Waking up, Toothless raised his head and blinked tiredly, while trying to focus his spinning mind. Eventually, achieving it, he observed his surrounding which was his bedroom. He stroked his aching neck after the night spent sleeping with the head on the desk in a sitting position, with his clothes on and a laptop next to his head which was open but also shut down after hours of lack of motion.

Wiping his face with his palm, he attempted to remain awake after a rather uncomfortable night. Afterward, he glanced at his phone and was surprised by the fact there wasn't on it any notification or alarm. What the hell woke him up? He scratched his head and jumped at the sound of a doorbell, that surrounded the whole flat. So, that was it.

Instantly, murmuring to himself and cursing under his nose he got up and with a tired, unconscious gait, because of which he almost tripled four times, walked to the door. Who the fuck comes here at such an hour? He groaned when the doorbell sounds went feral and opened the door sharply. Thereafter, he squirmed his eyes at the bunch of curly, red hair.

"Toby!" James opened his arms in imitation of a hug. "There is my favorite grumpy! Good to see-" he was interrupted when Tobias shut the door closed and walked back into the living room of the apartment. "You motherfucker!" He whined from behind the wooden material and burst inside the flat. "You almost broke my nose, madman!" He yelled, stroking the ache.

"Don't wake me up next time," Tobias smirked and straightened, crossing his arms while gazing at Hookfang. "What do you want?"

"Why weren't you at the training yesterday?" James pointed at him with his fi get. "We were worried about you."

"Worried?" Toothless snickered. "Sure," he crooned. "Anyhow, I was busy," he shrugged.

"Working, am I right?" Hookfang frowned. "Don't lie to me, Night. That never caused you to miss training, then why now?"

"There are things I have to take care of."

"We might help."

"Hookfang, I meant on my own, besides I-" Toothless's eyes widened. "We?"

Suddenly, through the door swooped inside twins, who held plastic chairs, which they began positioning around them in a circle. One of them ended up just behind Tobias and he grumbled when Belch forced him into a sitting position. Just then, they sat in chairs before he and Toothless raised his brow at the. Thereafter, he sniggered, seeing Belch's square glasses and Barf's notebook.

"Welcome, to our every-week meeting. Don't mind my friend here." Belch pointed at his brother, who waved. "He'll document the conversation, in meantime analyze state some of you, however, you don't have to worry about privacy. You're safe here," he grunted. "Let me begin. My name is Belch and I'm about to turn eighteen. I have a confidence problem, but I make an effort to fight it, proudly," he narrowed his eyes at Tobias who snorted, massaging his forehead.

"Intervention. Really?" He peeked at James, furrowing. "Are you into it too?" Tobias grumbled, seeing him shrug. "Why the fuck I'm even asking."

"Mister Night," Belch raised his chin at him. "We noticed your sudden disappearance, followed by unusual tiredness, and your friends, namely us, are concerned and worried."

"Shut the fuck up," Toothless tsked. "You came here only to tease me. Word worry isn't even close to what you're symbolizing."

"Such rude words, mister Night!" Belch placed his hand over his heart, offended. "Besides, formalities, please. It's for you mister or either sir."

Toothless's face tensed and just as his hands fisted, through the door came two newcomers, which was Sarah with a curly, ginger-haired, chubby, and brown-eyed teenage girl. While both of them stepped in, their eyes widened with surprise, witnessing the situation before them.

"What the actual fuck, guys!?" Stormfly shouted, gritting her teeth. "We were just behind your backs!"

"Miss Sarah, you're interrupting us," Belch stroked his eyelids. "How am I supposed to help him, if I am disrupted nonstop?!"

"When I asked for help I didn't mean this!"

"Everybody, hush!" Toothless yelled suddenly, gaining everybody's attention. "I don't care about your imbecile ideas, but this is my house! You can't just raid here, like some savages!"

"I'll be back to you in a minute!" Stormfly threatened him, waving a finger. "Let me yell at them first!"

"No! It stopped being funny!" Tobias stood up, snarling. "I have no humor for that! Not today!"

Barf, who was writing in his notebook still, burst into laughter. "T-There are times-" he gasped for the air. "-where you have a humor?!"

Narrowing his eyes, Tobias sighed and gazed at Sarah. "I understand them, but you? You aren't dumb! Why you're bothering me in my own home?"

"Because you have a problem," Hookfang stank out his chest, but when Tobias peeked at him dangerously as he sank into his chair.

"I can't believe I'm saying it, but Hookfang is right. You have a problem!" Sarah crossed her hands, tightly. "Don't you see that you're overworking?! Why weren't you yesterday at training? Cloudjumper went furious, and besides, you love them!"

"I had my reasons," Toothless mumbled, looking away.

"What reasons? Money issues?!" She snickered. "You don't have any of it, so why you're overstaining yourself like it was your hobby?!"

"Sarah, I'm fine and it's my life, so I'll do whatever I'll fucking want."

"Are you fine, Tobias?" Sarah hummed, soundly. "Look at yourself! Did you even sleep? You have eye bags! Not even mentioning that I'm certain you slept in these clothes!"

"Even so?"

"Even so?! Do you hear yourself?!" She threw her arms. "When will you start taking care of yourself, damn it?!"

"When I'll feel the urge to!"

Henceforth, they stared at each other, leading a fight doing so. Everybody around was silent, awaiting its end, and they did until Toothless rasped.

"You know what? I feel the urge even now because I have to prepare for school, so please take those damn chairs and get out!" He barked, pointing at the door.

Offended Sarah, growling at him the last time, turned away and listened to him, directing herself with heavy steps toward the entrance of his house. She was followed by James and the twins, leaving Tobias alone with a ginger-haired girl, who through argument stood still like rest but stepped closer toward him now.

"Martha, seriously, it not a good time," he muttered to her in between his teeth.

"Honestly, I think it's the best time," she smiled at him weakly. "I'll go, but before I would just to remind you those guys care about you," she pointed at the opened door through which the rest left. "They do and everything they are doing is for your good. I understand they're sometimes annoying-"

"Sometimes?"

"For you nonstop," she giggled and straightened. "However, they are your friends. You know, those closest ones are always the most irritating. Like in a family!"

"Meatlug, I don't know how it is in a family."

"Bad example, but they are family! That's why you need them and to stop treating them like that, otherwise, you might lose them," she exhaled soundly, observing him peek at the ground. "I understand it's not easy for you to care for everybody. You never were loved, so how can we expect you to love back? You never were cared about, so why would you care? Although I hope someday it changes, you know?" She patted his shoulder. "For now, try being a little nice, at least. Alright?"

"Alright, alright," he hugged himself, avoiding her sight.

"I'm glad," Martha beamed and turned toward the door. "See you around," she moved forward to it and before Toothless could answer her back, she left, leaving him alone.

"Told you that'll make you feel better," Atali laughed, while Toothless pulled out his tongue, focusing on the task before him. "Not as easy as it looks, isn't it?

"I didn't think it is that hard!" Tobias squirmed his eyes at Hiccup, who laying was on a changing station and was being changed by Toothless. "Hiccup, buddy, would you mind not wiggling like this!" He groaned, wiping his face. "Aren't you tired of that, already?!"

In response, Hiccup waved his arms and Amaya giggled. "I think the answer is no," she scoffed and peeked at Tobias, sympathetically. "As for the first time, it isn't the worst."

"I got it!" Toothless moved back, placing his hands on his hips and sticking to his chest out, proudly.

Atali looked from him to Hiccup and raised her brow at Henry. "It's backward."

Toothless blinked, glancing in the direction she did, and facepalmed. "It's backward," he recited after she defeated, and grumbling he came over toward the tiny boy once more.

Repeating the task, ignoring everything besides Hiccup before him, Toothless got a chance to analyze the boy's disability a little more carefully than he ever got a chance to. Thereupon, he caught a glimpse of his lacking leg, from the left knee down, and bit his tongue, compassionate. The fucking, unfair world, Toothless hissed, but then returned to reality when Atali crooned, humming.

"You're getting better."

"Awesome."

"I know it might not be knowledge useful for you now, but you never know, maybe you'll use it in the future."

"How is that?"

"Won't you be a father, someday?" Amaya beamed at Henry, while Toothless flinched and peeked at her surprised and wide-eyed. "Good job! It's perfect! Well, almost at least, but that's the fault of the poor hospital equipment rather than yours."

Curious, Tobias looked where she did, to understand what she meant. Thereupon, he gazed at Hiccup in a diaper, a little too big for someone his size. He kept staring somewhere up when Atali went forward to take him into her arms.

"Alright now. Since you're ready you can take your medication!" Amaya rocked him as he began weeping. "No, no, no. Let Tobias take a break! You're going to play with him after medicine," she moved toward the chair with the needle, filled with red syrup.

Sitting up, she made herself and Hiccup comfortable, but it seemed the little boy still wasn't much pleased with what was happening. Nonetheless, Tobiad couldn't help himself, but smile, brightly. He felt wanted and needed, his heart fulfilled with joy. He felt important for Hiccup.

Eventually, he straightened, hearing Hiccup's screaming over the fact that Amaya pulled the needle toward his mouth, which he avoided. Worried, he came over to them and kneeled just before them.

"Can I help, somehow?"

"Keep him distracted," she moaned when Hiccup once again pushed away the medication.

Nodding, Toothless tilted his head to meet Hiccup's eyes and shushed, unsuccessfully. It was later on when the idea popped into his mind. Instantly, he looked around at the surroundings and hurried toward his backpack, confusing Atali. Subsequently, he came back with the same, black, dragon plushie, and Atali hissed, hesitantly.

"Are you sure about it, Tobias?" She peeked from the plushie to Hiccup and then at the teenager. "Won't he be frightened with it?"

"Trust me," he nodded at her and showed Hiccup the toy, which gained all his attention.

Gaping at it, Henry stayed still, neither scared nor startled, just interested and amazed. Immediately, seeing her chance, Atali pushed the needle into his mouth, slowly propelling the liquid into the infant's stomach. Fortunately, he didn't seem to be minded by that, and exhaling relief, Toothless glanced at Atali.

"Did the police find anything?"

Sighing, she shook her head. "The case is much more complicated than it seemed from start."

"Why is that?"

"Well, according to documentation, there was no boy named Henry born in Berk lately."

"He didn't have to be born in Berk," he loosened his arms, subsequently lowering the toy, because of which Hiccup wailed at him, ordering Tobias to reveal the plushie, which he did. "What about other cities nearby?"

"They are searching, and don't worry about it, Tobias. If anything will be found out, you'll be first to be informed. You have my word."

"Thank you," he winced, bemused. "Regardless, why is it taking so long for them? There must be some information!"

"A friend of mine confessed to me the police suspect it was removed."

"Removed?"

She nodded. "There is a chance that his parents had good contacts and used them to clear any data about Henry," she peeked at Hiccup and fretted. "It's monstrous, to just erase your child from life."

"Yes, it is."

Meanwhile, Hiccup ended the whole needle and began moving away from it, informing everybody he was finished with it. Instructed by Amaya, Tobias took him in his arm and positioned him against his shoulder, so his body was straightened and to avoid any gagging or vomiting.

While Toothless turned his head at Henry, he observed his eyes which looked around and his body which was becoming tense when he cooed. Excited and curious, Tobias chuckled and pressed his forehead to Hiccup's head momentarily, closing his eyes. Opening them back, he peeked at Atali with the side of his eye, smiling brightly at him. Too brightly, he narrowed his eyes at her. She had something going on.

Eventually, behind her, he caught a glimpse of Polaroid photos, hung on the wall, and curiously he pointed at them. "What are these?"

Going forward he saw pictures of children with adults, together either standing, or hugging, but what they shared was happiness painted on their faces. As he got her attention, Atali peeked back where he was eyeing and beamed.

"Those are my children. Maybe, not exactly my children, but my patients," she patted the camera, which found itself just under her hand on the desk. "These photos were made just when they were about to leave. It's a souvenir after them."

"Fantastic idea," he giggled and peeked at the softly breathing Hiccup on his shoulder. "What about him? Will he get here?"

"That depends. If I will get permission from his adoptive parents, then yes, of course. Unfortunately, if I won't, or even worse scenario, he won't have one, I can't make a photo of him and hang it in there like that. It would be a little illegal, don't you think?"

"Stupid law," he shook his head and smiled at her weakly. "If you ask me, you have my full approval."

"Good," she exhaled relieved, and checked the hour on her watch while Toothless raised his brow at her. "It's time for him to eat. Would you want another lesson?" She grinned seeing him nod. "Alright. Then sit up and I will bring the bottle," she pointed at the chair and disappeared, while Toothless sat on it, not objecting to her.

While so, he corrected his grip on Hiccup and moved him, so he was laying against his chest, and just then their eyes met. The little boy gaped at him, with his big eyes and just then he smile and at the act, Toothless eyes widened. Hiccup just smiled at him! Tobias beamed widely. It was the most adorable thing he ever witnessed!

"I'm back," Atali moved toward them and cocked her brows, pointing at Toothless's cheek. "Tobias, you got something-"

A confused teenager wiped the part of skin she pointed at and was shocked to feel a wet liquid. "I got a little emotional," he giggled weakly and focused on Hiccup, embarrassed.

"It's nothing to be ashamed of," she passed him the noodle and kneeled in front of them. In the meantime, Tobias put a bottle's feeder into Hiccup's mouth and he started eating. "Good work. Just a little higher-" she pushed his elbow upright. "Exactly."

Narrowing his eyes, Toothless snarled, but the corner of his mouth lifted. Afterward, he glanced at Hiccup and melted seeing his cute, peaceful, eating self. Later on, he sighed peeking at Amaya.

"His future parents will be lucky to have him."

"That's true, however, they'll have a lot of trouble raising him, am I right?"

"No, you are not right," he frowned at her. "Why would you say that?"

"I'm sorry, but I meant from the medical point of view," she blinked at him and sank in herself. "He's premature baby, also the fact he's disabled-"

Toothless hummed soundly, interrupting her. "You're not looking from a medical point of view, but a financial one," he snorted at her. "Don't worry though. Every adult does," he growled, while Atali furrowed her brows at him.

"What are trying to imply, Tobias?"

"Do you want the truth? Alright, I will give you one," he leaned over Hiccup to face the older woman. "The facts are the adults and their world is focused on money, but don't get me wrong, I get it. Since childhood, I struggled with it, so despite having them now, I still gather them. However, I would never choose them over my child, do you get me?"

"Tobias, what I meant was the expenses of thousands, millions, not hundreds!"

"And so what! I would sell my house, my body part, and everything for the beloved me child!" He barked. "Besides, believe me when I say, such a child from an orphanage doesn't care about the things they gain after being adopted. The only thing they require is being loved. To have someone to look after them, who says good luck before school, who asks how was your day after it. Someone you could come to after having a nightmare and hear from them hey, it's okay, I'm here," he sighed. "Child doesn't require much, but the adults do."

"Look, I understand-"

"No, you don't, I do! I was in place Hiccup's going to be. I was in that horrible orphanage and observed how it is. The people interested in adoption aren't interested in the same adoption, but the solution it's bringing," he shook his head, scoffing. "The marriage fixing, the child support-"

"I think you're overreacting to that one."

"Am I? Then explain to me, why since being three years old I only observed adults taking beautiful girls, occasionally small, infant boys. Why they always had their requirements, why did they never come inside and take a random one, without bothering about their advantages? Why-" he swallowed. "Why they never take me."

"I'm sorry-"

"I know why," he tapped with his ankle the metal part of the chair and Atali almost jumped, hearing a clattering sound. Thereafter, she gasped when Toothless revealed his foot under the pants, or rather prosthesis replacing it. "They never want the faulty one, and because of that, I'm so depressed by Hiccup's future fate. I lived through it and I know how hard it is," he gazed at Hiccup and tightened his grip on him. "I'm looking at him and I'm seeing myself, however, it's not a good perspective."

It was about two a.m. and his head spun tiredly, but despite that, he shook the exhaustion feeling off his head. He had work to do, he blinked his red eyes, killed by the bright screen of his laptop. Dangerously, his head was getting lower and lower, but fortunately, notifications on his phone were keeping him away from dozing off.

Yawning loudly, he bent over the desk, hungrily peeking at the bed beside him. Let's get over with it, he sighed focusing on the work displayed on the laptop screen and digging through his backpack, in search of needed documentation.

Subsequently, he twinkled shocked, when instead of feeling these, he found a little paper piece. Taking it out, his eyes widened witnessing the photo in his hold. Amaya must have made it, he analyzed the polaroid picture and turned it to the side he gasped, catching a glimpse of the image of him and Hiccup in the hospital.

On it, he was holding a tiny Hiccup against his shoulder, gaping at him smiling. The shot perfectly caught a moment in which Henry returned the gaze and they both looked at each other. Watching it for a rather long moment, Toothless smiled brightly, until his facial muscles started to hurt after not being moved for a longer period.

Forgetting about his work, he got up from his sitting spot and walked back and forth, beaming. He had a memory of Hiccup now, he teared up, but after the moment the tears of happiness changed to tears of sadness. Why wasn't it enough for him?

Toothless knew that there might come a time when Hiccup'll find himself adoption parents and that was wonderful. However, it hurt him. The knowledge that someday will come the day when he'll say his final goodbye to Hiccup, hurt him, he wiped the liquid streaming from his cheeks. It hurt, but even so, it was a selfish feeling. Hiccup will leave him someday and he promised he'll help him and he had to ignore these feelings.

Looking at the desk, he took from it a piece of tape and attached the photo to the nearby wall, so it was fully visible. After he stared at it for a long period, he collapsed on the bed and almost instantly closed his tired eyes. He'll keep on for Hiccup, he dozed up, snoring soundly. He promised.
