A/N: This one is a little Evans family moment. Let me know if this is how you imagined them. Again, constructive criticism is good and thanks Cursed Teen for the review! Enjoy :)

Lily smiled to herself as she leant her head back, soaking in the French sunshine. She had only been in France for two days but she was loving it. She had finished the few pieces of transition work she had been given to 'ease' the teenagers into sixth year within the first three days of her holiday and she would probably have forgotten what she'd learnt by the time she went back in September but she was just glad she didn't have anything to stress about.

She had spent the first week of her holiday catching up with her parents and attempting to be civil to Petunia whenever she deigned to enter the same room as her freak of a sister. The smile slid off Lily's face as quickly as it had arrived as she thought of Petunia. Lily knew that Tuney had been jealous of her at the beginning when she first discovered her magic, but that jealousy had quickly turned to fear and then dislike. Lily wouldn't go so far as to say Petunia hated her but she definitely acted like she did. Lily just wanted her sister back, she missed her, but every time she tried to build bridges Petunia just retreated further away. Petunia had just finished her last year of secondary school and had gotten a job as a secretary for a new drill company that she would be starting in September.
Lily could see Petunia starting to grow up and become an adult and was scared that the time would come when Tuney would get married, have kids and forget about Lily and they would never be able to fix things between them. Lily mentally shook herself, she would not let that happen. She remembered something Alice had said to her when they were discussing her sister having met up in London for a shopping trip before Lily left for France. "Don't give up on her if you care about her, even if it takes you through hell. It'll be worth it in the end." That was what Alice had told her. The girl was fiercely loyal. Thinking about Alice brought Lily back to the reality of the state of the wizarding world. When Lily was home with her parents it was easy to believe that she was just a normal girl, but the fact of the matter was that tensions were running higher than ever between pure blood supremacists, their supporters and muggleborns and muggleborn right activists. Discrimination was worse than ever, a bubble of dread rose in Lily's threat at the thought.

"Lily!" Her mother's voice jolted Lily out of her reverie. It sounded like she was calling from the kitchen.

"Yeah?" Lily shouted back.

"Come help me with this stuff please."

Lily sighed, loathe to leave her position in the sun on the deck chair on the balcony of the apartment her family had rented, but got up, wrapping a thin shawl around her shoulders. Her mother was emptying things out of a carrier bag.

"What's all this?" Lily asked her mother.

"We've been invited to a barbecue by the pool with all the other families who have rented out the other apartments. I accepted and thought I should bring something, it'll be a good opportunity to meet some other people." Rose Evans looked at her daughter and raised an elegant eyebrow, '"I've also seen some dashing young men, wandering around Lils." Lily rolled her eyes at this as she put away the groceries her mum was unpacking.

"They'll probably all be French mum, your matchmaking attempts are going to have to wait." Lily finished putting away the food and sat on the kitchen counter opening an ice lolly that had just been bought. Rose whirled around at the sound of it unwrapping and Lily hurriedly shoved it in her mouth before her mum could snatch it back.

"Lily!" Rose attempted to snatch it out of Lily's mouth but she scooted out of the way before her mum could reach it.

"It wasn't me!" Lily attempted to say as she dodged Rose's snatching hands. Rose scoffed and was about to reply when she was interrupted by Petunia coming into the small kitchen holding an empty cocktail glass in one hand. Both women turned as she walked over. Lily took in her sister's appearance. Petunia was taller than Lily and had inherited more of her father's looks. Dr. Harold Evans the family Patriarch had light blonde hair and was a tall, slim man. Petunia had his thinner, more boney features and his pale blue eyes. However where Mr Evans' eyes had flecks of darker blue, Petunia's had flecks of her mother's green. Lily on the other hand was almost the spitting image of her mother. They were about the same height and both had red hair, however Rose's had darkened with age and now was almost brown. There were a few silver streaks flashing through her hair also. Rose wasn't old, she was 43 and in Lily's eyes she was timeless. It also helped that Harold swore up and down that she was just as beautiful as the day he met her if not more so.

Lily and Rose were both slim women with slight, but flattering curves, they were both freckly, even more so because of the sun. Lily's hair had darkened from the vibrant orange it had been when she was younger and was now more red. Lily used to dislike her hair as she had suffered mean comments about it in primary school, but as she'd grown up she had started to like it more. It was another thing that made her different from the average girl but Lily liked to be different. Lily looked apprehensively at her older sister, wondering if Petunia would greet her with her usual veiled insults and barbed remarks. Tuney had a tongue like a knife and had found just the right balance for her comments to seem normal to the average passer by and even their parents most of the time but to Lily their true cruel intention would be made clear. Petunia said nothing to Lily and instead started talking to her mother.

"Did you say we were going to a barbecue mum?" Tuney asked taking in the shopping.

"Yes we are." Rose replied merrily. "And you two are going to make friends." She pointed a threatening finger at the two girls as she said this. Lily grinned and rolled her eyes. "Preferably some attractive male friends." Lily outright laughed at this and was pleasantly surprised when Tuney joined in. "It's a wonder you two are still single." Said Rose exasperatedly, "two such beautiful girls."

"Next thing you know you'll be auctioning us off mum." Lily said grinning from her perch on the counter.

Rose turned to face her. "Are you telling me that there's still no nice boys at that school of yours." Rose said looking intently at Lily. Lily stiffened slightly at the mention of Hogwarts and glanced warily at Petunia but was relieved to see she hadn't seemed to notice but was absent mindedly pouring herself another mojito. Lily sighed.

"Boys- check. Nice boys- check. Boys I could date- check. Boys I could date and get your hopes up and potentially marry- no." It was at this point Dr. Evans, Lily's dad came in smiling his usual kind smile as he beamed at his girls.

"Now, now Rose. We can't just auction our daughters off to any man that's willing! They'd have to go through my very intense multi stage interview so I can weed out the unworthies and then sit an exam so I can test their intellect before they have to take part in a gruelling exercise regime of mine so I can ensure they have good physical fitness and then I would carry out a thorough background check on their medical history, financial records, exam results and criminal record and then, and only then would they be allowed to consider marrying my daughter. And after that I still reserve the Father's right to maim and/or seriously injure them if i deem that they have indecent intentions or have hurt my girls in any way. Or if I just feel like it." He finished his speech with a wink and the Evans' all laughed at his hyperbole.

"It's good to know you're looking out for us dad." Lily said jumping off the counter and reaching up to peck him on the cheek.

"So." Petunia said clapping her hands and almost spilling her drink. "What time is this BBQ?" Rose glanced at the clock before shrieking and rapidly trying to pick up all the groceries simultaneously.

"Good heavens!" She cried, "it started 15 minutes ago!"

"Battle stations girls!" Harold exclaimed, deftly catching a coleslaw as it fell off Rose's teetering pile of supplies. "Lily grab the drinks. Petunia stop drinking all the drinks and help your mother." The girls swiftly complied.

"Oh Lord, Lily" said Petunia as she went to help Rose, "I've been on the cocktails since lunchtime, you'll have to keep an eye on me."

"Always will Tuney, don't worry." Lily said smiling widely as she brought up the rear and grabbed the keys, she was starting to like tipsy Tuney.

Lily and Petunia were sat on a sun lounger sipping their drinks as they took in the scene around them. The BBQ was being held beside the pool, which was surrounded by the different apartments in the complex. They were in a sort of courtyard containing the pool, a jacuzzi and various sun loungers there were a few areas for barbecues but only one was in use and it was being manned by Lily's father and a Scottish man who he had made friends with who had also come here with his family. Mrs Evans was off chatting and Petunia and Lily had mingled for a short while before finding a seat.

"Well." Petunia said turning to Lily. "Mum was right, there are a lot of good looking boys here." Lily laughed and nodded in agreement, just glad Petunia was being normal with her. Petunia raised her eyebrows and nodded in the direction of someone behind Lily. "Don't look now but there's a very attractive guy just behind you." She whispered conspiratorially. Lily waited and then turned around. There was indeed a very attractive guy behind them. He looked to be in his early twenties and wore a loose shirt that showed a tanned, muscular chest. He was chatting happily to a young woman who's back was to Lily. Lily turned back around to Petunia's devilish grin.

"Yes, he is very attractive." Tuney nodded knowingly, "but," Lily added "he's also married," Petunia blanched and narrowed her eyes.

"What! No way he can't be much older than me!" She was now intently staring at the guy. Lily laughed out loud.

"Yes way! You need to stop staring! Look at his hand."

Petunia sniffed before smirking again. "Well, that may be so but that doesn't mean one cannot appreciate one's good looks." Lily snorted in amusement and slapped Tuney on the arm.
"You tart!" Lily said jokingly. She then wished she could retract her remark. What if Petunia went off on her? But Petunia just giggled, smiling at Lily's joke.

"What you don't agree?" She asked, eyebrows raised. Lily looked over at the hot guy again before turning back to her sister, grinning./

"Well it would just be selfish if no one else was allowed to appreciate his good looks wouldn't it?" Tuney had chosen that time to take another gulp of her drink and abruptly laughed at Lily's comment. The combination of these two actions ended in her spitting out her drink directly onto Lily. Both girls froze and stared at each other each unsure how the other would react. Lily locked eyes with Petunia, green on blue. Lily broke first, letting out a loud, rather unladylike snort at what had just happened. Tuney quickly followed suit and soon both girls were gasping for breath and clutching on to each other, they were drawing looks from the other families but didn't care. Neither noticed the pleased smiles their parents both wore. Rose wound an arm around Harold's waist.

"I hope this lasts Harry." She said softly. Harold smiled.

"Maybe we should let Tuney drink more often." Rose laughed at this and pecked him quickly on the lips before turning to chat to someone.

It was a while before Petunia and Lily caught their breath again. Tuney looked down into her drink, her cheeks pink.

"I can't believe I just did that." Lily giggled again. She caught her sisters eye and took a deep breath.

"I've missed this Tuney... I've missed you." Lily held her breath, maybe tipsy Tuney would be able to talk to her like sober Tuney never would.

"Me too Lils..." Tuney said in a sigh. Lily's hands were clenched, it had been years since Petunia had called her that. "It takes a lot of energy to try and hate you you know."

"Then don't." Lily whispered, "please Tuney. I hate fighting with you. I miss you so much." Lily could feel a lump in her throat but forced herself to keep talking. Petunia met her eyes, they looked suspiciously bright. "I'm sorry that we had our differences when we were younger Petunia, maybe I didn't deal with it in the right way or made you feel left out when me and... Severus became friends." Lily scowled, she hated the fact that the thought of her former best friend still made her sad. "I can't change who I am Tuney and sometimes I don't like the fact that I'm a witch either." Lily felt Petunia stiffen and look around quickly as though checking for eavesdroppers. Lily bit her tongue, she had to choose her words more carefully. "But I love you Petunia and I don't want us to grow up without fixing this thing between us. Can we just please try again." Petunia didn't speak for a few moments. Lily's heart was beating erratically. It seemed like an age before Tuney looked at her again.

"Can I be honest with you Lily?" Lily nodded jerkily, Petunia took a sip of her drink before carrying on.

"I hate the fact that you're a... you know what. I hate that there's a whole society of people like you who could attack or do anything to me with their...magic and I could do nothing to stop it because I wasn't... born with it or whatever. I hate the fact that it meant you had to move away, I hate the fact that you and me have nothing in common any more, I hate the fact that I couldn't talk to you about anything because you weren't a part of my world anymore and I hate the fact that I couldn't come with you and it was just another thing that made you better than me." Lily tried to interrupt but Petunia cut her off. "I don't know if I can ever be okay with what you are Lily." Lily bowed her head, tears blurring her vision. Petunia clutched her hand.

"But I want to try." Lily's head snapped up. "I don't want us to grow up and not be able to get along." Lily nodded there was another thing on her mind though, the fact that in the wizarding world a war was coming and Lily was likely to be a target because of her blood status. Lily didn't want to die and not be on good terms with her sister, she mentally shook those thoughts out of her head.

"You'll have to give me time though." Petunia continued, "it's going to be... hard for me." Lily nodded.

"That's ok, just take however long you need and you know if you've got any... questions or anything, just let me know." Tuney nodded slightly, an unreadable expression on her face. Lily suddenly threw her arms around Petunia, surprising both of them. "Thank you." She murmured to Petunia, she let go quickly, not waiting long enough to know if Tuney would've hugged her back. She stood up. "I'm getting another drink, do you want anything?" Petunia shook her head motioning to her still half full glass. Lily left for the drinks table a smile tugging at her lips, she hoped against hope that her and Petunia would be able to work things out.

She grabbed a drink and when she looked up was met with a pair of astonishing dark blue eyes. They belonged to a very handsome boy who looked to be not much older than herself. He was tanned and had wavy blonde hair, he was stood with another boy who looked like he could be a relation. He flashed a dazzling smile at Lily who quirked an eyebrow at him before slowly smiling back. She slowly turned back around and deliberately made her way back over to Petunia. Who was looking at her with an amused expression.

"I 100% saw that Lily Evans." Tuney said.

"What?" Lily replied innocently "I was just getting another drink."

Petunia laughed "you flirted with that guy without saying a word!"

Lily blushed, "reckon it worked?"

Petunia laughed, shaking her head "of course it worked. He'll be making his way over here at any minute." Lily blushed again.

"I can't believe I did that. I don't flirt with random guys."

"Well you seemed like a natural." Petunia said, patting her leg.

"I just tried to copy the TV shows." Lily said still mortified.

"Well, if you keep trying I reckon you could get any boy you wanted." Petunia said a slight hint of jealousy creeping into her tone. Lily didn't notice. She was too busy marvelling at her suaveness. Tuney mentally shook herself, she was trying to like Lily! Remember? Tuney suddenly clutched at Lily's hand.

"He's coming over."

"What?" Lily said, shocked. "Why is he coming over?" Tuney raised a disbelieving eyebrow at her sister. "Ok. I know I basically lured him over but still, how am I meant to know what to do?" She was panicking now and hurriedly trying to flatten her hair which had frizzed a little in the heat.

"What do you mean you don't know what to do?" Tuney said laughingly "you're unsupervised in a boarding school with a bunch of teenage boys for basically 9 months of the year and you've never dated anyone?"

"I've dated like one guy, and that didn't work out and it wasn't like this and what am I supposed to do!" Petunia was trying hard to suppress her laughter. Lily batted her on the arm "help me! What do I do?"

Relax Lily." She said soothingly, still smiling, "he's coming over slowly, taking his time, talking to people. You've just got to act natural, be yourself. You're charming, everyone instantly likes you." A cold hand of jealousy was creeping up Petunia's spine again at her words. But she quickly tried to shut it down. Lily meanwhile was doing her best to act natural, casually sipping her drink, she almost choked on it however when Petunia's eyebrows quickly raised in surprise.

"What? What's happening?" Lily asked worriedly.

"He's bringing his friend."

Lily giggled. "One for you, one for me I guess." Petunia laughed as well.

'Mum'll be pleased.' Lily snorted again before quickly covering her mouth.

"I hate when that happens." Petunia was shaking with laughter at Lily's horrified expression.

"Pull yourself together Lils, good lord they're both very easy on the eyes aren't they." Lily grinned.

"I chose wisely."

Tuney straightened up,"ok, act natural they're coming over." Petunia proceeded to start up a pointless stream of conversation about the French architecture when she was gently interrupted by a deep voice with an attractive French accent.

"Excusez moi, may my bruzzer and I join you?" Lily turned, it was the blonde one who had spoken, his brother smiled charmingly from slightly behind, he had brown hair with lighter natural streaks running through it and twinkling sea green eyes, he was slightly taller than the blonde one, but just as good looking. Petunia smiled and said yes. The brothers sat on the sun lounger next to theirs, side by side so they were facing the two girls. The blonde one spoke first.

"My name eez Francoise and zis eez my older brother Tibeaux." (pronounced tea-bo).

"I'm Lily and this is Petunia." Lily said.

"Ah, beautiful names for two beautiful girls." Tibeaux smiled. Petunia and Lily glanced at each other smiling at his typically French flirting. The four talked well into the evening. The boys were funny and easy to talk to and made both girls blush a number of times. Lily found out that they were from northern France, Francoise was slightly younger than Tuney and Tibeaux was about to turn 20. They had family in the south and came down each summer to visit them. They had both gone to boarding schools too. It had gone 10.30 when Tibeaux stood up.

"We should start eading back Francoise, before we are locked out." Francoise nodded and stood as well.

"It az been lovely to talk to you." He smiled at both girls, but his gaze lingered on Lily a fraction longer. Lily was glad it was dark as she could feel a slight blush rising up her cheeks.

"If you are not familiar, with ze area, me and Tibeaux would be honoured to show you around. Tomorrow per'aps. If zat suits zat is." His gorgeous eyes were on Lily again who was speaking before she had time to think.

"Sounds good to me, how about you Petunia?" Petunia was watching their exchange with a smile pulling at her lips.

"I think I might be doing something with dad tomorrow but I'll see what I can do." Lily looked at her questioningly and Tuney gave an almost imperceptible wink. Lily amusedly rolled her eyes, she was being set up. She didn't mind much though. She turned back to Francoise smiling.

"Where shall we start?" Francoise threw another dazzling grin at her.

"Ow about we meet here at 11 tomorrow morning and we can ead out to ze town." Lily nodded an affirmative and Francoise held out a hand to help her up, surprised, Lily took it. Francoise swiftly brought it up to his lips and gently kissed the top of her hand. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Tibeaux grin and roll his eyes at his brothers antics. Lily got the feeling Francoise had done this before, she knew in the back of her head that she needed to be careful around the charming Frenchman, but that wasn't going to stop her from enjoying their time together, if anything did happen it could only be a fling anyway she was only going to be here for two weeks and it certainly didn't stop that damned blush from rising to her cheeks. The two boys wandered off chatting amiably. Lily turned to Petunia and studied her curiously.

"Well played Sis, looks like you got yourself a hot date." Petunia grinned.

"You're so not doing anything with dad tomorrow you just didn't want to go." Petunia blushed, that was all the answer Lily needed. She gasped, "Oh my word! You weren't only trying to set me up there's someone in England isn't there!" Tuney flapped her hands, shushing her.

"Yell that any louder why don't you."

Lily grinned, "Go on then, spill the beans. Who's the lucky guy?" Petunia shushed her again exasperatedly.

"It's not really anything yet. But there's... well there's this guy at Grunnings." Lily grinned and sat down again. "He's starting in September along with me, he's an entrepreneur, ambitious you know." A small smile was crossing her face as she spoke. "We got to talking at the induction week in June and exchanged telephone numbers, I like him Lily." Lily eagerly leaned forwards.

"Well." She said excitedly, "what does he look like? Is he better looking than Tibeaux? He better be considering you're ditching me." Tuney laughed.

"Oh pull the other one Lils, it was obvious all along that you and Francoise just wanted an excuse to have some alone time. Tibeaux and I were just helping our younger siblings get there." Lily swatted her arm indignantly. "Besides Tibeaux isn't really my type I don't think."

"You have a type now? Is it entrepreneur drill guys?" Tuney slapped her arm, harder than Lily had slapped hers, Lily clutched it, shocked.

"Don't make fun Lily!" Petunia snapped, Lily held her hands up in surrender and tried for a smile.

"Sorry I didn't mean for it to come out like I was mocking you." Petunia took a deep breath before relaxing again.

"His name is Vernon." Lily internally blanched at the name but did her best to hold it inside, Tuney didn't notice. "He's just graduated from Smeltings, a very prestigious school and was regional boxing champion. He was hand picked to enter Grunnings and is going to become a very successful salesman." Tuney was smiling happily at the ground as she described him and Lily smiled for her, happy her sister was happy. Lily nudged Petunia's shoulder.

"Sounds like a bit of a hunk to me." Tuney nodded, "I hope it works out." Lily stood and offered a hand to Petunia. "He's lucky to have a girl like you interested." Tuney smiled gratefully and only hesitated a second before taking Lily's hand. "Mum and dad'll be wondering where we are."

Petunia nodded, "hopefully they haven't locked us out." Lily gasped and covered her mouth with her hand. "What?" Said Tuney, concerned.

Lily snorted. "Well that's not gonna happen because I've still got the bloody keys haven't I!" They began to laugh together.

"Well if that's the case then they've definitely been spying on us for goodness knows how long seeing as they haven't come and got the keys." Lily groaned.

"Mum's going to be insufferable if she knows I'm going around town with Francoise tomorrow."

"Oh that's for certain." Petunia guffawed and laughing the two sisters returned to their apartment arm in arm. And Lily couldn't be happier.

Fanfiction formatted this one a bit weird, hope it came out ok and i apologise for my french accent writing :)
