It wasn't a good idea, but Louise had no choice but to accept that she was sleepy. There was no nearby tree that would be within Sasuke's line of sight, assuming he woke up before her. Louise slept, leaning on a tree that was behind Sasuke.

This feeling, this power. This was from him. I understand now.

Sakura looks hurt. Some strangers. Shikimaru, and his team?

"Sakura, who did this to you, who was it"

" Sasuke, what's happened to you." Sakura is concerned. There is no need.

" Don't worry, I'm alright. It's only the power flowing through me, in fact, I've never felt better. He gave me this gift and he made me understand what I am. I'm an avenger. To follow my path I must have power, at any price, even if it means being consumed by evil."

Louise awoke in a sweat. Her body's aches had lessened.

[ What was that. No, I know what that was. It had to be Sasuke. Surely I didn't randomly dream such things? This has to be more of our connection.]

Whatever condition her body was in, Louise could tell she had plenty of sleep. She wondered if that was how it always felt. There had been a sickening pleasure coursing through her. She almost wanted to feel it again.

[ I somehow convinced myself that Sasuke was an uncaring person, but even while talking about accepting being evil, he cared about that girl. Clearly he simply resents me for the situation I put him in. Avenger, that's the second time I have heard him refer to himself as such. And power at any price? Does the familiar rune not give him power? If being cursed is acceptable to him, surely being my familiar is no worse.]

It would be night soon. Sasuke was still asleep, and Louise was at a lost as for what to do next.

[ I'm hungry, thirsty, and want to be healed. Sasuke can surely handle two of those things, but he needs more healing than I do. How do I solve that?]

Louise is taken out of her worries, when Sasuke stirs. Despite being more injured than her, Sasuke does not stumble or seem to have any difficulty standing up. Louise trembles in nervousness as her and Sasuke look at each other.

" How long have I been out?" Sasuke studies Louise.

" Half a day? I haven't been keeping track." Louise studies his eyes in return. Sasuke nods.

" Where did your friends run off to, back to school?" Sasuke doesn't pause, but notices the change of expression on Louise's face.

" They're dead." Louise states. She feels tears in her eyes, but doesn't cry. Her body trembles, but her voice remains stable.

There is an uncomfortable silence.

" Why am I still alive, then?" Sasuke finally responds. Louise grits her teeth.

" Is that all you have to say!"

" I went out of my way to go easy on them. The only person who should of died, if anyone, was you or me."

Louise's face and chest burn. She finds it hard to breathe, her anger boiling. Sasuke sighs.

" I'm sorry, Louise." Sasuke doesn't look bothered, but Louise is forced to believe he truly meant the sentiment.

" Sylphid is some type of shape shifter. She turned into a human look alike. She also tried to kill you, I stopped her. The poor thing is injured, and denied my offer to make her my responsibility. She'll eventually make it to the academy, assuming she hasn't already. We will both be made outlaws." Louise explains.

" That is inconvenient." Sasuke sits down. Louise nods.

[ There is no denying it, she has power. If only her personal power had anything to do with me originally agreeing to this. How many people are stronger than her here? Where could we go where we wouldn't be outlaws? This was supposed to make it easier to work with her, not make her useless! I now have the exact opposite problem. She has personal power, but now no political pull. This was a shit show.]

" Do you have any friends or allies who will be willing to forgive this incident?"

" No, I was already on thin ice with my mother, she might even go out of her way to ensure I am brought to task. My sisters and father will follow her lead. I have a fiance, but he will end that promise when news of this reaches him. And he the captain of Tristain's Griffin Core. My only friend is the princess. Not only will she be immensely disappointed in me, but she will likely be under pressure from Germania to bring me to justice. The Zerbst family has equal influence to my own, and we have been rivals for decades. This will not be a minor issue, Sasuke." Louise laughs, getting a reaction from Sasuke.

" Every connection I have, will actually have reason to put the most effort into seeing me imprisoned or killed. Some will even do it out of love." Louise breaks into hysterics, the tears finally flowing freely.

[ I'm going to be at odds from at least 2 countries. And from multiple factions at that. Fuck. I know she is going to be a pain to deal with. But I might be better off having her around.]

' Louise, we have options. I have a lot of tricks you don't know about. Collect yourself. You summoned an outlaw, so you were destined to become one yourself."

Louise settled down, and got closer to Sasuke.

" That...That sounds like you accept me as your partner in crime." Louise says.

[ Was that a joke? She's insane.]

" Whatever the technical terms may be, I'm never calling you my master. So yes, partners. No one is going to kill or imprison you, Louise." Sasuke can't explain why he's so certain of that.

Louise offers a weak smile.

" Can I hug you?" Louise asks. Sasuke sighs.
