After they had their time to relax (and for Dawn to kiss Lincoln's injuries all better); Lincoln and Dawn went with Chris to be shown the area of their 5th and final round challenge while Chef Hatchet had the rest of the campers follow him as apparently will all be watching somewhere else. They were hand in hand as Chris had shown them to a starting line with arrows directing a path that was cornered off with wooden fences on both sides.
"This is the final challenge of Total Drama Island; you start here and once I say 'go'; you both will be racing eachother down this path throughout the Island until you come across the finishing line where me, Chef and your fellow campers will be waiting. First to cross the line is the ultimate Total Drama Island champion!" Chris explained as Lincoln and Dawn looked at eachother.
"That doesn't sound too extreme; considering everything else we have gone through in this competition." Dawn said with a pleasantly surprised look and Lincoln shared it as well.
"Yeah; for being the last challenge in this competition with all the dangerous challenges, you would think that this last one wouldn't be so tame..." Lincoln said but shared a sigh with Dawn as they noticed a big smirk on Chris's face. "We spoke too soon; didn't we Chris?" Lincoln muttered as Chris nodded and passed them both rollerblading skates, elbow pads and helmets.
"You will be rollerblading down the path where you will be doing your best to go around the obstacles in your way. Especially what the native animals have left over as this area I have it on good authority that they use it to do their business a lot." Chris laughed as they both looked grossed out.
"I love nature and the animals but even I have my limits..." Dawn remarked in the Confessions with her hands to her cheeks while her arms were laying on her legs while in her usual lotus position.
"Not only that but we dug a ditch that you will have to use a ramp to jump over or try your luck to use a vine Tarzan style if you don't want to step through it. This ditch was filled by leftovers and not just normal leftovers but leftovers from the Brunch of Disgustingness... Along with all the uncooked meat from that challenge which has gotten even more bad in the time since if you could believe it and all of Dawn's food she secretly tossed through that open window? It was scooped up and saved for this ditch as well." Chris explained as both of the finalists had faces of green disgust at this.
"What made you this way Chris?" Lincoln sighed as he took his place at the starting line after getting over his disgust.
Dawn looked over Chris's aura as she took her place; "Not excusing anything but his aura right now is quite mixed and it seems his nature is a result of childhood trauma." Dawn informed Lincoln as Chris coughed annoyed to end this conversation as they put their rollerblading gear on.
"One more thing; near the end of the track path here; watch out for the fireworks set off to scare you a bit just in case you get too comfortable. Don't worry about forest fires as we took precautions about that and them being at a safe enough distance. Plus Dawn before you even bring it up; we made sure all wildlife were cornered off away from the fireworks so they should be fine. Trust me I don't want any trouble from the animal groups that would throw a fit." Chris informed them as Lincoln just facepalmed and Dawn shook her head as she was about to bring that up herself.
They then got ready and smiled at eachother, silently wishing eachother good luck as Chris said 'go' with them struggling to start running down the path with the rollerblades but then they ended up holding hands to stabilise eachother as they went around the 'animal droppings'. They then ended up spinning around holding both of their hands as if this was a couples skating routine.
They then reached the ditch and just a glimpse inside made them sink; "at this point if a Frankenstein type monster made from everything in this ditch just came to life then that wouldn't be a surprise..." Lincoln muttered looking to the ramp and took a deep breath as he took a distance before starting to run in his skates jumping over the ramp.
He then found himself off the ground much better than what he thought that he did only to realise that he had birds hanging onto his arms and head as if he was a Disney Princess as they pulled him into the air and onto the ground. He then watched as Dawn did the same with a look that expected this. "Thank you for your help and please keep a distance from where the fireworks will be." Dawn told the birds gratefully as she went back down the path with Lincoln side by side smiling.
"You helped me out again; once again we are more working together than actually competing with eachother in a race." Lincoln laughed.
"If I had just let you to fall into that ditch so I could win this competition then I would be a downright awful girlfriend. But if me competing against you is what you really want..." Dawn responded as she started pacing herself faster while in her skates with Lincoln telling himself to keep up.
At the stands by the finishing line there was the campers sitting down to watch the race unfold on a viewing screen set up and Edward had joined them to watch. "Watch your parents go at it; you should be proud aye!" Ezekiel told Edward looking down as he had taken the platypus into his lap and put his hat onto Edward with him struggling to get himself free.
"For him to watch then that would require him to be able to see!" Noah told Ezekiel as DJ helped Edward out of the hat and put him onto his lap.
"Oh come on; the platypus has been wearing hats throughout the show and now it's suddenly not alright to be wearing mine?" Ezekiel complained with his arms folded.
"They should be coming up to the fireworks soon; I don't care what precautions Chris has made I am still scared..." Trent brought up as most of the campers were a bit afraid of what it would be like racing through the sounds of fireworks up close.
"They should be fine; Lincoln was the first idiot willing to jump off that cliff in the first challenge and Dawn was able to make an escaped killer change his ways." Leshawna reminded them as this seemed to ease their fears as well.
Heather however was smirking to eachother wishing that she had popcorn for what was next...
Lincoln and Dawn were neck to neck as they then saw the fireworks set up next to the fences outside the path but they seemed to be set up in weird different directions. They ran past but then the fireworks set off with some going to their direction and Lincoln was able to dodge and pull Dawn out to safety.
Some more dodging with them out of breath; "seriously Chris... This feels like you are trying to have us killed!" Lincoln yelled angrily as some more dodging by him was required by Dawn doing her best but Lincoln was able to react quicker and pulled her out of the way.
They noticed some were now firing up at the sky and would probably be landing down somewhere on the island; some fire broke out around them with them being scared but then they saw some deer with buckets of water in their mouths to help take them out. "I am not even going to question this... I thought Chris said not to worry about forest fire..." Lincoln groaned as Dawn gasped out loud after talking to a deer.
"They gotten themselves ready to deal with the fire after spotting a certain someone sneak by and move the fireworks about; trying to have us harmed or worse! A certain Screaming Gopher who we have no love lost with..." Dawn informed Lincoln and he instantly knew who she was talking about.
Lincoln had no time to react to this news as they both spotted coming their way from behind were the remaining fireworks so they ran off together.
Upon watching this the campers all glared at Heather's direction; "I knew you were low but what could be considered attempted murder?" Gwen muttered looking outraged as Heather looked defensive.
"What? Do you really expect to believe hippie girl... Whatever, you don't have any proof that I did anything of the sort..." Heather retorted with her arms folded but Chris smirked as he switched the feed from the screen for a minute to show the footage of Heather sabotaging the fireworks before setting it back with Heather mumbling excuses like that couldn't be her or it was out of context.
"We are always watching remember; I planned on dealing with you and reading the riot act after the race..." Chris laughed but then they saw Lincoln and Dawn jump out and rolled out to the finishing line with the campers watching close as...
They both appeared to cross the line at the same time and the campers saw the fireworks coming to the stands and they then jumped out of the way as it caught on fire and exploded with Heather screaming as she was caught by pieces of debris and her hair on fire.
The campers were snickering at Heather with her arms folded was furious as her hair had caught on fire and was ruined when it was let out by Chef who was now cleaning up from the destroyed stands. While this was going on Chris had Lincoln and Dawn crossing the finihsing line playing on the screen with zoom in and slowed down as fast they were able to.
"Can't seem to find who crossed the line to win the race and I checked a few times. Therefore it's off to the most dramatic campfire ceremony yet as all of your former campers except for Heather will be voting on who will be winning it all." Chris explained as Heather glared at everyone with Lincoln and Dawn smiling at eachother and then to the other campers except for Heather.
"Are you really excluding me?" Heather demanded as Chef got a call and then looked somewhere with his binoculars and went up to Chris before he could respond to Chris.
"Uh Chris... They found where the remaining fireworks landed..." Chef told Chris hesitatingly as he gave him the binoculars to look and Chris jumped and gasped.
"MY COTTAGE! IT'S ALL RUINED AND DESTROYED! ALL THOSE PICTURES OF ME AND MY STATUES... ALL GONE!" Chris cried out.
"It was a mansion!" Courtney yelled agitated still not letting this matter go but then joined all the other campers in taking pleasure as Chris looked at Heather with fury on his face as Heather was open mouthed scared.
It was at that moment; Heather knew that she f***ed up.
"Not only are you banned from voting in the campfire ceremony but I am also withholding all royalties to any merchandise with your name or picture on it to pay for a new cottage along with community service work! Look forward to a lot of community service which should take up the free plenty of time that you will surely have because you are also banned from the next season and from the show indefinitely! I bet your family's lawyer will be busy for the foreseeable future!" Chris thundered at Heather trying to think of anything to get out of the trouble she was in right now.
"Heather is in trouble! Heather is in trouble!" Gwen was leading the other campers in chanting as Lincoln and Dawn laughed at the display.
"Couldn't happen to a meaner girl." Dawn said with Lincoln in full agreement as they got ready for the final result to be decided by their fellow campers.
I read on villains wiki a long while back I think or the normal Total Drama wiki; that it was said in an interview that Chris's sadism was born from a traumatic incident. But also I heard there's also an upcoming TDI reboot with a new cast and I think the same universe so it's more of a revival on the island. A massive pet peeve for me is misusing the term reboot; if it's still in the same universe or a revival/continuation then no I won't let you refer to it as such! If it's a case where like in the recent Halloween movies; they are ignoring all other movies in this new continuity but the first movie then I will accept it as such. The Samurai Jack revival is not a reboot nor would I call the recent Norse based God of War games reboots despite the way that they reconceptualises the stories that they tell, the gameplay or even the main character.
