Disclamir: Don't own Naruto.

Requested by: Crazy Neko Girl

Recap: Both of them for a moment stood silent glaring at each other. Both of them thinking that they were right. Finally it was Sakura's turn to speak up. "Well then let's make things simple shall we? Just stop worrying about me. I could handle myself. I don't need to keep tabs with you." Almost as soon as she uttered those words she regreated it. But her stubborn pride refused to faulter.

The dark look suddenly disappeared from his face and in place of it a stunned and deeply hurt look crossed his face. It was a look that broke Sakura's heart, but not nearly as much as his next words. "Look, for whatever reason I don't think this is going to work out. I mean I don't even know you anymore. Ever since you got obsessed over those flowers, you've changed and I don't like it one bit."

At hearing those words, Sakura felt as if someone punched her in the stomach. She felt a sting of tears in the cornor of her eyes and a pout formed across her lips. Instantly Naruto realised his mistake but it was too late. Taking off the ring he gave her, she threw the ring at his chest and ran past him to her room locking herself inside. Stunned at the turn of events, Naruto left the apartment. Once out side he punched the wall and screamed in anguish as the tears fell down his cheeks in a stream. Why did it have to be like this? Wasn't there a better way to handle that? Shouldn't he have let things cool down rather then let anger take control? He was honetly worried about her but went about it the wrong way. Slowly he slid down to the floor with his back to the wall. There seem to be no end to his tears as he sat alone.

Collide ch 13

A few hours passed before Sakura stepped out of her room. She was half expecting to see Naruto sitting on the couch, waiting for her to come out. She was hoping that he'd have her ring still in hand, that they would talk things out in a more calm fashion. But he was not there. Her heart felt heavy at the sight. This was not how it should have ended. If things were going to ever end between them, she'd have hopped that it would be on better terms. She sighed deeply and turned back to her room to gather a change of cloths to take a long hot shower.

After about 30 minutes, she stepped out of the shower and changed into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. She was drying her hair when she heard a knock at the door. Slowly she walked towards the door and opened it. What she saw on the other side of the door took her breath away. There was Naruto standing with a dozen or so pink roses. He looked as if he were crying just as much as she was. He took in a deep breath before speaking.

"May I come in?" He asked softly as he continued to look into her eyes. Still silent, unsure of what to say, she took a step to the side to let him in. Once inside she slowly closed the door behind him. Naruto looked nervious suddenly, whatever resolve he had suddenly escapting him like the air out of a balloon.

After a moment of silence, both of them spoke up at the same time. "I'm very sorry about earlyer, please forgive me!"

"I was just so worried and scared." He said softly as he took a step towards her.

"I know." Sakura whispered as she looked up at him. "I was being stubborn and inconsiderate. I shouldn't have done that, throwing the ring at you."

Just then Naruto reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring she was refering to. Her eyes widen slightly when he held it out to her, a soft smile forming on his face. "Then you shouldn't be so quick to take it off." He placed the flowers down and he closed the gap between them, holding her tightly. "I love you so much Sakura-chan. The very thought of losing you cause of an agruement? It would take a lot more then that for us to end."

"Naruto-kun." She whispered softly as she felt the tears rolling down her cheek. 'Like me sleeping with Dei-kun, not once, but twice?' At that thought, she cried even harder.

Naruto, not sure what was going on through her mind held her in a protective way as he rubbed her back. He rested his head a top of her's as he whispered softly. "Let's not hide anything from each other from this point forward. Whatever is on your mind, I'd hope that you would feel comfortable enough to talk to me about it and likewise I'd do the same." He pulled her away slightly to look into her eyes. The warmth in his eyes assured her he was telling the truth.

Dispite that, she didn't know if she should at least tell him half the truth. She knew she could never tell him that she betrayed him. She knew for sure that would be the end of them and that was the last thing she wanted. However, what about Deidara? It's true that they had a past and that they were very much in love. But it's also true that they have hurt each other deeply. The only good thing of their past was their childhood. The past 10 years was just wishful thinking. He's a missing Nin now. What kind of future could she possibly have with him? Right here in her arms was a future with in her grasp.

A frown came across her face. She really felt low. She as good as used Deidara to live out the dreams she had of them being together. She didn't really think about his feelings or how such an action would affect the two of them. As she continued to metally beat herself up, she noticed Naruto lifting up her hand and slipping the ring back into her finger. He placed a hand under her chin and drew her face close to his. Just then their lips touched and he gave her the most tender kiss. Slowly his hands slide down her back and the kiss between the two deepened. Sakura was fighting the urge to pull away out of guilt to compleately give in to Naruto. However, he didn't give her that chance before he quickly picked her up bridel style and took her into her room, closing the door behind him.

A few hours later, Sakura looked to her side and watched as Naruto slept soundly beside her. The sun was beginning to set and casted a soft glow against him. She smiled softly as she pushed away a few strands of his hair away from his eyes. His face scruched up a bit at the mere touch but he remained sleeping. She snuggled close to him as she closed her eyes. This felt so right. This felt like where she belong. No sooner did she think that, did flash backs of Deidara come to the fore front of her mind. A blush crossed her cheeks as she opened her eyes. She let out a long breath she didn't know she was holding as she looked up at the ceiling.

"What could you possibly offer me?" She found herself whispering softly.

"Is my hand in marriage not enough?" Came a husky voice in her ear.

She was startled at the sound and turned around to see Naruto giving her a surprised look dispite still looking sleepy. "How long were you awake for?" She asked as she placed a hand to her chest, as if that mere touch would slow down her beating heart.

"For some time now." He paused as he looked at her for a careful moment. "Something's on your mind. Why don't you tell me about it?" Slowly he reached out his hand and ran his fingers through her hair.

"It's nothing. I'm fine." She lied as she turned her back towards him and snuggled closer to him. In response he wrapped his arms around her. The two remained silent for awhile before Sakura spoke up.

"Ok, just a hypothetical question." She then turned around while still in his arms to look at him.

"Sure, shoot." He noded as he looked at her.

"Well," She begain, getting right to the point. "Say that hypothetically I've been secreatly meeting up with Deidara. What would you say?"

His eyes widen in surprise and no sooner narrowed in anger. Although she made sure she didn't give any hints to what she was thinking, at that moment she almost regreated even asking the question. "It's just an out there question." She added softly as she gave him her best pout which soften up the look on his face by a fraction.

"That's some out there question." He began in a calm voice dispite still having a peeved look on his face. "I mean I'd have to question how on earth did that happen and why haven't you reported seeing him. He's a missing nin who nearly killed you and quite frankly I wouldn't be surprised if he was responsible for you parents death. I couldn't possibly imagine why you'd secreatly meet up with him." He shook his head as he slowly sat up and looked down at Sakura. His eyes narrowed slightly as a thoughtful look crossed his mind. "How long?" He suddenly asked after a moment.

Sakura blanked her eyes a few times giving him a confused look. She likewise sat up facing Naruto. She was silent for a long time, not quite sure how to continue the converstation. She only prepared her self for a short answer to her question without priving any further. She closed her eyes as she looked down. She started the conversation and eventually it would have gotten to this point. She didn't know how much longer she could keep silent.

"Recently." She said just above a whisper as she continued to look down.

"Recently?" He echoed as he looked at her with widen eyes. A moment later, Naruto quickly got out of the bed. "Just how recently?" He demanded.

Suddenly Sakura felt the pit of her stomach tying up. She wasn't liking the direction this was going at all. Why couldn't she have just kept her mouth shut?! The longer she took to reply, the more angry Naruto became.

"Please don't let me repeat the question." He said in an cool voice.

She looked up at him to see him looking down at her through narrowed eyes. A deep frown crossed her face as she answered. "L...Last night." She said just above a whisper.

His eyes widden in realization. He took a step back as it all became clear. "So, he's the one who's been leaving those flowers for you? How could I have been foolish? It was so obvious. And last night, you not returning home, that was a lie you told me wasn't it? You were with him all night weren't you?!" He shouted the last sentence as he gave her such a dark look. She wished the ground would swallow her up at that very moment. If looks could kill, she sure as heck would be dead many times over.

"The argument we had earlyer today all of that was cause of him?" He ran his fingers through his hair as he released an agatated sigh. Without waiting for an answer from her, he grabbed his cloths and rushed out of the room. Stunned, Sakura remained in bed for a second before jumping out of it to rush after him. He was just about to open the front door when she walked up behind him and hugged him tightly.

"Please, not again. Don't leave like this again. Let's talk about-" She cried out as she held him tightly. But she received a rude awaking when he suddenly peeled her from off him and pushed her away. He turned around and gave her a disgusted look. One which made her feel lower then dirt.

"Talk about what? The fact that you're not denying anything only confirms the truth." He said in a cold tone. "What else have you been lying about? Did you sleep with him?"

Her eyes widden in horror and all too late she realized she silently gave him the answer he dread to know. The color in his face drained and he stumbled back against the door. Tears piled up in the conor of his eyes as he looked at the woman whom he was deeply in love with and felt like his whole world had shattered. He swore it was a nightmare. He couldn't possibly be awake. It was just far too cruel! Wasn't it just a few hours ago that they made up? Weren't they going to start fresh? So how on earth could this happen?!

His mind was spinning and he just couldn't bare to hear what she had to say. So without another word, He turned around and quickly bolted out the door without looking back. Sakura stood there stunned and shaken for a second before she dropped down to her knees and sobbed loudly into her open palms. Why on earth was this happening?! Without a doubt she knew she loved Naruto. He was the one who she wanted to spend her whole life with. He's the one who's been by her side though her darkest moments. After some time passed, she couldn't stand to be in that apartment anymore. Quickly she slipped on her shoes and grabbed her keys and phone. Without thinking of where she'd end up, she just walked.

The night was calm and surprisingly warm for that time of year. Anytime her thoughts turned to Naruto, she'd burst into tears again. All she could think about was dissappearing. After what seemed like a long time, she looked up and slightly dreaded where she ended up. What was once her santuary was now filled with conflicting memories. She checked the time on her phone and realized that it was close to the time that he would show up. He was the very last person she wanted to see at that moment. Quickly turning around to head back home, she heard someone call out to her. Her eyes widden as she spun around and saw Sasuke walking up towards her.

"What are you doing here?" She gasped as she continued to stand still.

"I should be asking you the same thing. Don't you think it's a bit to late in the evening to be coming out here?" He asked as he stopped a few feet in front of her. He gave her a plain look, very common to him.

"I was just going for a walk. I needed to clear my head and get out the apartment. Somehow I just ened up here." Her eyebrows rose as a questioning look crossed her face. "Why are you here?" She returned the question.

For a moment he stood silent as he looked up at the sky. "It's a beautiful night. It reminds me of that night years ago when you, Hinata, Naruto and I camped out here." He looked back at her and smiled. "You probelly didn't realize, but that night he was so nervious. He wouldn't stop talking to me about how excited he was. Before then, the two of you barely hung out. Sure you spoke a few times, but that was the first time you acknowled him as a friend."

Both were silent for a moment and Sasuke didn't realize that at the moment Sakrua was silently crying. He took a deep breath as he continued. "He came to my place earlyer without realizing I was on a date with Hinata. Don't get me wrong I don't mind, especially since he looked a mess. But I was barely able to get a word out of him as to what happened. All he said was you were meeting up with Deidra, most likely here."

He gave her a studying look for a moment before talking again. "Do you care to tell me what is going on?"

By this time Sakura burst into tears. Without a word, Sasuke closed the distance with her and gave her a comforting hug. He wasn't sure what had happen with his friends. Earlyer that day Naruto came to his house because of the first argument they had. Sasuke heard his friend out and convinced him to try and work things out with Sakura. This time around, his best friend looked as if someone had died. True if Sakura was meeting up with Deidara, even he wouldn't be happy about it, but he figured that she must have had her reasons regardless of what they might be.

He pulled away and placed his hand on her shoulders, pushing her back slightly so that he could look into her eyes. He could see she was just as devistated as Naruto. He sighed deeply as he shook his head. "I get the feeling this is much more complicated. Deidara was your first love after all. Then he almost killed you. I'm sure you have some lingering feelings. But don't you realize how dangerious the situation is? He could try to kill you agian."

"No he wouldn't! " She suddenly cried out as she jumped away from Sasuke. His eyes narrowed slightly at her actions, but he kept silent to give her a chance to speak.

She looked down as she took in a deep breath. "Dai-kun wouldn't kill me. He even said that on that night he tried to clean up some of my wounds."

Sasuke's eyes widden when he remembered the image of her that night. He did remember seeing some attempt of cleaning her wounds. So it was Daidara who had done that? Why?

"He's a memember of Aktsuki and a missing Nin Sakura. The Dai-kun that you remember is long gone. You shouldn't put your trust in his words, no matter what he says." He reached out his hand and placed it under her chin. He lifted her head and looked into her eyes with a firm yet concerned look. "Be honest with me. Do you still have feelings for Deidara?"

Sakura's eyes widden at the sudden question. She thought about it for a moment as a frown crossed her face. Without looking at him, she whispered softly. "Yes. I do."

A frown came across his face. He had a feeling she would say that. But what nagged him was why she would have feelings for a man who nearly killed her three years ago and for the most part was likely responceable for her parents death. No matter how much time he thought it over, it just didn't make sence.

"I don't understand. You've got a good thing with Naruto. Both of you are in love and are making plans to get married. Why throw that away for a criminal like that man?" He asked softly as he took a step back.

looking up at him, she gave him an unsure look. "I don't quite understand myself. At first when I saw him again I wanted to kill him. But we started to talk and I heard his side of the story and somehow i believed that he was telling me the truth. Then last night.." She gasped as she realized what she was about to tell him and suddenly stopped talking.

He looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "Last night?" He pressed.

She bit her lower lip as she looked down. "We kissed." She said just above a whisper. She decided to leave it at just that.

Sasuke's mouth dropped but he quickly gained his composure. "What on earth possested you to do that?" He shook his head. "Is there a problem with Naruto? Do you still love him?" He asked.

Sakura was silent for a moment before she nodded her head. "So much that it hurts." She whispered.

He pressed his lips together as he looked at his friend closely. Slowly he asked his next question. "And do you love Deidara?"

Once again she silently nodded her head leaving Sasuke stunned. Truely his friend was in quite a pickle. "You do realize you need to end all contact with Deidara? I'm sure you realize that the dream you have of reuniting with your first love is just that...a dream. Nothing good can come from being with that man Sakura. You're not going to find your happy ending."

Tears flowed down Sakura's cheeks as she looked up at her friend. Even if she wouldn't admit it, she knew he was right. Both her and Naruto belonged together. Right now there may be nothing to go back to and even if there was, there relationship was so shattared that it would take a long time for trust to be built up again. However, even if it would take forever, she wanted nothing more then to be with Naruto.

Sencing that she got the point, Sasuke spoke up. "Look, if you're going to see him tonight, I won't stop you. But I will warn you to be careful. Cut all your ties with him tonight and don't return back. I'll try to talk to Naruto and get all of this straighten out. But there's no promise ok?"

Sakura's eyes widen at hearing that and a soft smile barely crossed her lips. She wrapped her arms tightly around him and cried into his chest. He returned the hug a took a step back. "Get back home soon ok? I'll check on you tomorrow to see how you are doing."

She nodded her head. "Thank you so much Sasuke. I don't know how to repay you."

He strugged his shoulders as he turned around and started to walk away. "You can repay me by making those rosted tomatos. It's really good! "

"Tomorrow I'll make you some when you come over. Bring Hinata with you. I'll make you dinner to pay back for your date."

He nodded his head as he raised his hand to wave goodbye. Within a few moments, he disappered into the shadows. Sighing deeply, she walked over to the swing and slowly sat on it. It was easyer said then done. She had just started to talk to him again. How could she just end it all with him?

Getting lost in her thoughts, she didn't realize how much time had passed before she felt a hand on her shoulder. Jumping up, she spun around only to be greeted with Deidara giving her a playful smile.

"You weren't thinking of anything naughty now were you?" He asked as he gave her a smirk.

Her eyes widen and a deep blush crossed her face. Flash backs of them together crossed her mind and she quickly shook her head. Deidara laughed as he walked around the swing and stood in front of her. Suddenly he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her in towards him.

"You know, I thought about you all day." He whispered as he placed a hand under her chin and lifted her head up. For a moment, he looked deeply into her eyes. He had forgotten how beautiful they were and a soft gasp escaped his lips as he looked away. Suddenly he felt like the boy he used to be, staring into the eyes of the girl who took his breath away. Years have passed and circumstance had changed. He broke out of his gaze when noticed that she was giving him a concerned look.

"No it's nothing." He said very softly as he caressed her cheek with his thumb. A frown came across his lips. She was about to question what was wrong when he spoke up. Swallowing hard, he barly spoke just above a whisper. "I didn't realize, just how much I'm in love with you. I didn't realize how my actions make it difficult for us to pick up where we left off." He paused as a determained look crossed his eyes. "But I would give just about anything to live a normal life with you. To walk down the street holding your hands, to enjoy a date or even to spend a rainy morning in a warm bed with you."

"Dai-Kun-" Sakura started but was interrupted.

"I know you have someone else, but I thought I'd at least be honest." He paused for a moment. "I didn't hear it all, but I heard the conversation you had earlyer. I'm sorry I listened in."

Sakura's eyes widen and her jaw dropped. Just how much he heard and where he came in, she didn't know. What she did know was that he knew they talked about her ending things with him. A deep frown crossed her lips as she struggled to find the right words to say.

"I'd lie if I said I never ment to get in the way of you and Naruto." He said in a low voice as he looked away, a hint of bitterness in his voice. "But in starting fresh with you, I wouldn't want to do anything that would hurt you, so.." He paused as he took in a deep breath.

Tears rolled down Sakura's cheeks. She didn't know what to do. Why did things have to be so complicated? Why did life have to throw such bad luck in her direction. The man in front of her was the one who she dreamed about spending her life with. But that dream was a long lost dream and for the most part forgotten. Now she had another man in her life who proved to be trust worthy. She hated the fact that Sasuke was right. But even so..

"No." She suddenly said. He looked down at her with widden eyes, but kept silent to let her speak. She shook her head and had her fist clinched at her sides. She looked up at him with uncertinty eitched on her face. "I don't think I could accept that."

"Accept what?" He asked, unsure of what she ment.

"letting you disappear from my life again. The first time it happened was cause of my parents. The second time was cause you misunderstood the situation and now?" She bit her lower lip as she shook her head.

"But you're with Naruto Sakura-chan." He placed a hand on her cheek. She closed her eyes as she felt the sting of tears threating to fall. "Plus Sasuke is right. It couldn't work out with us. I would only be hurting you more. So that's why-"

"No!" She cried out. A frown came across his face and without another word Deidara pulled her in for a tight hug. Sakura didn't reist. She held him tightly in her arms.

Her voice soften as she spoke again. "I know that it can't work out. I know that I should be with Naruto, but I've loved you longer. You're so precious to me."

"I know." He whispered as he rested his head atop hers. "I'm completely in love with you. But that was the you from 10 years ago and you are in love with the me from 10 years ago. We've grown up and changed in so many ways. If you knew of all the things I've been doing since that time, could you honestly say you would still love me?"

He sighed deeply as he pulled away from her and looked into her eyes. He gave her a serious look. "I'm a criminal. I've killed people. If I'm found here I'd be taken away and soon killed. At least with Naruto, he's here. He's been there for moments I couldn't be there for." He paused as he felt his chest tightening. He was seconds away from bursting into tears but he refused to give in. Not in front of her. Not at this moment.

"It would be impossible for us to continue to meet with these feelings. last night felt like a dream and I'll never forget it but we both know it was wrong. Do you understand I'm doing this for your own good?" He asked as he gave her a concerned look.

For a moment she continued to look at him, a deep pout crossing her face. He remembered that look and he knew that what she would have to say wouldn't be something he'd like to hear. It was her refusal to hear what he had to say look. He should have known trying to reason with her would be hard. If she had her mind set on something it was hard to change her mind.

"But I don't want you to leave me again Dai-kun." Her lips quivered and the tears started to roll down her cheeks. He closed his eyes but knew that doing so wouldn't stop her from crying. Once again he pulled her into his arms and this time tears of his own fell down his cheeks. For a long time the two of them stood there crying, not wanting to let the other go.

"I'll change." He whispered softly in her ears. "I don't care how long it takes but I'll come back to you. I'll be a better man then I am right now. Only then would I be able to have the right to fight for your love. Right now, I don't have that right. So you need to let me go so that I can make those changes."

There was a long pause before she spoke. For the first time that night he saw a soft smile crossed her face dispite the tears still rolling down her cheeks. "If we can't meet again, can you at least leave me a note once in a while, just to let me know you're doing ok?"

A soft chuckle escaped his lips as he leaned down to kiss her forhead. "I think that can be arranged." He whispered as he looked into her eyes with a smirk. "But don't expect it to be regular. I'm serious about wanting to become a better person."

For a moment longer the two stayed in each others arms. Both of them looked up at the vast endless sky, both wishing the moment wouldn't end and yet knowing that it would have to end. They both struggled to accept that it was for the best and both were unsure if it really was for the best. After what seemed like forever, Sakura was the first to pull away and as she did, she wiped away her tears with the back of her hand. The smile was still on her face as she looked up at him.

"It doesn't matter how much time has passed. Dai-kun is still Dai-kun to me. I love you." The last words were whispered so softly that they were almost carried away with the wind. She looked deeply into his eyes knowing that it was likely the last time she'd be able to. Before Deidara could say anything she turned around and quickly ran off. He stood there watching until her form disappeared into the distance. Just then he felt a familar presence behind him, hidden amonst the trees. His eyes narrowed and a deep sigh escaped his throat.

"What do you want?" He hissed without looking at the new commer.

Stepping out from behind the trees, Itachi stood a few feet behind him.

"She's in danger." He said slowly.

Deidara's eyes widden and in a heart beat he spun around and grabbed Itachi by the throat, shoving him hard against the tree behind him. Dark, deadly eyes locked with cool ones. Itachi didn't seem to flinch in the bit as he spoke.

"You're foolish." He said with little struggle.

"If you lay even one finger on her.." Deidara threated as he tighten his grip.

"It's not me." He said as he glared at the man. He was starting to get annoyed by how dence he was. "You realize there are other members in this group. You think you can go around as you please, doing what you wish and no one would know the wiser?" His eyes narrowed as he looked at Deidara and in turn Deidara's eyes widden at the comment. Itachi took that moment to break free of his grip.

"You're also in danger." He said after a moment as he caught his breath. Deidara continued to look at him unsure and yet not letting his guard down.

"What are you talking about? He asked carefully.

"Her parents, the explosion. That's only the begining. There's more to come." He said in a serious tone. "Someone within the group is not who they appear to be."

Deidara was starting to feel his paticence slip. "Here we go again with the riddles! Just spill it out already! what are you trying to tell me?!" He shouted.

"How dence can you be?!" Itachi shouted back. "If anything further happens, it's own fault for not paying attention! Those who you love will continue to be put in danger!" As if on cue a loud explosion errupted from somewhere in the middle of the town not too far from where they stood. Both men turned their attention in the direction the blast came from. A large fire danced wildly against the midnight sky. Deidara's eyes widden in horror when he realized that not too long ago Sakura had run off in that direction. Suddenly he had a sicking feeling.

He was about to run in that direction to inspect when he was stopped by Itachi. He pushed him away and went off running. In moments he reached the location which was an apartment complex. Itachi followed close behind and tried to hold him back. There was a crowd from the building all huddled together talking all at once. The fire fighers were trying to fight the fire while others stood by with a strecher. Several were being treated on the spot for minor injury's while still others were taken away to the hospital for more serious injuryies. All the while Deidara's eyes darted here and there in a panic looking for the one person he hopped wasn't there.

Time seemed to drag on forever and with each passing second not seeing her, his hope grew and grew. Just then, it all came crashing down. Coming from the building was one of the firefighters carrying a limp body. Dispite the dark, he saw unmistakeable proof as her pink hair swayed back and forth in the wind. Still his mind forced him to believe that it wasn't her. Just then out of the crowd he saw a blond haired man run to the streacher the body was rested on. A few officals tried to hold him back as he fought to get closer. Deidara's eyes widden in horror. Just then the young man broke free and ran towards her.

"Sakura-chan!" Came the blood curtling scream.
