Now for the reaping of the lumber district, district 7...
District 7
If she didn't get picked this year, she would be safe. She and her boyfriend Charles were both 18. So long as neither of them was picked this year, they would never have to worry about the games again. They would just be able to live in peace in district 7 for the rest of their lives. Or at least how much peace someone living in a district can get.
"Silena Beauregard!"
She felt like she couldn't breathe. Of all the names in the jar, what were the chances that her name would get picked? She felt like she would faint as she walked up to the stage. But, if possible, hearing the boy's name was every bit as bad as hearing her own.
"Charles Beckendorf!"
"NO!" Charles heard a voice he knew so well scream. He ran up to the stage, not seeing or caring about anyone else other than his Silina. The moment he reached her, he hugged her so tightly as she started to sob uncontrollably into his shoulder.
"Hey babe, it's okay. I got you, I got you," he said as he rubbed her back, trying to calm her down.
The cameras were trained on them. The Capital must be loving this, the more drama the better, and romance in the games was the highest entertainment there was. They loved taking the couples and killing off one of them to see how the other reacts. Charles was remembering about when it happened two years ago when the tributes from district 5 were together. The Gamemakers had a fun time killing of that poor girl's boyfriend and made sure nothing and nobody could kill her so the Capital could have fun watching her break down until she killed herself two days later. Charles could tell Silena was thinking about this, as she only cried harder.
"Sweetheart, don't cry," he whispered, "It's okay, I won't let anything happen to you."
"But... but what about you?" she said in between sobs.
"That doesn't matter."
"NO, I- I can't live without you." She only cried harder when he said that his survival is not his priority, which was not what he was going for. She was so considerate of other people; it's reasons like that is why he loves her so much.
"I promise, I'll figure something out," was the best thing he think of to calm her down.
And there's chapter 7. Sorry it was a little (or maybe a lot) cliché. See you for the reaping of district 8. The textile district...
