If you're re-reading after a long time, I made some changes to Chapter 7. If you're new here, then ignore what I just said.
I headcanon Saavik and her sister to be Phineas and Ferb-level geniuses.
For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again:but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
"Engines at maximum warp, Captain." Sulu told Pike.
Pike looked at the young Russian. "Russian whiz kid, what's your name? Chenko? Chirpoff?" he asked.
"Ensign Chekov, Pavel Andreievich, ser." Chekov replied. "Qwirk, super strength."
"Fine, Chekov, Pavel Andreievich, begin shipwide mission broadcast." said Pike.
"Yes, ser, happy to." Chekov replied, and told the Enterprise "Ensign authorization code nine-five-wictor-wictor-two."
"Authorization not recognized." said the Enterprise. "Your accent makes it difficult. I'll do it myself." she said, and began a shipwide broadcast. "This is Lieutenant 1701. May I have your attention, please. At twenty-two hundred hours, telemetry detected at an anomaly in the neutral zone. What appeared to be a lightning storm in space. Soon after, Starfleet received a distress signal from Vulcan High Command that their planet was experiencing seismic activity. Our mission is to assess the condition of the planet, and to assist in the evacuations if necessary. We should be arriving at Vulcan within three minutes. Thank you for your time."
The broadcast was live in sickbay as well, and as the Enterprise was talking, Kirk, who had been previously in a hypo-induced coma, woke up and gasped "Pointy ears!"
"Uh, Jim, you're awake. How do you feel?" asked Bones, who was standing next to him. Kirk moaned uncomfortably in response.
"Holy bagumba!" McCoy exclaimed. "Your hands!"
"What?" Kirk asked. When he looked at his hands, he saw two horribly swollen lumps. "What the hell's this?!" he screamed.
"Reaction to the vaccine. Dammit! Nurse, I need fifty cc's of cortazone." said McCoy.
"Coming!" replied a young girl's voice, and soon, Joanna McCoy came into view, carrying the exact amount of cortazone needed, closely followed by Saavik.
"Kids, what are you doing here? It's dangerous." Bones said.
"But Daddy, I'll be good." said Joanna. "Plus, Saavik's got super awesome mind powers, she can protect me!"
"Affirmative." replied the Vulcanoid girl.
Kirk and McCoy both face-palmed, with the doctor mumbling "Dammit..." and then Kirk replayed the Enterprise's message. "Nice. We got to stop the ship!" said the blonde.
LATER...
Kirk, McCoy, Joanna and Saavik were in a tizzy. Their frenzied footsteps echoed through the Enterprise's corridors. "Jim! I'm not kidding, we need to keep your heart rate down!" said McCoy.
"Lieutenant 1701, locate crew member Uhura!" Kirk cried.
"I haven't seen a reaction this severe since med school." Bones grumbled.
"We're flying into a trap!" Kirk cried.
"Dammit, Jim, stand still." Bones grumbled.
"Perhaps I can help with that, Doctor." said Saavik, and used her telekinesis to fix Kirk in place, allowing Bones to hypo him in the neck.
Just then, Uhura scooched down to the girl's level. "You must be Saavik! Spock told me so much about you. And who's your friend?"
"Joanna McCoy." said Joanna. "Doc McCoy is my daddy!" she squealed.
"Aren't you two a little young to be on starships?" asked Uhura.
"Yes." Saavik replied. "Yes, we are."
"C'mon." said Uhura. "We've gotta get to the bridge." She then looked at Kirk's hands and exclaimed "What the hell is wrong with your hands?"
"It-it-it... look, who is responsible for the Klingon attack? Was the ship Romul..." Kirk mumbled as Bones scanned him again, and then healed him with his quirk.
"Was the ship what?" asked Uhura.
"Romulan!" exclaimed Kirk, just as a plethora of other people came running down the corridor, namely Sherman, Bethany, Lynne and Klingon Lady. "Shermy, Beth, am I glad to see you here!" said the blonde.
"Captain Lucero, why are you here?" Uhura asked. "Also, who's that woman beside you?"
"She's a vigilante. All me an' me crew wished been to find that there kid o'er 'ere 'er way backaft to 'er da, but it was then that we got tangled with Miss Honor 'ere." said Lynne.
Lady smirked. "You may call me tlhIngan ley'DI'."
"Nyota Uhura." replied Uhura, and the two shook hands.
"Dammit..." McCoy grumbled. "The Number Three Pro Hero, a pirate, a vigilante and two kids stowing away on our ship, what would Captain Pike say?"
"Oh, come now." said Lynne. "I've only been a pirate fer three months!"
"Yet you speak like one already." said Uhura.
"We've gotta get going." said Kirk.
And everybody began running again.
On the surface of Planet Vulcan, Amanda Grayson saw a massive drill platform in the atmosphere, from her home. Was it finally time for Electoplant to come out of retirement?
Meanwhile, on the bridge of the Narada, Ayel walked over to his captain. "Lord Nero, seven Federation ships are on their way, as well as one ship that appears to be our own."
"Our own?" asked Nero.
"Yes, although the intention is unclear." said Ayel.
As he spoke, a communication screen whirred to life. "Mystery vessel, this is Commander Liviana Charvanek of the RIS Memenda. May I inquire what is it you seek at Vulcan?" inquired the auburn-haired female who appeared on it.
"This is Captain Nero of the Narada." replied Nero. "I seek revenge."
"Revenge? For what?" Charvanek asked.
"For home." Nero snarled.
Charvanek was dumbstruck. "I do not understand. Romulus has been peaceful for many generations."
"Of course you do not understand." Nero hissed, "Maybe this man here can explain it to you. Bring the prisoner!"
Soon, two of the Narada crew members hauled an old Vulcan up to the bridge. "Speak!" barked the tattooed captain, pointing his teral'n at the old Vulcan's neck. "I remember seeing you many cycles ago. You said to me, "Our people are warriors. Often savage. But we are also many other pleasant things."."
"Excuse me, I do not remember meeting you before." said Charvanek.
"In my timeline, we did meet." said the old Vulcan. "And please forgive me. I am the reason Captain Nero is hell-bent on revenge. I...had been too late."
"Captain!" Kirk said as he hurriedly ran into the bridge, his entourage following closely behind.
"Jim, no!" Bones cried.
"Captain Pike, we have to stop the ship!" said the blonde.
"Kirk, how the hell did you get on board the Enterprise?!" Pike exclaimed. "And with two minors, a Pro Hero, a Klingon and...Lynne Lucero? I have no idea how did they all end up here..."
Lynne sighed. "Long story short, some mysterious force brought us all together." she said.
"And contrary to my appearance, I am only part-Klingon." said Lady. "It is also a long story."
"Sorry, ma'am." said Pike.
"It is okay." said Lady. "It's a common mistake to make."
Pike sighed. "It's too late to go back now, so I'll have to count them among the crew and take full responsibility when I get back."
"Vulcan is not experiencing a natural disaster. It's being attacked by Romulans." said Kirk.
"Romulans? Cadet Kirk, I think you've had enough attention for one day." said Pike.
"Look, sir, that same anomaly..." Kirk began.
"Jim, please." Pike said, cutting in.
"Mr. Kirk is not cleared to be aboard this vessel." Spock said.
That was when Bethany stepped up. "Neither are you, Commander."
"I..." Spock attempted to speak, only to be cut off by one Carol Marcus.
"If I remember correctly, when Mr. Kirk challenged you to that one-on-one, both him and you were grounded by the Admiralty." said Carol.
"But you're here now, aren't you?" added Keisha O'Neil, leaving Spock speechless.
"Go ahead, Jim." said Lydia Kuze. "Tell us everything."
Kirk took a deep breath, and began speaking. "Everyone, listen. Vulcan is under attack."
"Based on what facts?" said Spock.
"That same anomaly, a lightning storm in space that we saw today, also occurred on the day of my birth. Before a Romulan ship attacked the USS Kelvin." the blonde continued, then turned to Pike. "You know that, sir, I read your dissertation. That ship which had formidable and advanced weaponry was never seen or heard from again. The Kelvin attack to place on the edge of Klingon space and at twenty-three hundred hours last night, there was an attack. Forty-seven Klingon warbirds destroyed by a Romulan, sir. It was reported that the Romulans were in one ship, one massive ship."
"And you know of this Klingon attack how?" asked Pike.
"Sir, I intercepted and translated the message myself. Kirk's report is accurate." Uhura backed Kirk up.
"We're warping into a trap, sir. The Romulans are waiting for us, I promise you that." Kirk said.
"The cadet's logic is sound. And Lieutenant Uhura is unmatched in xenolinguistics, we would be wise to accept her conclusion." said Spock.
"Scan Vulcan space, check for any transmissions in Romulan." Pike ordered.
"Sir, I'm not sure I can distinguish the Romulan language from Vulcan." said Lydia.
"What about you? Do you speak Romulan, cadet?" Pike asked Uhura.
"Uhura. All three dialects, sir." replied the African.
"Very well, Uhura. You are our Chief Communications Officer." said Pike. "Kuze, hail the USS Discovery."
"All the other ships are out of warp, sir, and have arrived at Vulcan, but we seemed to have lost all contact." said Lydia.
"Sir, I pick up no Romulan transmission, or transmission of any kind in the area." Uhura added.
"It's because they're being attacked." Kirk said.
"Shields up, red alert." said Pike.
"Arrival in Vulcan in five seconds... four... three... two..." Sulu began counting down, and the Enterprise dropped out of warp to find the other six ships, plus a Romulan warcraft, engaged in a fierce space battle with a gigantic, terrifying, many-tentacled starship, and Pike began snapping out orders.
"Emergency evasive!"
"Running, sir!"
"Damage report!"
"Deflector shields are holding."
"Captain, the Romulan ship has lowered some kind of high energy pulse device into the Vulcan atmosphere. Its signal appears to be blocking our communications and transporter abilities." Spock reportes.
"We're being hailed!" exclaimed Uhura.
An auburn-haired, pointy-eared woman appeared on a screen. "This is Commander Liviana Charvanek of the RIS Memenda."
"Hello, Livi." said Lynne as she waved.
"Livi?" asked Pike, and Lynne shrugged.
"Not the time, Lucero." said Charvanek, and addressed Pike again. "We tried to talk him out of revenge, and it, as you may see, failed."
"Him?" asked Spock. "May I inquire, who's "him"?"
"The captain of that accursed vessel." said the commander. "Could we agree, that until we take him down, we could be temporary allies?" she asked.
"That doesn't sound like the best thing ever but, yes, agreed." said Pike.
"Oh, this may be too much information, but they have a Vulcan elder prisoner." said Charvanek.
"We will try to rescue him." said Pike, and the two commanding officers nodded in agreement before ending the call.
Meanwhile, aboard the Narada, the weapons officer alerted Nero "Sir, there's another Federation ship."
"Destroy it, too." said Nero. "No. Wait a minute...Magnify!"
"Yes, sir." said the weapons officer, and Nero saw the NCC-1701 insignia clearly.
"Hail them." ordered the captain.
Soon, a human man's face appeared onscreen. "I'm Captain Christopher Pike. To whom am I speaking?" he asked.
Nero grinned. "Ollo, Christopher, I'm Nero."
"You've declared war against the Federation. Withdraw. I and Commander Charvanek will agree to arrange a conference with Romulan leadership at a neutral location." said Pike.
"I do not speak for the Empire. We stand apart, as does your Vulcan crewmember, isn't that right, Spock?" Nero said, in a mocking tone.
"Pardon me, I do not believe that you and I are acquainted?" Spock asked.
"No, we're not. Not yet. Spock, there's something I would like you to see. Captain Pike, your transporter has been disabled. As you can see by the rest of your armada, you have no choice. You will man a shuttle, come aboard the Narada, for negotiations. That is all." replied Nero, and turned off the communication.
Back on the Enterprise, Pike got up and prepared to leave. "He'll kill you, you know that." said Kirk.
"Your survival is unlikely." Spock added.
"Captain, we gain nothing by diplomacy. Going over to that ship is a mistake." said Kirk.
"I, too, agree. You should re-think your strategy." Spock added.
"I understand that. I need officers who have been trained in advanced hand-to-hand combat, and if you have quirks, that would also be useful." said Pike.
"I have training, sir." said Bethany. "Also I can freeze anyone who dares to harm you."
"So have I." Lydia said. "I've honed my quirk for so long, my hair will be useful."
"As the Number Three Pro Hero, I have experience in combat." Sherman added.
"Count me in." said Lady. "I've been fighting in the shadows for so long. Had I grown up on Earth, I would have made a great hero as well."
"Me too." said Lynne. "You've seen what I can do before."
Sulu was the last one to volunteer. "Both my skills and my force-field quirk will be of help to you." he said.
"Come with me, people. Kirk, you too. You're not supposed to be here anyway. I leave the bridge to Lieutenant 1701." said Pike, and turned to Joanna and Saavik. "Now, children, you best behave while I'm gone. Why not go play down in engineering?" he asked.
"Affirmative." said Saavik.
"Yay!" Joanna exclaimed.
"Captain, may I go down there?" asked Spock. "I could use my quirk to fry...um...disable that machine that has interfered with our gear. It's my planet we're talking about, so I may as well have a hand in it."
"You may." said Pike. He had seen his first officer in action multiple times, the half-Vulcan wasn't called the Thunderbird of Starfleet for nothing. If anyone could end that machine, it was him.
Spock smiled, and walked over to Uhura. They passionately made out for a while, then they broke apart and Spock said "I'll be back."
"You better be. I'll be monitoring your frequency." said the African.
"Thank you, Nyota." said Spock, and rejoined Pike and others.
"Her name is Nyota?!" Kirk asked incredulously.
Pike commed his Chief Engineer. "Mr. Scott, we need a warp gate right now."
In a poof of dark smoke, said engineer appeared right in front of the little strike team. "How may I serve ye, cap'n?" asked Scotty.
"Warp us aboard that ugly ass Romulan ship." said Pike. "And I've sent two kids down to engineering, keep them in check."
"Aye." replied Scotty, and covered Pike and his entourage in dark fog.
