Hi everyone, before I get started on this next chapter, I would just like to thank you all for reading, liking, following, and reviewing. I am so glad that other people are enjoying the story as much as I am writing it! I am trying to update as much as possible when I have the time so I am sorry if they aren't as regular as you would like. As always, I do not own the characters and this story is for entertainment purposes only. Much love ~ MoonGazer94

Chapter 9

Clarke went into the drop ship and looked under her seat to retrieve the med kit, underneath she found a rucksack, and inside was the med kit but also other things. She ignored everything else for a moment and checked what her mom had managed to get her. Inside there were sterile bandages, alcohol wipes, a suture kit, two bottles of antibiotics, and one of morphine along with multiple needles. Her mom had done better than she had expected and taken a great risk to get her things that would definitely be useful. She sent a thank you to her mom and smiled.

It was at this moment she remembered the note her mom had slipped inside her jacket, she reached in and pulled it out. Her fingers shook a little as she unfolded it. It read.

' Clarke I started this letter without knowing what I really wanted to say, I just want you to know how proud I am of you and how much I love you. I am deeply sorry for how things turned out with your dad, but I know you do not want my apologies. I made a mistake and I will do everything I can to fix it. I think when you open the med kit you should be pleasantly surprised with what I managed to gather and don't worry nobody suspects anything. I am safe. I also wanted to let you know I will bare in mind what you said about Jaha and I will not put my position at risk. Sinclair helped me hide the bag under your chair, he was very close to your father. He's a good man, he said he was going to add some things to help you out. Be careful Clarke, I want to tell you to look after yourself first, but I know that's not in your nature. So, look after everyone sweetie, I know you can but find people whom you trust to help you. I hope the ground is survivable, I want to believe it so much. We will be together again sweetie, I know it. I love you, may we meet again. ~ mom '

A single tear escape Clarke's eye before she could stop it, she smiled the same sad smile her dad used to and folded the note back into her pocket. Inside the bag, she found some rope, zip ties, an empty water sack, a multitool with a pen knife which would come in very handy, and a long-range radio. Clarke didn't think the radio would work with mount weather interfering with the signals, she turned it on and tried to search for a frequency, but nothing seemed t be getting through. She may need to find an open place further away from the mountain and the coverage of the trees to be able to pick something up. If that didn't work she'd give it to Monty and see what he can do with it, but she'd have to make sure Bellamy didn't find it. So, for now, she turned to radio off, removed it from the bag, and hid it back under her chair she put the backpack on but kept the multi-tool out.

As she walked through the drop ship, she used it to cut the seat belt of the chair and put them in her bag with the rope. She walk out the door and found a relatively straight stick that she could sharpen into a spear and picked up some bits of metal to use as knives. She missed having her weapons from the previous timeline but she would get others, hopefully, better ones this time. Clarke walked over to the gate sharpening the tip of her spear as she walked. Jasper and Monty were already waiting for her by the gate and Octavia was nearby arguing with Bellamy. As she approached Finn came bounding up to the group,

"ready to go princess?" he snarked. Before Clarke could reply they were interrupted by Bellamy shouting,

"No Octavia, you aren't going!" Clarke decided to step in,

"look I get this is a family thing, you're worried about her so here's the deal, you stay here and keep an eye on everything making sure everyone is pulling their weight and I'll look out for Octavia, although I doubt she needs it. My mom managed to sneak me some medical supplies so if anything goes wrong I'll be able to help her and also I've got my spear so I can protect her, deal?" Bellamy hesitates for a minute but with everyone looking at him expectantly he caves,

"Fine, but if anything happens to her, you'll regret it" Bellamy huffs and stalks away. Octavia turns to Clarke,

"thanks but I don't need you to protect me!"

"Octavia look I know that, you seem like a strong person. I told him that because he wasn't going to let you go otherwise, and it seemed like you wanted to go. I know you don't want to be protected and treated like a fragile flower, you've probably had that most of your life. I will protect you though not because you need it but because you're one of my people. We have to protect each other...and who knows maybe we could even be friends" Clarke smiles and walks out towards the forest leaving everyone to follow her.
