Thank you to everyone who read, reviewed, followed, and/or favorited! Anyway, the reaping of district 9...

"Hazel Levesque!"

Hazel had seen many tributes get called, but when it was her own name, she completely forgot what to do.

"Go," a girl next to her said, while shoving her in the direction of the stage.

Oh yeah, that's right. When your name gets called, you stand on the stage until you are taken to the Justice Building, where you say goodbye to your family. If you had family, that is.

Hazel looked into the crowd. She had some friends, but they won't volunteer for her, and she couldn't blame them. Would Hazel volunteer for them? She didn't know. They might come visit her in the Justice Building before she goes, at least. Or maybe not, it didn't really matter. Nothing really mattered right now. This time next month she would probably be dead.

"William Solace!"

Will walked up to the stage and stood next to the girl tribute from district 9. She looked terrified, just like Will felt. Will didn't want to die; he had a good family, and he wasn't saying that he was rich, but his family just about always had food on the table and kids from wealthy families usually didn't get called. Will's father was the best medic in district 9, and Will had wanted to be a doctor just like his dad since he was so young; he couldn't even remember how old he was when he started helping his dad with patients that had small injuries, just minor cuts and such things. When he became older though, he started to help with the bigger jobs. Then, starting a few years ago, he was doing the same things his dad did. He hated it when a patient didn't make it. He couldn't stand watching someone take their last breaths, when he knew he couldn't do anything about it and that he had tried his best. But still, if he couldn't stand the one out of forty people he couldn't save, how was he ever going to deal with the Hunger Games? Everyone except one person dies, and he knew that trying to save a tribute was pointless, 23 kids were going to die; saving someone just meant giving them one or two more days of life, and that's what happens most of the time when someone helps someone randomly in the arena. Who was Will kidding? His only skill was healing, and that doesn't do many favors for people in the games. Healing is pointless when most of the injuries are fatal. He had nothing that could help him win, and winning meant killing other kids, and he was not about to do that. Yeah, he would probably just die in the bloodbath; both tributes from district 9 died in the bloodbath last year, and the year before, and the 3 years before that. What? Was Will going to be different? Likely, no.

Thanks for reading! Please remember to review. Not sure if people are still reading this and I want to know people read before I start publishing new chapters. CUNSTRUCTIVE CRITISISM IS ALWAYS WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED! Review and hopefully I'll see you for the reaping of district 10...
