Clary's pov

It was dark so dark when I woke up I smelt ammonia, I'm in the hospital again great just great. God how I hate this place, I heard someone's voice before I woke up. Then I saw him. Jace was here, Jace knows. I dont really remember what happened after that I must have blacked out but, when I woke up again the pain in my throat was gone. I turned my head to see if there was anyone here, there was Jace. He looked so peaceful his hair was all over his face he was asleep, "J. Jace." I managed to croak out. He started to stir and once he was fully awake he got up from his seat and left, he came back in after a few moments with the nurse. She just asked me a bunch of questions like 'how are you feeling?' or 'I'm going to change your drip now tell me if anything hurts?' As soon as she finished she left and Jace sat down not saying a word.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you Jace." I blurted out whilst starting to cry. He got up and came over to me, and he just hugged me. He sat there, hugging me until I stopped crying.

"Clary I love you. You know that right?" Jace asked I looked up at him and I saw he was almost crying. I nodded and he continued moving a strand of my hair away from my eyes "Why didn't you tell me? Is it because you thought that I would leave you?"

"No, I love you and I just didn't want you to go through pain seeing me suffer. Don't you dare give me bullshit that it won't because you and I both know that you would be going through hell." I said. He laughed at me and smiled,

"I missed you Clary." He looked at me.

"I missed you too Jace so much." I kissed him. He kissed back. He pulled back hesitantly and looked me in the eyes,

"Clare are you ok?" His voice was so sweet and caring. I nodded and hugged him.

Nobody's pov

Jocelyn sat in the waiting room for what had felt like years. Luke had forced Alec Magnus and Izzy to go home and they would call if anything would happen. It was now 11:36pm Clary had woken up thats all anyone but Jace he obviously knew more and their conversation continued.

"Jace promise me no matter what happens, if this disease takes me you will find someone else to love." She spoke her voice wavering.

"Clary your going through this, I can't promise that." He looked at her, his eyes were glistening with tears.

"Please I will fight for as long as I can, for you but if anything happens to me. Please find someone new and love them. Don't even try giving me that bullcrap about 'to love is to destroy.' To love is to be stronger Jace. Just promise me you will try to move on, not move on, try to." After she finished she sobbed. He wrapped one of his arms around her and held her whilst she cried. She slowly started to drift of to sleep in Jace's arms. When she did Jace gently pushed her back on her bed, pulled the blanket on her and went outside the room to see where Luke and Jocelyn were.

"Jace how she?" Jocelyn asked.

"She's asleep right now, how long has she had cancer?" He asked.

"She found out before you left." Jace was shocked, the day he told her he had to leave she had something to say but never told him.

-flashback-

"Hi Church, can you bring me to Jace." Clary asked kneeling down to rub Church's ear. She looked like she had been crying for hours. Church meowed before stalking off down the corridors of the Institute. When he finally stopped Clary rubbed his back, She entered the room to find Jace packing,

"Clary I need to tell you something." He said whilst placing a plain white t-shirt in his suitcase not noticing the tear tracks on her face,

"So have I, but you go first." She said with a small smile.

"The Clave is making me go on a mission I'll be gone for three weeks I'm sorry. But what was your news?" He said now only noticing the tear marks on her face.

"Oh it doesn't matter now. What's the mission about?" She said forcing a smile.

"Are you sure you dont want to tell me?" He looked at her, his eyes were filled with worry and concern. She simply nodded before saying.

"I'm sure Jace. I've got to go I'll see you when you come back ok?" She finished kissing him on the lips. She walked out of the room leaving Jace to pack and letting the rest of her tears flow freely as she got further away from him.

Jace's pov

"She was going to tell me before I left." I spoke out loud.

"What are you talking about Jace?" Jocelyn asked with questioning eyes.

"She came by the Institute before I left. She was going to tell me." I sighed replaying everything that happened at that moment. I ran my hand through my hair, my phone went off it was Alec who was calling me I picked it up and answered.

"Hi Alec."

"Hi Jace any updates?" He asked. He sounded breathless when he spoke. I forgot he gets up early to train

"Well she's currently sleeping but do you remember that day. The day I left when Clary came over?"

"Yeah why?"

"She was going to tell me then Alec."

"What me and Izzy will be there at 6:00am ok?"

"Yeah see you then. Bye Alec."

"Bye Jace." With that said he ended the call. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes before yawning.

"Why dont you get some sleep Jace I'll wake you up when Alec and Izzy get here." Jocelyn spoke.

"Thank you Jocelyn." I said before closing my eyes

"No problem Jace, it's the least I could do." Before I could ask what that meant I fell asleep into a dreamless sleep.
