.
Mostly loud music and heavy drinking, telling stories of their time with Makoda when she first arrived after the adoption. By the end of the night, with so many beer cans and bottles laying everywhere in the hotel room, all three men were laughing with their own tears streaming down their cheeks.
The morning after was hell on their heads, and they had no doubts that if Makoda was still with them, she would loudly be playing music and making their morning miserable for a laugh. So that is exactly what Valentino did and caused a new wave of laughs and tears, and a wonderful breakfast made by Inko and Kokoro when she invited them for the meal.
All three men learned of the family that all but adopted Makoda into their fold, and they were happy that she had found family here in Japan. Seeing Mirai, the man that their little sister fell in love with and danced around for a couple of years, made it hurt all the more as the man seemed to be a shadow of himself, but they could see the fire in his eyes as he talked about Makoda. It was clear he was gearing up to move on, but it would take time and for that they were glad he was finding his feet after such a loss but not quite letting go just yet.
It has been several days since then, his sons had gone back home to inform their family, and he had remained behind, wondering and guessing on his next course of action. He had thought on what to do, seeing the children that Makoda had gushed about had cemented in his mind that they definitely had the training when he saw them at the funeral. So now he found himself here at their dojo, or agency in this case.
"Ah, Master Grande, how are you?" He turned to see the masked hero that hired his daughter standing beside him.
"I'm fine, Gunhead. You?"
"Doing well… Somewhat." Gunhead slumped a bit before mustering up a positive energy the best he could. "Did you want to see Disco's little dojo paradise?"
This caused him to pause a bit before giving a hesitant nod to the man. Valentino followed the hero inside, watching as a good portion of the heroes inside had black armbands with a musical note symbol attached. He gave a hum of approval as they made their way to the training rooms, pausing a bit as they could hear music coming from the room they were heading towards.
~Loving and fighting, Accusing, denying~
~I can't imagine a world with you gone~
~The joy and the chaos, the demons we're made of~
~I'd be so lost if left me alone~
The children, Izuku and Mina, were stretching as they listened to the music. They were trying hard to keep themselves from bursting into tears if their wet cheeks were anything to go by. Gunhead sighed, muttering to himself as he tried to step into the room, but was stopped by Valentino.
"Let me handle this." He said quietly, the hero tilting his head before nodding his head. He silently made his way to the music player before pausing the song. Both children stiffen before finally focusing on the man before them.
"Master Grande!" They both yelped in surprise before bowing to him in respect. He hummed as they got into the proper position and looked towards him. He looked towards the music player, seeing Disco's phone hooked up to it before searching the playlist before finding the proper music to play.
(Capoeira Music for Training and Ginga Workout [2023])
"Begin!" He started, both children stiffening before they began to go through the motions of all they learned. He walked around the two as they went through the motion, finding it hard to find any fault in their movement. It was still very basic skills but far more advanced than what he expected, considering their age and their body limitations. As they reached the end of what they knew, he stood before them and began to move in sync with them until they reached the end of what they knew.
The music shifted as they paused, but watched as the Master continued on, performing moves beyond their skills. He could see them paying close attention to the way he moved, the way their eyes drank in everything he was doing as he performed something they probably only saw their 'Big sister' do.
By the end, both were completely enraptured by his moves, giving sad smiles as they reminisced about a time with their own teacher… and he was reminded of his own time seeing the same look they gave him when it was on his daughter's face.
The music kept playing as he stood before the two, a pleased look on his face as he stared at the two. "Makoda had taught you two well. You are far more along than I thought. How long has she been teaching you two?"
"Almost two years now, Master Valentino." They both stated, nearly causing him to choke in surprise. Makoda was almost 11 when he started teaching her, these two were far more along the course training than she was, and she took to the style like duck to water.
These two were barely 10 years old, who knows what they can do in the next five.
"I suppose this will be a moot point to ask, but I have to ask anyway." He stared at the two as the music began to wind down. "Will you allow me to take over my fallen daughter's teaching? I promise-!?"
Both children cried as they rushed him and hugged his legs, holding him tightly as they wanted to keep learning and make Disco proud, but were unsure how to continue. This caused the older man to give a sad smile and hold the two children and promise to help them. Gunhead had taken a video of the impromptu training and hug, sending it to Inko and Kokoro when he got the chance.
"Now then," the music finally finished as he stood up and all three prepared for training. "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Valentino Grande, Grao Mestre of Capoeira fighting style. You had followed my daughter, a Contra Mestre, diligently and with respect. Now it is time to follow in her footsteps, will you follow my teachings to the letter?"
"Yes, Master Grande!"
"Will you do my daughter proud and use these teachings to help others and to protect yourself?"
"YES MASTER GRANDE!"
"Good. Let us begin!"
It was at this point that it seemed the universe had to allow one last joke to be played on her father, much like she had done when she was growing up.

The heavy death metal music roared out just as Valentino had started to show them the next move. He was so startled by the rough music and screaming that he stumbled and fell on his face, much to his chagrin. The two students froze at this scene before they began to laugh loudly and quickly rush up to help their master and stop the music from blaring any more of the horrid sound.
"It looks like it finally happened." Mina laughed, but she wiped her eyes from the tear that leaked out. Izuku nodded, looking at their Master's face as he grumbled and held his nose in pain as he glared at the phone.
"One final joke, daughter of mine." Valentino scoffed, but gave the two children a tired grin. "Perhaps we still need a day of rest. If I am going to become your Mestre, it would be good to know the area."
This caused both children to beam and began to drag him away, the man promising to his daughter that he would do the best he can in teaching what he knew, just like he did for her.

Dr Garaki waited with anticipation as the hired thugs brought in the body of All for One.
Oh it was such a mess to try and secure the body, and the people he sent had almost been caught several times but they finally managed to secure his latest experiment. Kurogiri was adamant in securing his master, but for the doctor all he had was a new body to work on. Possibly the best body to gain so many potential quirks, some lost to time itself due to not having a chance of being passed onto future generations.
Oh the possibilities!
"Dr Garaki-"
"Oh don't worry, Kurogiri." the doctor waved off the worried minion, "I will do my best in making sure the body isn't too cut up for you. Besides, I was tasked in making sure that All for One's quirk is passed to young Tomura, even if the brat is unworthy of it right now."
He hummed as he prepared his tools, looking towards the cadaver on the operation table. He needed a lot of samples. Shame that All for One died though, it was much easier if he was still alive. Too bad his quirk didn't help in keeping him alive though, perhaps he can find it again and-
Wait, didn't his head look worse off in the pictures?
He held up a scalpel to All for One's head, confused at seeing the discrepancies before shrugging and moving forwards, only to gag as the massive hand clamped around his face and neck and held him in place.
"Kuro-blahh!"All for One called out, only for blood and teeth to spit out from his mouth.
"Master! You are alive!"
Dr Garaki only paled as the face ever so slowly healed, but could tell that All for One was staring at him. "I'm not-gurk…. Not dead yet, Doctor."
"I-I see! Wonderful to see you alive and… well, in one piece." he managed out from the massive hand that was covering his face. He was tossed back, the giant of the man tried to get to his feet, only to stumble and lay back down, hissing in anger and frustration.
"Doctor…" He managed without throwing up a copious amount of blood and tissue this time. "Find me a quirk that will restore my eyes."
This caused the doctor to blink in confusion. "But, Master, you have super regeneration quirk for-"
"THAT BITCH AND ALL MIGHT HAVE ME OVER USE THE QUIRK! I CAN NO LONGER FEEL ITS PRESENCE! I HAD BURNED IT OUT THANKS TO THEM!" He roared, only to spit out blood and what looked like a piece of lung tissue onto the ground. "Find me something Doctor. Now!"
Dr Garaki managed to scurry away to just that, lamenting the fact that his experiment was put on hold. How come nothing ever goes his way?
(End of chapter)
A/N: Hello everyone this is the next chapter and we are finally leaving the bad behind… for now anyways.
For Makoda, there was a point where I had a name in place and thought I put it in the story, but couldn't find it. So I just went with the next best thing, so I hope no one is too annoyed by that. Also, sorry if I am skimming over certain things like the funeral, I… Didn't want to write too much for it as I was reminded of my own time saying goodbye to my little niece.
A couple of more chapters before we hit their entrance exams.
I hope people enjoy what I write and that I hope I am going in the right direction. I also hope that some of the jokes actually hit too. Thanks for reading. Hopefully I will be writing up the next chapter soon.
See ya soon!
