"...In conclusion, the battle of choir only began as a means of subterfuge by mercenaries, who were interested in the weapons grade dust buried under the Renegade and Imperial factions bases respectively, class dismissed.
Mr Discovery please stay back I need to see you about something."
Say for Zen, the room was abuzz with students talking amongst themselves as they proceeded to leave the room.
Blake however was miles away while stowing notes into her bag, though promptly returned to reality after feeling a jab in her side, forcing an irked expression to form after realising that Yang was the one who elbowed her.
The matching stern look on the blonde's face was more than enough to immediately wipe Blake's back to a neutral appearance.
"It's been nearly a week since you said you were going to talk to him... and you haven't.
What's the hold up?"
Blake pinched the bridge of her nose and heavily sighed, regretting that she ever got involved, but at the same time, she knew if this meet up with Zen was delayed any longer, Yang's obviously worn paper thin patience would mean she'd begin to 'talk' to him herself.
"It's only been four days since I made that promise Yang. I've been working on it."
"..."
"Fine, I'll do it now once he's finished here."
While this had been going on, Ruby and Weiss were already halfway out of the row of seats when they turned back to see why the rest of their teammates weren't following behind them, glancing at each other before looking back.
Blake quickly realised the ice flower duo staring at them.
"You guys go to the library, I'll meet up once I'm finished. I need to ask Doctor Oobleck about some content that might be in the next exam."
The pair nodded in response and stared at Yang, she gave one more affirmative gaze which screamed 'don't disappoint me' before standing up and following behind her two shorter teammates.
She waited for them to leave sight of the room before stepping outside herself, not wanting Oobleck to get the same impression.
The pit of her stomach began to tense up as she devised how she was going to speak to him.
Why am I making myself so nervous?
It's just a simple chat.
Though do I try to be honest or should I be subtle?
How long is it going to take in there?
It was another five minutes before Zen finally exited the classroom, almost slamming into Blake, his head down deep in thought.
"Hello, eh Zen, I wanted to have a word to you about-"
"Oh hey Blake, I'm sorry to cut you off there but I need to go see Penny and Ozpin, it's important."
Before she could interject or even breathe a sigh of frustration as he began to walk away, she looked up in time to see him whip around to face her.
"Actually. I wanted to speak with you about something as well.
If you want, we can talk after classes, meet me at the cafe called The Spot. Is thatfine with you?"
"I have nothing planned this afternoon, we can do that."
"Great, I'll see you then."
With that he spun around and gunned it through the halls, presumably towards Beacon's main tower.
"Huh, wasn't what I was expecting, but okay then...and why does he want to speak to me, what exactly does he want to talk to me about?"
Blake mumbled to herself as she headed for the library.
Even stepping through the entrance, she could sense lilac eyes from several meters away locking onto her, and with her comparatively enhanced vision being proven correct after scouring the study area.
Approaching the table, the perturbed expression plastered on Yang's face plus the tell tale absence of Ruby and Weiss heightened the dread felt within Blake's psyche.
I'm starting to think that Yang secretly has the ability to read minds.
She was of course right about that as before getting the chance to sit, her partner spoke out of the side of her mouth, their eyes meeting, Blake doing her best to stay standing, despite her legs losing their ability to keep her rigid.
"Somehow I get the feeling you didn't say anything to him."
"He had urgent things to attend to-"
"Excuses don't get you anywhere Blake. Trust me, I've been with Ruby most of my life, I know when someone is procrastinating or using delaying tactics and you're doing both." As she was cut off, Blake's legs gave way and so she landed in the chair she hovered over, her head buzzing with what Yang had just said.
"First off, Yang. Using delaying tactics is synonymous with procrastinating.
Second, I know it might seem as though things aren't going the way you want them, but I assure you everything is working out-"
"You're not convincing me in the slightest, you offered to help and yet you've come back empty, what even was the point in thinking you'd be there for me-"
"YANG!"
Blake shouted, shooting back up and looking her dead in the eye. The adrenaline kicked in, yet she remained standing and didn't recoil even with everybody nearby staring at her.
Yang taken aback, looked up at her with her mouth slightly agape and waited for what her teammate might do or say next.
After a few breaths, the rush of anger began to fade and Blake closed her eyes and sighed before looking at Yang.
"I have really tried to get some form of answers. I asked Ruby in a way that made me sound as though I wanted to be friends with him, and essentially she told me I need to find out for myself based on my own perspective. I asked Penny, and she nearly said the same thing, though she tried to compare our team and him.
Yes I could have been a little less indirect, but that's the thing, I wanted to be thorough before I approached him, yet when the time came I felt nervous and I was relieved he couldn't stop so I could talk to him.
In saying all of that, after Zen told me he had to go, we agreed to meet up after the final lesson of the day, at a cafe called The Spot."
"Been there once, was nice a place...but remember why you're going for okay?"
It felt like an eon as the pair were left in silence, Blake wondered that with her outburst, Ruby and Weiss hadn't come running.
So they might not even be in the library.
Yang closed her eyes and exhaled sharply, to Blake's surprise, the miffed expression evolved into a calm one.
Without even realising it, Blake sat down and was now back on the same level as her partner once she opened her eyes and stared back at her.
"You are working hard on this, that much I can tell, and for what it's all worth, if somehow I'm wrong and I'm making a fuss over nothing, I know I have a loyal friend that's willing to put up with me for this long."
Yang patted her on the back before opening the note book sat in front of her and began jotting down the work from Oobleck's lesson.
Even if Blake knew her partner was true to her word and things looked like they had calmed down, somehow she swore she felt a shiver run up her spine.
At the same time, she could see Ruby and Weiss returning out of the corner of her eye, with the former hastily approaching, much to the latter's annoyance following behind.
Maybe this feeling is from Ruby coming back...you know the air rushing past.
"You're back Blake. Did it go well with Dr Oobleck?"
"Yes Ruby I am back, and everything went fine."
She smiled at the teen before pulling out her own books and proceeding to join in with the work her teammates were doing.
The rest of the day played out as normal after the whole talk in the library, Yang remained quiet and even energetic in one or two lessons she shared with the raven haired girl.
Though this was comforting to her, with each class she was dismissed from, the end of lessons drew nearer and with it came more thoughts of the meeting she was contented with its delay but had to face soon.
Finally, Blake was seated in the last lecture for the day, professor Port was rambling about one of his many great adventures, causing her to zone out, thinking of what to come and more importantly what to even do.
Okay think Belladonna, you promised Yang you'd help, just keep calm like you always have, don't try to confront him, just gradually get him to spell it out for you.
You're making nothing out of this...but then again here's some guy talking to Ruby, never met before, and he knew about her scythe as well as where our dorm was-
If Penny was being honest, which why wouldn't she be, the fact that each one of us on team RWBY reminds her of him, or vice versa... what could be wrong with that?
We've held strong thus far, so if even a little part of our personalities can be similar to one person...what am I worried about?
But...Yang has always been one to be cautious of someone she didn't trust, usually is right about who she meets, plus she trusted me after all.
"...And who pray tell could have done such a feat?
Perhaps you might be able to answer Miss Belladonna?"
You have nothing to worry about plus you'll be indirectly helping out Ruby, if Yang doesn't have to watch out for her sister for no reason then all the better, now only a few more minutes of cla-
Blake gave an audible yelp as Weiss nudged her out of her thoughts.
"Ah Miss Belladonna, glad to see you are back with us in the real world, now could you please tell the rest of the class what the answer to my question is."
"Uh, you sir."
"Me?"
'Yes sir."
"Right you are miss Belladonna, it was me who fought of a horde of creep Grimm. With that said, it looks as if that concludes another lesson, I'll see you all bright and early for tomorrows lecture, class dismissed."
"Geez you seem out of it Blake, it's not like you to be daydreaming, that's my job." Ruby jokingly said, though Blake could hear the underlying worried tone in her voice.
"She's fine, just preoccupied, needs to take care of important business you see." Yang replied, giving Blake a smug wink.
"But I thought we could all go to practice manoeuvres this afternoon?"
"Though I am delighted you haven't lost sight of your team and our training regime, I thought you would have been going to see Zen?"
"I was, but he contacted me to say he has a meeting that might take some time. Maybe an hour or two, then later he might want to train."
I wonder why that could be.
The raven haired girl thought sarcastically, mentally rolling her eyes at the same time.
"See even Weiss thinks you should come."
"Sorry Rubes, but Blakey here has an important job at hand before anything else." She said after strolling over to Blake and clasping her right shoulder before pulling her in for a side hug while grinning at her.
"And what's more important than perfecting how she fights alongside her teammates, considering the tournament is rapidly approaching?
And how do you know about this so called 'important business?"
Weiss interjected, visibly apprehensive of Yang's over exaggerated behaviour towards Blake.
"Let's just say Blake is doing me a HUGE favour.
Now you better hurry along Blakey, don't want you to be late."
Blake glared at her partner for a second or two, then with a small shove from Yang, which went unnoticed by Ruby and Weiss, she set off for the cafe.
As the three began to head off for the sparring rooms, Weiss was trailing behind the sisters, first looking back at Blake, then back to Yang before following behind the pair a little more closely.
Their journey was unusually atypical for where they were heading, Ruby would normally have to be held back from running off, by of all people, Blake, Weiss and Yang theorising the pairs polar opposite natures cancelling each other out.
Yang as always suggesting the most outlandish fighting moves and obscure names to accompany them, while Weiss took the time to ground Yang in reality.
And no, combining gravity dust and her black glyphs to root someone in place while the blonde continuously laying multiple hits on them, the aptly named 'human tenderiser' was in fact not a good idea.
This time however, there was no Blake, which in normal situations, meant Ruby had the free reign to run off, yet she didn't, Weiss kept her company and the pair talked, though Yang felt things were somewhat off about her.
Maybe I was a little too eager to send Blake off like that...
And speaking of Yang, she had unknowingly switched positions with Weiss and was behind the ice queen and her sister, leaving her to contemplate things over.
I'm making the most of the situation, aren't I?
Why not, it might be annoying and aggravating to Blake to no end for these past few days, but she did offer to help.
Definitely doing this more to keep Zen safe rather than letting me find out for myself.
And although I can't fault her, if she knew how I've been...
Sure, to everyone I'm just plain old 'go-to fun' Yang, but for this last week I've definitely not been myself, and I hate to admit it, I've done a good job of hiding it too.
Who is Zen...really?
Has Torchwick got people working for him besides the White Fang or Juniors men, like spies, assassins or people in some other nefarious type of profession...and he is one of them?
Listen to yourself, you sound like a raving lunatic...
I'm not going to let any possibility slip...but remember, Blake is right now going to see him, and hopefully...just hopefully I'm really making a big mistake and worrying over nothing and she'll come back with much needed answers.
Well this is it... time to talk I guess. Blake thought as she entered the cafe.
The overall interior of the place was brown and beige with hints of soft warm canary yellow, if she stopped and looked at it enough, she could have said this place was styled in as much as the same colour scheme as Yang's combat attire.
She looked around until spotting near the end of the building, Zen seated facing towards her, sipping a cup of hot chocolate reading from his scroll.
Just think, you're doing this for Yang, you're doing this for Yang.
She thought to herself as she gradually closed the distance between them, until she was standing in front of the booth style table he sat at, though he must have been lost in what he was reading as he hadn't yet realised she was standing there, until she spoke up that was.
"Hello Zen, sorry about being a bit late, hope you weren't waiting too long?"
"No it's alright, please, take a seat."
"So the reason I wanted to talk to you was about what happened when we first met in the dorm, how -"
"I knew about Crescent Rose, Rimmy Tim's real name and the fact that you are here to ask me those things?"
Blake was taken aback by his quick reply, blinking a few times before continuing.
"I, uh, yes in a sense that is why I'm here."
"And you are actually doing this because Yang is worried about Ruby hanging around with me, thinking I'm sort of a threat.
Just because I knew a few things about you guys before any formal introductions."
"Yes exactly and- wait. What do you mean you guys, are you saying you know something about all of us?"
RUBY...RUBY you were suppose to say Ruby only!
Zen sighed as he sipped his cup, biting his upper lip pondering if he should come out with the truth or hide behind a wall of deception...he opted for a combination of both.
"Well let me put it this way, I don't know the things you did prior to attending, but what I do know is who you use to be.
Serving under the White Fang, fighting a fight that did more harm to the cause it originally strived for, then helping achieve it.
Part of your reason for leaving was when you realised they had lost their way, so you took your own path...which eventually lead you to Beacon."
Time stood still for Blake as all the colour drained away from her face.
How could this have happened? I swear I've kept my cover and remained under the radar as much as possible.
Her thoughts then turned to all she had done while under the White Fang, doing only what was in the best interest of the Faunus, if it meant raiding and stealing supplies or sabotage, so be it. Though with time, it became harder for her to justify those actions...
"W-wait, you know I- but how...?" She eventually said, after the initial shock had worn off, however, it wouldn't last long as what he said next made her heart sink, hands shaky and general sense of safety fly out of the window.
"Also, I know that bow sat atop your head isn't just for looks, granted if other people are as perceptive as I am, you can notice the slight twitching when you get nervous or angry."
"..."
Blake's silence lasted for more than a few seconds, more than a single minute, no, Zen sat patiently as two minutes elapsed, then five, then ten... the Faunus girl couldn't even begin to process what he had said, yes, it would make sense that if she worked with the White Fang then of course, the logical conclusion is being a Faunus herself.
Yet after all this time, the friends she had made, the day they found out, they had accepted her for who she was, and at the same time kept that information private.
Now to suddenly have her ears in the spotlight once again after all these months...it just left her with wondering...how...who...
Could it have been Ruby?...NO, Ruby wouldn't say a word, out of everyone who knows... Ruby wouldn't say anything...would she?
Penny? But he said he could tell by observing...and what if he said was true, that all you have to do to know was to just watch, and if that were the case, who else could have known and not said anything.
The more she tried to rationalize things through, the more she kept going back to her ears which only made her dread the idea that somehow she had become complacent in thinking that no one would ever find out...her thoughts were getting distorted as she went around in circles.
She herself did not know how long she sat there, but Zen shifted her out of the cyclic reasoning, his voice carrying a different weight to it which seemed to cause her to relax, not by a great deal, but enough to forget about her ears.
"I want to be very clear about something Blake.
I'm not telling you these things to scare you, or drive you away.
I want to be honest with you as best as I can. I want to help you and the rest of your team, Penny, JNPR and the whole of Vale if possible, but I can't tell you anything."
Blake stared blankly, not flinching.
If this is his way of being honest, he really needs to pick up the art of subtlety, also what does he mean he wants to help the whole of Vale...is there something planned by the White Fang? has Torchwick devised a way to break out of jail...And if he intends on revealing such personal information yet he cannot disclose 'anything', what does that even mean?
What did he expect after scaring me?
Then somehow trying to reassure me he is only what he thinks is right.
She stayed like that for another two whole minutes until finally speaking, staring at nothing at first then making direct eye contact with the boy opposite her, taking on a more serious tone.
I think it's my turn to delve a little deeper, let's see if he is willing to disclose anything at least...
Okay, calm and collected Blake, just think of the old days...
"W-what else do you know?"
"I know who is responsible for Tukson's death."
Blake looked away for the moment, the small bit of determination mustered up seconds ago now fizzled away as she thought about Tuckson, recalling how she approached the bookshop, police tape barricading the entrance as several officers were surveying the area.
She remembered how she fell to her knees and just cursed loudly, the only person outside of Beacon in Vale that she could be around without fear of being someone she wasn't as well as being the only real person who loved books as much as she did... just gone.
I knew all too well the feeling of loss while in the White Fang, but that pain never got dull. Tuckson was there for me, especially once I left...but...if I ever found out who did it...and...Zen...knows.
Meanwhile, Zen sat there as he saw the moment he hinted at knowing Tuckson's assailants, the faunus girl's expression morphed into what he could only assume was both anguish and fury the latter forming as he could see the gears in her head turn.
He himself wondering if going into detail would help bring Blake one step further in preventing Beacon's downfall or push her away, and potentially paint a target on his back.
"Blake, I wish I could tell you the whole truth but you wouldn't understand."
"Try me."
"I will not, but what I will do is ask you this. The type of books you read, they're novels yes? Romance if I'm not mistaken."
"Yes, most of them are." Blake said, with some confusion now adorned on her face.
"Okay, see I read as well, though I'm more into nonfiction, one book in particular was written by someone I idolize, his life is an amazing story.
He's a professor, and when he was studying to get his doctorate, at twenty one, he was diagnosed with a debilitating disease.
One that would cut his life to only two years, slowly causing him to lose the ability to walk and speak and eventually cause his lungs to stop working...but his mind would remain intact...and you know what.
He got his doctorate and he is still alive to this day, out living his condition by fifty years, he may be confined to a wheelchair and relies on a machine to speak for him, his mind is always looking to the universe, asking the biggest questions, wondering if there's anyone out there.
If he were here it would surpass his expectations."
"I don't quite understand what you are getting at?"
Why has he become cryptic all of a sudden?
I don't know why, but his eyes, I've been staring into Yang's eyes earlier this morning, though very different in colour yes...yet, the emotions behind them, they are almost identical between the two. With Yang, I could see worry and anger, but also patience and joy.
With Zen, I can only see...honesty...no fear...but fearful of what, what he said to me and how he'd react or is there something more or is there another underlying emotion behind those eyes I can't work out..
I've seen that look before, Ruby has appeared the same way, but with Zen, there seems to be a lack of something...confidence maybe?
But this professor he talks about, the expression in his eyes, definitely that is the same as I have seen in Ruby's eyes...passion, he must have been a crucial part of Zen's life if that much is true, when I think about it, I saw that same passion when he talked about 'wanting to help all of Remnant'.
Maybe Ruby was right...?
She was brought back as she heard Zen speak up, clearly trying to regain her attention.
"I'll let you think about it, you'll figure it out, sooner or later."
He got up and was about to head off before Blake interrupted his own thoughts as he started to walk away.
"Wait, this professor... what's his name? Which academy does he teach at?"
"You wouldn't know him, even if I told you.
It was nice talking to you Blake, I'm sorry you didn't get the answers you were looking for... and probably have more questions now.
Just know that though today I've might have said things that mean you may never want to see me again, I wish for us to become good friends, I just need to prove it to you first is all...I don't know how or when, but I will."
And with that Blake was left alone to her thoughts, at least for a few moments until they were interrupted by a waitress who placed a cup to go on her table.
'Oh, I - I didn't order this."
"I know, your friend did, and don't worry he already paid for it."
"What is it?"
"Camomile and ginger tea."
Once Zen had left the cafe, he casually walked along the streets until he saw an alleyway, after checking all around him to see if either Blake had followed or passers nearby noticing him, he walked through.
Roughly halfway along the length of the walkway, he stopped again to check behind him.
He slowly inhaled through his nose and sharply exhaled through his mouth, pursing his lips as he did so...
"DAMN IT!"
He cursed as he threw his nearly empty cup against the wall which caused its lid to fly off and splatter the contents everywhere, he then proceeded to pace back and forth muttering to himself while clutching his head in frustration.
"Why did you have to bring up her past like that?
'If anyone is perceptive as I am' yeah because you've got everything all figured out. You can say that you're one up the competition...real nice, you couldn't even notice...AAAAAHHHH."
At that point he grabbed his head, turned his back to the wall, slumped down, buried his head in his arms as he curled up and began to hyperventilate...
How did ever I think this would work...?
If you thought there was even a small chance she'd be willing to train you...then that has now gone for good.
It wasn't until the sun started to set, did Zen return to his dorm, the time obviously flying by as he contemplated what he had said to the raven haired girl.
Was 'honesty is the best policy' really all it's cracked up to be?
Or should have he tried another way?
He knew she was smart, so in theory she might put two and two together, he just didn't when and if she did, would she confide in him afterwards.
I mean I'm not going against Ozpin if Blake comes to the conclusion herself, I'm merely steering her in the direction that I'm not a human from Remnant...
But Penny...I haven't even told her that truth and here I am trying to indirectly tell Blake?
One thing at a time.
Taking a deep breath. he steadied himself as he cautiously opened the door and peaked inside, the android girl sat on the edge of her bed reading her scroll in its expanded form, though looking up as she detected his entrance.
"So how did the discussion with Blake turn out?"
"..."
"Wait, are your eyes slightly puffy and red ?"
I thought I had calmed down enough...
"You've been crying?" She asked while getting up and walking up to him to get a closer look.
"I've messed things up..."
"Zen, what did you do? The heighten concern in her voice, plus the now worried gaze she gave him, he could tell she either was going to comfort him or confront him further.
"I told her the truth."
"Ozpin specifically said not to mention-"
"I told her I knew that she is a Faunus."
"Oh."
In that moment, a small sense of relief washed over her, on the one hand, the thought of Zen going against what Ozpin said no... ordered him worried her, who knows what tensions could arise...granted she herself still had questions about Zen's life... but he didn't and that's what mattered.
On the other hand, the fact Blake now knew he was aware of her faunus traits gave her a sense of foreboding dread...and not because of Blake's own wellbeing...
"So how did Blake absorb the information?"
"How you would expect her to react...total confusion. I think that I said something about her also meant she couldn't ask me anything too personal."
"But she didn't question you as to how you knew?"
"Kinda, I think the overall surprise of it left her dumbfounded."
"My question is how did you figure it out? I have no records of our exchanges indicating any topic of Blake being a Faunus, the only mention of Faunus was when you still had amnesia and didn't remember them at all.
And the only other person you have talked to extensively is Ruby, but she would never divulge her privacy behind her back."
"Well...I was able to see her bow moving ever so slightly... "
"So you told her that?"
"Yes."
"I-don't really know how to respond to this all, I mean it's not too dissimilar to when you told me you knew I was an android...but I am not certain on how Blake will take the news."
"I'm hoping she's okay..."
"I think we can only speculate and see what happens. Now however I think it's time we head off and train, maybe even call Ruby to see if she's free after a few rounds."
"So how'd it go?"
Yang asked as Blake entered the dorm, seeing her head down lost in thought.
"Blake?"
Ruby lay on Weiss's bed while the heiress sat at her desk, the pair looked at Blake, then at Yang, something definitely wasn't right.
Yang gave a look to Weiss that suggested she needed to speak to her teammate alone.
"Ruby, why don't you and I go over to team JNPR's room I needed to talk to Pyhrra about something."
"But what about Bla-"
Weiss yanked on Ruby's hood, dragging her out of their dorm before shutting it behind her without making a sound.
Blake slowly sat on her bed and lent forward, still holding onto her empty cup from the cafe, rotating it in her hands, blankly staring at the carpet.
'Blake, what happened? What did he say to you?"
"..."
"Blake, please answer me?"
"..."
"You're starting to scare me."
Finally, she snapped out of her trance and began to speak feebly.
'H-he, he knew I was once with the White Fang."
"WHAT...but..?!"
"He also knew I am a Faunus... or at least he alluded to the fact I have something under my bow."
"..."
Blake could feel her chest tighten as the silence befell both of them, she was sure that even Zwei, who was under her bed, had stopped panting as he could sense his owner's semblance activate.
"THAT'S IT! HE IS GOING TO GET IT!"
As Yang was about to turn and storm down the corridors in search for her new practice dummy,
this time I'm not holding back like I did with the last one,
she felt a hand grab her arm tugging at it for her to stop and look down, dissipating the flames as quickly as they appeared."
"Yang, he also told me he did not mean to scare me like that. He-he was only trying to be honest in that he did know.
Yang...I don't think he's dangerous or he means to come off as hostile."
"And you just believed him like that?!"
"If he had ability of foresight...
"If people have to die in the name of our cause...so be it."
then he could have easily targeted me with what hurts me the most, but he didn't."
"..."
"He also told me he knows who attacked Tukson."
The blonde pulled her arm back to her side, before clenching both fists while looking away with a dejected expression.
What Blake said next however, broke her out of her state of dismay as she glared back at her.
"Yang. I think he wants to help."
"HELP with what exactly?!"
"I don't know, but he said that if he could tell me, he would have.
For some reason, he can't explain... either out of fear of what may happen to me, or in that if I did know, it could jeopardize whatever is to come.
He wants to help... and not just me, all of us... you, Ruby, Weiss, JNPR...the whole of Vale.
While I was confused, I did see something in him, when I looked into his eyes, and after our talk, I was left to sit in the cafe, alone, I began to think.
He has the same determination in them as when I look at Ruby.
Whatever he knows, whether it will happen or not, he is scared and although I could press him why, I know in the end it will only lead me to burning myself out like with Roman.
Maybe even causing him to resent me if I am too persistent.
I can see Ruby is concerned for me...I don't want her worrying of potential strife between her two separate friends.
Yang, I'm sorry to say this, this feeling of distrust you've had towards him, it's best to just let it go."
At this point Yang had had enough, either Blake had been manipulated by her talk with him or she was genuinely serious.
As far as the blonde felt, she needed to deal with him herself...
For now, consoling her teammate was more important.
Even if she wanted nothing more than to go rip him limb from limb,
Blake was delusional or in some sort of shock, whatever the case may be, she needed to be there for her teammate.
Thus concludes another chapter, what did you guys think?
I've had this chapter written out months ago , but it was mainly the cafe talk, and the reaction from Yang, everything else I created from the time I posted the last chapter (which I have edited to fix grammatical errors while posting this one) to now, with Blake describing Zen's personality through his eyes to Yang only today.
I imagine for Blake the thought of her secret being unknowingly uncovered would be absolutely terrifying for her. But she'll bounce back... she had the camomile ginger tea after all.
As I write this at 1 am Eastern Australian time, we are one day away From the E3 xbox bethesda show case, which means only one thing...Halo Infinite gameplay, I am pumped to see what there is.
Now references;
The battle Oobleck talks about in the opening chapter refers to the Red Vs Blue Chorus Trilogy, with the Imperial faction as being the Federation of Chorus and the Rebels as the New Republic of Chorus...Choir being analogous to Chorus.
As you might have guessed the professor Zen talks about is Stephen Hawking (Rest In Peace you beautiful mind), the time frame/setting for the fanfic is when the show aired, so 2013 and Stephen was alive then...and if you have only heard of Hawking after his passing, please, go read his book "A brief history of Time" which is a great non fiction book that explains the most interesting concepts in modern physics to the general public that is engaging (and inspired me in science communication).
I'll leave it there, if I need to add additional notes i will in subsequent chapters.
Anyhow thanks for reading and I'll see you next chapter.
Are there any games you are looking forward to see being shown at E3?
