The morning, yellow sun was shining outside the window he didn't have reach to. The sound of trashing around, talking, and laughing caused him to groan in boredom. Where they had the energy to be like that since the seven a.m, he rolled his eyes, observing the situation around him.
Seeimf the familiar classroom, filled with known him, people, with the teacher by the board, he couldn't help but lean at his bench, annoyed. History was never his favorite subject and he didn't plan into changing that fact, he covered himself with his arms, ignoring the upgoing lesson. Supporting his forehead at his laying forearms, he closed his eyes in peace.
Annoyed, when one of the strands of shoulder-length, black hair got into his eye, he swiftly combed them away from his face, afterward continuing his rest. Eventually, he raised his head, only to glimpse at the hanging clock over the board. His eyes flashed with the intense, acid, green color, and narrowed them, focusing his sight forward.
Ten minutes more, he moaned, laying himself back with his chin positioned on his arms. Hearing some giggling, he peeked to the side and glimpsed two girls, who battled their eyelashes to him. Instead of rather a gentleman's response, he rolled his eyes at them and glanced away. Witnessing their dissatisfied grumbles, he smirked himself, pleased.
Eventually, after something that felt like an eternity, he jumped suddenly at the sound id the bell. Smiling brightly, he rushed toward the entrance of the classroom, waving the teacher a swift goodbye, before disappearing behind the doors.
Thereby, he found himself in the corridor, which was slowly being occupied by students, who were leaving their classrooms. Glancing forward, thankfully for his height, he was able to ignore everyone shorter than him, and consequently, half of the school's female population.
There were a few people that in the difference of girls, who would usually only wave at him flirty, were going one step further, patting his back and et cetera. Fortunately, his body developed its defensive manner of dodging them, instinctively and swiftly, without the need for any contact.
Unfortunately, it didn't work for everyone. While going only forward, his eyes widened at the view of him. Instantly, he turned on his hill in opposite direction, tensing his shoulders, and shrinking himself. Even so, the act didn't do the job he hoped it would do, because it wasn't a moment when his neck was encircled by the arm and brought closer to its owner aside from the corridor's main path.
Glimping up at him, he noticed a bunch of red, curly hair, attached to the head with the face with a smirk and shiny, light, brown, eyes.
"Toby," he tightened the grip, leaning closer to the annoyed teenager. "You thought you could've left just like that?!"
"I hoped for that," he snarled at him, and freeing himself from his grasp, he straightened, leveling the same-height boy. "Didn't I say you to not call me Toby, already?"
"Then how should I, mister annoyed shit?"
"Like everyone fucking else!"
"Okay, then Night Fury!"
"No."
"Black demon!"
"I fucking hate you."
"And, of course, my all-time favorite," the red-haired teenager leaned on his shoulder. "The unholy offspring of fighting and death itself!" He wiped the invisible tear, thrilled.
"Just call me Toothless, or Tobias for sake," the black-haired one pitched a bridge of his nose, shaking his head. "Just as everyone, James!" He glared at him, frowning.
"How dare you compare me to everyone," the mentioned boy gasped, placing his hand over his heart. "I'm special!"
"Yes, you are special, Hookfang!" Toothless crossed his arms, narrowing his eyes. "Mentally special."
"Asshole," James snorted and raised his chin, offended. "I should have a name for you which only I could use!"
"Why is that?" Tobias snickered. "Since you are special?"
"I'm not that special!" Hookfang growled and inhaled, agitated. "Since I'm your best friend which is almost like a brother to you," he smirked.
"Well, perhaps you are right," Toothless smirked. "You are kind of a brother to me," he scoffed. "The little one and annoying as shit."
"And you are a dick, who didn't want to buy me alcohol when he was eighteen," Hookfang scratched his cheek over the vitiligo part of his skin. "You're going today on the training?"
"Unfortunately," Tobias sighed. ", with you somewhere around."
"Don't be like that, Toby," James sniggered when Toothless rumbled at him. "You have a chance of spending time with the school's best player," he stank his chest out.
"Okay, cool," Toothless glanced around. "Where is he?" He scoffed and his company gridded his teeth, offended. "Besides, shouldn't be the greatest player the captain then?"
"You got lucky!" Hookfang barked. "Cloudjumper likes you and," he growled. "Fuck you!" He roared.
Eventually, the bell rang and Toothless waved his hand at him, while he walked to his classroom. Muttering, James frowned at him last time and went in the opposite direction to his one. Subsequently, as Tobias found himself in the target, he once more lay on the bench, irritated, again. Fucking English, he groaned to himself. gazing at the theme written on the board and ignoring it while laying his forehead against the wood surface.
The cold blow hit him in the nose, making it red from the gathering of the hot blood in it. As usual, his pads were tight peening his knees and elbows, and his helmet began sliding from his head toward his eyes. His legs were about to give up, after what seemed like an hour of murderous training.
All he wished for was a break, but then he was the captain who needed to show an example to others. Another great piece of advice from the gold-hearted, Cloudjumper, Tobias gasped for the air, exhausted.
"Hurry up, Sleuther!" The mentioned man shouted from over the barrier by which he stood. "You won't even get to the gateway with that velocity! Speed up!"
Despite the fact it wasn't Tobias who was called, he was bothered by it anyway. It was his partner who has been yelled at, after all, he peeked to the side and fastened, seeing the mentioned boy do the same. Suddenly, Toothless stopped and prepared himself for the pass.
Immediately, Sleuther swung his stick and send to him a black disc, which Tobias hit into a gate, landing a perfect shot. That's how you make a goal in hockey, he chuckled to himself, proud after another beautiful shot. Thereupon, there was a sound of the whistle which surrounded the whole ice rink, announcing a break.
Toothless exhaled relieved and rode towards the barrier, occasionally bumping fists with his mates after a good game. By his target, he leaned on it, panting tiredly and stretching himself. It wasn't a moment when within impact into the border, James appeared next to him.
"Before ranked," he gasped, lacking the air. "He's becoming," he grunted, clearing his, sore from cold, throat. ", only worse."
"Aren't you overreacting?" Toothless took off his helmet, revealing the few drops of sweat on his face. "It wasn't so bad," he combed his hair up with his fingers, unsticking them from his face after they were glued to it.
"You think?!" Hookfang took off his helmet and Tobias snorted, seeing his whole red face and streaming sweat through it. "Fucking center position."
"If you wouldn't be so blind and aimed the gate, maybe you could have been at a wing one," Toothless sniggered, loosening his back. "It's rather peaceful here."
Rolling his eyes at him, James groaned, soundly. Unexpectedly, without any warning, by Tobias's other side, someone attempted to bump into a barrier full speed, ending up outside it. As usual, the moron forgot the barrier has a height limit, Toothless scoffed, and together with Hookfang, they gaped at the laying figure.
"Nobody is rushing to help as I see," the blond, curly-haired boy frowned at them with his hazel eyes and sank himself into the ground, achingly. "What amazing, caring friends you are."
"Nobody is willing to help an imbecile, Belch," the similar boy, to the one who collapsed on the ground, only with straight hair, appeared by James's side and leaned over his shoulder, smirking. "Only cretin would be able to throw himself at the other side of the meter barrier."
"My brother," Belch raised his head and gritted his teeth at the twin. "You were my ally, Barf!"
Eventually, at the place in which Belch was supposed to stand, showed up another figure. The boy wore his helmet in contrast to his teammates still, but even so from under it was visible some of his brown hair. His dark, brown eyes beamed at Tobias gritted his teeth inside his mouth in instant.
"Great job, captain," he fist-bumped him and Toothless grinned at him, anxiously. "That last goal was just brilliant!"
"Thanks, Sleuther," Tobias pressed his lips together, awkward about the situation. ", and you don't have to call me captain."
"Okay," Sleuther wiggled in place, satisfied. "Nice one there, Toothless," he waved to everyone before he took off to the other part of a team that included his closest pals.
"Why he's so snuggly to me all the time?" Toothless hissed, disgusted. "It began getting annoying."
"Maybe he's in love?" Hookfang squirmed his eyes playfully and Toothless raised his brow at him. "But seriously, this is how Simon is. Nice guy, in the difference of you."
"Okay, but I don't like when someone is so," Tobias winced, sour. ", affectionate," his back shivered.
"Poor Toby," Hookfang pouted. "Somebody was friendly for him and he feels like he's been raped," he snorted while Toothless stroked his eyelids. "Anyway, after training I'll take Stormfly and Meatlug asked me to ask you if you could give her a lift."
"What?" Toothless blinked at him, stuck dumb. "You're talking to me?"
"No, to the trash can over there," James pointed at the corner of the huge hall at the mentioned, small object. "Of course, I talk to you!" He groaned.
"You could have talked to twins."
"Could I?" Hookfang grumbled and both gazed at the two, mentioned boys.
In the meantime they have been talking, Barf was handing his hand to his brother, and every time he was close to grabbing it, taking it away in a second, so consequently Belch was ending up hard on the floor. Fucking idiots, Toothless glared at them while Barf burst into laughter. Why do I even hang around them?
By the second attempt, laying brother grasped Barf's arm rapidly and pulled him to the outside of the border, sending him toward the ground, straight at his face. They started fighting and Toothless'a corner of mouth lifted, entertained. Right, that's why, he chuckled, observing two combating each other monkeys.
"Back to the theme," James grunted. "Will you take her with you?"
"Maybe if I knew what you're talking about, at least."
"Party, because about what else!" Hookfang buzzed, vexed. "Bianca is making one."
"You have just said two things I hate the most in the world," Toothless peeked at him, raising his brows. "Party and Bianca."
"Don't you dare moan about her again, I beg you."
"I will," Tobias's shoulders tensed. ", but only when people will understand there is nothing in between us, and there is never going to be."
"I don't understand you," James threw his arms, irritated. "The girl is flirting with you clearly, yet you act like she doesn't exist. That's cold, even for you."
"It's not exactly like that," Tobias grumbled. "Do you know, how the whole situation looks from my point of view?" He turned to him, gazing at him and frowning. "At first, she flirts with me. She's pretty, and seems fine, so why not. But then, when I make my step, she requires that relationship to be deeper than years long one! Would you like it if you just began dating someone and that someone demand from you the love? Love?! After two days?!"
"Okay, okay, I get it," Hookfang hissed. "Fucking forward," he muttered and straightened. "Although, what's wrong with a party?" He growled when Tobias opened his mouth. "Don't you even dare bring a work claim! Nonstop, only work! What are you?! Forty?!"
"I'm trying to save the money for my college," Toothless rumbled. "Not everyone has it handed to them, you know," he exhaled harshly and loosened. "Besides, I'm behind with money after buying that car."
"Bullshit," Hookfang barked. "Firstly, you have one and a half for that. Secondly, I saw your salary man! It's bigger than my father's for sake!"
"That's why I can't just quit a day!" Toothless crossed his arms, certain. "I might lose such a good job, also parties are just a waste of time."
"Isn't it remote work?" James hummed, soundly. "Aren't you a freelancer? Come on, make it tomorrow! It's onto one night!"
"First of all, it's not so remote!" Toothless tightened his cross of arms. "Still, I have to consult with my boss. Second of all, why tomorrow when I can do it today?"
"You're overworking." Hookfang narrowed his eyes at him. "Unhealthy overworking and workaholic. Stop living such a life, before it flashes before your eyes," he frowned at him. "Do you not want to live, actually? Have a family or something?"
At the raise of the theme of family, Toothless peeked to the side, troubled. Hookfang knew that topic was hard for him, but even so, he mentioned it, Tobias's veins on the face popped. Nonetheless, as a stupid claim. Eventually, there was another whistle, which gained everybody's attention.
"Break is over!" The man's voice rang around the whole place. "I don't want to hear any moans ladies! On the ice!"
Hearing so, Tobias pushed himself from the border and rode somewhere farther forward, ignoring calling him James. He didn't need Hookfang's laughable words, Toothless heaved a sigh, loosening himself and setting himself in his position. His life was good as it was.
The sound of keys opening the door surrounded the whole flat and after that Tobias stepped inside through them. Panting, he wiped his forehead from the sweat, before he took off his jacket and hang it, groaning when after a mere second it fell to the ground. While he frowned at it, he moved over it, ignoring it, inside the farther part of the apartment.
There was standing a couch at which he threw himself in instant. His face met a cozy material that lulled him to rest. Laying on his stomach first, his back was raising upward and downward, sequentially. Despite his teenage, rather young age of eighteen years, there was no one inside the household, besides him. There was no screaming of annoying siblings, or irritating parents, only him.
Wonderful life of an orphan, Tobias sank into the texture underneath him. The truth was he was alone since his birth. That was when his mother died and his father passed away just two weeks later due to cancer, leaving him family-less. Although of rather an early diagnosis of death, his dad spent the rest of his life searching for a home for him, unsuccessfully.
Do you not want to live, actually? James's voice rang in his head and Toothless grumbled, positioning himself on the side. Life was terrible and brutal for him, so why would he want to try living? Since his early childhood, he fought for everything, like an animal that must have survived. Most of his life he spent observing adults, who never showed any sympathy toward him, leaving him in an orphanage until he turned a dream eighteen. He didn't need live life, he turned on the back, staring at an empty ceiling. He needed to survive it.
Eventually, he peeked at the whole flat, familiar to him already, despite living here less than a few years. It was a small space, with a living room connected to a kitchen, a small bathroom, and a rather little bedroom. The tiniest, cheapest, but the same way, the most comfortable studio flat he found, he smiled proudly, remembering the whole event of moving in here.
Narrowing his eyes in the farthest part of the main room, just over the TV he glimpsed shelves with a photo at which he stared. The familiar photo represented his parents, young and healthy, before marriage. The facial features he got after his father. The truth was they were identical, but the things that were making them apart were the build of the body, hair, and eyes. His build was skinny, while Tobias was rather muscular, his hair was brown, and his eyes were rather dark, grey colored. Thomas Night, Tobias recalled his name and gritted his teeth hard.
Next to him stood a woman, who encircled her arm around his middle. In difference to him, she was curvy, her hair was black and long just like Tobias's, and her eyes glowed with the same instance green color as his. She smiled with a beautiful smile which forced a slight grin on Toothless'a face. Violetta Night, Tobias bit his tongue, stopping a flow of any tears that might've gathered in his eyes.
Everything he have ever done was for them, he sat up and leaned on the couch's back. Even so, he didn't feel proud, but like a fraud, he bend forward over the ground and hang his head low, supporting his hands on his neck. Have a family or something? Hookfang's words recalled themselves in his head and he grumbled, ashamed. Of course, he wanted a family, but that wasn't something he could have in the future, he tightened his eyes and straightened suddenly. It was something unreachable for him, because who would like to be his family?
Standing up, he glanced at the clock. 05:48 p.m. He sighed. He had one hour to work, he wiped his face the last time before walking to his room. Inside, the first and only thing he noticed was a desk by which he sat up and on which from his backpack he placed homework books. Starting him, he halted himself suddenly and exhaled, shakily. Nobody, but it was his fault, he answered his earlier question. Since he never cared about anybody, why would somebody care about him?
The sound of the lighting rang in his ears, while the thick raindrops covered his jacket under which's hood he hid. Despite the rather horrible weather situation, Tobias ran forward to his car, and opening it, he sat in it, rapidly. Things I do for that job, he shook his head, obviously, and starting the engine his eyes widened at the alert on the screen before him. He didn't have fuel.
"Fuck," he muttered to himself, leaning his forehead on the wheel, irritated.
Looking up, he analyzed his possibilities and glanced at his phone to check the hour he cursed himself when he got out of the vehicle and decided to take the route on the foot. Through it, he sprinted forward and not thinking much he took a turn into a dangerous street, where the buildings were veiling some of the water. He understood his mistake only after a few moments.
Slowing up his gait, he looked around and felt the shiver on his back, which warned him about the malicious intent of nearby people. Each time someone gazed at him, Toothless straightened, revealing his size, and growled at them, scaring them away. He breathed calmly, but even so, his heart raced because of the slight fright caused by being here. Robbers, frauds, and maybe even gang members could be here, so he had to have a full guard on everything, he inhaled and raised his chin, confidently.
Eventually, he found himself alone, with no one nearby, and because of that, he let himself on the loose. In the meantime, he thought about everything troubling him at the moment. Recalls of James's words repeated themselves sequentially, each time provoking another emotion. At the start, it was anger, then it continued with annoyance, and ended up with guilt. He wanted to change things from the way they were, he confessed exhaling, soundly. However, was there any way for that to happen?
From his thoughts, some him up rain that clattered while impacting into a metal cover of one of the houses' entrances. Avoiding its attracting warmth, he fastened his pace, tensing his shoulders with escaping attitude. Suddenly, hearing a noise nearby, he stopped and almost tripped because of it. His eyes locked on the dark, suspicious alley.
Biting his tongue, he was about to walk away, hoping to bypass any problems, but hearing the same noise again, he couldn't bring himself to it. Somewhere behind the visible trash dumpsters, there was a sound that forced his eyes to widen in startle and shock. It was seriously a cry of a baby, he stood motionless, stunned.
