Chapter Thirty:

Time to Run... from Legal Authority

In his office, Lawyer Kong was scrolling through his phone, looking at various news articles about Nintendo game reviews and fan community activities. Then, one article in particular caught his eye; A Mario 64 Roblox Mod by Frankie96.

"That's a pretty cool fan project..." Lawyer Kong quipped, then he smiled evilly, "It's time to cease and desist!"

He pulled out his other phone and made a call to a team of Nintendo Ninjas, notifying them of the fan project.

In seconds, the Ninjas were all over it, they were accessing cyberspace until they got to Frankie96's server, learned that Frankie96 was a Toad named Frankie, and slapped a copyright strike on the fan game mod before passing Lawyer Kong's cease and desist message to him.

As the news of the game's takedown soon arrived, the monkey lawyer smiled, unaware that a box was sneaking past him until he heard a rustle sound and turned. The box stopped and a muffled voice said, "Don't mind me, I'm just a box."

Lawyer Kong took action, recognizing the Italian accent of Mario anywhere. He grabbed the box and pulled it up, thinking he had the sneaky plumber, only to find a Bob-Omb with a walkie-talkie. The walkie-talkie activated as the bomb's fuse lit and a recorded voice filled the office.

'You stupid monkey!' Mario's voice said.

With every reflex imaginable, Lawyer Kong took cover just as the Bob-Omb exploded, damaging the office and scattering Nintendo Ninjas everywhere. Close by, the observing Mario took advantage of the distraction and darted down the corridor with a laugh, unaware that a security camera had locked onto him.

"INTRUDER ALERT!" A PA blared as alarms soon sounded, "RED ITALIAN IS ESCAPING!"

Mario reached the nearest Warp Pipe room and darted for the closest Warp Pipe just as a pair of Nintendo Ninjas burst in, the ninjas spotted Mario heading down the pipe and gave chase in a heartbeat.

Mario popped out the other side, finding himself in the yoga room where the Wii Fit Trainer was conducting an exercise program as usual. She noticed Mario, who came up with an idea in seconds, right as the Ninjas burst in.

Mario pointed to the two Nintendo Ninjas and the Trainer pounced on them, twisting one Ninja's leg as she said, "Let's stretch our legs."

More Ninjas arrived, chasing down Mario, who jumped down another Warp Pipe, which led him to a room where a couple Nintendo executives where in the midst of choosing the next player to be in Smash with one executive approaching a potted plant to give it a Smash Invite.

Mario dashed in, grabbed the invite and threw it at the Nintendo Ninjas just as they were entering the room. The invite glowed and a bright flash filled the room, then a TV lowered and everyone watched as the Ninjas were warped to one of the Smash arenas where a Pichu waited for them.

The group of Ninjas posed and then faced the Pichu, who brought out a Smash container and unleashed his Smash move: Majora's Moon. With the distraction accomplished, Mario burst through the glass window and tore down the hallway, making a mad dash through a door and right into Nintendo's console storehouse.

He was just passing by a Nintendo DS when it activated and, to Mario's surprise, showed the title screen for the Super Chungus DS game of all game projects.

A pair of Nintendo Ninjas popped up, guns pointed at Mario. One Ninja pressed a button and the DS immediately turned into a full-on chomping monster akin to the crazy piano from the Boo haunt Mario had visited many years ago and made a lunge for the plumber, chomping its 'jaws' like Pac-Man .

"MAMA MIA!" Mario made a run for it, avoiding Nintendo Ninjas along the way as he made a mad dash towards a storehouse door. Oh, there had to be a ride out, the ride that would take him to the courthouse.

With the DS and the Ninjas closing in, Mario ran as fast as his legs could carry him and he burst through the door. Then he slammed it shut behind him, taking a couple seconds to catch his breath.

Despite being a strong and heroic Italian, Mario was still only human and he needed his breathers. But just as he regained his composure, he looked up and froze with near surprise. Facing him from halfway across the room, flanked by Nintendo Ninjas, was Lawyer Kong, glaring at him through his sunglasses.

"Mario, how do you think this will end?" The lawyer asked.

"It'll end with Mario getting his friends back, you big monkey!" Mario spat.

Lawyer Kong pointed to the plumber and his men sprang into action, Mario grabbed a pile of Pokémon balls from a crate and threw them like bombs. The Poke-balls glowed and the Ninjas shrieked as they were absorbed inside, just like Pokémon would whenever they were caught.

Mario then ducked out of the way as another Ninja came at him, swinging the Master Sword, the Blade of Evil's Bane itself. POW! Mario kicked the Nintendo Ninja hard and knocked him down, knocking the Master Sword right out of his hand as it landed behind Lawyer Kong.

Mario reached into a Question Block crate and grabbed a banana, not many strategies to think of. Knowing that monkeys and Kongs loved them, Mario threw the banana at Lawyer Kong, watching as the Nintendo attorney's monkey instincts took over as soon as he saw it.

Lawyer Kong hooted and grabbed the banana, hooted again and started munching on it. With him distracted, Mario had one clear shot to the Launch Star that was in the room.

He jumped on top of a block and leaped into the Launch Star above the next block, even without a Luma, Mario spun with all of his energy and the Launch Star spun before launching the plumber through the roof of Nintendo Headquarters and through the sky over the Mushroom Kingdom.

Mario soared across the skies above Mushroom City, seeing Peach's Castle in the distance along with all of the locations he'd visited throughout his adventures. He focused on where he needed to go, unaware that someone was watching him from below in the streets.

'You can make it, Mario.' She thought.

The plumber spread out his arms, flying like Superman across the sky, then he saw it just ahead; the Mushroom City Courthouse, his destination. Just a little longer, a judge had to be there, and his friends would be saved, a sense of triumph was already welling within the plumber. He could do it!
