Chris had Chef bring in two podiums with buzzers on them as if they were on a game show as Chris got out some cards for him to read and was setting some new tunes on the boombox. Chris motioned for them and Lincoln and Dawn took deep breaths before they took their places at one of the podiums and shared a smile at their direction.
"Now we are going to start off with a simple challenge to start off with but trust me the rest will not be as simple. Anyway this is a quiz of short: basically I am going to play some songs from TV shows and the first to buzz gets to guess the answer. Correct answer gets a point, after seven questions the winner is the the one with the most correct answers and if anyone from the crowd dares to try and give the answer then Chef Hatchet here will be throwing a pot of uneaten leftovers at their direction." Chris said directing to Chef grinning as he was next to a barrel of leftovers with a plot in his hands with the campers in the crowd grimacing and they then got the message.
"Should be a cinch for the white haired grandpa; does the hippie even have a TV in that treehouse she probably lives in." scoffed Heather with glares coming her way as she had no love lost from her fellow campers and burned bridges with her ex-alliance members. Lincoln glared at Heather for daring to make another dig at Dawn and Dawn also glared at her with her arms folded.
"For your information; I do live in an actual house with my family though I do have a treehouse. I do watch TV and streaming services which includes documentaries, nature shows and other fictional TV series that I like to watch either alone or with my parents!" Dawn informed her as she put her face towards Chris uncrossing her arms looking like she was ready and Lincoln gave a nod showing that he was ready as well.
"First up..." Chris said as most of the campers were confused as it played a cover of Billy Ray Cyrus' Achy Breaky Heart with crowd sounds from the audio as well. Dawn was in thought struggling to think and Lincoln thought that it sounded familiar.
"Oh... I know!" Lincoln said his eyes widening as he pushed the buzzer. "The Masked Singer and it it was the banana that sang it!" Lincoln answered and Chris gave a nod.
"Correct! Next one!" Chris said as the next song was Maybe Tomorrow by Terry Bush with Lincoln completely struggling but there were eyes of realisation from the campers.
"I remember watching this with my grandad... Anyone want to make something of that?" Eva said and then glared at the campers daring anyone to make a snide comment but they didn't want to pick a fight with her.
Dawn excitedly pushed the buzzer; "I remember watch the reruns and VHS tapes with my parents: the Littlest Hobo! Such a brave helpful dog and I do hope after that second series ended; tomorrow came where he decided to just settle down after all the good he had brought to so many people!" Dawn excitedly said as Chris nodded giving her the point but Lincoln was still dumbfounded.
"The Littlest what?" Lincoln asked and Chris got to answer him before Dawn did.
"A childhood favourite of mine; basically a show where this wandering dog came to towns and people who needed help and would help them out only to go back to travelling at the end despite his friends for the episode wanting to take him in. The revival series had an episode that said it was still the same dog in that show decades later." Chris had answered as Lincoln took it in.
"That sure sounds like something..." Lincoln replied and was ready for the next song. He instantly knew it from the first few notes and answered "Off course it's ARRGH! One of my fave shows ever!" Chris gave a nod not happy as he had barely started the song.
The next song was I Can Make You Happy by Davy Jones and Dawn happily punched the buzzer as well; "I love Scooby Doo and this is from the Davy Jones episode on New Scooby Doo Movies! My friend Sham Sham the panda loves Scooby Doo as well; we met when I was filming my documentary Prancing with Pandas!" Dawn answered as Lincoln and the crowd took this in.
"So were you filming a student film or something and you have met pandas?" Gwen asked from the crowd as Chris looked annoyed.
"I would love if you could introduce me to Sham Sham some time Dawn." Lincoln said with a smile as he was just going with the flow of how Dawn easily got along with animals. Dawn was about to make a tangent about how Sham Sham would love him; Chris coughed to get their attention.
"Correct answer Dawn but I could do without you giving a life story when answering!" Chris told her and Dawn nodded understanding. "2 each to each lovebirds and 3 songs left." Chris said as it was the Nowhere King playing with the campers and Lincoln scratching their heads.
Dawn mournfully pushed her buzzer and answered "Centaurworld; a tragic villain the Nowhere King is born from a poor creature's self loathing and facing prejudice leading to a depressing end." There were eyes widening and Chris answered that it was correct.
"Wait... Are you saying this song came from some cutsey looking cartoon that I have just been scrolling past on my Netflix page is kind of deep and has this eerie tune? When I get home I should give this show a shot with my gal Jasmine..." Leshawna said surprised.
Next was I Don't Want to Wait by Paula Cole played and Cody forgot the warning from before and couldn't help but saying "oh I know this one! I watched it to try and pick up girls by relating to them that I watch Dawson's Creek!" The ones near him in the crowd stands moved farther from him and Cody was subjected to having a pot filled of leftovers thrown at him causing most of them to be grossed out as he yelled.
"Wait... Is that moving..." Noah asked pointing to a piece of the leftovers on Cody looking like he was going to be sick.
Then everyone gave Owen a look as he started picking off bits of leftovers from Cody to eat; "what? I only had 3 plates of breakfast back at the resort..." Owen replied as Chris coughed to get their attention again.
"Thanks to Cody no one gets that point and the last question so Lincoln buddy... You need this to at least tie with Dawn for this round." Chris told Lincoln as Lincoln did his best to prepare himself for the final song with Dawn even giving him a look for good luck.
The song played and it was...
I Wannabe Famous with Lincoln and Dawn stumped but the campers were anxious to keep it in as they had a look at prior episodes during their time at the resort. They ended up shrugging giving up on it and Chris laughed.
"This is actually the theme of the show here: Total Drama Island... I suggested this..." Chris laughed and Lincoln and Dawn facepalmed and glared at Chris for this trick question. "But that means that first round victory goes to Dawn!" Chris said pointing to Dawn with the campers cheering her on; Edward going to Dawn to congratulate her having just been sitting while the round was going on.
"Good work out there Dawn! Perhaps if your parents still have those Littlest Hobo tapes then we could see about watching them at some point together." Lincoln said giving Dawn a smile as she returned it.
"I would love it and we still have the tapes; I just can't wait to see about you having visiting home and getting to meet my family!" Dawn said excitedly and Lincoln grinned not really finding meeting the girlfriend's family a scary thought here. "Plus don't worry; I am sure that you can easily catch up in the next round." Dawn told him assuringly as Lincoln laughed.
"Not what you are supposed to say to your final opponent in a competition but thanks Dawn." Lincoln replied as Chris motioned for them all to follow him for the venue of the next round as the campers got up from the stands.
"Uh Chris... I think bits of Chef's casserole is melting my pants..." Cody brought up looking at his clothes in concern.
Some references to the NA version of Skatoony which had Dawn (saw the compilation made by 2 YouTube channels of all her moments in the episode) and I enjoyed the original UK version of that cartoon and live action game show hybrid when I was younger and imagine my surprise that the US made their own one with Total Drama characters in roles!
I am not going to lie I was originally going to have Katie and Sadie be the dumb ones to show out an answer but I switched the punishment over to Cody as I never liked him. No offence to his fans but I couldn't get past like the time he wanted Gwen's bra in exchange for helping her out.
