Just a few minutes before showtime, the excitement in the studio was building. Nobody knew much about this show, as it had been largely lost historically. They also knew nothing of how easily a contestant could win a massive prize. All the audience knew as they grew increasingly restless was Mina Mongoose was going to come out any minute to introduce a show which could change television.

Right on time, after hours of preparation that day, the final details were in place. All of the technology was working, makeup for the host and contestant were complete, and everything was in its proper position on the set to begin this show. After the count of another producer backstage, the lights going out, leaving just those in the backstage entrance tunnel, Mina's voice came through on the speakers in the studio, not loud and energy building, but serious and drawing all the focus on her, even if nobody saw her just yet.

"I am walking onto the set of a brand-new game show," she started, "where all one has to do to win the biggest prize on Mobian television is to defy the odds, and be willing to push their luck enough to do so. Twenty briefcases, some with pocket change, and others holding a small fortune will decide what our contestant wins tonight," she said as she rounded the corner to where the audience could see her in the spotlight. "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome… to DEAL, or NO DEAL!" she finished, her voice boomed through the speakers. Perfectly timed, the lights in the studio went up, and the thunderous applause and shouts of the audience filled the studio.

After the introductory cue played, she faced the main camera from behind a desk. She kept her traditional color scheme, sporting her usual crop top and black and purple skirt.

"Good evening everybody, and welcome to Deal or No Deal!", Mina exclaimed, eliciting a short shout from the audience. "As I just said, tonight's contestant could win a huge amount of money if he has a lot of luck and nerves of steel to back his selections. Speaking of which, let's meet him. He's a 23 year old waiter at Castle Diner, who loves skateboarding and collecting autographs. Please welcome… Brandy!

Brandy rode out quickly on his skateboard, while the audience applauded the bright white chameleon. After showing off his skills, the audience settled down, allowing Mina to continue.

"How are you tonight, Brandy?"

"Smashing," he casually replied.

"So tell us a bit more about yourself if you could."

"If you haven't seen, I live to skate. I've got a few world records under my belt. I also like meeting famous people. If you've got the time, I have a cigar case that needs signing."

"Sure thing!" she responded as she took his cigar case and marker and signed it right across the top. After signing, she continued once again, "An impressive list you have here!" as she pointed the case toward the camera. The audience oohed as they say the top covered in names. "Well, now that we have that listed, are you ready to play our game?" She enthusiastically asked him.

"Let's rumble!" He exclaimed.

"Ok!" She said. The audience applauded as she began explaining the rules of the game. "We have twenty cases, each with a different number of rings inside. The values were randomly placed in the cases before the show began. Except for our independent adjudicator, nobody knows which value is in which case. However, we do know what amounts you will find in the cases, including our top prize, of ONE… THOUSAND RINGS! ($60,000)" She shouted with more enthusiasm than a team mom at her son's t-ball game. The audience in the studio cheered so loudly that they had to tone it down for the TV airing, and the graphic lit up the board. She finished when she was finally able to be heard again, "all the way down to one copper ring ($.15)." The board filled up with the remaining 19 amounts so it looked like this:

1c 20

10c 30

1s 50

3s 75

5s 100

10s 150

1 200

3 300

5 500

10 1,000

Mina then walked over to the cases. "All you have to do to win our top prize tonight is to pick the case with the thousand inside." Turning around So, Brandy, where do you think it is?"

"Well, my birth year is 2000, so let's make it 20." He said. The spotlights immediately all moved over to the aforementioned case.

"Case 20!" Mina said, the sound effect played as she brought it over to the desk and placed it on its stand. "Ok, now whatever in inside this case is yours to keep and do as you please with it, including sell it to our banker. He is the shadowy figure up there in that box, and it is his money you are winning. He is determined to get you out of the game for as little as possible, but we'll get back to him a bit later. For now, we're going to learn a bit more about what is inside your case, case number 20. To do that, we're going to open some of the other cases. Whatever is in the other cases is not in yours. We will start by opening up four cases in the first round. Which case would you like to begin with?"

"Lucky number 7," he said, nodding in its direction as he said it.

Mina walked over to the case. "Case number 7. We are looking for a low number in here. It is…" She said as she slowly peeked inside the case before flinging it open. "Thirty rings! Good pick there, not too high. We are going to remove that amount from the board, since the thirty is not in your case", she said, gesturing to the board, where the number was removed. The audience lightly applauded, realizing the 30 rings was a good amount, but not too excited it was not a bit lower.

"Not a bad start," Brandy commented. "May I have case number 12 next, please?

"Ok, case 12. This one holds… five silvers!" She continued excitedly, letting the front of the case fall until the hinges prevented it from opening further.

"Beautiful!" Brandy yelled, the audience cheering loudly in the background. That small amount was removed from play as well. After that brief moment of excitement, Brandy continued by picking his third case, "Let's take down case 1!"

"Third case of Deal or No Deal, is it good for you? It…" she trailed off until looking inside the case, "…is very good! Ten coppers!" She yelled, the audience roared, easily seeing how the game is being played. Brandy pumped his fist in the air, as a third, very low case was taken from the board.

"One more case before the first offer from our banker, Brandy, keep up the good picks!"

"Let me get number 15," he said. Once again, the lights were on Mina who had moved over to open it.

"Ok, to have a very good first round of the show, case 15… is twenty rings, what a pick!"

The graphic showed the twenty ring was not gone, and the audience kept applauding all the way through it, and up until the studio lights turned red and the phone on the desk started ringing.

"That's the Banker." Mina said. "As I said earlier, he does not want you to take his money, and is going to try to buy you out of this game for as little as possible. Let's hear what he has to say, she said, taking the call. "Hello?" "Yes, you'll need it." "Ok." She said while on the phone. She hung up, and opened a plexiglass box on the desk. He wished good luck… for himself in this game. He also gave me an offer. If you say deal and hit the red button there, you sell your case to him for the amount he offered you. If you say no deal and shut the box, you will have to open more cases. In round two, you must open four further cases."

"Ok" Brandy said, nodding to show his understanding.

Mina clapped her hands together seriously and looked at the chameleon straight into his eyes, while stepping toward him slowly. "And that offer… is coming up, right after this break!" She said, smiling and looking right into the camera placed behind Brandy. The logo flew in, and the show went to the first commercial break of the night.
