Chapter 7

The last month before her return to earth seemed to drag, but every day, she kept up with her routines until the book was full and her body was now more lean a muscular. Every night, she dreamt of the things she had done. The people she had killed in the name of protecting her people or her daughter. They haunted her, but when she woke, she reminded herself that that life no longer existed. Those deaths, at least not all of them, didn't need to happen.

She wasn't sure why she had been given a chance to start over or why she alone had been chosen. She was grateful none the less. Every day, she got closer to being with Lexa again, and she wasn't going to waste time with her. She had pushed her away and been filled with hatred only to realise to late that she loved her.

She knew now that it wasn't just a second chance for her but a second chance for all of hers and Lexa's people. She hoped the changes she had already begun to make would be beneficial but knew the real changes would begin on earth.

The day before her descent to earth, her Mom had sent a message wrapped in some clean clothes. It read 'it's happening tomorr. Bebe ready. Love Mom.' That nig, t Clarke couldn't sleep the anticipation bubbed in her stomach. The weight of everything she had to achieve weighed on her as she replayed the timeline and the changes she wished to make. She wondered if she was making the right choices and hoped that this time they would get it right.

She must have dozed off because she was woken by a commotion nearby. She heard the shouts of the other inmates and quickly left from her bed. She quickly stripped out of her old clothes, wash, d and brushed her teeth before dressing in the clothes her mother had sent. She felt better having her signature leather jacket back. Insi, e she noticed a pocket had been sewn inside was a note from her mother that she decided to read later. The pock is t big enough to fit her notebook. She quickly raked her fingers through her hair antiedie half of it back. She waited.

Soon, her door was unlocked, and two guards stepped inside. She let them put her bracelet on. She noticed that this time they didn't try to take her father's watch. Maybe her mother had told them to let her keep it. She calmly walked out of the cell and was met by the arms for her mother.

Her mom kissed her, told her to be brave, and that she loved her. Clarke repeated the sentiment and told her to remember what she said about Jaha.

They led her to the drop ship. Clarke, having been sedated last time, had missed this part, but she watched as everyone was filed in and strapped to their seats. She noticed Wells sat in the seat next to her as soon as she walked in. She smiled at him.

"What are you doing here? What did you do?"

"Do you really think I was gonna let my best friend go to earth without me? We always talked about this as kids... we always promised we'd be together. "

"What did you do to get here?"

"Well, when I found out from eavesdropping on my Dad, I knew I had to get locked up so I could be here with you. So I may have kicked a guard in the groin?" He chuckles.

Clarke chuckles, too. "You're lucky that your Jaha's son, assault on the guard usually results in floating regardless of age."

He grins a big goofy grin at her "yeh it was pretty stupid."

Before they can continue the conversation, the doors are shut, and drop ship is launched.

Clarke pinches her eyes shut for a second as the anxiety turns her stomach upside down with the vibrations of the ship.

The vibration stops as the hit zero G and a message from Jaha cuts in. As before, Finn and a few others get out of their seats to float about. She grits her teeth, but before she can say anything, Wells pipes up

"Get back in your seats. We are going to hit the atmosphere soon,"

The kids laugh as Finn does a flip in the air, and they ignore Wells.

Clarke speaks up.

"Get back in your seats now if you want to live. Once we hit the atmosphere, you'll be thrown against the ship when the gravity hits"

Some listen to her, but Finn floats by

"What's the matter, Princess? Are you scared to have some fun?"

"No space walker. I'm scared you're going to get people killed now. Sit down!"

Humiliated Finn floats back to his seat and straps in just before the drop ship goes into the earth atmosphere. One of the 100 isn't as fast and gets thrown across the deck, breaking his back and making no sound. Clarke shakes her head and throws a look at Finn, who at least has the sense to look ashamed.

The ship shakes violently, and Clarke braces against her seat until the jets start to slow, and she feels the impact of earth. Earth! She is home again she thinks with a small smile.
