The reaping of district four...

District 4

She looked dangerous, like a victor, as she walked up onto the stage.

Her red hair flying as she faced the cheering crowd.

Rachel Elizibeth dare may have only been 14, but she was as ready for the Hunger Games as any 18-year-old. Her father was a victor, and soon she would be too. Her father told her not to volunteer. Ha! She had been training since she was 4 years old. Her dad said that the games are not as easy as it seemed, when she countered that with reminding him that he had won. He always said that he was 16 when he started volunteering and he was 17 when he actually got picked. That just meant that she was going to be better than him. She listened to him when she was 12 and 13, but 14 seemed plenty old enough. It was her first-year volunteering, and she was already in. She always thought the tributes were chosen by the capital before the reaping and only ever choose the best from districts 1, 2, and 4. The capital knew how hard she trained; they knew she was going to win.

Rachel had not a doubt in her mind going into this.

Percy's father was bad. People from the Capital were not supposed to get along with district people, and they only ever interacted for the Hunger Games. Percy's dad had broken that rule, for he had fallen in love with a woman from district four. He used his loads of money to take trips there to see her, but he stopped showing up one day. The day she told him she was pregnant. He never came back to district four after that day. All the better, since he thought the capital was starting to catch on to where he was going. This left his poor ex-girlfriend, Sally Jackson, alone with a baby boy to raise.

The man, whose name was Poseidon, always worried about what would happen to Sally and the baby if the Capital found out.

"Perseus Jackson."

Percy high fived his friends on his way to the stage, whooping and celebrating that he got picked. The 15-year-old was overjoyed that he was chosen to compete. He had been daydreaming about the day he would live in a big mansion in Victors' Village his whole life. He saw it as a blessing that he was finally given the chance of a lifetime.

But what Percy didn't know was that Rachel was right; the capital did choose the tributes ahead of time. The Capital had found out one of their richest businessmen had been going on all those trips 15 years ago. This was no blessing for Percy Jackson. No, this was punishment for something that a man poor Percy had never even met did, but still had to pay for his actions. The Gamemakers had no plans to make this easy for the boy from district 4; they had direct orders from the president that he was not to survive the first few days. It was to keep the districts in check that the Hunger Games were made, but it could also be used to do the same for a certain man from the Capital as well. Poseiden can have fun watching his son die on live television.

Well. That wraps up district 4. Thanks for reading and I'll see you all for the reaping of the tributes from the power district. Any guesses on who it will be? Leave your guesses in the reviews; shoutout to anyone who get it right in the next chapter!
