Chapter Twenty-Three:

In Legal Trouble With Nintendo

Her hands gripped the steering tightly, her foot hard pressed on the gas, even with SMG4's hands around her body. Despite being focused as they drove across the lush green countryside of the Mushroom Kingdom towards the security checkpoint, Meggy was uncertain.

"SMG4, are you sure about this?" She asked.

"I'm positive." The meme man replied

Meggy hit the gas harder and tore past a mushroom, driving right through the security checkpoint and startling the Kremling Guard as well as a pair of Nintendo Ninjas.

As an alarm wailed and the guards scrambled, discussing what had just happened, Meggy and SMG4 drove on, driving across the wasteland that was Desolate Desert, away from the Mushroom Kingdom for now.

Outside of Toad Town, Mario and Luigi were dispensing memes to a pair of Goombas and Koopas along with a couple Toads. It hadn't been long since their operation started and it looked like a real success so far, especially when their next customer came up, a Goomba wearing a blue hat.

Mario recognized him in an instant, it was Goombaro, the Goomba kid. Luigi gave Goombaro a PINGAS and the kid headed off to take it, but the mood shifted when the Goomba wheeled around and drew a gun on the brothers.

"UNDERCOVER POLICE, HANDS IN THE AIR!" The Goomba kid cried.

Sirens wailed as vans pulled up, a pair of Nintendo Ninjas arrived on the scene with their guns in hand. The lead van opened up and Lawyer Kong himself stepped out, staring at the two brothers with a scowl in his eyes.

"You guys have been busy." The monkey said, "But this all comes to an end now, best to end your operation and come with us. I can certainly tell you know, there will most definitely be legal consequences for the mess you've been making."

Mario was in a panic. "Luigi! What do we do?!" He cried.

Luigi White stood up and walked towards Lawyer Kong, staring at him intensely without even a hint of fear in his eyes as Mario watched with worry. The Nintendo Ninjas stood their ground, keeping their weapons trained.

The green Italian then stopped halfway towards Lawyer Kong, eying him very clearly with an unfazed expression in his eyes.

"You really think I'm scared of you?" Luigi said, he laughed in a nearly sinister manner, "We're all-star video game actors. We are Nintendo. You can't hurt us, especially because you know what will happen if you do, imagine what your boss would say if he found out what you did to the Super Mario Brothers..."

Lawyer Kong's confident expression faltered. "Er, well, uh..." He stammered, "You do have a point there..."

"Say my name." Luigi said.

Lawyer Kong was nervous, so too were the Nintendo Ninjas.

"Luigi." Mario quipped.

Luigi smirked.

"L-Luigi." Lawyer Kong said finally.

"You're damn right." The green Italian said.

"Wh-What do we do, boss?" A Nintendo Ninja asked.

"So, if you excuse us..." Luigi rubbed his hands together, "We're just going to be on our way and..."

"Objection!"

Lawyer Kong grinned menacingly at the plumber, Luigi kept his cool, wondering what tricks that monkey had up his sleeve. Lawyer Kong crossed his arms, smirking like the smug monkey that he was.

"Oh, Luigi. There's one thing you forgot..." He said.

"And what's that?" Luigi asked.

Lawyer Kong's grin widened. "Your mom." He said.

His confidence melted away, his eyes wide with grief. Luigi dropped to the ground, thinking of what Lawyer Kong had just said to him. Mario looked at his brother, completely taken by surprise by how quick things just turned.

"Luigi? Are you okay?" Mario asked.

"I-I'm sorry, Mario." Luigi whimpered, "I'm a failure."

Lawyer Kong grinned triumphantly and nodded to his Ninjas. "Grab 'em, fellas! Chuck 'em in the van!" He declared, "It's time to end this whole thing once and for all."

With the plumbers' guards lowered, the Nintendo Ninjas stepped forward and apprehended the Mario Brothers, hauling them into the back of their transports as Lawyer Kong laughed victoriously.

The Ninjas stuffed the captive Marios into the van and climbed aboard with Lawyer Kong getting into his van. And without a moment to lose, the force drove off as the remaining Nintendo Ninjas began working to dispose of the memes that the two brothers had been dispensing.

Many miles off, SMG4 and Meggy were driving across what appeared to be an old bridge made of brick and stone, heading towards what seemed to be a large castle ahead. However, Meggy was beyond perplexed.

"SMG4, we spent so much effort trying to get INTO the firewall so we can save Mario..." Meggy said with annoyance in her voice, "So, why did you bring us all the way back out for?"

"Stop the bike!" SMG4 ordered, he was looking at a map on his computer, "We're here."

Meggy slammed the brakes and brought the bike to a stop, emulating a scene from an anime as she did so. Then the former Inkling looked up at the structure before her and SMG4, her eyes wide with surprise.

"Oh… my… goodness." Meggy breathed.

"This is it…" SMG4 said, "There has to be something in there that will help us legally go back into the Mushroom Kingdom."

"I'm gonna have to get my lawyer brain out, won't I?" Meggy asked as SMG4 climbed off the bike. She disembarked, following the meme man through the gates as they went inside the imposing structure known as Wikipedia Castle, the fabled fortress of all the gathered information in the world...
