Percy POV:
I ate my breakfast listening to Ron talk about his thoughts about the empousa attack. I nodded my head as he continued rambling, I was starting to warm up to the Gryffindor trio. They were nice and friendly when looking past the snooping and I think we've started to become friends. It was the morning after the attack; some students were still hospitalized. The news of the attack had reached everyone, including those who hadn't even went to the duelling club. After we left the room of requirement, we went and visited the rest of the students. Then Annabeth and I spent some time alone together.
"I still can't believe a bunch of weird Veela thingies attacked us!" Ron continued.
"Veela?" I asked.
"Yeah, what else did you think they were?"
"I wasn't really sure what to think,"
"Though, I don't remember Veela looking like the attackers did," Hermione added.
"You're right," Ron said, "They looked different at the quidditch world cup," His attention shifted back to me. "I completely forgot to ask! Do you like playing quidditch, who is your favourite team? Who is your favourite player?"
"Um, I don't like quidditch," I replied. I wasn't a really big fan of flying. Zeus, lord of the skies wasn't very fond of me, so I preferred to not go in his domain. When I did fly, it was on pegasi. The idea of flying on a broomstick was never very comforting when I came across the concept.
"What?!" Ron cried, "Did you have a team back at CHB? Have you seen quidditch? Have you tried? Do you know how to play?"
"No,"
"To which question?" Harry asked.
"All."
"What?!" Ron repeated, he hooked his arm through mine, "Once the trials start, we're taking you. I'm sure you'll be fine."
"I agree," Harry said, "The way you dodged the loose spells when the Veela things came. I bet you'd be great for any position, but for now let's explain the sport." So the rest of the meal, they explained Quidditch to me. How there were seven players on each team. 3 Chasers, the players who threw a ball called the Quaffle to one another to score a goal of 10 points once the Quaffle goes through one of the 3 hoops of the opposing side. 1 Keeper, the player tries to stop the other team from scoring. 2 Beaters, the players who protect the other members of the team from the 2 Bludgers, balls that went around attempting to knock players off their broomsticks, as well as trying to direct the Bludgers to the other team. 1 Seeker, who tries to find a small ball called the golden snitch which gives the team 150 points, also marking the end of a match.
Our first class of the day was double charms taught by Professor Flitwick, which we shared with the Slytherins. I waved to Nico, who came and sat down at the empty seat next to me. "Good morning class," Professor Flitwick began. "Today, we'll be reviewing some charms and spells that most have difficulty with. You've learnt these all in your previous years, and I hope that the memory sticks. The first will be the Aguamenti charm, who can tell about this spell? Mister Longbottom?"
"The Aguamenti charm makes water come out of your wand," Oh. I like the sound of this charm.
"Correct. Now, I'll call some students to perform this charm on the target placed at the back of my classroom I left. Mister Potter, how about you start?" Harry went down a considerable distance from the back of the classroom and prepared his wand. With a fluid motion, he cried out Aguamenti. A jet of water erupted from the tip of his wand hitting the center of the rubble. "Very nice, Mister Potter. Mister Malfoy, how about you go next?" Draco, smirking, got up from his seat and headed down as Harry went back to his seat. "Nice job," I said, patting him on the back.
Draco took several steps further from where Harry was, stopping only when he was at least a metre further than where Harry had fired the spell. He leaned forward, his wand ready...and tripped from his foot when he stepped forward to cast the spell. "AguaMENTIII!" Draco cried as his hand immediately fled to a nearby desk for balance. Draco's other hand still clutching his wand flailed around, finding itself directed at Harry's face, the water streaming out of its tip. I launched to my feet and stretched out my hands.
The water stopped before it reached Harry's face, mere inches away. All the students who had been laughing at Draco were all staring at me, my hands still out like a doofus. From the corner of my eye, I saw Nico sitting next to me, biting his lips. It was lucky I had my wand in one of my hands, I can just say it was some wacky malfunction or something. I quickly sat back down on my seat, grinning sheepishly. I had to remember no demigod abilities. After a moment's thought the water fell on the desk, some of it sliding to the floor from the front of the desk.
"Mister Jackson," Professor Flitwick began, his voice cautious as it broke through the quietude. "How about you go next?" I nodded and walked away from my seat, feeling all eyes stare at me. "Aguamenti!" I cried, deep inside I was still worried about spells and everything. After all, I had only found out I could do this not too long ago. However, the spell worked perfectly, better than the others I cast. A strong stream of water exited from the tip of my wand and hit the target.
Annabeth POV:
"He did what now?" I asked as I walked in the hallways to my next class. Cho Chang, a Ravenclaw girl I became friends with, had come back after separating from me earlier. "A lot of people are talking about it," She explained, "Percy did some funny water trick in his class this morning,"
"What funny water trick?" I asked growing tense.
"Someone from his class told me they were reviewing the Aguamenti charm. Draco Malfoy had tripped and fired it accidentally at Harry. Percy reached out his hands as if trying to stop it, and it-it worked. Apparently, the water just froze there for the moment before dropping," Percy must have accidentally used his powers. "Annabeth," Cho said, "Are you okay? You have this look on your face."
"I'm fine," I insisted as we entered a classroom. "I'll talk to him about it. It must have been some sort of malfunction with his wand or something,"
