Percy POV:
Annabeth had also received an invitation, but not Nico who seemed ill-interested in the idea when we told him about it. "Slug Club?" He had said, "Sounds ridiculous." However, encouraged us to go saying that being part of an exclusive club could be good. I entered through the doors with Annabeth, seeing a table full of food and Horace Slughorn at one seat with some students already there. "Ah, Percy, Annabeth. So happy you could make it, come sit, sit." We took two empty seats as Slughorn ushered us to eat. "We're almost a full house now, ah there we are! Miss Granger! Harry, m'boy, welcome back!" Hermione and Harry nodded without saying anything after entering and sat down, Hermione next to me, and Harry in between her and Ron's sister Ginny.
"I say, we still have a talented bunch here today," He smiled, and pointed in the direction of Annabeth and me, "First time, we've had American students. How is your school, CHB? Did you have houses back there?"
"Um, yes, we did," Annabeth began.
"What were they like?" It was obvious to me that Annabeth wasn't too fond of the idea of talking about Camp Half-Blood, so I figured I'd talk about it instead. I mean, the small details wouldn't hurt. "Well, they're numbered," Annabeth gave me an inquisitive look but didn't seem to have any scold in it. She knew this might have come out eventually, especially if we were joining forces with the wizarding world, but her look still told me to be sparse about the information we were sharing. "And rather than houses, it was more of cabins."
"Which cabins were you a part of? Did you have heads there too?"
"I'm in cabin 6, Percy is in cabin 3." Annabeth explained, "Each cabin has one of its members as a counsellor."
"I suppose American magic schools and Hogwarts aren't so different. Who were the counsellors from your cabins?"
"Well, Annabeth's the counsellor of her cabin, but when she's not there she's substituted by Malcolm Pace. I am the counsellor in my cabin, however, I don't have a substitute since there aren't many people in my cabin."
"Ah, so it's like a special cabin,"
"Well, not really, it's just that not a lot of students get put there."
"As I said, special." Slughorn laughed and began cutting up the meat on his plate. "I had a feeling that'd be the case, you do seem like the type to both be counsellors. The way you two held off the attackers on the duelling club when the professors arrived! Magnificent!" Nervous laughs went around the room. I wasn't sure, but I think this guy just completely forgot about Nico.
Slughorn continued speaking, ignoring the tension in the room. "Annabeth, you have so much brilliance that even rivals Hermione! And Percy," He sighed, "I don't even know where to start. I was passing by Filius's classroom and I say the magic you did to control water, simply stunning! And when you flew on that Pegasus! It was like a common sport for you! I haven't seen a Pegasus rider in a while, and certainly not one like you!"
"Actually," Annabeth stated, "Percy said the water incident was just a malfunction of his wand."
"A humble wizard, I see," Slughorn said. "I came in late to one of the meals and heard you speaking of another dark wizard, whom you defeated. Dirt Face, that was her name, right?" I saw Annabeth hold in a spit take, of course, out of all the names to call Gaea, I chose Dirt Face.
I'm so smart.
"Um, yes, but we prefer not to talk about it. Some close to us died in the struggle."
"I understand," Slughorn said, nodding his head. "During the second wizarding war which most students participated in, we also lost several great wizards and witches."
"You know Ron also helped in the battle," Harry chimed in.
"Who?" Slughorn said, "Oh, Randall. So nice of him to tag along with you and Hermione."
"How come Ron didn't get an invitation?" Ginny added.
"Don't worry, my decision to choose students have rarely ever been wrong."
"Of course, that was true when you got some future Death Eaters to be members," Hermione said.
"And Tom Riddle," Harry added.
"I did say rarely now, didn't I? Besides, this time I made sure that the students who remind me somewhat of Tom, they aren't included,"
"What about Nico?" I asked.
"As I said, they aren't included." Slughorn repeated, "Let's all get to know one another here. I say-"
"So, how was the Slug Club meeting?" Ron asked as we entered the dormitories. "I think I rather stay with you," Harry replied.
"I think Slughorn talks more in dinner than he does in class," I said. Most of the time at the dinner, he was the one in charge of every conversation also shifting the topic a lot to Camp Half-Blood which Annabeth and I tried our best, and in my opinion did a pretty good job, to avoid. "Did you find out why I wasn't invited?" Ron urged.
"I think Professor Slughorn overlooks you. He said you tagged along on with Hermione and me." Harry responded. Ron blew a raspberry, then added, "You should still stay, in case he decides to reveal some information he shouldn't again." Dumbledore had mentioned how Voldemort had been in the Slug Club and obtained the information about Horcruxes from Slughorn. Ron looked over to me, "Well, you see Slughorn-"
"You don't need to explain," I responded. Ron nodded his head and tucked himself under the covers. "Say, Percy, are you going to go to Hogsmeade tomorrow?"
"Hogsmeade?"
"It's a wizarding village nearby, it's amazing." Harry said, "But your guardians need to give permission." My mom had already been informed that I was at a wizarding school in Britain. She took the idea of the existence of wizards and witches much better than I expected. I guess that's what happens when you have a son with the greek god of the sea. Though the few moments before we came to Hogwarts weren't enough to get permission slips signed, not that most of us could anyway. It seemed almost funny that we would ask our godly parents to sign a permission slip, and our mortal parents...well, that wasn't really an option either. My mom might have agreed, however, Nico's mortal mother was dead, and Annabeth's relationship with her father was tense in more ways than one. "I don't have any permission."
"Maybe we can smuggle you out?" Ron suggested.
"How would you do that?" I asked, "Apparition isn't possible at Hogwarts, and I don't think there's another way for you to bring me with you." Of course, Dumbledore had already mentioned the story of the three Deathly Hallows with one of them, the invisibility cloak, being in Harry's possession. It was like Annabeth's Yankees hat from her mother which could also turn the wearer invisible. Though, they didn't know that I knew. The idea of Hogsmeade was tempting, but we already discussed that for now, it was best if we stayed at Hogwarts. "It's okay," I continued quickly, once Ron began tongue-tied. "Annabeth and Nico don't have permission to go either, I can stay here with them,"
